Just got a better name and hamdulillah Salatu was Salam ala

00:00:02 --> 00:00:06

ship an MBI one more study and say that out well, Mona What have you

00:00:06 --> 00:00:10

been on? Mohamed Salah Allahu Allah you SLM while it was Samuel

00:00:10 --> 00:00:11

salam for Sleeman kathira.

00:00:13 --> 00:00:17

Welcome again, everyone, thank you for being here. I know these are

00:00:17 --> 00:00:18

very difficult times.

00:00:19 --> 00:00:24

And I was asked even before I came here, if I was going to address

00:00:25 --> 00:00:32

the current crisis, in beloved, fit asleep, and honestly, I feel

00:00:32 --> 00:00:37

so ill equipped to do that I don't know where to begin, I think we're

00:00:37 --> 00:00:43

all kind of, for lack of a better word, or phrase shell shocked by

00:00:43 --> 00:00:47

what we're witnessing. It's traumatic to keep turning on your

00:00:47 --> 00:00:52

phone. Last night, I received a phone call a little late. And I

00:00:52 --> 00:00:56

mentioned that I was watching videos, because I couldn't keep my

00:00:56 --> 00:00:59

eyes off of it. But I know that I need to sleep but I can't. And I'm

00:00:59 --> 00:01:03

sure I'm not the only one who's struggling with balance right now.

00:01:03 --> 00:01:05

Right? We're probably,

00:01:06 --> 00:01:10

you know, so distracted at work with our kids, wherever we are,

00:01:10 --> 00:01:14

because our heart is over there. Wondering what's going on our mind

00:01:14 --> 00:01:17

is obviously we have to live with to exist, we have to continue

00:01:17 --> 00:01:21

life. And then the guilt, you know, of what we refer to often

00:01:21 --> 00:01:26

as, like survivor's guilt, or just being so far removed from a place

00:01:26 --> 00:01:30

where you see people who are suffering, beyond words, we

00:01:30 --> 00:01:36

definitely are juggling a lot of emotions. And so I really felt so

00:01:36 --> 00:01:39

like, I don't know what what I would say other than, you know,

00:01:39 --> 00:01:44

saying the best of words, which is making dua and just calling upon a

00:01:44 --> 00:01:48

lot for our brothers and sisters not really is the best thing that

00:01:48 --> 00:01:48

we can do.

00:01:49 --> 00:01:52

We can obviously be there, no matter how much we wish we could

00:01:52 --> 00:01:56

write, we can't physically be there. But the best thing that we

00:01:56 --> 00:01:57

can do is,

00:01:59 --> 00:02:03

is to offer our device. And so that's, you know what I'm what I'm

00:02:03 --> 00:02:07

hoping to do at Shala, in the form of, you know, our vehicle that we

00:02:07 --> 00:02:10

just did mail last month and accept it. I apologize. I'm just

00:02:10 --> 00:02:13

trying to get all this situated here. And it's not working for me.

00:02:13 --> 00:02:14

Yes.

00:02:16 --> 00:02:21

Oh, did you? Sure it should be foundations of the spiritual path.

00:02:21 --> 00:02:24

But I can also send it to you once I get all of this. I'm sorry, I'm

00:02:24 --> 00:02:28

distracted here. But what I was saying is that Insha Allah, the

00:02:28 --> 00:02:33

best thing I think we can do, is to make dua for

00:02:34 --> 00:02:36

continuous Doha. I mean, that's not obviously the only thing we

00:02:36 --> 00:02:40

can do, we can do much more than that. But in this space, my hope

00:02:40 --> 00:02:43

is that everything we do here that I was proud of, here's our please,

00:02:43 --> 00:02:49

here's our calls, our hearts are broken, and that he accepts our

00:02:49 --> 00:02:54

plea, to bring relief and to prevent catastrophic, catastrophic

00:02:55 --> 00:02:58

events from unfolding because every day it seems like we're just

00:02:58 --> 00:03:02

at the edge of our seat waiting for what's next. So may Allah

00:03:02 --> 00:03:04

subhanaw, taala. Bring

00:03:05 --> 00:03:09

bring peace to the to our brothers and sisters. And

00:03:10 --> 00:03:13

Inshallah, and like I said, that's what we can do. And that's what we

00:03:13 --> 00:03:18

hope to do here. But we're going to discuss a text. And that's

00:03:18 --> 00:03:22

really what I wanted to share with, with you all here. Did you

00:03:22 --> 00:03:25

send it to me? I got it. Okay.

00:03:27 --> 00:03:32

So for those who have iPhones, Mary is going to airdrop a PDF.

