Hajj – Step by Step #1

You guys don't sound like you're going to hatch excited.

So now I want you to catch

us and we are going to say volunteering. So now I'm really glad you're blogging whatever you want in a lot of me when afterwards, team last Sunday was about a karate closer they come Mohamed Salah Leung and he was salam ala, Ernie was Sofia.

So I want to welcome you all $100 Bill, I mean, I'm personally extremely excited, I was going over my notes today.

You know, go looking over these things and how a lot of us already got me in the, in the spirit of Heinz, it's only a few weeks away, how many of you are actually going to be going to Huntress Allah.

Okay, for those of you who aren't going to hatch and Sharla next year, but like a real Inshallah, not like a half Inshallah, like, seriously make your intentions How many of you have been to hatch, but you're not going to see it?

Okay.

Okay. So I'm going to travel it over. This is a very practical step by step guide. I'm not saying that it covers everything that we need to know when we're going to hatch. But at the same time, I tried to make it as concise and as practical as possible. So if someone is going to hatch and they carried this with them, it's only about I think, after everything that came up to be about seven pages, it's only seven pages, and you can look back at it, you can refer to it. So inshallah I'll try to elaborate more on the things that are listed here. But at the same time, you'll be able to go back and look over this inshallah Tada at home before you go while you're there, you know, looking

at what day you're in, and just quickly looking, it's just a checklist that I put together and have the lab running, this is my, this is my fourth time going to Hajj. But honestly, every time I go, I ended up revising my checklist because something else comes up and I think about it while I'm there that you know what, this actually makes sense. No, actually, I should add this also I should have this also I should make this point also. But when that shows you is that no matter how prepared you are, you're going to find yourself in a situation where you're not going to be prepared, but at the same time we can do our best inshallah to be prepared. Now obviously I talked to Chef gas and come

in the footsteps of Ibrahim it is that's really obviously this the most important aspect of it, but at the same time what I wanted to look at more was a practicality. more from a standpoint and practicality when I get there, what do I do here? What do I do there? For those of you that will be going with me Inshallah, when we are there, before each step, I will talk about the spiritual meaning of that stuff. Okay, so I'll elaborate further before we do each one of the different steps of Hajj. I'll talk about what this means and what the signifies because it does, it definitely increases your for sure while you're there and increases your humility if you know why you're doing

what you're doing. So Hamdulillah you know, I appreciate you guys for taking the time to do that. I asked Allah subhanaw taala to reward him for that in sha Allah. So anyway, before you can go first and foremost, obviously renewing your intentions, you don't want to go to Hajj and have a completely wasted because you didn't have the right intention in the first place. Now, a lot of times, especially, you know, in Jordan, for example, whenever a person comes back from Qatar, I don't know if any of you are from philosophy in or Jordan or if you haven't, if you've seen this ritual, but when a person comes back from hutch, they have to have this big old, you know, tents in front of

their houses to signify that this is the house of hygiene. And if you don't do it, then you're gonna get attacked. So it's almost like a trophy that you carry for the rest of your life that you are a hedging you've earned that title. You don't forget about going to study, study and earn the title of any man or anything like that. Just go to hedge and you get the title of the hedging you're done. But that that really affects a person's intention. So again, before you go, you really really do need to work on your intentions. And there are many stories from the seller, particularly from Abdullah moonwalk, Rahim Allah Allah Allah robotiq used to go to Hajj one year and used to go for

Jihad the next year and then go for Hajj again, go for Jihad the next year. How did you how did you have constantly between the two and he used to see dreams sometimes. And in one of those dreams, he saw the angels talking to one another. And one of the angels was saying to the other that ALLAH SubhanA wa Tada did not accept the hand of a single person this year. That's in the generation of unwalkable Barack

Obama Mubarak woke up. And he was extremely, you know, he was he was extremely shocked by that he was saddened by that because he was enhanced, he was impacted. He's having this dream and imagine this isn't the Jimmy age and five star hotels, or of comfort and luxury that we have today. This is the age of the setup. And Allah subhanaw taala did not accept any of their Hajj and then he went back to sleep he woke up and he prayed to Allah subhanaw taala and we went back to sleep, and he saw those angels and they continue their conversations. And one angel says to the other

