Ramadan Reminders 2019 – Episode 02 – A Goodly Word

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh May Allah subhanho wa Taala accept from us My dearest brothers and sisters in Islam. I mean, for those who started fasting today I pray that you had an amazing amazing, phenomenal fast and with this I welcome you all to Episode Two of our Ramadan reminders since we basing these episodes on the evenings of Ramadan. This is our second evening of Ramadan May Allah subhanho wa Taala accept what has passed and bless what remains. I mean, in yesterday's episode we discussed a relationship from the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of relationships between Surat Al Baqarah and Surah Al Fatiha and from that discussion we can deduce a

Now when we look in sort of Bukhara we see Allah subhanho wa Taala telling us what ulin se hoshina or kulu Lin se Hasina and this is a point of reference that I want to use for our lesson today. And this is in ayah, number 83 of surah, two bokaro Allah commands

us to say a goodly word to speak a goodly word to speak to people in a nice way. Now obviously, when we look at the context of the ayah, we see that the ayah is an instruction to

All these mighty massive values were were being sent down for the sake of implementation and establishing Allah subhanho wa Taala as rule on earth, and here we have what ulin se Krishna, but this is not only specific to the portion of our Islamic history after the hegira we also have an instruction from Allah subhanho wa Taala in a monkey in a monkey sutra, meaning a sutra before he Jara before migration to Medina, where Allah subhanho wa

What we say how we say Allah subhanho wa Taala commands us in the Quran to say a goodly word, right, Allah subhanho wa Taala in many parts of the Quran repeats this instruction. And it's not a repetitive repetitiveness that is negative. It's a repetition that complements previous instruction. So for example, Allah subhanho wa Taala tells us with regards to our parents while at and her Houma wakulla Houma colon Karima Allah commands us to speak to our parents with ay ay ay ay, ay, ay ay noble, a noble speech, some kind of law. Then Allah subhanho wa Jalla says, Well, I must say in a family attend her as for the one who comes to ask you for help Latin harmony, don't turn them away

in a rough way, in a way that is, is that opposes the concept of saying a goodly word. Allah subhanho wa Taala tells us in certain way either hapa homall, je Luna corlew Salama, that when the ignorant ones address the Muslims and the people of knowledge, they do not respond to them on a like for like basis, they they do not respond to the ignorance with ignorance, rather, they respond to the ignorance with that which is my roof with that which is beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala. Brothers and sisters in Islam, we need to revise ourselves and Ramadan is a month of revision. It's it's a, it's a I've spoken to you about cave days. While these are cave days. These are moments of

reflection, as the body uses its energies to heal, because it's not busy digesting food, then also, we should use the energies that the body has, as we stay away from food and drink and other matters to also heal our spirituality, our manners, our morals, our ethics, we should sit down and think that during the past year, who did I speak to in a way that wasn't befitting? Why did I do that? What was the circumstances? How could I have said things better? How can I avoid this happening again in the future? This is part of the fast brothers and sisters in Islam. This is what it is. This is taking yourself to account for the sake of bettering yourself seeking the pleasure of Allah

subhanho wa Taala right. And that's what Allah Subhan the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said in a hadith that whoever doesn't leave out zufall speech that Allah subhanho wa Taala is not in need of his or her first of all, because fasting is not just about being hungry. It's about spiritually growing and transforming.
