AI: Summary ©
The title Islam is a combination of the title of Islam and the Bible, with the holy spirit and the holy spirit being important in building a heart. The speakers emphasize the importance of science, union, and the holy spirit in building a heart. The discussion also touches on the controversy surrounding the use of "has been" in Islam, with some believing it is a result of cultural bias, and the importance of learning the de cycles of Islam. The speakers stress the importance of being a good listener and avoiding praise in public, and provide resources for learning to be a good listener and establish the rights of God. The segment ends with a recommendation to visit a website for a summer program.

Muhammad. One more Salim.

00:01:02 --> 00:01:04

Hope everybody is doing well. I think that

00:01:04 --> 00:01:06

lens, yeah, may be causing some problems

00:01:07 --> 00:01:10

for the Instagram folks. So let me see

00:01:10 --> 00:01:12

if I can fix it. Hopefully, I can.

00:01:13 --> 00:01:15

But as always, it's a blessing to be

00:01:15 --> 00:01:17

with each and every one of you.

00:01:19 --> 00:01:20

Ask Allah

00:01:20 --> 00:01:23

to accept our efforts and welcome to our

00:01:24 --> 00:01:26

nightly session over the next few weeks.

00:01:27 --> 00:01:28

To our school Swiss

00:01:29 --> 00:01:30

Swiss summer night session. My

00:01:31 --> 00:01:33

apologies for being a little bit late. There

00:01:33 --> 00:01:34

were some technical issues, but

00:01:36 --> 00:01:38

Allah is so merciful and kind. We're able

00:01:38 --> 00:01:39

to

00:01:40 --> 00:01:41

to get it handled.

00:01:42 --> 00:01:45

So tonight we're going to start a text

00:01:45 --> 00:01:47

which is from the science of tasawaf, and

00:01:47 --> 00:01:49

we know sometimes we hear from people

00:01:50 --> 00:01:53

online and other places that tasoolof is something

00:01:53 --> 00:01:56

people should avoid, tasoolof is something that people

00:01:56 --> 00:01:58

should stay away from, that tasoolof is a

00:01:58 --> 00:01:58

bidah,

00:01:59 --> 00:02:01

and so on and so forth. So number

00:02:01 --> 00:02:03

1, the word from means something that has

00:02:03 --> 00:02:04

no precedent.

00:02:06 --> 00:02:10

That's why it says, like, I'm not the

00:02:10 --> 00:02:14

process of I am not the first

00:02:14 --> 00:02:17

messenger, meaning there have been messengers before him.

00:02:19 --> 00:02:21

So the idea of bada,

00:02:22 --> 00:02:23

bada,

00:02:23 --> 00:02:25

is something which is,

00:02:28 --> 00:02:30

which does not have a precedent.

00:02:31 --> 00:02:33

And that's why one of the names of

00:02:33 --> 00:02:35

Allah who Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is Al Badiyya.

00:02:37 --> 00:02:38

Badiyya Usamaawatiwalaw.

00:02:41 --> 00:02:43

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says the originator, Al

00:02:43 --> 00:02:43

Badir,

00:02:44 --> 00:02:45

is the originator.

00:02:46 --> 00:02:48

The one who brought something from nothing.

00:02:49 --> 00:02:51

The one who brought something from nothing. It

00:02:51 --> 00:02:52

had no precedent.

00:02:53 --> 00:02:56

Like, for example, Sayda Adam, Sayda Nai Isa,

00:02:56 --> 00:02:57

everything in creation,

00:02:58 --> 00:03:00

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is the only one

00:03:00 --> 00:03:01

who can bring it into creation.

00:03:01 --> 00:03:03

So he's Al Badia

00:03:03 --> 00:03:06

Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, the originator of the heavens

00:03:06 --> 00:03:08

and the earth. So the word bida'a is

00:03:08 --> 00:03:09

from this word bada'a,

00:03:10 --> 00:03:12

which means something which has no precedent, and

00:03:12 --> 00:03:13

that's very important.

00:03:15 --> 00:03:16

Because

00:03:17 --> 00:03:20

amongst Ahlus Sunnah, there are 2 opinions

00:03:21 --> 00:03:23

as to different types of bida that we'll

00:03:23 --> 00:03:25

talk about in the future.

00:03:27 --> 00:03:29

But in order to say that something is

00:03:30 --> 00:03:33

that implies that it has no precedent.

00:03:34 --> 00:03:36

Someone's asking, are these recorded? Yes. They're recorded,

00:03:36 --> 00:03:39

and then they're, posted Hamda on my YouTube

00:03:39 --> 00:03:41

page. Thank you, Hilla. May Allah bless you.

00:03:41 --> 00:03:42

Thank you for asking.

00:03:43 --> 00:03:44

So

00:03:45 --> 00:03:47

the word Al Bida, linguistically,

00:03:47 --> 00:03:49

means something that has no precedent.

00:03:54 --> 00:03:54

Sharai,

00:03:55 --> 00:03:59

the majority of Sunni say that Bida

00:03:59 --> 00:04:01

is something which has no precedent

00:04:02 --> 00:04:03

in the text,

00:04:04 --> 00:04:05

in the practice,

00:04:05 --> 00:04:07

or the foundations of Islam. You need the

00:04:07 --> 00:04:09

practice of the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallamah

00:04:10 --> 00:04:11

or his

00:04:12 --> 00:04:14

companions. However, we have to be very careful

00:04:14 --> 00:04:17

because at Tark laysa bihudja, we can maybe

00:04:17 --> 00:04:19

talk about this in the future. Just because

00:04:19 --> 00:04:21

the prophet did not do something doesn't make

00:04:21 --> 00:04:22

it bida immediately,

00:04:23 --> 00:04:25

but that's a broader discussion.

00:04:26 --> 00:04:28

So if you look at something like Tasawwuf,

00:04:29 --> 00:04:31

we have to ask ourselves within

00:04:32 --> 00:04:33

the Quran

00:04:33 --> 00:04:34

and within

00:04:34 --> 00:04:35

Hadith,

00:04:36 --> 00:04:38

within the practices of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi

00:04:38 --> 00:04:39

Wasallam?

00:04:41 --> 00:04:42

Is there a precedent

00:04:43 --> 00:04:45

for the science of Tawaf?

00:04:46 --> 00:04:47

Just like is there a precedent

00:04:48 --> 00:04:50

for the science of Tawhid?

00:04:50 --> 00:04:52

Just like there is a precedent

00:04:52 --> 00:04:53

for the Seera?

00:04:54 --> 00:04:55

Just like there is

00:04:56 --> 00:04:56

a precedent

00:04:57 --> 00:04:57

for

00:04:58 --> 00:05:00

rhetoric and language

00:05:00 --> 00:05:01

and Tajweed

00:05:02 --> 00:05:03

and Hadith.

00:05:03 --> 00:05:05

All of those sciences, if you went

00:05:06 --> 00:05:08

to the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam or you

00:05:08 --> 00:05:09

went to the Sahaba

00:05:09 --> 00:05:12

and you asked him about Tawhid Rubobiya, Tawhid

00:05:12 --> 00:05:15

Uruhia, Tawhid Asma'i Wasifat.

00:05:15 --> 00:05:17

If you asked him about Sifat, Ishreen,

00:05:18 --> 00:05:19

if you were Ashari,

00:05:20 --> 00:05:22

they would have no idea what you're talking

00:05:22 --> 00:05:24

about. If you went to the Sahaba and

00:05:24 --> 00:05:24

you said,

00:05:29 --> 00:05:31

They would have no idea what you're talking

00:05:31 --> 00:05:32

about. Those sciences

00:05:33 --> 00:05:33

evolved

00:05:34 --> 00:05:35

out of the foundations.

00:05:36 --> 00:05:38

As the world became more complicated, as the

00:05:38 --> 00:05:41

particulars of the world increased,

00:05:42 --> 00:05:45

the the need for pedagogy and the need

00:05:46 --> 00:05:48

to bring into a a form of a

00:05:48 --> 00:05:50

science to preserve orthodoxy

00:05:51 --> 00:05:54

became urgent. And that's why we divide historically

00:05:55 --> 00:05:58

the generations of early Muslims into the following

00:05:58 --> 00:05:59

categories.

00:06:00 --> 00:06:01

Number 1 is

00:06:05 --> 00:06:06

the generation

00:06:07 --> 00:06:07

that heard.

00:06:09 --> 00:06:11

Khalas, that's the Sahaba,

00:06:11 --> 00:06:12

they heard

00:06:12 --> 00:06:14

from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

00:06:15 --> 00:06:18

The 2nd generation is called Jiru Al Jammai,

00:06:18 --> 00:06:21

the generations that brought everything together, that begin

00:06:21 --> 00:06:23

to collect the opinions

00:06:24 --> 00:06:26

of Sayna Muhammad SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam. That begin

00:06:26 --> 00:06:29

to collect the Qira'at, that begin to collect

00:06:29 --> 00:06:30

the

00:06:31 --> 00:06:34

authentic Hadith and the language and so many

00:06:34 --> 00:06:34

other sciences.

