And this is why you will find that even before Islam even before the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam came. One of the reasons that led people to ship to associating partners with Allah was this issue of tawassul. And then after the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam came as well after Islam.
Many of the Muslim groups and sects and even many Muslim individuals, due to the ignorance on the subject have fallen into the same trap.
Because there was so isn't black and white in the sense that every type of person is allowed, or every type of diversity is prohibited. requires some research requires you to understand the different types of tawassul and their different rulings, their various rulings.

station. And this is a different type of wartsila, he will be given a station of closeness to Allah subhanho wa Taala. So he will be close to a large origin, a normal piano. So this is the meaning of vasila to come closer to Allah.
And this, as I mentioned was one of the very reasons that the non Muslims before Islam would fall into shall fall into associating partners with the law. It was because of the understanding of vasila and tawassul. And it was the reason why many Muslims even today fall into shape perhaps without knowing that the falling into shape. They don't know what they're doing. They fall into shape because of the way they use this traversal. When you look at the time before Islam before the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the pagan Arabs, the mushrikeen, of Polish, these pagan Arabs worshipped Allah. They believed in Allah. They believed that Allah azza wa jal himself was the
creator, was the Sustainer was the provider was the originator was the one who gave life and death. They believed in all of this just as we, as Muslims believe today. They had no issue with this, they had no dispute over this. And this is why you find that they recognize the term Allah. They believed in Allah, they recognize that Allah exists. So they weren't atheists, you don't have to prove the existence of a lot to them. nor were they people who said that along wasn't the Creator, that there was some other God who created God or some other gods that created something else. They believed in Allah. And this is why when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was writing the Treaty of Abia

And this is mentioned in various places in the Quran, where Allah azza wa jal says, for example, or Yoku, Luna hula issue for Atlanta in the law, they say concerning their gods, the gods, that they worshipped the idols and everything else that they worship besides Allah, none of them believed that these gods or these idols were Allah, or that they were a reincarnation of Allah, or that they were a different form of Allah. But rather, they would say that these are our intercessors. with Allah, they are the ones who
will bring this closer to Allah.
They are the ones who will bring this closer to Allah. And an example of this, for example is if you want to go and speak to someone who's very rich, and very powerful, you want to go and see a king, for example of a country you want to gain an audience with him. Now as an ordinary Joe public, right as the ordinary person on the street, you can't just go and knock on the door of the king's palace and gain an audience. There needs to be a reason. And so for example, if you just happen to know someone who has influenced with the king, someone who can get you in, this person is your chef Ian is yo wassup. He's your seal.
And he will allow you to come in, he will bring you closer to the king, he will draw you closer. And so this is exactly what the non Muslims would say as well the pagan Arabs, that these different gods that we worship, they're not Allah, but they will bring us closer to Allah. And he says, woman Abu to whom you curry buena in Allah his offer. And we don't worship these gods, these idols, we don't worship them, except that they will bring us closer to Allah.
They will bring us closer to Allah. And that's why many of the gods were righteous people, righteous slaves and servants who died. And they erected idols in the images. Because they were righteous people. Well, we would probably call today as a Olia of Allah, they will Willies they were righteous people close friends of Allah. So they erected these images, these idols in their images, and worship them so that they would bring them closer to Allah. And this is a type of tawassul they are trying to come closer to Allah, they are trying to draw nearer to Allah. And this is the way that they are using it to do and so even today, many of the Muslims still fall into this very major
mistake. And when we look at traversal, then there's obviously two types of traversal. There's going to be something which is allowed something which is legislated, and another type which is prohibited and not allowed. So when we look at traversal, what are we allowed to do? Because on the one hand, we have a lot of visual ordering us to make was sila. Webster, who la Hill was sila. Seek a means of neediness to Allah come closer to Allah is a commandment from Allah to come closer to him. So we need to make tawassul. But then on the other hand, we know that tawassul is the very reason that many people and many nations fall into shape.
