00:01:07--> 00:01:10

commentary of Surah Timon Afghan today

00:01:15--> 00:01:16

sort of Cremona

00:01:20--> 00:01:24

occurs towards the end of the Quran is one of the shorter sorts.

00:01:25--> 00:01:28

It's one of the later sorts to be revealed

00:01:31--> 00:01:33

in a Madina, Munawwara

00:01:34--> 00:01:38

and therefore, it's an entirely Madani surah.

00:01:41--> 00:01:47

And in terms of its placement in the Quran, it's

00:01:48--> 00:01:51

the 63rd Surah of the Quran.

00:01:52--> 00:01:55

But the revelation, what came much later,

00:01:58--> 00:02:04

in the latter part, or the middle part of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa Salam is life in Medina to one hour.

00:02:06--> 00:02:09

pseudomonads Goon is a very famous Surah

00:02:11--> 00:02:23

one of the main reasons for its fame is that he Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam would regularly recite Surah Cremona for all

00:02:24--> 00:02:28

in the second Rooker of Jamal Salah.

00:02:29--> 00:02:34

So, we learn from various Hadith such as

00:02:36--> 00:02:55

those in the serie of Imam Muslim Rahmatullah Healy, the son of Imam widowed and others, including Salman of Timothy, that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam would recite Surah to Jamar in the first raka

00:02:57--> 00:03:29

of the Friday prayer, and then sold them on our own in the second rocker of the GEMA Salah and both the Soros are consecutive so sort of Juma immediately precedes sort of drum on afghan. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would read one in the first raka followed by sort of the one in the second recur. So and the same authors also relate that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would recite

00:03:31--> 00:03:50

Surah to Urla in the first Soraka of Jamaat Salah and sutra, Russia, in the second raka of joumana salah. And the meaning of both sets of hadith is that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would alternate.

00:03:52--> 00:04:29

It does not necessarily mean that these were the only force words that he would recite in Jamaat Isola. But predominantly, these are the sorts because these are categorically and clearly mentioned, by the Sahaba, or the Allah in the Hadith, and not only that, but the Sahaba or the Allah who actually made their practice. So my Muslim Rahmatullah, he relates in his story, that once the governor of Medina, left and Madina, Munawwara, one of the OMA year governors, this was long after the time of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa salam.

00:04:30--> 00:04:30

And

00:04:32--> 00:04:37

in his absence, since in the early days, the

00:04:38--> 00:04:45

army of the believers was also the Emile and the Imam of Salah. So the Imam of the believers,

00:04:46--> 00:04:53

the political Imam was also the religious imam in terms of leading prayer, especially Jim Reed.

00:04:54--> 00:04:59

So the governors in the capitol it would be the holy

00:05:00--> 00:05:15

For her would leave and in the provinces and in the other cities, the appointed governors who were the political Imams of the region, they would also be the Imam of Salon.

00:05:17--> 00:05:55

So some of them even though they weren't so how about are the Allahu Anhu they will actually lead salah and the Sahaba of the Allah one right salaam behind them. So the OMYA governor of Al Madina, Munawwara departed for a short while somewhere, and in his absence, he appointed a boo Hooray Huraira hora de Allah one to lead the prayers. So what are your huddled the Allahu Imam Muslim, Rohit Allah He relates that Abu Huraira hora de Allah who performed Juma our Salah and in the first sadaqa he recited sorted through Jamara and in the second Rooker, he resigned to sort of the monarchy.

00:05:56--> 00:05:59

So someone approached him

00:06:00--> 00:06:08

who had come from Kufa not recently I he had he spent much time in gufa

00:06:10--> 00:06:17

when i Little the Allah one was the Khalifa there and Kufa was actually the capital of Islam.

00:06:18--> 00:06:21

Because after Northland I'm not a fan with the Allah horn

00:06:23--> 00:07:00

had been martyred and when illegal the Allah one event eventually assumed the reins of Khilafah. He transferred the capital from the city of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe salam to Kufa so Kufa was a major political, economic, and most importantly, a major scholarly and religious center. Many of us have out of the hola one we're based in Kufa. So this individual had spent time there in Kufa during the days of early Italy Allah horn when he was a Khalifa.

00:07:02--> 00:07:06

So he approached abou Herrera who the hola horn and he said to him that

00:07:07--> 00:07:14

indeed, you prayed Jamara sorted through Joomla in the first Rucker and sorted them on Afghan in the second Raka.

00:07:16--> 00:07:20

And this is what led to the Allah Who and used to do in gopher

00:07:23--> 00:08:14

so Abu Huraira hora de Allah explained that this was a this was because we heard I heard the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam recite these two swords in solitary Jamar. So this actually was the Sunnah of the Sahaba of the Allah one two. And as a leader, the Allahu regularly read surah Jamara in the first and sort of from one afternoon. In the second letter, we actually learned from one narration that the Sahaba of the Allahu explained part of the reason for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam reciting these two secrets and the narration states that Rasul allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would recite Surah to Juma in the first raka in order to encourage and advise the

00:08:14--> 00:08:25

believers towards the good deeds and the good message contained in sorted through Jamar and then in the second recur Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi, wa salam

00:08:26--> 00:08:39

would recite Surah throne, Arthur goon in order to confound and rebuke and berate the hypocrites men present in the congregation. So it was a direct rebuke.

00:08:40--> 00:08:59

So the first rocker was meant for the believers. And then the second rocker was meant for them on Earth on the hypocrites who would be present. And this tells us a lot about the hypocrites during the time of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam, that the hypocrites

00:09:01--> 00:09:02

were very punctual

00:09:03--> 00:09:09

in their Salah in their congregation, in their attendance in their presence.

00:09:10--> 00:09:23

And in many ways, they were extremely careful. This is my relief at the woman, the man or the alarm, who was the keeper of the secrets of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa salam, and out of all of the Sahaba of the Allahu

00:09:28--> 00:09:35

it was only her they for Tubman, Yemen or the Allah and that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam confided in

00:09:38--> 00:09:48

and told him not confided in general but confided in with the names of the hypocrites, and again, not all

00:09:50--> 00:09:52

because this was such a large group.

00:09:54--> 00:09:59

And an interesting question here is, did the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam know the

00:10:00--> 00:10:03

Identity of all of the hypocrites

00:10:07--> 00:10:10

the Quran clarifies that

00:10:11--> 00:10:19

woman hola communal Alharbi Manasa Amin, Lily Medina Madhu Allah NIFA LA, Na Na

00:10:22--> 00:10:23

that have

00:10:24--> 00:10:25

around you.

00:10:27--> 00:10:44

From amongst the Bedouin around you I around the city of Medina, there are on earth have gone the hypocrites, women, Al Medina and also from the people of Medina, the city, Merle Duvall in the FARC. They have persisted

00:10:45--> 00:10:51

in their hypocrisy, lotta animal. And then here the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa Salam

00:10:52--> 00:11:02

is being individually addressed because the address is singular, not collective law, Tara lemahieu You are messenger of ALLAH, do not know them. But we know.

00:11:04--> 00:11:35

So did the prophets Allah Allah it was sent them know the identities of all of the hypocrites. Well, the Quran clearly states that you know them you do not know them but we know them. And this is my towards the even towards the end of his life. Or soon allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did identify a number of hypocrites. In one narration, it's mentioned that in the Jamar Isola. This was after husband the book, or round about that time

00:11:36--> 00:11:45

after the campaign of the book yet it wasn't after husband, the book after the campaign of the book in the ninth year of hijra, that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam wants.

00:11:48--> 00:12:06

In Joomla, he actually said to individuals, you rise and leave for you are I'm gonna fail. This isn't in one of the more famous narrations of Hadith but it's mentioned in one narration, you rise for you are a hypocrite you rise for you are a hypocrite.

00:12:07--> 00:13:01

But even on that occasion, the narrations mentioned that he only named 36 individuals he only named for to six. And surely the group of hypocrites was much much larger than this. Furthermore, when he confided in with a photographer, your man will the Allah horn, he only gave him a list according some narrations of approximately 15 individuals who own African, not all of them. So it seems as though the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam didn't disclose to him all the names of the hypocrites so he himself knew, but only some of them. But they've done only a man will be Allah Aang was the only one amongst all the Sahaba who had the names of some of the one African and hypocrites. So he

00:13:01--> 00:13:06

was the reference amongst the Sahaba of the Allahu Arnhem and the authority on the FARC.

