And so the idea was approved and now it was time
to plan.
Now, it was impossible for them to
dig a trench all around Medina.
The reason for this was that they didn't have the manpower.
Nor did they have the time.
You know, in a few days, the Army is going to be here. So
they chose a vulnerable location,
which was the Northern Front of Medina.
This was because Medina was naturally protected.
From the east and west.
The areas of the East and the West are filled with
volcanic lava rock.
Fields of black,
sharp,
lava rock, leftover from volcanoes that erupted 1000s of years ago.
And these fields of lava rock or they are present until this very day, if you were to go to the outskirts of Medina,
to the east or to the west, you will find
large fields.

that was molded, ready to be late. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam took it.
And he blew into it with some spirit.
And then he went to the cooking pot. And he did the same thing.
You know, putting his Baraka into it.
And then he said, called another woman to help bake the bread and let her take out from the cooking pot. But do not take it off of the fire.
Job, you know, the Allahu Han says there were about 1000 guests.
All of them ate from it, until they left the food and went off. They were still leftover food. He says, our pot still bubbled as before, and the dough was being baked as before.
In another narration, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says to him, tell your wife to come and eat from it, and to gift it, you know, go and send this food to others because we are experiencing a famine.
And so this is from the miracles in the Battle of zap. And there were many miracles that took place. This is one of them. Another miracle
that occurred as they were digging the trench
was that as they were digging,
they came across a huge hard rock.
And they tried several times to break it but they couldn't.
So they called the Prophet salallahu it who said
he came and he struck the rock with his speed three times.
And each time he was striking, a bright light would spark
and in another narration it was like a light in the middle of a dark or dark night.
So anyways, the first time he struck it,
he said Allahu Akbar. The Keys of a sham have been granted to me. I swear by a lot. I can see it's pelisses At this moment

And if the hypocrites were with you in your mitts, they would hardly take part in fighting.
And so
if the armies attack Medina,

but rather that they were somewhere far in the desert.
Hearing the latest news

the test of Allah for the believers come in different forms. But they understood very well. This was yet another four.
So look at how one incident
brought forth different reactions to it.

But the reactions were different.
And that is a difference between the believers. And when I feel good.

And they see this trench. And so we'll conclude tonight with some of the lessons that we learned from this part of the battle.
The first lesson that we learned
is the importance of taking practical means
for war for jihad,
preparing for it
based on what is available to us.
And so we see from this battle of Zab, that
the two pillars, that victory lies in
if Allah is going to grant us victory, it lies in two things. Number one, taking the practical means
at our disposal, at our availability, to fight the enemy and to defend ourselves.

Whatever you are able to have strength of power of
cavalry, training horses, to go into battle,

And in the case of this battle, it was a trench.
He was digging the trench.
So that's what it was in the past, in in today's day and age. We have to build armies, we have to,
you know, have weapons, we have to have tanks, we have to have missiles and jets and so on and so forth.
And the second pillar that victory lies on is Elon, you have been believing in the Promise of Allah, and then to what could bring your trust in Allah. As Allah says here

giving importance
to taking the practical means to defend the Muslims here the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
He saw the danger.

Also, look at how to suit Allah He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

And so it shows us how the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was willing to explore new and innovative ideas and ways.
And how he wasn't

you know, taking advantage of whatever is available to us.
And that's why the Muslim
After the death of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam they advanced the way they did in science and technology, using whatever knowledge that they learned
to the advantage of the Muslims
the second lesson that we learn is
how the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam set a practical example for the companions
and so he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was in the trench digging with them, and Bharat Rani Allah had never eaten Sahil Bihari. He says on the day of Allah Hassan Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was digging the trench. I saw him carrying dirt until there was so much dirt on his stomach that I can barely see his skin anymore.
So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was setting
a leadership example.
He worked alongside his companions. He didn't give orders from a high place
like leaders do today.
He didn't allow himself to be different
from his followers, when it came to
action, and cooperating in doing something together,
even though he was who he was the best of mankind in the Messenger of Allah.
And
this is not the first time that this happened.
We saw other examples of this like when they were building the masjid.
And in other examples as well.
The third lesson that we learned
is the importance of building optimism.
in difficult times.
And so, while in this difficult, fearful situation, with your enemies converging on you from all sides, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam informed his companions of what Allah had shown him,
you know, the conquering of a sham, of Persia, of Yemen.
And all of these places,
were eventually conquered by the Messiah,
not too long after the death of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam.
But the point here was that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was planting the seeds of optimism,
and high hopes,
and having good thoughts of Allah.
He was planting the seeds in the hearts of the Muslims, who at that moment,
were going through a very rough time.
And they were about to be faced with an army that would shake them with fear.
And so this shows us
the kind of optimism that we also need to have, in this day and age, when we see the enemies of Islam doing what they're doing to the Muslims,
not only take the recent example of what's happening in Palestine.
But what we see is
that the believers on the ground there, they are displaying the same kind of optimism.
And they have the same
kind of sentiment, as the believers on the day of Eliza. With all of the military force, and the advanced weapons and everything that is in the hands of their enemies.
They still believe with the theme that Allah will grant them victory. It is with such optimism that Allah is victory truly covers.
The fourth lesson that we learned
is the enmity and the hostility of the hood.
And we've seen it before

Even after being expelled from Medina,
they came back with
this coalition
you know, showing that the hearts are filled with this hatred
for the Muslims.
And then not only that, but now this third tribe

And then plotting and conspiring against Muslims, is not something new. And so when we see

the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wasallam, extending to the prophets and the messengers before him.
It's a quality that they have.
And again, when we mentioned these things,
they will quickly accuse us of being anti semitic.
And so we need to make it clear
that anti semitism is
looking at a certain group, because of their ethnicity, and thinking you are superior to them.
And so you attack them because of that. So we Muslims, don't attack them because of that,
but rather,
because of an ideology,
because of traits that they have that are from the religion.
And so that is why,
when one of them accepts Islam, we welcome him as a Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam did,
if we were anti semitic, we wouldn't do that. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam would have said to the likes of Abdullah bin Salam, no,
you know, we are against you because of your race and your ethnicity. Right, the process of did not do that. And the Muslims, until this very day, do not do that.
The fifth lesson that we learned,
and this, the last one that we'll conclude with,
is the difference between the believers and the mafia Cohen, when it when we are in difficult times, intense times.
We saw the reaction of both.
We saw how the mafia Cohen reacted.
And we saw how the true believers reacted. And so
even today, there are munafo Cool among us who react similarly,
it's all we need to check ourselves. And we need to ask ourselves, how do we react to such difficult and tense situations? Do we act and react like them when I feel good?
Or do we react like the believers did on the day of Allah Hassan
taking a firm stance and resolve
and standing your ground

offering to sacrifice your life, saying I'm going to stay in it

becoming frantic, panicking.
Losing courage,
you know, showing how they were cowards.
Making excuses, wanting to run away.
Not having any trust
in the Promise of Allah.
So these are some of the lessons that we can mention.
