The speakers discuss the importance of materialism and the need for a creator to achieve the "we" in religion. They emphasize the importance of worship and fulfilling one's actions in achieving spiritual certainty. The ultimate reality of life is that we will be raised up, make barefoot, and be called for water. The speakers also touch on the importance of showing one's true accomplishments and the need for forgiveness and remorse for sin.

00:00:10--> 00:00:12

It must be many times

00:00:14--> 00:00:16

on many occasions in our life,

00:00:19--> 00:00:21

the we have pondered over this question

00:00:24--> 00:00:26

and we have thought about this question

00:00:27--> 00:00:28

Why are we here?

00:00:30--> 00:00:32

What is the purpose of life?

00:00:34--> 00:00:36

What is it all for?

00:00:37--> 00:00:38

What is the reason for

00:00:44--> 00:00:45

and in some way or another way

00:00:47--> 00:00:50

we find many different religions.

00:00:52--> 00:00:54

Many different philosophies

00:00:55--> 00:00:59

have tried to provide answers

00:01:02--> 00:01:04

to these fundamental questions.

00:01:07--> 00:01:09

We live in a society,

00:01:10--> 00:01:12

the Western society

00:01:15--> 00:01:16

that in reality

00:01:17--> 00:01:20

is first and foremost and essentially

00:01:23--> 00:01:29

an atheistic or if not atheistic, certainly secularist society.

00:01:33--> 00:01:36

They're in advocates and propagates

00:01:38--> 00:01:41

the ideology of materialism.

00:01:42--> 00:01:45

And this materialistic ideology

00:01:46--> 00:01:48

is backed by

00:01:50--> 00:01:53

scientific theories.

00:01:55--> 00:01:56

And in particular,

00:01:57--> 00:02:00

the theory of evolution.

00:02:02--> 00:02:04

The theory of evolution

00:02:07--> 00:02:08

tells us

00:02:10--> 00:02:13

that, we have our origin,

00:02:15--> 00:02:16

in and from

00:02:19--> 00:02:22

a common ancestor with the apes.

00:02:25--> 00:02:30

And this primary itself has evolved from other creatures,

00:02:31--> 00:02:34

which in the Far, far distant past,

00:02:35--> 00:02:39

everything had evolved from this organic soup.

00:02:43--> 00:03:02

And this is what they use to back them materialistic philosophy, the man according to them, that the human being according to this ideology, is in fact, no more than an animal, an advanced animal, but nonetheless, an animal.

00:03:03--> 00:03:07

And everything else is explained in the context of that.

00:03:09--> 00:03:13

Similarly, according to them, the universe itself

00:03:16--> 00:03:20

is a product of some random events.

00:03:23--> 00:03:31

I think if the sisters would like to sit down and look just as a, as a place up there on top, so maybe you could find your way up there might be more comfortable

00:03:34--> 00:03:41

that it is a product of random events. So my brothers and my sisters, what

00:03:42--> 00:03:58

is being taught to us at the moment in reality is this idea that in reality, there is no God, there is no need for a god, there is no Day of Judgment, there is no Hellfire, there is no paradise, that we in fact, in reality, our mere

00:03:59--> 00:04:02

our whole existence is a coincidence.

00:04:05--> 00:04:13

And in reality, the life has no real purpose or no real meaning, except the purpose and the meaning that you happen to want to get it.

00:04:15--> 00:04:22

Which you eat, you drink, you sleep, you seek shelter, you live you die.

00:04:23--> 00:04:23

That's it.

00:04:28--> 00:04:31

So this is one philosophy, one ideology.

00:04:37--> 00:04:42

And atheism, perhaps for the first time in human history.

00:04:43--> 00:04:50

atheism, for perhaps the first time in human history, has actually become

00:04:52--> 00:04:55

what we could describe as a world belief system.

00:04:57--> 00:04:59

Because in the past, we found

00:05:00--> 00:05:10

To some degree or another degree, people have always believed in the existence of a creator, or a creating be.

00:05:12--> 00:05:14

And the pure atheism

00:05:15--> 00:05:16

was something

00:05:18--> 00:05:18

very rare.

00:05:23--> 00:05:48

And this is what we need to talk about today. What we have to develop upon today and discuss today and bring up today is basically two concepts, the atheistic ideology. And the other idea is the concept, or the understanding that there is a God, there is a creator, that the universe that life does have a special purpose.

00:05:51--> 00:05:58

You have within the belief systems that believe in the existence of God, there is also a great difference.

00:06:00--> 00:06:03

And we hope that we'll be able to examine some of these differences,

00:06:04--> 00:06:07

and draw some conclusions from all of this.

00:06:10--> 00:06:13

So first of all, I would like to examine

00:06:15--> 00:06:17

the arguments

00:06:19--> 00:06:22

against and the arguments for

00:06:24--> 00:06:35

the belief in the Creator. Why? Because this is going to be fundamental to explaining the reason and the purpose

00:06:37--> 00:06:38

of our existence.