But Allah subhanho wa Taala accepted everyone's hunted by the you know, because of the the acceptance of one person who didn't even make it to hatch. And that person was a man by the name of it. And then Warfield Rahim Allah Allah who used to repair shoes in a Shem and he had the intention to go to Hajj. But before he could leave, he found out that his neighbor was that his neighbors were in poverty. So he gave him the money that he saved to go to Hajj to them. And because of that, he wasn't able to go but Allah subhanaw taala saw the sincerity of his intention. So it shows you again, the person has the intention, but it doesn't go but the intention is sincere, they can have

an accepted imagine sleeping in their homes not doing anything a sincere intention, whereas if a person goes but their intentions have not been renewed, they can go through all the struggles, all the hardship of Hajj and not have a single moment of it accepted because the intentions were not sincere. So this really cannot be emphasized about sitting with yourself, especially over the next few weeks, every single day. Think to yourself, Why am I going to hedge? Why am I going to hedge keep asking yourself that question what I want to get out of hedge right? So renewing your intentions means your friends and your family and ask for forgiveness. The last thing in the world

that you want is for you to go to Hajj. And then you know have have been completely rejected alongside all of your deeds because you have more than you have in the form of transgression. Right that you've committed against the person that you weren't aware of lust penance, as we know, even if you have a grudge between you and someone else, ALLAH SubhanA which Allah says in the Hadith would say to the angels, on Mondays and Thursdays when they bring up the deeds of the of the believers. And Allah subhanaw taala looks at their deeds and they bring up the deeds of two people that are in conflict with one another and Allah Subhana Allah to Allah says a little having had tails falling

leaves these two until they fix what is between them. So think about that. Again, if I have someone that I'm that I'm an obvious conflict with, you know, we're not talking, for example, especially if it's friends or family, I need to get I need to get that settled. I need to ask people for forgiveness if I might have hurt them. And put my ego aside because Hajj is all about putting your ego aside and you start putting your ego aside before you even get there by asking the people that you may have harmed, you know, for forgiveness, especially your friends and your families and your families. Now, the next thing is to pay all of your ducks now this is a filthy question. But I'll

just address it and bring the ship Yes, it is much more knowledgeable. I wish he would have been here though. So I can I can I can defer these questions to him, but he's much more knowledgeable in these in these matters. But when it comes to depths, if you have a debt that is due a debt that is due that is imminent, then you have to pay that before you can go to Hajj. Okay, it is a condition of going to have that you pay off all your debts. Now let's say that you have a debt that is on installments. Can you still go to Hajj?

Can you still go to Hajj and just continue to pay those installments? Let's say you owe $50,000. But you've already made an agreement with the lender to pay back that $50,000 over six years and you pay a certain amount every single month. Can you go to Hajj before paying off that debt?

Yes, you can because the debt is not imminent, it's not going to affect whether you go to college or not, you're already paying a monthly installments. So as long as you're paying a monthly installment, that's fine. But the debts that are due upon you, you have to pay those before you go to Hajj number four extremely important, prepare your will prepare your will now this is something that's due upon us on you know, whether we're going to hedge or not every single night the prophets lie so they've said that a person is sinful if they don't have a will prepare to their sleeping for three nights you have to have a well prepared, where your assets are well defined, where they're

going to where you've gone through the Islamic equations, and you've had that prepared. So especially when you're going on a journey like this, where you really don't know if you're coming back or not, you know, we have to approach it as if we're going in we're not coming back. But Subhanallah you know, I've seen people that are completely healthy, completely healthy will light while they're there. I'm not trying to scare you all but this is a good thing if you die in hajj, by the way, but completely healthy and they can get some weird disease over there and they pass away. You know, 30 year olds, 40 year olds, you know, you're going and you're interacting with with three

to 4 million other people, right? And those three to 4 million other people are bringing whatever they're bringing from all over the world. And Allah Subhana Allah knows best obviously something could happen to you there was a demand for from the UK.

