00:00:00 --> 00:00:03

So there's Ramadan is a very good time for this I forgot this month

00:00:03 --> 00:00:07

because Ramadan is terminally destabilized Leslie you're feeling

00:00:07 --> 00:00:10

that hunger you're feeling helpless you're feeling vulnerable

00:00:10 --> 00:00:13

is the time to think about this and to channeling in the right way

00:00:14 --> 00:00:19

last session we can we will give the Imam Gonzales and then the

00:00:19 --> 00:00:23

second part of it I did in another Masjid it's online now. There's

00:00:23 --> 00:00:25

one thing he says that I used to feel guilty you know, when you

00:00:25 --> 00:00:29

feel hungry, thirsty and weak in your fast you feel kind of

00:00:29 --> 00:00:32

miserable. So before I used to feel like why do I feel like this

00:00:32 --> 00:00:36

should feel energetic, just like normal and do everything.

00:00:37 --> 00:00:40

Right, you know what I'm saying? You feel a bit vulnerable, you

00:00:40 --> 00:00:43

feel a bit helpless, right? He says that's a good feeling.

00:00:43 --> 00:00:46

Because that should make you think Allah wants to create that in you

00:00:46 --> 00:00:50

so that you get a bit destabilized so that you can reorient and think

00:00:50 --> 00:00:52

of it because when you're in a confident state, you don't think

00:00:52 --> 00:00:56

we just carry on. But when we're in that kind of helpless state, we

00:00:57 --> 00:00:59

try to do things so

00:01:00 --> 00:01:04

that's why I've started enjoying the state now and not feeling as

00:01:04 --> 00:01:09

miserable as I used to. But why am I feeling like this? Because you

00:01:09 --> 00:01:12

know, you don't all feel the same to you or is it just me?

00:01:13 --> 00:01:15

So, Allah Tala make it easy.

00:01:20 --> 00:01:24

Smilla Rahmanir Rahim Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil Alameen wa salatu

00:01:24 --> 00:01:28

salam ala so you didn't Marcelino either early or Safi edge marine

00:01:30 --> 00:01:32

and bird call Allahu Taala Isla

00:01:33 --> 00:01:35

affiliated balloon Quran.

00:01:36 --> 00:01:37

So doc Allahu La vie.

00:01:39 --> 00:01:43

Today we're going to look at to aphorisms, we're on page 133,

00:01:43 --> 00:01:46

which is the new chapter on chapter eight on meditation.

00:01:47 --> 00:01:52

It's a bit deep, but inshallah it should be comprehensible and will

00:01:52 --> 00:01:57

give us Inshallah, something to do. Very interesting to aphorisms.

00:01:57 --> 00:02:03

This is number 260. He says, if no other Illa Rahim Allah Allah bless

00:02:03 --> 00:02:09

him, he says elphic el fichero to say we'll call it female de Lille,

00:02:09 --> 00:02:14

Aria el fichero, to say roll call beefy Maya D in VR.

00:02:15 --> 00:02:20

So just to put a little bit of introduction here, when we embark

00:02:20 --> 00:02:24

on the path of Allah subhanaw taala there's a number of things

00:02:24 --> 00:02:29

that relate to this that are associated with this. One of them

00:02:29 --> 00:02:32

is obviously focused on Allah subhana wa Tada concentration

00:02:32 --> 00:02:35

Allah subhanho wa Taala remembrance of Allah subhanho wa

00:02:35 --> 00:02:37

Taala This is the ultimate

00:02:38 --> 00:02:43

goal of a Salic somebody who's trying to get close to Allah.

00:02:43 --> 00:02:46

They're trying to think about Allah, they're trying to remember

00:02:46 --> 00:02:49

Allah subhanho wa Taala and they're trying to attain the

00:02:49 --> 00:02:52

Presence of Allah subhana wa Tada. That's what we're trying to do,

00:02:52 --> 00:02:57

right? That's what this part is all about. So in order to gain my

00:02:57 --> 00:03:01

refer, which means knowledge of Allah, awareness of Allah

00:03:01 --> 00:03:04

consciousness of Allah, there's a few things that we're told to do.

00:03:04 --> 00:03:07

We're told to remember Allah subhanho Sit down, do some vicar.

00:03:07 --> 00:03:11

Walk around and do thicker and remember Allah subhana wa Tada. So

00:03:11 --> 00:03:15

now he's talking about a concept called thicker. So there's the

00:03:15 --> 00:03:17

thicker, the thicker. There's maraca

00:03:18 --> 00:03:24

vigilance. And a number of these ideas. They're all related, just

00:03:24 --> 00:03:29

to get somebody to focus on Allah subhanaw taala. So today, he's

00:03:29 --> 00:03:34

discussing a thicker and thicker means meditation means just

00:03:34 --> 00:03:38

contemplation. When you see anything, it should take you to

00:03:38 --> 00:03:42

Allah subhanaw taala. Whenever you see anything, it should remind you

00:03:42 --> 00:03:43

of ALLAH because ALLAH is behind everything.

00:03:45 --> 00:03:49

Allah behind everything means that he is the causer of everything. He

00:03:49 --> 00:03:52

is the Creator of everything. He is the nourisher of everything,

00:03:52 --> 00:03:55

the Sustainer of everything, the designer of everything, that

00:03:55 --> 00:03:59

empower of everything. So there's no way that you can miss it. It's

00:03:59 --> 00:04:03

just that we usually stop. Oh, that's a nice camera. Or we stop

00:04:03 --> 00:04:06

there. That's a nice guy. He's very kind.

00:04:08 --> 00:04:09

That's a really bad guy.

00:04:10 --> 00:04:13

And then we stop there. We don't go beyond that.

00:04:14 --> 00:04:19

Oh, look, that's so beautiful. That is so amazing. That is

00:04:19 --> 00:04:25

massive. That's enormous. It's splendid. It's fascinating. And we

00:04:25 --> 00:04:25

stopped there.

00:04:26 --> 00:04:29

So we look at the VA here. Everybody does that they

00:04:29 --> 00:04:31

appreciate. They

00:04:33 --> 00:04:37

acknowledge the apparent what we see. But then we don't see why

00:04:37 --> 00:04:41

it's splendid, why it's great, why it's majestic. Why it's an issue.

00:04:42 --> 00:04:46

Why it's a problem, why it's causing us if it's causing us

00:04:46 --> 00:04:49

problems, right. Why it's so beautiful. We don't think about

00:04:49 --> 00:04:50

that.

00:04:52 --> 00:04:55

I mean, if you somebody Salam could seize the day ha and then

00:04:56 --> 00:04:59

think about Allah subhanho wa taala, the creator of that beauty,

00:04:59 --> 00:05:00

that's me.

