Brothers and sisters, Islam

00:00:04--> 00:00:10

is the greatest blessing that Allah subhanho wa Taala has given us and is a religion that came

00:00:11--> 00:00:19

to make us people that make a difference in this world. It's a religion that came to give honor

00:00:20--> 00:00:41

to those who accepted its message. It's a religion that came to make us trendsetters, and not followers. It's a religion that came to make us demonstrators. It's religion that came to make us people who are seen and not just people who see other people doing things.

00:00:42--> 00:00:43

Right.

00:00:45--> 00:01:25

This is Islam. This is Islam. Islam came to make us wealthy citizens of every community we live in, to make us contributors to every environment that we experience, be it in our home, be it in our Masjid, be it in our school, be it in our workplace, in any environment, you can dream up. Islam came to make you a more wealthy contributor to that environment. This is the reality brothers and sisters. Islam came to make us active and proactive, and not reactionary or passive.

00:01:27--> 00:01:28

Islam

00:01:30--> 00:01:43

came to teach us the opportunity over the obstacle, I said this area, and this is a reality. This is a reality. Now,

00:01:44--> 00:01:57

basically, when we contemplate over the sentences that I shared, and what Islam came with, we see that Islam came to shift paradigms. Does anybody know what shifting paradigms is?

00:01:58--> 00:01:59

No.

00:02:00--> 00:02:02

It came to shift paradigms.

00:02:04--> 00:02:05

Let's run

00:02:07--> 00:02:08

a process

00:02:09--> 00:02:14

which will inshallah teach you about shifting paradigms in practice, rather than me giving you a definition?

00:02:15--> 00:02:22

Close your eyes. It's close our eyes. Everybody, don't be shy. Close your eyes.

00:02:23--> 00:02:24

I want you to imagine something.

00:02:27--> 00:02:28

It's the middle of summer.

00:02:30--> 00:02:31

You work hard.

00:02:32--> 00:02:34

It's the end of the week, Friday.

00:02:35--> 00:02:48

And you exhausted It was a long week, as they say. And you're in the middle of London. That's where you work. Everything is tired, traffic, foot traffic, road traffic, everything is hectic.

00:02:49--> 00:02:51

And you just want to get home.

00:02:52--> 00:02:57

And enjoy the weekend. It's Friday, isn't it? TGI Fridays. Thank God, it's Friday.

00:02:59--> 00:03:02

So it's Friday, and you

00:03:04--> 00:03:09

are your mode of transport home is the tube. So you go into the hustle and bustle of the underground.

00:03:11--> 00:03:19

And you get onto the tube. And you sit down and you just want to get home and you pull out your must have. And you start reading

00:03:21--> 00:03:29

and the train moves. As this train moves, it gets to the next stop, it stops the doors open. And people come out and people come in.

00:03:30--> 00:03:34

And from the people that come in is this person with five children.

00:03:36--> 00:03:40

And these five children are rowdy kids,

00:03:41--> 00:03:46

rowdy, and they running up and down the carriage that you

00:03:47--> 00:04:11

disturbing people screaming you trying to read the forearm, they bump you the must have almost tumbled out of your hand and you tie it and there's all this noise. And the person or the adults that came with them. The adult that came with them is not even making an effort to settle them down. Now without opening your eyes tell me how do you feel at this moment? Do you feel happy?

00:04:13--> 00:04:19

No, you feel upset. You feel a bit angry. You feel frustrated.

00:04:21--> 00:04:39

And the person who's in charge of these children are not doing anything by you. So you decide I'm the active and proactive person. I attended the talk with Sachi dharma. And this talk was about being active. So I'm going to get up and do something about the situation. So you get up.

00:04:40--> 00:04:41

And you walk to

00:04:43--> 00:04:58

the father of these kids who's just standing and you say, Excuse me, sir. Your kids are extremely disturbing. They disturbing everybody on this carriage and you need to do something about it.

00:04:59--> 00:04:59

I mean,

00:05:00--> 00:05:01

By the way, I'm being polite.

00:05:04--> 00:05:15

And this person turns around and looks at you with watery eyes and says, you know, I'm really sorry. But they just lost their mother this morning.

00:05:16--> 00:05:18

And we just tried to deal with it.

00:05:20--> 00:05:21

How do you feel now?

00:05:22--> 00:05:22

Angry?

00:05:24--> 00:05:34

No? frustrated? No, you feel apologetic, you feel sorry. You feel compassion. You feel sensitive, not so.

00:05:36--> 00:05:39

What just happened in your mind, the situation is the same.

00:05:40--> 00:05:48

The kids are still running around, bumping into people, everything is the same. But one second ago, you are angry and all of a sudden you feeling compassion, what happens?