00:03:33 --> 00:03:37

And that PDF is the text that we started last month when we

00:03:37 --> 00:03:42

officially started our Hatha class here. And it's a an incredible

00:03:42 --> 00:03:48

text that I've handed I've been very blessed to read multiple

00:03:48 --> 00:03:52

times. And each time I feel like I get so much from it. But it's

00:03:52 --> 00:03:55

called the foundations of the spiritual path. And

00:03:56 --> 00:03:59

you can certainly find it

00:04:00 --> 00:04:03

if you if you do a Google, but it'll take a little bit of time,

00:04:03 --> 00:04:07

you just have to put in foundations of the spiritual path

00:04:07 --> 00:04:12

and then the word, send Allah, that's the website that it's

00:04:12 --> 00:04:15

currently on. It's a PDF, it's free for everybody. Everybody can

00:04:15 --> 00:04:19

read it. But we started this last month. And you know, the reason

00:04:19 --> 00:04:23

why we started this text is because we're all seekers, right?

00:04:23 --> 00:04:24

Every one of us is here,

00:04:26 --> 00:04:31

here or in the virtual space. Inshallah, we're believers. And we

00:04:31 --> 00:04:36

want to be close to Allah subhanaw taala. But the path is sometimes

00:04:36 --> 00:04:39

confusing, or there's so many paths. So you're like, where do I

00:04:39 --> 00:04:42

go? Where do I start? So I explained last time that what I

00:04:42 --> 00:04:45

love about this text is it quite literally, as the title suggests,

00:04:46 --> 00:04:51

is giving us the roadmap of how a person who's really sincere about

00:04:52 --> 00:04:55

being a practitioner of their faith and a believer, a Muslim,

00:04:55 --> 00:04:59

should you know, how they should do this. What are the preliminary

00:04:59 --> 00:05:00

steps

00:05:00 --> 00:05:06

How does one begin to even embark on this journey? And so the way

00:05:06 --> 00:05:09

that it's structured is a really wonderful text because to the

00:05:09 --> 00:05:14

admins, O'Rourke, he's a, I mean, a master of so many sciences, but

00:05:14 --> 00:05:18

he's a deep psychologist, he understands the human being and he

00:05:18 --> 00:05:24

knows that we, you know, we work well when we have the goal in

00:05:24 --> 00:05:29

mind. So he actually starts his treatise here with the five

00:05:29 --> 00:05:34

foundations first, like, this is what you need to even be on the

00:05:34 --> 00:05:39

spiritual path. So he lays that out, and then the rest mashallah,

00:05:39 --> 00:05:44

so how'd it go? Such an honor, consider that wife sister is

00:05:44 --> 00:05:47

coming from Sacramento, which always is just so so humbling to

00:05:47 --> 00:05:48

me, Mashallah.

00:05:51 --> 00:05:52

So he lays these

00:05:54 --> 00:05:59

five, have foundations first. And then the rest of the text is the

00:05:59 --> 00:06:03

building block, or the building are the building blocks to get to

00:06:03 --> 00:06:07

the five. So I find it just fascinating how he did it. So we

00:06:07 --> 00:06:09

covered and I'm just going to summarize because Michelle,

00:06:09 --> 00:06:12

there's a lot of new people here. And then we'll continue the

00:06:12 --> 00:06:16

reading. But he says here, if anyone is asked about the

00:06:16 --> 00:06:22

foundation of his path, he should reply, the foundation of our path,

00:06:22 --> 00:06:28

our five, first Dupois mindfulness of Allah subhanaw taala, privately

00:06:29 --> 00:06:30

and publicly.

