And then right after the Hijjah you have Muharram and SubhanAllah. If you read the history behind the Muharram and why Muharram is the beginning of the new year in the Islamic calendar. And some suggested various months, some suggested who will some suggested the month of the hijab, the

But the point is that many of us are looking for a fresh new start, let this be a fresh new start a time that we come close to Allah subhanho wa Taala the past is the past, as he says in English, you can cry over spilled milk no matter how much you regret over the past, no matter how much you want to go and change the past. It is absolutely impossible. Yes, we learn from our past, we learn from our mistakes, but then the future is lies in our hand. What we do in the in the future is all within our control. that we always do our own has ever taken account of ourselves every single day, we take an account of our bank account, we take an account of our retirement funds, we are looking towards the future, we are looking at our surrounding and how the world is changing. And we're worried about our financial well being into the future. Can I have a startup? Can I do this? Can I do that? All in all in the mindset of money all under the idea that how can I make more but how many of us have actually sat down on a daily basis? If not daily, weekly basis, if not weekly, monthly basis and just ask ourselves, where am I in terms of my Deen? This is why Allah subhanho wa Taala he says in the Quran,

I want to get married to her such as such, brother, I want to get married to her. You know, what's the first advice I give to everyone? First you need to study yourself. First you need to reflect on your own self who are you as a human being? Who are we as a human being? What flaws do I have? What strengths do I have? If I have strengths I maintain that and whatever flaws I have, I have to work upon that. This is called Maha Sabha. This is where we are talking about self improvement. And as they say even when it talks when

you talk about Nia in nama Amelie, when you were in no Malika Lima in Manoa, you get what you intend for, you know, subhanAllah, even if you read books on productivity, and how to be efficient in life, and how to be effective in life, the one the very first things that you were always taught is that you begin with the end in mind. You begin with the end in mind, as anyone who has written books on this subject, begin with the end in mind, what's the end? The end is eventually Jana, that is where we all want to be, but how do we get there, we need to reflect on ourselves. And that is when we will learn our flaws. And then we will make a plan to overcome those faults. So let us be a moment

of reflection, a moment of coming back to Allah Allah subhanho wa taala. Once again, Islamically there is no dua there is no you know, there is no armor that is done at the beginning of Muharram. But we live in a culture that we're looking, you know, we talk about new year resolutions, this is the Islamic New Year. So let us be a moment of that. Now, one more thing I do want to mention is that when it comes to these kinds of events in our Islamic calendar, I really strongly urge everyone to sit down with your kids, and remind them of this, we need to teach our children about our Islamic lunar calendar. This is the day when the battle of Buddha took place. This is the day that the

battle took place. This is the day where perhaps, of course, there's always going to be some stuff. This is the day perhaps Israel in Mirage took place. This is the day where the person he was born. These are events. I'm not saying making, you know, we're not talking about you know, having a big event and so forth. I'm not talking about that right now. I'm simply saying that sit down with your children and teach them and tell them about this and tell them that even Muharram what happened in Muharram this whole history of Karbala and so forth. If anything, we learned how to stand in front of injustice, how to face injustice, and how to stand against injustice. This is what we learned

from that story, if anything else, so this is why we need to teach our children about the Islamic lunar calendar, do not think that it's a bit odd and so forth. No, this is completely wrong. Sit down and teach them this is something very important. And lastly I will say is that when we talk about making improvements when we talk about you know becoming better. One of the very first places I mentioned is the Quran. And in regards to that Inshallah, I want to remind everyone that starting September 1 Inshallah, September 1, we are starting a Quran program only only for adults. Many of the adults have come forward and they have said, we have so many programs for the sisters in the

morning hours. We have so many programs for the children in the evening hours, where is the adults? Where can we learn Quran? So inshallah starting September 1, we're going to have a Quran program between Muslim southern Muslim in Southeast Asia. For that we do need everyone to register whoever chooses to learn Inshallah, we'll go through the basics of Tajweed Inshallah, we will go through the corridor, and then we will eventually journey into the Quran.
