Sects and Cults in the Muslim World Part 02 #01 – Introduction

Bismillah R Rahman r Rahim Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil Alameen wa Salatu was Salam ala Sado while he was acting in Vienna Mohammedan while Allahi wa sahbihi wa barik wa sallam. All praise are due to Allah, Lord of the worlds and peace and blessings be constantly showered upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad, the master of the first and the last, and upon his family and his companions, and all those who call to his way, and establish his sunnah to the day of judgment as to what follows my beloved brothers and sisters, to our friends to our viewers. Salaam, Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

Alhamdulillah Allah subhanaw taala has enabled us to continue on in our study of the sects and cults in the Muslim world

into a new year. And we are in the winter season. And this year in the east side of North America. We have been struck with a major Blizzard, a major winter storm. And so we are bearing through it. We pray that Allah would bless and protect all those who are under storms want to droughts, we're under floods in the world. Also we pray that Allah azza wa jal would lift the COVID 19 the pandemic are from humanity, and we'd make it easy for the Muslims in these times. And we have to remember when we are going to crisis after the crisis that Allah has told us in Surah, two talaaq verses two and three. Surely Allah will reach his purpose. And he has made a limit for all things. And so as we go from crisis to crisis,

moving closer to the day of judgment, two important qualities taqwa and Tawakkol Allah, that we should have the consciousness of Allah, fearing Allah hoping and Allah's mercy, keeping our duty to Him. And we should depend primarily on the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Because what we are going through is it is limited, Allah is eternal. And so if we have patience, the winter will turn into the spring, the pandemic will be lifted, and we will continue on in our life. In this chaotic world.

We also have to remember the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him, did not speak from himself.

But he spoke with knowledge from above seven heavens. And so his a hadith his words, his sayings are not only important for the followers in his time,

but they are relevant signposts, relevant bits of light as we go toward resurrection and adulthood and I read the law one reports at the province of solemn said Almighty heavy or Matan. The Prophet SAW Salem was reported to have said this, my Alma is a nation that has mercy on it. Its punishment will not be in the hereafter. But in this life in the dunya, that being fitten,

the plural of fitna earthquakes and murder. And so three areas, three major crises would hit us fitna trials, tribulations temptations, and we see that coming about earthquakes, natural catastrophes all over the world. And finally, murder genocide, which is striking out Oma. So the crises that we are in are predicted. And we are called upon to have patience, to turn to our prayer, and also to build our decisions on your pain

on certain knowledge, to be to have Bashira to have as much insight into what is happening around us in the world. And this is where we look toward the Prophet peace be upon him.

In trying to judge what is happening because human beings are so complex, and the Muslim world was so broad and so many individuals and cultures that enter into it, that it's important for us constantly to go back to the source, in order to have an anchor, to keep our ship from floating away.

And looking at the concept of the last OMA, because we are the last major GEMA, or the group or the followers of the prophets.

Another important foundation that we need to keep in our minds because this orientation session this introduction, which will stretch probably more than this right into the second. These are foundations for understanding that we need to have in our mind. Before we look at the isms and schisms and cults and the groups that developed in the Muslim world, we have to solidify our foundation.

We have to recognize that ALLAH blessed us with the last messenger. Allah blessed us with an Omar, which will be the largest of all nations. And the Prophet SAW Selim and speaking about his time, he said, The best people are in my generation. Pharaoh NAS, cottony to Medina, yo Luna, home to Medina, Jaya Luna, the best or in my generation best people. And then the one that follows them. And then the one that follows

this an authentic hadith which shows us that what happened in the first generation, these are the best of people. And so what about us? What about our flawed character? What about our political confusions that

going on, and our egos and our constant problems, we have to recognize

right from the beginning,

right the beginning of time that we have been involved as a human race in a major struggle against the shaytaan. What Yeah, the biller and the shaytaan has promised to take us off the path, to lead us astray to come in back of us, around us, above us, to make us change the creation of Allah.

And so, in our early study, that we have done, in the first part of this course, that is, last year, and we are continuing along in this, we studied in the celebrated book, Toby's a bliss, which is Devil's deception,

And so, we will be looking at these cults and looking at the major groupings, one sect after another the major groups that the Muslim world our world broke into

by doing this, it should give us a foundation so that we could not fall into the same issues. Inshallah, when it comes because it is still coming and is not going to end until the end of time.

