Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullah wa barakato. I hope all of you are doing well. The other day I received a question from a distressed follower of mine on Instagram. And by the way, you can hit me up on Instagram too, and I'll do my level best to respond to your messages in sha Allah that. So anyway,

00:00:21--> 00:00:22

the question was,

00:00:26--> 00:00:36

dear chef, I suffer from sleep deprivation. In other words, insomnia and I find it very difficult to function well during the day. Could you suggest a remedy or prayer for me?

00:00:38--> 00:01:17

Allah subhanho wa Taala is the situation of those who are suffering from insomnia. Sleep deprivation, otherwise known as insomnia commonly is the inability to get the amount of sleep you need to wake up feeling rested and refreshed. We are all different at the end of the day, and different people need different amounts of sleep. Insomnia is defined by the quality of your sleep and how you feel after sleeping, not the number of hours you sleep or how quickly you can fall asleep or doze off. So even if you're spending eight to 10 hours a night in bed, if you still feel drowsy and fatigued during the day, you may be experiencing some form of insomnia. So now if this

00:01:17--> 00:01:55

sleep deprivation is due to physical causes, it should be diagnosed and treated by referring to doctors and professionals in a particular field. But at the same time, one should complement such a treatment with spiritual healing which is achieved by turning to Allah subhanho wa Taala, the creator of sleep for assistance. So inshallah tada I hope to share a few action items to help you get a good night's sleep, eating dinner by the will of Allah subhanho wa Taala action item number one, stick to a regular sleep schedule. Support your biological clock by going to bed and getting up at the same time every day even during the weekends. action item number two get regular exercise

00:01:55--> 00:02:26

regular exercise can improve the symptoms of insomnia but it's not a quick fix. It takes several months to feel the full effects and there needs to be consistency. Aim for 30 minutes or more of activity on most days but not too close to bedtime as that can activate you and make it harder for you to settle into sleep. action item number three, avoid late meals try to avoid heavy rich foods within two hours of bed. fatty foods can take a lot of work for your stomach to digest and spicy or acidic foods can cause heartburn acid reflux are a number of other complications.

00:02:28--> 00:03:07

Moving on to action item number four. Make sure your bedroom is quiet dark and cold. Noise light and heat can interfere with your sleep so try using some sort of a machine or earplugs to hide outside noise. Open your windows. switch on the fan. Keep the room cool make sure you close your curtains and even if you need to use a sleep mask use it to block out light. Moving on to action item number five turn off screens one hour before bedtime. The light emitted from TV tablets, smartphones and computers suppresses our body's production of melatonin can severely disrupt our sleep. So instead of emailing texting watching TV or playing video games, try and listening to something beneficial

00:03:07--> 00:03:46

like the four on a beneficial podcast or or even reading by a soft light. action item number six. Finally, make sure you follow all the directions of our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam while he was the best teacher and whose lifestyle is the best solution for all of us. Now let me briefly touch on a few sooner actions in sha Allah who died sooner action number one the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to sleep on his right side putting his right hand on his right cheek and this is what the prophet sallallahu Sallam recommended others to do as well. A common authentic hadith that has been narrated by Bharat urban as the last one the Prophet

00:03:46--> 00:04:26

sallallahu Sallam is reported to have said when you go to bed perform will do as if prayer then lie down on your right side and this has been recorded in the book of Imam Al Bukhari Rahim Allah. So the Sunnah is to put one's right hand under one's cheek, it was narrated that how they found your loved one who he said that when was realized that a lot of Miley when he was 11 went to bed at night he would put his hand under his cheek and then he would say Allah hum Bismillah and move to IKEA. Well a lot in your name. I die and I live there when he woke up he would say Alhamdulillah Hila de ohana Banda Americana elation you should praise be to Allah who has brought us back to life after

00:04:26--> 00:04:59

causing us to die and unto him is the resurrection. This is the main record and the Book of Mormon Buhari has been a member of the rationalized report prep set the right side is singled out for a number of reasons such as this lets a person wake up more quickly. It also allows the heart to lean towards the right hand side. Even though Josie Rahim molars report Trump said the doctors have stated that this position is more beneficial to the body. They said to start by lying on the right side for a while then turn over to the left because the former aids in peristalsis which is the progressive way of contraction and relaxation.