00:13:07--> 00:13:19

To the extent that a lot of them have ba but only Allah Allah used to say to him, that tell me or her they refer is mine name in the list of the hypocrites.

00:13:20--> 00:13:31

So are they follow the Allah who would say no, but then he would also add, that I will not purify or declare anyone pure of hypocrisy after you.

00:13:32--> 00:13:41

So he would say that you are not in the list, but after you and beyond you, I will not declare anyone pure of hypocrisy.

00:13:44--> 00:13:49

So are they vitally Allah on was the authority on the FARC and again on whatever the Allah Harun

00:13:51--> 00:14:07

because they follow the Allah and wouldn't disclose the names of some of the hypocrites to anyone. What this How about are the Allahu Anhu including Are they for huddle the Allah including Tabata the Allahu and would do is that Subhana Allah, if there was a Janessa

00:14:08--> 00:14:28

they would observe the actions of a bullhorn or other with a photographer Yeah man, especially a murderer the Allah so oh my god Allah man used to wait to see if her they for huddled the Allah and performed Salado janazah over the individual if they follow the Allah Horan wasn't present or murder the Allah and wouldn't pray over him.

00:14:29--> 00:14:59

He would take or they thought of the Allah one as an authority. So I digress. But the reason I mentioned where they've added the Allah Han is this authority on hypocrisy and NIFA. Amongst the Sahaba of the Allah one, he used to address the people of his day and age and say to them, You are worse than the hypocrites of the time of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, for they would conceal their hypocrisy whereas you

00:15:00--> 00:15:01

you openly declare it.

00:15:03--> 00:15:46

So even during the time of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam, the munaf your own would be present in Salah in the congregation's. And this is why, according to one of the narrations, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi, wa salam would recite Surah to Juma in the first quarter God for the sake of the believers, so that they could be exalted and encouraged to good deeds and the beautiful message contained therein. But the second rocker was meant for the hypocrites actually present in the masjid, in Salah in the congregation, and this was a regular occurrence. This is one of the main reasons why sort of them on iPhone is so famous. It's the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu it was

00:15:46--> 00:16:00

sending them the sun now the Sahaba or the Allah on him, and the Sunnah of the ruler Ummah and the Imams of Islam and the aura to actually regularly recite these two solids in salata, Jamara

00:16:01--> 00:16:04

and time permitting many orlimar still

00:16:06--> 00:16:08

hold steadfast to this sunnah.

00:16:13--> 00:16:31

So this is one of the what the main reason for the fame of the surah. So inshallah today we'll begin the commentary of sort of Damona gone just to recap, it's a 63rd Surah of the Holy Quran in order follows immediately after sort of the Jamara and

00:16:35--> 00:17:04

in terms of Revelation, it came towards the middle of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam his life in Al Madina, Munawwara the theme of the surah is hypocrisy. And, in fact, it's, although other assaults are normally known by many different names, sort of than when afghan is now just as suited than when afghan. And this is what this whole battle the Leviathan called it to this is what's written and documented in all of the

00:17:05--> 00:17:33

copies of the Holy Quran from the very beginning. So, undoubtedly the name of the surah and when alpha is taken from the very first few words, either Gerken will now fit on a bottle in the shadow in Nicola rasool Allah, when the hypocrites come to you, they say, and we will read the surah shortly, but the name of the surah has been taken from the very beginning words of the surah.

00:17:36--> 00:17:47

Now, the main theme of the surah is NIFA, and hippo, hypocrisy and Omona. For all the hypocrites. And even though the

00:17:49--> 00:17:54

well as a summary, the beginning verses deal with the hypocrites as a group.

00:17:56--> 00:18:17

And then the middle part of the surah deals with the hypocrites in general. And although Allah subhanho wa Taala uses the collective term, the topic of the middle part of the surah is mainly related to one individual, Abdullah Hypnobabies said all the

00:18:19--> 00:18:20

lead of the hypocrites.

00:18:22--> 00:18:24

He wasn't the official leader

00:18:25--> 00:18:35

because they weren't an official group. So he wasn't the official leader, but he was undoubtedly the most powerful, the most influential,

00:18:37--> 00:18:39

and the

00:18:40--> 00:19:00

most strategic individual amongst the one article. And, indeed, he was regarded as a leader even before the arrival of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihe Salam, he was the uncrowned king of Al Madina, Munawwara so the middle part of the surah deals with him,

00:19:01--> 00:19:08

predominantly, although he is not referred to by name, nor is he referred to in the individual

00:19:09--> 00:19:19

pronoun, rather the pronoun is collective. In fact, the Holy Quran is unique in that sense, it's very different to other books, the entire Quran

00:19:21--> 00:19:30

hardly names individuals from the time of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. It's remarkable names are mentioned from the prophets of before.

00:19:31--> 00:19:35

But from the time of Rasulullah sallallahu, alayhi wasallam.

00:19:38--> 00:19:42

Only three people are named the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam.

00:19:43--> 00:19:48

And even he is named only five times in the Quran four times Muhammad once.

00:19:53--> 00:19:59

The prophets are named more than him in the Quran. So apart from himself from his contemporaries, only two

00:20:00--> 00:20:10

People are mentioned by name. One Muslim one non Muslim and both members of his family. One Abdullah, his uncle, the batida Vela

00:20:11--> 00:20:22

and the second for the map Belaz. Edelman how Turanza were Janaka his one time adopted son Zaidan, the hardest hurdle the alohar Apart from Zaidan Haritha,

00:20:24--> 00:20:45

the only one from the believers named in the Quran, apart from Abu Lahab, the only one of the non Muslims named in the Quran and both family members of the soul allah sallallahu alayhi wa salam from the time of Rasul Allah Alayhi Salatu was Salam, no other individual is mentioned by name. So here as well, even though Abdullah Hypnobabies saloon,

00:20:46--> 00:20:50

was a very prominent and powerful and central figure

00:20:51--> 00:20:55

in the opposition sort of Saul, allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,

00:20:56--> 00:21:25

he is not referred to by name, and nor even by the individual pronoun, but rather the collective pronoun referring to the hypocrites in general. But obviously him in particular, that's the middle part of the soul of this first part of the surah deals with the one Africa and collectively the middle part, individually, or predominantly with Abdullah Hypnobabies, settle. And then the final part of the surah is not about the hypocrites, rather, it's

00:21:27--> 00:22:12

an excitation and a reminder and an advice to the believers not to be distracted from the remembrance of Allah, by their wealth, and their children, and an excitation to them to spend in the way of Allah before death comes upon them. Now, that may seem as though it's got nothing to do with hypocrisy and the hypocrites, but there is a subtle connection, the final part of the surah is not disjointed. In fact, there is a very subtle and delicate connection and the connection is that the love of the world, being distracted by wealth and children, and by the other distractions of the dunya.

00:22:13--> 00:22:26

And being diverted by such things from the remembrance of Allah and from the earth, and being stingy and miserly, and holding on and clinging on to one's wealth and not sharing and spending.

00:22:27--> 00:22:42

These are not the characteristics of pure believers, but rather these are reflective of a weakness and a lack of faith, to the extent that they can be considered the traits of hypocrisy or be its lesser hypocrisy.

00:22:43--> 00:22:50

So this the the these are the themes, and the this is the theme and the topics of the surah.

00:22:51--> 00:22:52

Now,

00:22:53--> 00:22:55

Anwar for all the hypocrites

00:22:58--> 00:23:05

and hypocrisy, the noun, and the adverb is NIFA.

00:23:06--> 00:23:09

hypocrisy, where does the word come from?

00:23:11--> 00:23:12

Very interesting point.

00:23:14--> 00:23:17

We are all familiar with the word and if and when,

00:23:18--> 00:23:24

in fact, it's a term of insult. So people label one another mafia.

00:23:26--> 00:23:28

What is the word actually come from?

00:23:30--> 00:23:35

Obviously, the word was not used before the time or the Sahaba or the Allah when

00:23:36--> 00:24:00

there were many words that were used, but when asked because one word which wasn't used, but yet it's mentioned so many times throughout the Quran, it's part of the common vocabulary of the Quran of the Muslims of Islam of this habit of the Allah of the Hadith. So where did the word come from? What's its origin? How was it derived?

