Ramadan 2019 #07 – Reflections Surah Yusuf

Alhamdulillah wa salatu salam ala rasulillah. He has a hobby h Ma, he will begin by creating illustra hana with Allah asking Allah to send his peace and blessings upon the final prophet Mohammed even Abdullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and all those who follow his way with righteousness until the end of time. So today inshallah I just want to reflect a bit on surah Yusuf and why it was revealed, and some lessons that we can take from this. So should our use of you know, many of us are familiar with the story. It's one of the only times in the Quran in which Allah subhanho wa Taala tells an entire story from beginning to end in one surah. And it's a story which

has a lot of lessons of any story full of hope. It's one that inspires us a lot. But some of us might not be familiar with the background of the surah why it was revealed. So So our use of was revealed in the year of sorrow in the year in which the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam faced the most difficulties. Perhaps in his entire life, it was the most difficulty of his life, his uncle obatala had passed away his wife for deja Raja and had passed away, or the event of toys had taken place. It was a very difficult time. And if we had to take a look at that point in time, not knowing what happens afterward, it looked in a situation look very bleak. So Allah subhanho wa

Taala, revealed the story in its entirety, to show the Prophet Muhammad slowly, some hope, optimism to show him that they were prophets before Him, who went through similar Lee difficult tragedies, one after another. And it led to them coming out on top. And so it was a prediction that something similar was going to happen to Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. So we see in this story of use of Alayhi Salaam, betrayed by his own family, and slave taken away, put in prison, eventually, he comes from the ruling class of Egypt. And so Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam similarly, that his people oppressed him and exiled him and his family members passed away, and he had to leave his

beloved hometown and move to another city. But eventually, he became the ruler of the entire area. So this is really the main message behind surah Yusuf. And that is one of hope and optimism, when things aren't going our way we'll be facing difficulties in our lives will be facing trials, that this is all building us up. It is preparing us for something great that is going to come. And it's a necessary step on the way to their greatness that is that Allah tala has prepared for us.

So this is one of the main lessons we can take from Surah Yusuf. There's many other beautiful lessons you can take from the surah. One that I really enjoyed reflecting on is the concept of true dreams. So the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Sallam stated that after he passes away, there will be no more revelation, but they will be true dreams. And so a dream that signifies something that's going to happen in the future. This is something that's possible for anybody. And I mean anybody because when you reflect on the surah, you see in the sewer, that the king of Egypt had a true dream and he wasn't even a Muslim. Right, the king of Egypt, in the story wasn't even a Muslim. But he had the

true dream. He had the dream, which prophet Yusuf Alayhi Salaam, interpreted that is going to be seven years of drought and and that dream came true. So this means anybody can have a true dream. And this is a lesson of 100 as a way of guiding people of protecting people, assuring people something is going to happen

is one of the miracles. It's something that's a proof of Islam. Anyone who's experienced through dreams or who knows somebody who's experienced through dreams can't have doubts about this religion, because they have seen clear signs of it being true. So this is really a very powerful concept to reflect on. A third lesson from Surah Yusuf that's really worth reflecting on is the concept of forgiveness.

And we spoke about in the previous video, forgiving people or at a lush patella forgiving us year, I want to speak about us forgiving each other, a prophet, Yusuf alayhi salam, his brothers had done to him far worse than any of our family members have done to most of us, right. But at the end when he meets his brothers again, many years later, the first thing he says to them is I forgive you, you know, there's no hard feelings, it's all forgiven. And the Prophet Muhammad says I'm following in his footsteps again. Remember the surah was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Sallam gets lessons about what's going to come in the future. So in the future when the same situation happens

Now many of us we have family members that we refuse to forgive for mistakes they made many years ago. We have friends that we haven't forgiven for mistakes they've made many years ago. We really need to overcome this we need to let it go. We need to forgive and to move on. You know, Allah Subhana Allah says in another verse in the Quran in surah, new forgive and overlook, don't you want a lot to forgive you? So just like we want a less of a handout to forgive us, we must be forgiving to each other. Lots of hands are put into our hearts
