Qur’an In Ramadan #2B – Is Recitation Alone Sufficient

Bismillah R Rahman r Rahim Al hamdu lillah wa salatu salam ala Rasulillah. I'm about to welcome back to our second session. As we learn together the manifest

etiquettes the important morals and mannerisms that each and every one of us must adopt with the book of Allah subhanho wa taala. Now, just before the break, we started discussing the importance of pondering and deliberating over the lessons found in the book of Allah azza wa jal and weidel kaha Allah subhanho wa Taala says in his book, women home, only Yuna lair Allah Muna al Kitab Illa Imani right, so Allah subhanho wa Taala speaks about a group of people. In this particular verse, Allah subhanho wa Taala says that from them is a group of people that do not know anything about the book, except to recite it.

And Allah subhanahu Attallah is not speaking about them in a praiseworthy fashion. No, Allah subhanho wa Taala instead wants us to understand our instruction and our Constitution. Even I should, in other Mufasa further said that this verse refers to the actual receipt reciting of the Quran or the actual recitation of the Quran in haste, without contemplating over the messages within

them. So this is what some of the lemma have actually taught us from this particular verse, Thus, reinforcing the important points that we made manifest and made clear to one and all before the break the importance of pondering over the verses in the Quran. This is something which is importantly to worship Allah subhanho wa taala. Or first and foremost, we need to understand that we are worshipping Allah subhanho wa taala. Through pondering over these verses, this should be the good manners with the Quran, oh servants of Allah may Allah subhanho wa Taala grant us this understanding and this ability. Allah subhanho wa Taala also says in his book that the likeness of

those entrusted with the obligation of the Torah, but subsequently failed in those obligations, they are like, or they like this is like the likeness of a donkey who carries a huge burden of books. Right? Who carries a huge burden of books, and they do not understand anything from it. Subhanallah right. So what's the point of that you have a large library of books, right full of lessons full of guidance, but you don't open those books, you don't learn from them, you don't understand the lessons from them, they cease to be of any benefit, besides us taking up space, besides just being a burden, just like a huge burden, or a huge amount of books is a burden to a person carrying it in

this case, Allah subhanho wa Taala likens it to the burden experienced by a donkey. So we need to understand Oh servants of Allah, that this is very important. This is criteria we need to ponder and deliberate we need to visit the Adama and ask them we need to busy them, teach us make us understand what does this first mean And subhanAllah we will find that we have we will have a greater concentration as well as tranquility in our Salah and we are in great need of ensuring the highest standards in terms of the quality of our Salah For we know that Shavon when he can stop us from worshipping Allah subhanahu Italia in a particular manner. He does everything to ensure that the

quality of that worship is poor. And that's where we find that many people complain that as soon as they start their salah, they remember a whole host of issues which they wouldn't even remember if they tried to outside of Salah May Allah subhanahu wa taala protect us also, questions come through how can we improve our concentration in our Salah How can we raise the levels of tranquility, that one experiences during his or her Salah from the waves and mannerisms are doing so is to understand that which you are reading and understanding that which you are reading happens in the form of understanding the verses that are being recited and that understanding becomes even more apparent

when we ponder and deliberate over the verses found in the book of Allah subhanho wa Taala Allah subhanho wa Taala also says in his book, I shall turn away from my versus those who behave arrogantly on the earth without a right and even if they see all the ayat, the proofs, the evidence of diversity, etc. They will not believe in them. And if they see the way of righteousness, which is to heat and Islam and Eman and following the the teachings of the messenger of allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam they will not adopt it as the way but if they see the way of error

They will adopt that way. That is because they have rejected Our Verses. Our evidence is our signs and we're heedless, and we're heedless. This is the area of concentration in this particular verse, They were heedless to learn a lesson from those verses. So we ask Allah subhanho wa Taala to protect us from heedlessness in regards to what some of the fuqaha have said in this regard, we find even Kodama, the famous humbly scholar he says that sending actually prevents one from understanding the book of Allah subhanho wa taala. And obviously this lesson is manifest from diverse that we have just covered together. So knowing understand or servants of Allah, that understanding the Quran

contemplating over it is criteria, right. It will help us improve our concentration in Salah it will help us improve our association with the Quran. It will assist us in building our agenda in gaining rewards in having a stronger association with the Quran. Subhanallah obey Allah Allah and Allah He, you you can't help but learn every day, even if you recite that verse over and over again. And this is a fact. This is a fact. I mean, if you speak to those that really have been blessed by having a strong association with the Quran, they themselves will will bear testimony to this, they will testify to this important fact that I've just mentioned that they recite the Quran, even if it's one

Allah subhanahu Attallah. And this point is not only specific to the Quran, it's specific to all our worship of Allah subhanho wa taala, even when we invoke aid, right and worship Allah subhanho wa Taala through the various ADKAR It is one thing to just recite it on the tongue without a present mind and heart. But it is another thing to recite it to Say Subhan Allah and really understand what you're saying Alhamdulillah and understand what you're saying, Allahu Akbar, and understand what you're saying. And the same thing applies with the Quran. If we read it, just on our tongues, in a manner that nothing penetrates our throats, our voice boxes, meaning nothing reaches our hearts,

then, indeed, we will fail to learn anything from the Quran. May Allah subhanho wa Taala protect us and the Allama have gone to great lengths in teaching us the importance of having a present heart, a present heart that you actually know what you are reciting, you actually

see the words feel the words and thus feel the lessons this is important. So it's not only tongue worship, even though Allah subhanho wa Taala rewards a person for reciting a letter in the Quran with the Hassan and the husband is equal to 10 rewards but the rewards are greater for the one that has a present

Hot a present mind. So this is important. So we've covered two points that prevent a person from the setup bar from contemplating and deliberating. One is being sinful, right for sins, prevent knowledge, that is from the light of Allah subhanho wa taala. It prevents it from entering the heart. The second point that we've just covered is the importance of having a present heart when actually worshiping Allah subhanho wa taala. And, more specifically, reading the Quran, in other point are servants of Allah, that prevent one from the board is not understanding that which we are reading and that which we are reciting. But this is not a problem. Why? Because at Hamdulillah, as I

said earlier, Allah has blessed us with those knowledgeable about the Quran Alhamdulillah meaning Allah has blessed us by allowing us to have them within our vicinity, right? We all have those people in our communities, in our cities, in our towns, that have been blessed by Allah subhanho wa taala, and that they have an understanding

in terms of the lessons and the verses in the Quran, and we should utilize them, we should go to them and ask them to teach us or we should find a translation of the Quran, read the meaning go to them, confirm the meaning and contemplate over that lesson. So there's no excuse not understanding the Quran really is no more an excuse, we have the tools and the abilities to do so. And we should do so and Allah subhanho wa Taala will reward us in that as well. So with that, our time has come to an end for this particular session. So in summary, today we learned about the book and that it is from the great manners and etiquettes with the book of Allah subhanho wa taala. We discussed verses

from the Quran and from the teachings of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam in regards to it. And then we went on to learn the reasons that prevent a person from contemplating and deliberating over the Quran. And we discussed three in particular, firstly, is the presence of sins secondly is not having a pleasant heart when worshiping Allah subhanho wa taala. And thirdly, we discussed the issue of a person actually not understanding that which they are actually learning and we said that that is no more an excuse in today's day and age for Al Hamdulillah. We have the dilemma and we have a translation of the Quran amidst us. Inshallah, in our next session, we will continue with to