So where is the balance? The balance lies as with everything else in our religion, the balance lies with that which is in the Quran, and that which is in the authentic sunova Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And when you look at these two sources, you will find that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and a lot of xojo in the Quran, have allowed certain types of vasila. And so the easiest way to define this subject, the easiest way to have a criteria for this is that you simply say that those three or four situations and there's only three or four, those three or four situations in which Allah has allowed Allah and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has allowed was sila or
tawassul. Then there is what is allowed, and everything else beyond that is disallowed, it is prohibited. So what are those three or four types of tawassul vara sanction and legislated in Islam? The first one
is a tawassul be a smart Allah, he was the fact that you seek to come closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. Using the Beautiful Names and the lofty attributes of Allah azza wa jal himself. So you seek to come closer to Allah using the names and attributes of Allah subhanho wa Taala. And this is something which is commanded in the Quran, where Allah azza wa jal says, Allah has a smile for the room behalf and to Allah belongs the most beautiful of names. So invoke upon him using them, call upon him make dua, using those names. And this is why we find that it is from the Sunnah of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam, and you will find that it is from the etiquettes, of making the
law, from the beauty of making the law, that you actually use the names and attributes of Allah that are appropriate to the door that you're making, to your situation. And you use them to come closer to Allah subhanahu wa Tada. And this is why for example, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would say, Hey, you, you're a young bureaucratic Istalif, or the one who is living and needs no, no, no one else. Then from your with your mercy, I seek refuge. In your mercy, I seek refuge and I seek assistance. So you use the names of Allah that are appropriate to your situation. So for example, if you are in a dire situation, you're in a needy situation, then you wouldn't invoke the
names of Allah that are powerful, you wouldn't say that will allow you are the one who punished severely, so have mercy upon me. Because there's a contradiction here. You wouldn't say oh, well, now you are the one who destroyed the people of Adam for more than loot. So Allah have mercy upon me. Rather you would use the names and attributes of mercy and forgiveness of Allah you are Rahim Rahman refer for you as the one who forgive
You are the one who shows mercy. You are the one who saves people from the fire who enters them into paradise and so on. And then you make your way out of poverty and need.
And so you look at your situation and you use these names of Allah subhanho wa Taala accordingly. And this is actually from the Sunnah of our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and this is something that you will find in the Quran. And normally when you look at the doors that are mentioned in the Quran, they are always completed or concluded most of the time by using certain names and attributes of Allah. So, so the owl will come and then it will say what a while longer for Rahim, Allah is oft forgiving, Most Merciful, or that Allah azzawajal is kind. And he is forbearing. And he is patient. And when you look at the eyes of the Prophet alayhi wa salatu salam that are
mentioned in the Quran, they also use the names and attributes of a lot at the end, to conclude the duels. So to use to come closer to Allah using the names and attributes of Allah is something which is allowed, and it is the first type of traversal.

Now, the operative word here is your righteous actions. Not mine, not the person who's sitting next to you or someone else's, but your righteous actions. So you can't for example, say that Oh Allah, because my grandfather made Hajj, have mercy upon me. Or you can't say for example, because my next door neighbor is very generous, and he gives him charity, Allah give me more money. This isn't allowed. What is meant here is that you use your own righteous actions. And because of your righteous actions, a lot of zildjian will make it a way of answering your door as it is a way of coming closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. And this is something which the Prophet sallahu wa salatu
salam would do. A lot of zildjian mentions, for example, in the Quran, when the Prophet Ibrahim alayhi salatu. Salam is building the Kaaba. Now building the character constructing the house of Allah is an act of worship, something which is a righteous deed. So as he is constructing the house of Allah, he makes a dua so he's using his righteous action to come closer to Allah. this from us, indeed, you're all hearing and all knowing. So he combines between the two types of tawassul. He's using the names and attributes of Allah, he's single Allah, you're all hearing your own knowing. So he's using the names and attributes of Allah. And then he's also using his righteous action. So he's saying oh, well as you are constructing as I am constructing this house and worshiping you, because I am building your karma, then accept this for me, and he's making them do her using this. The Messenger of Allah Salah in another place in the Quran, Allah azza wa jal says, and levina Yoku Nora Bana in Nana, Amanda, fulfil, Donna Donna bana joaquina azova. Now, those who
say that, Oh Allah, we have believed, indeed we have believed. So forgive us for our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire. So in this two hours that the believers recite, they're using their faith the man they believe in Allah as a means of tourism. So in Surat, for example for a person to make to Allah and say, Oh Allah, because I believe in you, because of my a man, then I will not give me such and such a will not granting such and such. And this is what a lot of xojo is saying in this verse. Based upon the man because of their belief in Allah. They using it as a means of coming closer to Allah because it is a righteous action, which Allah subhanho wa Taala loves in
the Sunnah of our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, there's a famous Hadith, which many of you may have heard before, when three men entered into a cave, and the mouth of the cave was closed by a boulder and they weren't able to move the boulder they weren't able to shift it. And so they said to one another, no one will save you from this except Allah. So make to our to a law using your righteous actions, make tawassul to him, using righteous actions, less than Allah subhanho wa Taala will save you from this ordeal. So each one of these three men began to make while using a righteous action. The first man used made Dre using his respect and his kindness that you showed towards his
parents. So he said I will allow from that which he said over lunch.
You know that I have two elderly parents, and I feed them and I give them water to drink or milk to drink before I even feed my own family.