00:05:00--> 00:05:38

tubular muscular system especially the elementary cannon, by which the contents are forced through through the system and sleeping on one's left side facilitates digestion. It is also from the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu Sallam that a Muslim reads certain IR before going to bed. So I am number one is the greatest verse in the novel for an iron kursi, which is in sutra Biafra, which is the second Surah Ayah number 255. In innovation that has been recorded as a book of Imam Al Bukhari Rahim Allah, Abu huraira, the loved one who is reported to have said that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam appointed me to guard the wealth of Zakah during the month of Ramadan,

00:05:38--> 00:06:05

then someone came and started to pilfer from the wealth and at the end of the head is a long story. Okay? It's a beautiful long story and then at the end of the Hadith dismantles forever the loved one when you go to bed, recite ayatul kursi for there will remain with you a guardian from Allah and no devil will approach you until the morning comes. The Prophet sallallahu Sallam is reporter and said this individual has told you the truth, although he is generally a liar, and he was none other than the devil. He was chiffon. Amazing.

00:06:07--> 00:06:41

Okay, moving on the next Suna recitation is to read the last two verses of Surah Al Baqarah. It was narrated from Abu Musa road I'm sorry, arogya long line that the prophets of Allah while you send them is reported to have said along the lines of these words, whoever reads the last two Ayat of Surah Al Baqarah. At night before he sleeps, they will suffice for him. Hadith Buhari and Muslim Imam Rahim Allah is reputed to have said in this regard that these two ayat will suffice for this individual against any evil that may harm him in his book.

00:06:42--> 00:07:18

The next recitation in line is to read Surah Al Cafiero kuliah you healthcare for your own law, Buddha, Buddha, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam his report prep said to a particular companion, read Polya you healthcare through and then go to sleep at the end of it for it is a complete denial of ship. The Hadith is in the book of Buddha would remember Timothy akima Humala, the final recitation that I hope to touch on is a very powerful one, and it is in the form of readings for the last and Al Mojave the 10, ie the last three surahs of the noble Koran. It was narrated from our mother, our isharo the law one had that when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa

00:07:18--> 00:07:56

sallam went to bed every night he would hold his hands together and blow into them. He would recite it to them called who Allahu Ahad, Allah who summit and he would read out of Europe will follow up and he would also read out the Bureau of bidness, the last three surahs then he would wipe them or whatever he could have his body, starting with his head and face and then the front of his body, and he would do so he would do in a similar way. Three times this habit has been recorded the book of Imam Al Bukhari, Rahim Allah, he would wipe as much as possible from his body, three times, thrice amazing. These are the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. So my dear brothers and

00:07:56--> 00:08:36

sisters in Islam, if you are finding it difficult to sleep, it could be for a number of reasons, psychological reasons, and there's a lot of evil out there as well. You have to understand that there are many forces of evil at work out there. The sort of lies a lot while he was alive did not leave us groping in the dark, he has left us with teachings that would help us protect ourselves. these teachings are akin to an armor you see you put on an armor and armor that protects you. So we need to harness the power of these teachings by adopting them into our lives, and by reading them on a consistent basis, where we do it every single night just as how the Prophet sallallahu Sallam used

00:08:36--> 00:09:12

to do so. And if we do so, we can no doubt secure protection from Allah subhanho wa Taala. So it is of utmost importance that we seek the assistance from Allah subhanho wa Taala we seek help from Allah subhanho wa Taala in this regard, because at the end of the day, he is the healer, he is the cure. All cure is with Allah subhanho wa Taala all protection is by Allah subhanho wa jal, we seek refuge We seek refuge in Allah subhanho wa Taala from the occures devil and his minions. So many brothers and sisters in Islam, adopt the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam build a close relationship with the Koran and no doubt you are going to have a good life in this world as

00:09:12--> 00:09:36

well as the hereafter and you will be protected from all evil and harm. May Allah azza wa jal protect all of us may he bless us and May He grant us the best in this world as well as the hereafter. With that I conclude I look forward to talking to you all in another video where perhaps I hope to address another question inshallah, in the near future, the second half so until then, take care of salaam aleikum wa rahmatullah wa barakato.
