Praise to Allah and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and upon all those who follow His guidance to follow his way, his Sunnah his methodology until the last day. My dear respected brothers and sisters in Islam, salaam aleikum, wa rahmatullah warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

00:00:23--> 00:00:35

Today's lecture, today's presentation is entitled, who will truly be the happy one, who will truly be the happy one.

00:00:37--> 00:00:45

Each and every single one of us in this life in this transitory life in this temporary life is after happiness.

00:00:47--> 00:01:00

It doesn't matter whether you are young, you are old. Okay? what language you speak the color of your skin, where you come from, everybody wants to be happy.

00:01:02--> 00:01:04

And in some cultures,

00:01:05--> 00:01:32

it is commonly believed that happiness is achieved. When you become rich. Some people think if I become rich, and I have lots of money, I'm going to be happy. Some people believe that authority and power makes you happy. Some people have the belief that popularity makes you happy.

00:01:34--> 00:01:46

Everyone seems to be selling happiness these days. There is this one way or another of trying to sell people how to be happy.

00:01:47--> 00:01:48

For example,

00:01:50--> 00:02:11

and this is maybe an extreme case, drug dealers, people selling, you know, all sorts of illicit drugs, recreational, they call it recreational drugs, so you can be happy. So when you're feeling down, and you're going through a trial and a dilemma and a challenge in your life, we can sell you with substance that will make you happy.

00:02:12--> 00:02:18

Some people, such as pharmaceutical companies will sell you some sort of, you know,

00:02:19--> 00:02:29

a lighter version of the illicit stuff that will make you happy, some sort of medication or medicine, whatever it is, you want to call it, or herb.

00:02:31--> 00:03:00

And then we have, of course, Hollywood, pumping out their movies and Bollywood. And, of course, you know, Disney, everyone is out to sell happiness. We have toy companies, you know, all sorts of toys and gadgets, and, you know, games and consoles, and all these different technological devices that are being thrown at us, to make us happier people.

00:03:02--> 00:03:48

And then, of course, there are those self help gurus, you know, writing all sorts of books about how to be very happy and and what have you. So, as you can see many people, they will try and sell you happiness in many, many ways. Now, today, one of the highest selling medicines in the world are antidepressants. Yes, this is the reality that many people are depressed, that antidepressants are one of the top three selling drugs or medicines in the world. When it comes to for example, you have

00:03:49--> 00:04:02

top selling medicines like that are related to the heart or diabetes and up there with those two and you can verify that with your local drugstore as they call it. Although your local pharmacist or chemist,

00:04:03--> 00:04:14

you will find that antidepressants are prescribed by so many doctors, people are depressed people are going through anxiety for stress.

00:04:16--> 00:04:31

studies have revealed that in Australia, being an Australian I'm going to be talking about Australia, of course, in Australia, one in four women and one in six men will experience depression at some time in their life.

00:04:32--> 00:04:35

That depression disorders

00:04:36--> 00:04:46

affect the approximately 18 point 8 million Americans 18 point 8 million Americans are depressed.

00:04:47--> 00:04:50

That's almost the population of Australia

00:04:52--> 00:04:59

50% of the population of the most developed countries, most developed countries 50

00:05:00--> 00:05:05

8% of the population of most developed countries suffer severe depression

00:05:07--> 00:05:12

15% of depressed people will commit suicide.

00:05:14--> 00:05:17

And that over the past decade,

00:05:18--> 00:05:28

some 2100 people have died by suicide each year in Australia 2100 people.

00:05:30--> 00:05:47

And that depression results in more absenteeism than almost any other physical disorder, people will take time off work, and not come to work because of being so depressed.

00:05:49--> 00:06:11

And that the World Health Organization concluded, in a research that I came across that by 20 22,020, depression will be the world's major health problem costing many billions of dollars to deal with. So,

00:06:12--> 00:06:16

so canon law, what is amazing is that

00:06:17--> 00:06:26

we have advanced technologically I mean, if we think about the world that we live in today, the technology that we have is phenomenal.

00:06:28--> 00:07:07

When we look at the Internet, when we look at the social networks today, you know, I can have the whole world, in my very bedroom, or my lounge room, the whole world can be actually the whole world could be in my palm, with our smartphones, you know, this, this device here, that that I can pretty much conceal with my with my hand is, is, you know, you were in contact with the world you are in contact, whether it's through Facebook, whether it's MSN, whether it's

00:07:09--> 00:07:23

Skype, and the list goes on. So we have all of these technological devices and Mashallah, and Hamdulillah, in many ways, we have advanced technologically,

00:07:25--> 00:07:37

and in the way we do things in the way we travel and getting things done. But one area that we have failed in, is when it comes to the development of

00:07:39--> 00:07:42

our, me, our soul and our spirit

00:07:43--> 00:07:53

that makes what is it that will make us happy because these devices, yes, they exist. But look at the statistics. The statistics are alarming. And that despite all of this, we're not happy.

00:07:55--> 00:07:56

And the question is,

00:07:58--> 00:08:01

can happiness really be purchased? Can you buy happiness?

00:08:02--> 00:08:03

That is the question.