00:06:42--> 00:06:44

Strangely enough,

00:06:46--> 00:06:51

although the atheist claims to take the ground

00:06:53--> 00:06:54

of rationality,

00:06:56--> 00:06:57

of science,

00:06:59--> 00:07:07

or a position where there is a lack of prejudice, whereas the believer is supposed to have prejudice,

00:07:09--> 00:07:20

we find in fact that quite often, the arguments of the atheists are emotional arguments. There are reasons for saying that there is not a God,

00:07:22--> 00:07:25

or emotional reasons, not rational reasons.

00:07:28--> 00:07:32

You often find that they bring the argument like for example, well,

00:07:33--> 00:07:34

if there is a God,

00:07:36--> 00:07:40

why there is so much suffering in the world, this is one of the arguments.

00:07:41--> 00:07:51

If there is a God, how come you have AIDS or natural disasters, and these diseases, and how come some people are crippled and some people are born blind.

00:07:53--> 00:07:56

It doesn't seem to be such a perfect world to me.

00:07:59--> 00:08:03

Rather, it seems to be a product of chaos and confusion.

00:08:04--> 00:08:05

This is what they claim.

00:08:08--> 00:08:16

However, we will see the futility of these claims. And we will examine why these claims are, in fact, emotional arguments, not rational ones.

00:08:19--> 00:08:23

And will be we intend to do first and foremost is prove to you

00:08:24--> 00:08:46

that there must be a god, there must be a creed, in fact, that the only possible rational position that can be taken by a human being is that this universe and this world must have a creator. And this creator must be one God, there cannot be more than one such creator.

00:08:50--> 00:08:56

And we know this, basically, through two different ways.

00:08:58--> 00:09:08

One way is the instinctive way. And the second is the means that we use through reason, or intelligence, or we could call

00:09:09--> 00:09:10

an Arabic.

00:09:12--> 00:09:18

And let us examine the arguments based upon the intelligence.

00:09:20--> 00:09:22

And it's a very simple argument.

00:09:23--> 00:09:25

The argument is propounded in the court.

00:09:27--> 00:09:28

And it goes like this

00:09:32--> 00:09:35

was the universe and everything in it.

00:09:37--> 00:09:39

Was it did it come from nothing?

00:09:41--> 00:09:48

Did it come from nothing? This is the first question the Quran asks. They come from nothing.

00:09:51--> 00:09:52

Now let's examine it.

00:09:53--> 00:09:58

Do we ever experience something coming from nothing?

00:10:00--> 00:10:23

In fact, in reality, in the totality of human experience, it will be very hard to find anyone being able to support this idea that something comes from nothing, let alone a universe, which is working and regulated according to such perfect laws and such perfect systems.

00:10:25--> 00:10:27

So this is not an alternative.

00:10:29--> 00:10:32

The second possibility is, did it create itself?

00:10:36--> 00:10:48

Did it create itself? Can something create itself couldn't have brought itself into existence? If it didn't exist beforehand? How can you report itself into existence?

00:10:54--> 00:10:55

Or are you the creators of it?

00:10:57--> 00:11:11

How can something within the creation be the creator of it? Since since that thing itself is part of the creation, it cannot itself needs a creator human beings themselves need a creator?

00:11:14--> 00:11:18

So what are the options? What is left? For the rational mind?

00:11:22--> 00:11:28

Some of the arguments that people bring up well, okay, but you know, where is this God show me, I can't see God.

00:11:30--> 00:11:33

I can't see. But why should I believe in something I can't see.

00:11:34--> 00:11:47

But it's amazing, of course, that the same people believe in a whole range of things which they can't see, they can't see the air, they believe in it. They can't see atoms and neutrons and electrons, yet they believe in them.

00:11:50--> 00:11:53

They can't see their minds, yet they believe in it.

00:11:58--> 00:12:05

In fact, there's a whole department of science of historical science called archaeology.

00:12:09--> 00:12:16

What an archaeologist does, is an archaeologist would go perhaps to the middle of a desert,

00:12:18--> 00:12:24

where there are no trees, and there is no water. And this archaeologists will dig in the sand.

00:12:25--> 00:12:30

And then his archaeologists will come across a piece of poetry.

00:12:32--> 00:12:38

And from this single piece of pottery, this archaeologists will able to be able to tell you

00:12:42--> 00:13:24

the state of knowledge, the technological ability, of the people who produce this piece of poetry, he'll be able to tell you that they must have been able to build ovens, and they must have had such and such amount of access to wood and fuel or charcoal, because in order to heat the ovens out at such and such temperature to produce and to be able to bake the clay at this such and such temperature, they must have had this level of knowledge and technology. And he will look at the dyes and the writing. And you'll be able to tell you so many things about the civilization and the people that produced that piece of pottery without even seeing one of those people.

00:13:26--> 00:13:47

He didn't see the making, he didn't see the building. He didn't see the work in the pottery factories. But to him the existence of this piece of poetry is absolute conclusive proof of the existence of the people who made it and also of the level of their technological ability and skill.