People or the lie are not just liars, but they are people who literally live in a delusion. It's an illusion Hurrah. They live within this. And their extreme pride and their visions of grander and perfection, motivate them to continue to lie and to falsify the truth. And so, the liar prophets, they distort the message of Islam. And by doing that, they hope to gain followers and because of the weak nature of human beings. Over time, they have gained followers

of the many dangers of the liar prophets. That Jolene is that you'll see a trend that happens amongst them, and that is that they try their best to to cancel the second half of the Shahada. Now remember, that our shahada, our testimony of faith, that ilaha illallah, Muhammad Rasulullah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that Illa Allah Allah is clear, there is no God but Allah and with that, it cancels out all other gods, but the second part is Muhammad Rasul Allah. And when the individual accepts that, then they literally

So from the liar prophets, we understood that the first real major liar Prophet, you could say, was Safi Ibn se Yad was from the yahood of Medina and the time of the Prophet SAW Salem. He was a young man, and confused by the shaytaan. And the Prophet SAW Salem actually thought that he could be the job. He could be the AntiChrist, and de Zhao is, the creature is a human being, which is the greatest fitna that the world will ever face. And this boy even say yet had certain qualities of the job.

And

as it goes within a Hadith literature, you can go to our first part of our course, you will find that the Prophet SAW Salem actually tested Safi and Safi was an arrogant, ignorant, young man, he defied the Prophet peace be upon him. And Omar radiola. One wanted to strike, Safi but the Prophet SAW. Selim said, No, because if he is the jail, you will not be able to kill him, he will be killed by isa lay snap. And if he's not the gel, then this is wrong.

So they left him alone.

And Safi actually later became a Muslim, but died under strange circumstances, which left a serious doubt whether he was or not, but we know that the gel has not appeared, and will not appear to the Day of Resurrection. But this person here, claimed new Buddha, he claimed so many different things. So we could say in the sense that he's the first of the layer prophets. The second was a US water and see who appeared in Yemen towards the end of the Prophet's life. And this really is the first one you could clearly state, and many people start with him. And he took over Yemen for about three to four months. And when this was found out, a letter was sent to the Muslims of Yemen, and they

fought against him, and they eventually killed him with the assistance of his wife. She got tired of him, has strange stories about him, in that he used to, you know, make a strange belching sound. And when he was asked about this, he said that was the revelation.

And so finally, he, you know, was was taken out, his wife eventually became a Muslim. The third was to lay her hip in Kuwait and Saudi.

He made the claim, but he was fought against and he later embraced Islam and he died at number one. This is one of the great battles against the Persian Empire.

The fourth and probably most famous was Musella Malika dab, and that is the light.

He came from the middle of Arabia from the area of Nigeria and

As the story is, and it's a long, complicated story, but he basically, you know, got some recognition by the prophet Sell, sell them. So this this is amongst a few of the things that he actually did. Again, remember the liar prophets. They are denying Muhammad Rasul Allah, and making their own Sharia or their own way of life. He was eventually fought against by the believers. And in a major battle after the death of the province of southern he was defeated and killed. And a woman named Sajha, bent Harris,

who was a female Prophet testes, who wouldn't found out about the Salah, she joined him and married him. She eventually made Toba, she embraced Islam, and she died as a Muslim. So these are the first five manifestations

we could say. And we will go back inshallah to the liar prophets, after we deal with some of the major differences and groups within Islam. Because, you know, we hear in many cases, when you talk about the Muslim world, they say Sunni versus Shia,

as if there's two major sects, that the Muslim world broke into two, that from early times, there were those who followed aboubaker, those who wanted Ali, and so it broke into two factions. And these factions are with us to up until today. This is a lie. This is a fabrication. Because from the beginning, we have to recognize that the and the sooner we're GEMA is our major body. And our bad Eben Sadie. To give you an example of what the Prophet SAW, Selim said, because he predicted that these divisions would come and are bad once said,

once the Prophet Muhammad peace, be upon him, prayed the morning prayer with us, then turn to us and gave us an intense sermon, which made our eyes filled with tears, and our hearts quit. Now, just imagine yourself being in the situation. He starts giving us a talk and you're crying, your hearts are quivering.