00:08:04--> 00:08:29

Is happiness achieved by maximizing pleasure? If you maximize pleasure, do you achieve happiness? Or if you earn fame, you become famous? Or you have a lot of fortune, do you become necessarily happy? Well, if you look at, again, the lives of the biographies of so many famous people, you will find that they are very miserable people

00:08:30--> 00:08:34

very miserable, in many ways, suicidal,

00:08:37--> 00:09:27

or living a life of unlimited leisure, does that bring you happiness? Now, one reason we have so much trouble attaining happiness is that we have no idea about what it is. What is happiness. If you were to speak to different people, they're going to give you a different answer of what happiness means to them. So there's no one definition of what happiness is. So consequently, what happens we make poor judgments, we make poor judgments in our life. Sometimes, in order to achieve happiness, people attempt to follow complicated paths. So they'll go this way and that way, and this methodology and this system and, and they'll try all these different things very complicated, just

00:09:27--> 00:09:28

to find happiness.

00:09:29--> 00:09:32

And they fail to see one path

00:09:33--> 00:09:45

that leads to ultimate happiness. And that path is the path of Islam. And to every non Muslim who was listening to me right now, I invite you to Islam.

00:09:47--> 00:09:52

And I say to you, if you embrace Islam, and the teachings of Islam sincerely,

00:09:53--> 00:09:57

and with an open mind, and an open heart,

00:09:58--> 00:09:59

I guarantee you by Allah

00:10:00--> 00:10:14

That you will find happiness and you will be tranquil. And you will find the serenity that you are looking for. No matter despite how much money you have a way you are living in the world right now. Islam offers you that

00:10:16--> 00:10:25

Islam is a way of life. Islam is not something that we do every now and then. It's a way of life.

00:10:26--> 00:10:32

Islam offers solutions to the world's to today's perplexing problems.

00:10:34--> 00:10:49

Islam is a spiritual faith for those efforts. And in pursuit of spirituality. Islam does offer spirituality through its many ways of worship.

00:10:50--> 00:11:28

And it nurtures the souls of the human being. And hamdulillah. Islam provides people with a plethora of coping mechanisms to deal with the challenges of life and bitter hardships. Yes, this life without a doubt consists of trials, tribulations, hardships. And when you look into the teachings of Islam and into its two primary sources, the court and the sooner you will find that it teaches us many concepts, many

00:11:29--> 00:11:35

actions, both that are preventative and curative.

00:11:36--> 00:11:54

In making us happy, and making us deal with our dilemmas, making us deal with the loss of a loved one, making us do with an understand why Allah has taken away the life of somebody that is dear to us, or why we are in a situation that we are in.

00:11:56--> 00:12:01

So at hamdulillah Islam has left no stone unturned.

00:12:02--> 00:12:18

Islam provides mankind with many formulas to achieve happiness not only in this transitory life, but more importantly, in the life to come. Because we exist on the face of this earth, to worship Allah azza wa jal.

00:12:20--> 00:12:25

And as a test, that one day we will be moving on to the next slide.

00:12:26--> 00:12:35

And whereby we'll be we'll be meeting Allah, our Creator, and he will ask us about whether we fulfilled our duty towards him or not.

00:12:37--> 00:12:48

In the Hadith that is found in Sahih Bukhari most authentic book after the poor and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, true enrichment,

00:12:50--> 00:13:35

true enrichment does not come through, possessing a lot of wealth. It's not about how much wealth that you have, that will enrich you and make you happy. He said, But true enrichment is the enrichment of the soul. Yes, you may have so much money and so much wealth. But are you happy in here? Are you truly happy in here? Because materialism or materialistic things do not bring about happiness? To find happiness, my dear brothers and sisters in Islam, ladies and gentlemen, to find true happiness, we must seek to know Allah azza wa jal, our Creator

00:13:37--> 00:13:39

and especially through his names and his attributes.

00:13:41--> 00:14:01

How can we expect to find happiness? How can we expect to find happiness? When we forget about Allah, when Allah when God Almighty is not our priority? Allah in the Quran, he says, while otaku can Lavina Sula, have an

00:14:03--> 00:14:08

fusa whom do not be like those who forgot about Allah.

00:14:09--> 00:14:12

So Allah makes them forget about themselves.

00:14:14--> 00:14:31

A person doesn't know how to find happiness because Allah leaves them to themselves. But when you include Allah in your life, Allah will direct you will guide you to the resources that will make you a happier person.

00:14:33--> 00:14:39

And it is very important to be in constant pursuit of

00:14:41--> 00:14:47

the teachings of our lives. So with that knowledge, it's very important that we continue to learn and never stop learning.

00:14:48--> 00:14:59

It is about being ready to learn, and in some cases, being ready to unlearn and learn some of the things

00:15:00--> 00:15:21

We have learned that have no basis that are not true, that are not founded on on true reports. So it is about learning, it's about unlearning sometimes, and it's about relearning, we have to have this attitude inshallah. Because there are many things in life that we will learn,

00:15:22--> 00:15:23

that are

00:15:24--> 00:15:34

fabricated, or that are based on weak reports. So, it's very important to be always seeking the truth, even if it means it's going to be bitter.

00:15:35--> 00:15:55

Even if it means the truth is going to be bitter, at least in the very beginning, but insha Allah, huzzah, Allah, The truth will manifest and the truth will enter your heart and conquer your soul, and you will be a happier person as a result of that truth. Just like when you take medicine in the beginning, it's bitter, but then you get better inshallah.

00:15:58--> 00:16:03

So it's about seeking knowledge by the brothers and sisters in Islam, even taymiyah, one of the great scholars of Islam.

