Quranic themes – Episode 16 – Greed of Wealth

firstly brothers and sisters As salam aleikum wa rahmatullah wa barakato.

Welcome to another session of the Quranic themes. And last week we covered the devil's approach, or how the devil approaches and comes to us because ultimately,

the devil wants to take us to Hellfire and Allah azza wa jal wants us to go to Geneva. He has made a very clear will La Jolla de la daddy Salam. O Allah azza wa jal says in the Holy Quran, that Allah is the one who's calling you to the abode of peace to Jana, he's the one who's calling you to that. And what shaytan wants to do is the devil wants to make us be distracted from our purpose in this life. He wants us to be to be distracted from getting to Jana. He wants us to slip

and go to Hellfire with him. So today's theme is going to be one of the things that shaytan uses. I did mention very briefly last week, quite a few of the things that shaytan tries to get us into. Now. Ultimately, he's going to try and play on one of the diseases of the heart. We've got a few weaknesses, we've got to remember he's our enemy,

where his enemy and when you want to take down your enemy, you have to look for a weakness, you have to look for the weakness of your of your opponent. So what's our weakness, our weaknesses are the diseases of the heart which we covered earlier in the series. So for example, arrogance is a weakness, pride is a weakness, envy jealousy is a weakness. Greed is a big weakness, okay. these are these are some of the prime thinking of the heart. These are weaknesses of the human being. And shaytan is going to try and play up with this with the human being to try and make him slip into one of these emotions. And then to make him slip from the athleta slip from Jenna go with him to

hellfire. So with a look generally with men,

generally with men, they have not like certain weaknesses are more in some than others. So there's a weakness in women found more than men and the weakness in men found more than women. Okay, so we've all got weaknesses and to different degrees. So let's let's look at it like men. When you look at men, what what what are they got as a weakness more than the women? Well, men have got this boastful, proud, proud sort of, you know, attitude, which can lead to arrogance, and make them feel like another strong, the big, the mighty, that's more in men than women. In women, there's more jealousy. In women, there's more jealousy. So that's a big weakness within women that shaytan can

play with. And a big weakness in men is the proud, boastful attitude, trying to make them feel like you know, the better than other men, they can overpower other men, that's a weakness, he can play there. But between them both of them, there is another weakness that the shaytan can easily manipulate and use, which is greed. Okay, greed. Now this greed is to do with a lot of things in life, the human being has been created,

and the human being as it functions, there's two things that all of us have been doing from the beginning of our life till now. And we're going to carry on doing till the end of our lives, there's two things. One is every single one of us is looking for the benefit we can get in our lives. The benefit, and the other one thing that we're doing all of us are doing is we're trying to save ourselves from the harms in our lives.

Let me let me give an example of this. Okay, so from a baby, let's look from a baby.

A child or a baby will always want to like sort of eat as benefit. It wants to play this benefit. It wants to stay away from, let's say, doing whatever chores or things in there is as is growing, that now it wants to find as much benefit as you can, as the child grows, okay, as the child grows is going to stay with

From fire, it's harmful fats harmful is going to stay away from danger. Stay away from horrible people stay away from, you know, things that are going to make you be hurt. And it's going to go for those things that will give it benefit will give you pleasure. Now as you go along in life and the human is growing, we are all rotating on these two axes. All these these two things have been very, very important for us right now. Why are you Why are you working? Why are you earning money? Because you want benefit? What benefit do you get? Well, with the, with the money, you're gonna have a roof over your head, you're gonna have bills that are paid, you're gonna have food on the table, these

are benefits. Why are you making sure that

you are you are putting an alarm to your house? Why? Because you want to save save yourself from the harm of thieves. Okay? Why are you securing your money because you want to save yourself from harm of people stealing your money, and so on and so forth. You can see security internet, because the internet, right, you use the internet, it's a benefit for you. But the same time you have a virus check for it, right so that you stay away from the harms of viruses coming into your computer, anything we are doing in our lives, no matter how you look at it, we're always looking at benefits we want, and saving ourselves from harm, right? Even the long term achieve and look at the future.