00:24:01--> 00:24:06

Interestingly, you may know that in Arabic NIFA means tunnel

00:24:09--> 00:24:11

it's a modern word as well. So

00:24:13--> 00:24:18

uh, tunnel is referred to as Norfolk. And it's actually mentioned in the Quran too.

00:24:20--> 00:24:31

For instance, data and the Boolean effort and fill out of Allah tells the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa salam, that if you can find a tunnel, a burrow in the earth.

00:24:33--> 00:24:36

So nuffic means a tunnel.

00:24:37--> 00:24:38

Furthermore,

00:24:40--> 00:24:46

there are certain animals, rodents, moles,

00:24:47--> 00:24:59

and lizards in all parts of the world, but especially in Arabia. So speaking in the Arabian context, there were certain rodents and lizards and still are

00:25:00--> 00:25:05

That burrow holes dig holes and burrows beneath the ground.

00:25:07--> 00:25:07

And

00:25:09--> 00:25:10

some of these animals

00:25:12--> 00:25:16

in order to thwart their, their Hunter

00:25:17--> 00:25:26

and to protect themselves. And as part of their strategy and mechanism and defense mechanism and deception,

00:25:27--> 00:25:36

what they do is that they dig a hole, and they enter the ground through that hole, then they create tunnels

00:25:38--> 00:25:40

even more than one and the

00:25:41--> 00:25:44

entrance of the hole is exposed, it's open.

00:25:46--> 00:25:51

And what the animal does is that it creates other holes

00:25:52--> 00:25:54

right beneath the surface.

00:25:55--> 00:26:01

So leading up to the surface, so the surface of the Earth is still intact,

00:26:02--> 00:26:08

with minimum with a minimum layer of soil, so it's not visible to the unluck.

00:26:09--> 00:26:13

The onlooker can only see the entrance holes.

00:26:15--> 00:26:18

The Arabs had a name for these entrance holes, RC.

00:26:20--> 00:26:25

Now what the lizard, the mole, the rodents, what these animals do,

00:26:26--> 00:26:28

is that if they are ever in danger,

00:26:30--> 00:26:32

and they are being perceived,

00:26:33--> 00:26:37

and they are under threat, they enter their holes.

00:26:38--> 00:27:10

The hunter, human or animal would remain at the Sierra meaning the entrance hole. And what these animals would do is they enter their labyrinth of burrows and tunnels and go to any one of the pre prepared at one of the prepared holes that would end just beneath the surface. And then they would break through and escape from somewhere else. This second hole, the exit hole that was a secret hole would be known as NAFTA ca.

00:27:11--> 00:27:17

And the Arabs took the term ownership from this word naphtha.

00:27:19--> 00:27:24

So it's a form of deception, where the animal enters a hole and a burrow

00:27:25--> 00:27:55

from an open area and exposed hole, and then creates a labyrinth and a web of deception of tunnels and burrows beneath and then escapes from an exit hole which others can't see which is secret, and which is dug up till just beneath the surface. So the second exit hole is known as an afterthought. And this is how the term came into common use. And hence we have NIFA hypocrisy and when

00:27:58--> 00:28:00

the hypocrite so

00:28:02--> 00:28:06

a good word for a monarch is a mole.

00:28:11--> 00:28:12

And when I felt is a mole

00:28:15--> 00:28:21

and when it comes to Islam, it's those who openly enter into Islam. It's a beautiful

00:28:22--> 00:28:29

connection, since the animal enters through the CAHSEE era, meaning and open the hole which is exposed and everyone can see it.

00:28:30--> 00:28:40

But they emerge from a secret hole. So similarly those women are gonna enter into Islam embrace Islam openly.

00:28:41--> 00:28:50

But then soon enough, they exit from Islam through one of the many secret tunnels and burrows and holes undetected.

00:28:51--> 00:28:59

So they aren't in the tunnel of Islam. They aren't in the burr faith, they entered into it, but they've disappeared.

00:29:01--> 00:29:02

And people assume they're still there.

00:29:05--> 00:29:14

So this is where the term NIFA hypocrisy and when AFIC singular and when our own plural derives from

00:29:15--> 00:29:21

now during the time of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam, who were the hypocrites.

00:29:22--> 00:29:23

What was considered in the fall?

00:29:25--> 00:29:25

Well,

00:29:27--> 00:29:30

there was no real concept of hypocrisy per se.

00:29:31--> 00:29:32

There was a small element,

00:29:33--> 00:29:59

but not the kind of NIFA we came, we come to know in Al Madina, Munawwara but in Makoto Khurana the Muslims were a very small impoverished weakened group, small in number. They lacked numbers, they lack strength, they lacked political influence sway. In fact, many of them couldn't protect themselves, and the more powerful ones and the wealthier

00:30:00--> 00:30:02

ones couldn't protect the weaker ones.

00:30:05--> 00:30:51

As a result, unfortunately, many of the Sahaba of the alarm in the earliest days of Islam were persecuted were tortured, and even martyred and they had to escape from muckety muck aroma with their lives and with their faith. Some of them escaped Abyssinia and others escaped later the second wave of emigration, there were two waves of Hijra to Abyssinia from a couple of the first wave followed by a second wave, and then eventually the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam advise them to emigrate and to do hedger at home with the little Manohara. So given their week, oppressed position, lacking wealth, lacking influence, lacking power, strength,

00:30:53--> 00:30:57

there was no incentive for anyone to pretend to be a Muslim.

00:31:01--> 00:31:02

In fact,

00:31:04--> 00:31:06

to some degree was almost suicidal.

00:31:08--> 00:31:19

And this points to the sincerity and the integrity of the belief of the Sahaba of the Allah Han. There is an argument

00:31:21--> 00:31:24

posited by sun, that

00:31:27--> 00:31:31

Mohammed Omar Abdullah sallallahu alayhi wa salam,

00:31:32--> 00:31:51

he managed to win and attract followers because he delivered a socialist message in Makaton Corona, he delivered a message of deliverance, of freedom of equality, of dignity to the oppressed to the slaves, to the extremely poor,

00:31:53--> 00:31:54

in this very

00:31:55--> 00:31:58

elitist society.

00:32:00--> 00:32:02

But this

00:32:03--> 00:32:08

flies in the face of all evidence that we have about life and MacArthur and macabre.

00:32:11--> 00:32:15

The truth is, for people to embrace slam them

00:32:16--> 00:32:25

was to invite opposition, persecution, imprisonment, torture, and even murder at the hands of them.

00:32:27--> 00:32:57

So there was no incentive for anyone to pretend to be a Muslim. They didn't have wealth, they didn't have political influence. They had no power, no strength, no control, no authority. So the lines were clearly set. The Muslims were Muslims, the non Muslims were non Muslims. This was a small camp of believers and followers of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam, in the midst of a whole city that was hostile.

00:32:59--> 00:33:00

Eventually when

00:33:01--> 00:33:05

the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam did Hijra to Madina Munawwara.

00:33:07--> 00:33:11

What happened in Medina, was that the

00:33:13--> 00:33:39

demographics of the city were such that you have two major Arab tribes, there were small other tribes as well or clans from amongst other tribes, but predominantly, the occupants and the inhabitants of the Oasis of the Madina Munawwara, which wasn't a walled city, as we imagine it, rather in Madina. Munawwara was a collection of settlements spread out across the whole of Asus.

00:33:41--> 00:33:43

And this is why, in fact, there were quite a few miles

00:33:44--> 00:33:51

between these different settlements. So even today, Uber, which is in the south of the city,

00:33:52--> 00:33:54

is part of the Madina, Munawwara

00:33:55--> 00:34:42

undoubtedly, but during the time of the Prophet Sall Allahu alayhi wa sallam he first descended and arrived in Uber after the Hijrah, which was in the south of the city. You remain there for some time. And then he proceeded not to the center of the city because there was no center. But he proceeded to the settlement of the banana jar who were his relatives. So He then travelled a few miles, not many but a few miles from Uber to another settlement. And eventually that's where he set up the Masjid. he resided there at the house of Allah you will and sorry, it'll the alarm, and set up the masjid there and eventually that became the center of the city, but even during the time of

00:34:42--> 00:34:59

the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam, even though it couldn't, it was still it was called El Medina previously he was known as yesterday. Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam changed the name to El Medina. And even though it was known as the city wasn't a conventional city was actually quite unlike Makoto macabre

00:35:00--> 00:35:48

It was It wasn't a walled city, but it was a very closely built city. And within Mahwah was just a collection of settlements spread out. So there were a number of tribes but the two main tribes were the oats and huzzah Ridge, who are actually related because they were the descendants of one tribe known as a bundle Gala. So, Olson hazard were the two largest, most powerful Arab tribes in and within from Walla Walla. There were a few scattered of the clans, remnants of other tribes. And then there were three large Jewish tribes the banal banal gar, re the Honduran elite been on the lead? These were the five main tribes of Allah, Madina, Munawwara. Of course, we can't come to exact

00:35:48--> 00:35:50

figures, but a rough estimate

00:35:51--> 00:35:55

of the total population of Madina, Munawwara at that time, and this is

00:35:56--> 00:36:03

an educated guess, is about 17,000 inhabitants across the whole settlement.

