In Al Hamdulillah

Hamden

00:01:31 --> 00:01:33

forgiven Mubarak and Fie

00:01:40 --> 00:01:43

Alhamdulillah wa salatu wa salam O Allah azza

00:01:46 --> 00:01:50

wa jal he was happy he was watching he woman wala

00:01:54 --> 00:01:56

fanastic Alhaji skateable la

00:01:59 --> 00:02:03

hiral Have you heard the Mohammedan Solow Model and he was seldom

00:02:06 --> 00:02:11

wash more data to have a coup d'etat in VEDA

00:02:13 --> 00:02:13

kulu

00:02:16 --> 00:02:18

wakulla de la Latin for now

00:02:20 --> 00:02:22

are you allowed to the Kieron

00:02:23 --> 00:02:29

washwater say that Salaam wa Alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

00:02:32 --> 00:02:36

To our respected non Muslim guests,

00:02:38 --> 00:02:40

we ask that your

00:02:41 --> 00:02:43

your hearts and your mind's

00:02:44 --> 00:02:45

be opened

00:02:47 --> 00:02:52

and accessible to this message into this proposition.

00:03:01 --> 00:03:07

Before proceeding, I'd like to just reiterate a couple of things that my brother related.

00:03:15 --> 00:03:18

Number one, we Muslims

00:03:19 --> 00:03:21

should keep in mind that

00:03:23 --> 00:03:26

the most important tool

00:03:27 --> 00:03:29

for propagating Islam or for

00:03:31 --> 00:03:38

disseminating the Islamic message, the most important to his character, behavior.

00:03:40 --> 00:03:52

So it doesn't matter what we say, doesn't matter about the pamphlets and the books and the lectures. That's not important. That's not the main tool. The main tool is your behavior.

00:03:53 --> 00:04:02

And if you don't behave right, if your character is incorrect, then you are blocking the way

00:04:04 --> 00:04:06

you're giving the wrong message.

00:04:07 --> 00:04:08

And in many cases,

00:04:11 --> 00:04:14

the Muslim neighbor, the Muslim coworker,

00:04:17 --> 00:04:18

the Muslim colleague,

00:04:20 --> 00:04:32

they are the ones that are blocking the way for people understanding Islam, because people are getting confused. They are confusing Muslims with Islam.

00:04:34 --> 00:04:42

And part of us uncovering the treasure sometimes means moving Muslims out of the way.

00:04:46 --> 00:04:52

So we need to while we have this opportunity, and this responsibility, we need to

00:04:54 --> 00:04:55

beyond the best behavior.

00:04:58 --> 00:04:59

Now I want to remind the people here that

00:05:03 --> 00:05:13

I'm not an entertainer, I didn't come here to entertain the Muslims. And I didn't come here to entertain the other people that came here.

00:05:14 --> 00:05:17

I'm not Michael Jackson, and this is not thriller.

00:05:22 --> 00:05:27

As we mentioned last night, this is serious business.

00:05:28 --> 00:05:37

We are attempting to convey serious information, information that in some cases,

00:05:39 --> 00:05:49

causes the individual to make a choice to change, alter their orientation in life, and that's serious.

00:05:51 --> 00:05:54

So we Muslims, we have to be very careful.

00:05:57 --> 00:06:01

So that when it comes time for a person to ask a question,

00:06:05 --> 00:06:13

when that question is asked, I am trying my best to respond to it in a dignified way.

00:06:14 --> 00:06:22

And I have to use my discretion how to do so in the most respectful, dignified, effective way.

00:06:25 --> 00:06:57

But when the answer comes, or the question comes, there shouldn't be any responses from the Muslims. You don't need to clap. You don't need to tap beer. You don't need to laugh, because that's incorrect behavior. Let's just allow a person to ask the question, How silly it might sound to us. And let me respond, how effective or not effective as it might appear. But we Muslims just

00:06:58 --> 00:07:00

hold on to our behavior.

00:07:09 --> 00:07:13

Some of the most valuable things in this world

00:07:15 --> 00:07:17

are deep inside the earth.

00:07:21 --> 00:07:23

And in order for us to acquire them,

00:07:25 --> 00:07:30

these things have to be mined, they have to be extracted.

00:07:32 --> 00:07:34

Things like diamonds,

00:07:36 --> 00:07:36

gold,

00:07:38 --> 00:07:39

oil,

00:07:40 --> 00:07:42

and precious jewels

00:07:43 --> 00:07:45

must be discovered.

00:07:47 --> 00:07:49

And then they must be uncovered

00:07:51 --> 00:07:53

and extracted for our use.

00:07:55 --> 00:08:01

And even after extracting these valuable things from the earth,

00:08:03 --> 00:08:08

or from the water, we must then subject them

00:08:09 --> 00:08:13

to refinement before we can use them.

00:08:15 --> 00:08:20

Even after extracting these valuable things from the earth or from the water,

00:08:21 --> 00:08:27

we must then subject them to refinement before we can use them.

00:08:29 --> 00:08:31

Yet these are just

00:08:32 --> 00:08:33

materials,

00:08:36 --> 00:08:37

things

00:08:38 --> 00:08:39

and objects

00:08:40 --> 00:08:45

that have a transitory value, and utility.

00:08:49 --> 00:08:55

The most valuable and important resources that we human beings possess

00:08:56 --> 00:08:58

AI inside of us

00:09:00 --> 00:09:02

such as our brains,

00:09:03 --> 00:09:05

which allow us to think

00:09:06 --> 00:09:09

our eyes that allow us to see

00:09:11 --> 00:09:14

our tongue that allows us to speak

00:09:16 --> 00:09:20

our lungs that allow us to breathe our hearts

00:09:21 --> 00:09:26

which a which it stopped. If it was stopped beating, we would die immediately.

00:09:28 --> 00:09:33

Our kidneys that purified the body, our stomachs,

00:09:34 --> 00:09:36

our hands,

00:09:37 --> 00:09:38

our feet.