And our bad, continued and said, someone then said, O Messenger of Allah, it is as if that was a Farewell Sermon. So what do you enjoy us?

Tell us something, give us a rasiya

the Prophet SAW seldom said, I advise you to fear Allah, and to hear and obey your leader, if and even if he may be a slave of Abyssinian origin.

And this is the basis of the other Sunday Well, Jamal,

and he mentioned Abyssinian for those who may have a problem with people from East Africa, who were enslaved. But this is not that all of the slaves were Abyssinians. And slaves came from Persians, they came from Romans, they came from Arabs, anybody could be a slave.

An anti tribal statement as well. That is saying, no matter what, if your leader is put amongst you

Then the Prophet SAW, Selim said, Surely he among you, who lives after me, will see great dispute

if they laugh and Katara

so adhere to my sunnah and that of the Rightly Guided caliphs, who will come after me. So this is our base. That is the basis of what we call on Sunday. Well, Gemma, he does not as not as a sect. It is not like the Muslim world broke into two sides, one is the Sunni and one is the Shia. That is the basis of Islam. And if somebody has to call themself a Muslim, you have to go back to the teachings. So the when we say the word Sunni today, you have to remember this sunny equals Muslim.

It equals Muslim in the time of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. It is the OMA. It is survival of them. It is the major Jamal, the major body of the believers from the beginning, up until today.

So this concept of Sunni and Shia as equal bodies needs to be dispelled.

This is a distortion put into the minds of our nation and the world to divide us up religiously. And politically.

We do have to recall and again, I want to establish foundations with you. Before we go into the names, because the names when you start to go into the different groups, it may start to sound redundant, because we have to cover hundreds of years, the foundation is what is key.

And that is that in the lifetime of the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him. He sent letters to the kings, this near the end of his life.

And then he gave the Arafat sermon. And during that sermon, he asked his companions, that those who are present should take this message to those who are absent, in other words, take it to the whole of humanity.

The message went to the Byzantine Romans, one of the most powerful groups in the world. They refused it and they attacked from the North. The message went to the Sassanid Persian dynasty, they attacked from the east.

And so the military response

that is the dddd, the way that the Muslims responded to hostilities, in order to bring down the attacks, and it is in when that happened, then Islam began to spread.

If you look at this map, you will see the spread of the Muslim world. It is amazing if you look from the year 630, all the way to 1700. That's what this map shows.

It's an amazing book, there has never been any nation that has spread in the history of mankind so rapidly, and to so many different nations, and is still spreading up until today,

you will look at the dark brown. And you see under the Prophet Muhammad SAW Salam, you'll see the growth. And then from 632 to 644, you'll see that reddish color, and now it is spreading through Arabia and then into Africa and into what is now the Levant or the Middle East. The pink color shows it by 661. It's all the way over to Persia, and it's going up into southern Russia.

You'll see by 662.

Right? You'll see it spreading all the way across North Africa and Lucia. And you'll see that later.

It is spreading 751 You'll see that it is it is spreading it and these are some of the major empires in the known world

at that time. Of course, there are empires in the Americas and other parts of the world, but from what was known by the people in this area,

this spread within 100

Nigeria's it broke barriers never seen of before.

With these barriers being broken so rapidly, there's no internet. That's hard for people to understand. There's even no telephones, there's no cell phones, there's no television. If you want to send a message from Emmylou, Spain, all the way to Indonesia, it'll take months, maybe years.

So the Muslim ummah,

was made up of different nations, nations living in the desert, living by the oceans, and mountains and jungles, different religions, different cultures, civilizations. And so the challenges they were facing is that suddenly it spread so fast the world was in need of Justice, the world was in need of a non judgmental connection to the Creator. And so it spread rapidly, people were opening up their doors all over the world. But the challenge was, that, in the periphery, there was many cases a lack of the genuine Knowledge of the last revelation. And by that, I mean, you would find a lack of Arabic, which is the revelation, and also the prophets tarbiyah, or his his lifestyle and his

teachings as well. So on the peripheries, there was a problem. When Islam met, for instance, Buddhism or Hinduism, in met forms of Christianity and traditional religions, then sometimes these other ways of life became more powerful than the teachings of Islam.

