Can Our Loved Ones Who Have Passed Away Hear Us

Assalamu alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh My dear brothers and sisters, today we are addressing a sensitive and often asked question, can our loved ones who have passed away? Hear us? It is a profound and comforting topic. So join me as we explore the strong evidences that we have from the teachings of the prophets of Allah Allahu alayhi wa sallam that clearly answered this question. So I'd like to start off by sharing evidence from the Hadith of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam, and in my exploration, I found compelling narrations that, yes, affirm the ability of the deceased to hear us evidence number one, hearing footsteps in a narration recorded in both the books

of Imam Al Bukhari and Imam Muslim Rahim Allah. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stated that when a person is buried, and they and those who attended the burial leave the deceased, the one who is buried can hear the sound of their receding footsteps. Now, this hadith strongly suggests a certain level of awareness and perception that remains even after death. Evidence number two, greeting the dwellers of graves, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam he encouraged us to greet the dwellers of the graves when we visit a graveyard. He taught us to say, a salam Wa alaykum, let the criminal meanwhile Muslimeen we're in insha Allah who become law headcorn Peace be

upon you all, or inhabitants of the graves from amongst you the believers and the Muslims were in in sha Allah Verily, We will Allah willing be united with you. Now this guidance from the Prophet sallahu wa salam again documented in both the books of Imam Al Bukhari and Muslim Rama Humala further affirms the connection between the living and the deceased. We also have one more incident.

The third evidence that I'd like to present addressing the dead of birth, in a profound event following the Battle of better the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he addressed the deceased, if I'm not mistaken, three days after their death at at Bethel, confirming the ability, once again of the dead to hear the living. Now this event is a significant indication of the deceased, retaining a certain form of awareness. Now, let's reflect on these ahaadeeth on the evidence on these authentic narrations that I just shared. So we understand through these narrations that yes, there is this continued connection, there exists a continued connection between us and our loved ones who have

passed away a connection that is rooted in compassion. It is rooted in love,

care and the teachings of our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, but this connection must be defined, it is not a two way connection. The minute you pass away, you are no longer part of this realm, the realm that you and I are currently in dunya. No, as you pass away, you move on to the next realm, and there is no way to come back to this realm. So yes, our loved ones have moved on to the realm known as El Betsa. And they cannot influence this realm in any way.

But through the wisdom of Allah, through the mercy of Allah, He has established that they retain a certain sense of awareness, where they are aware when we greet them, they are aware when we pray for them. So this knowing this knowing that our loved ones can hear us can can hear our greetings, can hear our prayers for them. It brings us so much of comfort and solace. And most importantly, my dear brothers and sisters, you can do good deeds on behalf of them you can gift good deeds. Again, let me present evidence, Saudi banaba data, the hola Juan his mother passes away, he goes to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and he asks the Prophet Jarocin Allah my mother has passed away. Can I

give charity on behalf of her? The Prophet replies in the affirmative, he says yes, then Sadie banaba Dottie Allah one asks a very pertinent question. What form of charity is the best Yasser Allah the narration goes along the lines of these words.

Now, there are so many causes, right? So many projects, so many causes. So he's asking a very pertinent question which form of charity is the best and the Prophet clarifies in that narration, sup Ulema giving water to drink? So just imagine a child has lost his or her mother or father.

A husband has lost his wife, a wife lost her husband.

and now the son goes and builds a water solution in memory as a gift on behalf of his mother, on behalf of his father, on behalf of the spouse on behalf of the sibling. For as long as water flows, my dear brother, my dear sister for every drop of water for every creature, quenching its thirst through that water. In sha Allah, Allah Allah, Allah the Most Generous will gift will reward you. And equally, there will be rewards gifted to the loved one who has passed away upon whom, on behalf of whom this water solution has been installed or built. So this gives us so much of comfort, so much of solace. It encourages us to maintain this loving connection, through respectful greetings

through prayers and through good deeds for them for our loved ones who have passed away. So in conclusion, these authentic ahaadeeth present a strong foundation for believing that our deceased loved ones can hear us.

So as we remember and pray for our loved ones, let us do so with the comforting knowledge that they are aware of our greetings they are aware of our prayers, they are aware of the good deeds that we are gifting unto them.