And there was a day when I came home late. And so by the time I took my the food to them, or the smoke to them, they had already fallen asleep. And so I disliked that I should go and leave them before having given them this food or this, this, this thing to drink, and go and feed my own family first. So I remain there for the whole night, because he didn't want to wake them out of respect for them. And he also didn't want to feed his own family first out of respect and kindness towards them. So he stayed with them for the whole night. And then they awoke in the morning. And then he gave them this food or drink. And so he says, I won't lie if I did this sincerely for your sake, then our
law alleviate that which we have fallen into. And so a part of the Golden move, it was still unable to get out. And then the second man he made as well. And he said, I will allow you know that my uncle had a daughter. And she was someone that I had desires for had feelings for. And I wanted to enter into a relationship with her, but she refused to do so. until a year a famine came upon her and she was in poverty, she was in need. So I said to her that I will give you a certain amount and in some narrations 120 details on the condition that you make Zina that you fornicate with me Will it be able to be loved. And so she agreed. And then we were when we were secluded and alone, she
said, Fear Allah that she reminded me that a larger region is watching. And so I left her and he gave her the money as well. And so I will lie if I did this sincerely for your sake, then remove this boulder from us. And then again, part of the boulder was removed. And then the third man made dragon, he said Allah, there were a group of people who came to me and they were working with me. They were my employees. And at the end of the employment, each one of them took their wages, except for one man. He left and he didn't take his money. So I took that money, and I invested it in for him. I continued to invest the money until after some time he came, and he asked for the money. So I
said to him that everything you see in front of you, all the sheeps and camels and cows, everything you see is yours, it belongs to you. And so the man said, Don't walk with me, don't just mean don't joke with me. And he said, I'm not joking, all of this is for you. And the man took all of it and he went our life I did this for your sake, then we move this from us. And then the boulders removed, and then three men were able to come out of the cave. And so this hadith shows that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is allowing and sanctioning us to use our righteous actions to come to Allah. And when most of us make to our we rarely use our righteous actions. So someone will really
say that Oh Allah, because of my prayer, then give me this or because of these righteous actions that we perform kindness to our parents, or feeding our families or giving in charity and so on and so forth. That Oh Allah blesses and bestow upon us whatever you it is that we need based upon our righteous actions and this is something which is allowed.
The third type of tawassul is a tawassul be solid and high, that you make torsen that you seek to come closer to Allah, using the law of a living righteous individual, someone that is living and again, these are the operative words they have to be living. And there is obviously someone that you feel is righteous someone that is in that position that can help and you ask them to make for you and this is of two types. And this is something which is common amongst Muslims right normally, when someone goes for Hajj or for hammer or something everyone says to them, make to ask for us. So, we do this anyway, on most occasions. So this is one way that you ask that person to make trial for
you. The second type is when that individual makes to allow for you from his own accord, of his own accord. So for example, he may come across a person and you can tell that that person is in difficulty. So without being asked, he makes to have for them that Allah has a system. This is a type of person which is allowed. And this is also mentioned in the Sunnah of our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And one of those examples is the Hadith of the Bedouin man who entered upon the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in the Juma prayer and the prophets of Salaam was given the hotbar and he said, O Messenger of Allah, our animals and our, our, our vegetation, our produce, all
of it is being destroyed because there is no rain. So allow me to so the prophets of Salaam make dua to Allah, that he blesses us with rain. And so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam raised his hands he made to her and it began to rain. And in some narrations and assembly mallinckrodt the alarm language says that it ran that it began to rain with such force that even the able bodied the fit men were running home.
Because of the severity of the rain, it was so strong that even the strong men were running to seek shelter. And then that rain continued for a whole week until in the following jumar another man came, and he said, O Messenger of Allah, The rain is beginning to destroy our land and our property. So as a lot that he should stop this when so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam again me dry, and he said, Oh Allah around us and not above us. And then the rain clouds dispersed and the rain stopped. So here these people are asking the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to make dua for them. And the prophets of Salaam is obviously a righteous individual. And he's also living. And this
is also important, because when we come to the next section of the types of diversity that aren't allowed, you will find that people normally make two out of the prophets of Salaam during his death and this is not allowed. So when the prophets of Salaam was alive, or another righteous individual than this something which is allowed, and this is why Amara de la hora. And during his free lava, he would make to our using a bus, even Abdulmutallab rhodiola, when the uncle of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and he would say oh Miss O Allah, during the life of your messenger, we would use the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. If there is a person who is righteous, and they are living, and you want them to make dua for you, then this is something which is allowed under Sharia law, there is no harm in that. The fourth type of service so that is allowed that some scholars mentioned and others don't mention