00:06:35 --> 00:06:37

Right? They're called Jiro al Jamri from like

00:06:37 --> 00:06:38

Jumwa

00:06:38 --> 00:06:41

to come together. So Jiro Jamri, the generation

00:06:41 --> 00:06:42

that collected.

00:06:43 --> 00:06:45

The 3rd generation that comes after them is

00:06:45 --> 00:06:46

called Jil Atadween.

00:06:50 --> 00:06:53

And that 3rd generation is the generation of

00:06:53 --> 00:06:53

teachers

00:06:55 --> 00:06:56

who begin to teach these sciences,

00:06:57 --> 00:07:00

and create, you know, very strong systems of

00:07:00 --> 00:07:01

education.

00:07:02 --> 00:07:03

If we look at all of the different

00:07:03 --> 00:07:06

Islamic 33 Islamic Sciences or so,

00:07:06 --> 00:07:08

we see that one of them

00:07:08 --> 00:07:10

definitely at the

00:07:10 --> 00:07:13

existed in the earliest times under different names,

00:07:14 --> 00:07:16

as we'll talk about in a second. And

00:07:16 --> 00:07:18

number 2, it has an asl, it's not

00:07:18 --> 00:07:18

a bidah.

00:07:19 --> 00:07:22

The Quran encourages us to purify our hearts.

00:07:24 --> 00:07:27

Successful as the one who purifies his or

00:07:27 --> 00:07:28

her soul.

00:07:28 --> 00:07:31

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in the dua of

00:07:31 --> 00:07:32

Sayyidina Ibrahim, arihisratoslam

00:07:33 --> 00:07:35

and his son Sayyidina Ismail,

00:07:35 --> 00:07:36

arihimusalam

00:07:48 --> 00:07:49

They made that dua,

00:07:50 --> 00:07:53

our Lord dispatched to them a messenger

00:07:53 --> 00:07:56

who will recite your verses to them, Teach

00:07:56 --> 00:07:58

them knowledge and wisdom and purify them.

00:08:00 --> 00:08:03

The answer comes back though, few pages later,

00:08:05 --> 00:08:06

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,

00:08:25 --> 00:08:27

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

00:08:27 --> 00:08:28

says that

00:08:30 --> 00:08:30

indeed

00:08:31 --> 00:08:33

we have sent to you a messenger,

00:08:34 --> 00:08:35

from amongst yourselves,

00:08:36 --> 00:08:38

reciting our our book,

00:08:39 --> 00:08:41

and purifying you. So pay attention. The answer

00:08:42 --> 00:08:45

of Ibrahim's Dua, the order changes.

00:08:46 --> 00:08:49

Ibrahim said recite and Ismail recite,

00:08:50 --> 00:08:51

teach, purify.

00:08:51 --> 00:08:54

The dua is answered that Sayna Muhammad Sallallahu

00:08:54 --> 00:08:55

Alaihi Wasallam

00:08:56 --> 00:08:57

will be dispatched,

00:08:57 --> 00:08:59

he will recite, and the first thing he

00:08:59 --> 00:09:01

will work on is the purification.

00:09:05 --> 00:09:05

The purification.

00:09:07 --> 00:09:08

So we see that Subhan

00:09:18 --> 00:09:18

That

00:09:21 --> 00:09:23

That the way Allah answers Ibrahim by changing

00:09:23 --> 00:09:26

the order shows us that the importance

00:09:27 --> 00:09:30

that the prophet is sent with after Tawhid

00:09:31 --> 00:09:32

and after faith,

00:09:33 --> 00:09:34

is purification of the soul.

00:09:35 --> 00:09:36

And that's why Allah

00:09:41 --> 00:09:42

says, Everyone will

00:09:42 --> 00:09:43

fail

00:09:44 --> 00:09:45

except those who come to Allah with a

00:09:45 --> 00:09:46

heart which is

00:09:47 --> 00:09:49

full of tranquility and peace.

00:09:50 --> 00:09:52

And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala mentions the outcome

00:09:52 --> 00:09:53

of dhikr

00:09:53 --> 00:09:55

should be a heart that's with Allah.

00:09:58 --> 00:10:01

And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala mentions that prayer

00:10:01 --> 00:10:03

without the heart is not complete.

00:10:10 --> 00:10:13

Indeed, 6 the believers were successful, those who

00:10:13 --> 00:10:14

have Khushur

00:10:14 --> 00:10:15

in their salah,

00:10:16 --> 00:10:18

those who have reverence in their heart for

00:10:18 --> 00:10:19

Allah.

00:10:19 --> 00:10:21

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says about the Sahaba

00:10:21 --> 00:10:23

when the verses of the Quran

00:10:23 --> 00:10:25

were recited to them, wajaratkuluubuhum

00:10:27 --> 00:10:29

that their hearts were moved.

00:10:30 --> 00:10:32

And Allah who Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala when he

00:10:32 --> 00:10:33

prays saying, Ibrahim

00:10:34 --> 00:10:35

alayhi salatu salam

00:10:36 --> 00:10:37

in the Quran he says,

00:10:40 --> 00:10:42

Sareem. He came to Allah with a sound

00:10:42 --> 00:10:42

heart.

00:10:43 --> 00:10:45

So do we have an Asul

00:10:45 --> 00:10:46

from the text?

00:10:47 --> 00:10:49

I talked about Asul last night. It's just

00:10:49 --> 00:10:51

have al hal and the Asul

00:10:51 --> 00:10:52

of Hurma.

00:10:53 --> 00:10:56

Do we have a foundational text here that

00:10:56 --> 00:10:59

shows that purification of the heart

00:10:59 --> 00:11:02

is one of the crucial components of Islam?

00:11:03 --> 00:11:03

Absolutely.

00:11:07 --> 00:11:08

What I can tell Allah says the eyes

00:11:08 --> 00:11:11

are not blind, what's blind is the heart.

00:11:11 --> 00:11:12

Also Sayna Muhammad

00:11:13 --> 00:11:14

salallahu alaihi wa'alehi wasallam,

00:11:16 --> 00:11:19

he said in the sound hadith, which is

00:11:19 --> 00:11:21

actually a very beautiful hadith, you know.

00:11:22 --> 00:11:26

He said, Allah wa Inn Nafil Jasalim Mudruha

00:11:26 --> 00:11:27

Ida alsarahadsaraaljeslukullu

00:11:30 --> 00:11:32

That in the body there's a piece of

00:11:32 --> 00:11:34

flesh, if it sound the whole body sound.

00:11:34 --> 00:11:36

If it's corrupted the whole body's corrupted is

00:11:36 --> 00:11:37

the heart.

00:11:37 --> 00:11:40

And there are numerous authentic narrations

00:11:41 --> 00:11:43

of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallamah that teach

00:11:43 --> 00:11:44

us about sincerity,

00:11:45 --> 00:11:46

hoping in Allah,

00:11:46 --> 00:11:49

fearing Allah, reliance on Allah,

00:11:49 --> 00:11:50

turning to Allah.

00:11:53 --> 00:11:56

What do we define tasawwuf as?

00:11:58 --> 00:12:00

Sheikh Islam, Sheikh Ahmed Zarook,

00:12:01 --> 00:12:02

Rahim Muhallahu Ta'ala

00:12:03 --> 00:12:04

in his book Allah Al Tassawwuf.

00:12:05 --> 00:12:07

He said: Atasawaf is

00:12:08 --> 00:12:09

Husnu Tawajju

00:12:09 --> 00:12:10

illAllah.

00:12:15 --> 00:12:17

To turn to Allah in the best way.

00:12:19 --> 00:12:21

To turn to Allah in the best way,

00:12:21 --> 00:12:23

meaning on the way of Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi

00:12:23 --> 00:12:24

Wasallam.

00:12:25 --> 00:12:27

So that takes us to a quick question

00:12:27 --> 00:12:29

then why is there so much controversy

00:12:30 --> 00:12:30

around

00:12:31 --> 00:12:31

Tasawwuf?

00:12:32 --> 00:12:35

Why do you find sometimes especially our salafi

00:12:35 --> 00:12:38

leaning brothers and sisters, I would say being

00:12:38 --> 00:12:39

very irresponsible,

00:12:39 --> 00:12:43

just as Sufis are irresponsible categorizing Sadafis

00:12:43 --> 00:12:46

with this broad brunt, you know, broad brush.

00:12:47 --> 00:12:50

This broad brush. All Sufis are wrong, all

00:12:50 --> 00:12:52

Sufis are deviant, all Sufis and mizbida.