prescription medication particularly this is something that I found very useful amoxicillin to general, any doctors in here that can prescribe these things. We don't have any doctors in the masjid what kind of business

okay, we have a doctor. We have a shy Doctor, this is a very special message hamdulillah so amoxicillin or mudstone something to keep your overall health. Well this is something that I've heard over and over again and last year was the first time that I actually took it with me some over the counter medication that you can have with you, Tylenol, Pepto Bismol to hold your stomach. We'll talk about why that's important. Sudafed just general flu stuff Chloraseptic spray, something that I've seen because a lot of times you can develop it starts off with just a sore throat or something of that sort and I've seen course of experience helped on a lot of people vitamin C pills.

Personally Subhanallah I can see the difference between two years that I took in Didn't you have like vitamin C pills 1000 milligrams take one a day. boost your immunity it is good for you to keep your immune system strong before you get there and while you're there consistently. Also vaseline or they call it a diaper rash cream, you know to apply when you're when you're in hives, I'm telling you, you will you will hate yourself if you don't bring it

do your best and bring anyone who has been a hedge will tell you it's a nightmare if you don't bring it Okay, so bring some Vaseline or something of that sort to apply to your inner thighs when you're wearing it off. It is you know if there's one thing that you if you take nothing else with you but you have just a container of one thing forget about your food and forget about your toothbrush just take Vaseline with you. Okay because it's very painful and it's wrong if you don't have Vaseline, light material foams and plastic slippers. Okay. Light material foam see this soap is a very thick though you want to have even if you're not accustomed to wearing film is not because it's sunnah and

it's I'm just talking about for a crack from a practicality standpoint, to try to wear slacks and a dress shirt and an undershirt it's going to be extremely hot at this time of the year. And at the same time it's just a lot more comfortable so take if you have some very light material Philips okay very light material foams and some plastic slippers the reason why it's good to have some cheap plastic slippers and you can buy some there to you know take a pair with you from here you can buy some there too because your slippers are going to get lost. Alright there is a huge possibility we do not take your good shoes there. Do not take your good slippers there do not take good samples of

it all right, you're they have those those plastic cheap white ones for totally us. In Saudi Arabia, you can buy some of those pairs and mark them in some way, but you're gonna you know plan to lose your slippers. So you want to have a cheap pair of slippers that also falls into the realm of permissibility and of course from a standpoint of permissibility

I'll just dress this from now inshallah so we can get it out of the way and if you have any questions stop me at any time brothers or sisters, you can stop me at any time.

This is but particularly for the brothers when you're wearing your slippers. It cannot be something that comes above the ankles. Okay, so can it have stitching inside of it?

Yes, because the word Levine's which the province is known for base stitching MFI, it means a garment that is stitched that is made to fit the part of your body. It can't be a shoe, it can't be a sock, it can't You can't wear leather socks and cut them under the ankle. And again, exposing the top part of the foot not entirely, but having some exposure on the top part of the foot, your ankle should be fully exposed. So again, if you have like a pair of flip flops or you have something even that has like a bend to it, that's fine as long as it's not fully enclosing anything. Okay? So but again, my recommendation is just to get the cheapest flip flops, slippers that you can find and that

way inshallah you don't have to worry about that in the first place.

Also a light jacket from a Nina Molina tends to sometimes get get cold at night and things of that sort of you want to pack a light jacket for yourself. And when I say a light jacket, I mean a light jacket. Okay, but it's good to have one. The weather is strange, there's some time so it's good to have one for yourself. Keep your long towels and carry on not checked in luggage because it might get lost.

