Nadim Bashir – Hadith of the Day #05 – Showing Mercy

			Salam Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh Welcome to another segment of Hadith of the day where we
take a quote of our Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and we learn lessons from it. In
these days, well we are at home and there is a pandemic going on. We always are asking for Allah's
mercy. Oh Allah have mercy upon us. Oh Allah alleviate us from this challenge that we are going
through. The question is that how will the Mercy of Allah subhanho wa Taala come to us? Are we truly
deserving of Allah's mercy or not? There's a hadith of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa salam that
tells us that which people are deserving of Allah's mercy, and upon whom will Allah's mercy come
		

			upon? There's a hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Amara, the Allah and there's a hadith mentioned in
January Timothy, where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he says, a raw honeymoon, your humble
home Ramadan, it hammelmann Fill out the you're hungry, you're hungry. You're hungry man for summer,
the promise that Allahu Allah He was sent I'm saying, The Merciful will be shown mercy but the Most
Merciful. Once again, look at the words of the Prophet salaam, the one who is merciful, for the most
part mean that sometimes they can be merciful and sometimes they may not be merciful. He sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam is saying that the one who exhibits the most amount of Mercy will have mercy upon
		

			this person. And then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says, Be merciful to those on earth,
and Allah and the one in the heavens will have mercy upon you. Now Subhan Allah, this is a first of
all, as I said yesterday, this is a Hadith that falls into the category of Joab nearly cut him there
is so less in words, but it's so impactful in his soul filled in so rich in meaning. First of all,
is that brothers and sisters, when we talk about the two names of Allah subhanho wa taala, the two
names of Allah that we take every single time before you and I we read the Quran, before we read the
Quran in our salon, what do we say? Bismillah R Rahman Rahim. We always call Allah subhana wa Tada
		

			by these two beautiful names, and a Rahmani r Rahim while they come from the same root letters. They
have some slight differences in terms of meaning, first of all, is that before I go any further I
want to share with you a hadith Guzzi a very beautiful Hadith you could see where Allah subhanho wa
Taala he says, I know Rahman so Allah subhana wa Taala is introducing himself as a raw man. And
think about this, you know, when you talk to someone or when you meet someone for the very first
time in your life, and they say to you that what do you do for an occupation? Or What's your
occupation? What do you do as a profession, you always present the thing that you pride the most
		

			about or the you are the most proud about yourself? Like if you are for example, an engineer and you
are a great engineer, and you may do some things on the side. When someone asks you for the very
first time though, what do you do as an as your occupation? You say, I'm an engineer and I work for
this kind of company. Because that's how you send a strong message to the other person. In this how
you could say Allah subhanho wa Taala he's introducing himself. I am a Ramadan in Bismillah R Rahman
Rahim what comes first A Rahman Rahim first comes out Rahman, Allah is introducing himself I am a
Ramadan. Now first now this ramen in this has occurred say Allah subhanho wa Taala says, and a ramen

			When Allah subhana wa Tada
		

			It says that I have derived the word Rahaman from the womb of the mother. What does that mean? See,
the womb of the mother is a place of protection. It is a source of protection. It is a place where a
human being grows. In this womb of the mother, a person develops and is nurtured in an amazing way
as Allah subhanho wa Taala highlights in the Quran. The child inside the womb of the mother is
always taking care of 24/7. In fact, from the day, the mother conceives, the mother is always
worried about the baby. She's always worried about that baby that's growing in her womb. And not
only that, but there is an interesting relationship also between the mother and the baby. See, the
		

			baby has no idea who the mother is. The baby has no idea who's taking care of it. The baby has no
idea that does this person where I am, does this person love me or not? This baby has no idea. On
the other hand, the mother, she loves this baby so much. She cares for this baby so much. She always
looks after this baby so much. And you know, mothers when they conceive, they go through so many
difficulties in just maintaining this baby. And yet, despite the fact that they go through all these
difficulties, when they have that baby, and while they're going through those months leading up to
delivery, they care and they do so much for the baby. And so when this happens, when this happens,
		

			this gives us sort of an idea. This gives us an idea that if the mother has so much Rama and mercy
towards her baby, think about the Mercy of Allah subhana wa Tada Subhan Allah. Allah subhanho wa
Taala as Mercy has no bounds, Allah's Mercy has no limits. There is no one who can come close to the
Mercy of Allah subhanho wa taala. And you know, some people have asked that one what is the
difference between a Rahmani Raheem? The difference in a Rahman Rahim is that the word Ramadan
applies to mercy when Allah shows his mercy to people who believe in Allah and people who disbelieve
in Allah subhanho wa taala. Allah will show both of them mercy, Allah will show mercy to the
		

			animals. Allah subhanho wa Taala will show a show mercy to the enemies ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala he
shows mercy to everyone. This is what a Ramadan means. A Rahim applause implies wide that Allah
subhanho wa Taala shows mercy only to those who believe in Allah subhanho wa taala. Now
linguistically, some have said that Ramadan means the one who is extremely merciful, or Rahim is the
one who is consistently merciful. This is also another meaning. But the whole idea is once again,
that when Allah subhanho wa Taala is so merciful. Allah subhanho wa Taala is telling us that if you
have mercy upon other people, Allah will have mercy upon you, and is no different than other things.
		

