no matter what kind of salah that is

for the nafil or sunnah,

We ask Allah for

Allah

told us

what is that Surah Al Mustafi.

Allah mentioned in the same surah itself.

The Sirat, the path

on whom Allah

bestowed His blessing and mercy and gifts.

verily the people who are blessed by Allah

are the messengers, are the Rasuls, are the

prophets of Allah

is their Imam

is the first and the foremost

of the Ambia and

is the last and final

00:03:35--> 00:03:36

of the and

00:03:37--> 00:03:40

the Rasul Rasul of Allah

So, therefore, Allah

told us

in the Quran

to ask us for

to ask us for the path of righteousness

and guidance

and told us that this path is the

path of the Ambiya

and among the Ambiya

is the one we follow. Rasool Allah is

the last and final of them and the

and the Imam of all of them.

And about him Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala

took an oath by the Quran

and said that

So therefore,

we know that the

which we are asking Allah for

is the path of Rasulullah

Jannah won't just happen by itself. So Allah

destination

even though that is the destination of this

path. Allah

told us to ask for the path.

Even in this dunya, we know what you

look at when you are,

in organization consulting. You know, we have, we

00:05:22--> 00:05:23

talk about the

00:05:23--> 00:05:26

vision of the organization and so on. But

00:05:26--> 00:05:27

what do you focus on? You focus on

00:05:27--> 00:05:29

the systems. You focus on the processes. You

00:05:29--> 00:05:30

focus on the methods.

00:05:31--> 00:05:33

You don't say simply sit there and think

00:05:33--> 00:05:35

about the vision. It won't happen. If your

00:05:35--> 00:05:37

processes are not in place, if your systems

00:05:37--> 00:05:39

are not in place, if you are not

00:05:39--> 00:05:41

doing the things you are supposed to be

00:05:41--> 00:05:43

doing, that vision is only a pipe dream.

00:05:43--> 00:05:46

It is never going to come true because

00:05:46--> 00:05:48

you are not taking the path which leads

00:05:48--> 00:05:49

to the vision.

00:05:49--> 00:05:51

Nobody doubts that you want that vision. Right?

00:05:51--> 00:05:53

The vision isn't it's true. We are not

00:05:53--> 00:05:54

saying that,

00:05:54--> 00:05:56

when you say I want Jannah that you

00:05:56--> 00:05:58

are lying. No. You're not lying. You are

00:05:58--> 00:06:00

speaking the truth. You want Jannah but the

00:06:00--> 00:06:02

reality of life is that this duniya

00:06:03--> 00:06:04

is the eyes.

00:06:04--> 00:06:07

This dunya is a place for work. This

00:06:07--> 00:06:09

dunya is a place where we have to

00:06:09--> 00:06:09

make effort.

00:06:13--> 00:06:15

Allah said for the human being is only

00:06:15--> 00:06:16

what he works for.

00:06:17--> 00:06:18

So that is the reason why Allah subhanahu

00:06:18--> 00:06:21

wa ta'ala drew our attention to the importance

00:06:21--> 00:06:23

of work, the importance of action and said

00:06:23--> 00:06:26

most of you ask for this path and

00:06:26--> 00:06:27

stay on the path.

00:06:29--> 00:06:30

Right? Stay on the path.

00:06:31--> 00:06:33

Allah did not say, run fast so that

00:06:33--> 00:06:34

you will reach Jannah. No. You will lead

00:06:34--> 00:06:36

Jannah InshaAllah as long as you are on

00:06:36--> 00:06:39

this path then this path will take you

00:06:39--> 00:06:39

to Jannah.

00:06:40--> 00:06:41

This path cannot

00:06:41--> 00:06:43

misguide you, cannot mislead you because this is

00:06:43--> 00:06:45

the path of the

00:06:46--> 00:06:48

but if you stray away from the path

00:06:48--> 00:06:49

then obviously

00:06:50--> 00:06:52

it cannot lead to Jannah because there is

00:06:52--> 00:06:54

one path through Jannah. Every path does not

00:06:54--> 00:06:56

lead to Jannah and that is one of

00:06:56--> 00:06:56

the,

00:06:57--> 00:06:58

many

00:06:59--> 00:07:00

mistaken impressions

00:07:00--> 00:07:02

that, people seem to have,

00:07:03--> 00:07:05

to say that every path leads to Jannah.