00:09:40 --> 00:09:42

our nervous system,

00:09:43 --> 00:09:45

our skeletal system,

00:09:46 --> 00:09:57

our respiratory system, our digestive system, our cerebral system, all of this which we have been given

00:09:58 --> 00:09:59

for free

00:10:07 --> 00:10:08

outside of us,

00:10:09 --> 00:10:12

we also have ecosystems,

00:10:15 --> 00:10:17

the ecosystems of the earth,

00:10:18 --> 00:10:24

the oceans, the rivers, the mountains, the valleys,

00:10:25 --> 00:10:29

the deserts and the jungles, the wind and the rain,

00:10:31 --> 00:10:37

the solar and lunar influences, the geography and the topography of the earth.

00:10:38 --> 00:10:42

All of this, we have been given without asking.

00:10:45 --> 00:10:53

Then there is the animal kingdom, the insects, the birds, the fish, the bacteria,

00:10:54 --> 00:10:58

the microscopic life systems that are hidden from us,

00:10:59 --> 00:11:01

hidden from us,

00:11:03 --> 00:11:13

and the world of germs and microbes, that affect us, all of this, we have been given without asking.

00:11:15 --> 00:11:23

In the outer space, there is our solar system, our galaxy, clusters of galaxies,

00:11:25 --> 00:11:40

Nebula of clusters, and literally billions of galaxies in outer space, some of which are 700,000 billion light years away,

00:11:41 --> 00:11:45

all of this, we have been given without asking,

00:11:48 --> 00:11:58

the phenomena of all of this is the fact that it is all organized in such a way that it can be studied,

00:11:59 --> 00:12:14

manipulated, and utilized for us human beings to benefit from, for us human beings, to control much of the environment, which is around us.

00:12:15 --> 00:12:20

And all of this, we have been given without asking.

00:12:22 --> 00:12:30

Now returning back to the subject of human beings, there is still yet another aspect of our psychology

00:12:31 --> 00:12:41

that distinguishes us from all other creatures. This is the entity which is called the intellect.

00:12:45 --> 00:12:48

Because of our intellectual capacity,

00:12:49 --> 00:12:51

we can calculate

00:12:53 --> 00:13:00

control, manipulate, study, research,

00:13:01 --> 00:13:01

compute,

00:13:03 --> 00:13:04

measure,

00:13:05 --> 00:13:06

understand,

00:13:07 --> 00:13:09

perceive, plan,

00:13:11 --> 00:13:11

determine,

00:13:12 --> 00:13:15

dictate, organize,

00:13:17 --> 00:13:23

execute, and administrate nearly everything in our environment.

00:13:25 --> 00:13:28

And all of this, we have been given

00:13:29 --> 00:13:30

without asking,

00:13:33 --> 00:13:44

because of intellectual capacity, we human beings have inherited a tremendous responsibility,

00:13:46 --> 00:13:50

a responsibility of moral leadership,

00:13:53 --> 00:13:58

leadership of everything and everyone that is on this planet,

00:14:02 --> 00:14:03

leadership

00:14:04 --> 00:14:11

of everything and everyone which surrounds this planet.

00:14:13 --> 00:14:14

And all of this

00:14:15 --> 00:14:18

we have been given without asking.

00:14:22 --> 00:14:24

We are responsible for our families,

00:14:25 --> 00:14:27

our communities,

00:14:28 --> 00:14:29

our societies,

00:14:31 --> 00:14:38

our governments, and inevitably, we are responsible for the international community.

00:14:40 --> 00:14:44

But our most direct responsibility is over

00:14:45 --> 00:14:46

ourselves.

00:14:47 --> 00:14:48

And this too,

00:14:50 --> 00:14:53

we have been given without asking

00:14:56 --> 00:14:59

in our attempt to understand the world

00:15:01 --> 00:15:06

We as individuals often forget ourselves,

00:15:14 --> 00:15:16

we also do not consider

00:15:17 --> 00:15:18

how we got to this world

00:15:20 --> 00:15:28

and that we only have a limited period of time in this world, and finally,

00:15:31 --> 00:15:39

we may not have reconciled within that period of time, the issue of death,

00:15:42 --> 00:15:44

the issue of death,

00:15:46 --> 00:15:47

which is a certainty

00:15:49 --> 00:15:52

and what will definitely happen

00:15:53 --> 00:15:54

after here,

00:15:55 --> 00:15:57

he said that virtually,

00:16:01 --> 00:16:04

you should know that the life of this world

00:16:08 --> 00:16:11

is blood, sport

00:16:12 --> 00:16:13

and amusement.

00:16:15 --> 00:16:18

And the competition between human beings for

00:16:19 --> 00:16:21

the piling up of

00:16:22 --> 00:16:25

and the development of and possession of

00:16:27 --> 00:16:29

material things,

00:16:30 --> 00:16:31

children,

00:16:35 --> 00:16:37

wives and husbands

00:16:39 --> 00:16:41

well chilled land

00:16:42 --> 00:16:49

houses of which you delight, commerce, businesses,

00:16:52 --> 00:16:54

but the life of this world

00:16:56 --> 00:16:57

is better.

00:17:10 --> 00:17:11

And it would be better

00:17:12 --> 00:17:14

if we human beings

00:17:16 --> 00:17:18

were to compete with one another

00:17:21 --> 00:17:26

for the forgiveness and mercy of our Lord.

00:17:31 --> 00:17:33

And that would be better in our interests.

00:17:46 --> 00:17:51

The answers to the most important questions

00:17:54 --> 00:17:56

remain hidden and unanswered for us.

00:18:01 --> 00:18:07

Therefore, the meaning and the objective of life also remains hidden.

00:18:08 --> 00:18:11

This is a key

00:18:12 --> 00:18:13

to the treasure.

00:18:18 --> 00:18:20

That is why we need tools

00:18:22 --> 00:18:23

to accomplish our aims

00:18:25 --> 00:18:31

and that is why we need education to understand different systems within life.

00:18:34 --> 00:18:35

This

00:18:36 --> 00:18:37

is a key

00:18:38 --> 00:18:39

to the treasure.

