Abu Darda radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu narrates that I

holding the hem of his garment so that
his knees were exposed. On seeing this, the
messenger of Allah, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,
this friend of yours has landed in some
trouble. He He then greeted the messenger of
Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and said, oh,
messenger of Allah, an argument took place between
myself and Umar Abdul Khattab.
I was quite angry with him, then I
regretted my action and asked him to forgive
me, but he refused so I came to
you. The messenger of Allah
said, may Allah forgive you, oh Abu Bakr.
He said this three times. And in the
meanwhile, Umar went to the house of Abu
Bakr and asked, is Abu Bakr here? The
people of the house replied, no. Then he
went to the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam and greeted him. The face of
the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
changed color,
displaying his extreme anger until Abu Bakr became
terrified.
He sat up on his knees and said
twice, oh, messenger of Allah,
by Allah I was at fault. The messenger
of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
said, when Allah
sent you to me or sent me to
you, Afan, everybody accused me of lying except
for Abu Bakr who said he is speaking
the truth, and he helped me with his
life and with his wealth. So you leave
this friend of mine alone for my sake.
He said this twice. Thereafter, no one ever,
caused difficulty to Abu Bakr.
So this is the one, the one who
loves him.
It's a sign that,
Allah loves that person.
And the one who is his enemy, it's
a sign that that person has made enemies
with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala because the one
who makes enemies with the rasul, sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam,
gets Allah's enmity with that for free.
And,
this is what the Rasulullah
said about him. So a person should be
very careful about how he thinks and talks
about these people. And obviously, every negative thing,
there's a very positive other side of the
coin that the one who loves him don't
underestimate what the value of that is. In
the court of Allah Ta'ala, it means a
lot. A person might think, well, I didn't
pray enough. I didn't read enough Quran. I
didn't do this. I didn't do that. Insha'Allah,
do all those things and do them more.
But,
don't be surprised on the day of judgment
if the love of,
the companions,
the love of and
their love of those who are close to
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam from his
and from his close companions in Mujajir and
Ansar weighs heavier in the scale pants than
than after and Allah knows best.
His services to Islam during his caliphate,

of the army was
because his father was the commander of the,
army at the battle of Mu'tah.
And his father was Shaheed in the path
of Allah ta'ala. So the flag that was
handed to his father was handed to him.
And so it was a very deliberate decision
by by the prophet and
he saw in him
some capacity, some,
competence,
some bravery, some strength, some intelligence,
some qualification for it. But still the people
were reasonably
concerned that he was just a teenager at
the time. When the Rasool
passed from this world,
the army was already ready and he was
already at the head of it and they
were already gathered,
at the edge of the city and they
were ready to go.
So
unrest started. People started to,
think and talk and act out sedition.
And now this army is gonna go fight
the Romans.
And so the Ansar said no more whom
are justifiably
concerned and
who brings this,
brings this,
reputation of their concern,
by saying what? His rejoinder is the messenger
of Allah
appointed him, and you're asking me not to
remove him from his post.
Abu Bakr
who went out in person to bid farewell
to the army.
He was walking while Usama
who was riding his animal. Meaning what? That
this is a sign that he
appointed him to leadership in in this army.
Osama
said to him, oh, caliph of the messenger

He replied, by Allah, you will neither dismount

feet in the path of Allah? In each
step that a warrior makes in the cause
of Allah, there are 700 good deeds recorded
in his favor and he's elevated 700 ranks
and 700 evils are wiped off his record.
Abu Bakr
then advised Osama and his companions saying, do
not act treacherously.
Do not deceive or steal, from the war
booty.
Do not mutilate or kill children or the
elderly. Do not dig up date palms nor
burn them. Do not chop down fruit bearing
trees.
Do not slaughter sheep, cattle, and camels unless
for the purposes of food. If you pass
by a people who have devoted themselves to
monasteries, leave them aside for their worship. If
you come across people who have shaved off
the center of their head, tonsure,
and left a portion surrounding
it resembling a, a headband or a turban,
strike,
their heads with your sword.
When food is offered to you,
pronounce the name of Allah over it. Oh,
Usama, do what the messenger of Allah Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam ordered you to do with the
land of Quba'ah,
then go to Abel and do not fall
short of what he ordered. Then he bid
him farewell at Al Juf.
So look at this, Wasia that he gave

destroy people's livelihoods and who make this world
* for people and the next world literally
a * for people.

