The way we fast Ramadan reflects the reasons behind our fast and what we hope to gain from it. This khutbah builds on the previous one, Why do we fast Ramadan?, to highlight the importance of having the proper intention in our fast and its transformative powers. It also shares some of the insights that Ramadan can bring into our lives.

So this there is this complete, that the message of Ramadan, that the practice of Ramadan is being subverted. I remember this barakah in it even if few sips of water, there is Baraka in it and I want to bring the bottle of Allah subhana wa Taala into my fast and into my life. And that teaches us something. Whenever you find Baraka from Allah subhanho wa Taala in anything you tried to bring it into your life, you eager to capture it.
So the there will be a difference in the past thing of a person who brings that Baraka, conscious of it and the person who doesn't.
Then when we start our fasting in the day
and even if we find the bite of hunger, and are thirsty,
we understand that this is something as we explained before, this is something that Allah subhana wa tada loves.
And if Allah loves it, and we love Allah subhana wa Taala will find that our hearts will fly to it.
Even if there is difficulty in it, as Musa alayhis salam says Raja to La kuraby retirada II, Allah hastened on a rush towards you so that you would be happy with me.
That's what Allah subhana wa Tada, loves. If this is something that Allah loves, you rush to it, you run to it. And sometimes people need to tell us that and sometimes no one needs to tell you that. Because if you love Allah subhana wa tada and he loves this thing, you will just rush to do it automatically. Notice how you behave with other human beings that you love.
Find that they love something to eat, or drink. If you know that they love this particular thing, and you really love them. Without anyone asking you you will rush. Even if it's hard, you will rush to get it.
Why because it makes them happy. And their happiness makes you happy, right?
their happiness makes you happy.
And if you love Allah subhana wa tada and this is the test. If you love Allah subhanho wa Taala then you will say to yourself, if this makes Allah happy, and whatever makes you happy, makes me happy, then this fasting makes me happy. So you rush to it. Yeah, Allah, I am doing something, if there's hardship in it, but it's making you happy. So it's making me happy as well.
And in that way, fasting becomes easy.
Not difficult, not a task, not a burden, but an opportunity.
And when we taste,
hunger and thirst in it, what is it also teaches us
It teaches us or reminds us
getting hungry or thirsty, or experiencing your deficiencies in life is part of its test.

So part of life test is to lack something is to have something and to lose it.

you encounter some of that fear and you discover that by Allah subhanho wa Taala you have the will to conquer it.
By the assistance of Allah you have the will to prevail against it.
So there is no need to be afraid even if that fear even if that hunger comes. And a lot of Muslims in the world today are hungry. But even if that comes that Allah will give you the power to overcome even if that fear comes that Allah will give you the power to come overcome you don't need to be terrified of it. So the month of Ramadan is now teaching you do not be afraid of losing this dunya
Do not be afraid for instance of hunger or thirst or losing so and so experienced now just a little bit of that bite because it will teach you that you can develop your Will you could develop your Eman so that these things are not terrifying so much. And we remember also
because what we talked about first now is involuntary hunger, involuntary fear, you'd have no way to control it. It just happens. But there is another type of hunger and fear that Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam and the early companions experienced
choice. They went hungry.

So there is needs or there needs to be a test. And we need to have that resolve and that patience but after it. If we are steadfast and patient Allah subhana wa Taala will reward immensely. And that is one thing that fasting teaches, in addition to the fact that when we are hungry and thirsty, we also remember the poor and I want you to keep remembering the poor, especially the Muslims but also non Muslims. blessings of Allah subhana wa Taala that are coming your way, one after the other, that is happiness. That is happiness.
And you realize also something that is very important here.
Though there is some hardship in what Allah subhanaw taala may ask us to do sometimes, once it's done, the hardship disappears and fizzles away as if it's not there. After you eat, somebody asks you did you experience hardship and fasting, so it's gone, it's behind me. It's done. So is everything else.
The enjoyment of this life once you enjoy it, and it's done, it's as
If you did not enjoy it, it's gone.
And the hardship that comes with this life when you are done with it, it's gone as if it's not there. And so when you will meet Allah subhanho wa Taala, right and you will look back at your life, or the hardship that you went through involuntary or voluntary, as we explained,
all of that will seem as if it was a dream. And the only thing that will be in front of you now is the reward of Allah subhanho wa Taala or his punishment. So think about it, when you are breaking your fast, though there is some difficulty and challenge, go through it because when you're done with it, it'd be as if you did not do anything, Allah subhanho wa Taala will make sure of that.
It'll be as if you did not carry any burden at all, and there was no hardship at all.
And if you choose the other path and you try to enjoy your life, and when you finish actually enjoying something that Allah has forbidden, you look at it and you say, it's as if I did not enjoy anything. Because what follows is pain and sorrow and shame and guilt, naturally.
And that is just a taste of what is to come later.
Then at night,
that is the night of the Quran and the entire 24 hours are also for the Quran. But there there is that prayer at night, where you will be hearing the Quran. And when you're hearing the Quran, one of the things that you can remember is Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said sitting in the cave of Shiva and that was the month of Ramadan.

This is why it is in the month of Ramadan. And in our recitation of the Quran and listening to it, let's try to focus on something which is that it's about learning the lessons from it.

If I am a person who only reads the Quran in Ramadan, it's not important or as important for me to finish two, three and five and 10 finished one one, but understand, let me understand what you understand what we are reading. And it to that effect the prophets of Allah Allah who it was lm is saying here here is this forgiveness, this feast from Allah subhanho wa Taala and the one who witnesses the month of Ramadan from beginning to end and comes back or comes out of it, without any forgiveness has experienced a loss and humiliation loss in this life and loss and humiliation in the next.
