Ibrahim (AS) – Father of the Prophets – Part 1

Bismillah Alhamdulillah wa salatu salam ala Rasulillah Salam Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

tonight in sha Allah, I'm going to take you on a journey on the story of hash the story that involves Prophet Ibrahim alayhis salam. Firstly, it is the fifth pillar of Islam. For anybody who is able to get to hush and do Hajj, they must do Hajj as soon as they reach puberty, and not to delay it if you are able to go. Some people assume that they should wait until they're old, very old, to go to Hajj, because they assume that

when you go to Hajj, then you don't you're supposed to not do any more sins.

That has nothing to do with that brothers and sisters. going to Hajj is a pillar and a fuddled a compulsory act of worship. Like every other worship your five daily solid, you're fasting of Ramadan and Yasaka. So do not delay the Hajj. And this is it is actually a sin to delay the hajj when you are able to go to Hajj. Of course, some people have reasons, practical reasons why they impractical for reasons that make it impractical for them to go to hudge. Such as if they are not financially able, or if they're stuck in work and are not able to take time off. Sometimes they may have especially for sisters, if they're just had a baby, for example, the children are too small, needing

someone to look after him. Many of these reasons and others are accepted reasons for people to delay their Hajj. But one unacceptable reason other than just delaying a house because you want to be old and not do sins

is when people think that if you owe a debt, you're not allowed to go to Hawaii, this is not

this is not correct. If you owe a debt, only in one case, you shouldn't go and that is if you owe someone a debt.

And that debt is due.

And it is which season and you need to use money to get the hudge travel and stuff and so on. And you juggle between should I pay the debt off to the person? Or should I use it to go to college? We say no, you have to prioritize the debt, because paying the people that what you owe them is more important than going to hudge. Secondly, if you owe on a debt that is organized like that,

if you owe a debt that is in installments over 1020 30 years, for example, and you pay monthly or yearly or whatever you pay, that has nothing to do with owing a debt you don't We don't say to you know, pay off the 30 years first and then go to Hajj. So any debt that you already owed to someone or individual or a group, and it's due, and it's between going to HUD you're paying them no you pay them however, you can ask them to form or to give you more time. And if giving you more time will and you know by going to Hajj and paying for the Hajj and coming back you will be able to fulfill paying that debt then do so. But if you know that by them giving you time

and you coming back and you still won't be able to give them because you've spent it on on getting to Hajj, then give the debt first and delay the Hajj. Is this clear? I hope so. Insha Allah, I know there's a lot of questions, we'll leave it to the end in sha Allah Jota Isla any questions about that? But this is a full clean matter. I haven't gotten into the story yet.

I've got to do something. I've got no problem with that brothers and sisters well, but I have something to do after insha Allah so we'll give you time to ask questions here in Shell.

But let's get into the topic. The story of hush is huge. And we need to go back to appreciate why we do what we do in hush and why Allah subhanaw taala has made hush compulsory upon every believer.

The story of hush involves Ibrahim alayhis salam.

And he begins when he was a child.

He was a child which we don't know exactly how age the Quran the Hadith don't tell us but we can work it out that he was a fatter

fat. He's mentioned in the Quran and the fatter in the Arabic language is someone who is a young adult. It could be about 10 years old, 11 years old, 12 years old, maybe even nine years old, or just in the beginning of puberty. But early teens, too late childhood

in that age, a child

or a person who has just reached puberty

has still got a strong sense of of a special word that we have learned. In the Quran it is called fitrah what's it called

fitrah

fitrah fit Ra.

I've just in English fitrah is a natural way that every human being has been created on

every baby, whether born from Muslim or non Muslim parents. God Allah tells us that they are born on the fitrah and Muhammad Sallallahu wasallam. Our Prophet said Kulu the new Allah to Allah Futura. In the Hadith which is in Buhari, every newborn is born on the natural, inclination natural

way.

An example of the fitrah is when a child reaches a particular age and suddenly feels shy and embarrassed to ask their dad or mom to go with them to the toilet.

They feel shy when they're changing their clothes

that can be acquired by education. But if you leave the child alone, the child will naturally feel embarrassed.

That's a part of fitrah fitrah is that if you leave a child alone, they will naturally ask the questions everyone asks, Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? If you mentioned God, your Creator, it makes sense to a child. And if you say there are more than one God's the child questions.

