Faith IQ – Can A Revert Be With Their Family During Christmas Time

Is it permissible for a revert to be with their family during Christmas time?

Allah subhanho wa Taala commanded the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam when he was first given Prophethood, to give Dawa, to his closest relatives. And what we learned from this is that as Muslims were encouraged to speak to our non Muslim relatives about Islam, now, often we will only get that opportunity during those moments of celebration, like Christmas, like Easter. So particularly when it comes to reverse and converts to Islam, we would encourage them to spend time with their families during that period, as long as they're not partaking in the harm. So for example, like going to Christmas mass, or drinking alcohol, or eating pork, or those things that we

know to be hard on, besides that, you should partake with them, and spend time with them and use that as an opportunity for them to get to know you as a Muslim and how Islam has enhanced your life. And if the opportunity arises where you can proactively give Dawa then that is a good thing as well. And Allah subhanho wa Taala knows best.