is that you make dua to Allah, using your current situation, that you seek to come closer to Allah using your current situation. And that means normally, when you're in a state of poverty, on you're in some need, or some difficulty, that you ask a lot to help you in that state. And a larger region, as we know is from the etiquettes of Dora, that Allah is more likely to answer the door of a person when he displays his poverty and his need to Allah. And this is why it was reported from shekel Islam divinity, Mia Rahim Allah, that when he would sometimes want to make dua, he would roll himself around in the ground in the dust, so that he would look disheveled and dirty and in need and
poverty. And then he would make dua to Allah subhanho wa Taala. And this is also mentioned in the Quran, from the Prophet Musa alayhis salam, and he went to the people of Midian. And he helped those women get water for the animals. And then he went and he made the route to a lion, he said, for sakala Houma, amatola, in a windy fucka, Nairobi in neelima, and delta,
after he gathered water for them, he said, Oh, one law, that which I have now found, I am in need and poverty of so large, so we don't have given him a group of people that would take him in. And he is making the app because he's just left the people of Egypt, and he's run away from them. And so he used to need in poverty, and he makes throw to Allah subhanho wa Taala, based upon this. So these are the four types of tourists that are allowed tawassul using the names and attributes of Allah tawassul using righteous actions traversal using the drop of a living, righteous individual, and tawassul using a person's current situation of poverty and need. And then we move on to the second
part, which is the prohibited types of traversal. And as I mentioned before, the general rule is that everything other than these four is prohibited, but I want to touch on a number of them, and bring them to your attention anyway, simply because they are common mistakes that many Muslims fall into the first type of prohibited tawassul seeking to come close to Allah, using means that are prohibited is that you use a person's an individual, use an individual, because of that individual you seek to come closer to Allah. So you say for example, because of my father of Allah, allow me to do this, or grant me this. So it's not because of a person's righteous actions? No Is it because
that person is righteous, and they're making dua on your behalf, but you're using the personality of that individual to come closer to Allah and this isn't allowed to use just a personality or an individual, and for no other reason. So for example, to say because of so and so, I will not recommend this. And this is exactly what mushrikeen of the Arabs would do. They would use and come closer to allow using the gods and lateral Rosa. And other than that, another type of prohibited tawassul is that you make drive to the dead, those who can't assist you the drive to the dead, and you ask them that they are the ones who help you in the sight of Allah. And Allah azza wa jal
mentions this in the Quran and he mentioned it as being prohibited when he says in the Quran

our Lahontan or because so and so was the Prophet Allah helped me or because so and so is a righteous person, or he has memorized the Quran, Allah helped me. And this isn't allowed, because there is a lot of Xhosa himself, who decides whether these people and the actions are accepted or not. So these are some of the types of sundara This allowed. And normally, when you come to these types of services aren't allowed, you will find that they have no evidence for them. So they won't have any evidence from the book of Allah, or from the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. And each one of these types of tawassul, that are prohibited, are normally also a means to
ship. There are normally also a way to ship. And this is how she first began, before the time of the Prophet alayhi salatu salam, when those five people that Eliza which I mentioned in the Quran, five righteous men died, what and so are on your booth and your openness. So they passed away. And so she Pon came to those people. And he said to them, he believes, he said to them, he came in the form of a man and he said, these were righteous people amongst you. So why don't you erect statues in the images, and every time you see them, you will be reminded of the good of their righteousness, and then you will also do righteous actions. So the beginning was not about worshipping other than
Allah, it was a simple reminder that a person should be righteous. And this was how it began. And then after a number of generations, when those people had passed away, and those people who came after them no longer knew the reason why those idols had been erected, a police again came to them in a form of the man and he said, Why are these idols present amongst you? Why are they here. And so the people said, we don't know, we found our fathers, looking upon them and respecting them. And we did the same. And so he said to them, indeed, they were there for worship. And that was when the people began to worship other than Allah. So normally, when a person uses a righteous person that
has died, or uses the personality or the situation or the station of a person and their status, then this is a means that can lead to shift. And often you find amongst Muslims today, when you go to many countries around the world, that they will go and make to add to the debt. And they will go and make tawaf around graves. And they will ask them to make to help them in the offense. And this is all a means of shall. And even when you go to Medina to the mosque of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, you will find many, many people making dua to the grave of the prophets of Salaam to the prophets of Salaam, not for the prophets of Salaam, but to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
asking him to help them. And I've even seen with my own eyes, people go into mesh the number one, and instead of praying towards the Qibla, they face towards the grave of the prophecy of them, and they pray towards it. Or if they want to make where they will go and make dua towards the grave of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. And all of this is a means that we need to ship

So when a person normally says he's the only of Allah is normally not the case. And when you look at the history of Islam, you will find that there were many of those who were only Avila that they never bought themselves out and they never made this status, made this statement. If you look at for example, even Abu Bakr, Rama Rosman, and Ollie, all of them were only avola they were close friends
of Allah, and Allah azza wa jal gave them many blessings bestowed upon them many amazing things. None of them would ever claim to be a really have a lot. In fact, it was the opposite. You have statements of the likes of Abu Bakr and Omar, who say the right, if I had a single action that I think would be accepted in the sight of Allah, I would place all of my trust on that action, just a single action, because this is how much they belittle themselves.
