Bismillah R Rahman r Rahim Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil Alameen wa salat wa salam. Let's say you do more saline Sayidina Muhammad wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam to Sleeman Kathira Salam alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh This is Imam Zaid Shakir and I'm here in the office of Imam Suhaib salt pond at Princeton University to bring you a very very important message. And that message is brothers and sisters Ramadan is approaching. And now is the time for us to really as a community began to cultivating a healthy sense of environmental and ecological consciousness. Why do we mention Ramadan? During Ramadan as all of you have witnessed our community generates and then
disposes of tons of trash, the disposable and Styrofoam and paper cups and plates and knives and plastic knives and spoons and forks from all of our Iftar and the reams and reams of paper towels that we collect and bag up and fill up the dumpsters outside of our Masjid. With night after night and Ramadan. Brothers and sisters, imagine how many tons of trash, we could save how much we can do with that one simple app, the greening of the Iftar to help
the environment and to help our community to be involved in a project that benefits all of the citizens of this country in this world. Brothers and sisters, I'm encouraging you to Green Your Iftar. This summer there are a lot of wonderful initiatives all over the country, the green faith initiative and similar initiatives that are pushing for this project. My Masjid in Oakland, California two years ago, we adopted the green of talk. And now instead of garbage bags of garbage scraps or composted
dishes are washed at one of the local Muslim restaurants returned the next day to be reused. No paper towels allow all washable hand cloths. Brothers and sisters, if we can do it with very limited resources, you can do it. Let's green RF tars. Let's green our community let's help to green our country. And if America greens itself we can green the world in sha Allah Tala because as you all know, we're the greatest producer of greenhouse gases China's coming up, maybe they surpassed us but in terms of grand garbage, trash, rubbish, landfills, America has no rival. Let's make a difference. Brothers and sisters, this is something beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala and this is something
beloved to our Prophet sallallahu Sallam who encouraged us not to be wasteful people and encouraged us to live in harmony with everything around us and nothing could exemplify that message. More than his statement in the Quran, Allah azza wa jal concerning our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam one, or sell NACA Allah, Rama tenmile Alamy we've sent you as a mercy to all the worlds and that includes the world of the animals, the world of the plants, the world of the insects, the fish, all of these are Whalum all of these worlds our Prophet sallallahu wasallam is a mercy to and these are exemplars of cannula comfier Rasulullah, he was worked on Hasina, you have a most excellent example,
in the Messenger of Allah, then we shouldn't be about the business of being a mercy to all those we share this environment with. So again, this is a man with a shack here. We thank you for listening and viewing this brief message and in sha Allah Tyler, we can come together as a community and make a huge difference. And these are the kinds of initiatives that will take people's attention away from all of the negativity being said about Muslims because there'll be too focused on the good things being done by Muslims. Assalamu alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