00:05:00 --> 00:05:05

Using. So he's saying that if you don't have this flicker, we're not

00:05:05 --> 00:05:08

going to get far. So he's saying that kind of meditation

00:05:08 --> 00:05:11

ultimately, that's what he's gonna say that kind of meditation or

00:05:11 --> 00:05:15

what is meditation? Alright? He's saying what is meditation,

00:05:15 --> 00:05:20

meditation and flicker to focus and contemplate and concentrate

00:05:20 --> 00:05:24

and meditate? What where should you be doing this? He's saying

00:05:24 --> 00:05:30

that is the voyage of the heart in the domains of alternatives. Now,

00:05:30 --> 00:05:30

that sounds a bit

00:05:32 --> 00:05:35

a bit complicated, but what it really all it's saying is that

00:05:35 --> 00:05:41

what Ficker is, is to take a voyage in anything and everything

00:05:41 --> 00:05:44

besides Allah subhanho wa taala. Because we come across these

00:05:44 --> 00:05:48

things on it, we can't escape these things were living, we are

00:05:48 --> 00:05:51

one of those things. We are somebody besides Allah subhana wa

00:05:51 --> 00:05:55

Tada we are creation of Allah Maha Luke of Allah, and everything is.

00:05:55 --> 00:06:00

So I see the AC, I see the heater, I see the clock. All of this is

00:06:01 --> 00:06:06

Allah's creation. So it's a voyage in all of these things. The car

00:06:06 --> 00:06:06

outside,

00:06:07 --> 00:06:13

right, the trees, the roads, the beautiful weather, or the bad

00:06:13 --> 00:06:16

whether this is all a voyage, all of that should be taken us to

00:06:16 --> 00:06:21

Allah. So he's saying, meditation is the voyage of the heart, in the

00:06:21 --> 00:06:25

domain of all of these creative things. That's what Allah wants

00:06:25 --> 00:06:28

from us. All of these things should remind us of Allah because

00:06:28 --> 00:06:31

they're all of them. All of these things Ireland.

00:06:32 --> 00:06:37

Rubble, Alameen, Allah is the Lord of the universe is all of the

00:06:37 --> 00:06:41

worlds. So Adam, all of this is an item that you know whether we're

00:06:41 --> 00:06:44

an island in comes from it's, it's the plural of island. And the

00:06:44 --> 00:06:48

concept of Adam comes from concept of item, which means the same

00:06:49 --> 00:06:53

purpose person's name is Adam, his Adam is his name. Because that's

00:06:53 --> 00:06:56

what represents him. That's his identity.

00:06:57 --> 00:07:01

Alarm is another word we use, which means sign a signpost.

00:07:01 --> 00:07:05

Where's the alarm? Or for this? Where's the sign for this? So our

00:07:05 --> 00:07:08

alarm comes from the same concept. Everything is assigned to Allah?

00:07:09 --> 00:07:13

Are we using it as a sign is the question. So let's see how they

00:07:13 --> 00:07:18

explain this. So essentially, what the commentator is saying that

00:07:18 --> 00:07:22

anybody who has no time for that, they might appreciate the beauty

00:07:22 --> 00:07:27

of somebody stopped there. Whoever has no time to go beyond to go

00:07:27 --> 00:07:31

deeper to look at why the pen works so well.

00:07:32 --> 00:07:36

Why the book is so beautiful. Love flick Rotella. He has no

00:07:36 --> 00:07:39

meditation, he can't do meditation. That's the only way

00:07:39 --> 00:07:43

you can do meditations that way. Woman laffy Curatola. Now what's

00:07:43 --> 00:07:46

the problem? If you don't have meditation or contemplation?

00:07:46 --> 00:07:50

What's the issue? If I don't have it? Woman laffy Curatola, let's

00:07:50 --> 00:07:51

say Rolla,

00:07:52 --> 00:07:55

he can't voyage he doesn't have, he doesn't have a journey to

00:07:55 --> 00:07:58

undertake, he can't get anywhere. If you want to get to the

00:07:58 --> 00:08:00

objective, you have to undertake the journey. This guy's not on the

00:08:00 --> 00:08:04

journey. Woman last year, Allah and the one who's not on the

00:08:04 --> 00:08:08

journey. Now will soon Allah He can't reach. He's not going to get

00:08:08 --> 00:08:12

there. He's not going to attain his objective. So he's saying,

00:08:12 --> 00:08:16

essentially, this contemplation we're talking about and he

00:08:16 --> 00:08:19

translates it as meditation here, what we're talking about is

00:08:19 --> 00:08:23

essentially a voyage of the heart towards the presence of the Lord.

00:08:24 --> 00:08:27

We're trying to get to Allah behind everything. We're trying to

00:08:27 --> 00:08:30

find him everywhere. We want to notice him everywhere.

00:08:31 --> 00:08:35

And he says that that void has to be an it's going to be among

00:08:35 --> 00:08:38

everything because you can't see Allah. So it's everything he's

00:08:38 --> 00:08:41

created. That's what you see. That's what reminds us of Allah

00:08:41 --> 00:08:42

subhanaw taala.

00:08:44 --> 00:08:49

And the purpose of this is so that you can gain the sign from there

00:08:49 --> 00:08:53

about the existence of Allah subhanho wa Taala and everything

00:08:53 --> 00:08:58

about him, his lights, his beauty, his might.

00:08:59 --> 00:09:06

His craftsmanship, his ingenuity, and everything is subtlety, his

00:09:06 --> 00:09:09

graciousness, his bounty and benevolence.

00:09:10 --> 00:09:15

He says, this is only the starting point, he says, this kind of

00:09:15 --> 00:09:19

meditation to look around and get to Allah. This is vichara to a

00:09:19 --> 00:09:20

halal hijab.

00:09:21 --> 00:09:25

This is the meditation and contemplation of the people with a

00:09:25 --> 00:09:25

veil.

00:09:26 --> 00:09:31

These are the Veiled ones that I mean, if we don't even contemplate

00:09:31 --> 00:09:34

where are we then because this is still the level of the first

00:09:34 --> 00:09:35

group.

00:09:36 --> 00:09:37

The basic group

00:09:39 --> 00:09:42

well thicker to actually shoot those people who witness Allah

00:09:42 --> 00:09:44

subhanho wa Taala more deeply

00:09:45 --> 00:09:50

their soul is doing the voyage, their eyes on during the voyage.

00:09:50 --> 00:09:54

They've done that already. So they've reached it so they see it

00:09:54 --> 00:09:59

everywhere. They notice Allah subhanaw taala everywhere. So now

00:09:59 --> 00:09:59

it's

00:10:00 --> 00:10:03

their soul eventually starts to write I know this is very

00:10:03 --> 00:10:06

complicated because if you don't, this is a matter of experience is

00:10:07 --> 00:10:10

not even something that you can, you know, explain to somebody

00:10:10 --> 00:10:13

right? You know, you can't produce a video of this Can you write,

00:10:13 --> 00:10:17

because he says that the second level is when the soul will start

00:10:18 --> 00:10:23

to voyage among the realm of the lights, the special lights from

00:10:23 --> 00:10:24

Allah subhanaw taala.

00:10:26 --> 00:10:31

Or the secret aspects, things that are behind the veil.

