Heart Therapy: Episode 6 – Symptoms of a Sick Heart

Welcome to another episode of our program, heart therapy.

In the last episode, we looked at one of the features one of the distinguishing features of the sound heart. And that is that when it is in a certain fearful situation,

a situation a very tough situation that requires some kind of help to settle that heart down.

Allah subhanho wa Taala sends his tranquility upon that heart. And so in the last episode, we spoke about the tranquility of the heart, the Sakina that Allah subhanho wa Taala sends down upon the hearts of his obedient slaves from among the prophets from among the messengers, and the righteous who follow in their footsteps.

In this episode, we want to turn our attention to the sick heart.

And so as we previously mentioned, the hearts are divided into three categories, you have the sound heart, the healthy heart, and then you have the dead heart. And then you have the sick heart or the diseased heart.

And so, in this episode, we want to look at some of the signs or some of the symptoms that point to a diseased heart. And the reason for that is, because,

if our hearts are diseased, then we need to know about his disease, and we need to find out how we can cure that disease. Otherwise, living with a diseased heart,

it will not only bring us misery in this life, but more importantly, it will bring us misery in the next life.

And so, Allah subhanho wa Taala created every part of our body

to function in a certain way,

he created every part of the body

for a specific action related to it.

And he made the ultimate perfection of that action of that body part to to basically be the ability to perform that action without any problem without any disability whatsoever.

However, when that part of the body becomes defective,

what happens is that it feels to perform that action that it was created for by a loss of Hannah Houma data

or at least if it is able to perform it. It does so with some difficulty, some hindrance that proves that this body part is disabled, or it is weak.

And so, the defection of your hand, this hand that Allah subhanho wa Taala created

its function is to hold on to things

to move things to use the hand to do certain things.

And so it's defection is when you're not able to use it to grab and hold on to things.

Your eye, Allah subhanahu wa tada created your eye

in order to see

and so the defection of your eye

causes your eye to become impaired and your sight too.

Become impaired. And so, you will not be able to see properly if your eye is defected.

Likewise your ear, Allah subhanho, wa Taala,

he created it, to hear things. And so the defection of your ear is when it becomes deaf, or when your hearing becomes impaired, and you have weakness in your hearing.

Likewise, your tongue, Allah subhanho wa Taala created it in order to speak.

And so if it becomes defected,

then that function of speaking, is no longer there.

And so,

these are just some of the organs of our body.

And

as for the body,

the entire body, when it becomes defective,

when it becomes impaired, then the body will no longer function. And the various parts of the body will no longer function, such as those who suffer

from various sicknesses that are related to their brains. And so their nervous system becomes disabled. And so their brains do not send messages to various parts of their body.

And so their body is not able to function properly.

As for the heart, as for the heart, then

the heart was also created for a specific function. And so if that function fails to work properly, then the heart will no longer do what it was created for. And in the previous episodes, we mentioned, how the heart was created by Allah subhanho wa Taala. And Allah commanded it, to use it, to think to ponder,

to make wise choices, to reflect upon things

to distinguish between right and wrong.

And so this is the function of the heart. And so if a person

does not use it in that function, then it becomes impaired. And so the defection and the sickness of the heart is for it to feel in what Allah created it for what did a law created for a law created for recognizing him subhanho wa Taala

for loving him subhanho wa Taala for having a yearning desire to meet him subhana wa Tada.

It was created for turning to him in repentance, at all times, it was created for preferring

that which Allah is pleased with, over that which our inner desires, love. This in general is what Allah Subhana who Allah made the heart for, and he made it to function in that way.

And so if

a servant of Allah recognized everything in the world, if he had knowledge of everything, if he was the most knowledgeable person on the face of this earth, in terms of scientific knowledge,

but he does not recognize his creator and he does not know Allah subhanahu wa Tada.

He does not know him through his names and his attributes,

then it is as if he knows nothing.

And worse than that are those

who deny the existence of Allah subhanahu wa Tada. And they are many today who claim to have scientific knowledge and claim that they are the most knowledgeable people on the face of this earth today, and yet they deny that Allah exists. And even worse, are those extreme atheists today who say that even if Allah existed, I wouldn't believe in him.

And so, the point is, that

Allah subhanho wa Taala created the heart to recognize him. And so if the heart does not recognize a lot, does not know a lot. Then even if the person claimed to have

Have all the knowledge in the world, it's as if he knows nothing.

And even if a person was to achieve every single pleasure on the face of this earth,

even if he was to fulfill his outward physical

pleasures, his lustful desires, but he feels to find the love of Allah in his heart, he fails to find that yearning desire to meet a lot.