00:12:53 --> 00:12:54

The best answer

00:12:55 --> 00:12:56

for

00:12:56 --> 00:12:57

our Salafi,

00:12:57 --> 00:12:58

leaning

00:12:58 --> 00:12:59

Muslims

00:12:59 --> 00:13:01

and brothers and sisters

00:13:01 --> 00:13:02

is what

00:13:03 --> 00:13:05

Sheikh Islam Ibn Taymiyyah he said,

00:13:06 --> 00:13:07

Raheem O Allah Ta'ala.

00:13:08 --> 00:13:09

Sheikh ibn Taymiyyah

00:13:10 --> 00:13:13

in his in his small essay called resettle

00:13:13 --> 00:13:13

to fukhara

00:13:15 --> 00:13:16

resettle to fukhara.

00:13:18 --> 00:13:18

He

00:13:19 --> 00:13:19

describes

00:13:21 --> 00:13:22

this controversy,

00:13:23 --> 00:13:24

and he says,

00:13:34 --> 00:13:36

He says in Majmuah Fataawi,

00:13:37 --> 00:13:39

which is a book that has a lot

00:13:39 --> 00:13:41

of problems because the one who rendered it

00:13:41 --> 00:13:43

from the Mahtul Taat made grievous mistakes.

00:13:44 --> 00:13:45

But in Majma'afatawa,

00:13:47 --> 00:13:48

Shaykh Imeid Taymiyyah says,

00:13:53 --> 00:13:54

if I remember correctly.

00:13:54 --> 00:13:56

So he says the people of Tassa'uf are

00:13:56 --> 00:13:59

divided into 3 groups. Number 1, those people

00:13:59 --> 00:14:01

that were caught up in,

00:14:01 --> 00:14:04

you know, untethering themselves from the Sharia. They

00:14:04 --> 00:14:06

were just about feeling

00:14:06 --> 00:14:09

hal, you know, kind of like Western spirituality.

00:14:09 --> 00:14:12

It's a high. It's it's all this kind

00:14:12 --> 00:14:14

of stuff and they do things which go

00:14:14 --> 00:14:15

against the Sharia.

00:14:15 --> 00:14:17

Of course, these are people that no one

00:14:17 --> 00:14:19

agrees with, no one will say these are,

00:14:20 --> 00:14:21

orthodox Sufis.

00:14:21 --> 00:14:23

He says number 2 are the intellectual type

00:14:23 --> 00:14:26

Sufis who were overcome by Greek logic and

00:14:26 --> 00:14:30

Greek philosophy, and really enamored by Persian philosophy

00:14:30 --> 00:14:31

and Indian philosophy.

00:14:31 --> 00:14:34

And then they tried to insert this into

00:14:34 --> 00:14:35

the science of Ihsan

00:14:36 --> 00:14:37

to tzawaf,

00:14:37 --> 00:14:40

and he said also these people are wrong.

00:14:40 --> 00:14:42

But then listen to what he says. He

00:14:42 --> 00:14:42

says Fa'amma.

00:14:43 --> 00:14:45

He says as for those people

00:14:46 --> 00:14:47

who mastered

00:14:47 --> 00:14:49

Alhamdulillah the Sharia

00:14:50 --> 00:14:51

and mastered fiqh

00:14:52 --> 00:14:54

and mastered Aqidah from the Salaf

00:14:54 --> 00:14:55

and or Sufis.

00:14:56 --> 00:14:57

He says Raheem Muhullah,

00:14:58 --> 00:14:58

fahuom

00:14:58 --> 00:14:59

ahsanullahibad.

00:15:01 --> 00:15:03

What does he say? I'm quoting him.

00:15:03 --> 00:15:05

He said they are the best

00:15:06 --> 00:15:06

Muslims.

00:15:08 --> 00:15:11

They are the best Muslims for whom

00:15:17 --> 00:15:20

So this argument that you find is because

00:15:20 --> 00:15:23

there are certainly bad examples of people who

00:15:23 --> 00:15:24

align with tasawaf.

00:15:25 --> 00:15:27

We find sometimes spiritual abuse happening in these

00:15:27 --> 00:15:30

groups. We find people harming themselves and cutting

00:15:30 --> 00:15:32

themselves and doing things,

00:15:33 --> 00:15:34

so on and so forth.

00:15:35 --> 00:15:37

Of course, those are bad examples.

00:15:38 --> 00:15:40

But one of the people that Imam Ibn

00:15:40 --> 00:15:41

Tayyimiya mentions

00:15:42 --> 00:15:44

as being a good example to take

00:15:45 --> 00:15:46

to Surwa from

00:15:46 --> 00:15:48

is Abu Abdilahi

00:15:48 --> 00:15:50

Al Harith ibnu Asad

00:15:50 --> 00:15:51

al Muhasibi,

00:15:52 --> 00:15:55

Rahim Uhallahu ta'ala. And the Imam al Muhasibi,

00:15:55 --> 00:15:57

he died around 243

00:15:57 --> 00:15:58

after hijri.

00:16:00 --> 00:16:02

And the Imam Al Muhasabi, hamduh I have

00:16:02 --> 00:16:05

Ijazah in this text. If anyone's interested, they

00:16:05 --> 00:16:07

can contact me. I can give them the

00:16:07 --> 00:16:08

Ijazah InshaAllah when we finish.

00:16:09 --> 00:16:11

But he wrote a large number of books

00:16:11 --> 00:16:14

about the science of Ihsaan. So just as

00:16:14 --> 00:16:16

Tajweed is the science of the Quran, Ihsaan.

00:16:18 --> 00:16:20

When Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said,

00:16:23 --> 00:16:24

to worship Allah though you see him even

00:16:24 --> 00:16:26

though don't you you you don't see him,

00:16:26 --> 00:16:27

you know he sees you.

00:16:28 --> 00:16:30

This is the science of Ihsan.

00:16:32 --> 00:16:34

Someone's asking me what do you think about

00:16:34 --> 00:16:35

tariqa?

00:16:35 --> 00:16:38

Me, I would be very careful about joining

00:16:38 --> 00:16:38

a tariqa,

00:16:39 --> 00:16:41

especially if the tariqa

00:16:41 --> 00:16:42

puts the shaykh

00:16:43 --> 00:16:44

in a pedestal

00:16:45 --> 00:16:46

which is unhealthy.

00:16:48 --> 00:16:50

But the best way as I was taught

00:16:50 --> 00:16:53

to achieve purification of the heart is to

00:16:53 --> 00:16:54

learn the deen.

00:16:55 --> 00:16:57

To learn the Quran,

00:16:58 --> 00:16:58

and to learn,

00:16:59 --> 00:17:01

you know, just the basics

00:17:01 --> 00:17:03

and to learn worship.

00:17:03 --> 00:17:04

That's why SubhanAllah,

00:17:05 --> 00:17:08

someone came to Uthman ibn Affair radiAllahu anhu

00:17:09 --> 00:17:10

and they asked him, what is the best

00:17:10 --> 00:17:12

way to draw near to Allah?

00:17:13 --> 00:17:15

And he said, the best way to draw

00:17:15 --> 00:17:16

near to Allah

00:17:16 --> 00:17:18

is with his words.

00:17:19 --> 00:17:21

So sometimes we need to be careful. Do

00:17:21 --> 00:17:23

those those different tariqa have,

00:17:24 --> 00:17:27

like you know, systems of protection for the

00:17:27 --> 00:17:27

mureeds,

00:17:28 --> 00:17:31

is is the leader of the tariqa, someone

00:17:31 --> 00:17:32

who's above Nasihah,

00:17:32 --> 00:17:35

is the leader of the tariqa, somebody who's

00:17:35 --> 00:17:37

beyond any type of compliance he checks.

00:17:38 --> 00:17:39

Those

00:17:40 --> 00:17:42

are tariqa that you should be careful of.

00:17:42 --> 00:17:45

Does that tariqa have a history of abuse,

00:17:45 --> 00:17:46

spiritual, financial,

00:17:47 --> 00:17:49

any any of those kind because it's a

00:17:49 --> 00:17:50

lot of power to give a person.

00:17:51 --> 00:17:52

So I would say,

00:17:53 --> 00:17:54

investigate

00:17:55 --> 00:17:57

and proceed, you know, wisely, but then make

00:17:57 --> 00:17:58

learning

00:17:59 --> 00:18:00

the most important

00:18:00 --> 00:18:03

process because the aqidah and the shari'a come

00:18:03 --> 00:18:04

before tasawaf.

00:18:07 --> 00:18:08

So Imam Abu

00:18:11 --> 00:18:14

Abdullahi al Harith al Muhasibi, he dies around

00:18:14 --> 00:18:16

243 after hijri. So he's from the Salaf.