00:10:32 --> 00:10:36

The second level is when you get to that level, and it's very

00:10:36 --> 00:10:40

clear, they will see that now this this sounds dodgy. This, this is

00:10:40 --> 00:10:44

problematic. This is not beneficial. This is not right. So

00:10:44 --> 00:10:49

the shade here, if not oil, he's discussing the first level. How to

00:10:49 --> 00:10:52

get us onto that. May Allah give us the two feet. He doesn't

00:10:52 --> 00:10:55

discuss the end, he should have discussed the answer. It gives us

00:10:55 --> 00:10:59

an idea of where to go with this. But he doesn't he doesn't discuss

00:10:59 --> 00:11:03

that part. There is another aphorism coming up where he opens

00:11:03 --> 00:11:08

these things up a bit more in sha Allah. Shake the rook Rahim Allah

00:11:08 --> 00:11:10

one of the great earlier he says,

00:11:11 --> 00:11:15

this contemplation this thinking about Allah, this thinking about

00:11:15 --> 00:11:19

all of these things to get you to Allah subhanaw taala. What that is

00:11:19 --> 00:11:20

really is

00:11:21 --> 00:11:26

for a person to allow his inner capability or capacity in a

00:11:26 --> 00:11:27

capacity

00:11:28 --> 00:11:31

of perception, comprehension.

00:11:33 --> 00:11:36

You know, everybody has a comprehension faculty, don't they?

00:11:37 --> 00:11:41

Where they comprehend things with that they acquire an understanding

00:11:41 --> 00:11:46

of things. It's called Kuwa Iraqi in Arabic, Iraq means

00:11:47 --> 00:11:51

a comprehension of something, I get that. Right, it clicked that

00:11:51 --> 00:11:55

kind of an idea, right? Where you just get something. So it's

00:11:55 --> 00:12:00

essentially to allow that to happen, and let it roam free among

00:12:00 --> 00:12:05

the creation of Allah subhanho wa Taala among this optimal heap, and

00:12:06 --> 00:12:12

essentially, among the unseen and the seen realities, so that we can

00:12:12 --> 00:12:15

really get an understanding of the reality of things.

00:12:17 --> 00:12:20

What do you mean by reality of things? How this phone is made?

00:12:20 --> 00:12:20

No.

00:12:21 --> 00:12:26

The reality is, the reality of the phone is how beneficial it is for

00:12:26 --> 00:12:29

me and how harmful it is for me how much I should use it, how much

00:12:29 --> 00:12:32

I should not use it. That's the reality.

00:12:33 --> 00:12:36

There's another reality, which is the mechanical reality or the

00:12:36 --> 00:12:39

technical reality, that's not we're talking about here. For me

00:12:39 --> 00:12:43

to speak to somebody, if a person does this, well, they will know

00:12:43 --> 00:12:46

whether it's beneficial and how to speak to this person and how much

00:12:46 --> 00:12:50

to speak to us. How much to engage someone how much to not engage

00:12:50 --> 00:12:54

somebody, when to say husband, Allahu Annette Milwaukee, and that

00:12:54 --> 00:12:57

should do the trick for you. And where he actually requires the

00:12:57 --> 00:12:58

response?

00:12:59 --> 00:13:01

Is that kind of wisdom we're talking about.

00:13:03 --> 00:13:07

That's what it means to get the hacky cut of something Allama

00:13:07 --> 00:13:12

here, ie, according to what is reality is in the grand realm of

00:13:12 --> 00:13:14

how it's going to affect us in this world and the hereafter.

00:13:15 --> 00:13:19

The wisest people are those who understand us. They don't waste

00:13:19 --> 00:13:19

their time.

00:13:21 --> 00:13:25

They don't engage in redundant ideas, they know how to deal with

00:13:25 --> 00:13:28

each issue as it comes about.

00:13:29 --> 00:13:33

Woman which are the dirty gopher who if anybody who gains this he

00:13:33 --> 00:13:35

is the RF he is the one who knows Allah No.

00:13:37 --> 00:13:41

Because he knows what Allah wants in everything, everything he deals

00:13:41 --> 00:13:44

with the food that he's having. He knows exactly what Allah the

00:13:44 --> 00:13:45

purpose of that food is for him.

00:13:47 --> 00:13:51

Even Otto Allah He uses the word RTR alternatives, meaning all

00:13:51 --> 00:13:54

other things besides Allah really, he could have just said Mark Liu

00:13:54 --> 00:13:59

cards, the creation of Allah, because everything is a creation

00:13:59 --> 00:14:01

of Allah asides from Allah, everything is creation of Allah.

00:14:02 --> 00:14:04

So he could have just said that it could have made life easier like

00:14:04 --> 00:14:04

that.

00:14:05 --> 00:14:07

There is a narration that

00:14:09 --> 00:14:12

the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam not sure how strong this

00:14:12 --> 00:14:15

narration is, it's interesting, but I'll just mention that I

00:14:15 --> 00:14:17

haven't been able to check its reference.

00:14:18 --> 00:14:23

It's been quoted by a commentator, ignore elgiva But he says once the

00:14:23 --> 00:14:26

Prophet sallallahu LysM saw a group of people sitting down

00:14:26 --> 00:14:28

contemplating I don't know if they were sitting down but they were

00:14:28 --> 00:14:31

contemplating they were thinking they were deep in thought it seems

00:14:31 --> 00:14:32

reflection

00:14:33 --> 00:14:37

so the prophets arson remain a de facto rule fill Hulk, wallet

00:14:37 --> 00:14:38

Africa roof in Harlock.

00:14:39 --> 00:14:41

reflects over creation,

00:14:43 --> 00:14:48

reflect over the creation process or creation itself. don't reflect

00:14:48 --> 00:14:51

over Allah. Meaning if you're going to try to refer How does

00:14:51 --> 00:14:55

Allah look? How big is he? Where is he? You're gonna get? That's

00:14:55 --> 00:14:58

deviance because we can never understand Allah

00:14:59 --> 00:15:00

you

00:15:00 --> 00:15:03

In terms of what he's made up of what it looks like, we know some

00:15:03 --> 00:15:06

attributes and so on as much as he tells us, but besides that it

00:15:06 --> 00:15:12

gets, it's not a realm for us for inocula kurunegala Hardcore cadre,

00:15:12 --> 00:15:15

because you're not going to be able to give that 100% estimation

00:15:15 --> 00:15:18

as much as this is right, you won't be able to get there. That's

00:15:18 --> 00:15:23

not your job anyway, your job is just to focus on the creation and

00:15:23 --> 00:15:25

how that relates to Allah. That's what we've given you. That's

00:15:25 --> 00:15:28

what's in front of you. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa

00:15:28 --> 00:15:31

sallam prohibited a people from trying to get an understanding of

00:15:31 --> 00:15:35

the Essence of Allah subhanaw taala, what he's made up of, and

00:15:35 --> 00:15:38

so on to try to get that reality because it's an impossibility for

00:15:38 --> 00:15:42

us to get there reality. Allah is an infinite being with finite

00:15:42 --> 00:15:45

beings, how does the finite being understanding Infinite Being?