00:16:05--> 00:16:09

He said, One day, I became ill, I was sick.

00:16:10--> 00:16:12

And the doctor, the physician,

00:16:13--> 00:16:29

told me that reading and giving talks on knowledge would only exasperate my condition, it's only going to make things worse, because he was very, very dedicated, very passionate, about, you know, learning and, and teaching this knowledge

00:16:30--> 00:16:33

that could quite that could be, you know, require a lot of effort.

00:16:34--> 00:16:42

So the doctor said to me, Look, I suggest that you just cut down on all these, you know, heavy learning that you're doing, cut down this diode that you're doing.

00:16:44--> 00:17:14

And so even taymiyah him on Long Island, he said, Look, you know, I can't do this, this is in my blood, you want me to leave off something that I do every day of my life? For so many hours? So even taymiyah, he asked the doctor, he said, Look, he said, that's the that's the physical body because he was physically ill. He said, that's the physical body become stronger or better? And, and is the sickness repelled? If

00:17:15--> 00:17:19

the soul is happy, if my soul is happy,

00:17:21--> 00:17:27

and joyful? Is there a relationship between the soul and the physical body?

00:17:28--> 00:17:43

You know, what he's getting at? Huh? So, then the doctor says, Yes, if you feel good on the inside, this helps the outside this helps you your physical body, in repairing itself.

00:17:44--> 00:18:00

And so panela He said, Well, I find, he said, my soul finds joy and comfort, comfort and strength, when I seek knowledge, and when I impart this knowledge,

00:18:01--> 00:18:18

so, this is something that we need to keep in mind, inshallah hotellet. It is about nurturing our soul, and nurturing. You know, just as we nurture our physical body, we need to always be nurturing our spiritual bodies as well inshallah.

00:18:19--> 00:18:33

Now, today, we are talking about who is truly the happy one, and how to find this happiness and some exercises that you can do to be happy. One research that I came across

00:18:35--> 00:19:04

stated, and listed seven, seven, scientifically proven ways to increase your happiness. So there's not, you know, like a huge list. And I thought, let me share these seven with you. Seven scientifically proven ways. And you know, what's interesting about these seven, each and every single one of them is found in the teachings of Islam from over 1400 years ago,

00:19:06--> 00:19:13

whereby we didn't need to do scientific research to come to these conclusions.

00:19:14--> 00:19:33

So what are they? The first one that was mentioned, is avoid comparisons, avoid comparisons. Don't go comparing your situation to others. And the professor Alan Wiley, he was selling Actually, he told us,

00:19:35--> 00:19:44

he said, in the Hadith, he said, Don't look at the one who is in a superior position to you.

00:19:45--> 00:19:59

But look at the one who is in an inferior or less fortunate situation than you are, so you can become more grateful to allies or whichever. So don't go looking at people who are doing better.

00:20:01--> 00:20:25

But look at those people who are less fortunate than you. Those individuals that are less fortunate because when you look at those less fortunate you feel you know what hamdulillah I've got, you know, I have something that he hasn't got. But when you start to look at those above you, you're gonna feel miserable. So don't go comparing and insane that when it comes to comparisons, how do you know?

00:20:26--> 00:20:30

You want to be rich like such and such?

00:20:31--> 00:20:39

Let's say you are a practicing Muslim. And Allah is your priority. Islam is your priority. Right? You're a practicing Muslim.

00:20:41--> 00:20:52

And you want to be like so and so who was rich? How do you know if you became rich? You wouldn't be corrupted, or that your wealth would

00:20:55--> 00:20:58

would actually occupy you from worshipping Eliza Witter?

00:20:59--> 00:21:00

How do you know?

00:21:01--> 00:21:08

So don't wish to be somebody in somebody else's position, it might not necessarily be good for you

00:21:09--> 00:21:23

don't wish to be a poor person in saying that then which if you're rich, this I wish I was poor. Maybe you were rich, and you were practicing. Maybe if you were poor, you wouldn't be so practicing because you'd be worried too worried about accumulating the wealth.

00:21:25--> 00:21:26

don't wish to become

00:21:27--> 00:21:47

let's say for example, you have an illness, you have an illness. And you feel that if you are in a better or more healthiest state, you will be in a better situation. How do you know? Maybe it's better for you to have your illness? And yet, you are one that is remembering Allah azza wa jal

00:21:48--> 00:22:06

if you were in good health, you might not so and vice versa. So it's very important to accept, accept your condition and say Alhamdulillah and this is the way of a believer who says and hamdulillah he praises Allah azza wa jal.

00:22:07--> 00:22:27

The second one, the second one of the seven scientifically proven ways to increase your happiness. They said, this research stated, smile, smile, even when you don't feel like it. Smile, even when you don't feel like they said, Well, guess what?

00:22:28--> 00:22:40

Let's see what the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he said about this of a 1400 years ago. He said in the Hadith is found Sahih Bukhari, he said, Do not think little of any good date.

00:22:42--> 00:22:48

Do not think little of any good deed, then a little good date. That's ours. That's nothing that's just trivial.

00:22:50--> 00:22:54

He said, even if it is just greeting your brother.

00:22:55--> 00:22:59

In other words, another person, brother or sister is a man with a cheerful smile.

00:23:00--> 00:23:02

With a cheerful smile.

00:23:03--> 00:23:14

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in Bukhari, he said, to smile in the face of your brother, his charity given on your behalf, it's a sadhaka It's a charity

00:23:16--> 00:23:17

and that's a panela.