00:18:17 --> 00:18:18

And he wrote a really beautiful book that

00:18:18 --> 00:18:21

we're gonna start tonight and we'll read from

00:18:21 --> 00:18:25

a little bit every Thursday Insha'AllahHu Ta'ala. And

00:18:25 --> 00:18:27

in this text he

00:18:28 --> 00:18:30

helps us really support what we're doing on

00:18:30 --> 00:18:32

Tuesday nights, is to thinking about the rights

00:18:32 --> 00:18:33

of Allah.

00:18:34 --> 00:18:36

What are the rights that God has upon

00:18:36 --> 00:18:37

us?

00:18:37 --> 00:18:39

You know, one of the challenges of the

00:18:39 --> 00:18:40

modern state

00:18:40 --> 00:18:43

is that the modern state system has made

00:18:43 --> 00:18:44

the state

00:18:44 --> 00:18:47

what you think about in terms of rights

00:18:47 --> 00:18:48

that you give and get,

00:18:49 --> 00:18:51

and sort of taken us away from thinking

00:18:51 --> 00:18:52

about the rights of Allah,

00:18:53 --> 00:18:54

especially under a secular system.

00:18:56 --> 00:18:59

So he begins Rahim Oholaha Ta'ala, he says,

00:18:59 --> 00:19:00

Alhamdulillahi

00:19:02 --> 00:19:03

qabara kullimakaal

00:19:05 --> 00:19:07

All praise is due to Allah before every

00:19:07 --> 00:19:08

speech,

00:19:08 --> 00:19:09

SubhanAllah.

00:19:09 --> 00:19:11

You know, sometimes if you feel like you're

00:19:11 --> 00:19:13

not able to keep up your worship,

00:19:13 --> 00:19:14

or you're struggling

00:19:15 --> 00:19:17

and you're iman and you're Islam, or you

00:19:17 --> 00:19:20

feel guilty like you're not doing enough,

00:19:20 --> 00:19:21

just say Alhamdulillah.

00:19:23 --> 00:19:25

Wallahi, you know, you

00:19:25 --> 00:19:26

don't understand

00:19:26 --> 00:19:28

that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said

00:19:28 --> 00:19:29

the most beloved

00:19:30 --> 00:19:32

people to Allah are the people of Alhamd.

00:19:35 --> 00:19:36

You know, they just said Alhamdulillah.

00:19:37 --> 00:19:40

And the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, he said

00:19:40 --> 00:19:41

that saying Alhamdulillah

00:19:41 --> 00:19:43

will fill your scales for you.

00:19:44 --> 00:19:46

And you know, SubhanAllah, we had a Sheikh

00:19:46 --> 00:19:47

in Morocco

00:19:47 --> 00:19:48

in Fess,

00:19:49 --> 00:19:50

who was quadriplegic.

00:19:51 --> 00:19:52

He suffered

00:19:53 --> 00:19:53

a serious

00:19:55 --> 00:19:58

challenge to his health and he became quadriplegic,

00:19:58 --> 00:20:00

and he had to sit flat,

00:20:00 --> 00:20:01

you know,

00:20:02 --> 00:20:04

and he would just say, Alhamdulillah.

00:20:05 --> 00:20:05

Alhamdulillah.

00:20:07 --> 00:20:07

Alhamdulillah.

00:20:09 --> 00:20:11

And he said, Alhamdulillah,

00:20:11 --> 00:20:13

all praise be to God.

00:20:13 --> 00:20:16

All praise be to God. All praise be

00:20:16 --> 00:20:16

to God.

00:20:17 --> 00:20:18

So much

00:20:18 --> 00:20:21

that somebody said, man, why are you always

00:20:21 --> 00:20:21

saying Alhamdulillah?

00:20:23 --> 00:20:25

And he said, I say Alhamdulillah,

00:20:26 --> 00:20:29

all praise be to God because God guided

00:20:29 --> 00:20:31

me to say, all praise be to God.

00:20:32 --> 00:20:32

Like, Alhamdulillah,

00:20:33 --> 00:20:34

Alhamdulillah.

00:20:37 --> 00:20:39

Like I said Alhamdulillah because Allah guided me

00:20:39 --> 00:20:41

to say Alhamdulillah. And Imam Shafi'i

00:20:42 --> 00:20:44

BadiAllahu Anhu used to say Alhamdulillah,

00:20:45 --> 00:20:47

praise be to Allah who guided me to

00:20:47 --> 00:20:50

say praise be to Allah and because he

00:20:50 --> 00:20:52

guided me to say praise be to Allah,

00:20:53 --> 00:20:55

I have to say praise be to Allah

00:20:55 --> 00:20:56

SubhanAllah.

00:20:57 --> 00:20:59

So Imam al Muhasibi, he begins, Alhamdulillahi

00:21:00 --> 00:21:00

qabaraqulli

00:21:01 --> 00:21:01

Maqal

00:21:02 --> 00:21:04

before anything can be said, Alhamdulillah.

00:21:07 --> 00:21:08

Wa amamakulli

00:21:08 --> 00:21:09

aragbatin

00:21:09 --> 00:21:11

was so'aal, and in front of every hope

00:21:11 --> 00:21:12

and every

00:21:13 --> 00:21:13

request

00:21:14 --> 00:21:15

is Alhamdulillah.

00:21:15 --> 00:21:17

Everyone should be typing and saying Alhamdulillah.

00:21:18 --> 00:21:19

Alhamdulillah.

00:21:19 --> 00:21:21

How many chats you join

00:21:21 --> 00:21:24

attacking people, talking bad about people, slandering people?

00:21:25 --> 00:21:26

This chat is the chat of Alhamd

00:21:27 --> 00:21:28

or Salawat.

00:21:29 --> 00:21:29

This is

00:21:30 --> 00:21:32

the gathering of Alhamdulillah,

00:21:32 --> 00:21:33

remembering Allah,

00:21:34 --> 00:21:37

remembering Sayyidina Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, remembering our

00:21:37 --> 00:21:38

brothers and sisters,

00:21:39 --> 00:21:42

in Gaza who even though they're being bombed

00:21:42 --> 00:21:43

and they're under rubble,

00:21:43 --> 00:21:44

they said Alhamdulillah,

00:21:45 --> 00:21:45

Alhamdulillah,

00:21:45 --> 00:21:46

Allahu Akbar

00:21:52 --> 00:21:53

That he says, Rahimuhullah,

00:21:54 --> 00:21:56

all praise is due to Allah before every

00:21:56 --> 00:21:58

speech and in front of every desire and

00:21:58 --> 00:21:58

question,

00:22:00 --> 00:22:01

in front of every hope.

00:22:03 --> 00:22:05

And I'm asking brothers in the in the

00:22:05 --> 00:22:05

comments,

00:22:06 --> 00:22:08

This is the same thing every time talking

00:22:08 --> 00:22:10

about even out of e talking about this.

00:22:10 --> 00:22:12

Just listen to the lesson, man.

00:22:12 --> 00:22:14

You're not here to teach. If you're here

00:22:14 --> 00:22:16

to teach, that's a bad intention. You should

00:22:16 --> 00:22:17

be here to study.

00:22:18 --> 00:22:20

It's a very poor quality of a person

00:22:20 --> 00:22:23

that you're in the comments arguing about people

00:22:23 --> 00:22:26

who died 700 years ago that you never

00:22:26 --> 00:22:26

met.

00:22:27 --> 00:22:28

And you need to be careful what you

00:22:28 --> 00:22:30

say about them, whether it's right or wrong.

00:22:31 --> 00:22:33

But the best thing when it comes to

00:22:33 --> 00:22:33

the dead,

00:22:34 --> 00:22:35

we say about the dead,

00:22:38 --> 00:22:40

You know, Allah will deal with them. Rahim

00:22:40 --> 00:22:41

mumullah,

00:22:41 --> 00:22:43

Allah will deal with him.

00:22:43 --> 00:22:46

But focus on the lesson not on even

00:22:46 --> 00:22:49

Tamia, even Arbi Ghazari,

00:22:49 --> 00:22:51

This is all a trick

00:22:51 --> 00:22:53

to take you away from what is really

00:22:53 --> 00:22:54

important.

00:22:54 --> 00:22:56

It's like somebody that has a really nice

00:22:56 --> 00:22:58

meal in front of them,

00:22:58 --> 00:23:01

and they're worried about like the glass. What

00:23:01 --> 00:23:02

kind of glass is the water in?

00:23:04 --> 00:23:05

So Alhamdulillah,

00:23:06 --> 00:23:08

I'm gonna ask, and I'm the teacher here.

00:23:08 --> 00:23:09

I don't need you to be arguing with

00:23:09 --> 00:23:10

people in the comments.

