Previously, we were talking about the beginning of the fourth year of digital, which is the fourth year of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam his residents in the city of Medina. Now to kind of provide a little bit of context exactly what we're talking about, but not to go over everything in detail. This is basically the period of post war hood. So in the second year of Hitler, of course, you had the very famous battle of budget. There were expeditions that were sent by the prophets a lot he said them, there was the tragedy, which we discussed previously have been madrona, in which someone came under the guise of wanting to take teachers, to their people in order for them to possibly accept Islam and learn about the deen and the religion. And very tragically, they stopped on the way there. And there was a massacre that occurred in about 70 Sahaba, who were

students of the prophets, a lot of them they were not, you know, all Sahaba were students of the Prophet Sal said, um, but these were individuals that were dedicated to learning the deen and the religion, they were full time students of knowledge. And they were very brutally massacred at that place, a beat of my own Now,

one of the individuals who was able to escape that tragedy, I'm going to be in omega abundante. On the way back to the city of Medina, what ended up happening was, we talked about this previously, obviously, you can imagine seeing, you know, 67, or 68 of your companions, your comrades, your brothers, being massacred brutally. And, you know, seeing their dead bodies left out there, tragically, he was very traumatized, he was very shaken up and kind of on edge. his nerves were very, very on edge, he came across a couple of individuals, and he, you know, kind of interacted with them. And he found out that they belonged to the tribe of the individual who had recruited the

Sahaba and taken them to begin with, even though that man's tribe was not a part of this, what we call hada, this deception, but nevertheless, he himself acted of his own accord individually, his tribe did not cooperate with him. But you can still imagine that the Sahabi hearing that they belong to that tribe, he immediately, you know, was was shaken up by that he went on the offensive. And he waited till these two individuals like down kind of got off their guard because they were stopped where people would stop while traveling. And then he killed both of them before he thought that they would try to kill him or capture him.

When he arrives back in the city of Medina, he informs about what basically happened in the profits, a lot of them at that time, tells him that the people the tribe, they are not our enemy. They did not do this. In fact, we have an alliance and a peace treaty with them. And so the prophets, a lot of them said no worries, no concern. I understand the circumstances that you were in you had just seen, you know, nearly 70 of your brothers get massacred.

Terribly, and so I understand your own personal circumstance, however, we will be fair

We will compensate these individuals and we will pay basically the retribution for these individuals to their family into their tribe, the what's called the DIA the blood money, the retribution.

Now, this is where and it's a very interesting incident occurs that is mentioned within the Quran very prominently.

There was a tribe of you know, before we talked about earlier in the sessions where we talked about the prophet SAW some arriving in Medina, that there were some very key strategic Jewish tribes that lived in and around Medina Yamanaka, buena de Bono pureza. These were the major Jewish tribes that lived in and around the city of Medina, one of those tribes that lived right outside the city of Medina would now would be pretty much inside the boundaries of the modern day, Medina, but at that time, it was right outside of the old Medina was banana lead.

And the pact in the treaty was that if an accidental killing or an accidental death occurs, and the retribution, right, the the the blood money has to be paid to those individuals, then you will help us in the paying of that blood money, that and similarly, if you face a similar circumstance, then we will also aid and help you. So that agreement was in place, that if you find yourself in this type of a difficult position financially, we will aid you and if we find ourselves in such a difficult position financially, you will aid us, we are partners, just like we will share the benefits of our

partnership, we will share the losses of our partnership. And this, by the way, was not an unreasonable term in their agreement. This was standard operating procedure of him and of the treaty that would be that would exist between different tribes. So this was very standard operating procedure. So the prophets Allah Leeson reached out to the people of banana leaf.

It's at that particular time, that

Now it is at this particular time that the prophets, a lot of the seven gets together with the Sahaba. And, you know, they discuss basically what has just happened and transpired, these people that are supposed to be our allies, who are supposed to be helping us in this case, heard the terms of our agreement and treaty, right, in fact, forget about helping us out, they turned around and tried to assassinate the profits, a lot of them. And so they they think about what to do also there is a directive from Allah subhanaw taala, which I will talk about in just a minute. So the prophets, Allah says Mohammed, he sends Mohammed bin muslimah radi Allahu taala, and who is Sahabi, who was

from Medina, and had some, you know, connections in relations from the pre Islamic period with some of the Jewish tribes. So he tells them to go and inform banana lead, that they are to evacuate the area where they live outside of Medina, per the terms of the agreement in the treaty, because the treaty had said, If anyone violates these terms, if anyone commits an act of aggression towards the other, they will have to evacuate the premises, they can no longer be trusted to be neighbors. So they have to evacuate the premises. So part of the terms of the agreement, you have to go, he goes and he informs them that I've come with a message from the Prophet sallallahu sallam. And what's

very fascinating, was very fascinating is that when he goes in, he informs them that you try to assassinate the prophets or something, there was no denial on their part. That is also very fascinating. Right? So that means that there is an acceptance of their guilt. And he said, and they immediately start taking aggressive military or defensive measures about how are we going to fight

