And we're still talking about the first opening parables in the Quran that have to do with two images, one of them that we started talking about, which is somebody starting a fire in the middle of the night, I'm going to add some things to that. And then I'm going to hopefully try and cover and complete our discussion on the second parable also, which has to do with a dark night and somebody's passing through it in the middle of the rain in the middle of very heavy rain. And we'll see what we can learn from both of those examples. The reason I think this is significant to spend more time on is because both of these are extremely crucial concepts in the

Quran. The conflict between light and darkness is actually something repeated throughout the Quran. And it's this same imagery, that's the first time it's being brought up. But this imagery is then used all over the Quran multiple times in multiple contexts, and I'm going to walk you through how it's used in the Quran. Yesterday, I told you that a methyl in the Arabic language is like a saying it's not just an example. It's like a saying, and what is in common speech, what do you do with a saying, different situation comes up and it reminds you of that same and another situation comes up and it applies and the same comes to your mind. So when Allah has given us this image, the method

which is supposed to come to mind over and over again, that's its purpose. Then across the Quran, as Allah talks about light and darkness, it's almost as if it should all trace back to this image every time it comes up. That's kind of the educational method of the Quran using light and darkness throughout the Sutras of the Quran in this strategic kind of way. And we'll dive into that in a second. The second thing in sha Allah that because I'm talking about what's used across the Quran, the other image that is used across the Quran to describe Allah's guidance, meaning Quran itself, one constant image is light, and the other constant image is actually rain. So Allah uses the

example of rain to describe the Quran and the effect of the Quran and the origin of the Quran. Quran comes from the sky, the rain comes from the sky, the Quran gives life to the dead hearts, the rain gives life to the dead Earth, the Quran, the, the, you know, the water is pure, and it's a purifier and the Quran is pure, and it's a purifier, right so there are these connections between water, especially rainwater and the word of Allah and how it's received. And of course, the water comes and if the soil is good, and there's a healthy seed inside, it will grow. But if the soil is filthy, and there's no life inside it is just dried up dirt or it's just stumbled and you know, rocks and

pebbles and things like that, then this will just become foam and it will start flooding the water won't go into the soil, it'll just start creating a flood. In the Quran, you got exposed to it. And there were some who like good soil, the Quran went inside them, and it penetrated into their hearts. So Allah gives that parable and that example also of rainwater. So we'll see, the first time both rain, and light and darkness are being mentioned is in this surah, setting the stage for everything else that's coming. But this image is actually a really amazing way to summarize the entire scene of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam because also Allah Islam came to a place that was in the depths of darkness. And the

best of them were the ones that were just doing business in caravans, right, that was the best case scenario, this was a very dark place in the world, a place that the world essentially forgot. And there's a spark that's being lit in the middle of that darkness. And that spark ends up lighting up the entire world. And that's the coming of the Quran. Right? So it's this one brief image that actually encapsulates what happened with Allah Allahu multimorbidity, that Allah will complete its light his light, right? When Allah says, Allah, Allah, Atma, Hola, when the fire illuminated his surroundings, those surroundings eventually became the entire planet. And now the entire world is

surrounded by the light of Allah and you will find people of La la la la in all corners of the world. So now coming to this light and darkness thing across the Quran, I want to give you a glimpse of that, that I divided it up not in the order of the Quran, but in the order of audiences. So I told you, there's multiple audiences behind the Surah, right, and one of those audiences is the Jewish and the Christian people, the people of the book. So let's look at how Allah talks about light and darkness with the people of the book, while you keep this image in mind, the whole point of this exercise is you have to maintain, you know, in your minds a fresh awareness of this light

being struck, it illuminates and now the people that were lost now have finally have someone who can guide them through a dark pathway. And this is the final introductory comment is when Allah talks about light in the Quran, he's talking about movement, you're not just lighting a fire and sitting down in the middle and having a barbecue, you're lighting it because you need to know where to go. The point of the light is, you know, you need to know where to go. And if there's 100 people, only one of them has a torch, or one of them has a light. Everybody else is now trusting that one person who has the light and so long as they can see they can follow him and make their way so with that in

mind. Now let's look at some of these places in the Quran. Let's start with Surah Al Qaeda. the second example yet. But what I want to share with you is this journey of walking in life with the word of Allah, and walking towards brightness, this will actually become actual darkness and actual brightness on Judgement Day. And so when Allah switches from this scene to Judgment Day, here's what happens.
