So what was the problem with how they treated his command? The problem was that the people who left there they didn't say that as soon as I said, I did not say this, right. They didn't say the report is false. They said, Yes, he said that, but it doesn't apply now. Now, that was a basic fundamental thing. Although he was he was absolutely clear. He said, even if you see the people, the enemy is routed, still don't move. So we need to how can somebody say doesn't apply anyway, that was the logic they said, the command applied, as long as the battle was being fought, but the battle is over. Right? The battle Oh, people have run away, there is no enemy that we can see here. People are
getting the booty. And if we don't go down, and if we don't grab something, we will be left without any any booty. And these are people. These were not this was not a professional, trained army. These were not soldiers on a Saturday. These were skirmishes, these were tribal warriors. In those days, using our weapons was a basic skill that every
every person learned. I mean, it's not only men are the men and women, they both learned how to use weapons, because these were dangerous times. Number one, number two ready
was a time honored tradition of the of those days, right, you're talking about the sixth century. So reading,
and it is not only the Adams, this was across the world at the time, and for centuries later, for one tribe to read another tribe for one country to read another country, and grab booty and so on. It happened all over the world, including in continental America,
you know, the Native American tribes, they would read, this was how the,
their young men prove their mettle. By by the race and how they

And the men of course, who was there, who who got killed, got killed who escaped to escape. So, this was this was these were not safe times. So obviously,
you have to be prepared for any eventuality and therefore, being able to use weapons and being able to fight was a was considered to be a life skill. And people learned that So, everybody knew it. And in these cases when they were reading, so this was a this was like a conscript thing. Now, what was the gain from this obviously like in a raid it was it was booty it was the aneema was the god so here was a case where enemies routed people are
after the possessions of the enemy. And these people they said, we know the we are not denying the order resources salaam but it doesn't apply anymore. And so they left and they went, now think about this.

And we don't deny the order but you know, different times different places, different geographies, different countries, different culture. And that order was good for the time. It doesn't apply anymore.
Some of us may not actually say that in so many words out of out of the rest
bid for the promise of settlement is good. But our actions prove the opposite our actions are as if we are seeing it in so many words. And that is something which is really worth thinking about and saying that if my actions are going to

or hidden from the view of the archers, and they had not joined the battle, because the archers were on that hill, because they would have had to pass through that the pass between the two hills, and that would be lethal because you had archers on the hill. And if the cavalry charged to that and they will be decimated, so they they couldn't take the risk, but the moment they saw the archers leaving that was like, you know, prayer come true for them. And Khalid bin Walid and Nkrumah when I will lead their cavalry
through that pass, and they attack the Muslims now the Muslims were busy
with the with the booty. They didn't see this coming. So this can they came from the back.
Cavalry or infantry is death, right, it's dead.
There is no way that infantry can go. I don't think there's any case
except for one or two of the battles between the in the
100 year war between the British and the French. There are a couple of very famous battles where cavalry was uncovered is Armored Cavalry the Abuja hell and it crema economic
recovery was not there was not armored. They had their usual armor, but they were not armored as in the sense of the French knights that were completely encased in steel. But the British defeated them not with infantry, but with archers. It was the English longbow, which did the job and
completely destroyed the French knights and but that these are exceptions, and it was again archers. So here archers were out of the out of the case, this was just inventory. And that inventory also was busy with with the booty and the cavalry decimated them. They came from the back and this was like the worst nightmare come true. Cavalry or infantry is I mean, it's a sign and sealed
sign and sealed case. And to topple that what happened was that when the cavalry came, and when they heard the cavalry charges, the Horatio are running away they talked about so now the Muslims got caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. So they are the poorest cavalry on one side and they had the forage infantry who turned on came back and obviously they came back with full vengeance and when they were ashamed for having run away, and these were people who were taking away their booty of their wealth, so they came with full force.
Obviously, the result was
was, you know, region in that sense, and
most Muslims were starting get killed, some ran away.
Eventually, even the headcount was taken there 70 Sahaba lost their lives in this battle, including some very famous names
from very famous names.
The Abdullah bin Muhammad, for example, Musa
and Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib, the cousin of an uncle of Naga cousin, uncle of Orissa, Salem and is in his milk brother because they the nurse from the same same person.
These people and many others who 70 of the Sahaba were killed and butcher hate in that battle thanks to these people leaving their position. The Archers giving their place.
They were only about 12 people around left around resources so that maybe everyone had helped you these were just people who were protecting the
life of a source and Salem, Salem. His bravery is boundless. A number of cases where we've seen how brave he was, and is also expressed in through one other thing, which is that he never He never
killed anybody. He never bought weapons.
Everyone had their personal bubbles or missiles that have also had a sword. But he never killed anyone with it, he didn't attack anyone with it, including in battle. So even in this case, he was not killing anybody, but he was right there at the front. And so subzones xaba surrounded him to protect him.
Important point here to keep in mind is that both victory and defeat are tests. And in Ohio, we see both we see the victory which happened in the beginning. And then we saw the defeat that happened thereafter. And both our tests Allah subhanaw, Taala sort of was,
was just with these people. And eventually the enemy broke through right to him.
One of them threw a rock at him, and this rock
hit him in the face Subhanallah
it just got his lips, it broke his front teeth, that slashed his face. And his helmet was crushed on his head with which also, probably he had a
hairline fracture of the skull. Later on, he used to suffer from
these very terrible migraines, and probably is I mean, this is all
conjecture today, from what we know.
And some of the people have said that maybe it was viral meningitis, which affects the brain and that virus would have gotten through the hairline fracture, thanks to this. Anyway, we don't need to go there that just mentioned that in passing, but his helmet got crushed to his head.
He was carried up to on the side of the he actually fell down because he
had been over the law
of the land he carried and it was up the side of the mountain into a crevasse. And they put him there for for his protection. Because with this concussion that he got, he lost consciousness for a while. Just sort of partially lost consciousness and he fell down. And people thought he had died. People thought he had been killed.
And there was a whole rumor in saying that Mohammed Al Salam has been has been killed.
Five people gotta get on how was there? These women were there with the with the soldiers. So Fabula Delana was there and she said an ally brought water in his shield. And he poured it and the fact of the law she was watching the war. But you know, Scab wounds, face wounds, they bleed a lot. And when they pour more water, they're even more blood flowing. His teeth were broken. The all of this happened.
Despite that, so Salem was trying to organize the retreat so that it doesn't become a route that would have completely
finished off everybody. So he didn't want to do that. So he he called out and he said who will repel these people who will fight against them, whoever repels them will get janma so he's promised them Jana, to anyone who defended
defended the Muslims. So what unsavoury stood up and he fought until he died, and another one another one until seven of the unsolved, died fighting. And so really, if you think about that other Tsar, the people of Medina they aren't they earned their title of Allah Azza literally with their blood, they have their awareness around, including with their lives, says I've been Abdullah said that Ross was in Salem