00:18:44 --> 00:18:46

There are things that we can learn

00:18:47 --> 00:18:48

in the classroom.

00:18:50 --> 00:18:54

And there are things that we can learn from experience.

00:18:56 --> 00:19:02

But the most powerful lessons are those that are learned from inspiration.

00:19:05 --> 00:19:09

This is a key to the treasure.

00:19:12 --> 00:19:15

Inspiration is not a commodity.

00:19:16 --> 00:19:21

Inspiration is not something that we should take for granted.

00:19:23 --> 00:19:36

Therefore inspiration is not readily available and easily accessible to everyone. Inspiration is something that we have to work, look for. To obtain.

00:19:40 --> 00:19:46

Inspiration is special and inspiration is rare.

00:19:47 --> 00:19:52

Inspiration is sacred and inspiration

00:19:53 --> 00:19:54

is precious

00:19:56 --> 00:19:59

and we have to seize the opportunity

00:20:04 --> 00:20:12

like diamonds, gold, and precious metals, inspiration must be looked for,

00:20:13 --> 00:20:16

discovered, and then extracted.

00:20:17 --> 00:20:21

Inspiration is one of the treasures of this world

00:20:25 --> 00:20:26

that needs to be discovered,

00:20:28 --> 00:20:30

and then needs to be uncovered.

00:20:37 --> 00:20:45

We have to seize the opportunity to acquire inspiration, when it comes.

00:20:51 --> 00:20:53

prophets, messengers,

00:20:54 --> 00:20:56

peace be upon all of them.

00:20:57 --> 00:21:08

And those following them have been pointing to this treasure throughout the period of man's existence on this planet.

00:21:11 --> 00:21:15

But most human beings do not want to listen.

00:21:19 --> 00:21:21

Most human beings

00:21:22 --> 00:21:23

do not

00:21:26 --> 00:21:26

pay attention,

00:21:29 --> 00:21:34

we have to seize the opportunity, when it comes.

00:21:36 --> 00:21:38

The creator of this world

00:21:39 --> 00:21:43

has sent this treasure of inspiration

00:21:46 --> 00:21:48

to us in the form

00:21:49 --> 00:21:50

of Revelation.

00:21:53 --> 00:21:56

And in the form of legislation,

00:21:59 --> 00:22:07

not a revelation that I delivered to you or that you delivered to someone else. But a divine revelation is

00:22:08 --> 00:22:20

not a legislation that is imposed upon us by a government, by a constitution, but a divine legislation.

00:22:23 --> 00:22:24

And it's our choice

00:22:28 --> 00:22:40

to decide whether we want to follow that revelation, whether we want to accept that inspiration, whether we want to conform to that legislation.

00:22:43 --> 00:23:00

every prophet, and every messenger, peace be upon all of them, brought a stage of that inspiration, a stage of that revelation, and a stage of that divine legislation.

00:23:03 --> 00:23:18

They brought such inspiration and revelation and registers and legislation to the human beings of that time, and that place under those conditions which they came.

00:23:20 --> 00:23:21

It's our choice

00:23:23 --> 00:23:24

to decide

00:23:25 --> 00:23:27

whether we want to accept

00:23:28 --> 00:23:34

that inspiration, that revelation and that legislation,

00:23:35 --> 00:23:38

the last and final prophet and messenger

00:23:40 --> 00:23:48

peace be upon him, to the human beings. His name is Mohammed,

00:23:49 --> 00:23:50

the son of Abdullah

00:23:52 --> 00:23:56

Peace and blessings of Almighty God be upon him.

00:23:58 --> 00:24:19

And he has been given the perfected and preserved inspiration and divine revelation, which the world today is divinely which for the world today is the divinely ordained legislation

00:24:20 --> 00:24:22

for the whole of the world

00:24:23 --> 00:24:26

wherever the human beings reside,

00:24:27 --> 00:24:33

but it's our choice to decide whether we want to accept

00:24:34 --> 00:24:39

or conform to that final inspiration,

00:24:40 --> 00:24:43

Revelation and legislation.

00:24:46 --> 00:24:51

It's up to us whether we want to accept this treasure

00:24:54 --> 00:24:56

and this treasure is called

00:24:58 --> 00:24:58

Islam

00:25:02 --> 00:25:03

Now the word Islam

00:25:05 --> 00:25:10

in the Arabic language has a specific meaning.

00:25:12 --> 00:25:14

It has a literary meaning.

00:25:16 --> 00:25:17

It also has a

00:25:18 --> 00:25:20

spiritual meaning.

00:25:22 --> 00:25:24

The literary meaning of Islam

00:25:26 --> 00:25:27

is submission,

00:25:29 --> 00:25:30

surrender,

00:25:33 --> 00:25:34

acceptance,

00:25:35 --> 00:25:37

conformance

00:25:38 --> 00:25:45

it means submission, surrender, acceptance and conformance

00:25:46 --> 00:25:47

to what the Creator

00:25:49 --> 00:25:52

has legislated for the human beings.

00:25:55 --> 00:26:01

Now, some people may refer to this treasure Islam as a religion.

00:26:03 --> 00:26:06

And others may call this treasure,

00:26:07 --> 00:26:08

a way of life.

00:26:10 --> 00:26:11

In fact,

00:26:12 --> 00:26:14

it is a complete

00:26:15 --> 00:26:17

and thorough system

00:26:18 --> 00:26:23

that covers every aspect of what we call life.

00:26:24 --> 00:26:35

But it's our choice, whether we want to accept this treasure, it's our choice, whether we want to accept this system of life.

00:26:38 --> 00:26:42

Islam is a system of for submission.

00:26:43 --> 00:26:45

submission to whom

00:26:47 --> 00:26:49

the Creator of the heavens in the earth.

00:26:51 --> 00:26:53

Islam is a system

00:26:56 --> 00:27:19

which has and which means and which requires absolute adherence to monotheism. And what does that mean monotheism it means recognizing, conforming, and worshiping Absolutely. One God, one creator,

00:27:20 --> 00:27:23

one sovereign, for this whole world.