Last time I flew on on Royal Jordanian. I think 80% of the flight lost their backs and there were people that were just panicking in the airport and

And Jordan Amman because none of you know most of them didn't have their rounds with them. So it might seem like something that small but seriously keep your head on with you in your carry on especially if you're flying if this is really more important if you're flying from from Amman or Egypt or whatever it is to gender

because then you're going to pass over the thoughts you're gonna have to go into Iran. Before you get on the plane, make the intention on the plane, we'll talk about that. But you don't want to lose if you're going to Medina first you can buy your home and Medina anywhere you get your phone from the travel agency, whatever it is in Medina anyway, you'll have time to prepare. But if you're flying in, you really want to make sure you have your phone in your carry on that you can take more than one. Okay, you can you can change your run throughout the Hajj, it's fine, you don't have to wear the same cloth. You can change your Quran as many times as you want to you can pack two, three,

whatever it may be, you want to have a backup. That's also fine to have extra round towels, safety pins, okay, you want to pin your prom, you don't want your mom falling off over there. Alright, so you want to be able to pin your prom to some regular safety pins, that's fine, it's totally permissible. And a one belt

and a head on the belt. There are plenty of them in Mecca in Medina. Okay. But again, this is more if you're flying into jet the first, it's good to have that from now you can you can search for it online.

Now, of course, if you buy a home belt, I wish I had an Apple home with me actually. So I can demonstrate. But when you put the when you put the belt on, you put it in a way that it's not showing, okay, so you can actually put it and then wrap the top of your head on the lower piece of your ROM on top of that belt because there will be people that might be trying to steal something from your belt or something of that sort, even if we didn't have that unfortunately. So having a couple on belts is something that again, if you're going to Medina, leave my group you can actually buy the belts in by the end and you don't have to worry about that. One credit card and ATM card for

emergencies and small cash don't pack your entire don't pack everything don't pack all of your credit cards. I know plenty of people that have been robbed over there that lost their things. So just keep one credit card with you one ATM card and a little bit of cash just in case it is important to have just what's necessary. How'd you guys so this is a really good had you got it I think for again, it's concise. It's seven pages, but I hope you'll find it beneficial. I really did try to make sure everything is in there. But when you get to the airport, you will be given a book they'll have some boxes in English and some boxes in Arabic and other languages. So make sure that

you pick one of those books up there very good from the love of rhyming. They're small books, but they're very good for you to keep unscented baby wipes and hand sanitizer,

unscented obviously, you're going to be in a situation where you're exposed to a lot of germs. Right. Keeping a bottle of unscented hand and hand sanitizer is very very, very useful.

Now I just want to make a comment here that you know this was the first year for me that I last year that I went which was last year I took the hand sanitizer and I wore that mask because there are there in the scholars have already stated that it's permissible I personally would recommend that you wear a mask obviously because you don't know what you're going to be breathing over there. I was the last person that Hamdulillah I hope I'm not going to ruin myself this year. I was the last person to get sick in my group I got sick after co authored with them in Medina like like days after we already finished everything. So using the hand sanitizer always the baby wipes when you use any

bathrooms, keeping that mask on. If you're if you're healthy, it's a lot easier to enjoy your Hutch. You know people underestimate that you don't want to be careless to a point where you're gonna get sick like the second day and the last chronotype knows about some people will do all of that still get sick the second day the first second day, but if you're healthy, you enjoy your Hajj a lot more. The first time I went to Hajj in Mina I was I was I had like a 105 fever and I felt like I was going to die for like two three days I couldn't even move and I wasn't doing any of these things. Right but keeping yourself healthy as much as you can in Shell it's it really does help it is useful

grocery bags, why would you need grocery bags,

your shoes, your slippers that isn't wait you know if you if you want to hold on to your shoes, put it in a grocery bag and mark it and put it in a spot.