00:23:11 --> 00:23:14

Nobody's talking to you. Do your own life,

00:23:14 --> 00:23:16

discuss these issues. But if you come here,

00:23:16 --> 00:23:18

you come here to learn. You come here

00:23:18 --> 00:23:20

to praise Allah. You come here to send

00:23:20 --> 00:23:23

salawat upon the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallamah. You

00:23:23 --> 00:23:25

come to help somebody, and you come to

00:23:25 --> 00:23:27

amplify what's going on in the Muslim world.

00:23:27 --> 00:23:29

That's it. And if I see it, I'm

00:23:29 --> 00:23:30

just gonna have to ask people to leave,

00:23:30 --> 00:23:33

man. Because this is the same thing. I've

00:23:33 --> 00:23:35

been Muslim for 32 years. This even to

00:23:35 --> 00:23:39

me, Ghazari, even Arabi, ain't got nobody nowhere.

00:23:40 --> 00:23:42

It's a waste of time, man. And that's

00:23:42 --> 00:23:44

why intelligence agencies use it.

00:23:46 --> 00:23:46

So

00:23:47 --> 00:23:48

focus on the lesson,

00:23:48 --> 00:23:49

man. Be a good student.

00:23:50 --> 00:23:52

And in fact, the sign that someone's off

00:23:52 --> 00:23:54

in the comments arguing, it's a sign that

00:23:54 --> 00:23:56

they're not really serious about learning. And maybe

00:23:56 --> 00:23:57

it's not the person you wanna take your

00:23:57 --> 00:24:00

knowledge from because they don't have the add

00:24:00 --> 00:24:01

them to conduct themselves

00:24:01 --> 00:24:03

properly in a class.

00:24:04 --> 00:24:05

So he says all praise is due to

00:24:05 --> 00:24:08

Allah for every before every speech,

00:24:09 --> 00:24:12

and in front of every desire and question.

00:24:13 --> 00:24:15

For every significant matter

00:24:15 --> 00:24:17

that does not begin with praise be to

00:24:17 --> 00:24:19

Allah and his remembrance

00:24:20 --> 00:24:21

is severed,

00:24:22 --> 00:24:23

amputated from Barakah.

00:24:24 --> 00:24:26

SubhanAllah. So now we can think like one

00:24:26 --> 00:24:27

thing we learned today,

00:24:27 --> 00:24:30

tomorrow we're gonna go out somewhere, maybe we

00:24:30 --> 00:24:32

go with our friends, We go to Jumuah.

00:24:32 --> 00:24:34

We go to school. We go to work.

00:24:34 --> 00:24:35

Say Alhamdulillah.

00:24:36 --> 00:24:38

Because when you say Alhamdulillah,

00:24:41 --> 00:24:43

you're you're putting baraka

00:24:45 --> 00:24:46

in your life.

00:24:49 --> 00:24:51

Remember me? I remember you. Like can you

00:24:51 --> 00:24:52

imagine

00:24:52 --> 00:24:54

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is saying your name.

00:24:56 --> 00:24:57

Like you may be having the worst day

00:24:57 --> 00:24:58

of your life.

00:24:59 --> 00:25:01

You may feel like it's the worst day

00:25:01 --> 00:25:02

of your life,

00:25:03 --> 00:25:06

but somehow you found the strength to say

00:25:06 --> 00:25:06

Alhamdulillah,

00:25:07 --> 00:25:09

and then Allah mentioned you.

00:25:09 --> 00:25:11

How could it be the worst day of

00:25:11 --> 00:25:12

your life?

00:25:12 --> 00:25:14

And the hadith of the prophet sallallahu alaihi

00:25:14 --> 00:25:17

wa sallamah that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says

00:25:17 --> 00:25:20

that when my servant remembers me alone, I

00:25:20 --> 00:25:22

remember them alone. When they remember me in

00:25:22 --> 00:25:23

a gathering,

00:25:23 --> 00:25:25

I remember them in a gathering better than

00:25:25 --> 00:25:26

theirs.

00:25:26 --> 00:25:27

SubhanAllah.

00:25:28 --> 00:25:29

SubhanAllah.

00:25:31 --> 00:25:33

And the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,

00:25:43 --> 00:25:46

that every important issue that does not begin

00:25:46 --> 00:25:47

with Alhamdulillah

00:25:47 --> 00:25:48

is devoid

00:25:49 --> 00:25:49

of blessing.

00:25:53 --> 00:25:55

He says, so anytime someone begins something well

00:25:55 --> 00:25:56

saying Alhamdulillah,

00:25:57 --> 00:25:59

it is cut off

00:25:59 --> 00:26:00

from blessing,

00:26:01 --> 00:26:02

lacks continuity

00:26:03 --> 00:26:05

as is being narrated by Sayna Muhammad

00:26:06 --> 00:26:07

Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

00:26:26 --> 00:26:26

SubhanAllah.

00:26:27 --> 00:26:29

He says, so all praise is due to

00:26:29 --> 00:26:29

Allah,

00:26:30 --> 00:26:30

the first

00:26:31 --> 00:26:32

and the eternal.

00:26:36 --> 00:26:37

The one that has no beginning and no

00:26:37 --> 00:26:39

end. If the dunya breaks your heart,

00:26:40 --> 00:26:43

one person asked me how to overcome heartache.

00:26:43 --> 00:26:45

First of all, it's normal. It's not bad

00:26:45 --> 00:26:48

to feel pain that if you lost out

00:26:48 --> 00:26:49

on something that you left,

00:26:50 --> 00:26:50

that's normal.

00:26:52 --> 00:26:54

But the person asks, how do you overcome

00:26:54 --> 00:26:54

that?

00:26:55 --> 00:26:58

1 of the easiest ways to overcome a

00:26:58 --> 00:26:59

heartache attached to the dunya

00:27:00 --> 00:27:01

is to attach

00:27:02 --> 00:27:03

your heart to akhira.

00:27:05 --> 00:27:07

Because if the heart is attached to akhira,

00:27:07 --> 00:27:09

it will make it a little bit easier.

00:27:11 --> 00:27:12

It will make it a little bit easier.

00:27:12 --> 00:27:14

That's why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

00:27:14 --> 00:27:16

said to Sayna Muhammad sallallahu alaihi

00:27:17 --> 00:27:17

wa sallam.

00:27:19 --> 00:27:20

What a soul for you.

00:27:23 --> 00:27:24

In the akhira,

00:27:25 --> 00:27:26

you'll be happy.

00:27:26 --> 00:27:29

In the akhira, you'll be content.

00:27:30 --> 00:27:32

SallAllahu Alaihi wa Salaam.

00:27:32 --> 00:27:34

So tie yourself to the akhira.

00:27:35 --> 00:27:37

One of the easiest ways to do that

00:27:37 --> 00:27:38

is remember that Allah is

00:27:46 --> 00:27:47

The first and the last, he has no

00:27:47 --> 00:27:49

beginning, no ending. Imam ibn Abi Zaid

00:27:50 --> 00:27:51

in his ri Sala he says

00:27:55 --> 00:27:57

Even Abi Zaid he says in his Risada

00:27:57 --> 00:27:58

which we had to learn

00:28:02 --> 00:28:03

His firstness has no beginning.

00:28:07 --> 00:28:07

Allah

00:28:08 --> 00:28:10

and his ending has no end.

00:28:11 --> 00:28:14

Like why would a Muslim allow anything from

00:28:14 --> 00:28:16

the dunya to occupy their heart?

00:28:17 --> 00:28:18

It is unworthy.

00:28:18 --> 00:28:19

It's unworthy

00:28:20 --> 00:28:22

of the heart that says La ilaha illallah.

00:28:23 --> 00:28:24

The stars and celebrities

00:28:25 --> 00:28:26

that you know,

00:28:30 --> 00:28:32

I don't know how to translate the Ani,

00:28:32 --> 00:28:32

You

00:28:34 --> 00:28:36

know these waves of fittin

00:28:36 --> 00:28:39

coming to the hearts of young Muslims, this

00:28:39 --> 00:28:39

celebrity,

00:28:40 --> 00:28:41

this purse, these shoes,

00:28:42 --> 00:28:43

this, foundation.

00:28:44 --> 00:28:46

Even we find some people using Islam for

00:28:46 --> 00:28:46

dunya,

00:28:47 --> 00:28:49

SubhanAllah using Islam for dunya and you see

00:28:49 --> 00:28:51

it in their conduct, how they interact with

00:28:51 --> 00:28:53

women, how they interact with with men, how

00:28:53 --> 00:28:55

they interact with other people.

00:28:56 --> 00:28:58

That's indicative of a heart. It's attached to

00:28:58 --> 00:29:00

dunya. But when someone knows

00:29:01 --> 00:29:02

Allah hula

00:29:02 --> 00:29:04

ilaha illahu al hayyum

00:29:16 --> 00:29:17

Whoever whoever

00:29:18 --> 00:29:20

knows that their heart is not going to

00:29:20 --> 00:29:22

be attached to anything but Allah.