00:27:25 --> 00:27:27

It means giving up

00:27:28 --> 00:27:30

what we think

00:27:31 --> 00:27:37

giving up our opinions, giving up our feelings,

00:27:38 --> 00:27:41

giving up our inclinations,

00:27:42 --> 00:27:46

surrendering our personal choices,

00:27:48 --> 00:27:49

and preferring

00:27:51 --> 00:27:54

the submission and the surrender to Almighty God.

00:27:57 --> 00:27:58

It means

00:27:59 --> 00:28:00

understanding,

00:28:02 --> 00:28:06

listening, responding to the Word of God,

00:28:08 --> 00:28:09

and after that

00:28:11 --> 00:28:11

obey.

00:28:13 --> 00:28:27

Because what good would it be for a person to say, I hear? I know, I understand. But after that, they disobey and they rebel.

00:28:31 --> 00:28:32

In our society,

00:28:34 --> 00:28:47

the person that understands the law, he is understands acknowledges the law and the rules, but doesn't obey and rebels.

00:28:49 --> 00:28:51

They find themselves in court.

00:28:54 --> 00:28:57

They find themselves under indictment.

00:28:58 --> 00:29:06

They find themselves under judgment. And in many cases, they find themselves under punishment.

00:29:10 --> 00:29:26

Because when we understand that there's a constitution, when we understand that there is a law, when we understand there is a system. When we understand that there is legislation, it requires obedience.

00:29:27 --> 00:29:31

But in the former case, it's obedience to other human beings.

00:29:33 --> 00:29:37

In this case, its obedience to the Creator of the heavens and the earth.

00:29:39 --> 00:29:44

It also includes rejecting and avoiding

00:29:46 --> 00:29:49

every kind of immorality and corruption

00:29:51 --> 00:29:55

every kind of paganism and polytheism.

00:29:57 --> 00:29:59

And every avenue and branch

00:30:00 --> 00:30:01

connected to

00:30:02 --> 00:30:09

immorality, corruption, paganism, and polytheism. This is what

00:30:10 --> 00:30:15

Islam means. And to capture the treasure

00:30:17 --> 00:30:19

to uncover the treasure,

00:30:20 --> 00:30:23

one has to accept that definition.

00:30:26 --> 00:30:27

Islam

00:30:30 --> 00:30:32

is a belief system,

00:30:36 --> 00:30:37

a belief system,

00:30:39 --> 00:30:50

that those who follow it, who's subscribed to it, who call themselves Muslims, we say we believe in Almighty God. Absolutely.

00:30:54 --> 00:30:59

We believe in his prophets and messengers. Absolutely.

00:31:00 --> 00:31:13

We believe in all the books that were sent, revealed to those prophets and messengers, we believe in the angels that will create it

00:31:14 --> 00:31:16

as intermediaries.

00:31:18 --> 00:31:23

Angels that were created to perform specific jobs,

00:31:25 --> 00:31:28

we believe in them because they are mentioned.

00:31:31 --> 00:31:32

We believe

00:31:33 --> 00:31:37

in the Day of Judgment, we believe that a time will come

00:31:38 --> 00:31:50

when everyone will see the evidence of what they have done in this short period of time that we call the life of a human being.

00:31:51 --> 00:31:55

We believe that everything has been measured.

00:31:57 --> 00:32:00

Everything has been decreed.

00:32:01 --> 00:32:04

Not a leaf falls from a tree.

00:32:06 --> 00:32:10

Not a drop of rain falls from the sky.

00:32:12 --> 00:32:22

Not a child is born, nor a child aborted. Not a human being lives, not a human being dies. But it has already been written.

00:32:25 --> 00:32:26

Women believe

00:32:28 --> 00:32:30

in the resurrection after death.

00:32:33 --> 00:32:45

Because we see every season, how the earth becomes barren, no leaves, no trees, no vegetation. And then we see

00:32:47 --> 00:32:48

the rain comes in the spring.

00:32:50 --> 00:32:52

And we see the grass come back.

00:32:53 --> 00:33:10

The leaves come back, the flowers come back, the vegetation comes back, we see the rejuvenation of the earth, and the one that is able to do that is able to rejuvenate and give us back life after we are dead.

00:33:13 --> 00:33:16

Islam as a system of Russia,

00:33:18 --> 00:33:31

because worship means prescribed actions. It's not enough for a person simply to say I believe, without actions.

00:33:34 --> 00:33:35

Everyone

00:33:36 --> 00:33:42

expects from another one, the fulfilment of contracts.

00:33:44 --> 00:33:52

A man and a woman get married. And they have entered a contract of faith. But that's not enough.

00:33:55 --> 00:34:00

are looking to see the fulfillment through actions.

00:34:05 --> 00:34:18

All of us signed contracts, to enter employment, to get education. And we have faith that we're going to complete it. But that's not enough.

00:34:19 --> 00:34:33

You have to study in order to graduate and you got to work and get to work every day in order to get paid. Why? Because faith without actions is not enough.

00:34:35 --> 00:34:37

So Islam as a system of worship,

00:34:39 --> 00:34:59

is how we fulfill what we say we believe. Therefore every Muslim makes the statement that there is none to be worshipped except the creator one and Absolutely. And every Muslim makes the statement, the acknowledgement that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah

00:35:00 --> 00:35:05

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you. And that is the first act of worship.

00:35:06 --> 00:35:12

Every Muslim accepts the responsibility of praying five times a day.

00:35:14 --> 00:35:18

Now, you might say to yourself, that's a little bit extreme.

00:35:20 --> 00:35:25

Why would God need us to pray five times a day?

00:35:29 --> 00:35:35

Well, first of all, our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him said something very simple.

00:35:37 --> 00:35:39

He said that if any one of you

00:35:40 --> 00:35:59

had a stream, or a river, in front of their house, and you went down to it, and bathed in it, or swam in it five times a day, would there be any dirt on you? The answer, the prayer for us is like that stream.