Then it is as if he missed out on every true pleasure in this world.

And that is because true pleasure is the pleasure of the heart that loves Allah subhanho wa Taala, and loves only Allah subhanho wa Taala, preferring His love, over the love of everything else, those who taste that pleasure, those who taste that particular pleasure.

They realize what true pleasure means.

Rather, what we can say is that if the heart was empty of all of that,

all of those pleasures that that person fulfilled, would turn back on him as punishment.

Thus, he would be punished by the very thing that he took pleasure in. And so those who enjoy their lives, fulfilling their outward pleasures, in that which Allah has forbidden,

and not caring

about the consequences of their actions, enjoying themselves as they please, then those same pleasures that they are involved in, they're going to turn back on them as a punishment. And that is, the punishment, the eternal punishment of the euro.

And so the heart that recognizes Allah subhanho wa Taala, that loves him, and makes its worship solely for a loss of Hannah who would die and never prefers any other love

over what he is pleased with. That is the sound heart. And that is the heart that is free of all sicknesses. And so when any heart gives preference, to loving something, over

the love for Allah subhanho wa Taala, then it means that the heart is sick. Just like the stomach, just like the stomach, it becomes accustomed to eating what is harmful and prefers it over healthy food, the pleasure of food, what happens, the pleasure of healthy food, it becomes bitter for him.

And so this is the reality of the pleasure of the heart as compared to those who think that true pleasure is fulfilling their outward desires. We'll take a quick break and we will return

Assalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh welcome back to this episode of heart therapy. Before the break we were talking about the sound heart and the sick heart.

And we mentioned that

when any heart gives preference,

to loving something over the love for Allah subhana wa Tada. They prefer their love of something in the dunya over the love of Allah subhanho wa Taala then that is a sign that the heart is sick

and it is similar to the stomach, the stomach when it becomes accustomed to eating harmful food.

What happens is that it prefers harmful food over healthy food. And then what happens is that the pleasure of healthy food, it goes away and so if you

Bring them healthy food. They don't like it, it doesn't taste pleasurable to them. Similarly,

the sick heart, it takes pleasure fulfilling its outward desires. And it finds no pleasure in

the remembrance of Allah Subhana, who attended the recognition of Allah subhanho wa Taala, and the love for Allah subhanho wa Taala. And so this is one of the greatest signs that the heart is sick.

Moreover, the heart of a person could fall ill, and its illness could intensify.

But the person without the person,

he perhaps would not even realize that his heart is ill and sick. Why? Because he's too busy with other things, and has no time to pay attention to the fact that his heart is ill and diseased.

Rather, the heart could even die, the heart could even die, and the person, he will not even realize that it is dead. And so there are so many people out there who have that dead heart,

and they don't even realize it.

And so, this is one of the greatest signs that the heart is diseased. Now,

there are many signs and symptoms that prove that the heart is sick and ill, but we'll mention

only five of the symptoms.

Firstly,

the person who has a sick heart, he finds it difficult to live by the very purpose of his creation, which is to know Allah to love Him, to have a burning desire to meet him, and to turn to Him in repentance, and to prefer doing all of this over any other desire. So whoever gives precedence

to his or her whims, and desires over the love of and the obedience to Allah subhana wa Tada. Then it means that his or her heart is diseased. And this is as Allah subhanho wa Taala says, of

many other Allahu Hawa, who, what Allah who law who Allah will hurt and similarly he will be with Allah, Allah sorry, he Sha, Allah subhanho wa Taala says, Have you seen the one who takes His deity, his God as his own desires, and a lot has sent him a stray out of knowledge, he had knowledge but Allah sent him a stray and set a seal on his heart and upon his hearing.

And so, this is the first symptom of a diseased heart. The second symptom of a diseased heart is that the person is not disturbed by the disobedience of Allah subhanho wa Taala.

And so, a dead person, he does not feel the pain of any wound. If a body is dead, you can stab it 100 times you can cut off its organs, and it will not feel anything Why because it is dead. Similarly, a dead heart, a dead heart does not feel the pain of committing sin. It does not feel the pain of disobeying the commandments of Allah subhanho wa Taala. On the other hand, a sound and healthy heart, it feels great pain, when a sin is committed.