Have you seen that clip? On the internet? I saw at once of a little child who happens to be born from Christian parents and she's reading a book about Jesus Christ saying or something from the Bible, Biblical verses I can't remember them that Jesus Christ went to learn about God. And she asks, so is he asking about learning about himself since he is God? Because you know, the current belief.

The later Christians, they believe that Jesus Christ is God himself and the Son of God at the same time. And they believe in the Father, who was also God, and so on. So the child asks a natural question. Every child asks that

my little child once asked me, Can I get a letter and go up to the sky to hug God? Because I want to feel his love. That is fitrah it's an innocent question. And I said, By praying,

you love God and you connect with God, she said, Is that why we do this? It's like we're hugging him. This is a child to innocence. This innocence is called fitrah. And for this reason, the Prophet peace be upon him said little fear, I'll call him or Ansel if the pen has been lifted off three.

And now in will Hudbay, a staple, a person who is asleep until he or she wakes up, meaning if you passed solid, or Fajr, and you slept in accidentally, you are not accountable, because you weren't conscious, until you wake up, you make up the solid that you owe. Number two, a Nursey

manifesting itself in Ibrahim Ali Salam as a child, why does Allah begin with the fitrah, because as a child because Allah Subhana Allah wants to introduce us to this natural inclination, that when someone tells you or Allah tells you, through the Quran, there is only one God, the Creator of the universe, He made you and there is a purpose for you and you return to Him. The person with a fitrah can make sense of it better than any other faith, any other ideology, or faith that someone calls you to. What is that? That the creator of everything is outside of his creation? If he was in his creation, he would be created and he would rely on his own creation, making him not God anymore. The

Creator cannot be created. We turn to Allah naturally. And every person has that sense of turning to Allah to God.

So in the beginning, we hear

that the first introduction to Prophet Ibrahim alayhis salam at the earliest age is this. Allah says, or is koala.

So at a young age, he said and recall when Abraham said to his father, as

that's his father's name, or his title, as do you take idols for God's, I see you and your people in obvious error.

So this is the innocent words of a child,

a child talks based on what they see, and what they act. And they don't know the ramifications of their words, they just say as it is, that's why we don't get upset with a child.

So he says to his father, as are you and your people look like you are in error, you're doing something wrong dead.

You're taking these statues and these idols

and you are worshipping them.

That's a mistake. That doesn't make sense that you and your people, it seems like as his father used to always talk to his son about his people, and about following the people and about following his culture, and following his ancestors, and following his race, and following what the people tell him. So it looks like his father was more tribal and cultural than following the truth. What did his people worship? Brothers and sisters, they worship the stars. They worshiped the galaxies, they worship planets, and they made idols and statues out of them. You will know by reading the entire story of Prophet Ibrahim alayhis salam in the Quran.

I think Allahu Allah, I'm not sure. It looks like they were probably around the time of the Babylonians.

And from what we read about Babylonians historians do tell us the same belief that they were they believed in zodiac signs. They're the ones who made up zodiac signs. And they're the ones who called the planet Jupiter Jupiter, meaning a God. And they made a statue called different names.

And

some of the names called Murdock Murdock, in their language and some other names female and male gods and big gods and they had different representations. So you know, astrology and zodiac signs born in January it means you're this February means you're that all these superstitious beliefs. They came from the people of Ibrahim Ali his salah, and we see this in the Quran. When Allah speaks about Ibrahim iclm, constantly referring to the stars, the planets, the moon, the sun.

Which makes sense that these people probably were the people of the Babylonians or maybe before later on, they maybe have become a Assyrians, the ancient Assyrians anyway, Ibrahim Ali Salam came to this people that are worshipping idols that represented galaxies and stars.

And naturally, he says, Why do you worship stars? They're they're just stars that just planets, these idols that are statues.

The story goes on.

After Allah subhanho wa Taala guides Ibrahim alayhis salam to the truth.

He guides him to the truth

and makes him question

Who created this world who created the stars who created the sun? Surely the One who created all of this is the one deserving of worship.

And following Allah alone,

we say quote, we call this we call this though head to head means to single out Allah in your belief and worship, apart from any other deities, unifying Allah alone in our worship and our belief, not associating any partners. And Ibrahim Ali Salam is the absolute symbol of hate. And the absolute symbol against shirk, which is making partners with God. Whether it's superstitions, whether it's wearing amulets, whether it's believing in zodiac signs, whether it's believing in a statue or idle or a person, and in this day and age, we have a new type of God that people worship and that is the desire.