00:36:05--> 00:36:19

When the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam arrived on within Munawwara unheated Hijrah his position from the very first day in fact, before he left was very different to that in muckety muck Rama because in the BR tilaka.

00:36:20--> 00:36:21

In the pledge

00:36:23--> 00:37:10

during the Hajj prior to the hijra, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam had taken the pledge and the oath and the loyalty of the leaders of the Arab tribes of Al Madina, Munawwara and this when he arrived, they had swarmed to protect him to receive him to accommodate and support him. They in fact, he went on within Pomona water at their invitation. So when he arrived, even before his arrival, the situation was completely different. Many people had already embraced Islam. And upon his arrival, even more people embraced and within a very brief time, a very short time.

00:37:12--> 00:37:18

Most of the Arab tribes of Osen hemorrhage had already embraced Islam

00:37:19--> 00:37:19

they had.

00:37:21--> 00:37:38

What this meant is that there were many in both the Osen the heritage, Arab tribes of law, Madina, Munawwara, who for various reasons, did not want embrace. Either they weren't convinced.

00:37:40--> 00:37:51

Either they were indifferent, they couldn't care. Or they were bitterly opposed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam beforehand

00:37:53--> 00:38:02

for personal, political, or other reasons, such as Abdullah Hypnobabies saloon, he felt

00:38:04--> 00:38:30

that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam had robbed him of his crown because prior to the coming of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam I'm delighted nobody even said who was actually being prepared and group he wasn't being groomed he was his throne and his crown, his wreath were being prepared, not to literal throne but Metaphorically speaking, but literally, they were

00:38:31--> 00:38:52

weaving a wreath for him. And this is why once the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to one of the uncertainties Harbottle the Allah will say you didn't lay over the ALLAH and he said, Have you not seen what your companion meaning? I'm delighted nor even subtle. Because he was one of the coverage. He said have you not seen and heard what he has said and done?

00:38:53--> 00:38:57

So it will say you don't know how they will the Allahu and said to him, ya rasool Allah

00:38:59--> 00:39:05

overlook him and be gentle with him. For there is a reason for his behavior.

00:39:07--> 00:39:15

Because prior to your arrival, we were actually weaving and preparing a read for him to crown him as a king of Medina.

00:39:16--> 00:39:20

And when you arrived, he feels that you have robbed him of his kingship

00:39:22--> 00:39:59

of his throne. So be gentle with him. Yeah, rasool Allah overlook what he says and does he is bitter. So we'll see the data or the alarm wasn't supporting No, he was very sincere. So Harvey, it'll be Allah on one of Kurama he's the same Sahabi who was reciting the Quran, with his son, sleeping close by, and he saw lights and his horse was prancing as Mr. McCarty and others all relate. And then the next morning he came to relate the incident or saw the loss of the law Harley who was salam, Prophet sallallahu Sallam told him that the lives

00:40:00--> 00:40:08

that you saw rising up and then disappearing into the sky. These were the angels that had descended from the Heavens listen to your recitation of them

00:40:10--> 00:40:19

and had you continue to recite to morning then you would have greeted the angels in the streets of Medina. So

00:40:20--> 00:40:36

we'll say who they are the Allah on wasn't supporting and delighted nobody even subtle, rather, he was simply consoling and comforting Rasul allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, lightening the insult and hoping to

00:40:37--> 00:40:48

enable the Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam to feel that he is bitter for his own reasons and there is nothing personal towards a Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam

00:40:53--> 00:40:59

even Allah subhanho wa Taala advise a Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam not to take it personally.

00:41:01--> 00:41:02

Allah told him we know

00:41:05--> 00:41:07

that what they say grieves you

00:41:10--> 00:41:11

in who they are.

00:41:13--> 00:41:46

We know what they say grieves you for like the Buena cola in the valley Mina Bay Area to La he had Haroon but they do not reject you, they do not call you Elia rather these wrongdoers, they are in denial of the verses and the signs of Allah. So you didn't know how they will the Allah was me and it comforting Rasul allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So there were those who didn't believe either because they weren't convinced either because they were indifferent, or because they

00:41:48--> 00:41:58

harbored resentment and enmity towards a suit allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam prepared for personal or political reasons. And a prime example is Abdullah Hypnobabies. Saloon.

00:42:00--> 00:42:18

So these people, though they didn't want to believe they could not do what the Mexicans had done, which is declare their opposition and enmity and their refusal to believe. In fact, the Americans mocked the prophets of Allah. Here for Sula, honey has set out what salons position was

00:42:19--> 00:42:21

all assailing and prevalent.

00:42:22--> 00:42:25

And not only that their own family ties

00:42:27--> 00:43:01

prevented them from doing so. So it wasn't just in consideration of the influence and the power of the Muslims. Rather, when they looked around themselves, they saw that their own family members, their own clan, their own tribe, had embraced. So to refuse to embrace and such circumstances would have invited the opposition and the condemnation of their own family members who would have made things awkward for them. So many of these individuals decided to embrace Islam, follow

00:43:03--> 00:43:36

the remainder of the populace of Madina, Munawwara and become followers of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, so they embraced Islam openly. Some of them just kept quiet, but others, they trumpeted their Islam, even though they were liars, and disbeliefs. There were others who had doubts. So I'll mention shortly how the grades of hypocrisy played out even during the life of Rasulullah sallallahu. Today he was

00:43:37--> 00:44:00

so some of them kept quiet. Some of them were quiet, belligerent and provocative in what they said and did. And others, plotted and schemed and left no stone unturned spared no efforts in trying to harm Rasulullah sallallahu it will send them the Sahaba of the Allah one, the MaHA large and also the cause of Islam.

00:44:04--> 00:44:56

This is why the Quran devotes so many verses to them, and if they are mentioned throughout the Quran, in fact, the beginning of Surah Baqarah, the very beginning of the Holy Quran, not in terms of Revelation, but in terms of placement. Immediately after sort of refer to her, Allah begins the longer Surah of the Quran surah baqarah with a brief a very brief discussion of the articles of faith. And then Allah mentions of believers in just a few verses. And then Allah mentions the non believers in just a few verses. So the whole topic of the articles of faith, the believers, and then unbelievers, is contained within a few short verses at the beginning of sort of Bukhara

00:44:57--> 00:44:59

then Allah subhanho wa Taala

00:45:00--> 00:45:15

I mentioned the surah lon launches into a lengthy graphic, descriptive and detailed discussion of the munafo only Hippocrates it's a very lengthy section.

00:45:18--> 00:45:19

So Allah devotes

00:45:21--> 00:45:33

one or two verses to the believers one or two verses to the unbelievers, and then a whole set of long verses to them on Africa, right at the beginning of the Quran.

00:45:35--> 00:45:42

In order to why because the unbelievers were honest and noble in their disbelief.

00:45:43--> 00:45:51

The believers were honest and noble in their belief, but the mana for whom were the most dangerous of all groups.

00:45:53--> 00:46:02

So Allah azza wa jal devotes many verses of the Holy Quran to the topic of the one article, and here we have a complete sutra,

00:46:04--> 00:46:05

albeit short.

00:46:07--> 00:46:27

Now, during the time of the Prophet sallallahu, it was seldom as the Quran itself the Quran doesn't speak about all of them on our own as one rather different verses refer to different kind of monarchical. So this has to do with the grades. So at the highest grade, we had.

00:46:29--> 00:46:36

And before I continue, I'd like to mention that the this is very relevant is we should not believe

00:46:37--> 00:46:58

we should not believe that we should not think even for a moment that these topics are disconnected to us. They are unrelated to us. That the one Earth boom were a group that existed during the time of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam, condemned by Allah who is the source of Allah it was salam, and they have disappeared.

