all praise and thanks be to Almighty Allah subhanho wa Taala who is our Creator sustainer nareesha protector and cura We ask Allah azza wa jal to Sharma his choices of blessings and salutations upon our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, his family members, his companions and all those who tread upon his path with utmost sincerity until the day of

slaves of Allah, our children of Adam, first and foremost, I advise myself and then all of your present here to adopt a life of taqwa. And that is to fear Allah subhanho wa Taala and to be conscious of allies of Virgil, during every single second of our lives, if we wish to attain success in this world, as well as the hereafter. May Allah azza wa jal make us all from the people of taqwa mean,

00:02:42--> 00:02:44

inshallah Allah

00:02:46--> 00:02:54

the title for today's sermon is the code of an optimist and the sermon will evolve inshallah Donna

00:02:55--> 00:03:10

around a very beautiful principle, as well as a few lessons that have been derived from an extremely inspiring surah and that surah is Surah to Sha the surah that I recited at the beginning of the

00:03:12--> 00:03:18

surah Shara. So, before we go further, a little background about this about the surah.

00:03:19--> 00:03:34

This surah was revealed Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam during the very early stages of the meccan period, very early stages. In other words, during the inception of the prophethood of Rasul Allah He said a lot while he was selling,

00:03:35--> 00:03:40

and the sutra came down at a time when Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam

00:03:41--> 00:03:58

was going through a lot of trials, a lot of calamities, he was being persecuted by his own people, by the pagans, of Mecca. So he was going through a lot of pliers, a lot of calamities, a lot of difficulties, a lot of fitter.

00:03:59--> 00:04:05

And it was as if it was as if the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

00:04:07--> 00:04:34

If I were to put it in a very modern term, it was as if the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was slightly depressed. It was as if this was the only moment that happened and a lot of adjustments down the surah and afterwards, these worries these thoughts that were in the heart of the prophets that alarm while he was in him left him completely as we will see inshallah Allah He was a bit worried. It was a big purchase. He was upset.

00:04:35--> 00:04:40

Why is all of this happening? Has Allah Subhana Allah abandoned me?

00:04:42--> 00:04:55

Is there a problem in me? And then Allah azza wa jal sends down to sutras actually surah to bohart the sudo before sudo to Shara and then sudo to Shah we will be focusing on sort of the Shara inshallah

00:04:57--> 00:04:59

in Surah to Doha, Allah azza wa jal states, man

00:05:05--> 00:05:29

Your Lord has not abandoned you. Your Lord has not abandoned you, nor does he detest you love. Allah subhanho wa Taala send down sutras to re assure the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to console Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to boost his spirit and to fill him with optimism with positivity, Allahu Akbar.

00:05:30--> 00:06:15

And as we all know, my dear respected elders and brothers in Islam, the sort of law he said a long while he was alive, was the greatest or the greatest optimist to ever walk on the face of this earth. The Fulani said a lot while he was alive. He was the greatest optimist and we follow Him we follow his Sunnah we follow his teachings, it is upon us to, to look at things from a very positive perspective. We are supposed to take a positive approach in all matters. And this is according to the Sunnah of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, because we do in today's time and era, wherever we look around. What do we see? We see trials, we see calamities, we see afflictions.

00:06:16--> 00:06:23

And at times if our Eman is a little weak, we start to question the decree of Allah subhanho wa Taala.

00:06:24--> 00:06:45

Whether we take it at an international level, or a personal level, we are all going through problems. And at times we question Eliza gel. We are just statements that in reality are very blasphemous. We say, oh, how come? You know what life is not fair? Or God is not merciful upon me.

00:06:46--> 00:06:58

And we even have people who question if God is so merciful, then why is there so much of evil taking place? Why are children being butchered and massacred?

00:06:59--> 00:07:05

Why all of the events that are taking place in Palestine happening if God is merciful?

00:07:06--> 00:07:14

You have image 370 you have qc 8501 flights going missing? You have floods everywhere.