And it quickly repent to Allah subhanho wa Taala from that and so Allah subhanho wa Taala tells us of these people, when he said when Latina, either alpha alpha he schatten oh vollum and fusa whom that Carol la have a Stouffer who festival farolito

Allah subhanho wa Taala says, and those who, when they commit an immorality

or they wronged themselves by transgression, what do they do? They quickly remember Allah and then quickly turn to Him seeking His forgiveness, and a loss of Hannah who Allah says in alladhina taco Eden so Who taught you from ministry Bani Kuru

Allah says, indeed those who fear a lot. This is one of the descriptions of those who have Taqwa of Allah.

says those who fear Allah. When an impulse from shaitan touches them.

What do they do? They quickly remember him so Hannah who would data and then suddenly they have insight meaning that when shaitan touches them with a whispering to do evil,

and perhaps they may be inclined to do that evil act.

What happens? They wake up from the heedlessness. And due to their taqwa, they remember Allah, and then all of a sudden they see the reality. This is the description that lost some how to what Allah has given us. Now, if you notice in both of these verses, what does Allah say that they quickly remember a lot. The meaning of remembering a lot in both of these verses, refers to bearing in mind, the greatness of Allah, they all of a sudden remember the greatness of Allah. They remember the threat that Allah has mentioned for those who disobeyed His commands, until they remember the punishments of Allah Subhana, who was added, and so immediately, they seek the forgiveness of Allah

subhanho wa Taala. Only on the other hand, the heart that is diseased, the heart that is ill and sick, it will keep on committing evil sins, one sin after the other, and it will not feel any difference. And that is, as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned to us, that the Phaeton the trials, Allah sends upon the hearts and the evil heart, it keeps absorbing these trials. And each time it absorbs these trials and takes them on a black.is placed on that heart until it becomes completely darkened. And so once it is completely darkened and becomes black,

no matter what admonition it receives, it will not change. And so this is one of the signs and symptoms of a disease heart.

Among the symptoms of a disease, heart is not feeling any pain, not feeling any pain, of being unaware of the truth. Whereas someone with an upright mind, and a sound heart, he will not tolerate living in confusion, and ignorance, having false beliefs. And so, those who Allah subhanho wa Taala granted pure and sound hearts, they always look for the truth. And they don't feel satisfied, living in ignorance and having false beliefs. And so, ignorance is a serious calamity. That pains anyone with a sound art

among the symptoms of a disease heart is that the person deviates from what is useful.

And instead, he takes on what is harmful. And so many people for example,

they refrain from listening to the Quran.

And we all know that the Quran Allah subhanho wa Taala sent it to us for our own benefit. And so Allah subhanahu wa taala tells us

of the two camps,

those who take that benefit from the Quran and those who turn their backs on the Quran, and they refrain from benefiting from it. Allah subhanho wa Taala says,

one owner z luminol core and Emma who she thought was meaning Allah says, and we sent down of the Quran, that which is a healing a cure, and a mercy for who for the believers. And then Allah says Allah azido Vali Mina Ilaha Sandra. And the same Quran that was sent as a cure and mercy for the believers. It was also sent to increase the volume the wrongdoers in loss.

And so, it is referring to those who turn away from listening to the ad. And so this refers to those who prefer to listen to other things, such as listening to songs that instill hypocrisy and this belief in the hearts that only fulfill their base desires. And so, such people they sin and they prefer, they prefer

What Allah Subhana, WA tada and what His Prophet came with, they prefer their base desires over all of that.

Among the symptoms of a disease heart is that a person he settles into the life of this world, being satisfied with it,

and being at peace with it, feeling, no sense of alienation, such that he or she no longer looks forward to the hereafter. On the other hand, when, when a heart becomes sound, it has a burning desire for what Allah has prepared for it, in the hereafter of reward. And so the state of a person with such a heart in this life, it brings to mind the study, in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Be in this life as if you are a stranger, or as a traveler. And so these are some of the symptoms of a diseased heart. Finally,

I'd like to mention one final point here, and that is that some people, they may recognize the sickness of their heart.

And they may even try to cure that sickness. But the medicine

is too bitter for them.

And so

they lose patience, and they give up trying to cure their disease heart. Thus, they prefer to have that sick heart and live with it over the difficulty of taking the medicine

and what was the medicine, the medicine was to oppose the whims and desires, which is the most difficult thing for the soul to do? But it is the most beneficial thing to it. As Allah subhanho wa Taala told us what a madman cough and Nakamura be he won a hand enough to handle however, as for him who fears standing before his Lord, and opposes following his whims and desires for England janetta he and Matt were, indeed paradise will be his abode. I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala to grant us all pure sound hearts and help us to recognize the diseases in our hearts and to help us to cure those diseases hearts.