00:13:49--> 00:13:54

In the same way, anybody who observes

00:13:56--> 00:13:57

the laws,

00:13:59--> 00:14:01

the systemising

00:14:03--> 00:14:09

of the universe and the world in which we live, does not have to see the creator to know There must be a creator.

00:14:13--> 00:14:16

The fact that we find the universe

00:14:17--> 00:14:19

and our world and ourselves.

00:14:22--> 00:14:25

Working according to such perfect

00:14:28--> 00:14:29

00:14:30--> 00:14:34

is the proof of the existence of the one who made those rules.

00:14:38--> 00:14:59

Because all of the creation, the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth, the planets, ourselves, the animals, all of them have been of a creator, we all have a need. And that need is that we need some something to have organized all of this. Since it is not possible. It is not possible.

00:15:00--> 00:15:13

It is far removed from all the realms of probability that such order could have been a product of chance and coincidence, it is not a possibility, it is not a mathematical possibility.

00:15:15--> 00:15:19

Evolution is mathematically impossible.

00:15:22--> 00:15:25

A Swiss mathematician who Charles Eugene died,

00:15:26--> 00:15:36

he calculated the probability of one single protein molecule as having come into existence through chance.

00:15:39--> 00:15:46

Probability was 10 to the power of 265.

00:15:49--> 00:16:06

And the amount of matter that was needed would have been millions of times bigger than the known universe. And the amount of time that it would have taken would have been 10 to the power of 160 times the length of the existence of the entire universe as we know it.

00:16:08--> 00:16:30

And basically statistics that it is the people who deal with statistics, they they have said that anything that is one to the power of 101 to 100, that is so improbable they consider it impossible. So how about 10 to the power of 265, that's 10 with 265 zeros of

00:16:32--> 00:16:49

one protein molecule. How about a child that has what 16 million was a 16 billion protein molecules, every single one of them organized to produce lungs, And eyes and ears and a brain and a heart and kidneys,

00:16:51--> 00:16:56

and all other parts and all organs, all of them functioning together in perfection.

00:16:59--> 00:17:04

It is not possible that this could have been a product of chance and coincidence.

00:17:08--> 00:17:22

And if we look at the universe and the world around us, again, we'll find that to say that this is a product of chance and coincidence is just unbelievable. There are so many things. So many of the laws of physics,

00:17:24--> 00:17:28

that if they were slightly different,

00:17:29--> 00:17:33

if they were slightly bit different life could not exist.

00:17:35--> 00:17:40

For example, take the planet upon which we are on the planet Earth. If the planet

00:17:43--> 00:17:47

was closer to the sun, if it was much closer to the sun,

00:17:49--> 00:17:58

or even slightly close to the sun, it will be too hot. For life to exist, it was too far it will be too cold for life to exist.

00:18:01--> 00:18:14

These are just happens to be going around the sun at the right speed. Gentlemen remember what it is but it happens to be going around at the right speed. If it was any faster,

00:18:15--> 00:18:21

or any faster it would fly off into space. If it was going any slower, it will be sucked in and burnt out by the sun.

00:18:27--> 00:18:43

The Earth rotates on its axis once every 24 hours. Imagine if the earth rotated on its axis. once every five months, one surface of the Earth would become super heated and the other surface will become super cold and life would not be able to exist.

00:18:44--> 00:19:00

We have a gas in our atmosphere, the ozone layer, which happens to be able to filter out all the harmful effects of the sun's radiation. If that guess was not there, everything would be destroyed on this planet.

00:19:03--> 00:19:13

The composition of the gases of atmosphere just happen to be of the right quantity of nitrogen and oxygen and carbon dioxide.

00:19:15--> 00:19:35

If it was pure oxygen, life depends on oxygen. But if it was pure oxygen, pure oxygen is poisonous to life, it must be mixed with nitrogen. There also has to be carbon dioxide because plants need to breathe in carbon dioxide in order to exist. If these guys were not there, life would not exist.

00:19:38--> 00:19:44

So is it possible that these things are a product of some mere random event?

00:19:46--> 00:19:48

There was one great scholar of Islam.

00:19:50--> 00:19:53

He was once invited to a debate

00:19:54--> 00:19:59

by some atheists and he accepted but he said to them, Look, I will debate you

00:20:01--> 00:20:02

but not right now.

00:20:03--> 00:20:09

I will debate you after the sun is set on the far side of such and such River.

00:20:12--> 00:20:13

We can one hour

00:20:15--> 00:20:18

the waited two hours. And eventually

00:20:19--> 00:20:21

the this Muslim scholar Iran,

00:20:22--> 00:20:29

they started saying to him, what sort of thing is this? You're supposed to be a Muslim, you're supposed to be on time.

00:20:30--> 00:20:41

What sort of behavior is this? So the scholar said, Oh, I didn't intend to be here late. But what happened was, when I came to the river, I couldn't find any way to cross.