00:29:22 --> 00:29:23

And so

00:29:24 --> 00:29:26

the trip to dunya is easier.

00:29:26 --> 00:29:27

So he says,

00:29:28 --> 00:29:30

al Awal Al Qadeem,

00:29:30 --> 00:29:31

al Adi lam Yazal,

00:29:32 --> 00:29:35

the first and the last who has always

00:29:35 --> 00:29:35

been

00:29:42 --> 00:29:44

And and and nothing has

00:29:45 --> 00:29:47

the right of this description except

00:29:49 --> 00:29:50

The and who can

00:29:51 --> 00:29:52

because Allah was,

00:29:53 --> 00:29:53

is

00:29:54 --> 00:29:55

and will be

00:29:56 --> 00:29:56

Allah

00:30:02 --> 00:30:02

was

00:30:13 --> 00:30:14

And then he began

00:30:14 --> 00:30:16

the creation of everything

00:30:16 --> 00:30:18

without any cause,

00:30:19 --> 00:30:21

and he brought everything into existence

00:30:22 --> 00:30:23

without any causation.

00:30:24 --> 00:30:27

That's why a Sheikh Ahmed ad Dardir, he

00:30:27 --> 00:30:27

says,

00:30:41 --> 00:30:43

He says Whoever says that, you know, the

00:30:43 --> 00:30:44

creation

00:30:45 --> 00:30:48

is because of a cause or mother nature

00:30:49 --> 00:30:50

caused itself

00:30:51 --> 00:30:54

evolution, for example, fathaq kufrunayndaahalilmilah.

00:30:55 --> 00:30:56

It's a disbelief.

00:30:57 --> 00:30:59

Then we say, if Tada akhalqal ashaa

00:31:00 --> 00:31:01

lamin shei.

00:31:03 --> 00:31:06

He created everything not from something or for

00:31:06 --> 00:31:07

any reason.

00:31:10 --> 00:31:11

And then he says,

00:31:13 --> 00:31:14

and those things were with him before there

00:31:14 --> 00:31:16

was nothing with him. Fakhtaraal

00:31:16 --> 00:31:17

Asha.

00:31:17 --> 00:31:19

So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala originated

00:31:20 --> 00:31:22

everything. Everything you see around you came from

00:31:22 --> 00:31:22

kun fayakun.

00:31:24 --> 00:31:24

And

00:31:28 --> 00:31:30

And he brought it into existence

00:31:30 --> 00:31:33

and decreed how it will function

00:31:34 --> 00:31:35

as he willed.

00:31:37 --> 00:31:39

So there's no partners with him in his

00:31:39 --> 00:31:40

sovereignty.

00:31:44 --> 00:31:45

Allah

00:31:45 --> 00:31:46

and everything

00:31:46 --> 00:31:49

except Allah is his slave and owned by

00:31:49 --> 00:31:50

Allah.

00:31:50 --> 00:31:51

That includes us.

00:31:53 --> 00:31:55

So when you disobey Allah with your eyes,

00:31:56 --> 00:31:58

you don't own your eye. When I disobey

00:31:58 --> 00:32:00

Allah with my heart, I don't own my

00:32:00 --> 00:32:01

heart. In

00:32:05 --> 00:32:05

Allah

00:32:09 --> 00:32:11

Allah says in the Quran, he purchased the

00:32:11 --> 00:32:12

lives

00:32:13 --> 00:32:15

and the wealth of the believers

00:32:16 --> 00:32:17

for Jannah.

00:32:19 --> 00:32:21

So imagine using what someone gave you in

00:32:21 --> 00:32:22

a way they didn't

00:32:24 --> 00:32:26

permit you to use it. Like if you

00:32:26 --> 00:32:28

rent a home from somebody, you don't destroy

00:32:28 --> 00:32:29

their house.

00:32:30 --> 00:32:33

If you rent a property from somebody, you

00:32:33 --> 00:32:35

don't corrupt their property. You're very careful.

00:32:36 --> 00:32:37

Your body

00:32:38 --> 00:32:39

is a rental.

00:32:41 --> 00:32:43

Your eyes are a rental.

00:32:44 --> 00:32:46

Your handsomeness, your beauty,

00:32:46 --> 00:32:48

whatever you have,

00:32:51 --> 00:32:53

You're renting it.

00:32:53 --> 00:32:55

And what's the price

00:32:55 --> 00:32:57

if you rent it correctly?

00:32:58 --> 00:32:58

A bada.

00:33:00 --> 00:33:00

Wapa'a

00:33:01 --> 00:33:02

is worship and obedience.

00:33:09 --> 00:33:10

Allah

00:33:11 --> 00:33:12

created us

00:33:12 --> 00:33:14

as a generous blessing from himself.

00:33:25 --> 00:33:25

Allah.

00:33:26 --> 00:33:29

And that Allah aided us and helped us

00:33:29 --> 00:33:31

in ways that we could never

00:33:31 --> 00:33:32

calculate.

00:33:33 --> 00:33:34

Just imagine

00:33:34 --> 00:33:36

how long you can hold your breath.

00:33:37 --> 00:33:38

How much would you pay

00:33:39 --> 00:33:42

if, like, you couldn't breathe just for that

00:33:42 --> 00:33:42

one breath?

00:33:43 --> 00:33:46

Imagine if your eyes couldn't blink for, like,

00:33:46 --> 00:33:47

4 minutes,

00:33:47 --> 00:33:49

they would begin to dry out and eventually

00:33:49 --> 00:33:51

they would turn to powder and fall out

00:33:51 --> 00:33:52

of your head.

00:33:52 --> 00:33:55

Do you make the lotion that is, you

00:33:55 --> 00:33:57

know, lubricating your eyes?

00:33:59 --> 00:34:00

The toxins on your tongue

00:34:01 --> 00:34:03

that your body is filtering out for you.

00:34:03 --> 00:34:05

Do you have any control over those things?

00:34:07 --> 00:34:09

So we have to ask people, especially in

00:34:09 --> 00:34:11

today's world, why they're so unhappy

00:34:12 --> 00:34:15

because they're worshiping the wrong thing. And usually

00:34:15 --> 00:34:16

what they're worshiping is themselves.

00:34:20 --> 00:34:22

There's no God except me.

00:34:23 --> 00:34:24

But Islam says,

00:34:26 --> 00:34:27

Muhammad

00:34:29 --> 00:34:29

So

00:34:30 --> 00:34:30

he says

00:34:39 --> 00:34:41

And for that reason Allah, we say, Alhamdulillah.

00:34:56 --> 00:34:57

He said Allah

00:34:59 --> 00:35:01

has this right because the honor of his

00:35:01 --> 00:35:03

existence and the transcendence

00:35:03 --> 00:35:04

of his being,

00:35:06 --> 00:35:08

he's the only one you say Alhamdulillah

00:35:09 --> 00:35:09

Alhamdulutu.

00:35:16 --> 00:35:18

Then he says, so therefore we seek guidance

00:35:18 --> 00:35:20

from Allah and we seek the help of

00:35:20 --> 00:35:21

Allah

00:35:21 --> 00:35:22

and we trust in Allah

00:35:23 --> 00:35:23

Wosallahuwala

00:35:23 --> 00:35:24

Muhammadinabi'ihiwaraa

00:35:26 --> 00:35:27

arihi wasallam.

00:35:27 --> 00:35:29

And he says, and we send peace and

00:35:29 --> 00:35:31

blessings upon the prophet Muhammad Sallallahuwala

00:35:31 --> 00:35:32

wasallam,

00:35:32 --> 00:35:33

his family

00:35:34 --> 00:35:36

and his blessed companions. Next week we'll talk

00:35:36 --> 00:35:37

about Ashura

00:35:38 --> 00:35:41

and the martyrdom of Sayna Imam Al Hussain

00:35:45 --> 00:35:47

The prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said authentic

00:35:48 --> 00:35:51

hadith which Ahlul Sunnah Why now we have

00:35:51 --> 00:35:52

a Hadith al Isna al Shaikhi.

00:35:54 --> 00:35:57

The Hadith of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam

00:35:57 --> 00:35:59

where he says, man ahabbahussein

00:35:59 --> 00:36:01

and faqad ahabbahu Allah.

00:36:01 --> 00:36:04

It's hadith al saheem related by Imam Tabrani.

00:36:05 --> 00:36:06

At the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasalam said, whoever

00:36:06 --> 00:36:07

loved Hussain,

00:36:08 --> 00:36:09

Allah loved them.

00:36:13 --> 00:36:15

Then the shayi begins his text and this

00:36:15 --> 00:36:17

is the last part we'll read and then

00:36:17 --> 00:36:18

we'll stop. He says,

00:36:20 --> 00:36:21

And after I've understood

00:36:22 --> 00:36:24

all that you ask about, he's answering the

00:36:24 --> 00:36:26

questions people ask him about the rights of

00:36:26 --> 00:36:27

God.