00:47:00--> 00:47:01

They don't concern as any

00:47:05--> 00:47:17

pursuit Allah so Allah highly he was syndrome warned us about hypocrisy. In a hadith he mentions that one of the signs of the reckoning one of the signs of the Byam

00:47:19--> 00:47:37

is the appearance of the FARC. Of course, the FARC was always there, but ie the flourishing of the FARC the flourishing of hypocrisy in one Hadith later by Omar Hamlins, Muslim from overabundance of barbital the Allah and Nam other lawsuit allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said

00:47:42--> 00:47:48

in the aquifer Maha for Allah Mati Ala Moana, limitless, indeed,

00:47:49--> 00:47:55

the greatest fear that I harbor for my ummah, is every

00:47:56--> 00:47:58

eloquent one after

00:48:00--> 00:48:01

every elephant.

00:48:03--> 00:48:07

Hip Hop hypocrites. This is my greatest fear.

00:48:08--> 00:48:11

And the Sahaba or the Allah who feared hypocrisy,

00:48:13--> 00:48:21

Imam Muslim ragdoll in all its forms. Imam Muslim Rahmatullahi la relates that once handler huddle the Allahu Orion

00:48:22--> 00:48:23

was at home.

00:48:26--> 00:48:27

He came out

00:48:28--> 00:48:31

he was met by Abu Bakr Siddiq of the Allah

00:48:32--> 00:48:36

Abu Bakr Radi Allahu Allah and said to him, how are you? Where are you going?

00:48:38--> 00:48:48

He said, I am going to Rasul Allah Lilavati or Sanlam and nafdac a handler, handler has become a monastic a hypocrites.

00:48:50--> 00:48:52

handler is guilty of hypocrisy.

00:48:53--> 00:48:56

So I'm gonna look at all the Allahu Allah and said What are you saying?

00:48:57--> 00:49:02

So he explained to him, he said, when we are with Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

00:49:04--> 00:49:05

He

00:49:08--> 00:49:15

advises us admonishes us reminds us about Jana,

00:49:16--> 00:49:17

Jana

00:49:20--> 00:49:24

and we are as though these things are before us.

00:49:25--> 00:49:32

Then when we return to our families and homes, we become engrossed in our children in our family's

00:49:34--> 00:49:58

completely different state. So have a bucket of the Lavon said Indeed. In that case, let us both go to rasool Allah salAllahu Alaihe Salam, they went, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam received them. handler who the Allah who aren't explained to him what he had just said to Abubaker the alarm. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to him, oh hamdulillah

00:49:59--> 00:49:59

no

00:50:00--> 00:50:03

But if you were to remain in the same state

00:50:05--> 00:50:06

permanently

00:50:07--> 00:50:14

and continuously as you are with me, in my presence, then the angels would greet you.

00:50:16--> 00:50:29

But oh hunger, serotonin wasa or serotonin sir satin, meaning Alhamdulillah this is from moment to moment, meaning, this experience that you have of being. So,

00:50:30--> 00:50:37

believing, so can convince. So in fear, so in all

00:50:38--> 00:50:54

in my presence, because of what I say to you and how you receive it, this cannot continue, these are moments, these are glimpses of truth, of realisation of reality.

00:50:56--> 00:51:01

So, these come and go, these are experiences from moment to moment.

00:51:02--> 00:51:16

And if you were to remain in that blissful, fearful, or inspired, state of realization, clarity continuously, then even the angels would embrace you. But that's not possible.

00:51:18--> 00:51:41

Why relate the hadith is that Subhan Allah Abubaker, the Allah horn, handler or the Allah Han, feared NIFA and hypocrisy, not in the most extreme sense, I have disloyalty and enmity and opposition to Allah and is also love, it was seldom, they feared even the least,

00:51:42--> 00:52:15

and the smallest and the slightest effects of hypocrisy, where their inner did not meet with their exterior. For them, true faith was, how they felt, how they were, how they perceive things, how they thought, and how they believed in the presence of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi salam, their desire was to remain in that states continuously. And if they ever detected any departure from that, they feared hypocrisy. This is why I said the end of pseudo monarchy

00:52:17--> 00:52:23

is not disconnected. After speaking about the hypocrites, Allah says, Yeah, you have Lavina Amendola total

00:52:25--> 00:52:45

victory lap Hola. Oh believers do not let your wealth and your chill it Do not let your wealth and your children distract you from the remembrance of Allah. This is exactly what hamdulillah well bucket of the Allahu and feared that when they went back to their homes, their families, their children and their wealth, distracted them from the remembrance of Allah and from the

00:52:46--> 00:52:58

so the Sahaba the love and feared hypocrisy for themselves. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam feared the follow up and hypocrisy for us. So why shouldn't we be sensitive to it?

00:52:59--> 00:53:09

So when we discuss the grades of Nefab we shouldn't think for a moment we should never be complacent. And imagine that none of this concerns is no

00:53:11--> 00:53:34

Allah who is Rasul Allah, Allah Allah who was some of them have warned us about all the grades of hypocrisy down to the lowest. So during the time of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam, as Allah mentioned in the Quran, there were various groups. At the top end, the most extreme of the hypocrites were those who did not believe for a moment, there will never believes

00:53:35--> 00:53:37

they embraced Islam openly,

00:53:39--> 00:53:50

but secretly from within at heart, they were not only disbelievers. They were sworn avowed, bitter, implacable enemies of Allah who was also the law.

00:53:51--> 00:53:56

For them, embracing Islam was a mechanism a means

00:53:57--> 00:54:11

to be moles from within to burrow from within, to undermine from within to harm from within, harm the cause of Islam harm the Muslims, in fact, even harm basalt Allah, so Allah Almighty,

00:54:12--> 00:54:16

they spared no efforts in colluding with the enemy

00:54:17--> 00:54:21

in conspiring with the enemy in damaging the Muslims,

00:54:23--> 00:54:26

even if it led to murder massacre.

00:54:27--> 00:54:29

So these were the extreme ones.

00:54:32--> 00:54:41

And it's remarkable, even though the prime example is Abdullah ignore even subtle, who left no efforts whatsoever.

00:54:42--> 00:54:43

And yet,

00:54:45--> 00:54:58

they would announce Islam so passionately and repeatedly and regularly. So these were the extreme ones. Then there were others. The others, which the Quran also addresses

00:55:00--> 00:55:03

There's a very beautiful description of the first group.

00:55:05--> 00:55:05

Allahu Akbar.

00:55:07--> 00:55:12

Yeah, you have Lavina Amanullah to Bhutan and to Mindu Nicola Luna

00:55:14--> 00:55:19

What do man Is that better tilba Amin Fahim, Mama toffee sudo

00:55:24--> 00:55:31

00:55:32--> 00:55:35

what is called who Armineh

00:55:37--> 00:55:37

00:55:41--> 00:55:42

add to

00:55:43--> 00:55:47

hide or move to belay, they come in Allahabad even without sudo.

00:55:48--> 00:55:58

Allah says, All believers do not take as confidence. Those who are not from amongst

00:56:01--> 00:56:04

la luna Kabbalah, these

00:56:05--> 00:56:09

they will spare no efforts in harming you.

00:56:12--> 00:56:17

What do men need, whatever you suffer, they love.

00:56:19--> 00:56:20

They love

00:56:21--> 00:56:22

that you suffer.

00:56:25--> 00:56:36

But that alone for him, rank hatred has poured forth from the mountains with my toffee sudo Akbar, and what their hearts conceal is even great.

00:56:37--> 00:56:44

Indeed, we have made clear the signs to you the verses to if only you understand

00:56:45--> 00:56:49

the things that you take as your confidence

00:56:50--> 00:56:52

and that you believe to be of your own

00:56:54--> 00:56:55

these

00:56:56--> 00:56:59

you love them, but they live in knots.

00:57:01--> 00:57:08

Even though you believe in the whole book, they don't believe at all, even though that's not the part of the verse, but that's meaning.

00:57:09--> 00:57:19

How are these harmed you these you love them, they love you not even though you believe in the whole book

00:57:24--> 00:57:34

and when they meet you, they say Amen Now we have believed ie we are believers just like you we are Muslim just like you. We are one of you you are others we are of you.

00:57:39--> 00:57:40

Yet

00:57:41--> 00:57:46

we that Hello yet when they seclude when they retreat into seclusion.