Allah says in the Quran, Farah at Delphi that ILA who?

Oh, Muhammad in brackets. Has it ever come to you or occurred to you, or have you ever heard of the one who takes their own desire as their own God?

God which they worship, what does worshiping mean? It means that anything that you prioritize that runs your life before anything God said, before anything the prophets say, if that's what prioritizes you and your life, you take that your worship that anything that takes precedence other than the Quran other than Allah other than his messengers, that becomes your God. And a person follows the desire, the desire becomes their God. And however, however, means like the wind, the desire, if you rely on your desires and feelings that take you like the winds, there is no stability to it. There's no consistency. And that's why you find people and they follow the desire. One minute

they believe this next minute, they believe that they don't know who they are, where they're going, and why they're here. And these are the three main questions. Where did you come from? Why are you here? And where are you going? These are the fitrah questions, the instinctive questions that we all ask. Brothers and sisters, after Allah subhanho wa Taala put into Ibrahim alayhis salam and stabilize the fitrah part of his beliefs.

Allah wanted to make him into a prophet, and also SallAllahu wasallam did tell us Oh,

my God, let her be heard on you forget who didn't whomever Allah wants goodness to come out of them, He will guide him or her to understand and comprehend the deen of Allah, the religion the way of Allah, not just black and white, but to understand the meanings behind the meanings, the meanings behind the words, full of means to comprehend and understand at a deeper level. Some people take the Islam and the Quranic verses and Hadith just on face value. That's okay. But that's not enough to understand your religion and your deen you need to ask more. Otherwise everybody will be a scholar naturally. But obviously we need guidance. Brothers and sisters Allah subhanaw taala wanted to now

give Ibrahim alayhis salam, a stronger knowledge beyond what he sees of his fitrah Allah subhanaw taala now wants to give him a deeper knowledge, a way to understand how to produce his evidence to use empirical evidence to use proof to use reason to use backup and reasoning. So Allah Subhana Allah says in the Quran this

what can Lika nori even out on him and outta Sama, dy dy li Khun Amin animal thenI mean in Surah, Al Anon verse 75. Allah said, Thus did We show Ibrahim that kingdom of the heavens and the earth, that He be one of those who have Faith with certainty?

Faith with what? with certainty,

a Muslim does not just follow things blindly. We follow Faith with certainty. There are over 30 Something different passages in the Quran which talk about certainty, reflection, comprehend, think, question, reason analyze. To do that you need evidence.

So Abraham Ali Salam was shown evidence Allah showed him the planets, the stars, the galaxies, this is what the verse means. Heaven means the skies.

Jana means gardens. So don't mix the two heavens means Skies is just translated like that in English versions of the of the translation of the Quran. Heavens is an old language for skies, space, astronomy, the galaxies, the Milky Way, all of that. And that means the land or the ground that we stand on. Ibrahim Ali Salam was given knowledge from ALLAH through the angel Jibreel of the galaxies and the stars and planets in the sun and the moon, how they rotate and what they do, and in the earth, how the molecules work, how the earth works, everything. And he used that as evidence li akuna minal morclean, so that he may be among those with certainty, meaning when he speaks, when he

looks when he talks, he talks from a grounded certainty. There's a difference between knowing information and understanding the information and in practicing the information, and then knowing how to debate and produce the reasoning and the evidence of the information. Big difference. So Abraham Ali Salam became one of those and you will see he was an amazing debater debates on truth with certainty and with grounded knowledge.

And the first story of intelligence of Ibrahim Ali his Salam is found here, where Allah says that one day, from the context of the verse we understand that Ibrahim alayhis salam one day, probably probably a young teenager, 12 years old, 1314 1516, something like that, because it's in the beginning of his life. When you look at the context of the verses, you'll find that is the beginning of his life. In his youthful age, early, youthful age. He went out one day, and he wanted to teach the people about their beliefs, but through letting them

answer their own questions, but he will just pose what we call rhetorical questions.