He said battle goes in cycles. Sometimes, you know, we win, sometimes you win. And he said, you will see some bodies which are mutilated. Now, this is where we see sometimes. And we need to keep on reminding ourselves
that you might see somebody as very evil, and very bad, and so on. So but there is some goodness in them, which Allah subhanaw taala likes, and Allah subhanaw taala changes their destiny for them. And I was handed a classic example of that. Classic example of that,
where people like this Amarinder us an alga Alana was made of classic examples. Here, you see it was an absolute enemy of resources, he set out to kill the horrors of Solomon, he would have been very happy if he had succeeded.
Because of him, and because of his efforts, 70 Saba were killed in the Battle of the he didn't leave any stone unturned. The fact that as far as I said, I did not die at his hand was not because he didn't make enough effort, he did his best. I looked around and I wanted to protect the progress of Salem. And so he broke it protected him, but there was something good in the van. So he said, you will see some bodies, which are mutilated. He said, I did not honor that. But it doesn't bother me now that's the bravado that they're trying to say face. But obviously, he regretted the fact that people have been mutilated, because he ended the day also. One was this, you know, this goodness
with within him, which was ran into rewarded in the best possible way by giving him Islam. But also, these were people who were related. I mean, there was cousins on either side, they were uncles and nephews in some good and bad level father hands up. So you know, it is literally people who are related. And then tribal relationships. We are today we live in a strange world we live in such an isolated world that we
that we have lost the benefit of relationships. How many times for example, have you heard a wife saying, my husband's father
or the husband saying my wife's and my wife my wife's mother, there is a relationship with you. We don't say Baba or or Amma or something you don't say mother or father. Or homie or or Abby, you don't say you know, my father in law, my mother in law has a relationship with you know, we move it our, my wife does my husband's that.
So and so's cousin. So and so's nephew. I mean, that's one so maybe your husband and have you also has a relationship with you.
Your husband, your wife's
nephew or niece has a relationship with you. But we weren't used to this, we weren't used to speaking like this, because we have got used to these nuclear families, this very western concept of, of individual individualism.
One of the results of that is loneliness, and, and suicide and depression. But anyway, the point here is that this was not the case of the adults. This is not the case of Muslims. And when I was growing up, this was not the case with us. I mean, we never said talked about, I never heard my father saying my mother's my father saying about the mother, her father, her mother, never, never not in their entire lives. If they ever say something like this, on either side, it was always the relationship with you.
So anyway, the long and short of it is in when we when you look at a
comment, think about it from that context of tribal loyalty is family loyalty. These were serious things. These were serious things. They believed in them. They
They respected and honored him. So he said they I have not ordered this but then he was safe facing saving ways and grabado. So he said, Well, I don't care about obviously he cared enough to say.

And that what took away the courage is since sins are debilitated, right, the mere mask for COVID we become so used to that, even when there is no cold war on with masks looking stupid. But when it comes to,
to two sins, what is the mask? What is the mask to protect us from sins, right? Think about that. Be we be going sins openly, we accept it. Whereas when other people accept, do commit sins, we make justifications for them. Sins are debilitating, just like COVID takes away your energy and your energy you will become extremely tired and sleepy all the time. And so that's what things do. Do they take away your energy take away your courage, they take away your your fortitude and your perseverance. And Allah is saying, Listen, you run away because of the sins that you've committed. So there was fear in your heart, there was no pure courage that had departed because you ran away
because you disputed amongst yourselves. So unless rather than but but Allah has forgiven those people, and surely allies of forgiving and most possible, we ask Allah Samantha for his
forgiveness and for His mercy. And Inshallah, we ask Allah subhanaw taala to enable us to learn from these sessions and to reflect on our own lives very, very important for us to reflect on on our own lives, the sort of the long run,
which I recited for you, when I was monitor that
said, if he caused one distressed after another,
again, the key here is two things. One is, of course, to teach us to be related to him. And also Allah said, not to grieve what left what went was your color we could not have got you what you got, you will not have missed. So, to become rowdy to become
