Quranic Themes – Episode 6 – Iman (Belief)

Brothers and Sisters of salaam aleikum wa rahmatullah wa barakato.

We come to another session of the themes of the Quran. And last week we discussed about the Moroccan mindset. And we discussed in our last module using so many different things to try and prepare the mind. First, before he prepares the person for actions and for a man,

see man and belief that we have is something that is the most valuable thing we have. But that a man has got a has got a basis, it needs the basis. And the basis of Eman has to be that a person knows what they what they believe in. So that's why the Quran says in Surah, Mohammed, it says farlam and nahu illa Illa Allah, it says know that there is no other deity, no other God except Alaska Region. So that that ayah, which is in Surah, number 47, even it's not really proper belief. So in the past few sessions, we've been discussing that Allah azzawajal has made the Sahaba of the Aloha know what what it is that they're believing in. and repetition of thinking of a law repetition of the law. And the evidence is repetition of, you know, let's say the stories of the past repetition of laws are just saying that he's the most powerful, he's the most knowledgeable one, he's the one that knows everything that does, you know, whatever he wants the repetition of that again and again and again, gives my Eman a weight. Okay, it gives it a heavier weight. And the more I repeat these things, the more I have my awareness, my understanding my you know, my mind is open to it when I'm listening to this, the more it will anchor in the morning to get heavier and heavier. And therefore my Eman becomes firm, and even more firm

and becomes really, really firm with the repetition of all of this. Now, there's a reason why I'm saying this brothers and sisters who are listening in this day and age, you know, these are the end of you know, we're at the end of time.

And the end of time one of the things that Rasulullah Salallahu has told us is that how quickly people will lose a man Okay, one of the signs of the last time or the last hour is that people will lose the man quickly you spiritual minute William C calphalon. A person will come you know will become a Muslim in the morning. And by evening they've left the man even by evening they're finished. Okay. And these are the times and if you want to know the truth is that there are many people out there who are born Muslim but they have got no connection not real any connection with with Islam or a Muslim name. But if you don't have these concepts and these things coming into your

mind if they don't actually make you connected with a loss of a job. If you don't understand what a man is if you don't go over this is an over this ahaadeeth and what happens is email becomes lighter and lighter and lighter until it is ready to fly away from you. And that is why we have so many people leaving Islam.

Why? Because those people let me just make it clear to you those people who have left Islam had a shallow Eman and those people who find it very difficult to live a man. They've got true Eman. Now Rasulullah sallallahu Sallam said he said he said he gave us the you know in one Hadith. He said that there are three categories of people. And these categories are people that these three categories they have truly tasted

In the sweetness of a man, and one of those categories in Sahih, Bukhari Rasulullah sallallahu Sallam said, he said that a man would rather be thrown into fire than to reject his email.

When a person gets to that stage, when if somebody came up to me and said, you know what I'm going to, you know, again, I'm saying, look, if you're under duress, if somebody forces you to give up your Eman, you can, you know, the Quran says that you can actually at that time, say that you don't believe when you actually do believe, okay, that's just to save yourself from trouble. So let me just give you the verse before people kind of think that they will want to jump in fire. Okay. Want to get shot dead? So let me give you give you that first, and then we'll carry on with that conversation.

So in the in Surah Surah number 16.

I number 16 is number 106. a law student says man kafa Billahi min Imani. Whoever will display any form of disbelief after they believe

that Allah will be angry with them, except he says man aka vocal boom of mine, except the one who has been forced, put under real coercion under duress, and been told that you know, like something like do you believe in Allah. And Allah says, We're called boo macmaine his heart or her heart is firm in a man they really know that they believe in Allah. But at that time, they say they don't believe in Allah just to save themselves from the torture. That is fine. Allah has said in the Holy Quran, but we're not talking about a situation with somebody who actually, you know, mentally they think we know what if it came to it there and somebody wanted to actually throw me in the fire,

because they know I'm a believer. I'm not going to be person who's going to start, you know, panicking at that time and say, No, no, no, no, you know, I'm saying I reject faith. No, you know what, if it comes to it, then it comes to it. If it comes to me dying because of my email, I die because of my email. That is someone who's tasted the sweetness of the man. But that is someone who has worked on the man and the man has become very heavy. Okay, that's an anchoring Eman which is very heavy, which you have taste the sweetness. And your Eman will not fly away from you easily. Now, again, I need to say this, because a lot of brothers and sisters do come again and again and

they say these things. Okay.

One thing that brothers and sisters say is that, you know, people come across doubts, okay, they come across doubts. And and I'll be honest with you, 99% of believers will at some point come across some form of something that might, you know, push them towards doubts. So let me do a quick test here. If you've never had a doubt about Allah, about his messenger, about the truth of Islam, about the Quran, about the ACA about the fact that you might wake up, and it might not be the right religion that you followed, if you never ever had any of these ever come into your mind ever in your life? Not even once. Put your hands up.

