Tariq Ramadan – Chronicles of Ramadan #21 Brotherhood and Friendship

Peace be with you.

We talked about,

our relationship

to

our

brothers and sisters within the family and in

which we we have to repair.

As we are entering the last 10 days

of Ramadan, we have to remember something which

is essential to achieve our

faith, to achieve our spiritual journey, which is

the relation relationship that we have with our

brothers and sisters, not only within the family,

but outside the family, within the, human family.

Because as we know,

it is said in the Quran,

oh,

people, we have created you from a male

and a female,

meaning that we have this,

original bound, this original link that we have

with our brothers and sisters in humanity

and,

we also have to care about our brothers

within

the community, the spiritual community, and this is

what we find in the Quran,

in the

in Islam.

And this is essential to achieve our faith

because what we have to provide our brothers

and even our friends within our society is

not only our heart and our generosity and

our solidarity to be with them and to

care about them. We

show compassion towards one another. This is what

Islam is asking us to do. Yes, that's

true, but but at the same time, what

is very important for us is to remember

that, we have to be demanding with our

brothers and sisters.

We have to show that we care about

them through the principles that we both

are respecting and trying to respect in our

daily life, and this is the very meaning

of being a brother and being a sister

in Islam.

It's

full of compassion, full of solidarity and

in order for us to go along and

to be able to improve ourselves

through our relationship,

and this is a way to repair. But,

because as we know,

affection repairs

our very,

feelings when we are,

troubled in our daily life,

but having a relationship with a friend or

with a brother or sister,

helping us to remember the principles and to

remember what is right and what is wrong.

It's also repairing. It's also

helping us reform ourselves,

and this is the very meaning of being

brothers and sisters in Islam and in humanity

is help me with your love.

Help me with the limits you are,

reminding me,

to respect in my daily life. This is

a way for us to understand our relationship

and to repair

our relations with our brothers and sisters,

and this is the way it should be.

Our spiritual journey should be based on love

and common respect

and, at the same time, show me that

you love me,

but remind me that I have to respect

the principles of life in order to deserve

your friendship or your brotherhood.

That's essential. That's the spiritual journey.

Don't forget to tell the people you love

that you love them. Life is fragile.