00:36:03 --> 00:36:24

It doesn't mean that a Muslim doesn't make mistakes, or commit sins, or go in error. It doesn't mean that. But it means that if they pray five times a day, if they return back to that stream, and that prayer five times a day, there will be less chance of sin, corruption and error.

00:36:27 --> 00:36:31

We Muslims accept the responsibility

00:36:32 --> 00:36:33

of Zakah.

00:36:35 --> 00:36:42

Taking a portion of what we earn, taking a portion of what we save,

00:36:44 --> 00:36:52

and that portion, that remains that we do not consume. We pay a portion of that,

00:36:53 --> 00:37:00

to those who are less fortunate than we are. That's a social responsibility. It's called zeca.

00:37:02 --> 00:37:05

It is the third act of worship.

00:37:06 --> 00:37:09

We Muslims fast, we accept

00:37:10 --> 00:37:19

the responsibility of fasting during the month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the lunar calendar.

00:37:21 --> 00:37:28

We didn't determine too fast during Ramadan, we were ordered to fast during Ramadan, and we accepted

00:37:29 --> 00:37:34

because this is the month that the Quran was revealed.

00:37:36 --> 00:37:56

And this is the month that we recite the Quran more than any other month, it is the month that we spend more in charity than any other month. It is the month that we pray more than any other month. And through doing so we develop self control and discipline.

00:37:58 --> 00:38:00

It's a month of blessings.

00:38:02 --> 00:38:04

It's a month of discipline.

00:38:06 --> 00:38:08

And it is the fourth act of worship.

00:38:10 --> 00:38:16

And we Muslims accept the responsibility of going to Mecca.

00:38:19 --> 00:38:21

A city which is in the desert,

00:38:23 --> 00:38:25

and the Arabian Peninsula.

00:38:26 --> 00:38:29

And we don't go there on vacation.

00:38:30 --> 00:38:46

We don't go there to sun and fun and relax and have a good time. No, we go there because Abraham was ordered by God peace be upon him to build a house of worship there.

00:38:48 --> 00:38:55

And after he finished building that house of worship, with his son is my em. Peace be upon both of them.

00:38:57 --> 00:38:58

That house

00:38:59 --> 00:39:06

was built in the shape of a cube. And that's why in Arabic it's called Kava

00:39:10 --> 00:39:11

It is called Kava.

00:39:13 --> 00:39:16

And so all the people of Abraham,

00:39:18 --> 00:39:32

all the people of Muhammad Sallallahu wasallam. All the people of monotheistic belief, have been ordered once in their life. Go to that city

00:39:34 --> 00:39:36

and go around that house.

00:39:37 --> 00:39:53

It is not a house which God lives in. Because God doesn't live cannot live in any house. God cannot be restricted to a house. But it is the house of God because God told Abraham to build it.

00:39:55 --> 00:39:59

And the human beings come from every place in the earth.

00:40:00 --> 00:40:01

Colors,

00:40:02 --> 00:40:31

backgrounds, classes, and they go around that house, asking for God for forgiveness and mercy, and praising that God of Abraham. So the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him, he taught us and he ordered us to complete that tradition of Abraham, and to go to Mecca, once in our life, and that is the fifth act of worship.

00:40:34 --> 00:40:36

Now, this belief system,

00:40:37 --> 00:40:53

and this system of worship, that is not all of what Islam this treasure, is, because if that was the case, it would be quite easy for all of us to fulfill and capture the treasure.

00:40:54 --> 00:41:00

But that's not all it is, all of those things, prepare us,

00:41:02 --> 00:41:04

give us the development.

00:41:06 --> 00:41:09

It prepares us to do the other things,

00:41:10 --> 00:41:19

which is the purpose of us being Muslim. And this is how we are able to show the treasure to others.

00:41:22 --> 00:41:32

This belief system, and this system of worship is there to develop and refine our character.

00:41:35 --> 00:41:40

So that a real Muslim, a sincere Muslim has character

00:41:43 --> 00:41:49

that prevents them from lying, cheating, stealing, fornicating, adultery,

00:41:51 --> 00:41:55

bearing false witness, slandering, lively,

00:41:56 --> 00:41:57

cursing,

00:41:59 --> 00:42:01

drinking, drugging,

00:42:03 --> 00:42:06

deceiving, because all of those

00:42:08 --> 00:42:09

of the ills

00:42:10 --> 00:42:11

of the character

00:42:15 --> 00:42:25

this system of worship and this belief system, developed through us the idea of morality, and what is morality.

00:42:26 --> 00:42:29

Spike Lee said, do the right thing.

00:42:34 --> 00:42:36

That's what morality is.

00:42:37 --> 00:42:39

morality is following the rules.

00:42:41 --> 00:42:42

Doing the right thing

00:42:43 --> 00:42:50

at the right time, at the right place for everybody being upright and your conduct,

00:42:52 --> 00:43:04

morality, towards God, morality towards the human beings morality towards yourself, being clean, being decent, being dignified, that's morality,

00:43:06 --> 00:43:34

this belief system, and this system of worship teaches us tolerance for other human beings. Now, what is tolerance? It means my ability to be patient, and understand and bear with other people's ideas, other people's lifestyles, other people's persuasions, and even when they disrespect me,

00:43:37 --> 00:43:44

even when they abused me, still I should have a certain amount of tolerance.

00:43:48 --> 00:43:54

This system of worship and this belief system teaches us to have equity.

00:43:56 --> 00:44:00

Equity means seeing everybody else just like I am

00:44:04 --> 00:44:14

looking at another man, looking at another woman, another human being just like I am offering them respect.

00:44:15 --> 00:44:17

Just like I want

00:44:19 --> 00:44:30

equity, dealing in fairness, not cheating, not deceiving, being equitable, removing prejudice,

00:44:32 --> 00:44:39

removing preconditioning removing hatred, enmity,

00:44:40 --> 00:44:41

equity,

00:44:43 --> 00:44:49

this belief system and this system of worship should develop inside of us moderation.

00:44:50 --> 00:44:59

Now, what is moderation, moderation means even taking the middle costs, even in the things that are good, you know

00:45:00 --> 00:45:03

too much money is no good.