00:07:17--> 00:07:22

Even in our own country, I was in Malaysia last week, floods all over the place so many people

00:07:24--> 00:07:29

affected May Allah subhanahu Medina ease their affairs as well as I've heard, I mean,

00:07:30--> 00:07:44

so at times this question crops up Why has Allah subhanho wa Taala decreed all of these things in reality for Eliza budget is so merciful. Why are these things happening? My dear respected elders and brothers in Islam?

00:07:45--> 00:07:47

two things number one,

00:07:48--> 00:07:59

is that when you talk about the other of allies of agenda, the decree of Allah subhanho wa Taala, you need to bear in mind that the quarter of allies of a gel is divided into two.

00:08:01--> 00:08:24

One is that Allah subhanho wa Taala rules and decrees things that he loves. I hope I'm clear Ally's original decrees and Wills things that he loves. And the second category is where Allah Subhana Allah wills and decrees things that he does not love. Let me give you an example.

00:08:25--> 00:08:27

Take the man of Abu Bakr rhodiola one,

00:08:29--> 00:08:32

the Imam of Abu Bakr, or your loved one.

00:08:33--> 00:08:50

What do you think? I'm sure all of us would agree that Allah behind them with Allah loved the man of Abu Bakr, radi Allahu Allah, and Allah azza wa jal willed it and let it happen. Abubakar, the long line who embraced Islam and Allahu Akbar is one of the greatest Sahaba there is one light Allah Allah him and

00:08:52--> 00:08:55

now let's talk about the man of Abu Jahan

00:08:56--> 00:09:05

Abuja. He never embraced Islam. But don't you think that Allah subhana wa Taala would have loved that Abu Jamal embraced Islam?

00:09:06--> 00:09:13

Allah loves it, of course. But then Allah subhanho wa Taala did not let it happen.

00:09:14--> 00:09:42

Even though I was behind this like the fact that he remained a cafe last behind and what Allah let that happen he dislikes it Allah azza wa jal Okay, let's turn the example the other way around. What about an area the villa Abubakar Aviva never committed this? This is just an example for us to understand. Please don't misquote me. Talk about the coup for Abubakar the loved one it never happened is just an example for example sake.

00:09:43--> 00:09:57

Do you think Allah subhanho wa Taala would like that Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu commit Kufa Allah Yeah, the villa? No, not at all impossible. Allah azza wa jal disliked it. Allah subhanho wa Taala did not let it happen.

00:09:59--> 00:09:59

Allah did not

00:10:00--> 00:10:10

did not let it happen. The cover of Abuja while he committed Cofer, do you think Allah azza wa jal liked it? he disliked it completely. He hated it, but he let it happen.

00:10:12--> 00:10:58

Are you with me? Are we on the same page in terms of the example? allies of agenda this like the cover of Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu. He did not let it happen. he disliked the poofer of Abu jihad, but he let it happen. Likewise, many respected elders and brothers in Islam, whatever you see happening on planet earth today in terms of calamities, trials, afflictions, tribulations, massacres, murders, whatever is happening, don't think that Allah azza wa jal loves it and Allah Subhana Allah is not some kind of a war god, like how the Romans have no idea the villa, Allah is the Most Merciful Rahman Al Rahim. he dislikes it, but he wills it to happen. He decrees it for

00:10:58--> 00:11:12

certain wisdoms that he alone knows, because we all accept and attest to the fact that a loss plan is the greatest plan. And that plan is in motion. Let me give you another example.

00:11:13--> 00:11:17

And if I'm not mistaken, this was highlighted by Mr. Rahim Allah.

00:11:19--> 00:11:31

say if there was a child, may Allah subhanho wa Taala protect all of our children. I mean, say if there was a child who was affected with a disease, say for example, gangrene,

00:11:32--> 00:11:55

say one of his toes or his leg was affected with gangrene. And now the doctor informs the chapter, the parent of the child, the Father, I'm sorry, you will have to amputate the toe of the child or the leg of their child to save the child. If you don't amputate the leg, you're going to lose your child.

00:11:57--> 00:12:07

tough call. tough decision. But the Father has to call the shots he has to make the decision. If he does not do it on time, he may lose his child.