00:15:46 --> 00:15:50

Let's take a simple example, write a simple example. Imagine there's

00:15:50 --> 00:15:54

a piece of paper, right, we got our little sister that writing on

00:15:54 --> 00:15:58

a piece of paper with a pen, what's happening is that that pen

00:15:58 --> 00:15:59

is moving around.

00:16:00 --> 00:16:05

And ink is flowing and making marks on that paper. Just imagine

00:16:05 --> 00:16:09

it, there's imagine there was a little ant, little ant on that

00:16:09 --> 00:16:13

piece of paper. And it's seen all of these marks appear, it's

00:16:13 --> 00:16:14

dodging the pen,

00:16:15 --> 00:16:19

you know, under the assumption that it's somebody like Imam

00:16:19 --> 00:16:22

Ghazali, who is not going to throw the entire way it's going to live,

00:16:22 --> 00:16:23

you know?

00:16:24 --> 00:16:26

Because his story about him that

00:16:27 --> 00:16:30

despite all of his greatness, and all that he did, and all that he

00:16:30 --> 00:16:33

contributed somebody saw him after his death, and how did you get to

00:16:33 --> 00:16:37

where you are? How did Allah deal with you? So Allah said, Okay,

00:16:37 --> 00:16:40

give me what you brought. So I gave you I said, I did this, I did

00:16:40 --> 00:16:44

that. He said, none, none of this matters to me. He says, I'm going

00:16:44 --> 00:16:46

to I'm going to give you forgiveness, because of one thing,

00:16:47 --> 00:16:52

you will want writing. And there was a fly or something that came

00:16:52 --> 00:16:55

and started feeding off the ink, you know, in those days, you could

00:16:55 --> 00:17:00

actually feed off ink. Because it was very watery, and you dipped

00:17:00 --> 00:17:02

your read pen into it. And

00:17:03 --> 00:17:07

and you let it do that. A little act like that a little simple act

00:17:07 --> 00:17:11

like that. And that's why you know, so let's just imagine this

00:17:11 --> 00:17:15

pen is writing. And it's making all of these swirls and marks on

00:17:15 --> 00:17:20

the on the earth on the ground on the right. So this act is thinking

00:17:20 --> 00:17:23

all of these marks are appearing, and this thing is creating, how

00:17:23 --> 00:17:27

far will the gaze and sight and vision of this angle? Or this

00:17:27 --> 00:17:30

little, little insects? How far will it go,

00:17:31 --> 00:17:35

it's gonna see the marks because the appearing under his feet, it's

00:17:35 --> 00:17:40

gonna see the nib and the pen and the ink flowing from it, it might

00:17:40 --> 00:17:42

be able to see the shaft of the pen, the pen

00:17:43 --> 00:17:48

itself, some of it, wow, that's massive. Imagine this whole thing

00:17:48 --> 00:17:53

do, who is he going to attribute that writing to and those marks to

00:17:53 --> 00:17:54

who is it going to attribute it to

00:17:55 --> 00:18:01

the pen, the nib is not going to attribute it to the fingers. The

00:18:01 --> 00:18:05

fingers are too far too too distant for it. None see the

00:18:05 --> 00:18:08

fingers, they're too distant, they're too big. They're out of

00:18:08 --> 00:18:10

division that

00:18:11 --> 00:18:13

doesn't reach there.

00:18:14 --> 00:18:18

And then the fingers, but the fingers aren't riding on their own

00:18:18 --> 00:18:20

or they the fingers are controlled by the hand.

00:18:22 --> 00:18:25

And the hand isn't writing on its own is controlled by the arm, and

00:18:25 --> 00:18:29

the arm is the person and the person is controlled by the mind

00:18:29 --> 00:18:33

and the heart. And, and the person is controlled by Allah subhanaw

00:18:33 --> 00:18:34

taala

00:18:36 --> 00:18:39

How is it gonna get to that level? It doesn't, it just looks at

00:18:39 --> 00:18:42

what's apparent. So we do we look at our parents, Allah wants us to

00:18:42 --> 00:18:46

go beyond that right to the Creator. That's why he's given us

00:18:46 --> 00:18:49

this apple. And all these reminders, no other creation. The

00:18:49 --> 00:18:54

world has books, has scriptures. They might have a language, but

00:18:54 --> 00:18:58

they don't have writing, do they? They might have signs, they leave

00:18:58 --> 00:19:02

Allama they leave signs for maybe other animals, you can tell right?

00:19:02 --> 00:19:06

They do droppings, they they really scent, and so on for one

00:19:06 --> 00:19:08

another. I'm writing

00:19:09 --> 00:19:12

only the human being well, I could call Ramona bunny Adam.

00:19:13 --> 00:19:15

We've honored the here human being to do that.

00:19:16 --> 00:19:17

So

00:19:19 --> 00:19:24

that's why the idea is that nobody can reach Allah, not the essence

00:19:24 --> 00:19:28

of ALLAH. We can reach an understanding of his signs and his

00:19:28 --> 00:19:32

attributes, how they function, how they provide the input in

00:19:32 --> 00:19:36

different things, but not that's why we're taught just don't even

00:19:36 --> 00:19:39

go there because you're going to get confused. You're going to

00:19:39 --> 00:19:43

become deviant if you do that. So the focus should be on the

00:19:43 --> 00:19:49

greatness of Allah, on the Majesty of Allah. On the beginning

00:19:49 --> 00:19:53

lessness of Allah that there was nothing he was there right from

00:19:53 --> 00:19:54

pre eternity.

00:19:56 --> 00:19:59

From beginningless eternity. He didn't suddenly come into being

00:20:00 --> 00:20:04

If he had to be there from before, otherwise, somebody would have had

00:20:04 --> 00:20:07

to create him. Somebody would have been a cause of his creation had

00:20:07 --> 00:20:11

he not been there and then he came into being afterwards. He is the

00:20:11 --> 00:20:14

one who is the cause of everybody else's creation. We think about

00:20:14 --> 00:20:18

Allah subhanho wa Taala is everlasting nature. He'll always

00:20:18 --> 00:20:22

be remaining. We speak about we think about Allah's oneness. Allah

00:20:22 --> 00:20:25

tells us that in the Quran, Allah mentions and evidence he says that

00:20:25 --> 00:20:28

had there been more than one God, there would have been there could

00:20:28 --> 00:20:32

have been chaos in this world. There is no chaos, it runs quite

00:20:32 --> 00:20:34

well. There's a bit of chaos here and there because of what humans

00:20:34 --> 00:20:39

do. Right? So we Marchesa with a V come because of your pollution, of

00:20:39 --> 00:20:41

plastic pollution, or the pollution of the seas and the S

00:20:41 --> 00:20:44

and the ozone layer and everything like that. But other than that,

00:20:44 --> 00:20:48

the sun rises every day. And it sets every day, and is a system,

00:20:48 --> 00:20:52

you have timetables made up, you can predict these things. That's

00:20:52 --> 00:20:55

Allah subhanaw taala is doing Had there been two Gods up there,

00:20:56 --> 00:20:58

there would have been chaos one or they said, I want this program to

00:20:58 --> 00:21:01

happen today. Another one may have said, I don't want it to happen

00:21:01 --> 00:21:05

today. What's going to happen now? Can you have a not have the

00:21:05 --> 00:21:08

program? I want this guy to do this? And the other is no, I want

00:21:08 --> 00:21:11

him to do this. Okay, what happens if the gods just agree?

