Usooluth Tafsir – Conditions of the Mufassir and Makkiy Madaniy Categorisation – Episode 3

We begin today's episode by praising Allah subhanho wa Taala. We ask him for his help, we ask him to open those beneficial knowledge for all of us. And we ask him to send his choices of blessings and salutations upon the final messenger, our beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu, ala, your early reseller sallam, his family members, his companions and all those who tread upon his path with utmost sincerity until the day of karma.

So this is going to be episode number three from the pursuit of C Series. Today, we're going to be dealing with the conditions for the professor, the conditions of a professor.

And we're also going to be discussing in Sharla gyla with regards to mechi, the categorization of macchi and madonie when it comes to sort of upset

so to start off the conditions of a professor now, who is mfsl. The term Mufasa is an Arabic term, and it stems from the same roots as the seal. So we have already discussed the definition of the seal. And now we have this term professor. So professor is basically the person who does the see who comes up with obscene. A sound belief system condition number two, is along with the belief system, this individual needs to have the appropriate knowledge now before venturing into a task. before venturing towards accomplishing the task, you obviously need the appropriate tools to do so.

Regardless of the task, let's say it's videography, you obviously need the tools to arrive at the end result in the form of maybe a camera in the form of devices to basically capture video capture audio, the lighting setup.

And then to work with things first, you'd need a a computer, you would need the software to edit the video to render the video out. And then eventually for it to reach people you'd need a platform so as you can see, you need all these tools in place. The tools along with the know how. Now, what's the point of having a camera with you and you don't know how to use the camera. You don't know what the

ISO stands for you don't know what aperture means you don't know which lens to use, you don't understand the different models that are out there mirrorless cameras, you got DSLR cameras or compact cameras. So you need to have all of these, these technical understandings in place when it comes to audio devices, you have different types of microphones out there. So which 1am I supposed to use in terms of lighting, you have softboxes, you have LED panels, you have fluorescent lighting, you have all these technical things. So this is just the field that, you know, I'm familiar with. So we're discussing this. But regardless, let's say it's something like carpentry, you'd still need all

let's say it's building a house, you need the appropriate tools and the knowledge with regards to those tools to be able to do what you're trying to do. So similarly, when it comes to

the Tafseer of the Koran, okay, and this year, we're talking about the speech of Allah subhanho wa Taala, the grandest and the greatest of sciences or on you need

appropriate knowledge. So you need to have a strong and firm grounding when it comes to the Arabic language, you need to understand how the Arabic language works. You need to have an understanding with regards to not have Arabic grammar, you need to know sort of, you need to have an understanding of the literary devices,

you know, captured in the form on to be able to understand the wording. And, you know, when it comes to deducing rules, when it comes to understanding a fifth in the Quran, you need to have that in place. You need to know what the gospel should have said, You need to know the suburb or the Babel newzoo. The reasons behind the revelation of ayat, to understand the context to understand the landscape, along with that you need to understand which ayat have been abrogated. So you'd have ayat that talk about a particular issue, where perhaps you would have one ruling that came in initially, and now you have the ruling that comes afterwards abrogates the previous rulings, so you need to

kind of know the timeline, you need to understand how this works to be able to arrive at an appropriate time of sales. As you can see, this is a very, very important and broad aspect abroad condition that needs to be fulfilled. So you see you have methodologies that you need to adhere to arrive at the desired outcome result. So similarly with when it comes to the FCA, you can't just jump straight into that

There were items that were revealed to him and he was traveling and there is that revealed when he was a resident.

So this categorization is in place to understand when to establish a timeline

to understand when the ayat were revealed. So you have mucky muddy. So opinion number one is that

when you say McKee, you mean

the ayat that were revealed unto the messenger, when he was in Makkah.

And when you say madonie, he basically mean the ayah that were revealed at the messenger when he was in Medina.

As for the ayah, that were revealed in other places,

you know, the thing is, if you want to go with this opinion, then you would kind of need to label

other places as well. Let's say let's say hypothetically, if the prophecy license and toys and AI are revealed, then then those I need to be categorized as toys, because

so this is this is basically one opinion that is in place.

