I think I reached the age where I

have some interesting stories, but this one is

nuts and you need to hear it because

if you don't know the potential of your

enemy, then you can't think strategically. Years ago,

I was at this event, there was religious

leadership across the spectrum, right?

And there was this one guy, his phone

kept blowing up so I got concerned. Hey.

Is everything okay? He was sitting next to

me. Is everything okay at home? Emergency.

And he said, yeah. My donors threatened to

pull my funds because there are people here

that don't align with my donors' vision and

ideas. And I said, well, so, Hanulah, you're

kind of on the center left. Wouldn't your

donor want them to be here so you

could, like, have good conversation and maybe have

some influence? And he said, the problem is

my donor not only funds me, a center

left, but he funds the extreme right in

my community. And I said, wait a minute,

one donor funding 2 opposites. Like in our

community, we have trouble raising money just for

one one cause. Here's one donor funding 2

opposite causes. So I said to him, why

does he do that? You know what he

said to me? Strategy.