So that way you'll again you'll take care of your slippers. Ziploc bags for the for the smaller things. Toilet paper, a lot of the bathrooms I'm trying to be as practical as possible you're at home most of the bathrooms that you go through are not going to have any toilet paper whatsoever. So you will thank me if you take toilet paper with you. Brothers and sisters try to take that with you and show love just the wrong or something keep in your back. How many of you have seen what a yoga mat looks like? I'm not encouraging anybody in one study, but it was Danny for everybody sleeps on the street that makes you more

comfortable, I personally like to sleep on the concrete on the rocks. But if it makes you more comfortable, take a yoga mat, you can go to academy, you can go to any of these sports stores or Walmart even and just ask for a yoga mat, you know something to keep, especially for the sisters in particular, in was getting, you're not going to get any accommodations in one study. It isn't a study for company law, it's the part where everybody has to sleep on the ground, everybody sleeps on the rocks. So it's something that you might find useful. One thing I didn't add in here, if you have a problem with walking, this is something's kind of like sort of added in here but I remembered it

just now. If you have a problem with walking, have any of you ever seen they're they're only like three pounds, we like these chairs that you can walk with, you can kind of lean on them. And if you're standing in a long line, and kind of just put them out really quick, just literally put it down and then opens. If you're totally healthy, don't be lazy, you know. But if you're someone who has a problem with that, back issues or something of that, because you will be standing sometimes, for a long period of time, it is good for you, I saw a lot of elders really did benefit from that last year, traveled as light as possible and do not bring valuables with you. I personally if you

can go with just a carry on, you are doing well. All right, with travel light, you don't want to have to deal with suitcases and things of that sort. While you're there. And do not bring anything valuable with you don't even you know Subhanallah I never take my actual phone with me, right just keep that the team, the team Saudi phone, whatever it is, don't bring anything valuable with you over there. You don't want to have that over there because you will lose some things there. Also a Saudi simcard you know, to be able to keep in touch, I think inshallah Tada everyone in our group inshallah will be provided with one. Everyone that's gone with the dot Hajj will be provided with

the SIM card before they even get to Saudi Arabia in sha Allah so that way when you get there, you can communicate with people you can call, but it is useful. And they have those cheap little headphones, Nokia phones, the ones from back in the days, they still have those. You can put your Saudi SIM card in there. And again, I don't recommend taking your actual phone while you're there. Questions.

Is it okay to buy the damper I know a lot of times

if you buy it at the airport, you're gonna pay like 100 yards more than it actually is. Okay? So it's like 50 hours outside 150 hours in the airport. They sell everything in the airport, they just sell it at a serious markup.

All right. Don't be a tourist and a photographer. I hate people whenever they I hate what people do. Actually, I shouldn't say I hate people I cannot stand when someone has their cell phone in the first time. They're going to the grave of the prophets like seven they're doing this. right the first time they're seeing the camera, they're taking out their phones and their counters. If I just it doesn't make any sense. Don't waste your time taking pictures while you're there. If you want to take one picture with the family or something like that, that's fine. I've seen some people try to take pictures while they're making dua right in front of the cabinet so they can post it and they

can show people that you know Masha Allah was making garlic costura clearly in this picture. And you know,

don't bother yourself with that seriously, I will lucky if I could, you know, if I could, I'm not going but my personal advice is don't take any pictures at all, maybe outside one time just to keep the memory but but it is really ridiculous the amount of photography that goes on. Unfortunately, the Saudi police stopped banning people from taking pictures, I actually wish that they did because now when you walk by the grave of the province like Saddam, you're gonna have 10 Cell phones right in front of your face. Everywhere people have got their cell phones and their cameras out. Don't waste your time taking pictures, and it does harm your sincerity. It does harm your sincerity. I

don't care what anybody says I don't care if you're the best person in the world. It will harm your sincerity if you're sitting there trying to get the best shot with the camera in the background or with the profit slice. And that is greater than it will harm your sincerity. So my advice to you is don't even worry about that. It's not the time to take pictures if you want you can Photoshop yourself into a picture that already has the character and you could say that you actually took that picture it's better than actually wasting your time and taking a picture. This is one that's very important. I personally lost my passport the first time I went to Hajj. So make two copies of your

passport. Keep one at home when someone in the United States and take one with you keep just a xerox copy of your passport. Because when you get to someone you get to Saudi Arabia your passport is gone. You're not going to see it until you leave. I don't know if any of you don't know that I'm telling when you get there, they take your passport, you will not see it until you're boarding to leave. Right and it can get lost mine got lost the first time I went. So please make a copy because it's much easier to retrieve your passport if you have a copy of your passport already. While you're there and keep one with someone here at the same time.