00:20:43--> 00:21:21

I walked up the river, and I walked down the river, and I couldn't find any ferryboat to cross I couldn't find any bridge. So I sat down and thought, What am I going to do. And then right in front of my eyes, this tree fell down and divided itself up into place, and nails popped out from the ground. And lo and behold, in front of my eyes, this bowl was formed it put yourself in the river, I stood in it, and it took me across. And the atheist said, you don't expect us to believe a stupid story like that. And if the scholar said, why not, you want me to believe something even more stupid, that the heavens and the earth and that all the creatures in it are a product of some random

00:21:21--> 00:21:22

00:21:27--> 00:21:28

So thus, he defeated them

00:21:30--> 00:21:32

and humiliated them.

00:21:33--> 00:21:51

And this is the supreme reasonable position, that in reality, reason does not allow the human being to believe anything else. The only thing they will say is Oh, but you have to believe this, because we're human beings. We're human beings. So we have to think like that.

00:21:53--> 00:21:55

Yes, fair enough.

00:21:57--> 00:21:59

Don't be a donkey or a rock if you want to.

00:22:01--> 00:22:11

We are human beings. If you try and convince yourself that it's anything else, you will never be able to be happy, you will never really believe it. Because as a human being you can't.

00:22:15--> 00:22:21

So what are their arguments? Oh, they can't be a God, because there's so much more and there's so much suffering.

00:22:23--> 00:22:27

How about the disabled people? How about this? How about that? Now, the point is this.

00:22:28--> 00:22:29

The point is this.

00:22:31--> 00:22:34

That that doesn't prove that there's not a God.

00:22:35--> 00:22:38

That doesn't prove that there is not a god.

00:22:40--> 00:22:45

All it says is that the idea that you have about God is probably the wrong one.

00:22:47--> 00:22:56

And most of the time, when I'm involved with discussions with people on this issue, we find that they have, they think that

00:22:57--> 00:23:14

what I am talking about is Christianity. So they argue with me, as they used to argue with a Christian, because Christianity teaches, and here when I say Christianity teaches, I'm not referring to the individual interpretations of some Christians, which may differ from what I'm saying.

00:23:16--> 00:23:29

But broad based, Christianity teaches, and certainly the Bible says that God is love. It says God is love. And therefore it becomes a problem.

00:23:31--> 00:23:44

When the Christian is confronted by the question of the atheist, will it God is love, like you claim? How come they so much disease and how come there is so much suffering and how much how come there is so much pain?

00:23:46--> 00:23:50

And in this regard, the atheist has a genuine complaint.

00:23:51--> 00:23:55

Because this is not compatible. One is not compatible with the other.

00:23:58--> 00:24:00

One is not compatible with the other.

00:24:05--> 00:24:15

But I say no, then the creation of a lot is perfect. And Allah the Creator, he is perfect, and his creation is perfect.

00:24:16--> 00:24:21

And how do we explain that? How do we as Muslims explain

00:24:22--> 00:24:25

that Allah is perfect and his creation is perfect?

00:24:29--> 00:24:30

We explained that

00:24:32--> 00:24:42

by saying that the creation is not perfect, in the sense that Allah is perfect. Allah is perfect in the absolute sense.

00:24:43--> 00:24:49

He is free from all imperfections. He is the all knowing the old wise, the just

00:24:50--> 00:24:52

the Merciful, the loving

00:24:55--> 00:24:57

and he is also the swift and punishment.

00:25:01--> 00:25:19

And he is when he polishes it is perfect. His justice is perfect. His knowledge is perfect. The creation is not perfect in that sense. No, when we say the creation is perfect, we mean that the creation is perfect at doing what God has created it for.

00:25:21--> 00:25:24

Its perfect at fulfilling its purpose.

00:25:26--> 00:25:52

So therefore, we say to the atheist know, what you have misunderstood is the purpose of life. When you complain about death and suffering and earthquakes are people who are born disabled, and blind and these types of things, it doesn't prove there's not a god. All it shows is that you have failed to comprehend the purpose for which God has created the world and the universe.

00:25:54--> 00:26:03

It doesn't deny the reality of a creator's existence. It just shows that you haven't understood the reason for which he created everything.

00:26:07--> 00:26:08

So Islam teaches

00:26:10--> 00:26:12

that there is a purpose behind this creation.

00:26:15--> 00:26:17

Reason tells us there must be a creed.

00:26:19--> 00:26:22

I didn't mention the instinctive proof perhaps we'll mention that later.

00:26:24--> 00:26:29

But how does Islam tell us and what is Islam tell us is the purpose of the creation.

00:26:32--> 00:26:36

The reality is, that life is a test.

00:26:38--> 00:26:40

Life is a test.

00:26:42--> 00:26:47

This is the purpose of the creation. This is the human being.

00:26:48--> 00:26:52

The former human being, life is the test.

00:26:54--> 00:26:59

Therefore the world is perfect at being a testing ground for the human being.

00:27:00--> 00:27:10

Because within the world is good and evil, happiness and unhappiness, beauty and ugliness, right and wrong.