00:36:28 --> 00:36:30

In an age where there's an election and

00:36:30 --> 00:36:32

there's so much going on, everybody's thinking about

00:36:32 --> 00:36:34

everybody's rights except the Haqq of Allah upon

00:36:34 --> 00:36:36

us. What is the Haqq of Allah on

00:36:36 --> 00:36:37

me?

00:36:37 --> 00:36:39

That's the first Haqq.

00:36:41 --> 00:36:42

So he says,

00:36:46 --> 00:36:47

he said, you know,

00:36:48 --> 00:36:50

I I I I,

00:36:52 --> 00:36:54

I have understood what you've asked me.

00:37:01 --> 00:37:03

And he said, therefore, before answering your questions,

00:37:03 --> 00:37:06

I wish to advise you. Before I get

00:37:06 --> 00:37:08

into the answer about the rights of God,

00:37:09 --> 00:37:11

there's something very important that I need to

00:37:11 --> 00:37:12

start with first, and this is the way

00:37:12 --> 00:37:13

of the ulama.

00:37:13 --> 00:37:16

That the ulama, if they know that there

00:37:16 --> 00:37:18

are steps needed to get to a hole,

00:37:18 --> 00:37:20

they start with the steps before you get

00:37:20 --> 00:37:21

to the hole.

00:37:22 --> 00:37:23

Because they understand without the steps,

00:37:24 --> 00:37:26

it won't happen. The whole is contingent on

00:37:26 --> 00:37:28

those particulars. So this is what im Al

00:37:28 --> 00:37:30

Imam al Muhasibi does. He says, before I

00:37:30 --> 00:37:32

start to talk about the rights of

00:37:32 --> 00:37:35

God, let me talk to you about something

00:37:35 --> 00:37:36

which is crucial

00:37:37 --> 00:37:38

in that process.

00:37:40 --> 00:37:42

And that is what

00:37:46 --> 00:37:48

being a good

00:37:48 --> 00:37:49

listener,

00:37:52 --> 00:37:53

to listen correctly.

00:38:05 --> 00:38:06

To be a good listener

00:38:07 --> 00:38:09

so that you may comprehend

00:38:09 --> 00:38:10

Allah's

00:38:10 --> 00:38:11

call

00:38:11 --> 00:38:14

what Allah is calling you to.

00:38:14 --> 00:38:16

Because if I don't listen well,

00:38:17 --> 00:38:19

then how can I respond?

00:38:20 --> 00:38:23

That's why when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

00:38:23 --> 00:38:25

described the Sahaba,

00:38:25 --> 00:38:26

he doesn't say,

00:38:31 --> 00:38:33

Those who listen to the best of speech,

00:38:33 --> 00:38:34

the Quran says,

00:38:35 --> 00:38:35

alatheena

00:38:42 --> 00:38:44

You have nomadic. He's a great writer in

00:38:44 --> 00:38:45

Lamia Tal Afari.

00:38:46 --> 00:38:47

It's a poem we memorized

00:38:48 --> 00:38:49

about conjugations.

00:38:50 --> 00:38:50

He says,

00:38:59 --> 00:39:00

And if you understand

00:39:01 --> 00:39:03

the the morphology of words, the doors of

00:39:03 --> 00:39:05

the language will open to you. Why does

00:39:05 --> 00:39:07

Allah describe the Sahaba? It doesn't say,

00:39:08 --> 00:39:09

He says,

00:39:12 --> 00:39:12

to feed

00:39:15 --> 00:39:15

Why?

00:39:17 --> 00:39:19

I'm Azharia. Of course, my pronunciation has big.

00:39:19 --> 00:39:21

We had to learn the 7 qiraat, man,

00:39:27 --> 00:39:28

But he says, That

00:39:31 --> 00:39:33

the Sahaba don't just listen,

00:39:34 --> 00:39:35

means haphazardly.

00:39:36 --> 00:39:37

Yastami'oon

00:39:37 --> 00:39:38

means when they heard the Quran,

00:39:39 --> 00:39:40

they're like this.

00:39:42 --> 00:39:44

They're like this. That's why Anas ibn Malik

00:39:44 --> 00:39:46

radiAllahu anhu said, the Sahaba they're like

00:39:47 --> 00:39:48

like the the birds

00:39:49 --> 00:39:50

sitting on the scarecrow.

00:39:51 --> 00:39:54

Like they were so quiet that birds could

00:39:54 --> 00:39:55

sit on them.

00:39:55 --> 00:39:57

So that's why I said earlier, arguing in

00:39:57 --> 00:39:59

the comments about this Sheikh, that Sheikh, this

00:39:59 --> 00:40:00

group,

00:40:05 --> 00:40:06

You're not

00:40:06 --> 00:40:08

listening. And the assumption is I don't need

00:40:08 --> 00:40:10

to listen. You know what? I just need

00:40:10 --> 00:40:10

to argue.

00:40:11 --> 00:40:13

That's why Imam Ibn Hazm said, if you

00:40:13 --> 00:40:14

go to a class and you start to

00:40:14 --> 00:40:17

argue and talk while people are teaching,

00:40:17 --> 00:40:18

this is a sign that you're not a

00:40:18 --> 00:40:20

good student because you don't think you need

00:40:20 --> 00:40:21

to learn. You don't need to listen.

00:40:25 --> 00:40:27

So he says, the first thing,

00:40:34 --> 00:40:36

Before, before I get into the discussion that

00:40:36 --> 00:40:38

you asked me, there's something that I need

00:40:38 --> 00:40:41

to direct your attention to, and it's more

00:40:41 --> 00:40:41

important

00:40:42 --> 00:40:44

to attain what I'm going to talk about.

00:40:44 --> 00:40:45

It is contingent,

00:40:46 --> 00:40:47

and that is Husl alistema,

00:40:48 --> 00:40:49

to be a good listener.

00:40:51 --> 00:40:53

May Allah make your anxiety easy, Omar,

00:40:54 --> 00:40:56

and help you with panic attacks. We pray

00:40:56 --> 00:40:56

for you.

00:40:57 --> 00:40:58

Anyone who needs dua requests,

00:40:58 --> 00:41:00

feel free. That's important.

00:41:05 --> 00:41:07

So that you can understand what God is

00:41:08 --> 00:41:09

calling you to,

00:41:09 --> 00:41:11

you have to be a good listener.

00:41:11 --> 00:41:12

So he says,

00:41:14 --> 00:41:16

so present good listening

00:41:17 --> 00:41:19

in front of everything I'm about to tell

00:41:19 --> 00:41:20

you

00:41:21 --> 00:41:24

so that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will benefit

00:41:24 --> 00:41:25

you.

00:41:35 --> 00:41:37

If you put good listening in front of

00:41:37 --> 00:41:39

everything I'm about to say perhaps Allah will

00:41:39 --> 00:41:41

benefit you in your attempt

00:41:42 --> 00:41:44

to shepherd and look after the rights of

00:41:44 --> 00:41:45

Allah.

00:41:49 --> 00:41:50

And to establish

00:41:50 --> 00:41:52

those rights in your life.

00:42:14 --> 00:42:16

He said, for Allah the exalted has informed

00:42:16 --> 00:42:18

us in the Quran that whoever listens as

00:42:18 --> 00:42:20

Allah loves and is pleased with,

00:42:21 --> 00:42:22

there will be a thikr

00:42:23 --> 00:42:24

that will transform

00:42:25 --> 00:42:26

that person.

00:42:26 --> 00:42:29

There will be an experience with what they're

00:42:29 --> 00:42:30

listening because they're listening to light

00:42:31 --> 00:42:33

and light can only remove darkness.

00:42:33 --> 00:42:35

So now if I'm focused on the light,

00:42:35 --> 00:42:36

which is the Quran,

00:42:36 --> 00:42:38

because the Quran is Nur

00:42:39 --> 00:42:41

and I'm listening correctly, then this will be

00:42:41 --> 00:42:42

dhikra,

00:42:42 --> 00:42:45

not just Dhikr. And if you speak Arabic,

00:42:57 --> 00:42:58

It's very different.

00:42:59 --> 00:43:01

It says that whoever does that is gonna

00:43:01 --> 00:43:03

be a transformative

00:43:03 --> 00:43:05

remembrance of the Quran.

00:43:05 --> 00:43:07

It's not just information, it's transformation.

00:43:09 --> 00:43:11

Meaning he will take heed,

00:43:11 --> 00:43:13

and she will take heed,

00:43:13 --> 00:43:15

and they will change their lives, and they

00:43:15 --> 00:43:16

will be transformed

00:43:17 --> 00:43:19

because they listen correctly.