00:12:08--> 00:12:14

But now from the perspective of the child, the child may not understand it at times, he may wander

00:12:15--> 00:12:54

or he may think, or can he think, oh, look at how cruel My father is. He's chopping off my leg. He's cutting off my toe. He may think like that, or he may even think matter of the doctor. But later on down the line after he grows up. He will appreciate the decision of his father, the decision of the doctor because why that amputation that surgery saved his life. Now, do you think the father wished or that he likes to chop off the toe of his child or the leg of his child? Do you think he loves it? He hates it he detests it.

00:12:56--> 00:13:05

But then it's a tough call he has to make the decision. This is just an example. To give you an example of certain things that are done even though you don't have a liking towards it.

00:13:07--> 00:13:23

So the father of Allah azza wa jal and please remember a principle in regard to a loss behind them what Allah wa Lila Hill methadone Allah, Allah azza wa jal is above all of these examples. These examples are just for our weak minds to understand for our weak minds to further now coming back to sort of to Shara

00:13:24--> 00:13:28

the important principle that I wanted to highlight is that

00:13:29--> 00:13:47

bear in mind, that calamities that difficulties, trials that take place in your life or at an international level, are in no way connected to the pleasure of Allah Subhana Allah. In other words, let me explain.

00:13:48--> 00:14:27

Allah subhana wa Taala can love an individual and yet he may test that individual and put him through a windmill of trials and calamities. And in fact, it may even be the manifestation of the love of Allah behind them. What are Allah, if Allah loves you, He will definitely put you through trials and calamities to test you. And the best prime example for that are the MBR Allahumma salatu wa salam, it is an established fact in all of our hearts and minds that the mBiA Salatu was Salam are the closest of creation to Allah subhanho wa Taala, the most beloved of creation to Eliza then why did Allah subhanho wa Taala put them through so much of priors?

00:14:30--> 00:14:49

you name a prophet, he has gone through trials new holla he salat wa salam, Ibrahim alayhi salatu salam, a U nav salat wa salam Musa alayhis salatu wa sallam, our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam so many trials so many calamities, why? Because Eliza loves them.

00:14:51--> 00:14:59

So we should not think foolishly, oh, all these things are happening in Malaysia or these things are happening in Sri Lanka. It is the anger of a loss of behind everyone.

00:15:00--> 00:15:04

Allah the rock of Allah azzawajal. Who are we to be judgmental?

00:15:05--> 00:15:26

Allahu alayhi wa Jai came in he is the best of judges. You and I, we can judge we can be judgmental. We don't have the right whatsoever. It is totally with allies of a gel. But then for us to understand the times these trials can be a sign of the love of Allah subhanho wa Taala and this we understand from Surah to Shara.

00:15:28--> 00:15:53

Because even though trials and persecution were present in the life of the sort of law, he said a lot while he was Allah, Allah azza wa jal highlights to Rasul Allah as well as the oma at large You and I, that indeed after every difficulty comes is in the meilleurs reuse raw in numeral grocery use raw after every difficulty comes is

00:15:54--> 00:16:35

there are beautiful lessons to be derived from the surah My dear, respected elders and brothers in Islam, this surah brims over with positivity with optimism. It is such a beautiful and inspiring surah it filled the heart of the Prophet alayhi salaatu wa Salaam with positivity with confidence and with strength and likewise, it should fill our hearts too if you're going through difficulties if you are going through a patch of trouble. recite the surah ponder on the meanings of the surah today sadly, we read the Quran like how a parrot does. We don't ponder on the words of Allah subhanho wa Taala we don't ponder on the meanings of the Quran. The more we ponder the movie reflect

00:16:35--> 00:16:47

and the more we internalize the ayah it results in amazing changes in our lives. May Allah subhanho wa Taala help us all to ponder on the amazing words of our powerful maker. I mean,

00:16:49--> 00:17:20

the surah brimming over with positivity. And that's why I thought of talking about the code of an optimist. In the few minutes that I have remaining, there are a few formulas that I wish to touch on a few formulas that if you internalize and bring into your lives, it will help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. It will help you to move along life very, very smoothly. Insha Allah, Allah. So let me start off with the formula number one,

00:17:23--> 00:17:24

become so strong.