00:06:31 --> 00:06:34

And I'm gonna go quickly over each of them, and then we'll come back

00:06:34 --> 00:06:38

and review. The second is adherence to the Sunnah in word

00:06:38 --> 00:06:43

and deed, then indifference to whether others accept or reject

00:06:43 --> 00:06:48

one contentment with Allah in times of both hardship and ease,

00:06:48 --> 00:06:51

and turning to Allah subhanaw taala, and prosperity and

00:06:52 --> 00:06:56

adversity. So essentially, if you even want to be on the spiritual

00:06:56 --> 00:07:00

path, these are the five goals, to be on the path. And then of

00:07:00 --> 00:07:04

course, it's the building of that. That is, you know, the, the

00:07:04 --> 00:07:07

objective of every believer is that we continue to grow, we

00:07:07 --> 00:07:10

continue to enhance our understanding, our knowledge, our

00:07:10 --> 00:07:15

practice, but this is the this is it. So Taqwa mindfulness of Allah,

00:07:15 --> 00:07:20

privately and publicly, this is, again, really important to think

00:07:20 --> 00:07:22

about because Stockwell we hear this word a lot is it's often

00:07:22 --> 00:07:26

obviously it's an important term, it's essential to our faith. But

00:07:26 --> 00:07:30

the disclaimer that he puts here is also very interesting, because

00:07:30 --> 00:07:36

it's suggesting again, that we are prone to maybe either or that we

00:07:36 --> 00:07:41

may be privately we have Taqwa. Right. And then publicly, we may

00:07:41 --> 00:07:46

have cowardice. And there are Muslims who don't want to show

00:07:46 --> 00:07:50

that they're Muslim outside, you know, so they're, they're devoted

00:07:50 --> 00:07:55

inside. But then when they are in public, maybe they have other

00:07:55 --> 00:07:58

issues going on, maybe there is a fear or something else, you know,

00:07:58 --> 00:08:01

that's at play. So they may behave differently, completely

00:08:01 --> 00:08:04

differently. There are people unfortunately, who that is true,

00:08:04 --> 00:08:09

they will have different, you know, masks or just they behave

00:08:09 --> 00:08:11

differently outwardly. And inwardly, that could be or the

00:08:11 --> 00:08:16

opposite, where, and this would be even worse, right? That publicly

00:08:16 --> 00:08:19

you put on this self righteousness, and you act very,

00:08:21 --> 00:08:24

you know, as though you are very devoted, and you're very, you

00:08:24 --> 00:08:27

know, you're very righteous in your actions. But then privately,

00:08:27 --> 00:08:31

you're a total different person. You don't pray, you maybe even eat

00:08:31 --> 00:08:34

and drink haram, you speak, you know, a foul things, you're

00:08:34 --> 00:08:37

looking at foul things, but then in public spaces, you're just an

00:08:37 --> 00:08:42

angel. Right? So the fact that he put both is dealing with both

00:08:42 --> 00:08:46

groups, right? That almost private sees you, you can't hide from him.

00:08:46 --> 00:08:50

So you better make sure that you're consistently, someone who

00:08:50 --> 00:08:55

has this quality of Taqwa that it doesn't work with either or, or

00:08:55 --> 00:08:58

one or the other. But both have to be maintained. So that's the first

00:08:58 --> 00:09:01

one and then adherence to the Sunnah. And word indeed, is also

00:09:01 --> 00:09:05

important because it goes to the same idea of people who may

00:09:05 --> 00:09:11

understand or read, you know, the practices of the prophesies to

00:09:11 --> 00:09:15

them. I mean, we have people whose entire, you know, childhood or

00:09:15 --> 00:09:19

upbringing may have been surrounded by grandparents or, or

00:09:19 --> 00:09:22

aunts, and uncles or teachers, you know, in the Sunday school, so

00:09:22 --> 00:09:26

they were always learning, right? And they may know, they're, I

00:09:26 --> 00:09:29

know, people who have a lot of things memorized because they were

00:09:29 --> 00:09:34

in those environments, but they don't act on it. Right? And so the

00:09:34 --> 00:09:39

consistency of if you're going to really be a person who follows the

00:09:39 --> 00:09:42

path of the prophesize to them, that it's not lip service, right?

00:09:43 --> 00:09:46

But you're actually it's manifesting in your actions you

00:09:46 --> 00:09:51

actually show in your actions that you really, because we can of

00:09:51 --> 00:09:54

course admire him he is the praised one, his name, he's

00:09:54 --> 00:09:58

praised so we can certainly be in awe of him, his character, all of

00:09:58 --> 00:09:59

his virtues all

00:10:00 --> 00:10:03

Have those traits. But if we're not, if that's not translating to

00:10:03 --> 00:10:08

actions that we, you know, we do ourselves, then there's something

00:10:08 --> 00:10:12

missing, right? So it has to be both. And then he says,

00:10:12 --> 00:10:16

indifference to whether others accept or reject when this is a

00:10:16 --> 00:10:21

really big one, because we're in the midst of I mean, I don't know

00:10:21 --> 00:10:26

it, I saw reports from care earlier that the volume of calls

00:10:26 --> 00:10:29

they're getting, you know, from people who have experienced some

00:10:29 --> 00:10:33

really terrible things, you know, we're seeing a rise in sentiments

00:10:33 --> 00:10:37

that are all too familiar, right? For those of us who were alive

00:10:37 --> 00:10:41

after 911, and have seen the trajectory of just the landscape

00:10:41 --> 00:10:45

politically for Muslims in this country, and in the West, it has

00:10:45 --> 00:10:49

not been very good. And unfortunately, just when you think

00:10:49 --> 00:10:53

maybe we're growing as a country in a world favorably, and maybe

00:10:53 --> 00:10:56

we're making some inroads with more and more elected officials

00:10:56 --> 00:11:00

and more political activism, we actually find that nope, it took

00:11:00 --> 00:11:02

one you know, this, this

00:11:03 --> 00:11:08

unfortunate tragedy to unfold to see again, we're going over the

00:11:08 --> 00:11:11

five foundations of the spiritual path by see the headstone route.

