Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, in this video, gives testimony to illustrate in front of us the life of one of the greatest human beings to have ever walked the face of this earth and also one of the most magnanimous Sahabas who breathed for the sake of Islam and led a life in the way of Islam with immense grit, determination and conviction – Bilal Ibn Rabah RA.
Bilal Ibn Rabah was born to slave parents and he had a tall, lean, fit, dark skinned personality with big lips and nose. He adorned a slight beard and it is reported that he was of the same age as Abu bakr As Siddiq RA. Bilal RA was a slave and he was owned by Umayyah Bin Khalaf.
When Umayyah ibn Khalaf discovered that Bilal had converted to Islam, he began a series of persecutions against him at the instigation of Abu Jahl. In this state too, Bilal refused to obey his command and kept repeating “Ahad Ahad” (God is one). Angered by this refusal, Umayyah even sought to torture him by placing him on the hot sand in summer and place boulders on his chest. Such was the sheer Jahiliyyah of the time.
When Abu Bakr RA saw this on his way, he reported the matter to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and he then was instructed to free Bilal RA for a sum of 280 dirhams which was much higher for an ordinary slave. From that day onwards, Bilal RA never left the side of the Prophet ﷺ and accompanied him everywhere he went and in every battle he fought. He married only after the death of Prophet ﷺ and died childless.
Bilal RA stood on top of the Kaaba and gave the Adhan after the conquest of Mecca which was the ultimate symbol of faith. Bilal RA is the first ever Muezzin – the possessor of the most loud and beautiful voice for Adhan (hadith shared by the shaykh regarding this) in the history of Islam and he is also the first to have given the Adhan in Medina, in Mecca and in Damascus.

After the death of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he was so upset that he vowed never to recite the Adhan ever again since it pained him thinking of the memories of the Prophet ﷺ. He made a concession once on the insistence of Abu Bakr RA in Syria during the battle and he obliged.

but it is useful to remind ourselves of his full story beginning to end. And he is one of the most famous of the Sahaba and that is Bilal, a bank robber, villain, a bank robber. Obviously, the slave does not have the same love and the same inheritance, but essentially the slaves honor is a part of the family honor, if the slave does something bad, then it is the owner that is going to be embarrassed. Right? So villas conversion, you can imagine how omiya even kind of felt. And so when he heard this, it is said Omega paced around the whole day waiting for blood to come back when he returned at Muslim time. He said
to him, is it true that you have Sabah which is what they would call accept Islam? And he said straight to his masters face that now that you have heard that, yes, it is true. I have embraced the faith. And he has said to him, that Who are you to embrace anything, you are a slave? You have no right to any Free Will you have no right today as you please You are my property. And he tried to convince him threaten him to leave Islam. And of course, the law said I shall never
do so. And so my then began a series of prosecutions. And this is of course famous or infamous in all books of Sierra in Miss rhodiola. One said, and this hadith is famous is worded in Bahati and I mentioned it many times in the Sierra. The first people who announced their Islam were seven, seven were the first converts the prophets of the law. Why do you send them Abu Bakar Amar and his mother's sumiya and sohaib and Bilal, and myka dad, these are the seven that are the first converts. So as for the Prophet salallahu idea he was setting them his uncle Abu Talib protected him. And as for Abu Bakar, his people the blue team protected him but for the rest of them they were tortured.

And so all of the Sahaba felsic, Abu Bakar thought he was gonna die. So there'd be like two, two doors and a passageway in the middle. So if you spoke, you could hear what you had said. So below would walk straight to the end of the masjid, and say, a Salah rasulillah, slowly, a Salah rasulillah. And when he heard the process of doing will do and
whatnot, then he would go and give and stand and wait. And when he saw the processor come out, he would then give the karma. So he's basically telling the process of them, you may now come out, everything is ready. Because the processor would pray the nothing in his house, he would pray the sooner in his house. And the people would then stand up in their rows, also of the blessings of Babylon is that benign, along with a small group of Sahaba are praised in the Quran. And their piety is described and their honor is defended. And this is a very famous episode in this era, very famous incident of the Sierra mentioned by every book of Tafseer. And it is something that all of us should be aware of that. In the early phase of the Dawa,
a delegation came to visit a bulldog clip. And this delegation comprised of some of the more open minded of the kurush

and others who are not as adamant as Abuja a little bit more open minded. And they said to
go tell your nephew that we're willing to listen to him and have an audience with him where he can explain we can ask questions, and we'll think about that.

And so Subhanallah Can you just imagine that site, he climbed the place that he would have climbed for 10 years. And he stood to give the other man in his old any place that you know, was his place of event. And as soon as he said the tech beat, a lot of work, but a lot of luck.