And I don't know how much you know about English grammar, they call it double entendre. A double entendre can also mean like a pun, or to say something that can have carry two meanings, and it's up to you to analyze it. So that's part of education here, but Mrs. Salem came out on it to educate the people with certain different statements that he made. They're rhetorical, they're not literal, but they are a double entendre, which means a kind of a pun, sometimes he would come with sometimes would come with rhetorical questions for them to answer so what did he do? he beheld a star, the Arabic word says go kabbah. And cocoppa means an object that is round. So from what we see is a star Abraham, I, Sam could have seen a star or could have been a planet

and said, This is my Lord. But when it went down, he said, I do not love the things that go down.

Some scientists today tell us astrology, astronomers tell us that the first star that appears at sunset is Mars, and sometimes it's Venus. So they are planets. And he saw this planet, which the Babylonians used to worship. He saw the planet and he said to everybody, I see this, this is my God, look. Now it made sense to the people to believe him because he's using their same language. They already worshipped stars. They didn't pay much attention, and he thought maybe they can pay attention. So give them what they already believe in. Hey, everyone, that's my god over there. He doesn't mean it's a pun.

And then when it faded away as the sunset, and the moon came out, he couldn't see the star anymore. So he turned to the people and said, What? My God leaves me one minute he's with me next minute. I don't say him. No, no, no, no, I don't like to worship a God that abandons me. Allah will never abandon me so I can't accept him as a god. Allah says in the Quran fell, I'm gonna

be further.

But when it went down, he said, worried that my Lord did not guide me, I surely would have become among the people who have gone astray. He's hinting to the people that he already believes in the one true God, which he has already told them about. But he's trying to get them to think even on a bigger level. This is a big moon, that you guys are worshipping this moon, and it's fun because they look big, and they look strange, and they look amazing. So you turn them into Gods. It's called the moon god, they worship the moon god. And Ibrahim Ali Salam said, no, no,

no, the moon

is should be my God and I wish that my god the moon guides me. So they knew that he had changed from what he what they thought he believed in that one true god to this moon. And he's telling them well, my moon god will now guide me, but Allah says furlough

he didn't know where he should go, but he never associated Peninsula he always worshiped one God, just like the religion of his forefathers, Ibrahim Ali Salam because the Arabs of Mecca always wish upon God, the Christians always knew about one god the Jews always knew about God. Everybody knows one God, even the sea as of today, ask them how many gods are say one God, even the Hindus, technically they believe in one God, but they're associated partners with him and make so many other gods. So there's one God and that's what makes sense. So Abraham, my son was always like that, but unfortunately, his people did not get the hint. He tried with them in an easy way. He tried with

them in a smart way. But none of them got the hint. They just continued to wish him that's the state of people, my brothers and sisters. You know, people get affected by seeing things they want to touch things they want to see things they want to have an experience of a physical type experience that believe in God Subhan Allah but Allah subhanaw taala tells us everything around you as a sign of Allah's existence.

Without going more on to this, let's continue.

Brothers and sisters when Allah subhanaw taala says goodness in you sincerity courage in you, He uses you for good. And He guides you to the real knowledge and gives you the best of arguments against people who speak false and raises your rank. Have you ever been in a situation where you're talking this panel last month, Allah gives you the strength where these words start coming to you, you start to remember the verses you remember those lectures, you remember what you read, and you think to yourself, in the end, where did Allah Subhan Allah give me that support? If that's happened to you, then hamdulillah know that that's a sign that Allah has given you support on truth and shout

All right, tell me. It's different hearing about the Kaaba and when you go and see it for the first time. Am I right or wrong? Did you cry? Nearly everybody I hear about when they first see the Kaaba they cry. What is it about that place? Even non Muslims have this special

attraction to when they see it live or when they see a an image or a footage of Hajj and the people circumambulating circumambulating around the Kaaba. It's a really magnificent scientists see Do you agree? Something beyond what we can comprehend. I remember in 2004 When I went to hedge, my friend and I was stood up on the top

A roof around the Kaaba. And we just observe just reflecting. How is it that 3 million people or so come from all around the world? Men, women rich? Yeah, rich, poor, young, old high status, low status people from all parts of the world? How did they hear about this place? How did they all know the importance of this place and the love and all come around and they're circumambulating? Like one body in peace in unison, it's

no difference between the man and the woman, between the old and the young, between the rich and the poor. No difference between any color or race. All like one body, La ilaha illa Allah how beautiful it was? Who is it that guided them to this? This is the fitrah of Islam the natural way Islam is also called the natural way. Wallahi was a miracle to us. How is that?