00:11:11 --> 00:11:14

So he mentioned taqwa, mindfulness, of almost patter

00:11:14 --> 00:11:18

privately and publicly adherence to the Sunnah inward indeed, and

00:11:18 --> 00:11:22

then the third point, indifference to whether others accept or reject

00:11:22 --> 00:11:26

one. So this is really a big one, because we live in a time where we

00:11:26 --> 00:11:29

are worried we are concerned, either individually or

00:11:29 --> 00:11:34

collectively about the image right of, of how people see us. And so

00:11:35 --> 00:11:39

when you are a person who is on the hammock on the right, then the

00:11:39 --> 00:11:44

consideration is always ALLAH SubhanA, WA, tada, that that is

00:11:44 --> 00:11:49

the only one or he is the only one that we are concerned about in

00:11:49 --> 00:11:54

terms of being accepted, or rejected. And we don't worry Other

00:11:54 --> 00:11:58

than that, because if you, if you think about it, it's, you know,

00:11:58 --> 00:12:02

again, if you make your life's mission to gain the result of

00:12:02 --> 00:12:05

Allah subhanaw taala, then there's nothing to worry about. But when

00:12:05 --> 00:12:08

you're trying to please this group, or that group, you find,

00:12:08 --> 00:12:12

and I'm sure we've all experienced this in our own little, you know,

00:12:12 --> 00:12:15

worlds, that there is no way that you can make everybody happy, you

00:12:15 --> 00:12:20

will always find people who will have something to say who will,

00:12:20 --> 00:12:23

you know, complain, and, and so human beings, it's just, it's

00:12:23 --> 00:12:27

futile, it's futile to try to please people, but redirecting

00:12:27 --> 00:12:31

your heart and your, your mission to seeking the pleasure of Allah

00:12:31 --> 00:12:34

Subhana Allah is, is really important. And then you know, also

00:12:34 --> 00:12:37

not being worried if you're left out, you know, there's a lot of

00:12:37 --> 00:12:41

people who are very concerned about not just being accepted, but

00:12:41 --> 00:12:46

also worried about being left out of certain circles. And these are

00:12:46 --> 00:12:50

all things that we as believers have to really again, think about,

00:12:51 --> 00:12:54

at the end of the day, it doesn't matter as long as we are with us,

00:12:54 --> 00:12:57

by the end, the proof of that is look at the prophets, right? How

00:12:57 --> 00:13:01

many of them were completely ostracize. And so they their

00:13:01 --> 00:13:05

stories are meant for us to see that, even if you're up against

00:13:06 --> 00:13:10

hundreds or 1000s, or a few handful, because 124,000 prophets,

00:13:10 --> 00:13:13

right, we don't have all of their stories, but we can kind of

00:13:13 --> 00:13:19

imagine that a lot of them likely faced, you know, a backlash were

00:13:19 --> 00:13:22

pushed out, you know, most of them, if not all of them,

00:13:22 --> 00:13:26

experienced that to a certain degree. So but where were they

00:13:26 --> 00:13:31

where was their focus, their focus was entirely on Allah, Allah. And

00:13:31 --> 00:13:35

then, in all of their cases, they had Sophia, to some degree, right?

00:13:36 --> 00:13:38

To some degree, they had tofu, I mean, they have to have fake what

00:13:38 --> 00:13:43

Allah but even with on their mission, so it's just futile to

00:13:43 --> 00:13:46

worry about being accepted or rejected. And then contentment

00:13:46 --> 00:13:49

with Allah in times of both hardship and ease, this is a big

00:13:49 --> 00:13:52

one, because it's relatable again, to everything we're going through

00:13:52 --> 00:13:56

right now there. And I know and I know, other, you know, friends of

00:13:56 --> 00:14:00

mine who are also in these roles, you know, they teach or they have

00:14:00 --> 00:14:04

some connection with the community. They're dealing with

00:14:04 --> 00:14:07

people who are struggling in their faith, because of everything

00:14:07 --> 00:14:10

that's happening, right. It's like, how, how can this happen?

00:14:10 --> 00:14:13

And these are questions that have been posed from the beginning of

00:14:13 --> 00:14:17

time human beings have grappled with evil and the problem of evil.