Okay, again, see, there's about two or three people put their hands up. Right, the rest of us here, a good sort of, I'd say a good 40 sort of people,

including others that might be sitting at the back there.

We are not putting our hands up.

Nice, anything wrong with you know,

there's nothing wrong with you.

Even I have, at some point face that, you know, once I was really ill, and I don't know why, because what happens is, when you know, just as I said to you, the ship has put its anchor down. And sometimes you could have a heavy anchor and even then you could face some kind of turmoil. Why? Because when the seas are surging, and when you've got a storm brewing up, then even though you've got the anchor down, sometimes the ship can can move a bit. Okay, because of the sea that is now you know, surging and it's got high winds, and it happens sometimes. Okay, once I was really ill. And I don't know, for what reason, just for a few moments, you know, something inside me said, why is this

happened to you? I was ill for many months at one point in my life. And I wasn't I wasn't able to even move because I had a had a problem with my hip joint. And at that time, you know, when you're at your weakest point, it is true. You know, that's that's the time shaytan can get to you. And I was thinking to myself, hang on a minute, what is happening? Why am I hearing these things in my head? Because I preach against this. And I've told people not to do this. But even in my mind, Somebody said, Well, if you've been good

all these years, and you've been praying, then why did this happen to you?

And guys, I want to tell you, it comes into your mind sometimes industry done finished. Big, big

You got to recognize that that shade done. And the thing is it's not. Look you don't become a weak believer because you got worse wasa? No, this is a this is a big

you know, this is the big lie that you tell yourself, see Muslims when they when they have some kind of West facade, some kind of whispering of the hidden, they kind of think to themselves, oh no, I must be weak believe in No, you are the strong believer. Why? Because when the Sahaba of the Allah Hannah Medina came to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam, and they said this, this is according to Hadith a Muslim, they said messenger of Allah, we experience certain thoughts in our minds, that for for us to eat to be even burn,

just completely burned to ashes. We'd rather have that than to utter these things from our mouths of what what came to our minds, we'd rather be burned than tell you what came in our minds.

So the Prophet sallallahu wasallam then asked him a question. He didn't say, Tell me your doubts suddenly. What did you What did you think of? He said, Did you find yourself fighting those doubts and those whisperings? And they said, of course, once you have a law, we will fighting them in our minds, you know, how come this is coming in my mind? You know, no, no, no, no, no, no, you know, the fighting those those whisperings? So the Prophet sallallahu wasallam then said that he can mount a man that is pure 100%. Man.

The fact that you fight these thoughts is a sign that you're a true believer.

The fact that you had was suicide and some whispering came into your mind somewhere at some point in your life is actually in one way a good sign.

Why? Because one of the early stuff. One of the early predecessors, he said a wonderful thing. He said, a thief only goes to a house where there are valuables.

You don't go to an empty house to steal.

Did you guys understand? Hi. So the fact that shaytan came to you means that you've got a man, he's got something to steal. If you've got nothing to steal, then he shouldn't you know, he's not even bothered with you. Just like all those other Muslims out there who don't practice this down. They don't get doubts. They're like, yo, you know, thug life. You know, let's enjoy it, man. They don't get no doubts. Why? Because there's nothing to steal inside them. But you and me, we're working for IE, man, we've got something valuable there. We treasuring it. So shaytan wants to come and steal it. That's why he will look for one way or another way to try and make us doubtful of what we've got

inside us. Okay, so it's a good sign. You've got that now, the Sahaba of the Allahabad advion experience that they experienced was fossa. you have these doubts occurring in your brilliant way, which is as soon as you get the whispering coming inside you and they say you know why? What What is why this Why that? Okay? What you do is straightaway start to remember last, just say Laila Allah Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah Allah and to the whispering say Jazakallah shaytaan shaytan May Allah reward you? Yeah, you've just made me want to remember my Allah. Allah Allah, Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah going on. Hey, do you believe in Allah, thank you very much.

Thank you, thank you. Good, good. Okay.

And what's gonna happen is the second time he comes in does the same whisperings in you, hey, again.

Thank you, man, man.

Man, you reminded me thank you very much May Allah reward you make you Muslim as well. So you can remember

Allah, you know what will happen? I can guarantee you after a few times those resources will stop because shaytan thinks man, I don't do injection to him. Yeah, forget that. And and seriously, I've said this to a lot of people. Whoever has used this has not come back to me and said it doesn't work. So just remember laws of nature. Now. Why does he man quiver? Why does he matter?