And for more than 4000 5000 years, they've been doing this even in the times before Muhammad Sallallahu Sallam came along. There's even a book written by a non Muslim called All roads lead to Mecca. If you haven't read it,

Allah says in the Quran that the Old Testament also talks about Becca, Becca, Becca, they used to call Makka Pakka. The Holy Land of Allah's pantalla my brothers and sisters, the holy mosque of the Holy House, brothers and sisters, the fitrah. When you see these people together, I want you to remember a child, when you see the people in hush how everybody's circumambulating like one and you think about a child.

If a child is of different color, and sees another child of another color, does a child,

the child base their friendship on the color they see. Now they don't a child naturally goes realizes the difference of color says Ah, you're looking like that you look like that interesting. Okay, let's go play. They play. They just wanna have fun. They're the same, they're innocent. So when you look at housing, the way the people smoking circumambulating like one body, it's the fitrah the fifth row of a child, the innocence.

It's beautiful, subhanAllah Oneness of Allah.

Brothers and sisters.

Ibrahim alayhis salam comes back to his father. And you know the story when he says to his father, oh, my father.

Why do you worship that which cannot eat and cannot drink and cannot hear and cannot see and cannot speak

and cannot benefit you or harm you in any way?

Why do you worship that? Oh, my dear father.

Information has come to me a message of truth has come to me. So listen, you can be guided with it my father, I will guide you to a straighter path. Oh, my father, don't worship the shofar and the shaytaan is an enemy to the human.

And Miss Gaida. He didn't wish at the shaitan literally. But when you worship and follow a guidance that is false, that's what the shaitan wants. Satan wants you to follow false. If you follow false you are worshipping the shaitan. Then he says oh my father, I fear upon you that a fire may touch you. And you will become an ally to the shaitan his father turns around and starts to yell at him and threaten him. And he said to him, Are you too good for my gods? Abraham, if you do not stop talking about the stuff that you're talking about. I will stone you, I will beat you. I will hurt you. Unless you leave me and get away from my face.

Meaning that he told him get out of my house, I disown you if you continue this way or I'm going to stone you

so primarily Salem lives a life of an of an abuse actually family abuse.

We call that we call it today like a dysfunctional family. He was abused by his family, domestic abuse

and threatened violence. So people who go through that can find solace in the story of Ibrahim Ali salah.

And yet Allah subhanaw taala brought out a leader an amazing strong person out of him. He did not let his father's abuse and his threat get to him to the point where he says I'm a nobody. You know what Ibrahim Ali Salam said. Carla, listen, listen to whatever Mr. Sam's response to his father was in the most humble, respectful and assured way. Call us still Furuta Kirby

I will ask Allah to forgive you, my dad.

He is always close to me.

I will ask Allah to forgive you, my father. He felt pity for his father.

He didn't look at his father and say I'm a nobody. Look how he treats me It says that, I feel sorry for you. I ask Allah to guide you that some people in their families, they look at how they treat them, and it is quite harsh. Nobody can harm you more than when your family harms you.

But for a Muslim, you can look at them as the oppressors and you're the victim. Or you can get stronger insha Allah in time and reverse it and say, I'm gonna make diet for them. May Allah guide them and your future will change in sha Allah you can turn it around

Allah subhanaw taala did not leave Ibrahim alayhis salam out, and He will never leave you my brothers and sisters. Never.

When he left.

He

went to the worshiping place where they all kept their idols to get some shelter because he was homeless, he was walking the streets, no family to protect him.

And he still didn't give up. He wanted to teach his people a lesson. So in the Quran, Allah Subhana Allah says that Abraham has said, I've looked up at the stars once, one quick look.

And then he said, in nice Akeem, I am sick.

As soon as he said that they ran away from him.

This is another strategy from Ibrahim Ali Salam is what we call a pun.

And you're allowed to use pawns for education. He said, I am sick what he means I'm sick of your ways. I'm sick of the way that you treat me. I'm sick of the way that you are, you know, doing this to me. But all he did was he looked up at the stars once. It means they thought that this was a bad omen, a bad sign. Because in those days, if they looked up at the stars, and then they say I'm sick, it means that the stars have something in for you. It's a type of karma that they believed in.

That the universe gets you back for something that you've done. So Allah says they ran away from him. They ran away from him because they looked at him as a bad omen the universe is getting him back. They don't want to take part in this. Do you understand?