00:07:05--> 00:07:07

If every path led to Jannah, then what

00:07:07--> 00:07:08

was the need for an Rabi? What was

00:07:08--> 00:07:09

the need for?

00:07:10--> 00:07:11

What was the need for the Quran? Live

00:07:11--> 00:07:13

your life, you will get to Jannah anyway.

00:07:13--> 00:07:15

So that is not the that's not even

00:07:15--> 00:07:16

logically,

00:07:17--> 00:07:19

doesn't even make sense. So there is one

00:07:19--> 00:07:21

path and that path is called Islam and

00:07:21--> 00:07:24

that Islam is what Rasool Allah sallam brought.

So when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is saying

the path of

00:07:29--> 00:07:31

the path of steadfastness, this is the path

00:07:31--> 00:07:33

of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. And this is

00:07:33--> 00:07:36

what underlines the importance of the sunnah because

00:07:36--> 00:07:37

what is the path of Rabi sallallahu alaihi

00:07:37--> 00:07:40

sallam? It is the way he led his

00:07:40--> 00:07:40

life.

00:07:41--> 00:07:43

Every aspect of his life.

00:07:43--> 00:07:46

Is it does it, is it restricted to

00:07:46--> 00:07:48

to one particular aspect? Allah

00:07:53--> 00:07:55

For you, the best example is the life

00:07:55--> 00:07:56

of my Nabi

Allah did not specify any particular part of

his blessed life. Allah did not say his

00:08:03--> 00:08:05

domestic life or his public life or his

00:08:05--> 00:08:06

life as a

head of state or his life as a

00:08:09--> 00:08:10

head of the army or his life as

00:08:11--> 00:08:13

a when he used to do trading as

00:08:13--> 00:08:13

a businessman.

00:08:14--> 00:08:17

Or his life. Do you know? Allah

00:08:17--> 00:08:19

said the life of Muhammad

00:08:19--> 00:08:20

is

a good example, is a best example.

For the one

who believes in the day of judgement, looks

forward to the day of judgement, looks forward

to the meeting with Allah

and engages in the zikr of Allah

00:08:38--> 00:08:38

greatly.

00:08:39--> 00:08:41

So Allah mentioned very clearly, if you are

serious about your Islam, if you are serious

00:08:43--> 00:08:45

about reading Jannah, then hold on to the

00:08:45--> 00:08:46

way of Muhammad

Now out of this whole life,

00:08:50--> 00:08:52

as I mentioned, what must I pick? What

00:08:52--> 00:08:54

must I choose? Answer is you do not

00:08:54--> 00:08:56

pick and you do not choose. You take

00:08:56--> 00:08:57

the whole thing because it comes as a

00:08:57--> 00:08:59

package. It doesn't come in bits and pieces.

00:08:59--> 00:09:01

It doesn't we have been we have not

00:09:01--> 00:09:03

been left to pick and choose from the

00:09:03--> 00:09:04

life of our

00:09:05--> 00:09:06

soul that which suits us and leave out

00:09:06--> 00:09:09

that which does not suit us. Because following

00:09:10--> 00:09:13

is a function of effect of love for

00:09:13--> 00:09:13

somebody.

00:09:14--> 00:09:16

Following what does following mean? I mean this

00:09:16--> 00:09:18

has been used the word following has been

00:09:18--> 00:09:21

used in the Quran in several places in

00:09:21--> 00:09:21

different context.

00:09:22--> 00:09:24

And the point that I always make is

00:09:24--> 00:09:26

what is the what is the implication of

00:09:26--> 00:09:26

following?

00:09:27--> 00:09:29

See, there is a difference. If I take

you by the hand and I say come

00:09:31--> 00:09:33

with me, are you following me?

00:09:33--> 00:09:35

You're not following me. You're coming with me

00:09:35--> 00:09:36

because I am grabbing you by the hand.

00:09:37--> 00:09:39

Right? I'm not leaving you with any choice.