00:21:12 --> 00:21:16

Well, then they're not very godly, or they, if they just agree, like,

00:21:16 --> 00:21:18

you know, yeah, we'll just do everything together. What kind of

00:21:18 --> 00:21:23

God is that God should be able to do what he wants. Right? So Gods

00:21:23 --> 00:21:26

are independent, they should be able to do it is this hypothesis,

00:21:26 --> 00:21:29

this is just pretending that that's the case, then it would

00:21:29 --> 00:21:32

have been a problem, they'd be massive chaos. You can't have two

00:21:32 --> 00:21:35

leaders of a country there's there's issues even one leader of

00:21:35 --> 00:21:41

a country and too many advisors, right? So the proof is that Allah

00:21:41 --> 00:21:44

subhanaw taala is one. So Allah tells us to think about his

00:21:44 --> 00:21:50

oneness. And the main thing is how Allah manifests Himself and His

00:21:50 --> 00:21:53

attributes, and his workmanship, his design and his beauty and

00:21:53 --> 00:21:58

everything else. throughout creation. Every one of us here is

00:21:58 --> 00:22:02

a sample of Allah's creation. That's why we're all unique. You

00:22:02 --> 00:22:05

might find somebody who looks like and sometimes that you know,

00:22:05 --> 00:22:09

because of my travels, I've seen both three instances of a single

00:22:09 --> 00:22:12

kind of person. But there's always something different.

00:22:13 --> 00:22:16

Right? So there could be somebody who looks like you.

00:22:17 --> 00:22:20

Right? Who resembles you somewhat, but there's going to be massively

00:22:20 --> 00:22:25

different. Even two twins, even a set of twins don't, are hardly

00:22:25 --> 00:22:30

ever identical. Hardly ever identical in terms of every

00:22:30 --> 00:22:36

aspect, behavior wise, temperament wise, thought process wise,

00:22:36 --> 00:22:39

emotion wise, it's just very, very different. That's Allah's

00:22:39 --> 00:22:43

creation. The faces are usually always always different. That's

00:22:43 --> 00:22:48

Allah's ability in these 1000s, or sorry, 1000s, billions of people

00:22:48 --> 00:22:49

to create them all independently, different

00:22:50 --> 00:22:51

and unique.

00:22:52 --> 00:22:56

That's what we should be focusing on. Wow, look what Allah has done.

00:22:57 --> 00:23:01

Not just admiring it for the sake of admiring it, but get to Allah

00:23:01 --> 00:23:04

that Allah is the One who the look what his power must be.

00:23:06 --> 00:23:09

This is not prohibited. This is commanded. Because that is what's

00:23:09 --> 00:23:13

going to get you to the marriage of Allah. That's what's going to

00:23:13 --> 00:23:19

let you know who Allah really is. Now, what is the

00:23:20 --> 00:23:25

what is this hijab? Right? What is this veil, then? Where does the

00:23:25 --> 00:23:28

veil come into it? The veil is the one that doesn't allow you to

00:23:28 --> 00:23:29

think beyond.

00:23:30 --> 00:23:32

It doesn't let you go beyond what you see, you just admire the

00:23:33 --> 00:23:37

apparent of what you see. And you don't go beyond that into the

00:23:37 --> 00:23:38

actual creation.

00:23:42 --> 00:23:45

That's why the people have Irfan. So the concept is called Irrfan,

00:23:45 --> 00:23:48

which means recognition and awareness of Allah, those who have

00:23:48 --> 00:23:53

modified this is called Irrfan, right in Arabic. So they are

00:23:53 --> 00:23:59

focusing on the majesty of the Creator, and his oneness and his

00:23:59 --> 00:24:03

eternal nature, how clear and evident he is, how strong and

00:24:04 --> 00:24:08

obvious he is, and how evident he is and so on. In fact, sometimes

00:24:08 --> 00:24:13

they could actually fully just focus on the substance without

00:24:13 --> 00:24:17

focusing on what the eyes will see. So when they see something,

00:24:17 --> 00:24:21

they actually see what's behind it. Not like physically they see,

00:24:21 --> 00:24:26

but they realize what's behind it. So they go from what they see to

00:24:27 --> 00:24:31

the grave, the unseen things which others will not see relatively

00:24:31 --> 00:24:35

speaking, they go from the creation to the Creator. So as

00:24:35 --> 00:24:38

soon as they see a creation, immediately the Creator comes to

00:24:38 --> 00:24:43

mind. You see a fallen and you know, he identifies as a Samsung

00:24:43 --> 00:24:47

fold. So you will immediately notice a Samsung phone, you see a

00:24:47 --> 00:24:51

phone and it looks like an iPhone, immediately you think of an

00:24:51 --> 00:24:55

iPhone, automatically they just recognize things like that it goes

00:24:55 --> 00:24:58

back to Allah subhanaw taala just the way we do things, you see a

00:24:58 --> 00:24:59

certain car you just see the light

00:25:00 --> 00:25:03

Do you know that this is a Mercedes

00:25:04 --> 00:25:09

because those are the particular lights that Mercedes have, or a

00:25:09 --> 00:25:11

Volkswagen has, or a BMW etc.

00:25:13 --> 00:25:16

You become so used to this you guys see a guy, a guy with a card

00:25:16 --> 00:25:21

you see a car with by him in our car, this is a person who whose

00:25:21 --> 00:25:24

focus is not the darkness he sees around him. But he sees the light

00:25:24 --> 00:25:29

through that where the light is, if only we can do that as well. So

00:25:29 --> 00:25:33

that is where now he discusses the next part. This is now the next

00:25:33 --> 00:25:38

aphorism. The next aphorism is 261. This is what he says he says,

00:25:38 --> 00:25:40

I'll flicker to Sirajul calm.

00:25:41 --> 00:25:46

Once you learn how to contemplate this contemplation, right, this

00:25:46 --> 00:25:49

meditation of yours, this flicker that you're going to do, that is

00:25:49 --> 00:25:52

going to become the lamp of your heart. Right now our hearts are

00:25:52 --> 00:25:57

dead. If you want to let them live and become bright and illuminated,

00:25:58 --> 00:26:02

the lamp of the heart is to contemplate this way. Because

00:26:02 --> 00:26:06

remember, everything we see it affects our hearts. It creates a

00:26:06 --> 00:26:09

desire, we see something we want it created, hey, I want one of

00:26:09 --> 00:26:13

those. I don't want one of those, you see something ugly, it's like

00:26:13 --> 00:26:17

a that's dirty, that's ugly, that's repugnant. All of that is

00:26:17 --> 00:26:21

being processed in the heart, all of this information, the heart is

00:26:21 --> 00:26:24

the clearing house, all of this information is being processed and

00:26:24 --> 00:26:27

filtered in the hearts. Once we start focusing on things for the

00:26:27 --> 00:26:30

right reason, the heart will become a lot healthier, and will

00:26:30 --> 00:26:31

become brighter.