Another opinion put forth by the scholars, is that Mackey basically means I add that were revealed,

addressing the people of Makkah,

regardless of where it was revealed, so the first opinion goes with geographical locations, but then, like we highlighted, if we had to go with geographical locations, there would have been we would have to have a whole list of places, let's say profit was at this juncture or at this location, then we'd have to go with, you know, labeling it with the name of that location, which is not the case. So the second opinion is that it is not necessarily

it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the location but rather it's with regards to the people

that are being addressed. So this opinion states that macchiato sutras are in relation to the people of Makkah, and Melanie I art slash tours in relation to the people of Medina.

But again,

If you look at that opinion, you'd see that

the third opinion, the one that I'm going to be sharing now seems to make more sense it.

It is a lot less complicated to deal with, and it's very easy to navigate.

The third opinion is that the murky category is defined as whatever was revealed under the messenger sallallahu alayhi wasallam, before his migration to Medina,

wherever he was, regardless of who was being addressed, because at the end of the day, the Quran is for all times. So we are being addressed now as we read the Koran. So it's just not restricted to the people. In my case, it's not restricted to the people of Medina. It's for all times right. So here, the mechi ayat are basically categorized ayat slash sewers sewer are categorized as that which was revealed that the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam before his migration, and I think you'd have already understood that with madonie it's basically whatever was revealed after the header of the prophets of Allah Islam so that's that's the timeline Cabell Hydra battle Hydra. So Mikey, in

other words, means cobble Hydra. madonie means that they'll hegira regardless of whether it was revealed in Mecca or Medina.

Let's say you know, during alpha, which is the year of the conquest or during Hajj, whether whether the Prophet was traveling with the Prophet was a resident whether he was in in anti for any other place. We go with this categorization, public Hydra battle Hydra, and this is the opinion that I am inclined towards what law while Allah subhanho wa Taala knows best, but along with understanding that many brothers and sisters, when you look into the books that will sort of see it, you actually see, you know, other categorizations that are in place as well for you know, your information. Now, you have categorizations put forth by the scholars,

such as howdy and safaree, which basically mean I add that reveal unto the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam when he was a resident, and I added revealed unto him and he was traveling. So this shows you know, how much of detail has been captured by the Sahaba but don't let Allah Allah Jemaine the likes of Arusha or mother eyeshadow, the low unhappy scholars like Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Omar, Abdullah, Vanessa road, Abu hurayrah, rhodiola, Han home, all of them, you know, they basically they observed the Prophet slicin so carefully, and they they were, they were very diligent and meticulous students of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa, and he was, they had an eye for detail,

attention for detail, something that is unfortunately, lacking in a lot of us these days, something that we need to, to work on in shallow data.

Along with that, you also see other categories that are in place, such as nihari, and layli. I add that were revealed unto the messengers that along the way, during the day, I had that were revealed unto him at night. And then you also have another interesting category that has been put forth by scholars known as

an owl D and A sama II, I add that were revealed unto the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on earth, and if that were revealed unto him in the heavens,

then you have another category put forth by scholars known as a scifi. And she that he is that reveal that the prophets lie Selim during summer is revealed unto him sallallahu alayhi wasallam during winter, so many brothers and sisters, we obviously not going to go into all these categories because they get very technical.

But for your information, these categories are in place and have been discussed by the scholars of the sea. We are concerned with Mikey and Melanie and we have understood that we're going with the opinion public Hydra battle, Hydra. So inshallah Allah in the next episode, in the next class, we're going to be talking about the first ayah that was revealed unto the messenger salallahu alayhi wa sallam. And you will be surprised to see that there's actually a difference of opinion, because some of you might immediately think, Well, I know that right. It's a corrupt middle because of the Holocaust. Well, there's a difference of opinion. And we'll try to mention a few opinions there and

basically illustrate which opinion seems to be the strongest Be it malaita Allah, and then we'll also discuss the last idea that was revealed to the Prophet sallallahu sallam. No, it was not sort of the NASS that was revealed out of the prophets of Allah Islam as his last chapter or last Ayah it's it's it's a another Ayah some of you might be thinking it is the ayah in certain matita but there are two we have a few opinions to discuss and I will ensure a love in the light Allah indicate
