The Islamic Identity is one that many Muslims today have difficulty in maintaining. So what is the true essence of the Islamic Identity and how can we maintain it in these trying times we live in?
Part 2 of lecture delivered at Abu Huraira Center in Toronto.

Before Salah,
we were talking about
the Islamic identity
and the reality that Muslims face living in this society today
how many of our youth are losing their Islamic identities?
And so we talked about the causes of that we talked about some of the ill effects of that. And now we're going to continue on to discuss
perhaps the most important part of the discussion, and that is, how to maintain our Islamic identities.
In the society we live in, there are many challenges that face the youth.
Why is it that they're losing their Islamic identities?
How can we help our children and make sure that our coming generations
hold on to that Islamic identity and don't lose it?
Like
the Muslims in the past? Who melted away and assimilated into non Muslim societies, eventually, their coming generations
became absorbed in those societies. And today, you can't even tell
who amongst them is a Muslim and who's not.
The first and most important point regarding how to maintain our Islamic identities
is by ingraining within our children,
the Islamic aqeedah
the correct Islamic al Qaeda.
And so Allah subhanho wa Taala in the Quran mentioned to us the story of us publica,
those young men, those youth who lived in a society that was predominantly non Muslim,
but they held on to their Deen and their belief in Allah subhanho wa Tada.
And they went fleeing their people. They went to the cave.
And so a loss of Hannah who attack tells us about them in the home, and we'll be

The reason why we find many
of our children, saying that it doesn't matter whether you're Muslim, or Christian, or Buddhist or whatever, is because they don't understand these contexts. They've lost that Islamic identity. And so they're open to accepting any religion.
Allah subhanho data tells us what may Yeah, but tell you why you're an Islamic demon filling you Well, I mean, whoever accepts or desires a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him.
And so this is the reality that we need to teach our children. Not that you know, we live in a different time and age where we need to live in peaceful coexistence with everyone else. And so it doesn't matter whether you're a Muslim or whether you're a Catholic. This is what our enemies want, for there to remain.
No difference along the lines of Deen along the lines of religion.
The second way of helping us to maintain our Islamic identities and to help our children to maintain their Islamic identity.
is by understanding the reality of the ongoing battle that has been ongoing since the beginning of time. And that is the battle
that has been waged by shaytaan by police against against Adam and his children.
And so it was not enough for a police to deceive Adam
and make him leave Jenna
to set up enmity between himself and Adam. But he promised that he would carry it on among his children, among the children of Adam, until the day of judgment. This was a promise of a police that he promised Allah subhanahu wa tada that he will cause them to go astray. He will lead them astray, except those sincere slaves of Allah subhanho wa Taala, whom he would have no power over.
This battle is ongoing, not only between a blease and Adam
and the children of Adam, but a blease has children. He has troops he has armies, from both jinn and mankind.
And so, the enemies of Islam today.
They want us to lose touch with our Deen.
They want us to leave our Deen. They want us to melt into their societies. They want that we leave our Deen and accept their ideologies and accept their religions.
And Allah subhanho wa Taala has told us this 1400 years ago
in more than one place in the Quran.

They will continue to fight you until they are able to make you leave your dean if they are able to.

This is the reality of the Jews and the Christians that Allah has told us 1400 years ago, what did he tell us? He told us that they wish

They're jealous, they're envious, that we are upon the truth.
That we were sent with the final message and the final prophet

This wasn't based on ignorance. It was after a while says after the truth had reached them, after they saw the plain and clear truth. And so this is the reality of the enmity of the Jews and the Christians and all of the kuffar. Once we understand this, this will help us to maintain our Islamic identities in the societies that we live in,
among the ways and the means that will help us to maintain our Islamic identities in the societies that we live in.
In the times that we live in today
is by
working
on giving our children the proper Islamic Tobia from where
it starts from home.
And I mentioned this earlier, that the whole reason why many of our children
have lost their Islamic identities, or that their identities have become weak.
It is because of the negligence of the parents. They allow them
to live as they want,
not giving them the proper Islamic education.
And so trust me, based on experience, I will tell you
that if you strive your best to give your children the proper Islamic education and tarbiyah from home,
even if they may end up going astray in their lives, especially in their youthful years, when there's a lot of pressure from the environment they live in, from the temptations of shape on from their peers, and so on and so forth. As long as you have done your job, trust me, even if they go astray, eventually they'll come back.
Even if there will be a period where they will go astray. Eventually, they will come back. Why because you gave them a solid foundation for them to come back. But the problem is, and this is a sad reality, the unfortunate reality that we live in today, that our parents,
they have neglected their children, not giving them the time, not putting in the effort
to give them the proper Islamic phobia.
And so when their children become older, they complain
that my daughter,
she doesn't wear hijab. I tell her to wear hijab, she doesn't wear it.
She's going out with boys.
She's gone astray.
My son is out. They're
involved in drugs involved in this and that.
We come in we complain afterwards when it's too late.
And so if it begins anywhere, then it begins at home.