00:26:32 --> 00:26:36

Then he says, for either the Herbert Villa your agenda,

00:26:37 --> 00:26:42

if this lamp goes, you have no contemplation. When it goes away,

00:26:42 --> 00:26:47

the heart has no illumination, it's a black dead heart may be

00:26:47 --> 00:26:51

caught. In a cardiac sense, it must be it's probably very

00:26:51 --> 00:26:54

healthy, right? pumping the blood around. But in terms of the

00:26:54 --> 00:26:55

spiritual aspect, it's dead.

00:26:57 --> 00:26:59

It's dead. So

00:27:00 --> 00:27:03

this is the way he they explain this, they saying that.

00:27:05 --> 00:27:09

For somebody to somebody to contemplate the majesty of the

00:27:09 --> 00:27:12

Creator, his oneness, that will give you light.

00:27:14 --> 00:27:16

The reason why I'll give you light is because Allah has created you,

00:27:16 --> 00:27:19

he wants you to recognize the right thing. So the programming

00:27:19 --> 00:27:22

that we have inside us is that once you understand that, it just

00:27:22 --> 00:27:26

benefits you, it's nourishing for you. Because that's how Allah has

00:27:26 --> 00:27:30

programmed it. You can't get nourishment from anywhere else. If

00:27:30 --> 00:27:31

you put the wrong

00:27:33 --> 00:27:38

detergent in a washing machine and mess up, you put the wrong oil in

00:27:38 --> 00:27:41

a machine that is not because there's different viscosity oils,

00:27:42 --> 00:27:46

you know, to grease different mechanical parts, you put the

00:27:46 --> 00:27:49

wrong one in on your bike chain, for example, or anywhere else,

00:27:49 --> 00:27:51

it's going to mess up.

00:27:52 --> 00:27:56

So the right kind of thought that goes with the human hearts is this

00:27:56 --> 00:27:59

is this contemplation. If you don't have it, there's no way to

00:27:59 --> 00:28:00

illuminate it.

00:28:02 --> 00:28:06

So he's saying now that if the heart then becomes occupied with

00:28:06 --> 00:28:11

this thought about the majesty of the true one for who Amana world,

00:28:11 --> 00:28:16

that heart is illuminated and lit up binaural Hawk with the light of

00:28:16 --> 00:28:17

the truth world.

00:28:18 --> 00:28:22

Whatever Hello. I mean, figuratively lucky if it doesn't

00:28:22 --> 00:28:25

have that light, because when you don't have light in a room, what

00:28:25 --> 00:28:25

happens?

00:28:26 --> 00:28:30

What's the inevitable consequence of not having any kind of light in

00:28:30 --> 00:28:35

a room? It's darkness. Absence of light is darkness is to not

00:28:35 --> 00:28:38

there's no two ways about it. You either have lights or you don't

00:28:38 --> 00:28:41

have lights. If you don't have light somewhere, there's going to

00:28:41 --> 00:28:44

be darkness. So that's what he's saying. He says that if it doesn't

00:28:44 --> 00:28:46

have that, then

00:28:47 --> 00:28:51

he's gonna have you see, the heart is always thinking. The mind is

00:28:51 --> 00:28:55

always active, the mind never shuts down. In fact, even when we

00:28:55 --> 00:29:00

sleep, the mind reassembles itself, it reorients itself,

00:29:00 --> 00:29:03

right? The synapses and everything, they reorient

00:29:03 --> 00:29:06

themselves. That's why sleep is important is always active, the

00:29:06 --> 00:29:10

mind is always active. So the mind is going to be active. If we don't

00:29:10 --> 00:29:12

give it the right thing to be active in it's going to be active

00:29:12 --> 00:29:16

in the wrong things. That's what he's saying. But if it doesn't

00:29:16 --> 00:29:19

have this focus on the truthful one, then it's going to be

00:29:19 --> 00:29:21

thinking about everything but Allah because that's what's

00:29:21 --> 00:29:22

available.

00:29:23 --> 00:29:27

That is darkness. That is what creates darkness. And you have to

00:29:27 --> 00:29:30

remember he says what a testimonial Dolma to a new

00:29:30 --> 00:29:35

evidence, net never can darkness and light come together is going

00:29:35 --> 00:29:38

to have to be one or the other. Right? There's always a tussle

00:29:38 --> 00:29:43

between them. That's why contemplating over the universe

00:29:43 --> 00:29:48

and everything that we see is the is the lamp of the heart. So when

00:29:48 --> 00:29:52

there is no contemplation regarding Allah subhanaw taala the

00:29:52 --> 00:29:56

light will extinguish itself because of the darkness of

00:29:56 --> 00:29:59

everything else that you will think about. So you'll have no

00:29:59 --> 00:29:59

light

00:30:00 --> 00:30:03

That's exactly what he's saying. You don't want a tele there is no

00:30:03 --> 00:30:07

light there is no giving light. Nothing that gives light Junaid Al

00:30:07 --> 00:30:10

Baghdadi Rahmatullah they used to say a shuffle majority see what

00:30:10 --> 00:30:15

Allah, one of the most noble gatherings and Atmos lofty as

00:30:15 --> 00:30:21

gatherings are? A Judo Suma Allah is to sit with Allah. How do you

00:30:21 --> 00:30:25

sit with Allah? Allah want to come and sit with you. Where do you go

00:30:25 --> 00:30:29

to sit with Allah? Fie Maya fee may Daniel fee karate Allah

00:30:29 --> 00:30:32

besotted Tauheed Allah be Celtic don't hate.

00:30:34 --> 00:30:41

The way you do that is to go into this realm of contemplation. But

00:30:41 --> 00:30:42

it has to be based on low heat.

00:30:44 --> 00:30:48

So with low heat, you start contemplating with low heat means

00:30:48 --> 00:30:52

with a focus on the Oneness of Allah only Allah can do whatever

00:30:52 --> 00:30:55

it is, and you start thinking about these things. That's what's

00:30:55 --> 00:30:58

gonna give light to the heart. Chicago has an usher video Radi

00:30:58 --> 00:31:01

Allahu Anhu says that

00:31:02 --> 00:31:07

if somebody achieves four things, if somebody has four things, he

00:31:07 --> 00:31:11

becomes of the Sydney at MOCA, Robin Siddiqui and other highest

00:31:11 --> 00:31:17

level of Alia. So you have Alia in general, lovers of Allah Siddiqui

00:31:17 --> 00:31:19

in other highest of them, there's no level above that except the

00:31:19 --> 00:31:22

level of prophecy but you can't gain that only Allah gives that to

00:31:22 --> 00:31:27

maybe wishes. But becoming a Siddiq is a possibility through

00:31:27 --> 00:31:30

one's own effort and action if Allah wills, right.