Patience and a positive attitude. Things will not go 100% Smooth no matter what package

Your group you are in, I don't care if you pay $20,000, homogenous Hajj, you can be spoiled rotten, and you can gain 50 pounds from all the buffets, if you're going to be eating Hajj is going to be hard, something is going to go wrong, something is going to go wrong. So don't have in your mind that you know, and I hope you know, at least you know, whatever agency or with a child to either either, you know, have the luck, good luck, which has very good ratings and sell it or try to make sure that everything is minimized in our group at least, and you try to minimize you try to plan but at the same time, when you get there, it's a hole, you've got 4 million people at the end of the

day, you've got 14 million people in this small area, something's gonna go wrong. Last year, there was this humongous bus that broke down in the middle of the busiest route coming out of as easy as going to Mecca. And it prevented all of the people that were staying in the apartments. And as easy as shisha from going into the home different times, it just happens. So you have to keep a positive attitude while you're there and be ready to face the unexpected and just go with the flow and hamdulillah Allah subhanaw taala gonna get here. As long as I'm getting my hands done, I don't care if I didn't eat tonight, I don't care if my bus came an hour late Hamdulillah I don't care if my

buses if my my group says you've got a board at 3am. So we can beat traffic hamdulillah Right. Or if I didn't, if you know, we got cheated out of two or three hotel nights, whatever. And hamdulillah there are people that are sleeping in the street, that are happy to be there. They're just happy to meet them. So do not have this attitude that you are a host and you know, I paid for this and I pay for that. You can tell your travel agency up afterwards if they cheated you out or something or things did not or there was clear deception that was not in your head. Now, you know that that's that's the importance of going with a trusted agency. But at the same time, sometimes things will

happen. Okay, sometimes you will get scammed. If you're going with an agency that scans you complain afterwards, just get your head out of the way first. Okay, and then you can do whatever you want afterwards, but do not risk the validity of your house because things did not go right. Yes.

And to her Yes. The Reconciliation with people before you go.

Okay. One for the Koran belt cannot be stitched? Yes. Okay, because it's not fitting a body part. It's not a tailor, again, looking to something that's a tailor. Make sure you have a clear conscious essentially, you want to feel like you're going to the Day of Judgment right now. Right? So you want to make sure before I go to the Day of Judgment I've gotten, I've gotten these things cleared. Right. So that's all that I mean by that. Last thing, do not do what everybody else is doing. 100 Because much of it is wrong. The biggest mistake people make by far is going to Agile just looking around and saying, Well, he has a beard, right? He must know what he's doing. These people are speaking Arabic, they must know what

they're doing.

You will see ignorance at its peak. And it's sad. But look, you'll see people's parabola that are doing the most ignorant of things, and it's going to make you cringe. But don't follow along because hey, they're doing good. I wonder if this isn't? That's the importance of preparation. Because the majority of what you'll see, yes, we have a question. Does the woman have to work late? No. So for the women, the women can wear anything that is Islamically permissible for a woman to wear. Okay, so it can be black white, as long as it isn't too bad. It's our by it's something that covers everything, then it's fine Insha Allah, but it shouldn't be a plain color. It should not be

something that is flashy, or with designs and things of that sort, but it doesn't have to be white. Okay.

All right, some of the important definitions.

When we say a Lucan of hunch, a pillar of habits, that means it's obligatory and if not done, then the habit is invalid, okay. So when you say obligatory in terms of watches, and you say obligatory in terms of broken, it means two different things. A pillar means you cannot make it up. All right, if you miss it, you missed it, your hedge doesn't count. Okay? So when we say it, okay, keep that in mind a pillar. A logic is something that is obligatory, but if not done, then the hedge will still be valid, but the person must offer a physio we'll talk about what affiliate is a sacrifice. Okay? The hands will be valid, but you must offer a sacrifice. So if you miss something you didn't know.