00:27:12--> 00:27:13

darkness and light.

00:27:14--> 00:27:25

How will you test goodness? If there is no evil? How will you know goodness? If there is no evil? How will you know booth beauty is no audience.

00:27:26--> 00:27:28

How will you know right if there is no room

00:27:31--> 00:27:33

How will you know truth if there is no food.

00:27:35--> 00:27:49

So life is a test. And that is why we find within the world within the universe. We find it the way it is we find there is death, there is disease, there is poverty, there is wealth,

00:27:50--> 00:27:52

there is illness, there is health,

00:27:55--> 00:28:04

etc, etc, etc. Because this is the means through which Allah subhanho wa Taala is testing his slaves.

00:28:07--> 00:28:17

And it is also the means through which by which we can learn the truth and the reality of the creator's existence.

00:28:19--> 00:28:30

The universe is like a sign of book of science, leading us to the conclusion of the reality of the creator's existence.

00:28:33--> 00:28:42

And also some other things that we can understand about God through the universe and observing the universe.

00:28:45--> 00:28:47

We know there must be one good

00:28:48--> 00:28:50

and this is a simple

00:28:51--> 00:28:52

conclusion that we come to.

00:28:54--> 00:28:57

It is simple in two regards. First of all,

00:28:58--> 00:29:18

such organization could not possibly be the product of two creators. If there were two such creators, as the ad mentions, they would have fought with each other and each one would have gone off with what he created, and you will never have been able to find such a magnificently constructed universe.

00:29:20--> 00:29:40

The second is that if we examine the reasoning process that we use before, and we said that everything in the universe has a need, the need that everything in the universe has is the need for something, someone to organize it and to sustain it and to maintain it.

00:29:44--> 00:29:58

And therefore we can conclude that the one who organized and created and brought into existence the universe cannot be the same as the universe and of the same nature as the universe.

00:30:00--> 00:30:07

The Creator was of the same nature as the creation, then the creator would need a creator.

00:30:09--> 00:30:20

And then that creator would also need a creator. But we are looking for the one who is the originator of all of these things. So that creator must be infinite, that creator must be self sufficient.

00:30:22--> 00:30:24

That is why it is not possible.

00:30:26--> 00:30:28

And it is not reasonable.

00:30:30--> 00:30:51

And it is an open invitation for any atheist to say that a man is God, or God became a man, because it simply contradicts everything that the universe tells us about God. Everything that our reason tells us about God. Indeed, everything in reality, that true Scripture tells us about God.

00:30:54--> 00:30:55

That God is the infinite.

00:30:57--> 00:30:58

Man is finite.

00:30:59--> 00:31:22

God is the eternal man is temporary. God is unseen, words matters visible. God is self sufficient, God does not need to eat or drink or breathe, he doesn't need love, he doesn't need even worship, he is self sufficient, whereas the human being the creatures are dependent, they need food they need,

00:31:25--> 00:31:31

the very atoms of their bodies are kept together through the power of the Creator.

00:31:33--> 00:31:41

So the creation cannot be the creator and the creator cannot be the creation, because he would deny the reality of his existence.

00:31:45--> 00:31:46

So God cannot be a man

00:31:48--> 00:31:56

of any religion or ideology or philosophy that tells you such and such man is God, then it must be false.

00:31:58--> 00:32:00

It must be false.

00:32:04--> 00:32:06

So why therefore,

00:32:07--> 00:32:22

and this now we have to talk about and if you haven't understood already, we are talking primarily not only but primarily about Christianity, because Christianity is a religion now that claims to believe in God.

00:32:24--> 00:32:29

In reality, we find that Christianity in reality

00:32:31--> 00:32:38

poses more questions, and causes more questions to be asked and answers it provides.

00:32:41--> 00:32:55

And one of the questions that I have found until today, no Christian has been able to give me an answer is a simple question. Why did God allow a world in which there was sin?

00:32:57--> 00:33:08

Didn't God have the power to create the human beings and put them in paradise forever? If you want to do anything God as you claim is love.

00:33:09--> 00:33:13

The Why did he allow the world to be full of suffering?

00:33:15--> 00:33:15

00:33:19--> 00:33:23

And fundamentally, we find the Christian finds it very difficult to answer these questions.

00:33:25--> 00:33:32

Because it conflicts with their ideology and their theology. There's a problem that

00:33:35--> 00:33:39

but Islam we find as the most beautiful answer to this.

00:33:42--> 00:33:44

Islam has the most beautiful answer to this.

00:33:46--> 00:34:00

Since Christianity tells us that God, so they say, God is so righteous, he cannot look upon the sin of man, God is so righteous, he can look upon the sin of man.

00:34:01--> 00:34:14

So and now we do if you actually think about it, this becomes next to perhaps even absurd, that because God could not live upon the sin of man, he needs to do come down as a man and die on the cross.

00:34:17--> 00:34:22

Now, how what sort of sense that is supposed to make only Allah knows best?