00:05:50--> 00:06:07

a paradigm shift happened. That's what happened. That's what a paradigm shift is. When you look at one situation, and you can see it with the obstacle or the opportunities, the same thing, just how you look at it, how your mind perceives it.

00:06:08--> 00:06:11

Islam came to shift our paradigm.

00:06:12--> 00:06:37

This is what it came to do. If we only understood brothers and sisters, right? How was that example, for that little process out the people on the camera can practice it at home as well. But that's a paradigm shift. In practice, I could have given you the definition, you probably would have thought about appreciating it. But appreciated, Islam came to shift paradigms, it came to add context in our lives.

00:06:39--> 00:06:41

When we were running behind content,

00:06:43--> 00:06:44

the glitz and glamour of this world,

00:06:46--> 00:06:52

the 1 million making it into two and the 2 million into three and the one vehicle into the next.

00:06:54--> 00:06:58

And the one mobile phone into the next, Islam came to add context.

00:07:01--> 00:07:06

So Pamela, as to how we should conduct ourselves with the glitz and glamour of this world.

00:07:08--> 00:07:10

And how we should utilize our time

00:07:11--> 00:07:22

and how we should utilize our energies context to it, that you have energies you are utilizing it. But you need some context as to how utilizing it, it's happening in the wrong way at the moment.

00:07:23--> 00:07:36

You have wealth and you're utilizing it, you buy all the latest equipment, but you need some context in your life as to how to better utilize that particular resource of wealth, how to become a high impact individual.

00:07:37--> 00:08:14

This is what it's about brothers and sisters. Islam came to increase our net worth. But the net worth at the finance people talk about our net worth as we as the own Mohammed sallallahu alayhi wa sallam walking this earth to para VLAN how to function in a high impact way, how to make a real difference and not just any difference. This is what Islam came with brothers and sisters, like the famous have he said, when he was questioned by the Emperor what has brought you here? What did he say? We know Christianity bad when you revise it in

00:08:15--> 00:08:16

your ability. But

00:08:17--> 00:08:50

look at this context, we have come to remove the worshipers from worshipping the worshipers to worshiping the creator of the worshipers La ilaha illa Allah before we used to come for train, now we come in with context with realities that create high impact results that a llama understand this concept of servant of Allah, and oh child of Adam. Now the question is, how do I become a high impact individual.

00:08:51--> 00:09:07

And this is where my long introduction comes to an end. And we entered the topic of today's discussion which is having a vision. This is where it starts are servants of Allah and children of Adam? It starts with having a vision.

00:09:08--> 00:09:10

Have we heard the term vision before?

00:09:12--> 00:09:13

With the world television,

00:09:15--> 00:09:19

having a vision, having a vision, this is where it starts.

00:09:21--> 00:09:23

The vision is the framework

00:09:25--> 00:09:26

behind everything we do.

00:09:28--> 00:09:30

It's the framework behind everything we do.

00:09:32--> 00:09:36

It explains who we are, and it explains who we are not.

00:09:39--> 00:09:55

It's not appropriate English to say who we are not colloquial, but it sticks. who we are and who we met. This is what the vision does for us. It's the housing of our missions. Everything we do in life is a mission.

00:09:57--> 00:09:58

But why do we do it?

00:09:59--> 00:10:00

It's how

00:10:00--> 00:10:03

By this vision because we tried to get to that vision,

00:10:05--> 00:10:11

becoming a high net individual, and a high impact person starts at the vision.

00:10:12--> 00:10:21

Now, many of us might have read books that talk about visions and missions and goal setting and strategies, and so on and so forth.

00:10:22--> 00:10:34

And have an idea of what it means to have a vision what a vision means. But I'll put it to you in other terms, for the purposes of our discussion, and that is a vision

00:10:35--> 00:10:36

is the answer

00:10:38--> 00:10:44

to the question, how would you love to be remembered when you die?

00:10:46--> 00:10:49

What's the legacy you want to leave behind?

00:10:51--> 00:10:56

And as someone beloved says to me, once, when they explained this concept of vision,

00:10:57--> 00:10:58

they said,

00:11:00--> 00:11:02

What would the world miss when you die?

00:11:05--> 00:11:19

Right? What would it miss when you die? Meaning what value Did you bring to the oma that once you got that value is going to go and the oma is going to miss it, meaning, same thing we just said, What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

00:11:20--> 00:11:26

This is where it starts. This is the question brothers and sisters when you want to become high impact.

00:11:28--> 00:11:54

Now, I'm not telling us that we all need to become Gandhi's. For example, He was a visionary. And most of the books you read talk about Gandhi and Roosevelt them. And these names. For example, as examples of visionaries. We we just heard the other day of Martin Luther King and the celebration or the 50th celebration of the speech where he said, I have a dream. That was a vision.