00:09:39--> 00:09:41

You have no choice. I've grabbed you by

00:09:41--> 00:09:42

the hand. I've grabbed you by the neck

00:09:42--> 00:09:43

or whatever it is and I'm, you know,

00:09:43--> 00:09:46

carrying you or I'm dragging you or I'm

00:09:46--> 00:09:48

leading you. So you can say I, you

00:09:48--> 00:09:50

know, I'm going with so and so. Allah

00:09:50--> 00:09:52

is not saying that. Allah is saying

00:09:52--> 00:09:55

the one who follows Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

00:09:55--> 00:09:56

So what is the meaning of follow?

00:09:57--> 00:09:58

Follow means that

00:09:59--> 00:10:00

the choice to follow is yours.

00:10:02--> 00:10:04

Right? Choice to follow is yours.

00:10:04--> 00:10:06

Path has been shown to you and we

00:10:06--> 00:10:07

have been told this is the way of

00:10:07--> 00:10:09

Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, follow this way.

00:10:10--> 00:10:12

So following means what? Following means choice is

00:10:12--> 00:10:14

yours. So we have to actively make a

00:10:14--> 00:10:16

choice. When you make a choice to follow

00:10:16--> 00:10:18

something, what does what does that mean? It

00:10:18--> 00:10:19

means that you like to follow that.

00:10:20--> 00:10:22

How else and why else will you do

00:10:22--> 00:10:23

it? Because you are on your own. I

00:10:23--> 00:10:25

mean, if you could have chosen to follow

00:10:25--> 00:10:27

something else, but you didn't do that. You

00:10:27--> 00:10:29

chose to follow this particular way which means

00:10:29--> 00:10:31

that you love to follow that way. And

00:10:31--> 00:10:33

that is the reason why Allah said

00:10:39--> 00:10:41

Allah said, say to them, you Muhammad

00:10:42--> 00:10:44

those who claim to love Allah

00:10:45--> 00:10:46

make my itiba

00:10:47--> 00:10:47

follow

00:10:48--> 00:10:50

me. He didn't say obey me. He didn't

00:10:50--> 00:10:52

say itaat, he said itiba. He said follow

00:10:52--> 00:10:55

me. Now for Itaat is a there is

00:10:55--> 00:10:56

a hokum. So do this.

00:10:57--> 00:10:58

You do it or you don't do it,

00:10:58--> 00:11:01

and then you are obedient or disobedient. But

00:11:01--> 00:11:03

Ita, it has there's no hokum and Itaiva.

In it just means you follow because you

Why do you wear this kind of shirt

or this kind of trousers? Because I like

Is anybody paying you for it? No. I

is anybody forcing? Nobody's forcing. Why are you

doing it? I like to do it.

00:11:19--> 00:11:20

So the point is that you are doing

00:11:20--> 00:11:23

it because you love this. Now in this

00:11:23--> 00:11:26

case, what is Allah saying? Allah is saying,

00:11:26--> 00:11:29

tell them those who claim to love Allah

00:11:31--> 00:11:32

Tell them to make

00:11:33--> 00:11:34

your Tell them follow me.

00:11:36--> 00:11:38

Imitate me. Emulate me.

00:11:38--> 00:11:41

Right? Then what will happen? Then Allah will

00:11:41--> 00:11:41

love you.

00:11:42--> 00:11:44

See the reward of following Rasool Allah

00:11:45--> 00:11:46

will love you.

00:11:46--> 00:11:47

So one is

00:11:48--> 00:11:50

and Allah will forgive your sins.

00:11:52--> 00:11:53

Allah is the one who forgives,

00:11:54--> 00:11:58

and who is merciful. Now point is that

00:11:58--> 00:12:00

one, you are on the right path inshallah

00:12:00--> 00:12:02

when you have been following

00:12:03--> 00:12:05

there is no doubt about the fact that

00:12:05--> 00:12:06

you are on the right path.

00:12:06--> 00:12:08

Secondly, is Allah

00:12:08--> 00:12:11

will love you. Now, think about this. If

00:12:11--> 00:12:13

you are on the right path of guidance

00:12:13--> 00:12:15

and if Allah loves you, then where is

00:12:15--> 00:12:16

the doubt that you will end up in

00:12:16--> 00:12:17

Jannah? This is I

00:12:18--> 00:12:19

mean, where else will you end up?