00:45:06 --> 00:45:09

Too much food is gluttony.

00:45:13 --> 00:45:22

Too many clothes, too many cars, too much desires, too much of the good things is still no good.

00:45:25 --> 00:45:32

This system teaches us to enjoy life with moderation. Take the middle course.

00:45:33 --> 00:45:36

This belief system and system of worship

00:45:38 --> 00:45:43

teaches us breeds inside of us a sense of dignity.

00:45:45 --> 00:46:12

and dignity is the crown of the character when you got dignity. When you walk into a room, people know that you're dignified, how you speak, how you act, how you sit, how you address people, that you have the ability to distinguish old people from young people, you know how to talk to educated people, you know how to talk to people in the street, and all of them can see and witness your dignity.

00:46:13 --> 00:46:23

Dig dignity is something that other people see in you, not something that you necessarily see in yourself.

00:46:24 --> 00:46:32

This belief system and system of worship teaches us to cooperate with other believers

00:46:33 --> 00:46:48

and to cooperate with other human beings in doing what is good to accomplish the aim of life. This belief system and system of worship teaches us respect for ourselves,

00:46:49 --> 00:46:53

respect for all other human beings.

00:46:54 --> 00:46:56

This belief system

00:46:58 --> 00:47:00

teaches us justice.

00:47:03 --> 00:47:07

Justice means balance.

00:47:09 --> 00:47:12

justice means what is right, what is fair.

00:47:14 --> 00:47:18

Justice, not just us, but justice.

00:47:21 --> 00:47:38

This system of worship and this belief system teaches us progress. It promises us progress and what is progress. Progress is not technology and progress is not science. Progress is when you

00:47:39 --> 00:47:41

move towards

00:47:42 --> 00:47:49

earning the mercy, the forgiveness, the need is towards your Lord.

00:47:50 --> 00:48:00

When you upgrade yourself in character, this is when civilization This is when the human being is making progress.

00:48:04 --> 00:48:10

This belief system and the system of worship leads us to success.

00:48:11 --> 00:48:15

It is not a success. In a material sense.

00:48:16 --> 00:48:41

It is not a success in a sense of popularity. It's a success, which means having a wholesome, complete, comprehensive, clean, beautiful, balanced character demeanor in the sight of God. That is real success.

00:48:42 --> 00:48:45

I want my brother to recite

00:48:47 --> 00:48:49

from the Quran

00:48:50 --> 00:48:56

because the Quran has pointed this out to us in a special sutra which is called for con.

00:48:58 --> 00:49:03

Can you read those last from 61 to 72? Brother please.

00:49:11 --> 00:49:19

Brother, if you recited verse by verse, what I'll do is after you cite one verse, Then I'll translate for them like that.

00:50:07 --> 00:50:09

That verse it says,

00:50:10 --> 00:50:13

bless it is he Almighty God,

00:50:16 --> 00:50:18

who provided us with

00:50:19 --> 00:50:21

the constellations

00:50:25 --> 00:50:29

which contains the sun as a blazing light.

00:50:31 --> 00:50:36

And also contains the moon with a light, which is reflected.

00:51:25 --> 00:51:30

See, who cause, the night and the day

00:51:32 --> 00:51:33

to

00:51:34 --> 00:51:40

be in succession of one another, in order that those who might have the will,

00:51:41 --> 00:51:44

to be grateful, could be grateful,

00:51:59 --> 00:52:00

worried,

00:52:10 --> 00:52:11

and the servants

00:52:13 --> 00:52:36

of the Creator, who is the Most Merciful, the servants of the Most Merciful of those who walk on the earth, in humility, not arrogantly. And even when ignorant people address them, they say to them, a word of peace.

00:52:51 --> 00:52:56

Those who are constantly on a regular basis, making a bad

00:52:57 --> 00:52:59

worshipping the Lord

00:53:01 --> 00:53:06

in prostration, and standing in different positions.

00:53:36 --> 00:53:43

Those who asked the creator Oh my Lord, please cause us

00:53:44 --> 00:53:46

to Passover

00:53:48 --> 00:53:51

cause us to avoid the Hellfire,

00:53:53 --> 00:54:03

the punishment of the Hellfire, surely it is a punishment that is humiliating for those who are unfortunate to go there

00:54:15 --> 00:54:16

definitely

00:54:18 --> 00:54:20

is an hour of judgment

00:54:21 --> 00:54:27

that is of no doubt which everyone will have to endure.

00:54:42 --> 00:54:44

They are those that when they spend,

00:54:45 --> 00:54:48

they are not excessive. But

00:54:49 --> 00:54:51

there is they are moderate.

00:54:53 --> 00:54:59

They don't go to the extreme end giving and they don't go to the extreme in home.

00:55:08 --> 00:55:14

But they observe the middle path between those two extremes.

00:55:25 --> 00:55:39

And they are those who do not call upon, they do not recognize, they do not conform to, they do not obey or submit to anyone along with their Lord.

00:55:55 --> 00:55:59

Not take the life of any human being,

00:56:00 --> 00:56:01

except

00:56:02 --> 00:56:09

by virtue of and justification of divine legislation, which is the truth.

00:56:10 --> 00:56:20

They do not take the life of anyone except by virtue of the truth supported by divine legislation.

00:56:25 --> 00:56:29

And they are not of those people that fall in a cave or commit adultery.

00:56:38 --> 00:56:46

Surely those people that engage in fornication and adultery, this is a destruction and a corruption for them.

00:57:16 --> 00:57:16

You

00:57:28 --> 00:57:30

there are those who

00:57:32 --> 00:57:40

avoid the punishment on the Day of Judgment virtually that punishment itself is unbearable.

00:57:54 --> 00:58:04

Except those people who repent and after they repent, they do right actions based upon beliefs

00:58:20 --> 00:58:30

who repent and do good actions according to believe their Lord will exchange the worst of their deeds for good ones.

00:58:38 --> 00:58:43

Surely Allah is all forgiving, Most Merciful.