00:57:51--> 00:57:59

Abdu alikhan will alarm in the middle Hey, Allah mentions it so beautifully. They bite their fingers in seething anger against you.

00:58:02--> 00:58:12

Before you they are all smiles and they say we are with you. You are with us. We are off you you are others we are believers just like you. But the moment they retreat in seclusion,

00:58:14--> 00:58:18

they bite their fingers in anger in seething rage at you.

00:58:20--> 00:58:24

We'll move to the rays that come say to them dying your rage.

00:58:28--> 00:58:34

Verily Allah is well aware of what the hearts contain or the wisdom is contained.

00:58:36--> 00:58:38

In them Cisco hasenhuttl

00:58:40--> 00:58:40

They

00:58:44--> 00:58:51

were impossible to say yet on your behalf. If any good fortune meet you. This hurts them.

00:58:53--> 00:58:57

And if any calamity touches you, they rejoice that it's

00:58:59--> 00:59:03

so this is the first group of the hypocrites. They weren't

00:59:05--> 00:59:29

they this is a very good description of this is how they were. So they weren't just hypocritical believers in the sense that they couldn't be bothered to believe they weren't convinced. So when they met the Muslims, they said yes, we pray we fast just like you and when they go away, they don't bother they keep themselves to themselves. No, this was a first group those who are implacable bitter enemies.

00:59:31--> 00:59:34

Then there was another group, the second group was

00:59:35--> 00:59:41

slightly less passionate than the first in the sense that they

00:59:44--> 00:59:52

believed and declared their belief merely to gain something wealth, protection of the Muslims

00:59:53--> 00:59:55

continue with their good life.

00:59:56--> 00:59:59

Not they wanted it easy. They wanted it

01:00:00--> 01:00:03

easily so they didn't want to have to answer questions to anyone

01:00:04--> 01:00:37

to answer to anyone, if everyone else believes go with the flow, believe with them, even though our heart we weren't believers, but they more or less kept themselves to themselves. When it suited them, they would come with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam when he suited them, they will abandon the Muslims, and Allah condemns them to but they weren't like the first group who were extreme. Then even below the second group, there were those who, for some reason actually embraced Islam. So they did embrace Islam.

01:00:38--> 01:00:40

half heartedly,

01:00:41--> 01:01:06

unlike the first two groups, they were disbelievers, these, they were, it's like, let me try this out. So they did embrace half heartedly. And they always remained in between neither believing or disbelieving. At times, they would see the light at times they wouldn't. At times they will find themselves in darkness. In fact, some of the verses of the Quran refer to that as well.

01:01:07--> 01:01:35

Then there were others at the lower end, who were still hypocrites of faith in the sense that they didn't believe. But their condition was actually quite concerning concerning for us in that Subhan Allah, they weren't enemies of Rasulullah sallallahu Ali, they weren't enemies of the Muslims, or for various reasons. They actually embraced slang, wanting to believe.

01:01:37--> 01:01:58

But because of the weakness of their faith, the weakness of their deeds, because of their connections, because of their relationships with various different people, because of the company they kept, because of their lack of loyalty, their lack of commitment, despite initially wanting to believe sincerely, what they ended up doing is

01:02:00--> 01:02:03

being confused, suffering doubt.

01:02:05--> 01:02:30

And they would move forward, back and forward one step back two steps, and they lived in the state of confusion, even though they weren't enemies of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam, or the Muslims, but they actually suffered a personal crisis of lack of faith, lack of belief, as a result, but they continued openly as Muslims law even condemned them in the Quran.

01:02:33--> 01:02:39

So these are some of the groups now these groups that I've mentioned, they are

01:02:41--> 01:02:49

of those hypocrites, who are guilty of hypocrisy in belief hypocrisy in faith hypocrisy of Eman

01:02:50--> 01:03:10

in that they apparently embraced Islam proclaimed Islam, but at heart they were disbelievers or at heart, they became disbelievers because of serious doubts, even though they originally embraced Islam, but they weren't honest enough to declare their disbelief. They wanted to continue with their belief.

01:03:12--> 01:03:20

Apparently, but at heart, they became disbelievers after initially embracing Islam, actually, sincerely,

01:03:22--> 01:03:22

to some degree.

01:03:24--> 01:03:51

So all of these were guilty of hypocrisy of faith. Now, this is what the Quran touches on. However, we are also we should also be concerned about the second category of hypocrisy, which is hypocrisy not of faith, but rather the hypocrisy of deeds in that a person is a Muslim, believes themselves to be Muslim.

01:03:53--> 01:03:57

But their interior does not match their exterior.

01:03:58--> 01:04:01

Their deeds do not match their claims.

01:04:03--> 01:04:05

They claim to be Muslim and Markman.

01:04:08--> 01:04:10

In World in testimony,

01:04:11--> 01:04:16

but their actions, their behavior, all belie their claim.

01:04:18--> 01:04:25

Now, we can't point out to anyone else that he isn't on Earth yet he is on earth it even the Sahaba or the Allahu Anhu did not do that.

01:04:28--> 01:04:39

Even or they've done only a man will be Allah Han, who is the keeper of the secrets of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa salam did not do that. Even though he had some of the names. He never pointed out anyone.

01:04:40--> 01:04:42

He would never disclose the names.

01:04:43--> 01:04:54

So when the Sahaba or the Allah on him didn't do it, and they feared calling anyone on Earth. In fact, they never had the time to worry about other people's and if they worried about themselves.

01:04:57--> 01:04:59

We should follow in their footsteps and we should also be cool

01:05:00--> 01:05:06

cerned about ourselves that do, do our interiors match how exterior?

01:05:07--> 01:05:26

Do our words and our deeds match our claims? This How about all the love and who feared that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam feared it's for us. And there are many Hadith, in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentions the characteristics of the hypocrites. Some of the characteristics are

01:05:28--> 01:05:31

they eat with in gluttony.

01:05:33--> 01:05:35

They consume food.

01:05:37--> 01:05:41

In gluttony. They eat a lot. They are devoted to food.

01:05:42--> 01:06:00

They pray little, they are like logs at night. They don't wake up. For salah, they are like logs, they sleep, they eat, they sleep, they come to the masjid, infrequently only occasionally, in one generation,

01:06:01--> 01:06:05

after long periods of absence, and reluctantly.

01:06:06--> 01:06:10

In fact, Allah mentions that in the Quran, will either come in a solitary on

01:06:11--> 01:06:21

your own as well as Quran Allah who love kalila. When they rise to prayer, they rise, languidly, indolently lazily,

01:06:22--> 01:06:27

merely showing the people and they do not remember ALLAH, except very literally.

01:06:28--> 01:06:29

So

01:06:30--> 01:06:50

and that's a warning. Allah doesn't say they don't pray. Allah doesn't even say they never remember Allah. Allah actually says they do remember ALLAH, but little, Allah says they do pray, but they rise language in a half hearted manner. So this is what one of the Hadith also says that they are like lungs.

01:06:51--> 01:07:05

They eat Allah in one Hadith, it's even said to learner, that they're greeting is a curse Subhan Allah, that greeting is a curse what does that mean? They are foul of tongue.

01:07:06--> 01:07:35

When they meet one another, their greetings their parent exchange of pleasantries is not dignified. They are course of tongue uncouth of behavior, unrefined in their mannerisms, and when they greet one another, they are foul mouthed, they curse each other Subhan Allah, we should ask ourselves, to what degree are our greetings and now exchange us

01:07:38--> 01:07:44

dignified and refined, a man came to the salt Allah some of the love it who some of them and said to him.

01:07:46--> 01:07:46

Good morning.

01:07:47--> 01:07:58

Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam said, Allah subhana wa to Allah has given us a much better greeting and replace this with that as Salaam Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

01:08:03--> 01:08:20

So, one of the descriptions of the hypocrites is that their greetings are a curse. They eat excessively, they sleep excessively, they do not come to the masjid accepting frequently and very

01:08:22--> 01:08:24

lazily, and we looked.

01:08:25--> 01:08:33

And there are other descriptions as well. And some of the most famous, powerful descriptions are in the authentic hadith which I will relate soon.