This responsibility that Allah Subhana who attalla gave to us
We will be questioned about it on the Day of Judgment.
Among the ways and means that we can help ourselves
to maintain our Islamic identities
is
by building, Islamic institution,
Islamic school.
And I cannot stress that enough.
The reason why many Muslim youth
become absorbed in the society we live in.
The reason why they assimilate into the society is because they want to fit in. And so they go to school, they don't want to stand out.
And so they want to fit in. And so they take non Muslims as friends.
They become accustomed
to customs of the kuffar.
they imitate the ways of the far,
if they were in Muslim schools, we would at least be solving half of the problem.
And so there is no doubt that those who graduate from Muslim schools, as I said, even if they go astray later on in their lives, eventually they will come back. But those who go to non Muslim schools, at the same time, they're not receiving a proper Islamic turbie at home, what will they come back to, even if they want to come back to something, they won't have anything to come back to, they have no foundation. And so they will become lost out there in the dunya.
Among the ways and means that we can help ourselves to maintain our Islamic identities
in the society that we live in today
is
by inculcating a sense of aiza.
In the hearts of our children,
by teaching our children of our glorious past by teaching them about the stories of the prophets, the stories of the Sahaba, what they went through the difficulties that they went through their steadfastness, their firmness, upon the deen, in the face of persecution, in the face
of Phaeton
in the face of challenges, challenges to assimilate into the society they're living in. And so if we were to study the early Muslims, the Sahaba, in Mecca, in the early years, when they were a few, it was not easy
to claim to be a Muslim. Rather, the easiest thing was to be like everyone else. And so if we were to read the stories of the Sahaba, take the example of Abu Dhabi overhang. And how he was told, when he became a Muslim and the Muslims were few in number he was told,
don't make your Islam public. Don't go and tell the people that you become a Muslim.
Because you'll be persecuted. You'll be persecuted, you'll be tortured. But he didn't care. Why? Because he had a sense of his.
He felt proud of his Deen. He felt proud of his Islamic identity. And so he went to the cabinet and announced to the co founder of kurush La ilaha illAllah. He announced his Islam, and so they came to him, they beat him until he became full of blood.
Take the example of Omar of Hamza.
When they became Muslims, they gave ERISA to the Muslims. And so when or more of the Allahu Allah He became Muslim.
He divided the Muslims into two, him leading one group, and Hamza leading the other, and they marched into Mecca.
And they announced their Islam would full of honor with the full of dignity, with full of pride, and glory. If we were to teach these to our children, there's no doubt that this will help in maintaining their Islamic identities.
And in this way, if we were to teach them about the stories of those who came after
the Sahaba
through Islamic history, we have many examples of the glorious heroes of Islam
and how they brought glory and his an honor to this honor. Leading all civilizations and putting everyone else behind.
Then
finally, I conclude with a final piece of advice
with regards to maintaining our Islamic identities,
and that is
that we have to understand, and we have to make our children
to understand
the very essence of their creation.
the very reason why we were created

That is the purpose of our creation. The reason why many of us live heedless lives, negligent

The dunya has deceived us.
And so we have preferred the dunya over the Euro, the reason why many of our youth living in this society, the reason why many of them lose their Islamic identity
or the reason why their Islamic identities become weak.
The reason why they don't feel a sense of pride, a sense of dignity and Isaiah, the reason why they want to fit in
is because of this reason that they have preferred
the dunia over that.
And so, if we were to teach them
about the reality of the dunya
about the purpose of their creation,
about
the temporary nature of this dunya
about the permanent nature of the akhira Trust me, I guarantee you that this will be among the greatest means that will help them to maintain their Islamic identities for whenever they are faced with a situation where they will have to compromise or they will have to feel embarrassed and ashamed of their Deen or they will feel like wanting to fit in.
If they were to understand the temporary nature of the dunya
all of that will go away.
All of that will go away trust me, if they were to remember that
they will understand
that this temporary enjoyment of a few minutes of a few moments of a few hours
of a few days in this dunya it's not worth it.
compromising my Deen is not worth it. And so Allah subhanho wa Taala tells us about this temporary nature that we have become the temporary nature of the dunya that we have become so attached to. Why does the law give us this description of the believers Allah does not say and the believers will be
superior to these kuffaar on the Day of Judgment. No, he doesn't say believers. A law says, Well Edina taco and those of taqwa

Because when we're faced with such situations, if we have Taqwa of Allah subhanho wa Taala
will be able to remain firm and steadfast. And so Allah tells us that those who fear Him, they will be above these, Cofer, who used to market them, and laugh at them in dystonia.

And then Allah ends the verses, by telling us of the end result, what will be the end result?

to try to fit in into the society
to look like everyone else.
So that you don't stand out.
You'll be tested with regards to your Islamic identity.

and chases after the dunya
and is satisfied
with this temporary enjoyment.

he gives up the temporary enjoyment of the dounia.
He doesn't compromise his Deen he doesn't give up his Islamic identity in the face of pressure in the face of tests and challenges.
He doesn't give up. Why because he desires the accurate
then there is no doubt that he will be
he will be faced with hardship in this dunya
he will be faced with hardship in this area.
And this is as a prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that the dunya is the prison of the believer
and the gender of the cafe.
This is what the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told us and this is the reality, the reality of the nature of this temporary life and the reality of the nature of the permanent life. In the euro. We ask Allah subhana wa tada to make us firm upon his Deen until the day we meet him. We ask Allah subhanho wa Taala to make us firm
and to maintain to help us to maintain our Islamic identities and to help us to maintain the Islamic identity
of our children and their children. In these testing and trying times that we live in, we ask Allah subhanho wa Taala
to guide those brothers and sisters, our children, the youth