Another challenge that the Muslims faced was the huge influx of wealth. These were originally desert Bedouins. These are people who had rich culture, they had rich poetry, but did not have material things like the Persians and the Romans and the Ethiopians and the Chinese. And so suddenly, huge cities came underneath the rule of Islam.

Conspiracies broke up, broke out,

and the defeated leaders, when they saw that they couldn't defeat Islam, they had the old saying that they used in Europe with Christianity, if you can't beat them, join them.

When in Rome, do like the Romans do.

And so, the pagans of Mecca,

Persian and Roman aristocrats factions of the yahood groupings from Buddhism, from Hinduism, from Christianity from traditional religions, they came in, in many cases, with an intention not to completely accept Islam, but only piecemeal, maybe Muslim during the day and something else at night. And so, with the defeated leaders like the Persians and the Romans, conspiracies, power struggles developed to these are some of the challenges that the early Muslims were facing. and glimpses of it has happened throughout history. But what is interesting about this, remember the 30 years

is a righteous Sahabi and was accepted by the OMA. If you put it together it's amazing because it's almost 30 years to the day

as the Prophet SAW seldom had predicted

despite the rule, despite the great companions, weathering the storm and the different fascists, fitna came in. And the Prophet Sal seldom said that this would come to his nation and fitna, remember is the plural of Fitton.

It could be a temptation. It could be a trial. It could be sedition.

It could be civil strife.

It could be conflict with emphasis on affliction, distress and confusion. That's what we see today. With a lot of fitna, but remember that the Prophet SAW Selim said this my nation, it is a nation with has mercy on it. Its punishment is not in the next life but in this life. And he said fitten allows a little cutter. He said Fitton,

right this fitna

and earthquakes and genocide. So the Prophet predicted that this would come. Another tradition reported by Osama bin Zayed rather law one. Once the Prophet Salam stood over one of the buildings of Medina and then said to the people, do you see what I see?

They said no, he said, I see afflictions falling among your houses, as rain drops fall.

trials tests fitted, it was predicted to come and this is our test. Our test is not to enter paradise with all good things.

Our test is to be tried on the path and so fitna happened in many ways and we looked at one form of the fitna and that is the form of sedition

and this fitna is important to understand Understand the sectarian how these groups broke because the basic sunnah is there at the death of the Prophet SAW Salem. All his companions are the same. There is no Sunni, there is no Shia, none of these names. There's no Hanafi Maliki Shafi, there's none of this.

It is just Muslim moon with me known why say known? That's what the believers were right from the beginning.

But the fitness struck,

and this innovation and sedition, according to many of the scholars of Islam, you can really see it coming. The attack that was coming by Abdullah bin Saba, and this was a yahood from Yemen.

And he entered Islam in order to destroy it. And sedition, this sedition began and Medina doubts were being spread and especially the the concept of the one God and we Salah to the prophethood

in Syria, but it was stopped in Syria. It was stopped in Kufa. But Iraqi followers started to come.

Okay, good. So from Kufa followers started to come, and especially in Cairo, Egypt, that became the center of this sedition that happened and their intention and we've done we've explained this in the first session, so you can refer to part one of our course to get the details. But as we understood

the weak minded nature of people and the very traumatic events that took place caused a major outburst and the follow us up July Ibn Saba

succeeded in entering into Medina and they killed Usman Rhodiola. One, the Khalifa of the Muslims, while he was reciting the Quran, and the blood dropped on the iron, but Allah will suffice you against him. And he is all hearing and all knowing

he was reading the Koran. Imagine the trauma.

And his wife tried to block these solutionist who were coming over the top there was some Sahaba blocking the front gate, but they jumped over the roof.

Remember with memory the last one, he told us to harbor put down your swords no fighting in Medina, although it was known that there were seditious that were there causing confusion he did

not want bloodshed in Medina. He did not want his companions to be subjected to this or Medina to be subjected to this.

And his wife even tried to stop them. And she tried to block in a chopped off her finger. In defense imagine the trauma.