You know why people sometimes feeling that they want to leave his time, or they want to stop practicing? Some people might not want to leave his time. But some of our brothers and sisters, we know, they come and pray with us for five years. They pray with us for 10 years. And after a while you slowly slowly, slowly slowly see them drifting. Now, there are many reasons why people will stop, you know, practicing Islam. But there should be no excuse to stop practicing Islam, or to feel that my Eman is something which I don't you know, my Eman is something which

I don't need to bother with any more or my practicing this there should be no reason for that, that my Eman is getting weak because of this band in my life. Because of this situation I have, because of my financial crisis, because of my work Christ, whatever the main reason might be some people go through many different tests, look, tests are gonna come all the time. There is no man, no woman without a test.

But if you had that moment of test link, that problem will do a man

in a negative way,

then you have just fallen into the trap of theta.

So you know what I said to you earlier that I was in an illness. And, you know, I was ill for many months. And suddenly I hear these voices saying to me, you know, if you've been good, and if you believed in a line, if you'd be done all this good, and why did this happen to you? Why would this happen to you, then, you know, that is that is a negative way of linking it to you, man.

You do doing the opposite of what you're supposed to do. what you're supposed to do is I'm in a problem. And Alhamdulillah I've got a man. And now I'm going to use that a man to get myself out of trouble.

Now, the second the second part of the Shakedown, what it does is that let's say you use your email to get out of trouble. First is he he tries to you, he tries for you not to get into the pathway of Allah. Okay, so the first was was a he gives he says to you, he says, you know, all all these years, you've been turning away from Allah. Now you got a problem, you're gonna go to Allah you hypocrite, you have a great new mug, what are you gonna do? You're gonna start worshipping Allah is your problem. So first thing is he tries to stop you coming into it. Second is if you decide that now I'm going to use my Eman to get myself out of trouble. We all know that most people will come to pray,

but you have troubles not going to go straight away.

We will know this.

Because this is the beautiful way of Allah making your mango even stronger. How? If mean, you had a problem and every time we had a problem, we came in and prayed to Allah azza wa jal and Allah took a problem away, straight away. Where would what would we do? Come on? Let's be honest.

We will go away. Yeah, thanks a lot of facts that we love you a lot. Back to back to business again. back to business again. That's what happened around around when he had a problem. And like the water turned to blood. And everyone's water turned to blood. He went to Moosa and he said Moosa, line kashtan. Riggs said if you can just go and

No, you're gonna get a lot of good things coming your way if you come towards me, man, but he doesn't have to solve every single problem that he wants to Anyway, my point is, why do people why do people you know with and why do they go away from from a man at that moment of trouble or when something gone wrong or sometimes Subhanallah some people get extra money extra disk from Allah and that makes them go from from Islam. Why? Because they never worked on the Eman the Sahaba or the Aloha advion. They had many different parts of the, you know,

the faculties the understanding that was always working on a man. Uh, one of the biggest things was that the more reminder you give yourself about allows over

Well, the heavier you eat man becomes. So when the turbulent times comes when the turbulent time comes, that's when your Eman is going to be less likely to be shaken and to start to wither in the wind. So that's what we need to do. So Allah azza wa jal has given us various ways to make that Eman become stronger. And one of the one of the crucial things that I said to you from that from that is sort of Muhammad is there in and the knowledge is needed with a man blind following a faith doesn't make your Eman any stronger. Okay, the more you can secure it with, you know, some and it's a really good thing to do, I'm going to ask you, all your brothers and sisters to do this, which is go to a

course at some point in your life, if you can, you know, through maybe, you know, dealing with a course that deals with the doubts that we might get go to a course that deals with how to make a man stronger. But by saying this, I want to add one thing recently, and probably for the last few 100 years, I don't know, there's been been a great, you know, great thing that people think that aqidah is something okay, actually there is something that if you cover a course in it, the if you if you cover you know, some some books and some courses and guns gun, do some discourse over nakida, then your emails gonna get stronger and stronger and stronger is true. However, there is a problem that

has occurred in the last few 100 years with this whole concept of aqidah. What is aqidah Akita is a set of dogma. It's a set of beliefs, our tenants, our faith, things that have to do with believing in Allah, believing in the messenger, believing in the angels, believing the books, believing in the accurate believing in color, and so on. All these things related to all these things. And you know, staying away from deviancy going towards the truth, how to become a problem esteem, what kind of beliefs to have, what beliefs makes you a proper Muslim, what beliefs makes you a, you know, a Muslim, that leaves the faith that a Muslim that is, you know, on the verge of leaving the faith,

all these things are good to study and we need to study them. But one mistake and one big problem that has happened with these aqidah courses is they have become courses of knowledge

but not a faith.

Now let me repeat this they become cost of knowledge so they give you like 10 things to believe about Allah seven things to believe with a personal awesome three things to believe about your email, four things to believe here. And these become parts of knowledge. But what happens is your actual email doesn't increase your Eman doesn't become way to why because you're not relating the key that to real life.

