need to learn more about what our religion is fundamentally based upon and that's what I'm going to inshallah do over the next few weeks. This will be the first in a series of goodbyes, dealing with the qualities of Islam itself. We have spent a lot of time in our life learning about the qualities of a good Muslim, the qualities of a good husband, a good wife, but do you ever wondered what are the qualities of Islam itself? What qualities define the religion? So over the next few weeks, we are going to look at various verses of the Quran and how Jesus described Islam itself. You can translate it as the religion is, is, you can translate it as the religion is practical. You can translate as the religion is simple. All of these translations make sense. And all of that highlights a very important quality of what Islam is.

At the same time, it also highlights in our mind the problem with how we interpret and how we apply Islam today.

Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam described his religion as is.

One of the problems we have today in our community is that we have turned this religion into difficulty.

And so let's go to the full heads and then I'll explain what is meant by the religion disease and where we went off in this area.

So the prophet SAW Allah, Allah He was an observed this religion is is then he said, and this is perhaps the most important part of the Hadith that relates to us as a community. He said,

Li You shall do

Through the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said his religion is practical. This religion is simple, this religion is easy. People will come who will make this religion hard. When somebody does that, they will be able to practice what they preach. They will make the religion so hard that they can't even apply themselves. And so Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in this Hadees he's warning us against different types of extremism.

And yet he gives us advice. And he tells us all

right, he tells us to he said do only one option. Three things. Sunday, follow the straight path. All you gradually grow closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. Take your time, don't, don't try to do too much at once, while observing and give each other good news motivate each other, to put each other down motivate each other to be better Muslims. As to this Hadees it gives us a comprehensive understanding of what this religion is. this religion is meant to be a simple, practical way of life. And in the same duration is a warning that anyone who tries to change that is going to beat Islam to heart. And this really is a problem that we have today. That many, many people when you ask

them, why don't you follow Islam? There's number one requires it's too hard.

And we have to wonder, is Islam too hard? Or is the way we interpret it too?

And this generally two reasons why people find Islam too hard to follow. The first reason comes from within the knifes that Islam goes against our Nazi goes

against what we want to do. And that's a bit of hardness. But that's a necessary part of the religion. And I will comment More on that in a second.

But the other reason why people find Islam hard it is sometimes we unnecessarily make Islam.

From the way we interpret it to the fatawa, we give to the unnecessary rules that we add to this religion, people have made this religion Hi. So today I want to explain very briefly, what is meant by this religion is easy, and going to divide it into two parts. The first football will focus on the fifth part, write the laws of Islam, and how that relates to ease. And the second part, the second part will focus on the spiritual part. How does religion grants us ease when it comes to spirituality and the purification of our soul? So to begin, how is this religion easy from a faith perspective? It is easy in the sense that Allah has made most of the things in this world. Hello,

something that is harmful. The only things Allah has prohibited are the things that are harmful to us. Gambling, alcohol, fornication, these things are harmful to society. Sometimes people see the harm sometimes they don't, but the harms are there. And this is where our has prohibited them. Now one of the beautiful qualities of our religion is that if you had to make a list of things that are wrong, it will fill up a page. If you had to make a list of things that are hollow, it will fill volumes. Because almost everything in this world is hollow, unless it is either explicitly mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah is haram or something that is harmful. If something is harmful, then yes,

Allah might have the right to declared her wrong, even if he's not mentioned in the Quran. Excellent. So the first point how is this religion practical or simple or easy? Allah has made everything of this world hung out for us, except for what is harmful. And these double easy this. The first is we don't have to go looking for passwords for everything. Anytime someone invents a new technology we don't need a fatwa whether this is a holiday or not, the default is Hello. The other way makes life easy for us is it protects us from what is harmful to us. So someone who follows the Sharia is not going to have to deal with the harms of alcohol, the harms of gambling the harms of

dinner, and so the life becomes easy because all of this harm is removed from the life.