Muhammad salatu salam now, instead of like trying to, you know, if this was some Muslim paranoia, if this was some trickery on the part of the Muslims, which we know it's not, there will be some type of conversation about what are you talking about? We didn't do anything. How could you do this? Why are you saying this? There was none of that there was immediately a taking of arms. And so he goes in, he informs them at the same time you had another dynamic that had been playing out for quite some time that we've talked about previously. And that was Abdullah being obeyed in saloon and the group of the mafia tune the hypocrites. And the enemy within that basically pretended acted claimed

to be Muslim, but they were really constantly conspiring against the prophets, a lot of them, they were in cahoots, they were in, you know, cooperation with the operation Mecca, also constantly in contact with the Jewish tribes. At the end of our conversation here, we'll see that they were promising them that look, what if you have to fight them will fight with you. The worst case scenario, if they kick you out, they asked you, we will come with you. We will leave Medina with you. We are with you in this fight. So don't you give up and don't you give in.

So because of their encouragement, and I've deliberately begun saloon just again substantiate the fact kind of recall something we've talked about in the past, he was the same individual who had come who had initially promised to participate in the Battle of a herd

with 300 of his people, and then at the last minute ended up retreating and leaving with 300 of his people trying to leave the Muslim army high and dry. And so that's the nature of this individual. And he was promising that I have 2000 men at my disposal.

And I will fight by your side and we will eradicate the Muslims.

But of course, when everything came to pass, he was nowhere to be found. So finally, they issued them a warning. They said you have 10 days

to do whatever you need to do. But you have to evacuate the premises, you have to leave the territory. All right, you have 10 days to make all arrangements and do whatever you need to do. They send word back, we're not going anywhere. We'll fight you if we have to. So finally, the prophets a lot he sent them along with, you know, the Sahaba the prophets, a lot of them came out from the city of Medina and proceeded towards the area but an elite

is Hark Rahim Allahu taala, the famous historian and scholar of this era. He says that this was in the month of Robert Irwin.

And so the prophets a lot of input, Abdullah Al Maktoum, the elderly, blind Sahaba, who was also more admin of Medina, he put him in charge of, you know, watching over the city of Medina and running the affairs of Medina. And the prophets, Allah Himself along with his companions proceeded to lead when they arrived out to banana lead, banana lead, they had a very strategic setup. What they had was they had fields. So again, it was not very easy terrain for an army to kind of march through. They had huge fields. After that they had very they had an orchard, if you will, like a date orchard that was very, very dense with day pumps. So again, an army really couldn't walk

through, couldn't march through. And it was just a huge area of just eight pumps. And after right behind those deep pumps, they had a huge fort like a castle with big walls. So what they did was they retreated back into their forte into their castle, if you will, locked up the doors position themselves along the wall. And now what they had was they had this dense foilage almost like a forest in front of them. After that there were fields. And so as the Muslim armies approaching through the fields, which slowed them down and kind of started to scatter them and disperse them, and break up the ranks, that made them prime targets to shoot arrows from up on the wall, and then

once they would enter into the forest, the trees that would further disperse and break up the ranks in the army. So that now they're like individual, they're separated and again, they had a strategic vantage point from on top, where they could shoot down arrows at them and kind of pick them off.

One after the other. So it's very, very treacherous.

So the prophets, a lot of them came to the edge of that those fields, the farmland that they had, and they camped out there kind of like a standoff. And a whopping the, he says that they stayed there for 15 days, they camped out there for 15 days. So there's a lot of restraint.

There's a lot of restraint and a lot of patience being practiced on the part of the process. And so in that whole 15 days, the message was sent to them that the previous offer still stands.

We had an agreement, you violated the agreement very egregiously, you can still pack up your stuff and leave and no one will be harmed, no one will be touched. We're not interested in bloodshed here.

But if you don't, you know, desist, then we will have to take measures.