00:23:18--> 00:23:40

a smiling face indicates a good quality and causes blessitt results. And as the saying goes, a smile is a curve that sets many things straight. So in shallow tyla smile, many people that are small enough, always frowning and always, you know, so serious. Why so serious?

00:23:42--> 00:24:12

You know, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was always known to have a smiling face, it represents optimism, confidence, and people are attracted to confident people. People like to spend time with confident people don't want miserable people around them. It's not you know, one way if you want to get rid of people from hanging out with you and spending time with you, it's just be very miserable. Believe me before you know that people don't want to spend time with you. You too sad.

00:24:14--> 00:24:14

So

00:24:16--> 00:24:20

don't worry, be happy. Smile, Mashallah.

00:24:21--> 00:24:22

Number three.

00:24:23--> 00:24:28

They said get out and exercise. Get out and exercise.

00:24:30--> 00:24:58

A university study shows that exercise may be just as effective as drugs in treating depression. If you're depressed, you're very miserable. You're feeling down, go for a jog, get involved with something with a little bit of any strenuous strenuous activity because then there is a release of oxytocin, endorphins, the happy stuff the happy fluids that are released when you exercise

00:25:00--> 00:25:12

Get out there and exercise. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said Remember I told you everything in this research has support in the Hadith, or in Islam.

00:25:13--> 00:25:20

In the Hadith fan Sahih Muslim, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, I strong believer I'll Muslim all away.

00:25:21--> 00:25:28

He said, I strong believer is better and more beloved in the sight of Allah than a weak believer

00:25:30--> 00:25:30

strength.

00:25:32--> 00:25:36

Now here he's not only talking about the strength of your faith, which is

00:25:37--> 00:25:41

a priority, of course to be strong in your faith in your Eman in your taqwa.

00:25:43--> 00:25:48

But also that optimum health and fitness were desirable traits in a believer.

00:25:50--> 00:25:54

The Happy one, my dear brothers and sisters in a stem is the one who has a balanced life.

00:25:56--> 00:26:06

And the key word, the operative word here is balance. And when Selman came to Abu Dhabi, he visited his brother

00:26:07--> 00:26:09

in Islam, his party

00:26:11--> 00:26:22

Selma and visited Abu Dhabi that and I would that that Allah be pleased with him was detached from you know this the worldly pleasures

00:26:23--> 00:26:24

too detached.

00:26:25--> 00:26:33

So segment gives him brotherly advice. He says to him in Iraq Vika Alex

00:26:34--> 00:26:52

we're in Nadine fck alayka Huck, we're in nearly as Lika alika Huck out the levee, Hakan haka. He said, your load has rights over you. Yes, Allah has rights over us to worship him to follow His commands to keep away from his prohibitions.

00:26:53--> 00:27:02

Your Lord has rights over you, your self has rights over you. nurturing your mind, your body, your soul.

00:27:04--> 00:27:25

Your family has rights over you. And he goes on and he says and give each day do rights give each day Jew rights. So therefore brothers and sisters in Islam, it's about balance your body, look after look after your physical body,

00:27:26--> 00:27:35

each healthy exercise very important, there is a link between your physical body and your spiritual body.

00:27:36--> 00:27:38

Healthy Body equals what

00:27:40--> 00:27:40

healthy mind.

00:27:42--> 00:28:15

So, let us remember this and let us apply these. Let us you know, go for our walks in our exercise and you know, whatever it is, will lie you will find that better quality of your life you'll find yourself sharper in memory happier. This all been proven scientifically with 100 reliable element. Number four, they said make friends and treasure family, make friends and treasure your family. That's one of the scientifically proven ways of being happy.

00:28:16--> 00:28:23

So happier people tend to have good families, friends, and supportive friendships.

00:28:25--> 00:29:01

So and we find support online, the poor and certainly sad verse 36, Allah azza wa jal talks about this. He says worship Allah and associating with him and to parents do good. And to relatives, orphans, the needy, they need neighbor, the neighbor farther away the companion at your right the traveler and those whom your right hand possess. So what is this telling us to have relationships, to have good relationships with the people that are around us. And when you form these good relationships, you will become a happier person in sha Allah number five.

00:29:02--> 00:29:18

They said, say thank you like you mean it. Say thank you, like you mean it by you being a grateful person, a person who expresses their gratitude and they thanks, you will be a happier person.

00:29:21--> 00:29:55

One study revealed that people who express their gratitude on a weekly basis are healthier, more optimistic, and more likely to make progress towards achieving personal goals. Brothers and sisters in Islam, ladies and gentlemen, Islam teaches that whatever condition we find ourselves in, we should be grateful. Always be grateful. In certain Baqarah verse 152, Allah subhanho wa Taala says Federico Rooney as gurukula skoolie.

00:29:58--> 00:30:00

Allah says, sir, remember

00:30:00--> 00:30:01

May I will remember you

00:30:02--> 00:30:05

and be grateful to me and do not deny me.

00:30:06--> 00:30:10

Part of our faith is to show gratitude and show your thanks.