00:31:31 --> 00:31:36

Whoever just attained three of them, then that person is from the

00:31:36 --> 00:31:41

close. Olia, not Siddiqui, but still close enough. Whoever gets

00:31:41 --> 00:31:44

only two of them than they are from a Shuhada al minimoon.

00:31:46 --> 00:31:49

The believers who witness they have a certain amount of witness,

00:31:49 --> 00:31:53

they can give enough witness but they're not beyond that. And

00:31:53 --> 00:31:56

whoever has just one of them, at least just one of them. They Ebola

00:31:56 --> 00:32:00

Saudi, they're righteous servants of Allah. At least they've got

00:32:00 --> 00:32:03

that. What are these four? First is vicar.

00:32:04 --> 00:32:07

Remembrance of Allah actually remembering Allah.

00:32:09 --> 00:32:14

This has to be done based on along with good actions. The benefit of

00:32:14 --> 00:32:17

this is that it'll give you a light that shines that will shine

00:32:17 --> 00:32:19

things for you. Number two, is this El flicker?

00:32:21 --> 00:32:24

To then start contemplating? See a vicar is Subhan Allah Subhan,

00:32:24 --> 00:32:29

Allah Subhana Allah, that's the vicar contemplation is

00:32:30 --> 00:32:31

look at this wall.

00:32:32 --> 00:32:35

Look at this building. That's contemplation. That's not vicar.

00:32:36 --> 00:32:39

Contemplation can get you to vicar, though, right? Or the vicar

00:32:39 --> 00:32:43

you start with. So it just depends on where you are. So Flickr, he

00:32:43 --> 00:32:47

says, Flickr has to have somebody, you have to have a lot of patience

00:32:48 --> 00:32:51

and steadfastness for that. But the benefit of that is you will

00:32:51 --> 00:32:55

get the knowledge Samarra to wherein you will ultimately get

00:32:55 --> 00:32:58

the awareness and knowledge and that knowledge is very useful

00:32:58 --> 00:33:00

because it will lead you right in this world.

00:33:01 --> 00:33:05

The third thing is a fucker, not poverty in that sense of having

00:33:05 --> 00:33:09

nothing but a need for Allah. This feeling that even if you've got

00:33:09 --> 00:33:14

millions, everything at your disposal for you to feel you need

00:33:14 --> 00:33:15

Allah

00:33:16 --> 00:33:21

because we're helpless without Allah. All of this can wither and

00:33:21 --> 00:33:26

dissipate. So to think all the time I am in need of Allah. That's

00:33:26 --> 00:33:28

what fucker means here and need

00:33:29 --> 00:33:31

to feel that need of Allah subhanaw taala

00:33:33 --> 00:33:35

and that functions with sugar

00:33:37 --> 00:33:42

to thank Allah and everything that we have. And the benefit of them

00:33:43 --> 00:33:45

is that you'll just get more

00:33:46 --> 00:33:49

the more you feel needy of Allah, the more he is going to give you

00:33:50 --> 00:33:53

because you're going to do sugar, Lane Shackleton Mala as Eden,

00:33:54 --> 00:33:55

you're just gotta get more than that.

00:33:57 --> 00:34:02

Okay, what's the fourth one? So we have so far thicker, thicker, and

00:34:02 --> 00:34:06

number three was thicker, which means the needs so we need to

00:34:06 --> 00:34:09

remember Allah contemplate everything to get to him. And

00:34:09 --> 00:34:13

number three was we need to feel in need of Him and always in need

00:34:13 --> 00:34:18

and dependent dependents. The fourth one then, that has to lead

00:34:18 --> 00:34:19

to is love of Allah.

00:34:20 --> 00:34:24

And hope, love of Allah subhanaw taala the only way you can love of

00:34:24 --> 00:34:28

Allah is that you dislike

00:34:29 --> 00:34:32

everything that's other than him, which is everything in the dunya

00:34:32 --> 00:34:35

not disliked, like I hate you. I don't want anything to do with you

00:34:35 --> 00:34:39

go away. Not that kind of a dislike but you don't let it go to

00:34:39 --> 00:34:42

your hearts. We use it. Somebody hates the dunya so much I'm not

00:34:42 --> 00:34:45

going to I'm not going to eat is going to be committing suicide.

00:34:45 --> 00:34:48

That doesn't work. It's just that it shouldn't get into the heart.

00:34:49 --> 00:34:55

We use it but we don't obsess with it. May Allah protect us from

00:34:55 --> 00:34:55

obsession,

00:34:56 --> 00:34:59

except with him. So that's what it means that does

00:35:00 --> 00:35:03

only way you can gain the love of Allah is when you remove the love

00:35:03 --> 00:35:04

of everything else.

00:35:06 --> 00:35:10

And the benefit then what's the benefit of this one? The benefit

00:35:10 --> 00:35:16

of this one is that it will get you to the Veiled one which is

00:35:16 --> 00:35:20

Allah subhanaw taala what exactly that means, it doesn't mean you

00:35:21 --> 00:35:27

see Allah right in his form now because that that's beyond that's

00:35:27 --> 00:35:31

not something but you will start to again get a better

00:35:31 --> 00:35:33

understanding of Allah subhanho wa taala. So anybody who has ordered

00:35:33 --> 00:35:37

these for their mashallah at the top, people are still striving if

00:35:37 --> 00:35:40

they've got at least one of them some vicar. If you do something on

00:35:40 --> 00:35:41

your righteous seven, right?

00:35:43 --> 00:35:48

I will see that these are kind of the thicker, thicker, thicker, I

00:35:48 --> 00:35:50

don't think you can get fucker without the first two. I think

00:35:50 --> 00:35:55

these are kind of stage by stage, one after the other. Ultimately

00:35:55 --> 00:35:58

your you get to love of Allah subhanho wa taala. That's amazing.

00:35:58 --> 00:36:03

That's amazing Subhan Allah. So that's what he said, Right? In

00:36:03 --> 00:36:06

these two aphorisms, I'm just going to conclude by reading to

00:36:06 --> 00:36:12

us, the way Sheikh Abdullah gon go, he explains the first one, and

00:36:12 --> 00:36:15

then a second one. So in the first one where he said, meditation is

00:36:15 --> 00:36:18

the voyage of the heart, in the domain of all of these other

00:36:18 --> 00:36:22

creation, all of creation from the heavens to the earth has been

00:36:22 --> 00:36:26

portrayed or compared in this aphorism to the domain of

00:36:26 --> 00:36:30

alternatives, right? The reality of meditation, what exactly does

00:36:30 --> 00:36:35

meditation mean? Is the wandering of the heart in these domains.

00:36:36 --> 00:36:39

Wandering in these domains in this context means to meditate on the

00:36:39 --> 00:36:44

wonderful manifestation of Allah's power that reveals itself

00:36:45 --> 00:36:49

perpetually in all of his creation. So you notice the power

00:36:49 --> 00:36:51

of everything, power of a line, everything.

00:36:53 --> 00:36:58

For instance, some are born. Some people are born, while others die.

00:36:59 --> 00:36:59

Some are poor.

00:37:02 --> 00:37:03

Some are wealthy.