00:11:55--> 00:11:56

Right?

00:11:57--> 00:12:26

I'm not saying we need to have, I'm not telling us that we all by default have to think on this global level know, each and every one of us. Allah made us with our specific call. And our specific abilities. Some people are introverts, some people are extroverts. Some people are risk averse. Some people take risks, people are different. But in your own realm, and your core being, you have a purpose as we've established in the introduction behind you as a creation.

00:12:27--> 00:12:48

And within your resources and capacities. There is a legacy that you can leave behind whether it's in the form of a familiar legacy, whether it's a legacy left behind in the family, where your family will talk about you for generations to come, whether it's a global legacy, where the world will talk about you for years, and generations to come. Whether it's a business legacy,

00:12:50--> 00:13:12

where you institutionalize the revolutionary program, which took the world by storm, and everyone in the realm of business will talk about you for generations to come, and so on and so forth. It depends, but the crux of it is, each and every one of us have to have an answer to this question, what is the legacy that we want to leave behind?

00:13:14--> 00:13:20

You are a Muslim, you have to have an answer to this question. And there has to be a legacy that you leave behind.

00:13:21--> 00:13:30

So Pamela Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam left behind the legacy, and so did the companions that he nurtured with him

00:13:31--> 00:13:34

and took over the affairs of the oma after him.

00:13:35--> 00:13:53

So this is where it starts. My dear brothers and sisters, having a vision protects us from living two extremes. The first one is the extreme of people who think they know but they don't know. And they think they are doing things but actually not.

00:13:54--> 00:14:01

When you have a vision, you protected from that extreme. There are people in community in the community today when you call them to action. They say we act like

00:14:03--> 00:14:42

they're in a state of heedlessness, they think they are acting but they actually not. And then there's the other extreme of retrogression, where you become a passive individual and do their thing. Why because you don't have a foundation to lift yourself up from. Why because there's no clarity in your life, and no purpose that you've understood behind you as a human being. And by Allah, it's disrespectful to Allah subhanho wa Taala to live your life, acting as if there's no purpose behind you and your presence on this earth. It's disrespectful to Allah. In our introduction, we just established that it's a sinner from the spirit of Allah subhanho wa Taala.

00:14:43--> 00:14:49

Some of us disrespect Allah by verbally saying, there's nothing for us to do.

00:14:50--> 00:14:51

Or we have no

00:14:52--> 00:14:54

purpose behind us being here, when

00:14:56--> 00:14:59

the majority don't say this, but what the majority does do is

00:15:00--> 00:15:24

Respect Allah subhanho wa Taala. In practice, yes, we don't say it. But when you analyze your life you see in practice, you are doing a disservice and are being disrespectful to Allah subhanho wa Taala in that you have not lived yourself acknowledging this purpose behind you as a creation of Allah subhanho wa Taala behind you, as a as one that Allah has blessed to

00:15:26--> 00:15:31

acknowledge the oneness of Allah subhanho wa Taala, and the prophecy of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam.

00:15:33--> 00:15:35

So in practice, we passive,

00:15:36--> 00:15:38

we might not say it verbatim,

00:15:39--> 00:15:55

we might not believe it, but an analogy of our lives shows that we are not being true to our belief or so called belief that we believe we have a purpose. So brothers and sisters, this is where it starts. What's your vision,

00:15:56--> 00:15:57

in life,

00:15:58--> 00:16:18

and the coming about of this vision obviously comes about from what we spend time in our introduction, discussing the purpose behind you, as a creation. Having a vision helps breed focus in our lives. Remember, we said it tells us who we are, and who we are not. Right? We're not people who do everything.

00:16:19--> 00:16:23

Because you cannot do everything, people who do just everything, don't have a vision.

00:16:25--> 00:16:28

You don't have a vision, it breeds focus.

00:16:30--> 00:16:45

And it helps us become high impact people in then we use the years of our life in achieving so much more than a person who does not have a vision does how, how, give me an example. How many times

00:16:46--> 00:16:51

have we seen a person started degree at university?

00:16:52--> 00:16:55

And after two years, they say, Well, I want to change my degrees.

00:16:56--> 00:16:57

Is this familiar?

00:16:58--> 00:17:03

How many times does a person start a job, and within months, this job is breeding his depression.

00:17:06--> 00:17:07

And he wants to change his job.

00:17:09--> 00:17:09

This is common

00:17:11--> 00:17:11

common.

00:17:14--> 00:17:24

When you pry further, and for me personally, this is something in practice in practice, when we visit the different ice office and sit down with the different students, and they sit down with you and say, You know what, I want to change my profession.