00:30:11--> 00:30:12

And

00:30:13--> 00:30:14

it's part of

00:30:16--> 00:30:42

thanking Allah azza wa jal when you think of this the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said manlam Yes quirinus lmds karela whoever does not show their thanks towards the people is not one who shows their thanks to Allah azza wa jal so you you want to be amongst those who shows their thanks to Allah, they show thanks towards people very simple. Thank you. In Islam, the equivalent of thank you and better is the phrase jazak Allahu hieron

00:30:43--> 00:30:57

Oh to a female jazak Allahu hiera. Oh, hi, Ron. Which means May Allah compensate you with goodness? May Allah bless you with goodness, how beautiful is that? when someone does an act of service towards you or for you?

00:30:59--> 00:31:08

And you can say to them, may Allah compensate you for the service that you have just done for me? That is what Islam teaches us.

00:31:09--> 00:31:17

And we do not believe through any act of goodness. So we say thank you to all those acts. That is what Islam teaches us.

00:31:19--> 00:31:35

And when you are thankful to Allah azza wa jal, Allah gives you more Subhanallah you thank Allah by thanking him It gives you What's the proof? It's found the sweet Ibrahim verse seven. Allah subhanho wa Taala says, What is the bucola Shakira

00:31:37--> 00:31:39

Shakira Toma as he then

00:31:41--> 00:31:54

he says, and remember when your Lord proclaimed, proclaimed, if you are grateful, if you are grateful, I will surely I will surely increase you in favor. But if you deny,

00:31:55--> 00:32:07

indeed, my punishment is severe. The six scientifically proven way of finding happiness, I said, is give it away, and give it away now.

00:32:09--> 00:32:12

Give it away and give it away. Now what do I mean by that?

00:32:14--> 00:32:30

It means it's about being selfless and not selfish. It's about being altruistic altruism, thinking about others and putting others before you. When you can do that, you will find yourself a happier person.

00:32:32--> 00:32:37

And one researcher he said, he said, helping a neighbor.

00:32:39--> 00:32:50

Volunteering or donating goods and services results in what he calls or terms, a helpers high. You get high just by helping someone

00:32:53--> 00:33:00

and you get more health benefits than you would from exercise or quitting smoking.

00:33:02--> 00:33:25

When you are selfless, and you give you give to others. And now let's look at Islam. If we look at Islam, Islam offers us opportunities to be happy, and to get that help as hi through one through zecca which is part of the five pillars of Islam, whereby a Muslim gives you know a percentage of their wealth every single year.

00:33:26--> 00:33:46

If they meet the nisab if they meet the threshold to the poor to the needy and those who are deserving, the deserving recipients as we find in chapter nine verse 60 of the Quran, the eight deserving recipients zeca sadaqa Islam

00:33:48--> 00:33:59

encourages us to enjoin the good Islamic coders to forbid the wrong so this is how when you when you go and give and you do these things, you kind of feel happy.

00:34:01--> 00:34:21

You actually feel very happy and I can I can tell you this as a power worker, you know, when I sit with someone and I can impart what little knowledge alized oil has given me with somebody and just give them even if it's just one verse from the Quran or one Hadith, the the overwhelming feeling of happiness, I cannot explain to you

00:34:22--> 00:34:28

and and you ask any diver worker, any chef, any mmm and they will tell you the same thing.

00:34:29--> 00:34:32

There is a sweetness that evolves or comes about

00:34:34--> 00:34:37

the seventh scientifically proven way

00:34:39--> 00:34:50

of finding happiness or achieving happiness. They said, put money low on your list of priorities put money low on your list of priorities.

00:34:54--> 00:34:59

People who put money high on their priority list are more

00:35:00--> 00:35:06

risk for depression, anxiety and low self esteem according to researches.

00:35:08--> 00:35:15

What does Islam say that this is a horrible hurry. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, Well law he,

00:35:16--> 00:35:18

by Allah,

00:35:19--> 00:35:20

I am not afraid.

00:35:22--> 00:35:24

I am not afraid that you will be poor.

00:35:25--> 00:35:36

He said, but I see that worldly wealth will be bestowed upon you, as it was bestowed upon those who live before you. He's talking to the Muslims, he is addressing the Muslims.

00:35:37--> 00:35:49

He said, so you will compete amongst yourselves for it, and they competed for it, as they competed for it, and it will destroy you, as it destroyed them.

00:35:50--> 00:35:56

When you start competing for wealth and making both your priority, it can destroy you.

00:35:58--> 00:36:29

So the question is, who is truly the happy one who was really happy? Not this superficial happiness, this pretend happiness. But really, who is the one that is going to be happy in this life, happy in the life of a barista when you're in the grave, the transitory life? And who is the happy one on the day of judgment? And who is the happy one beyond the day of judgment? Let us see what Islam has offered.

00:36:32--> 00:36:44

There is a beautiful verse in the Quran, Allah subhanho wa Taala says, it gives us the formula for happiness and a godly life and every single one of us after a godly life. He says, Man, Amina saw

00:36:46--> 00:36:46

the caring

00:36:48--> 00:36:51

mean, well, who am I mean on site I know.

00:36:56--> 00:37:06

Allah subhanho wa Taala says, Man, Amina, Mohammed, whoever does righteous deeds, good deeds, male or female, and he is a believer or she is a believer.

00:37:07--> 00:37:10

We will grant them a goodly life.

00:37:13--> 00:37:32

righteous deeds, pleasing to Allah having the correct belief, the belief that Allah wants you to believe in not the belief that your mentality and your logic tells you is the right one. But a belief that is based upon facts upon evidence.

00:37:34--> 00:37:35

without a shadow of doubt.