01:08:34--> 01:08:35

So we should fear

01:08:36--> 01:09:15

the fog in all its forms, and especially the lower end of NIFA, which may not be in the fog of faith and the fog of iman hypocrisy of faith in that we say we are Muslim, but it's hard to be disbelieve. But just as the Sahaba or the Allah who can fit hypocrisy of deeds, that their interior did not match their exterior, or that their deeds did not match their words and their claims that their characteristics and their traits could be of those Allahu Allahu Allahu Salam considered when I have a goon and hypocrites rather than believers and let me know

01:09:16--> 01:09:27

we should follow in their footsteps and be conscious of this. Having said all of that, let me begin the surah Allah subhanho wa Taala Allah says Bismillah R Rahman Rahim

01:09:29--> 01:09:33

is our Jerusalem on our on our Luna shadow in Nicola rasool Allah.

01:09:35--> 01:09:39

When the hypocrites come to you laws addressing the messengers from the law highly

01:09:40--> 01:09:42

when the hypocrites come to you.

01:09:44--> 01:09:53

They say the shadow in Nicola rasool Allah, we testify that short indeed surely you are the Messenger of Allah.

01:09:56--> 01:09:58

This is how bold their claims were.

01:10:00--> 01:10:04

emphasise not just that we believe in you.

01:10:07--> 01:10:10

See the words, not just that we believe in you,

01:10:12--> 01:10:25

or that we embrace your faith, or that we follow you, or that we accept you or that we acknowledge, you know, Allah says either. This is why the Quran is so elegant and Allah is not.

01:10:27--> 01:10:45

Allah is quoting them, though not necessarily verbatim, but Allah is describing what they say in Word and indeed, either Gerken Luna, when the hypocrites come to you all they say, no shirt, we testify the first point of emphasis.

01:10:46--> 01:10:49

We don't just say, we give testimony.

01:10:50--> 01:10:53

We provide testimony, we testify.

01:10:55--> 01:11:00

What in the indeed surely, Verily you

01:11:02--> 01:11:05

are learn most assuredly.

01:11:07--> 01:11:17

All these words of emphasis, we testify that indeed, you most assuredly are Rasul Allah, the Messenger of Allah.

01:11:22--> 01:11:25

Then Allah says towards the end of the verse,

01:11:26--> 01:11:35

will Allah who ushered in the penal aka the womb, and Allah testifies, they testify that You are the messenger of Allah.

01:11:37--> 01:11:54

And Allah testifies of Allah He ushered in the home, it will love you should and Allah testifies in them when I feel clean that surely the hypocrites, loca the moon are most assuredly liars. Allah matches their emphasis word for word.

01:11:58--> 01:12:07

When the hypocrites come to you, they say nichette We testify. So Allah says, Allah who you should, Allah testifies.

01:12:09--> 01:12:12

They say, in, indeed you.

01:12:13--> 01:12:21

And Allah says, in the Mona Athena, indeed the hypocrites. They say, learn most assuredly,

01:12:22--> 01:12:32

Allah says, Learn most assuredly, they say Rasul Allah, that You are the messenger of Allah. Allah says, God, the womb, they are liars, word for word.

01:12:35--> 01:12:36

But this is towards the end of the surah.

01:12:38--> 01:12:44

Now there's a danger that it could mean that the hypocrites said, when they come, they say,

01:12:45--> 01:13:15

We testify that most assuredly You are the messenger of Allah. And Allah says at the end of the verse, And Allah testifies that they are liars. Allah forbid, this could give a hostile reader the impression that Allah has saying that they are liars in their claim that he is a messenger of Allah. So IE they that Allah Himself is rejecting the claim that Muhammad Abdullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is a messenger of Allah.

01:13:19--> 01:13:29

There is that possibility. Allah they say that You are the messenger of Allah and Allah say that Allah says they are lies. So what are the lies about that You are the messenger of Allah.

01:13:30--> 01:13:32

When in fact you aren't.

01:13:33--> 01:14:08

And that's why they are lying. No. So that comes at the end of the surah. Allah beautifully before he mentioned this part. Allah says in between, if you're gonna if you're gonna fall within a shadow in Mikela rasool Allah, when the hypocrites come to you, they say, We testify that indeed you are most assuredly the Messenger of Allah will love we are in Nicola Rasool, Allah knows that indeed you are most assuredly His messenger. Wallah who you shadow in and when I clean the womb, and Allah testifies that indeed the hypocrites are most assuredly the eyes.

01:14:10--> 01:14:11

So there is that bit in between.

01:14:14--> 01:14:16

Now what this verse tells us,

01:14:17--> 01:14:20

and the lesson for us it, it's easy to make a claim.

01:14:22--> 01:14:24

It's so easy.

01:14:25--> 01:14:30

It's simple for a person say I'm a Muslim. I am.

01:14:31--> 01:14:36

I believe I love the messengers of Allah it was

01:14:38--> 01:14:44

the moon African would say the same. In fact, they probably said it more eloquently than we could ever do something.

01:14:47--> 01:14:48

And Allah testifies to that.

01:14:50--> 01:14:55

That words of emphasis, repeated emphasis.

01:14:57--> 01:14:59

In fact, do you know how easy

01:15:00--> 01:15:05

It was and it remains for hypocrites to proclaim their faith.

01:15:07--> 01:15:13

Abdullah Hypnobabies, who, who is widely regarded as being the leader of the monarchy,

01:15:14--> 01:15:18

when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam came to him with him through Munawwara.

01:15:23--> 01:15:25

For over two years

01:15:27--> 01:15:30

for almost three years, until the Battle of

01:15:34--> 01:15:41

our beloved movie, even saloon had a certain practice, which is very isn't it's not it's not well known at all.

01:15:43--> 01:16:02

But he had a certain practice. Do you know what that practice was? For almost three years, because he was the uncrowned king of and Madina, Munawwara, prior to the arrival of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihe Salam. He was a very prepossessing attractive, handsome,

01:16:03--> 01:16:06

appealing, charming, eloquent

01:16:08--> 01:16:08

politician.

01:16:11--> 01:16:14

He was a born leader, he had all the qualities of leadership.

01:16:16--> 01:16:18

He had the charm, the appearance,

01:16:20--> 01:16:24

the pre possessiveness, the handsomeness

01:16:26--> 01:16:28

the appeal, the intelligence

01:16:31--> 01:16:48

the uncanny ability to surround himself by sycophants and followers, he had all of these qualities in him. And Allah describes them later, in sort of them on iPhone. He had flaming red cheeks He was very handsome, tall, well built.

01:16:51--> 01:16:53

Abdullah have an OB even subtle,

01:16:54--> 01:16:55

being the lead,

01:16:57--> 01:17:11

and the uncrowned king and within one hour he commanded great influence exerted, immeasurable influence. What happened is that after the Prophet salallahu alayhi salam came, even though he sees from within

01:17:12--> 01:17:15

and he hated the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam.

01:17:16--> 01:17:19

He bought he harbored resentment towards him.

01:17:21--> 01:17:32

He felt robbed by him. Despite all of these inner feelings. His practice was for almost three years that every Jumeirah he would stand up in the masjid before the

01:17:34--> 01:17:35

before the gym or output.

01:17:36--> 01:17:38

And he would say to the whole congregation, and people would listen.

01:17:40--> 01:17:52

People would listen because he was well respected. He would say, oh, people, remember he was from the President's tribe. He said, Oh people, this is the messenger of Allah.

01:17:54--> 01:18:00

He is the messenger of Allah. believe in Him, follow Him and obey Him, and then he would sit down.

01:18:01--> 01:18:16

He did this for almost three years, every Jamara Salah before the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was cooked, but he would stand up and tell the whole audience or people Oh assembly, this is the messenger of Allah.

01:18:17--> 01:18:20

believe in Him, follow Him except

01:18:23--> 01:18:26

Subhan Allah, so it's so easy

01:18:27--> 01:18:41

to be hypocritical. It's so easy to lie publicly. It's so easy to claim belief in Allah and is Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam even love Abdullah Hypnobabies Salut did it beautifully for three years,

01:18:42--> 01:18:51

all the way up to earth. Then what happened in Oran? We don't have time to go into the details but in the Battle of Word, Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa salam.

01:18:53--> 01:18:57

A year after the Battle of better which was in Ramadan, the second year of Hijra

01:18:58--> 01:18:59

a year later,

01:19:00--> 01:19:03

the Quraysh to avenge their dead traveled to Medina.

