Shall I Pray Witr With Imam Or At Home After My Tahajjud

I'm being led in total we have by the Imam and he concludes the night with wittra and I know the prophets I seldom said to pray with the man from the beginning till the end, but I feel the need to pray more for my tahajjud is this something that I can do? What's the best way to accomplish this