00:58:53 --> 00:58:57

And whoever repents and does good actions.

00:59:08 --> 00:59:15

Certainly, his or her repentance will be accepted by God as a pure repentance.

00:59:23 --> 00:59:29

And people who themselves they don't say words of slander

00:59:39 --> 00:59:45

when they pass by futility, foolishness, they pass by it

00:59:46 --> 00:59:49

with nobility and tolerance.

01:00:04 --> 01:00:13

There are those who when they hear the verses of their Lord rehearsed, they do not droop down.

01:00:14 --> 01:00:21

They are not disinterested in it. They don't disregard it, but they are attentive towards it.

01:00:43 --> 01:00:47

They don't respond to it as the deaf and dumb.

01:00:52 --> 01:00:55

They are brothers and sisters in faith

01:00:57 --> 01:01:20

and respected guests. those verses will recite it because I wanted to give full support of the characteristics that I spoke to you about, of which Islam as a belief system, and Islam as a system of worship, what it cultivates, I say that it cultivates a system of values,

01:01:21 --> 01:01:34

character, morality, tolerance, equity, moderation, dignity, cooperation, respect, justice, progress, success.

01:01:40 --> 01:01:44

My respected non Muslims guess

01:01:47 --> 01:01:48

we have done our best

01:01:50 --> 01:01:51

to uncover

01:01:52 --> 01:01:55

the treasure of Islam for you.

01:01:58 --> 01:02:03

We have done our best to identify this treasure for you.

01:02:05 --> 01:02:07

You are invited

01:02:08 --> 01:02:10

to inherit this treasure

01:02:12 --> 01:02:13

by being a Muslim.

01:02:15 --> 01:02:21

And you may ask, Why do I have to be a Muslim to inherit this treasure?

01:02:25 --> 01:03:21

Because all those that brought this treasure to the world, will Muslims and all those that follow and inherited this treasure will Muslims. Abraham was a Muslim alayhis salaam peace be upon him because he submitted to his Lord. Moses was a Muslim, because he submitted to his Lord Solomon and David peace be upon both of them were Muslims because to be Muslim means they submitted to their Lord john the baptist and Jesus Christ, the son of Mary, they were both Muslims because they submitted towards their Lord, the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him was a Muslim because he submitted towards his Lord.

01:03:24 --> 01:03:27

You too should be Muslim

01:03:30 --> 01:03:40

by submitting to your Lord by testifying by submitting and surrendering yourself to your Lord and creator.

01:03:42 --> 01:03:48

This is how you will uncover and capture the treasure

01:03:51 --> 01:03:53

I ask now at this time.

01:03:56 --> 01:03:57

And I asked the

01:03:58 --> 01:04:01

the organizers can they cut the lights on here?

01:04:07 --> 01:04:08

I asked at this time.

01:04:12 --> 01:04:19

Now that the treasure is open and plain and clear and uncovered for anyone to see

01:04:22 --> 01:04:23

I ask

01:04:25 --> 01:04:27

Are there any non Muslims here

01:04:29 --> 01:04:29

tonight

01:04:30 --> 01:04:33

that would like to inherit this treasure.

01:04:35 --> 01:04:39

Is anyone in the non Muslims that would like to come forward.

01:04:40 --> 01:04:43

Either come forward or stand up where you are

01:04:44 --> 01:04:49

and accept this treasure of Islam in their life.

01:04:53 --> 01:04:58

If there are any non Muslims that would like to accept this treasure

01:05:21 --> 01:05:22

Just got my hair done.

01:05:42 --> 01:05:44

Now, I'm sure

01:05:45 --> 01:05:46

that there are

01:05:48 --> 01:05:49

several people

01:05:51 --> 01:05:54

who are sitting in their chairs.

01:05:56 --> 01:05:58

And they're hesitant to come forward.

01:06:01 --> 01:06:03

Because they don't know what their family's gonna think.

01:06:10 --> 01:06:13

They don't know what their husband or wife might think.

01:06:15 --> 01:06:18

They don't know what they're gonna tell their friends,

01:06:19 --> 01:06:25

what they're going to tell their co workers that they came to a lecture and some guy just brainwashed him.

01:06:30 --> 01:06:31

But we shouldn't think that way.

01:06:34 --> 01:06:36

We need to seize the opportunity

01:06:37 --> 01:06:39

when the opportunity comes.

01:06:40 --> 01:06:42

And we need to be courageous.

01:06:45 --> 01:06:49

If you're in the middle of a lake or an ocean, and you run out of

01:06:52 --> 01:06:54

you've run out of options.

01:06:56 --> 01:06:59

You can't swim, you can't stay afloat.

01:07:00 --> 01:07:10

If anyone just throws a rope out to you, even if you were to see a stall float, you would grab at it, because that's human nature.

01:07:11 --> 01:07:15

Here, we're not asking anybody to act out of desperation.

01:07:16 --> 01:07:20

We're inviting you. And we are suggesting to you

01:07:21 --> 01:07:28

that you accept Islam and that you accept this treasure into your life as these five individuals about to do now.

01:07:31 --> 01:07:32

So while I recite

01:07:34 --> 01:07:41

the words of the Shahada, if they are anybody else, if there's anyone else, if you don't want to come forward,

01:07:43 --> 01:07:45

then just recited along with us,

01:07:46 --> 01:07:48

or stand up where you are.

01:07:49 --> 01:07:56

And you can recite it with us. Or if you feel like it, you come forward while we're reciting it.

01:08:10 --> 01:08:15

Now, there are people who are related to Muslims.

01:08:18 --> 01:08:18

There are

01:08:23 --> 01:08:27

there are young ladies who have

01:08:34 --> 01:08:39

an intended relationship with Muslims.

01:08:43 --> 01:08:55

They are young men who are here who go to school with young Muslim ladies. And they would like to maybe marry one of them or have a relationship one of them, but they can't because they're not Muslim.

01:08:58 --> 01:09:00

And we live in a real world.