00:34:27--> 00:34:45

But how are we supposed to seek forgiveness from God? Why is their sin? How come God allows him to take place? But Islam gives us the answer. Because the existence of sin allows us to understand something about the reality of God.

00:34:46--> 00:34:50

And this the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam up

00:34:52--> 00:34:53

he outlined this,

00:34:54--> 00:34:55

when he said

00:34:56--> 00:34:59

that if you did not sin and repent

00:35:00--> 00:35:01

from your sins,

00:35:02--> 00:35:11

then Allah would remove you, Allah would remove you and he would bring another people who sinned, and who repented for lessons.

00:35:13--> 00:35:13

00:35:15--> 00:35:17

Because God created us.

00:35:19--> 00:35:56

He created us, and He made us with a nature that is natural that we will be inclined to do since. And he put us in a world that it will be unavoidable that we would incline towards since then it is only through sinning and disobeying God, and then turning to God and asking his forgiveness and repenting for our sins, that we learn the reality that Allah is a fool or Rahim that he is the Forgiving, and he is the most

00:36:01--> 00:36:09

since exists, and we sin, that is the reality, but through sinning and repenting for our sins,

00:36:10--> 00:36:15

we learn that Allah, that we have a Lord, we have a creator,

00:36:16--> 00:36:31

who forgives. And we learn and we know that we have a creator, who punish us for our sins, and forgives us when we make repentance to him. And thus we learn about the mercy and forgiveness of Allah.

00:36:33--> 00:36:34

This is the reality.

00:36:37--> 00:36:42

So we find that the end is teaching us the purpose of life.

00:36:45--> 00:36:50

In fact, before I became a Muslim, about 10, or 11 years ago,

00:36:54--> 00:37:05

I was brought up in a Roman Catholic monastery. My mother was originally from Poland, and she wanted me to be brought up a Catholic.

00:37:06--> 00:37:10

I was brought up in a Catholic, Roman Catholic, monastic school or boarding school,

00:37:12--> 00:37:13

where we studied the Bible.

00:37:16--> 00:37:18

But for several different reasons,

00:37:20--> 00:37:23

I could not accept what I was being told that

00:37:25--> 00:37:30

I could not accept the claim that they said, Mary is the mother of God.

00:37:31--> 00:37:42

Because how could it be that the one who has no beginning and no end, who is the eternal, self sufficient creator, could have been born of a woman.

00:37:45--> 00:37:50

And if Mary was the mother of God, then she must be a greater God than God.

00:37:52--> 00:37:55

And there were many other reasons that I could not accept what I was being taught.

00:37:57--> 00:38:03

And all the reasons why I could not accept the materialistic values

00:38:04--> 00:38:07

that I was being raised upon in my family.

00:38:10--> 00:38:14

And I will say that I have read and I had read

00:38:15--> 00:38:19

about perhaps nearly every single religion,

00:38:20--> 00:38:22

I practice Buddhism.

00:38:23--> 00:38:25

I studied Hinduism.

00:38:27--> 00:38:31

I read books about philosophy, psychology,

00:38:33--> 00:38:36

and many different books about many different religions.

00:38:37--> 00:38:39

But there is only one book

00:38:40--> 00:38:42

where I found a convincing answer

00:38:44--> 00:38:45

to that question,

00:38:46--> 00:38:52

why are we here? What is the reason for our existence? What is the purpose of life?

00:38:53--> 00:38:54

I found it in the end.

00:38:56--> 00:39:00

Allah subhanho wa Taala. He says, our

00:39:01--> 00:39:08

great honor regime, Wilma Jin will insert in the

00:39:11--> 00:39:18

in this book that has been revealed by allow the Creator of the heavens in the earth

00:39:21--> 00:39:26

that was sent down to Mohammed Salah lo and he was over a period of 23 years.

00:39:30--> 00:39:40

This bill passed down to us through an unbroken chain of oral and written transmissions since the time of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam.

00:39:44--> 00:39:46

This book has told us

00:39:48--> 00:39:57

that Allah our Creator has informed us the reason for which he bought us and gave us existence

00:39:58--> 00:39:59

and if we think about it,

00:40:00--> 00:40:28

Brothers and sisters, how can we ever How can we ever possibly reach certainty about this most important of all questions? How can we ever reach certainty about this most important of all questions, unless the one who created us tells us everything else in reality you will understand is guesswork.

00:40:29--> 00:40:37

The philosophers what they have is guesswork. The materialists what they have is guesswork.

00:40:40--> 00:40:42

The people who meditate

00:40:44--> 00:40:48

and the mystics have nothing except guesswork.

00:40:51--> 00:40:52

There is no certainty.

00:40:53--> 00:41:12

But there is this there is certainty that we know what the when the one who gave us existence and bought us into existence tells us that this is the reason for which he created us, then we know this is the reason for which we exist. So let me translate those words to Jin Nawaz.

00:41:16--> 00:41:22

That Allah is saying that he has not created the jinn.