00:17:26--> 00:17:27

Please don't fall asleep.

00:17:29--> 00:18:14

And try to be with me on the same page in shallow dialogue, very useful formulas. Firstly, for myself, and then all of your shallow data. Number one, become so strong, that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. You need to become so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. In other words, you need to become like a rock. Not in a bad way in a good way. You need to become like a rock. You must never absorb any negativity, any form of negativity, any negative remark any negative comment, don't absorb it. Be like a rock and become strong and become strong in yourself. You need to believe in yourself. You need to believe in yourself. Yes, I can do it.

00:18:15--> 00:18:34

You must believe in yourself. The more you believe in yourselves, the more you will achieve amazing things The more you will achieve amazing things and as we will go further you will see in sha Allah how important it is to have high aspirations, inshallah Tada. And remember,

00:18:36--> 00:18:47

in accordance with the first formula, what you give back in life is what you will get in return. What you give back what you give in life is what you will get back in return. What you give is what you will get back.

00:18:48--> 00:19:22

It is a two way street life is a two way two way street. Just as our marriage is also a two way street. We think of marriage as a one way street, where we only take take take take from our spouses, we don't give anything. But even in marriage You need to give to get you need to give love to get love. You need to respect to get respect. That's how it works. Likewise in life, you need to give kindness to receive kindness. You need to give love to get love. You need to give respect to get respect. This is how it works in life. The more you give, the more you get. Let me give you a story. There was once a father and a son who were walking

00:19:24--> 00:19:39

and the son tripped over the minute he tripped over he tripped over a rock and he fell down. When he fell down. He screamed, ah, he shouted. But they were by a valley. They were by a rally they were camping or something like that. It's a fable but it has a lesson to the story.

00:19:40--> 00:19:44

The minute he screamed out, he heard someone else screaming.

00:19:46--> 00:19:50

And this shocked the young boy and then he cried out Who are you?

00:19:51--> 00:19:54

And then that same person cried out Who are you?

00:19:55--> 00:19:59

Now this shocked the boy even further and he said you are a covered

00:20:00--> 00:20:07

Come forward. That person said again you I covered come forward. And he looked at his father and he asked his father dad What's happening?

00:20:09--> 00:20:12

The father then explained to the boy, my dear son,

00:20:13--> 00:20:31

there is nobody is just an echo. You are hearing yourself. In other words when you try out your voice or your the sound of your voice, bounces off the mountain and comes back to you. It's an echo and he explained to him an echo, but then he taught the boy, a beautiful lesson.

00:20:33--> 00:21:13

This is exactly how it works in life. What you give you get back in return, what you voice out is what you get. If you say I'm a coward, I'm a coward. I'm a coward. You will end up becoming a coven May Allah subhanho wa Taala save us all, but if you believe in yourself, and likewise, if you give out if you love others, if you're kind to others, if you're good to others, this is exactly what you will get in return. inshallah. So this is formula number one, formula number two, talk about the blessings of Allah azza wa jal and talk about goodness to every single person you meet.

00:21:15--> 00:21:27

Count the blessings of Allah and don't count your burdens, count the blessings of Allah subhanho wa Taala. Don't count your burdens, your burdens fade away, in comparison to the blessings of Allah azza wa jal. The blessings are so numerous What

00:21:30--> 00:22:11

if you were to try and count the blessings of Allah azza wa jal, you will never ever be able to encompass all of the blessings of Allah Subhana Allah Allah, so each person you meet, talk to that person about the blessings of Allah subhanho wa Taala because you never know that individual may be down in the dumps. He may be this depressed, he may be worried he may be in a ditch or a canyon of trouble and worry, he may be swamped down but then by your words. It is a reminder for yourself and then for him to he will suddenly see the light at the end of the tunnel. And you may have inspired him Allahu Akbar, to become inspired is great but to inspire others incredible May Allah azza wa jal