00:43:20 --> 00:43:22

When Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala names something for

00:43:22 --> 00:43:23

one of his creations,

00:43:25 --> 00:43:27

it as is, it as

00:43:27 --> 00:43:29

though he named it

00:43:30 --> 00:43:32

in a way that he when Allah

00:43:32 --> 00:43:34

takes your attention to something like this form

00:43:34 --> 00:43:35

of listening,

00:43:35 --> 00:43:38

it's meant to make you pause and think

00:43:39 --> 00:43:40

and investigate it.

00:43:41 --> 00:43:43

And that's why in the Quran, as we

00:43:43 --> 00:43:43

finish,

00:43:48 --> 00:43:49

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says in the 50th

00:43:49 --> 00:43:51

chapter, this is the verse you should study

00:43:51 --> 00:43:53

for the week. You should memorize this verse.

00:43:53 --> 00:43:55

Whoever memorizes this verse and contacts me, I

00:43:55 --> 00:43:58

will give you a free scholarship, lifetime scholarship

00:43:58 --> 00:43:59

to my school

00:44:00 --> 00:44:02

For the rest of your life Bideela.

00:44:04 --> 00:44:06

That's verse 37 from Surqaaf.

00:44:07 --> 00:44:08

That's the verse you don't have to memorize

00:44:08 --> 00:44:10

in Arabic. If you don't speak Arabic you

00:44:10 --> 00:44:12

can memorize it in any language it's easy

00:44:12 --> 00:44:12

for you.

00:44:13 --> 00:44:14

Don't worry about that.

00:44:14 --> 00:44:16

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says about

00:44:17 --> 00:44:19

the adeb of a good listener.

00:44:22 --> 00:44:24

Indeed, this is a grand reminder.

00:44:28 --> 00:44:30

And it starts check it out. For the

00:44:30 --> 00:44:32

one who has a heart, we say like

00:44:32 --> 00:44:34

the one who gives their heart. Their heart

00:44:34 --> 00:44:35

is in the listening.

00:44:36 --> 00:44:38

Their heart is present in the dhikr.

00:44:39 --> 00:44:40

That's why Allah says,

00:44:42 --> 00:44:45

The Quran has sent for the living. Ibn

00:44:45 --> 00:44:46

Uaym said,

00:44:47 --> 00:44:49

the one whose heart is alive.

00:44:56 --> 00:44:57

So

00:44:58 --> 00:45:00

That indeed this is a grand reminder for

00:45:00 --> 00:45:01

the one that has a heart. We know

00:45:01 --> 00:45:04

the word heart is Maqruba, may Allah Subhanahu

00:45:04 --> 00:45:04

Wa Ta'ala

00:45:05 --> 00:45:07

bless the people of Maqlooba, Palestine.

00:45:08 --> 00:45:10

How ironic the people of Maqlooba

00:45:11 --> 00:45:11

are doing

00:45:12 --> 00:45:13

you know,

00:45:15 --> 00:45:16

They're the ones turning the whole earth upside

00:45:16 --> 00:45:17

down. Alhamdulillah.

00:45:18 --> 00:45:19

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala give them

00:45:20 --> 00:45:21

freedom and justice

00:45:21 --> 00:45:23

and protect them and destroy their enemies.

00:45:25 --> 00:45:26

So he says, In Nafidariqaladikra.

00:45:28 --> 00:45:29

So

00:45:30 --> 00:45:31

the heart is always changing.

00:45:31 --> 00:45:33

That's why it's called kalb, like Maqlooba,

00:45:34 --> 00:45:37

Allahumma maqalibul kalub. So when someone's listening and

00:45:37 --> 00:45:38

focused,

00:45:38 --> 00:45:40

they kept that heart stable,

00:45:41 --> 00:45:43

It's not going like this. Taqalb

00:45:44 --> 00:45:45

became fiwaqar.

00:45:46 --> 00:45:48

So the first when I'm listening, my heart

00:45:48 --> 00:45:49

is there.

00:45:56 --> 00:45:59

Here's or it's like they threw their hearing.

00:46:00 --> 00:46:01

They threw their hearing,

00:46:03 --> 00:46:04

They like boom.

00:46:05 --> 00:46:08

So not only listening with their heart, but

00:46:08 --> 00:46:09

their ears are listening.

00:46:21 --> 00:46:22

So the person,

00:46:22 --> 00:46:23

they,

00:46:25 --> 00:46:26

are listening with their heart,

00:46:27 --> 00:46:28

listening with their ears,

00:46:28 --> 00:46:29

and they're present

00:46:30 --> 00:46:31

completely with their body.

00:46:33 --> 00:46:35

That's why Imam al Muhasbih says about this

00:46:35 --> 00:46:36

verse,

00:46:52 --> 00:46:53

heart, their body.

00:46:57 --> 00:46:57

They're

00:46:58 --> 00:46:59

witnessing with the heart.

00:47:03 --> 00:47:06

Their hearts not talking about anything else.

00:47:07 --> 00:47:10

And that person's not they're present but they're

00:47:10 --> 00:47:12

fully present. They're not present and not present.

00:47:13 --> 00:47:14

Years ago in the Azhar as I finish,

00:47:15 --> 00:47:17

it's a funny story, and Usur did Usur

00:47:17 --> 00:47:19

al Faqih had a great teacher, Sheikh Salah

00:47:19 --> 00:47:20

Sraj Zaidan Allahirhamu.

00:47:24 --> 00:47:25

And in that class is a very hard

00:47:25 --> 00:47:27

class. Usul al Fakk is the hardest class

00:47:27 --> 00:47:28

I ever took in my life.

00:47:29 --> 00:47:31

And there was an Indonesian brother, he always

00:47:31 --> 00:47:32

used to sit in the front, mashallah.

00:47:33 --> 00:47:35

And one day the professor in the Azhar

00:47:35 --> 00:47:37

asked him a question. This is in 2006.

00:47:38 --> 00:47:40

And the Indonesian brother, he's he gave like

00:47:40 --> 00:47:41

a answer.

00:47:41 --> 00:47:44

It was off. Right? Masalams to a Masjid

00:47:44 --> 00:47:46

Nur in Wichita, man. Much love. Much love.

00:47:46 --> 00:47:48

And Sheikh Abdulrahman. Right? Alayd Hammu.

00:47:50 --> 00:47:51

And that brother,

00:47:52 --> 00:47:55

when the professor asked him the question,

00:47:55 --> 00:47:57

the brother couldn't answer.

00:47:57 --> 00:47:59

And then doctor Zaidani said to him,

00:48:00 --> 00:48:02

what's your name? He said his name. Where

00:48:02 --> 00:48:04

are you from? I'm from Indonesia. He said,

00:48:04 --> 00:48:05

which city Jakarta?

00:48:05 --> 00:48:08

Then Sheikh, Doctor Zaidani said something beautiful. He

00:48:08 --> 00:48:09

said,

00:48:14 --> 00:48:16

Is your body here or in Jakarta? He

00:48:16 --> 00:48:17

said,

00:48:17 --> 00:48:19

my body is in Cairo.

00:48:20 --> 00:48:20

And

00:48:21 --> 00:48:22

then, she said,

00:48:29 --> 00:48:31

Is your mind and heart in Cairo or

00:48:31 --> 00:48:32

in Jakarta? And he said,

00:48:33 --> 00:48:35

I'm sorry. My mind and heart is in

00:48:35 --> 00:48:35

Indonesia.

00:48:36 --> 00:48:37

It was, like, funny. It was a nice

00:48:37 --> 00:48:38

way to teach him a lesson. But the

00:48:38 --> 00:48:40

point is we could be we could be

00:48:40 --> 00:48:41

present

00:48:42 --> 00:48:43

and not hear things.

00:48:43 --> 00:48:45

We could be present and our mind could

00:48:45 --> 00:48:46

be somewhere else.

00:48:47 --> 00:48:50

So we'll stop here next week Insha'Allah we'll

00:48:50 --> 00:48:52

continue, but that's your assignment to try to

00:48:52 --> 00:48:54

learn this verse, chapter 50 verse 37.

00:48:55 --> 00:48:58

Achieving remembering through listening is what we'll talk

00:48:58 --> 00:48:59

about next week. How do we how do

00:48:59 --> 00:49:01

we gain from listening? Like, what what is

00:49:01 --> 00:49:03

the steps to being a good listener so

00:49:03 --> 00:49:05

we can gain from the Quran? We can

00:49:05 --> 00:49:07

gain from Dhikr. We can gain from listening

00:49:07 --> 00:49:08

to the world around us.

00:49:09 --> 00:49:11

InshaAllah, we ask Allah SubhanaHu Wa Ta'la, Bil'aafiya

00:49:11 --> 00:49:12

wtafir.

00:49:12 --> 00:49:14

Ask Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala, you said, Subhana

00:49:14 --> 00:49:15

Wa Ta'ala.

00:49:16 --> 00:49:18

And you know what I'm gonna be doing,