00:37:37--> 00:37:42

Allah says, We will grant this person, a goodly life. It's very black and white.

00:37:44--> 00:37:48

So I invite every non Muslim

00:37:49--> 00:38:11

to Islam to taste the godly life. And I invite every Muslim who has derailed and who has been hoodwinked and who has been duped by the chef on the devil and his agents. I invite him and her to come back to the teachings of Islam.

00:38:12--> 00:38:21

And you will find happiness and that will lie You will not find it through drugs and through committing haram and through illicit relationships.

00:38:23--> 00:39:10

The Happy one is the one who will follow the guidance of the Creator Allah subhana wa tada Allah who said, Allah subhana wa tada says, family tada hood if Allah, Allah Shah, he said, and whoever follows my guidance will neither go astray meaning in this world, nor will he suffer meaning in the hereafter. Listen to what he says in the next verse. He says, woman out of the creeper in Allahumma shatta Tanaka, he says, and whoever turns away from my remembrance, indeed he will have a depressed life or miserable life.

00:39:11--> 00:39:18

The Happy one, my dear brothers and sisters in Islam is the one whose heart is in consistent

00:39:19--> 00:39:22

connection with Allah azza wa jal with the Creator.

00:39:23--> 00:39:43

Morning and evening, day and night, through Tukwila revering Allah azza wa jal and being conscious of Allah azza wa jal, the happy one is the one who's hot finds peace and tranquility, through the remembrance of Allah, remembering him with his heart with his tongue and with his limbs. Allah subhana wa Island.

00:39:44--> 00:39:46

He says to us in the Quran,

00:39:47--> 00:39:55

Allah be the karela he Tacoma in no kulu is through the remembrance of Allah that the hearts find contentment.

00:39:57--> 00:39:59

That's for me to remember Allah and when you remember Allah

00:40:00--> 00:40:06

Guess what? He remembers you. And when he remembers you, amazing things are going to happen in your life.

00:40:07--> 00:40:10

But it's up to us to remember him how, without tongue.

00:40:12--> 00:40:26

reading the Quran, words of remembrance in the morning and the evening after the solid before you go to sleep before you got your car into your home, leave your home into the machine, leave the masjid and all those times that have been legislated to remember Allah azza wa jal.

00:40:28--> 00:40:37

And so it's very important, my dear brothers and sisters in STEM to fortify yourselves, and protect yourselves through the morning and the evening.

00:42:06--> 00:42:09

Through the actions, they are saying, relief,

00:42:13--> 00:42:36

the further they are saying, Give us relieve us of the Salah we just want to get this over and done with so the Muslims shouldn't have this attitude. So that shouldn't be a burden. But it should be something that you look forward to. And part of the problem brothers and sisters in Islam is our lives are too rushed. We need to, we need to turn it down a bit. And we need to, you know,

00:42:39--> 00:43:01

work at a slower pace. You know, there are so many opportunities, especially in the Western world to work and to make money to socialize. But we need to strike that balance. Otherwise, you find yourself always in a rush. And so when you rush there is a ripple effect and you find your Salat is rushed your acts of worship are rushed and you that enjoy those acts of worship.

00:43:02--> 00:43:06

So paste yourself that's the word I'm looking for paste yourself always in sha Allah.

00:43:07--> 00:43:27

The Happy one is the one who fasted Ramadan, the month of Ramadan, and we fast the other days of the year that are recommended to us. The one who is truly happy is the one who gives sadaqa you see when you give charity charity, you get that that that that satisfactory feeling that I spoke about earlier.

00:43:29--> 00:44:01

The Happy one is the one who fulfills fulfills the fifth pillar of Islam Hajj, when you fulfill Hajj, you find yourself happier you find so you have discharged your duty to Allah azza wa jal. You see, that's the thing we live sometimes with, you know, as we traveling towards Allah azza wa jal, we actually feel that I haven't completed my five pillars of Islam. So the quicker you can fulfill the fifth pillar, the better don't procrastinate. As soon as you can afford it go, how do you know that you're going to become ill or not? How do you know that you were even going to live?

00:44:03--> 00:44:47

The Happy one is the one who thinks Allah azza wa jal as we've mentioned, the happy one is the one who is respected and loved by others because of his excellent manners. When you have excellent manners, you'll be happy because people will respect you and people will love you. And so Pamela, this is because Allah loves you. And when Allah loves somebody, as per the Hadith, he calls out to the inhabitant, because that's what you bring to Gabriel. And he says, system I love so and so. So love you. And so she really loves that person. And then jabril calls out to the inhabitants of the of the heavens to the angels is Allah love such such and such, so love him and so, he is loved by

00:44:47--> 00:44:59

the inhabitants of the heavens. And Allah subhanho wa Taala allows for the people on this earth to love that person also. So there is happiness there. Their happiness is sought by you know

00:45:00--> 00:45:16

Bye bye. also gaining inshallah hota Allah, you know that respect. And one of one of the biggest assets, one of the biggest assets that you can have in life is that you have the respect of others, if you can have the respect of others and people respecting you.

00:45:17--> 00:45:21

This is a very big asset to have with you in shallow silence.

00:45:23--> 00:45:28

The Happy one is the one who keeps away from sins no matter how minor they are,

00:45:29--> 00:45:30

doesn't belittle a sin.