Why are we having children because they will benefit us when we grow old? Right? Why are we having? That's one of the benefits? Why are you having what why are you investing today so that tomorrow, you're going to have extra benefit from from whatever you you've invested in whatever has brought, you know, whatever growth you've got from your from your wealth, you will benefit from it tomorrow, and you will save yourself from harm for many harms. Why are you wearing these clothes right now for because you want to save yourself from the harm of catching a cold, right? Everything is rotated between these two things. We want benefit and want to save ourselves from harm. Has everyone

understood that? Yes. Okay, in that

of trying to get benefit.

The shaytan knows that we woke up greed.

Women and men, both of us have got greed. So he's going to try and manipulate us through this greed to try and make us exceed the limits of Allah.

Because shaytan knows he can very easily make us do that. And what was one of the biggest greed that we have on this earth is that we have the greed of we have the greed of wealth,

wealth, this one thing makes us go crazy. There's a couple of things that you know, if you look at men, a lot of strong men in power, you will you'll notice a lot of strong men in power. They it's easy to take them down with two things. The FBI notice, okay, the CIA, the FBI, the big intelligence services know that any big man in power, if you want to take them down, then there's two things. You offer them, either women

or you offer them money.

One of the two, they will have a big greed for a man of greed for okay. Most of us have either right now sitting here, most of you men sitting here, most of us have either got the the greed in us, and the lust in us for women, or we've got the greed in us for money, one of the two, if not you, either, you've got both of them, or you got one of them inside you. There's only a few people who don't have that the greed for that. And the greed for these. There are men like that, who don't have that. But most of us sitting here will have that.

And shaytan plays on that with women. He does equally the same thing. Shaytan is he equally looks at it from the same thing. Why? Because women have got in general, I'm talking about men as well, but women as well. Women have got a lot of greed in terms of acquiring monies and acquiring wealth and the securing the future. And through that how he can make them slip is that they will they will either go for men who have money, or they themselves will be indulgent money. with men, it's worse. Because men you know from the from the times that we've known from from centuries and centuries men have been the breadwinners. So they're the primary people going outside and trying to earn money.

Now what shaytan does lie the lie is a shaytan wants us to earn money and money earn money and agreed increases increase increases to the extent that we become intoxicated.

What do you mean he died young?

You have 50 years of life. That's a lot is a lot. He didn't die young, because they're comparing it to 70 year olds, eight year olds, that you're supposed to be 7080 by the time you die, so he died 50 he died young. No, he didn't die young. Every single day I read about the news, I read about what's going on. And I've been doing so for four decades. I follow the news, I follow what's going on? And I'll tell you one thing, if you know, when you think deep, why did they do this? Why did they do that? Why did this country invade this country? Why did that country do this? and so on? Why isn't this country doing anything without other country? Okay, I don't want to make this a political session. But if you look at any political rival you've got in the world, most of their

problems boils down to money.

Most of their problems, bows and money.

Like, for example, this country, you know, this country this moment, even America at this moment,

even though they have a lot of problems with Saudi Arabia and what they're doing and the way they're functioning, they're not going to say anything. Why?

Why

Right? It's money. The economy of USA economy of Britain has benefited from that.

Saudi and these countries now going to say about these, these Why? Because they're giving money out, they're getting weapons, they're getting other things in between. Now, there's a trade going on. Right? A lot of these countries, if you look deep inside is not about what they're saying on here. It's not about who's done what it's about the benefits they want to get from the top and it's about money. I've analyzed this across across the world, like why would why would America side with India and make it best friend? Why?

The real thing happening is there's a second layer of politics above this, which we don't get to see, which is the deals that during between the countries, that billions of dollars that are going from one country to another that are in a trade, the trade deals that are going along the embargoes, whatever the things that are buying from one on one cut another country, the investments are pulling be this is the real the real world. As long as those things are going good

between two countries, doesn't matter what's happening on the bottom level, they're not going to fight each other.

You think about Kashmir,

you think about Kashmir right now, you think about the countries that made the move the countries that said something that countries that didn't. And you can sit there anything you can think to yourself, Why Why does Muslim governments boosting government security? I'll give you a simple simple answer. Money, my friend money.