The second way in which this religion is easy,

can be extracted from directly from the Quran. In surah baqarah chapter number two verse 185, which unless you have a handle with Allah describes the laws of Ramadan. Allah subhanaw taala says in this in this verse, a very profound verse, he says, the month of Ramadan, in which the Quran was revealed, he said, You should Fox and then he says, if you are sick or traveling, make it up later. But the next part of the verse is most relevant to this topic. What is Allah says what does he see? is the reason why we should make it up later. You read a lot because we'll use raw you need to become apostle. Allah Subhana Allah says, You should make it up later if you are sick while

traveling. Because allow wants to make things easy for you. He does not want to make things happen. This was 185 of Surah Baqarah. Allah wants you Sir, he does not want he wants to make things easy for us. And so from here, we can extract two other ways in which our religion is easy from a pig perspective. The second lesson we can take from that verse regarding the qualities of the Sharia, that make it easy, is that Allah has blessed us with a Sharia that is full of concessions that for almost every rule, there is a substitute, when it gets too difficult. What do we mean by this? If you cannot read you pray Juma? You prefer to cook at home, like many of us did during the level five lockdown, right? If you cannot make we do you make

the ammo. Right? If you cannot pass in the month of Ramadan, someone has a chronic illness, he the video. So for every law in our religion, it's not like every single person has to pass till they die. No, they are, you know, this is on one hand, it is a difficulty you can delayed. On the other hand, it is a chronic illness, you can pay video instead, all of these laws are there because Allah one speaks too easy for us. And so this is a warning in this harness against extremism. And the final way in which religion is easy from a faith perspective, is that the following the obligation upon us are very few

But Allah help us to understand our religion properly and to practice it properly or offering Dawa.

And he said this three times, Allah wants things to be easy for us. He does not want things to be difficult for us. And so from the fundamental qualities of our religion is useful. It is a simple, practical way of life. But then the question comes,

what about the difficult parts of the religion? Don't we have to wake up?

That's not easy. Right? Don't we have to stay away from Xena? For many people? That's not easy. Don't we have to go through tests and trials in our life? That's not easy.

And so the answer to this is that certain difficulties unnecessary for our spiritual growth. There are certain difficulties which are not difficult in the sense that you can't do it. It's difficult because our nafs needs controlling our naps needs taming. We need to go through those difficulties to become better people. We see this with the stories of the prophets, Yusuf alayhi salam, all the difficulties he went through which molding into the man he became, is the same in our lives, the difficulties even something like waking up a slack with a budget.

There is so much benefit in making up a certain budget, it over powers the difficulty that we feel of waking up at that time, because the impact it has on our soul is profound, to be the person who is awake before the sunrise worshiping the Creator, that is one of the best thing you can do for you enough, that is one of the best thing you can do to purify your soul. And so the benefits of these things outweigh the difficulty and that's why they are part of the Sharia. So what is the spiritual side of this religion is the first way that this religion is essentially is that the difficulty we experienced, make us better people. And so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, that

amazing is the life of the believer when something good happens, and he is grateful, it is good for him. When something bad happens and he has sober It is also good for him. Why? Because in both the spiritual growth in both it is getting closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. In both we become better people, when something good happens and our heart grows in sugar, a gratitude, it brings us closer to Allah. And when something bad happens, and we are we have struggled, and we remain close to Allah subhana wa Taala. It makes us better Muslims. And so the first way in which this religion is an ease for spiritually is that it makes us better people. Number two, is that our religion gives us the

tools to deal with the difficulties of life. I want you to imagine this one scenario. Imagine if we never had the concept of Africa and China? How would we cope with the death of a loved one?

Just think about that. How would we cope with the death of our loved ones, if Allah had not blessed us with these with these beliefs, and the systems like slavery, and the workup and acceptance of

these things make life easier for us. Everybody deals with debt, but they believe we're able to deal with it better, because we have the concept of other we have the concept of Africa we have the concept of sovereign, and all of these things work together to help us to cope with the death of our loved ones.

The third way in which this religion is easy for us is that it brings Baraka to our lives.

Baraka is something that only the believer experiences, and it is a kurama it is a miracle from Allah subhanho wa Taala that almost everyone experiences at some point in their life or another whether it is Baraka, in wealth of America, in America in time, America, whatever it is, in our efforts, when someone makes a small effort, any any impact millions of people, that Baraka is a gift from Allah, and it makes life easy for us. You could do one good deed, and you could be rewarded for it a million times over that is the Baraka pin. Except it could be because you may, for example, write a book, and a million people could read that book and benefit from that book. And so you get

the reward of of teaching a million people, but you did a few hours of action. To me, that is powerful. And so this is from the ease of our religion, spiritually, that one action one good deed, to reward multiplies and multiplies and multiplies beyond our imagination. For one cent we get only one cent and that is from the mercy of Allah subhanho wa Taala. And so with that, we conclude and remind you to each and every one of us have the words of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, this religion is easy, and if someone makes it difficult on themselves, they will not be able to follow it. If you make everything Haram in you will not be able to follow it even on anybody else.