And so not EULA radiola. One, huh.

but a fitna developed. And this is where the fitna is sometimes a gray area, it's a confusion.

And it happened even to the best generation.

And so with so many things happening, eventually it led to Ali facing Wow, yeah.

This is unprecedented. And I began to report the provinces LM said that our will not begin until two great groups fight one another, and there will be a great battle between them. Although their call is one,

tough occasionally. This isn't Bukhari and Muslim.

And the scholars refer say that this the Battle of Safin, this is the time because they're both calling to Tauheed and RUSADA.

It's a fitna

that a great battle occurred amongst them.

And Ali versus Malia,

eventually, Ali rhodiola, one

he was prevailing

at that point, now we are then called for arbitration.

He said, Let the core end decide. And of course, when the Sahaba saw this on all sides, they dropped their weapons, because nobody wants to fight other Muslims. Nobody wants to be involved. But this is the nature of fitna and we see this happening today. It is happening in our own lives in the Muslim world. And we have to recognize it and be able to try to avoid it. And so they said, Let the court and decide.

And so they made an arbitration.

And among us, Representative Malawi, Abu Musab Ashley, they began the negotiations but it broke down.

And Ali left the area for Kufa, which he made his capital in Iraq.

But a large group of his followers succeeded.

They broke aways.

Now, even though there's a fitna going on, everybody is still listen to what JAMA, it is a confusion that is going on. And

it is recognized that Ali's side was actually the correct side. And there are many, many traditions that point toward that fact. But it was a fitna.

And when this happens, human beings with a weak mentality, they lost their minds. And 12,000 of his followers broke away to her daughter.

And this is a group called El Kawada, which

this is the first major grouping that broke away from the main body.

And cavada just from Khadija I mean you go outside of the group.

And the first cottagey was do hawaiiusa autonomy.

And the root of the sickness as we found from tradition was he preferred his opinion over the profits of Salah. He was insolent and arrogant, in the face of the Prophet peace be upon him. And this group was even ready to resort to violence for this. And so this is the strange nature of this Kawada mentality and it still exists

And we need to keep these foundations in our mind and this is a good review. For those even who have gone over this because it exists amongst us today.

Look at the group that was faced by Ali and the major body of Islam.

Their apparent devotion to Islam. They scoffed at other Muslims prayers. And when they were visited, you could see marks on their forehead, eyes read for making Tahajjud prayer. When you come near the camp, it sounds like the the buzzing of bees because they're reading the Quran.

So they were fanatical and observances of Islam rituals. But they distorted their whole view of the world. And they disregarded human life. Even the life of some of the great companions of the Prophet SAW Salem was disregarded. No respectful life. And you could tell they're extreme views because they had a view attack verbal Mahasi and that is if you commit sins, your coffee, you are a disbeliever. And they were harsh, with non Muslims, harsh with their opponents, even Muslims. And you can see sometimes they're even harsher with Muslims than with non Muslims. But Ali Read the last one, he defeated the whole village at number one

from their survivors

the coverage they sent out assassins to assess to assassinate Ali. Wow, we are available last.

And

But they were ultimately defeated. Another quarter Jack rebellion broke out against Al Hasan, who took over after Ali. But we find from history that

Muslims continued to struggle against this grouping.

And it continued into Romania dynasty and later Ambassade dynasty beloved, and remnants of the movement settled in Oman and Algeria. Algeria, there's not much trace, but an omen. Trace goes on up until today, there was a group in Oban. That is called the

IBA dia, the bodies are living in Iran, living in Oman. And there are there are new versions of the body grouping of the heritage, which many of the listeners are actually accepting them. And you see they're making hydrogen Homa, you know, as well as long as they go, don't go into the extreme cottagey groupings. So the first major grouping from the Muslim world was the heritage. And this is important. This is part of our foundations that we will go through, has we open up the door again, to the different cults and the groupings and the sext that had come into the Muslim world. How did you they left the Muslim world that is the first break not Sunni versus Shia. There is no Sunni

versus Shia. Everybody suddenly because sunnah is the way of the Prophet moment. So Salah, this is dealing with a schism that came about through a type of insanity that struck after traumatic affairs.