00:37:05 --> 00:37:08

We contemplate about the reasons for all of these things. There's a

00:37:08 --> 00:37:10

wisdom behind all of these things.

00:37:11 --> 00:37:12

We don't just take it for granted.

00:37:14 --> 00:37:18

There are innumerable marvels in Allah's creation inhabiting the

00:37:18 --> 00:37:22

heavens and the earth. Man is required to derive lessons from

00:37:22 --> 00:37:26

these marvelous objects of Creation and meditate on Allah's

00:37:26 --> 00:37:29

attributes of beauty, excellence, splendor.

00:37:32 --> 00:37:35

This meditation will lead to recognizing the Creator most high

00:37:35 --> 00:37:39

that what exactly how does he do things, this meditation will lead

00:37:39 --> 00:37:42

to that he will firmly believe that his creator is most wise,

00:37:42 --> 00:37:46

most Gracious, most majestic and most splendid, you will get the

00:37:46 --> 00:37:49

attributes of Allah subhanaw taala. This is the type of

00:37:49 --> 00:37:53

meditation that we are commanded, commanded to observe, we've been

00:37:53 --> 00:37:57

forbidden to meditate on the essence of the Creator. Because

00:37:57 --> 00:38:00

our limited minds cannot comprehend the infinite eternal

00:38:00 --> 00:38:05

being. In such meditation actually lurks the danger of renouncing the

00:38:05 --> 00:38:09

religion. And we seek Allah's protection. Belief in the Creator

00:38:09 --> 00:38:12

should be confined to the limits indicated to us, we're told to

00:38:12 --> 00:38:17

believe in a way that is told to us. Furthermore, one should

00:38:17 --> 00:38:20

meditate on obedience and sin, that are for a certain act of

00:38:20 --> 00:38:24

obedience, there is a particular reward, and for a sin, there is a

00:38:24 --> 00:38:26

certain degree of punishment that's also affected.

00:38:27 --> 00:38:31

He adds that extra point, then he says, we should also meditate on

00:38:31 --> 00:38:35

the bounties of Allah. His bounties are innumerable. He is

00:38:35 --> 00:38:38

the true benefactor. We should also meditate on the perishable

00:38:38 --> 00:38:41

nature of the world and its objects. These various types of

00:38:41 --> 00:38:44

meditation are praiseworthy, and we have been instructed to observe

00:38:44 --> 00:38:48

them. You bought some fruits or vegetables and you couldn't use

00:38:48 --> 00:38:52

them and they start withering away. You bought some milk, you

00:38:52 --> 00:38:56

didn't use it, it became that that's because it's shelf life is

00:38:56 --> 00:38:59

just shorter. Everybody has a shelf life in this world.

00:39:00 --> 00:39:04

So just the way that became bad in three or four days, we're gonna go

00:39:04 --> 00:39:07

in 6070 years or maybe less than that.

00:39:09 --> 00:39:11

Everything has a shelf life, everything is perishable in this

00:39:11 --> 00:39:12

world.

00:39:13 --> 00:39:16

And then we think, well, that's how Allah has made it. Why is he

00:39:16 --> 00:39:18

made it like that? Because that's the wellness the nature of this

00:39:18 --> 00:39:21

world paradise is going to be forever and Hellfires forever.

00:39:23 --> 00:39:27

For the second aphorism, which is meditation is the lamp of the

00:39:27 --> 00:39:31

heart. So when it goes away, the heart has no illumination. This

00:39:31 --> 00:39:36

aphorism means that bereft of meditation, the heart resembles a

00:39:36 --> 00:39:40

dark room, in which there is no light giving lamp, one does not

00:39:40 --> 00:39:44

know what lurks in that dark room as nothing is visible. Similarly,

00:39:44 --> 00:39:47

without meditation, the reality and the true nature of an object

00:39:47 --> 00:39:49

cannot be fathom, done, understood.

00:39:51 --> 00:39:54

Meaning how it's going to benefit you or is it good or bad in that

00:39:54 --> 00:39:57

sense, when man meditates the inner nature and Reality of Things

00:39:57 --> 00:40:00

will be revealed to him. He will see with his open

00:40:00 --> 00:40:03

Now as meaning is open spiritualize the realities of

00:40:03 --> 00:40:06

truth falsehood, perishable nature of the world, and everlasting

00:40:06 --> 00:40:10

nature of the hereafter. You're so obsessed about certain types of

00:40:10 --> 00:40:14

food you love eating, or cars or whatever you just saw obsessed by

00:40:14 --> 00:40:17

them, and they distract you is because of this problem.

00:40:19 --> 00:40:21

So focus on the wrong thing, right.

00:40:23 --> 00:40:27

The glory, the splendor, power and Wrath of Allah as well as his

00:40:27 --> 00:40:31

being the true benefactor will, through flicker become vivid

00:40:31 --> 00:40:35

realities. Man will also become aware of his own hidden defects,

00:40:35 --> 00:40:39

the schemes and deceptions of his ego and shaytaan and that the

00:40:39 --> 00:40:41

world is about of futility and deception.

00:40:43 --> 00:40:46

If the servant refrains from meditation, his heart will become

00:40:46 --> 00:40:49

like a dark room. He will then be unable to differentiate the

00:40:49 --> 00:40:52

various things outlined above in his heart.

00:40:53 --> 00:40:58

That's how he ended up Allah subhanaw taala give us a true

00:40:58 --> 00:41:04

ability to start this process of contemplation contemplating

00:41:04 --> 00:41:08

everything around us, so that we can get to their reality and

00:41:08 --> 00:41:12

ultimately get a better understanding of the attributes of

00:41:12 --> 00:41:16

Allah subhanaw taala so brothers Ramadan is a very good time for

00:41:16 --> 00:41:20

this I forgot this month because Ramadan is terminally destabilized

00:41:20 --> 00:41:23

Leslie you're feeling that hunger you're feeling helpless you're

00:41:23 --> 00:41:27

feeling vulnerable is the time to think about this and to channel in

00:41:27 --> 00:41:34

the right way. Last session we can we did the Imam Gonzales. And then

00:41:34 --> 00:41:37

the second part of it I did in another masjid, it's online now.

00:41:37 --> 00:41:40

There's one thing he says that I used to feel guilty when you feel

00:41:41 --> 00:41:44

hungry, thirsty and weak in your fast you feel kind of miserable.

00:41:44 --> 00:41:47

So before I used to feel like why do I feel like that should feel

00:41:47 --> 00:41:50

energetic? Just like normal and do everything?

00:41:52 --> 00:41:54

Right, you know what I'm saying? You feel a bit vulnerable, you

00:41:54 --> 00:41:57

feel a bit helpless, right? He says that's a good feeling.

00:41:57 --> 00:42:01

Because that should make you think Allah wants to create a new so

00:42:01 --> 00:42:05

that you get a bit destabilized so that you can reorient and think of

00:42:05 --> 00:42:07

it because when you're in a confident state, you don't think

00:42:07 --> 00:42:10

we just carry on. But when we're in that kind of helpless state, we

00:42:11 --> 00:42:13

try to do things. So