00:22:11--> 00:22:13

help us to inspire others I mean,

00:22:14--> 00:22:58

so in this way, my dear, respected elders and brothers in Islam you will fill others lives with a light and you will also boost their spirits. And this was from the Sunnah of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Formula number three, make everybody feel that there is something in them, make them feel that they are winners, in their own spheres, make each and every individual feel that he is a winner in his own sphere. Formula number three. And this My dear, respected elders and brothers in Islam is from the traits of a good leader. And this was very strongly present in the life of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. So many examples, he identified certain skills of certain

00:22:58--> 00:23:45

individuals, and he pushed them towards that Allah. He knew that Beloved, are the one who had a good voice, he made him the official most of them. He knew that Harley Denali wrote the last one. He was a strategist, he knew warfare, he knew that he was a warrior. So he put him in charge of expeditions, battles, etc. Likewise, there are many other examples from the life of Rasulullah, sallAllahu, Alayhi, wasallam, that highlight the prafulla identified skills of individuals of his companions, and he pushed them towards that this is a trait of a very good leader, that he identifies skills of his followers and pushes them towards that Allahu Akbar, formula number four,

00:23:45--> 00:24:16

look at the sunny side of everything. Look at the sunny side of everything. In other words, look at every single thing from a positive perspective, use an optimistic approach towards everything, Allahu Akbar, your life will transform right in front of your eyes, a positive approach to every single thing. There is a famous example, that psychologists as well as motivational speakers often use, and this is the glass half full approach. I'm sure most of you all

00:24:17--> 00:25:00

might be aware of this example, glass half full approach. So if I were to have a glass with me here, and if I were to show you a glass with half, which was half full, there are two ways that you can describe this glass. You can either say it is a glass half full, or you can say that it is a glass half empty, two ways. But if you say it's a glass half full, it is a positive way of describing the glass. If you say it is a glass half empty, it is a negative way of describing the glass. In other words, you're thinking Oh, say it's a nice milkshake. Oh, I only got this little. I've only got a half glass. You know half of it is over half of it is empty, but then a positive

00:25:00--> 00:25:07

approach, oh, I've still got half remaining, it's half full. So this is a positive way of looking at certain things. Let me give you a story.

00:25:09--> 00:25:15

There was once a father who had two boys. I mentioned this before, but it's a very good example.

00:25:16--> 00:25:24

Two boys, they were twins, identical twin Siamese twins identical. They were identical except for the fact that one boy was a

00:25:26--> 00:26:04

was an optimist. And the other was a pessimist. One was a boy who looked at everything from a positive angle and the other from a negative angle, an optimist and a pessimist. So one day the father wanted to test the two. So what did he do when these two went to school? He went and Dec. The boy who was who was me, who was a pessimist, who looked at everything from a negative angle. He did his bedroom full of toys, full of toys, all kinds of toys. The boy who was an optimist who looked at everything from a positive angle, he went and filled his room with you know what, wait for it. He was done.

00:26:05--> 00:26:17

He was done. The droppings of a horse horse dung. He filled his room and plastered it with horse dung. And now he waits for his two sons. So after school, the two boys come.

00:26:18--> 00:26:26

The optimist goes to his roll. The pessimistic goes to his room. He waited for some time. And then he goes through the negative boys room Fest, the pessimist his room.

00:26:28--> 00:26:40

And he's amazed. He goes in, and he sees amidst all of the toys that he has purchased. This boy is seated in the middle of the room and bawling, crying away. He's crying.

00:26:41--> 00:27:07

So the father asked the son, my dear son, you have all of these toys, but why are you crying? The boy says, Well, you know that I'm worried. You know, if I open up the toys, I may break the toys. If my friends get to know that I have toys, they may come and break my toys. If I start playing with my toys, the batteries might run out and I won't be able to play with my toys. And he has not touched one toy. He's crying. Why? Because he used to look at everything from a negative angle.