00:12:20--> 00:12:22

But condition. And the condition is that we

00:12:22--> 00:12:23

follow Rasulullah

00:12:24--> 00:12:25

completely and totally.

00:12:26--> 00:12:28

This does not mean that we pick and

00:12:28--> 00:12:30

choose what we like and we live out

00:12:30--> 00:12:31

what we don't like. No.

00:12:31--> 00:12:33

We follow them, the prophet

00:12:34--> 00:12:35

completely and totally

00:12:35--> 00:12:37

in every aspect of his life.

00:12:37--> 00:12:40

In everything that he did, how he did,

00:12:40--> 00:12:41

what he did. We try to follow that

00:12:41--> 00:12:43

to the best of our ability and we

00:12:43--> 00:12:44

ask Allah

00:12:45--> 00:12:47

for his pleasure and for acceptance.

00:12:47--> 00:12:49

So this is the importance of the sunnah

00:12:49--> 00:12:50

and that is the reason

00:12:51--> 00:12:51

why Allah

00:12:52--> 00:12:53

mentioned this sunnah

00:12:53--> 00:12:54

so clearly

and so emphatically

in the Quran.

Not once but many times so that we

understand that this deen did not come

as a

as something for us to interpret on our

own and to do whatever we feel like

doing with it. This deen came

00:13:12--> 00:13:14

as a complete and total system

00:13:15--> 00:13:16

with a book

00:13:16--> 00:13:19

and with a teacher and all we need

00:13:19--> 00:13:20

to do is to

00:13:20--> 00:13:22

follow the guidance that has been given.

00:13:23--> 00:13:25

It is not left to us to do

00:13:25--> 00:13:27

whatever we feel like doing with it.

00:13:28--> 00:13:30

Even in this dunya, when we look at

00:13:30--> 00:13:31

systems and processes,

00:13:32--> 00:13:34

a complete process, I mean, we do, for

00:13:34--> 00:13:35

example, any,

00:13:35--> 00:13:38

quality process, 6 sigma, whatever. It comes with

00:13:38--> 00:13:40

a total package. I mean, when you are

00:13:40--> 00:13:42

when you are designing it, you design it

00:13:42--> 00:13:44

with a manual. You design it then with

00:13:44--> 00:13:46

a field book. You run experiments. You run

00:13:46--> 00:13:49

a pilot project. You show proof of concept

00:13:49--> 00:13:51

and then you apply this and then there's

00:13:51--> 00:13:53

a whole methodology of how you're going to

00:13:53--> 00:13:56

do that. Same principle applies. The same thing

00:13:56--> 00:13:58

in the Quran. Allah sent this 1400 years

00:13:58--> 00:14:00

ago. He sent a kitab. He sent a

00:14:00--> 00:14:01

teacher with the kitab.

00:14:02--> 00:14:04

He caused the kitab to be preserved.

00:14:05--> 00:14:07

He caused the teachings of the teacher to

00:14:07--> 00:14:09

be preserved so that people, till the end

00:14:09--> 00:14:11

of time, there is no doubt in anybody's

00:14:11--> 00:14:13

mind. What must I do? Look at the

00:14:13--> 00:14:14

life of Muhammad

00:14:16--> 00:14:17

What must I do in my life in

00:14:17--> 00:14:19

this situation, that situation,

00:14:19--> 00:14:22

This, problem, that problem, this difficulty, that difficulty.

00:14:23--> 00:14:24

What must I do when I'm happy? What

00:14:24--> 00:14:26

must I do when I'm sad? What must

00:14:26--> 00:14:28

I do when I receive a gift? What

00:14:28--> 00:14:29

must I do?

00:14:29--> 00:14:30

May Allah protect you

from all such things. If there is a

loss, if there is a bereavement,

any kind of situation,

look in the life of Muhammad

and you will find guidance for it in

that life.

That itself is the biggest miracle of all

time as far as I'm concerned because the

lessons for people

to take

so many centuries thereafter.