00:45:31--> 00:46:12

The Happy one is the one who recognizes the value of time and doesn't waste it. Muslims don't waste time. And Allah Subhana with Allah on the Day of Judgment, he says, As per the Hadith, the prophet Salim said, let's have Zulu koderma abdeen Yama, Yama had to use an alibi that the two feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Judgment until he's asked about four things. And one of those questions that you'll be asked about is your life and how did you spend it? How did you spend your time? How did you spell you spend your your youth and your young, your young age when you had all of this energy and all of this time on your hand? How did you spend it? Don't be Don't waste

00:46:12--> 00:46:12

time.

00:46:13--> 00:46:28

Allah mentions time in the poor and will acid in an incentive, that by time man is in loss except for those who believe and who act upon their belief who does righteous deeds and cause others towards the truth and those who are patient?

00:46:30--> 00:46:46

The Happy one is the one who is patient, yes. When when you are patient because much of the dilemmas and much of the struggles of life require one to be patient. And Allah Subhana Allah has mentioned patience in about 102 times in the Quran.

00:46:47--> 00:46:54

So it's very important that we are in constant, any state of supper and patience.

00:46:55--> 00:47:16

The Happy one, my dear brothers and sisters in Islam will be the one who recites a little could see, after each obligatory pray a little courtesy which is chapter, verse 255, from the second chapter of the Quran Surah Baqarah. Listen to this Hadith, which is found

00:47:17--> 00:47:21

and collected by Eben headband, and it meets the conditions of Sahaba.

00:47:22--> 00:47:25

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,

00:47:27--> 00:47:39

Whoever recites Ethel could see, immediately after each prescribed print, there'll be nothing standing between him and his entering gender, except this.

00:47:40--> 00:47:42

What lays between you

00:47:43--> 00:48:07

and Jenna is death. So you owe it to yourself to read a little kursi What's it going to take 30 seconds of your time, after eight Salah you can be guaranteed for yourself everlasting happiness and that is true happiness. The Happy one is the one whom if Allah azza wa jal

00:48:09--> 00:48:14

if Allah this distance for him to die,

00:48:15--> 00:48:17

and his last words are

00:48:18--> 00:48:20

in a llama.

00:48:21--> 00:48:27

That is the happy one. The one who's able to say upon dying Illa Illa Allah.

00:48:28--> 00:48:41

There is no deity no God worthy of worship except Allah. That is the happy one. If you're able to say that, that's a very good sign because Allah gave granted you that ability to say.

00:48:44--> 00:48:58

And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he said, Men can Yurok Allah Amina Daniela Illa Illa Allah, the halogen, whoever's parting words from this dunya from this world

00:48:59--> 00:49:01

Illa Illa Allah who encijan

00:49:02--> 00:49:04

so don't you think that person is going to be happy?

00:49:06--> 00:49:07

The Happy one

00:49:08--> 00:49:19

is the one who when he dies, people speak positively about him. That person is a happy person. One day,

00:49:20--> 00:49:21

a funeral procession

00:49:23--> 00:49:30

went by the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was he was with the companions and the people they started

00:49:31--> 00:49:50

to say some good things about it. Good things about that funeral about that person who is deceased. And the prophet SAW the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he said what Shabbat which means it deserves it. And then another funeral procession went by when when passed when by

00:49:51--> 00:49:59

and the people started saying bad things about that person, that deceased person. He said whatever but he said it deserves it. So

00:50:00--> 00:50:16

The Companions, you know, as they are, they question things they said, you know, this funeral procession went past and you said it deserves it and this other one went past he deserved. It deserves it. What did you mean? jasola? What do you mean by that? He said the first one.

00:50:17--> 00:50:23

You said good things about it. And so it deserves to go to Jenna deserves to go to Paradise.

00:50:24--> 00:50:29

He said the second one, you said very bad things about that person. So that person

00:50:31--> 00:50:46

obviously through his action deserves to go to the hellfire. He said at the end of all of this, you are a laws witnesses on his Earth. You are allowed as witnesses. And Tom Shahada, Allah He as

00:50:49--> 00:50:50

you can see,

00:50:51--> 00:51:03

it's very evident sometimes who are the ones who are sincere and the truthful ones from the ones who are con artists, or who are deceptive or who are the fake ones, the fake ease.

00:51:04--> 00:51:14

Okay? Ask Allah azza wa jal to make us from amongst the truthful ones, and the sincere ones and the believers and those who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk and shut along with the island.

00:51:16--> 00:51:22

The Happy one mighty brothers and sisters in Islam is the one who leaves behind passive actions

00:51:24--> 00:51:27

that are accumulating for him rewards while he's in the grave.

00:51:29--> 00:51:46

In Sahih, Muslim, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, when the son of Adam dies, his actions come to an end except for three things. So when you die, your action cease to benefit you except for three things that you left behind.

00:51:47--> 00:52:05

And he mentioned sadaqa jariya, a, an ongoing or a continuous charity. So you contributed towards the building of a Masjid or an institute that helps people you will reap up the rewards for as long as that Institute is there, whilst you were in the grave

00:52:06--> 00:52:15

knowledge which can which gives benefit if you leave behind knowledge that will benefit you, in the hereafter that will benefit you and

00:52:16--> 00:52:19

allow you to have a net and rewards even while you were in the grave.