00:27:09--> 00:27:31

The father leaves that boy and now goes to the optimist. He goes to his room. He goes into his room. And Allahu Akbar, he sees this boy beaming, smiling, and he has found a shower from somewhere and he's digging away. Where is he in the middle of all of the horse dung. The father then asked that boy, my son,

00:27:32--> 00:28:08

why are you so happy? And what is made you so happy you in the middle of all of this was done. You know what the boy said? You know what, that if there is so much of a horse dung, there's bound to be a pony somewhere I'm searching for that pony. I'm searching for the horse. You see a positive approach. This is positivity. This is an optimistic approach towards life. So we need to look at everything from a positive angle. If you do that, no worry, no depression, no tension, no anxiety, no stress will ever afflict you in Sha Allahu taala.

00:28:10--> 00:29:00

The next formula, my dear respected elders and brothers in Islam is to think of excellence, to strive for excellence, and to settle for nothing less to strive for excellence. This is the quality of the believers. And we as believers, we need to strive for excellence in every single thing. We need to become torchbearers and these were the companions of Rasulullah sallallahu, Alayhi, wa sallam, Allah, Allah him, as well as Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he used to strive for excellence in every single thing. And this is why it is so important that we have high aspirations and Hema olalia and him Medallia, we need to have high aspirations. You see people say, if you aim

00:29:00--> 00:29:26

for the moon, what happens? You fall amidst the stars. If you aim for the moon, you will at least fall amidst the stars. So you need to have high aspirations high and lofty ambitions, Don't settle for anything less anything average have high lofty ambitions. Insha. Allah with the help of Allah, you will achieve those high and lofty ambitions. Today you name it, whoever was successful.

00:29:27--> 00:29:59

Some were successful in 10 in terms of Deen, some was successful in terms of Dean as well as dounia and you have successful people in terms of dunia alone, we need to become believers who are successful indeed as well as donia that is the best excellence of foreign excellence insha Allah tala, you ask them, they will tell you that they always had high aspirations. You will never find a negative individual at the top of the ladder. He will never reach the top. Why? Because he's always negative. He's always looking down upon himself. He does not believe

00:30:00--> 00:30:07

In himself, you need to believe in yourself and you need to have high lofty ambitions in sha Allah Allah Allah, you will reach the top.

00:30:11--> 00:30:56

The final two formulas very swiftly. You need to be enthusiastic about the success of others. This is very important about the success of others just as how you are enthusiastic of your own. You need to be enthusiastic about the success of others. You need to promote others you need to push others towards the top. We should never be jealous. A believer is never jealous. A believer is never selfish. A believer never hogs the limelight to himself. This is not from the qualities of a believer and remember success is a deep and fast flowing river and there is enough for everybody to take a drink from there's enough and more water in other words success to go around for everybody.

00:30:56--> 00:31:14

There is no point in US hogging it all for ourselves. May Allah subhanahu wa taala save us all so we need to be enthusiastic about others there's no point in professional jealousy we shouldn't be jealous about others. We should not have that jealousy in our hearts as those who realize that a lot more it was seldom is reported to have said in a hacer

00:31:17--> 00:32:03

una indeed jealousy destroys all of your good deeds, all of your good deeds just as how a fire gobbles up firewood just as how a fire gobbles of firewood. Jealousy destroys all of your good deeds. May Allah subhanho wa Taala save us all. And the final formula. My dear respected elders and brothers in Islam is to spend so much of time improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others. You need to spend so much of time improving yourself, building your relationship with Allah azza wa jal working for your gentle striving for Jenna that you should have no time at all to criticize others because sadly, that's what's happening today. You look at any sphere, any place

00:32:03--> 00:32:39

everybody is criticizing others you know, behind there backstabbing people behind their backs. May Allah subhanho wa Taala save us all. We need to be focused individuals who have a vision, who have an ambition in front of us and we need to work towards that. And that is to strive for excellence in this world, as well as the hereafter. May Allah azza wa jal make us all strong believers, and mainly Azerbaijan forgive all of our sins, except our good deeds. And just as how united us here this afternoon men unite us in the gardens of gender with our beloved Master Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. I mean we're after the Alaia in hamdu Lillahi Rabbil alameen

00:32:41--> 00:32:44

Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Allah, Dottie out