Every government is thinking about their own money, by the country's man is they think that if we say this, if we if we take a harsh stance, stance against that country, and what's gonna happen is tomorrow, the money is gonna stop the trades are gonna stop between this country in that country. country is in debt in Riba be time until the whole country can drown in this river, then after 10 years, they say, Oh, you haven't paid us this much. Oh, the interest is going up. Okay. Now we're going to add interest unless you give us more permission, give more permission for us to drill in your country, for us to find certain resources for us to you know, take these issues and what they do allow Lola to live in LA. Once they've monopolized all the bananas, then they will put the price up. But what they'll do first is they'll bring the bananas over to our countries to let's say England, Canada, US and Europe and the sell them for like one pound, one pound 50 don't make enough money. And the few they can't sell the ticket back to the country. You know what they do now? The country was paying 15 pounds of bananas before

Now to that country, they're going to sell for 45 p 50. p, they can do what they like because they've monopolized all the bananas. You guys guys understand? Yeah, now they're doing this not because bananas, they'll do with anything, they get hands on anything they get their hands on, they'll do it. So they want to monopolize it, they want to take it, they want to, you know, on the one hand and make them pretend make make you like, look like they're gonna build infrastructure. On another hand, what they'll do is they'll make they'll, they're basically destroying the country. But if you look at most of the politics in the world of who's doing what, why they're doing it, you

know, what, if you know the true politics, the top level of politics, where the trades are going on, where the corporations are, who's controlling who even governments, governments are like,

when it comes to money, even all these big presidents, you look at any American president, any American president, any British Prime Minister,

the second point there is going to be why because the corporations are telling them, if you don't do what we say, we are going to stop investing into your your government, because all these governments are getting monies from these corporations. So they want to look after them. So most of this trouble started from one Helsel man,

A lot of these problems rotate around that

every one of us is eyeing another person out is what what's your level in the society? How much money have you got out, and then when there's someone with more money,

let's say for example, there's someone from your family members, or from your friends, who suddenly got a lot of money. Now you got inside your head. So you've got inside your greed, and shaytan knows this is playing that you want. He wants you to be greedy with this. But in the end, when you have when you can't make enough money as your brother or as your friend, then what happens to the to the heart shaytan in Jackson jealousy he he ignites the jealousy inside.

Men or women, he'll ignite the jealousy. Oh, I should have had that. I should have had this. Why don't have this? Am I am I speaking the truth? Yes or no? Guys? Right? This is how shaytan gets to us. And all of it is this his? His his greed inside? greed can kill a human being.

We're not saying kill him literally. But inside is more or less dead.

Greed can do that. In fact, if you can't get you in this, let's say some of you sitting here said no, no, I'm not jealous of family. I'm not jealous of friends. Whatever. I've got Alhambra. The trap is that shaytan will make you associate with a certain circle of people who are higher than you higher than your pay grade, or higher than you in terms of how much money you've got. So for example, you know, you're a man who earns let's say 30,000 pounds. You're a man who earns 30,000 pounds, and your life can easily rotate 30,000 pounds. You got two kids, you

got a small house. You got a wife in there, and you got to just you know, old car, whatever. Or maybe

don't have a car, but but everything's just just working fine. When you associate yourself with people who are adding 50,000 pounds, and earning a lot more who got bigger houses, who got who got better cars, who, you know, live a certain life, if you or your wife feel that you need to step up to their way of life and keep your good connection with them and sort of show that you can be on their level, you're in a big problem and a lot of people make this mistake. Big mistake, big mistake. You know, I don't give a damn about people who are above me in status or I like Mashallah, vanilla.

Vanilla, but don't tell me how to live my life. Like, well, I am going to live my life. So for example, I'll be very straight with you my clothes. I wear my clothes until I can't wear them anymore.

Some of our clothes I've had for 20 years.

This this this job I'm wearing now. Probably about 10 years. I'm not joking. These 10 years I've got I've got a cardigan there for probably about seven, eight years. I've had shoes for five years, six years, seven years. Till I can't I can't wear them anymore.

I've got certain clothes of items, clothing items I've got right now in my wardrobe. 20 years.

My sofas are home. I bought them 19 years ago, 18 years ago so hungry.

People come we don't grow. How I don't know. I'm not growing at the moment.