And after 15 days, finally, the profits, a lot of a sudden, they tried to proceed. But then they were again met with that whole strategic plan that they'd had of shooting down arrows and kind of, you know, starting to pick off, you know, individuals from the army. so in this situation, the prophets, a lot of them took the necessary measures. And the necessary measures the prophets a lot SLM took was that the prophets a lot of them ordered, that the trees that the first of all, a lot of the fields should be raised

and burned, to level the land so that they could walk through it, and then those trees should be chopped down, cut down and burned down, so that it would clear path for the army all the way up to the fort.

And that's what the prophets Allah commanded the Sahaba to do at that time. And that's exactly what was done. Now, this is one of the key components,

or one of the key talking points when it comes to the incidence of banana leaf. Because the criticism that was brought against the profits a lot of a sudden, by the mafia home, the hypocrites Abdullah bin Laden's rule, and these individuals were Dr. Malik, sway dice, these were all leaders of the hypocrites. They said that

This is not the classical scenario that we may be kind of heard of, or we've read about how different armies behave, or even seen in movies, or whatever it was, this was not like pillaging, where they're just going around randomly burning villages to the ground with people inside of their homes. This is not that, in fact, in fact, Quite to the contrary, many of the historians like even this half and be happy and others have also documented the fact that the majority of the trees and the crops and things in that

area were not burned.

Actually, afterwards, if you took a survey of that land of banana, the only a very small area of those trees were burned. And those were the ones that were in the path of the army that was strategically set up by banana lead as a defense protocol as a defense strategy. of waiting it out, first giving them 10 days, then then rejecting the offer, then two weeks of waiting it out and giving them another opportunity. And then them still, you know being defiant. After all that the prophets a lot, he said, I'm still said, You have three days,

you have three days, you can leave every individual, every individual. And it said that there are about 600 individuals, every individual can have a camel with them. And they can take whatever they can load onto a camel.

Right. And in terms of what you can load onto a camel, think about it like everyone gets, you know, to be able to take like,

like a container with them. Everyone can pack up a van individually, each individual can pack up a van and take whatever they can take with them. And they packed up all their personal belongings, so much so that it's also said that some of them even, you know, removed like fixtures from their homes.

Some of them were seeing even taking like doors off of their homes, loading it onto the camels, like they were able to take most of what they owned, the only thing that they were told they were not allowed to take or weapons for obvious reason.

And then they were they left from there. And that's why when you read about the incidence of an athlete, most of what the Muslims recovered, after Bernadine had left the area where basically the weapons most of what was recovered was weapons there was not much left beyond that.

And so this is the incidents have been unloaded. And this is how basically they were dispersed. Now what happened to these individuals.

The narration says that the majority of them actually went to the place of labor.

And they were welcomed and labeled with like a huge welcome because one of the leaders have been an athlete his name was haven after he was considered like a very respectable individual amongst the Jewish tribes. And so they were welcomed and labeled with a lot of you know, parade and welcome and things like that. And they basically resigned in haven until the incident of cable would occur because from haven they would plot and plan the revenge against Medina and against Muslims. But nevertheless, majority of them went to the place of clay but some of them are also documented to have split off from the group and gone to the area of the Levant belonged to Shang and they

basically settled over there. And so this basically concluded the incidents of banana lead. A couple of things that are mentioned here about this particular incident is there were two individuals from banana lead who became Muslim.

Another interesting kind of anecdote or fact about this incident of Bernadine is that the during those that time of the day, while the siege was being laid against the lead, that is the time during which the ayah about the prohibition of wine of

we have he saw that that is when the prohibition of wine and alcohol was revealed by Allah subhanaw taala. And that's a whole nother conversation. I'm not going to get into it here. But it's a very fascinating element of Islamic law in Islamic history, about how wine and alcohol was prohibited by Allah subhanaw taala, that it was done in three stages. This we call this a Deadwood, fishery, right at

a tertiary, that this is the gradual legislation by Allah subhanaw taala. And it displays and it shows the wisdom of Islamic law. And it also teaches us a very powerful element of data began to alene that how do you go about and really removing evil from people that it is a process, that it is a process and we should always remember that process and learn from that process? But basically, first, initially, awareness was brought. Secondly, then a partial prohibition was instituted, that you cannot pray while you are under the influence. And ultimately, it was completely outlawed and prohibited, eventually, and that was during this time as well. The other thing that I wanted to

mention here is that there is also a narration

that talks about the aftermath of the incident of vanilla lead, that one of the individuals are binuclear Reva another Jewish tribe that would end up having a very serious incident with the Muslims.
