Shepherd of sheep #01

Interestingly, most of them barely masala most of the prophets of Allah subhanaw taala were shepherds of sheep, sheep,

not camels, not horses.

They were shepherds of sheep, including Rasul Allah is Allah Himself.

Now easily Salam used the simile of the shepherd, when he spoke of the shepherds of men.

There is much to be learned in shepherd in sheep, and it's something that you might want to think about and say, Why sheep and Why did Allah subhanaw taala

cause this to be part of the raising and, and training of His messengers,

Musa al salaam, you know the story from the Quran itself, who are the shepherd of sheep for 10 years?

Now, of course, Allah knows his reasons, and I'm not

interpreting or

speaking on behalf of Allah subhanaw taala.

So in my view, there are seven very important lessons that we learn from the shepherd shepherding of sheep, I really think that they should be part of the curriculum of

world class schools of

leadership because this this, if Allah decreed this geladeira, who for is messengers and prophets, what more can we ask with regard to the benefits of shepherding of sheep?

So let me list these and then we'll talk about them individually over the next couple of days. First and foremost is responsibility and accountability.

Second one patients mercy and compassion.

Number three is courage. Number four, concern

for others.

Number five, Vision number six, simplicity. And number seven, closeness to nature. Let me go over that list quickly again, responsibility and accountability is the first one. Number two patience and mercy number three, Courage number four concern and compassion concern for others and compassion. Number five, Vision number six, simplicity and number seven, closeness to nature.

We let's look at each of these. The first one is responsibility and accountability.

So responsibility and accountability, the shepherd must report to a higher authority.

The Shepherd is responsible and cannot blame the sheep for getting lost or hurt.

He can't say well, what can I do? My sheep are stupid. No matter if the sheep are stupid or clever. The Shepherd is responsible.

Number two, patience and mercy. Sheep have some qualities that other animals do not have.

Sheep take their time. They are slow, they run around, they get easily distracted. They are weak and need more protection than other animals. They are more susceptible to threats than camels or horses or cattle.

They have no concept of unity, they do not come together to protect their young or the flock. They cannot be punished too harshly because they don't have the strength to withstand severe punishment. So the Shepherd has to be patient and merciful and compassionate with sheep, otherwise they die. Camels are arrogant and so you must meet the arrogance with strength. And so the shepherds of camels tend to be tough and rude because that is how they keep camels in control. This is how the profession affects the individual. Doctors can't write properly. They scribble teachers become very scholarly and pedantic. mechanics have a different personality from farmers who deal with plants and

the earth. Engineers, politicians lawyers, but

Lisbon all have different personalities, the profession is very important to consider.

Because the profession will affect you and will affect your behavior and will affect your personality. The shepherd must be patient and bear with their people, no matter what they do. Musa alayhis salam was a shepherd for 10 years. And so he had a lot of training to lead his people. The money is right. And so were many other prophets, including Muhammad Rasulullah, he's Allah Holly, while he was I was on the

third, quality is courage. The shepherd protects the flock. And so the shepherd needs to be courageous. The shepherd needs to be alert.

The shepherd can't just lay down and sleep because he's died. Because when he gets up, his flock will be scattered all over the countryside. There are many threats, all of which the shepherd must be aware of, and know what to do about them.

The shepherd must have enough knowledge to become aware of the threat before it becomes a threat. He must know alarm calls of animals and birds, which alert him to the presence of predators, he must understand that his flock will attract predators like a magnet,

he must know that.

Therefore, he needs to be prepared to face the predators and to drive the predators away. Before they become a live threat.

A shepherd must be prepared to put himself in danger to save his flock, because she can't defend themselves later on defending the shepherd.

On the other hand, are shepherds of buffaloes, for example, or cattle especially buffaloes, the buffaloes take care of the shepherd. There are many cases in India where little shepherd boys who are shepherd the buffaloes,

the buffaloes band together, and drive away even a tiger, which is potential, which is a potential threat for the shepherd boy. But sheep, no question of that happening with sheep.

Since not all threats are the same, the shepherd must anticipate threats and be prepared for them. He must be creative, to think of solutions for new emerging threats before they become sources of grief. A flock of sheep is notoriously difficult to give and in control as sheep tend to stray. So the shepherd must be alert all the time and must know his sheep intimately. So that he will know when one is missing.

It's quite amazing for

those who

who are not familiar with herding sheep, about how a shepherd literally recognizes sheep. And for him,

All sheep are not the same.

So he knows them. He knows they're

the personal characters, he can recognize them and separate them from the flock.

I've seen many times shepherds carrying

young sheep

on their lambs, or even you know, sort of have grown sheep with a week carrying that sheep on his shoulders. And he was very happy with it. I was sitting on the shoulders he's not, you know, not bothered. The shepherds carry the sheep on his shoulders because the sheep is too weak and got got gets tired and can't walk.

Shepherds I've seen in the night when they camp, they will have, you know, maybe one maybe two lambs literally under the blanket next to them while they sleep.

The even were in. In India, of course, we don't have an I don't know why not. But we don't have sheep dogs. So the shepherd is on his own. But in some countries, they have sheepdogs. But even there, the responsibility for the sheep is very clearly that of the shepherd, it's you will the shepherd can't dump it on the dog. The shepherd can't, you know, dump it on anybody else. He can't give the sheep

and they said, This is very different from shepherding off other animals, camels, horses,

and so forth.

In the case of horses, there is a

herd leader by himself. And all that the shepherd needs to do is keep track of the leader and the leader takes care of the rest of the herd of horses.

So also with buffalo, they take care of themselves, they also take care of the shepherd

But with respect to

sheep, nowhere sheep has to be taken care of. And the shepherd is one who's responsible for doing that. So as we said, Here, we're looking at three of the qualities of shepherds, responsibility and accountability, patience and mercy and courage.

Because at the end of the day, the success or failure of the shepherd is not based on how hard he worked and what he did, but on the welfare of his sheep. And the shepherd is responsible to a higher authority, who is the owner of the ships

and he gets paid or he gets fined or punished, based on what happens to the ship.

And that is why this was one of the or the

common feature that was in the lives of many of the prophets of Allah subhanaw taala, who started off as shepherds of sheep was Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah Karim, Allah, Allah He was I remember how to get ahold of him.