When the Quran see in the whole Quran, you will find that Allah azza wa jal has talked about Eman.

Okay, I want to talk about a man he links it with actions.

It's a practical world, where your knowledge and your aqidah and you believes in the real world, they joined together and it turns into some practice some form of practice. That is what really man should be. So what has happened with these courses, is that they will teach you all these things, for example, they will teach you Okay, you know, one of the things about a man is that you depend on Allah Xhosa, we depend on what we do takuna Allah and and they'll tell you a whole hour or half an hour about Tohoku and they'll give you is from the crowd. And they depended on Allah in the crisis that they were in, that they showed their support. And they showed their patience in the midst of the problem that they had. So it wasn't just knowledge. It was in a real life or all of these things were happening. You guys, do you guys understand what I'm trying to say? Right? So for example, they had the Battle of boyhood, and the Battle of Ohio, they had losses, they had a lot of losses.

And at that moment, if you look into the Allium Ron, so Ron, Ron has the story of or heard in it. So and that is really man and that is what allows us to do. And that was the way that the Sahaba dealt with, you know, with Eman and they became the individuals that they became. If you're wondering today Why Why are Muslims

like the way they are today? And why are they so shallow because we've we've separated all the departments. So when it comes to my social life is separate from my email and appearances, your social life is not separate from me, man. When it comes to my dealings and my mama, that I'm dealing with money, I sometimes think well, it's alright for me to quickly just do this deal. It doesn't matter how that's separate from me being a believer. And the moment you do that, what you're doing is you're you're actually affecting your email because email is directly linked to all of this. When a person lies. He you a man is affected when a person can be dinner, your email is affected. The

Hadees is clear. Man is with a woman, and both another day they're sleeping together in the harem for each other. Both the man hovers above them.

Okay, both the man exits the body hovers above them, he's a Muslim until they finish the act of the doing and then the email will come back into the bodies. Why? Because you're doing an act, all your actions are linked directly to your email. If you do a good action, it boosts your email. If you do a bad action. It makes your Eman go weaker. And it makes you you know, it's almost like is lm give an example. It's almost like

if you had honey, if you had pure honey, you wouldn't put any other item in that Honey, you wouldn't put butter in that Honey, you wouldn't put oil in that Honey, you wouldn't put crumbs of bread in that Honey, you wouldn't. Because you spoil the honey. The honey is pure. So you take a spoon and you take the honey out and you separate it to another different plate. And each time you want to take the honey you take it with it with a spoon that is not affected by any other thing. Why? Because it's pure. The moment you do some bad action it has affected you man. But you know, all is not lost. You can always you know regain your Eman again by doing the right action. Now I'm going to

give you a set of verses from the Quran that tells us that all of these things are linked to Imam. Okay, so Allah azza wa jal gave them many verses in Madina munawwara. So they had spent 13 years in Makkah, Allah Israel from from what I said to you last week, it was a mecca mindset, a lot of laws are created. And that that gave them the anchoring of their faith. And then when they came to Medina, that he man was ready to manifest in all parts of their lives, when allow, would tell them then that get up and do this get up and do that they were ready.

Because the email was linked to all these actions. And the driving engine was strong. When you got the driving engine strong, then it's ready to do anything. So let me give you another example before I Before I continue,

if you're if you believe in something, really, you know, if you believe in something deeply, the greater you believe is, the more you will work for it, the more you will try and try to try to achieve that thing. So to give you a quick example,

if you believe

that, let's say for example, the the the winter holidays are here right now, the winter holidays, and the Christmas period that is coming and a Christmas period, you know that you're in a job. And you know, your colleagues are all taking time off on the 24th December 25 26th 27. They're taking time off. So the company wants to come in running and tells you that whoever wants to work, we're going to give you three times the pay for those days, three times a pay.

Now, if your belief is that yes, I'm going to get three times the pay. If you believe that yes, my my employer is going to pay me you're going to make sure that when those times come you're going to you're going to shift everything else out of the way. And you're going to make sure that on the 25th 26th whatever you're there and you want to work and you want to get three times the pay four times the pay you believe is going to work normal hours, but I'm going to get extra four times the pay. Why did you work when nobody else is working it because if you believe that at the end of the month when my paycheck comes at the end of December, it's going to be a good paycheck that I'm going

to receive and I'm going to enjoy having that extra front

extra money is in my, in my, in my account. Now that we kept that action that you did during that period is because you had the belief if the belief was in there, if you believe that you don't want my employees just saying it.

If that was in your heart, my employees just saying it, when I do, the hard work is gonna turn around, he's gonna say, nah,

I'm not gonna honor it,