00:52:22--> 00:52:33

And a pious child who prays for him. So this is why it's very important to bring up our children, bring them up giving them a good Islamic upbringing,

00:52:34--> 00:52:36

when they have a good Islamic upbringing,

00:52:37--> 00:52:45

okay, they will make it for you. And they will remember you there was a hadith that mentions that on the Day of Judgment,

00:52:46--> 00:53:25

I father will be in a lofty position in general high position in general. And he will question this and he will say I didn't do much to deserve this position. And it will be said to him, you had a pious child that was making do I that was supplicating for you. And this is what earn to your high position. It's up to you, the more you invest in your children, and you bring them up to be good Muslims, the more they're going to remember you when you pass on. So guess what? It's a win win situation. You both win. Invest in your children, it's worth

00:53:27--> 00:53:31

you find true happiness inshallah huhtala. Once you are in your very grave,

00:53:33--> 00:53:55

the happy one is the one is the one who dies. And he answers the grave. And he's able to answer the three questions that he will be asked by Moncure and Nikita the two questioning angels who come and ask you those three questions. The Happy one is the one who's able to say and only Allah will allow them to say this. A love warabi

00:53:56--> 00:53:57

Allah is my Lord.

00:53:59--> 00:54:02

Islam is my Deen Islam is my religion.

00:54:04--> 00:54:08

And Mohammed, peace be upon him. Prophet Mohammed is my messenger.

00:54:10--> 00:54:14

That is when they ask the questions Who was your Lord and what is your religion and who was your prophet?

00:54:16--> 00:54:27

And then this person will be happy because he will have furnishings from gender in his grave, and he will wish that the day of judgment will come about out of yearning to meet up with Allah azza wa jal,

00:54:28--> 00:54:43

the happy one. On the day of judgment, my dear brothers and sisters in Islam is the is the one who will be under the shade of Allah azza wa jal when there'll be no other shade except for Allah subhana wa either shade,

00:54:44--> 00:54:49

the shade of Allah throne, and in the Hadith found them Bihari and Muslim.

00:54:50--> 00:54:59

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam if you want to be amongst those people in the shade, be amongst the seven people. He said there there are

00:55:00--> 00:55:27

There are seven, whom Allah will shade any shade on the day when there is no shade except for shade number one is adjust ruler, adjust leader. Number two, a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah azza wa jal, so grew up worshipping Allah from a young age. Number three, a person whose heart is attached to the massage to the mosques, whose heart is attached to pray. Looking forward to prayer. Number

00:55:28--> 00:55:47

Number four, to people who love each other for Allah sake meeting for that and putting upon that, that you love somebody purely for the sake of Allah not for any other, any other reason and number five, a man who is called by a woman of beauty and position for illegal relations.

00:55:49--> 00:55:51

And he says to her, I fear Allah,

00:55:52--> 00:55:54

He will be under the shade of Allah switcher.

00:55:56--> 00:55:57

The shade of Allah stone.

00:55:58--> 00:56:25

And then number six, who gives him charity and hides it such that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given in charity. So the more you can conceal your charity, This is my beloved to Allah panel Tyler and a man who remembered Allah in private. So his eyes shed tease. You remember Allah, you read the Quran, you read some Hadith, you remember him and you and you shed tears and you cry and you weep.

00:56:26--> 00:56:28

Because of that Allah will place you under the shade.

00:56:30--> 00:56:39

So make an effort to be amongst one of these 70 charleville to highlight so that you can be under the shade of Allah azza wa jal.

00:56:40--> 00:56:44

The truly happy when my dear brothers and sisters in Islam is the one who will antigen

00:56:46--> 00:56:49

even if he's the last person to enter China.

00:56:50--> 00:56:55

Even if he is the last person to enter Jannah He is the one who will truly be happy.

00:56:58--> 00:57:12

And this is how true happiness is achieved. And once you taste it, once you taste it, you will never want to change or revert back to your former wrong ways and nobody will be able to take it away from you.

00:57:13--> 00:57:17

Set yourself a lot of realistic goals brothers and sisters in a stem.

00:57:18--> 00:57:20

Set yourself some goals.

00:57:21--> 00:57:27

stop procrastinating and give all those excuses black eyes

00:57:29--> 00:57:33

and start to work towards your effort if you haven't already started.

00:57:34--> 00:57:47

It really is all about the effort. In this life, there is sometimes happiness and sometimes there's misery in here after is going to be ultimately

00:57:48--> 00:57:59

complete and utter happiness or complete and utter and perpetual. devastation and loss and punishment. But it's whilst you're still breathing right now.

00:58:01--> 00:58:06

It's It's your call. It's your decision. Nobody else can make that decision for you.

00:58:07--> 00:58:17

It's time for you to make a change in sha Allah to Allah and to a change that will make you happier in this life and in the Hereafter.

00:58:18--> 00:58:24

ask Allah azza wa jal to give us the strength to make us

00:58:25--> 00:58:40

translate and to put into reality, the theory that we have just gone through and we ask Allah azza wa jal to make us amongst the happy happy ones in this life, and the happy ones from the here after in the Hereafter, and to

00:58:41--> 00:58:57

make us and to save us from us, those who will be miserable in this life, or miserable in the Hereafter, or miserable in both hola hota Allah Allah sallallahu wasallam without a carabiner Mohamed Salah monokuma Rahmatullah warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

00:59:00--> 00:59:02

shallows, Allah we will

00:59:03--> 00:59:04

take some questions now.

00:59:06--> 00:59:09

I hope you're going to go easy on me after a break