			If we are forgiving towards other people, Allah will forgive us. If we feed other people, Allah will
feed us. If I give food to other people, Allah will give us even more. So this is the concept and
this is how ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala works. And not only that, but the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam going back to the original Hadith I said, where the prophet saw some he says a raw honeymoon.
Now when Allah says when the Prophet some says a raw honeymoon, look at the words very closely and
if you are a student of the Arabic language, you know that this is a plural word, and this is Israel
Farrell. Now, what does a small file imply? It implies that a person does it for the most part, but
		

			they don't do it all the time. Like you know, when we see a person who is a worshipper, a very
devout worshiper, what do we call them? We call them an eye a bit, like same on the scale of a small
fire. I mean that they worship Allah subhanho wa Taala abundantly they worship Allah subhanho wa
Taala consistently Now does that mean that they are worshiping Allah 24/7? Absolutely not. In the
Quran when ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala talks to us about the person who writes and who documents matters,
like in the in the idea that Allah talks about taking loans and giving out loans, Allah subhanho wa
Taala he uses the word cat tip in that idea. What does it mean? It means a person who writes now
		

			this person who's writing is writing 24/7. No, in fact, there are going to be times when he's not
writing. So what this raw Moon implies is that we
		

			Do we show mercy for the most part, but there are times because we're human beings at the end of the
day, we may get angry, we may snap here and there and there's nothing wrong in doing and snapping or
getting angry. As long as as I mentioned yesterday, we cannot become a victim to our anger. We
cannot become a victim to our frustration, where we start taking out our frustration anger upon
other people, and we do learn upon other people. But the point is this is that a person who shows
mercy towards other people, first of all, is that that mercy is from Allah subhanho wa taala. And
then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saying that when you show mercy towards other people,
		

			that Allah will show mercy to you. Now interestingly, also to note in this hadith another thing we
learned is that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not mention anything about Muslims, or
the Muslim community. So in days like these, when we're going through a pandemic, people are losing
their jobs and may Allah subhanho wa Taala help them immensely. There are people who, who are at
home stranded at home, they have no idea what to do. They have no idea you know, they're not they
don't have food to eat.
		

			We ask Allah subhanho wa Taala to help everyone, whether they are from our faith communities or any
other faith communities. In these times, the province of Islam is basically saying if you have mercy
upon anyone, it could be Muslim, someone from another faith community, when you have mercy upon
anyone, the one who has the most amount of mercy, the one who shows the most amount of Mercy Allah
subhanaw taala will have mercy upon us Inshallah, in these days, so ask ALLAH SubhanA wa taala. They
in times like these, especially in times like these, let's have mercy towards one another. Let's
exhibit our mercy towards one another. And I will say this also that because we are at home, we are
		

			at home, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam when he was at home, he was always a means of
mercy. Why do you think Allah subhanho wa Taala when he says, women it and Haleakala, Coleman and
fusi come, as well as elitist guru LA, wa ala bein accom, my word Dalton wahama. When we have this
mercy upon each other in our families, we're not abusive towards each other in our families, we are
gentle towards one another, because this is what Rama is, when I said earlier about the womb of the
mother and the mother taking care. She's so gentle, Likewise, Allah subhanho wa Taala is gentle, but
if we are gentle with other people, Allah will be gentle with us. So a father has a responsibility,
		

			to be gentle, to Be merciful, just like Allah subhanaw taala overlooks our mistakes on so many
different occasions. Allah forgives us abundantly likewise, we should be forgiving to each other in
our families, do not hold grudges do not hold things against each other for you know, for months and
years have that mercy forgive one another. So in days like these, especially, you know, when it
comes to like fathers, even mothers, they can become really frustrated, really, you know, angry at
times because the kids are at home and so forth. But this is a time when we show our mercy if we
show our mercy in times when it matters most. See, it's very important also to understand that I can
		

			show mercy at other times. But when the test comes, when push comes to shove, as they say, and when
the real test comes that you got to show your mercy and we don't show our mercy. That means that we
don't have a merciful attitude. But when the time comes, just like in times, like we are today,
people are losing their jobs, but yet they're going out and they're helping other people. They're
putting a smile on someone else's face. They're trying to spread that love and mercy in their
community. In times like these then inshallah Allah will have mercy upon them to when we're at home
with our families. This is the test. If we have mercy Insha Allah, Allah will show us his mercy. And
		

			if we don't have mercy towards other people, especially especially our family members, then Allah
subhana wa Taala will not show mercy to us either. This is the way Allah subhanaw taala works. Ask
Allah subhana wa Taala to give all of us ability to act one has been sent a hurt, I ask Allah
subhanho wa Taala that he makes us amongst those who are the recipient of his Rama and his mercy,