You know, people come and sometimes people see there's a little tear in my sofa.

There's a tear in my sofa has been there for years.

I'm not gonna hamdulillah So,

but yes, Alhamdulillah you have brilliant sofas, you have no tears in your sofas, you have the stats you man, I don't have to live up to your life. This is my life. If you like me, you like me, if you don't like me, goodbye. Enjoy your life. I'm not gonna come up to your league. I don't have to live your kind of life. Because once you do that, you're in trouble because then you need to earn more money.

You get more money for this function for that function for this for that and people go crazy. Crazy. social status is why they're gonna have this certain type of, you know, clothing brand names, the movement after certain bands. Oh my god, I can't take that. I've heard women. I can't take that back over there. Because if that take that back, they're gonna look at me and they're gonna think I'm a cheap little woman. Cheap woman.

You know, I'm saying so I

mean, you know, I'm a Product bag. And I've even gone to someplace like First of all, when I'm to carry something, I'll carry a normal, you know, carry a bag those 10 p sainsburys. bags or, you know, whatever bags, I'll even get one of those that I just put my stuff in and I'll go I don't care. That's who I am. And some people are like, Whoa, you can't go with a Tesco bag or 10 p bag is from a company that does is one day long runs take them inside. Go right now. No, you can't want people gonna say what are what are people gonna say?

See, what are people gonna say? If I took this 10 p bag All right, take a 10 p Sainsbury's or Tesco back? If I took it to Bangladesh.

They'd be like, Mashallah, where do you get that man from? Hmm, that's kind of classy, you know?

Seriously. And you know what I do? Honestly, I live my life according to

the the longest period I would have had in my life. You know, there's one time when my father took me to Bangladesh, to my whole family's bank, and for one year, we hated it. But today's vanilla, I kind of think and think, wow, I think all these kids needed.

You know, our kids, if you don't take your kids to a third world country, and you basically make them live with real poor people. If you don't do that, honestly, your kids are never going to grow up appreciating what they've got. They're never going to grow up. I appreciate every single thing I have. You know why? Because my dad took us there to Bangladesh and this was Bangladesh in 1986.

This is back in the days, my friend. He never took us to some nice place in the town. He took us to a village You know what, there was not even electricity in the village, no electricity, forget TV, no electricity,

no electricity, no gas.

No, nothing, not even freshwater.

Nothing, you just stay in the middle of the village. And we had to stay there for one year. And that really taught me a lot about how these poor people live. You know when you live amongst those poor people, we know those poor people. You know the few bits of rice we leave in our we leave on our plate.

They'll come they'll pick your plate up.

They'll scrape your plate and they'll eat it. And the scrape it scrape and they'll eat it. When you see that you're the mango you cut a mango, the peel of a mango and you throw the peel away. They'll take the peel of the mango, put it in their mouth and take the remaining of the mango from that peel and eat that.

Am I saying the truth so guys, when you see that you can think La la la la this is this is real world. The man has only got a chicken a few chickens ago if he has a goat is a big thing. Right? When you see that kind of think that this man is his whole life is this one cow

and everything rotate is on the one cow one bowl he's got his dream is to have just a little piece of land. I absolutely hated it. But today, I think my father what he did, what the blessing he taught me is that for life, I always think that's the real life. So you know, if I have 10 pounds in my hand, if I have 20 pounds, vessels and clothes like this, I'm not gonna 100

it's like the people over there. I've seen them. They don't have they don't have these clothes. You know, I wouldn't I I take my old clothes to Bangladesh, and I donate them. And when you donate my old clothes, I'm donating them. They're so happy. The man's in tears. Because now he's got a his What is my old Juba is like his, his his, he's gonna wear that on a day where he'd

it makes you cry my mild clothes, which I you know, they're not bad. They're not really real bad shape. They're just old, really old. And I take them by me, that's the man's going to wear it with pride on the day of varied. Some of us are living, right? And you come back

I'm like, yo, yo, Bro, I see my life. I've never had a car with the built in Sat Nav, right? And I was laughing I was like, Whoa, that's good. Man. I think your standards are enough to say like, but people understand this. And the thing is, you know, if you ever come across those people be happy for them.