Matters of apostasy.
After the passing of the messenger of Allah
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, a major crisis afflict
afflicted Islam
without the wisdom of Abu Bakr riallahu anhu.
Islam would have been weakened and the power
of the Muslims would have been crippled. As
soon as the Arabs learned of the passing
of the messenger of Allah,
many of them forsook Islam.
None amongst them remained steadfast on the religion
except for the Quraysh, Makkah, Thaqif, and Ta'if,
and a few other tribes. The renegades were
then divided into 2. 1, those who abandoned
Islam wholesale. There are Banu Tayid, Banu Asad,
and those who followed them from Ghatafan. All
of them were under the influence of Dhulaiha
ibn Khwarel al Asadi.
There was amongst them Banu Hanifa who then
followed Musaylama, the false prophet of Banu Hanifa
and the people of Yemen who followed the
false prophet Aswad al Ansi
amongst many others. So this is the first
group. All outright apostasy.
And then the second group was who those
who refused to and so, you know, their
modern
inheritors, masha'Allah, fielded a candidate to run for
congress
in Naperville recently.
And we have stupid Muslims.
Stupid Muslims. We won't say that they're part
of the first group. They're just dumb Insha'Allah.
May Allah protect us from such a stupidity
that alienates us from Allah and His Rasool
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam that are egging people onto,
you know, join that that crowd and join
that click. That project is not something that
Muslims partake in. It's not a project that
Muslims partake in. The second group, those who
refused to pay zakat. Amongst them were some
from Banu Tamim
under the leadership of Malik bin Nwaira,
Banu Hawazin,
and others.
Abu Bakr whose
position was to wage war against those who
refused to pay zakat just as with the
apostates because the rejection of zakat not only
threatened the prayer but also other aspect aspects
of Islam.
Who said to him, oh Abu Bakr, how
can you fight a people when the messenger
of Allah
said I have been ordered to fight the
people until they testify that there is none
worthy of worship except Allah. Whoever testifies that
there is none worthy of worship except Allah,
his wealth, and his life is safe for
me
except for what is due thereof and his
final account is with Allah. Abu Bakr replied,
by Allah, I will fight against those who
differentiate between the salat and between zakat.
Zakat is due on wealth. By Allah, if
they refuse to give me a kid, meaning
a young goat, which they used to give
the messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wa sallam,
I will fight them. Omar
said, by Allah, when I realized that Allah
had inspired Abu Bakr
to wage war on those who refused to
pay zakat, I accepted it,
that it was the right thing to do.
Abu Bakr
rallied all of his forces together. He was
calm in the face of grave circumstances,
the smallness of his army, and the might
of his enemy. He placed his trust entirely
in the words of Allah. If you come
to the aid of Allah, Allah will come
to your aid, and he will make firm
your steps. We will now mention the wars
against the apostates to apprise you of the
triumph of a man who placed his trust
in his lord
and considered all difficulties insignificant.
Moreover, we narrate this so that all Muslims
may learn of the actions of the first
successor of the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam when the Muslims were like sheep
scattered on a rainy night, few in numbers
while their enemies were many and the atmosphere
dark after the Muslims had just lost the
messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
Well, Abu Bakr
waited for the army of Osama bin Zayd
descended upon them. They were from Najd, the
area adjacent to and the mountain.
Some of them descended up to Abraq on
the or and and others onto Dhul Qasa,
two places to the northeast of Medina in
the direction of Najd. A group from Banu
Asad and those related to them from Kinana
had joined them. They sent a delegation to
Abu Bakr with a request that they limit
themselves to prayer and abstain from zakat. He
refused and sent them back frustrated. Abu Bakr
feared for the safety of the houses of
Medina. So he appointed Ali and Talha and
Zubair and Abdullah bin Mas'ud to
to
guard over the entrances of Medina and also
ordered the residents to remain confined to the
mosque.
Meanwhile, the delegation that refused to pay Zakat
returned to their people, encouraging them to attack
Medina with reports of the small number of
people there, so they attacked.
Those who were keeping guard over the entrances
sent a message to Abu Bakr
who came with the Muslims mounted on camels
and the enemy fled. The Muslims chased them
to,
a valley near Medina, where a group supporting
the enemy advanced toward the Muslims with inflated
water skins tied with ropes,
rolling on them toward, the camels of the
Muslims, which bolted back and ran to Medina.
It's a ruse to scare the camels. None
of the Muslims fell off by the grace
of Allah.
Abu Bakr radiya Allah 1, who then came
out at night with the pursuing party and
advanced toward the enemy. And remember, he's only
2 years younger than the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam. He's 60 years old 61 years
old at this time.
So he came out he came out at
night,
and and Blitzkrieg, the the enemy,
when the army was gone. The army is
up fighting the Romans.
He advanced pursuing the enemy,

It just scatters them, disperses them. They just

Allah gave them.
If we think we're outnumbered, they were more
outnumbered. If we think we're undergunned and under
educated and under
funded and under, this and under that, under
trained, Allah
showed them through supernatural means what the way
through all of this black night was. Just
like Allah opened a bay,
a chasm in the Red Sea for said
the most alayhis salami and his people. And
the proof of that, the proof that this
is not just tall tales and fairy tales
is that, look, all of these people entered
into Islam,
and have been Muslims, from that time until
this. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gives no faith.
Allah Wa Ta'ala fill our hearts with their
love.
You know,
these are big things, they're hard things. Just
don't fight it. Just allow your heart to
love it inshallah. Then that love will build
inside of your heart and Allah will show
you a way. He'll show you a way
of doing something good with it and not
being written and counted amongst the people who
turn their backs and, you know, root for
the Sahaba when they're reading storybooks, but root
for the hypocrites in their real life. Allah
give us to be from the forward and
not from the latter.