00:17:26--> 00:17:26

And you say Why?

00:17:29--> 00:17:32

Because I've just not feeling it. Why?

00:17:33--> 00:17:36

I don't know. But why did you start it?

00:17:37--> 00:17:41

Because, you know, I had to do a degree. And

00:17:42--> 00:17:46

you know, it paid? Well, it was, oh, that's what my friends were doing. So you know, I did it.

00:17:48--> 00:18:13

This is the problem. When you lack vision, you waste time, you waste time, the two years of your life that went is wasted. A vision helps protect your time protects the resource of time and wealth. How many times does the Dow organization they do something, and then all of a sudden, six months later, the project is shut down? Now we did something else. Like why did you start doing that project? Well, you know, those other massages, we're doing it

00:18:14--> 00:18:50

for you. So you spend six months of your time of donations, that wealth is gone, you're not going to get back? And what do you have to show for it? Zero. So now what are we doing this now? Now we do this program? And after six months, it's canceled? It's a mess. No, no, we don't want to do this. So what do you want to do? Now you know, that machine is doing that. Let's try that. So we don't know who we are. We don't know who we are. So we have no direction in our movement. So we wasting time and wealth. And that Masjid or Islamic Center might be there for 10 years before they actually start doing real work. So that's 10 years lost.

00:18:51--> 00:19:01

And that's wealth and money and donations of 10 years that becomes rusty as well. So coming back to my initial point, having a vision helps add years to our life.

00:19:02--> 00:19:17

How does it help add years to our life? By making us do high impact things all the time, and not things we will grow to regret, not things we will turn back and say Hold on a second here of waste time I need to start again.

00:19:18--> 00:19:38

You understand this point? It makes us high impact people by what? By adding years to our life. We not the student who's dropping out after two years or changing specialization after two years. So he finished his degree when he was 26. I finished it when I was 23. When I was 22. I finished on time. I'm high impact

00:19:40--> 00:19:43

in the four years to 26.

00:19:44--> 00:19:48

I did much more than the student who's now just graduated.

00:19:50--> 00:19:59

Do you see how you become a high impact person? This is what the vision does for brothers and sisters. And it was appropriate that the first talk of this tour making our back started with

00:20:00--> 00:20:02

The concept of having a vision.

00:20:04--> 00:20:10

Having a vision allows you to make the right decisions at the right time.

00:20:12--> 00:20:13

And this is important

00:20:15--> 00:20:21

because this is the crux of being a high net worth individual and active and proactive individuals.

00:20:23--> 00:20:28

Think of a person who wants to travel from birth to Australia.

00:20:29--> 00:20:35

The vision is Australia, because they know what they want to see

00:20:37--> 00:20:38

on their deathbed.

00:20:39--> 00:20:40

Right?

00:20:41--> 00:20:44

They want to see themselves in Australia, for example.

00:20:46--> 00:20:50

Everything they do, will have meaning behind it.

00:20:52--> 00:20:57

They won't be buying a vehicle right now, because they move in.

00:20:58--> 00:21:02

You won't see them taking out a loan to buy a house.

00:21:04--> 00:21:10

Because they move it wouldn't make sense. Why would you want to take out a loan for a home when you leaving?

00:21:12--> 00:21:24

You would see them purchasing a plane ticket to take them to Heathrow and a plane ticket to take them to Australia. That makes sense. These are missions What do these missions lead to the vision? What's the vision getting to Australia,

00:21:25--> 00:21:29

on the other hand, take our friend who just jumped into his car in the morning and he starts driving.

00:21:30--> 00:21:34

And you asked him where you go. He says I don't know. I'm just going.

00:21:36--> 00:21:44

Okay. After one hour of driving around aimlessly, he didn't impact on me in any way. He didn't impact himself in any way. He decides, you know what?

00:21:46--> 00:21:51

I'm 100 kilometres away from my home, but I've decided I want to go to Scotland.

00:21:52--> 00:22:05

But you know what I need to fulfill, and then I need money. And then when my mum is at home, why is your money at home? I left it at home, but you wanted to go to Scotland know when I started driving? I didn't know. I just decided now.

00:22:07--> 00:22:30

You see the example of low vision. So now what happens? I got to drive back but I don't have enough fuel to get back. I'm stuck. Now I need to worry somebody else can fetch me. Why did you catch your bus or borrow money from somebody to come back to get my wallet and get my money and now suit myself up because now I want to go to Scotland. Now I know it's dawned upon me after I've wasted so much time and so much money.

00:22:32--> 00:22:35

This is the concept of a vision. So I hope you understand this.