01:09:02 --> 01:09:04

And so

01:09:05 --> 01:09:19

they are non Muslims, who are the neighbors of Muslims who go to school with Muslims and work with Muslims. And basically, you already have accepted most of what you see, you've accepted most of what you have heard.

01:09:20 --> 01:09:25

But this is an opportunity for you to embrace it and take it another step further.

01:09:29 --> 01:09:33

The words that we're going to recite is nothing more than what I've already said.

01:09:37 --> 01:09:45

It is the burden of witness that there is none to be worshipped except to Almighty God, and that he is one without any partner, and the burden of witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. Do you accept that?

01:09:47 --> 01:09:52

So I want you to recite these words after me. I shall do

01:09:54 --> 01:09:55

and La

01:09:56 --> 01:09:57

Ilaha

01:09:58 --> 01:09:59

Illa la

01:10:01 --> 01:10:02

Hi Joe

01:10:05 --> 01:10:06

Muhammadan

01:10:07 --> 01:10:10

rasul, law

01:10:43 --> 01:10:53

doing all the things that you and I do. And at night, standing in prayer for four or five hours at a time.

01:10:55 --> 01:10:58

The day fighting the battles,

01:11:00 --> 01:11:01

discharging the armies

01:11:03 --> 01:11:18

giving the carom and the rulings explaining the Qur'an and structuring the people in behavior. How could a man do all of that? and stand four or five hours at night at one time?

01:11:20 --> 01:11:23

What kind of human being could that be?

01:11:30 --> 01:11:38

Let me tell you, after Christopher Columbus came back and claim that land for King Ferdinand and Isabella,

01:11:40 --> 01:11:42

they sent more ships.

01:11:44 --> 01:11:46

And within 150 years,

01:11:48 --> 01:12:01

they destabilize massacred, killed, liquidated, eliminated 89 million native Indians as they call them,

01:12:02 --> 01:12:05

to take control of what they call the new world.

01:12:06 --> 01:12:10

So we got 56 and we got 89. You keep adding for me, please? How many?

01:12:13 --> 01:12:18

487 million.

01:12:19 --> 01:12:41

That's half a billion people. They never defined any of these actions in these barbaric tragic intrusions, criminal occupations, destabilization, murder, and protracted crimes on humanity. They never called it, what?

01:12:42 --> 01:12:42

terrorism.

01:12:51 --> 01:12:53

It's unbelievable

01:12:55 --> 01:12:56

how a concept

01:12:58 --> 01:13:02

could be forced on the world with their eyes wide open.

01:13:04 --> 01:13:26

And all the lives all the time that people go to church, read the Bible, talk to their priests, their leaders themselves around the dinner table, pray to God with their eyes open or close and don't understand the trilogy. And they accepted that it's simply a mystery that cannot be explained.

01:13:31 --> 01:13:38

The Islamic position regarding that is that generally, generally, the role of men

01:13:39 --> 01:13:57

is to protect them generally, to represent to protect outwardly, just like you have never in history, heard of an army army, a country going to war against another country, and they sent a female regiment.

01:13:59 --> 01:14:00

It has never happened.

01:14:01 --> 01:14:06

And there's a reason for that. With all the liberation is going on. America didn't say no female rescue.

01:14:08 --> 01:14:14

Because generally speaking, answering the lady's question, they are equal in front of God, but they're not the same.

01:14:16 --> 01:14:18

You see if a law rat ran across you right now.

01:14:33 --> 01:14:39

Right? And it just got finished praying the morning prayer. They stopped planning this bank robbery.

01:14:41 --> 01:14:45

Or they call it the lady or the lady call up the man they want to meet together. So it's a

01:14:47 --> 01:14:48

good time.

01:14:52 --> 01:14:56

But before we go have this, this is a meeting that we don't have, let's pray.

01:14:58 --> 01:15:00

So can we pray to this

01:15:00 --> 01:15:04

We had a meeting together so where do we go from here? What was your house miles but we got Priyanka.

01:15:07 --> 01:15:13

So we put afternoon presser where we got from the miniature house. So here's what we're gonna do we take a little drink, we start discussing smooches

01:15:15 --> 01:15:16

sunset PrEP

01:15:18 --> 01:15:19

is not gonna happen.

01:15:20 --> 01:15:26

So the whole issue of the prayer, the prophet, the Quran says in the salata, 10

01:15:27 --> 01:15:37

and fascia women cover this correct, virtually the prayer is the preventive deterrent against human tendencies towards doing was wrong.

01:15:42 --> 01:15:47

And one day, she wake up and she puts on niqab

01:15:49 --> 01:15:53

and she puts her phone calls on no more lipstick,

01:15:55 --> 01:15:56

no more perfu

01:15:58 --> 01:16:10

she doesn't talk to the men, she's not working anymore because she understands to keep her higher, to keep herself. She stays home and take care of her home and her husband says what's happened to you?

01:16:14 --> 01:16:19

She says yesterday I read an ayah in the Quran. I read the Hadith from the Prophet sallallahu.

01:16:20 --> 01:16:29

And it made me cry to think about my religion and I'm not doing that no more. And so he said then I don't want you. You have become extreme.

01:16:30 --> 01:16:33

So she has now become stranger

01:16:34 --> 01:16:40

to the law. If he lever we asked a lot to give her another stranger.

01:16:46 --> 01:16:49

The Muslim neighbor, the Muslim co worker,

01:16:51 --> 01:16:52

the Muslim colleague.

01:16:54 --> 01:17:06

They are the ones that are blocking the way for people understanding Islam. Because people are getting confused. They are confusing Muslims with Islam

01:17:08 --> 01:17:16

and part of us uncovering the treasure sometimes means moving Muslims out of the way.

01:17:17 --> 01:17:25

Now that the treasure is open and plain and clear and uncovered for anyone to see

01:17:28 --> 01:17:28

I ask

01:17:30 --> 01:17:32

Are there any non Muslims here

01:17:34 --> 01:17:35

tonight

01:17:36 --> 01:17:40

that would like to inherit this treasure La Ilaha.

01:17:44 --> 01:17:45

The law

01:18:15 --> 01:19:05