00:41:24--> 00:41:40

And we'll leave them aside for the moment. And the it's the mankind the human being, the human being, Allah has not created the human but human being except the we should choose to worship Him.

00:41:42--> 00:41:45

Now many people might say that it,

00:41:46--> 00:42:18

you know, is to worship God is that what is the purpose of life. And that might be an understandable reaction from someone who is born out in the West with a very narrow concept of worship. To them, or to many people in the West, we have been given this idea that worship is going to the church on Sunday, going to the mosque on Friday, you know, going to the synagogue on Saturday, you know, celebrating Christmas, or the two E's or whatever it is, and a few rituals and a few and that is worship.

00:42:20--> 00:42:23

But the term worship or ibadah

00:42:24--> 00:42:25

in Arabic,

00:42:26--> 00:42:28

is something vast.

00:42:29--> 00:42:32

Indeed, it is something all comprehensive.

00:42:33--> 00:42:35

And one of the great scholars of Islam,

00:42:37--> 00:42:42

even taymiyah he defined this word ibadah.

00:42:43--> 00:43:05

He defined define this word worship. He said that worship or this is more or less the meaning of what he said. He said that worship is everything which Allah, the creator, the God, everything which Allah loves, and approves of whether it is the beliefs,

00:43:06--> 00:43:08

the thoughts,

00:43:09--> 00:43:12

the sayings, or the actions

00:43:15--> 00:43:16

so that

00:43:17--> 00:43:40

you can either believe something that God, Allah, the creator loves, and he approves Oh, well, you can believe something other than that. If you believe what he loves, if you believe what he approves of it is worship. If you have in your mind, the thoughts that God loves and approves of it is worship. If you have other than that it is not worship.

00:43:42--> 00:43:44

If you say the words

00:43:46--> 00:43:52

and bring forth the speech that Allah loves, the creator loves and approves of it is worship.

00:43:54--> 00:43:58

If you do the actions that Allah loves and approves of it is worship.

00:44:01--> 00:44:08

So this is something old, comprehensive. And as a Jew once said to one of the companions of the Prophet Mohammed.

00:44:11--> 00:44:13

His name was Abu hurayrah.

00:44:17--> 00:44:25

Your messenger your Prophet, teaches you everything. He even tells you how to go to the zoo, how to go to the toilet?

00:44:26--> 00:44:40

And Abu hurayrah said yes. He said, Yes. He teaches us that when we go to the toilet, we don't face and we don't turn our backs towards the Qibla the direction of prayer.

00:44:42--> 00:44:48

And when we have finished we clean ourselves with either three stones or water.

00:44:50--> 00:44:59

Because as Muslims, everything in the life can be either a worship for love or something other than that

00:45:00--> 00:45:22

So the purpose of life is to make your whole life a worship for Allah. The purpose of existence, is to make sure that all your sayings and all your beliefs and all your thoughts and all your actions are sayings and beliefs and thoughts and actions that are pleasing to your Lord and your Creator.

00:45:25--> 00:45:27

And that you should leave those things

00:45:28--> 00:45:30

which are displeasing to him.

00:45:31--> 00:45:38

This is the purpose of life. This is the Battle of life. This is the real jihad, you hear this word jihad.

00:45:39--> 00:45:51

But really, Jihad means to struggle with the utmost of your ability. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, the best jihad is the Jihad you make against yourself.

00:45:53--> 00:46:08

This is the struggle of life, to make yourself a worshiper alone, and to leave and abandon the worship of the false gods. Those things that we put our faith and our hope and our trust in

00:46:09--> 00:46:27

those things like money, perhaps fame, fortune, our desires, and our passions, other human beings, even prophets and saints, we put our faith and our trust and our hope in them, whereas in reality, we should direct all our worship to the creator alone.

00:46:30--> 00:47:08

But how do we know? How do we know how to worship Allah? How do we know how to worship this God? Who is most worthy and deserving of it? Do we guess? Do we guess? Do we think for ourselves? Do we imagine for ourselves, well, maybe God went like this and maybe go with like that, and maybe we'll do it like this, maybe we'll do it like that. And All praise is due to Allah. He didn't leave us in the state of confusion, that God put within our hearts and our souls, the drive, to be his worshipers. The inclination to be his worshipers.

00:47:10--> 00:47:29

And just like, he gave us the inclination, the feeling of hunger, he gave us food to satisfy our hunger. He gave us the feeling of thirst, he gave a strict to quench our thirst. He gave us the feeling of love and affection, and he gave us wives and husbands companions.

00:47:31--> 00:47:35

To satisfy that urge for love and companionship.

00:47:37--> 00:48:06

similarity of law gave us the drive, to be worshipers, to be his worshipers. And he did not leave us without the means to satisfy that desire. That is why he said prophets. That is why he sent messengers. That's why he sent Abraham and Noah, and Moses and Jacob, and Jesus and Mohammed, may God's peace and blessings be upon His messengers,

00:48:08--> 00:48:18

whom we believe as Muslims came with the same message, the same religion, the same fundamental message, though we should direct our worship

00:48:19--> 00:48:28

in all aspects of our lives, to allow the creator alone, and then we should leave the worship of the false gods.