01:19:05--> 01:19:27

When Muslims learns of their arrival, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam held a council of wall, what should we do? Should we defend the city from within remaining in our strongholds? Because remember, it wasn't a walled city, but in the strongholds and the fortresses of each of the settlements, or should we go out and meet them in an open warfare?

01:19:29--> 01:19:29

So some

01:19:32--> 01:19:44

advise the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam and they offered their opinion that we should remain in the strongholds and the fortresses and others advocated going out to meet them in open warfare.

01:19:45--> 01:19:59

I'm delighted nobody even said who was one of those who advocated remaining within the settlements and not going out to challenge and face the enemy. Eventually, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam having heard all opinions came to the decision

01:20:00--> 01:20:04

In which he then said is irreversible, once he has decreed

01:20:05--> 01:20:16

that they should go out and meet them in open warfare. So I'm delighted or even at all, resented even this, that I sort of lost the love it was still him didn't accept his opinion.

01:20:19--> 01:20:29

So the next morning, when everyone travelled from their parts of the city, their set from their settlements towards Mount or hood,

01:20:30--> 01:21:04

Abdullah Hypnobabies son all traveled with his contingent. And since he was the lead, he shortly just before the battleground at some distance from the battleground, he convened his followers and others, and he spoke to them and being eloquent persuasive. He convinced them not to take part in this folly of meeting the enemy in open warfare. As a result of his persuasion,

01:21:05--> 01:21:42

and his turn, backsliding and his turning back 300 of the army defected, they didn't defect to the enemy, but they turned back and went back to their homes and settlements. As a result, Abdullah had nobody even single handedly reduced the whole army of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. By 1/3, there were approximately 1000, they were meeting 3000 or Aishe. Now from there, we're already at a disadvantage of being 1/3 of the opposing force. Now they were at the disadvantage of being one quarter of the opposing force.

01:21:44--> 01:22:05

So I'm delighted Norway even son who was single handedly did this. So after this, he's again stood up in the gym or on a hook by and said, oh people, this is the Messenger of Allah, believe in Him, embrace Him, follow Him. So some of the Sahaba or the Allah Aang grabbed him and said, How dare you even after what you did?

01:22:09--> 01:22:21

So it's very easy. So this is why Allah subhanho wa Taala Allah says all them on our own. When the hypocrites came to you, they say when they come to you, they say,

01:22:22--> 01:22:27

surely we testify that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah.

01:22:29--> 01:22:33

And Allah knows who you are his message, but Allah testifies that they are lies and

01:22:36--> 01:22:44

law, false testimony and line are some of the greatest characteristics and traits of hypocrisy

01:22:45--> 01:22:52

and Rasul allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has warned us about these two false testimony and lie.

01:22:54--> 01:22:55

Things that are very common.

01:22:56--> 01:22:57

We should be faithful.

01:23:00--> 01:23:02

I'll end with one verse.

01:23:04--> 01:23:06

Because then we're done over time, and

01:23:08--> 01:23:10

we'll I'll conclude the next verse. But

01:23:12--> 01:23:19

these traits of hypocrisy are very serious. Do you know why? We may not be hypocrites.

01:23:21--> 01:23:26

But our hypocritical behavior may eventually lead us to hypocrisy.

01:23:29--> 01:23:31

And this beautiful verse of the Quran, which explains a

01:23:33--> 01:23:39

woman who had the law Helene atta and I'm in fourthly healing a sub de undergone an akuna mina salary

01:23:42--> 01:23:44

for the ma hoomin, fogli, he Buckelew

01:23:47--> 01:23:48

with the Walla Walla

01:23:50--> 01:23:53

for our kaboom the Falcon, fuel, Kuru be him. Owner,

01:23:54--> 01:23:59

Uma, colorful. Lahoma where I do will be Malcolm weekly, Allahu Akbar.

01:24:00--> 01:24:10

Here Allah has describing those same hypocrites that I said, I spoke about earlier, not the extreme ones, but those who believe sincerely.

01:24:11--> 01:24:13

And in a way you were sincere.

01:24:14--> 01:24:20

They lacked loyalty, they lacked commitment, they lacked fealty

01:24:21--> 01:24:23

and they delivered and they waive it

01:24:24--> 01:24:25

and they were weak.

01:24:29--> 01:24:38

So Allah subhanho wa taala, Allah says of them, and they are those who manera Had Allah who pledged to Allah.

01:24:39--> 01:24:48

Let him atta and I'm in furtherly that if Allah gives us of His Bounty, ie He gives us wealth of His Grace and Bounty, then what will we do?

01:24:50--> 01:25:00

Then a sub the underworld, an akuna nomina, Swati hain, we will most assuredly give charity and we will most assuredly.

01:25:00--> 01:25:01

Be of the pious

01:25:04--> 01:25:11

and before I continue, what are the final verses are sort of thrown off on say, final this

01:25:12--> 01:25:20

one frequently Marzano communicably. And yet he had a common mouth and give and spend in the way of Allah before death comes upon one of you.

01:25:23--> 01:25:36

Then when death does come upon one of you for your good or up below that certainly leave one of you then says, oh, Allah, give me respite. Give me some delay, give me some time. Why?

01:25:37--> 01:26:03

Why, for a sadaqa akumina Salah hain. So that I may give in charity, and I may be of the pious. And what does that verse say? And there are those who pledged to Allah. That if Allah gives us His bounty in grace, let us know what an akuna min Assad solid team we will surely give in charity and we will be of the pious. See how the verses match.

01:26:05--> 01:26:15

Fela Mata min foglia So when Allah did give them of His Grace and Bounty by law, they were miserly and stingy there have with it.

01:26:18--> 01:26:20

So they broke their pledge to Allah.

01:26:21--> 01:26:29

When Allah did give them wealth of His Bounty and grace, rather than giving in charity, they held on to it they hoarded it, they were miserly with it.

01:26:31--> 01:26:38

And instead of becoming of the pies, we will surely be of the pies. What do they do? What the what

01:26:40--> 01:26:43

they turned away whilst being heedless.

01:26:45--> 01:26:48

The terms back whilst turning away.

01:26:49--> 01:26:52

So what did Allah subhanho wa Taala do as a result?

01:26:55--> 01:27:01

Listen to the words for our Abba, whom the FARC and fuchal Ruby him. So Allah

01:27:03--> 01:27:09

created or Allah placed hypocrisy in their hearts as a result.

01:27:11--> 01:27:51

Eli Yomi will come till the day that shall meet him. Why, because of their contravening and breaking the pledge and promise they made him where we mark and we actually mourn and because of their line, what the verse says is that initially they were sincere, or they appeared to me sincere, that if Allah gives us his wealth, we pledge that we will give in charity, and we will be good. When the test of wealth came, they failed. And they broke their pledge to Allah, and they turned away instead of becoming pious. So these were the traits of hypocrisy in terms of deeds. They weren't hypocrites a heart.

01:27:53--> 01:27:54

Apparently, we don't know.

01:27:56--> 01:28:05

But because of they're lying, and they're breaking their pledge and promise that actually led to their hypocrisy in belief and in heart.

01:28:08--> 01:28:30

As punishment, so lies, we may think lies are harmless, breaking promises, and pledges are harmless. But if this behavior persists, there is a great danger that this may actually lead initially, these are just this is just hypocrisy indeed. But this may actually lead to hypocrisy in faith in hearts

01:28:36--> 01:28:39

aligned with the next well, I'll end here because

01:28:40--> 01:28:57

we don't have time may Allah scramble with protectors? May Allah enablers to understand the dangers of NIFA in all its forms, not just in the Falcon hypocrisy of faith and Eman, but also hypocrisy of

01:28:59--> 01:29:00

the deeds.

01:29:01--> 01:29:09

And one of the hypocrisy one of the characteristics of hypocrisy is the idea showmanship ostentatious display.

01:29:12--> 01:29:17

And in one Hadith again relate to Burma mandolins Muslims, so lots of Allahu alayhi wa sallam said

01:29:18--> 01:29:22

in Aqua Maha for la cama Shergill as well. Indeed.

01:29:24--> 01:29:34

The greatest fear that I have for you is the lesser shidduch. The minor share the minor idolatry, the minor paganism

01:29:35--> 01:29:58

so the Sahaba said yah rasool Allah, what's a Schickel hustler? What's the minor paganism? What's this minor shipwreck? This minor idolatry Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said Alia showmanship, display ostentation doing things insincerely merely to show others merely to display to others.