00:48:29--> 00:48:41

And they came to teach us how to worship God. They came to teach us, what are the beliefs? What are the things that God wants us to believe about him?

00:48:43--> 00:48:47

What is it that Allah the creator wants us to believe?

00:48:48--> 00:49:09

What are the thoughts that he likes us to have? What is the speech that he loves us to say? What are the actions that he loves us to do? And that he approves of, he didn't leave it for us to guess he sent to us. And in this day and age, the final and last messenger, he sent to us, Mohammed sewalong.

00:49:12--> 00:49:14

To teach us how to worship

00:49:15--> 00:49:16

the Creator.

00:49:20--> 00:49:31

And they also came, all of the prophets of Allah final messenger Mohammed came to warn us also, and to remind us also

00:49:32--> 00:49:34

have the ultimate reality.

00:49:35--> 00:49:39

The ultimate reality that this life is a test.

00:49:41--> 00:49:42

But there is a day

00:49:44--> 00:49:47

when we will see the results of this test.

00:49:48--> 00:50:00

There is a day that we will be raised up, making barefooted and uncircumcised. We will not have any money. We will not have anything

00:50:00--> 00:50:33

possessions, the way we'll have nothing with us except our deeds, and every single atoms we have good that we have done we will know about it and every single atoms way of evil that we have done, we will know about it. It is the day of standing, your will hear the day of reckoning the day of accounting, the day of judgment of promise day, a day that Allah has promised through all of his messages, a day that Allah has described in detail in his book,

00:50:34--> 00:51:10

a day that will turn my brothers and sisters, it will turn that hair of children gray, that a woman who is feeding her child will abandon her child, a woman who is pregnant with miscarriage from the fear and the terror of that day when mankind will run as a drunken as if they're in a drunken Riot from the fear and the terror of that day, when the sun will be both close to our heads and people will be up to some of them in their ankles, some to their knees, some to their waist, some to their and some bridled in sweat.

00:51:12--> 00:51:23

From a fear of that day, when mankind will be assembled in groups, and they will be bought and all of us You and me will be bought forth for judgment.

00:51:25--> 00:51:26

And there is the hellfire.

00:51:27--> 00:51:36

The Hellfire that is a real physical place that has all ready been created and it all ready exists.

00:51:38--> 00:51:48

Our cell with his messenger Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam both in the court and and in the prophetic sayings descriptions of this place.

00:51:49--> 00:51:56

The how its inhabitants, their skins will be burned and recreated and rebirth,

00:51:57--> 00:52:10

how they will call for water, and they will get water like molten copper that will school their faces and burn out their insights, that there is a tree in this Hellfire, which is the tree of Zaku.

00:52:11--> 00:52:18

With the fruits which are like heads of devils that is so bitter that when you try to eat it, you will hardly be able to swallow it.

00:52:19--> 00:52:24

But you will force and the people in there will force themselves force themselves

00:52:25--> 00:52:46

because of their hunger, but the bitterness will make them more thirsty. So they'll cry again. And they will get the drink, boiling water, burning their faces and schooling their insights. And how long will this go on for a week, a month, a year, a decade, essentially a millennium.

00:52:49--> 00:52:49

00:52:50--> 00:52:55

for those who have rejected faith for those who have rejected

00:52:57--> 00:53:06

the worship of the Lord and their Creator, it will never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever end. Never.

00:53:08--> 00:53:17

This is the reality about which Allah has warned us this is the end result of the test of life.

00:53:20--> 00:53:21

And then there is paradise.

00:53:22--> 00:53:24

There is a place where there is no suffering.

00:53:26--> 00:53:31

No age, no argument, no futility.

00:53:33--> 00:53:34

No disease,

00:53:35--> 00:53:38

whether it's peace and happiness and tranquility,

00:53:39--> 00:53:41

whether a gardens

00:53:42--> 00:53:46

with rivers of honey and milk and wine,

00:53:47--> 00:53:52

where the soil is of Musk, and the pebbles or of precious stones

00:53:54--> 00:53:56

where its inhabitants will be served

00:53:57--> 00:54:05

by us like scattered poles reclining on silicon cushions dressed in silk with golden brocade,

00:54:07--> 00:54:09

drinking from the fountains of Paradise

00:54:10--> 00:54:12

greeted by the angels,

00:54:13--> 00:54:16

me meeting the prophets and the martyrs in the righteous.

00:54:17--> 00:54:30

And of all the supreme joys and blessings of paradise. The greatest and the most supreme joy is to be able to look upon the face of our Lord Allah subhana wa tada

00:54:31--> 00:54:42

and of all the sufferings in a torment of hell, the worst will be the knowledge of its inhabitants that they have been deprived of looking upon the face of their mode of love.

00:54:46--> 00:54:49