00:14:17 --> 00:14:22

And so these are nothing new. But when we're witnessing at such and

00:14:22 --> 00:14:27

such volume, and it's relentless, it can take a toll right on the on

00:14:27 --> 00:14:31

the heart. And this is where, of course, the bliss, you know, comes

00:14:31 --> 00:14:34

into the picture as well, because we're vulnerable, right? We're

00:14:34 --> 00:14:37

trying to make sense of things that don't make any sense to us.

00:14:37 --> 00:14:40

And it's too much it's overwhelming. You know, our fitrah

00:14:40 --> 00:14:44

is, we were repelled by things like this, you know, to see evil,

00:14:45 --> 00:14:50

that even the most, you know, secular atheist person who has no

00:14:50 --> 00:14:54

concept of, you know, objective morality or God or are these

00:14:54 --> 00:14:58

things that we hold true in our faith? They can objectively look

00:14:58 --> 00:14:59

at what's going on and say this is

00:15:00 --> 00:15:04

As a district, this is pure evil, like this is something that's non,

00:15:04 --> 00:15:08

you know, inhumane on every level. So it's because we're created in

00:15:08 --> 00:15:13

fitrah, to be repelled by such things. So when we're seeing it at

00:15:13 --> 00:15:20

such a high level, it's going to really be a means by which he

00:15:20 --> 00:15:25

believes will come and try to distort our understanding. Right?

00:15:25 --> 00:15:27

And this is what he does very well. He starts to make us

00:15:27 --> 00:15:31

question things, you know, and even, then, that's why we have to

00:15:31 --> 00:15:36

be very careful that even if things are hard, which they will

00:15:36 --> 00:15:41

be dunya is not easy. And that's, that, to me, that's honestly one

00:15:41 --> 00:15:41

of the

00:15:43 --> 00:15:46

one of the points of our faith that I feel like is such a proof

00:15:46 --> 00:15:49

of its truth is that Allah subhanaw taala has, there's no

00:15:49 --> 00:15:54

sugarcoating at all, it's all very clear, you're going to be tested,

00:15:55 --> 00:15:57

all of us, you're going to see pain, you're going to see

00:15:57 --> 00:16:00

suffering, you're going to see evil, you're going to see

00:16:00 --> 00:16:04

oppression, you're going to lose things, lose people that you love

00:16:04 --> 00:16:07

and care about, and it's not going to make any sense to you. But

00:16:09 --> 00:16:15

do you believe that God in His wisdom and knowledge, that, that

00:16:15 --> 00:16:19

he that it all, it does make sense, we just don't have you

00:16:19 --> 00:16:24

know, the, like the the story of Rumi, which is the aunt and the

00:16:24 --> 00:16:26

carpet, you know, the aunt

00:16:27 --> 00:16:31

is moving about the carpet has no idea. Because it sees colors and

00:16:31 --> 00:16:38

patterns, it cannot perceive the intricacy of the carpet is just

00:16:38 --> 00:16:43

looks all, you know, scattered. But the bird's eye view or a view

00:16:43 --> 00:16:47

above, can see that this is a beaut beautiful pattern laid out.

00:16:47 --> 00:16:52

And that's really essential, you know, formula of understanding

00:16:52 --> 00:16:55

dunya is that it all in the knowledge of God makes perfect

00:16:55 --> 00:16:58

sense, even if it doesn't make sense to you and me. And if you're

00:16:58 --> 00:17:03

patient, and if you have trust in your Lord, then you will know that

00:17:03 --> 00:17:08

there will come a day where the debts will fall due, justice will

00:17:08 --> 00:17:12

be given all the questions that you have that are puzzling you

00:17:12 --> 00:17:18

will be answered. All that's required of you is patience. Can

00:17:18 --> 00:17:22

you be patient this is what almost father's putting before the human

00:17:22 --> 00:17:28

being. And in that patients, can you also maintain your good

00:17:28 --> 00:17:33

opinion of God? Right? Because you have to. I mean, if you're

00:17:33 --> 00:17:38

impatient, but then you still allow your heart to waver. You

00:17:38 --> 00:17:41

have to deal with that what's going on? Do I do not know who

00:17:41 --> 00:17:45

your Lord is? Right? All the stories that he's revealed to you

00:17:45 --> 00:17:49

in the Quran, all the Hadith, all the stories that are meant to give

00:17:49 --> 00:17:54

you a concrete, right understanding of your Creator, do

00:17:54 --> 00:17:57

you waver now, just because something disturbs you just

00:17:57 --> 00:18:02

because something doesn't go your way? Or do you understand that

00:18:02 --> 00:18:06

redock contentment with ALLAH SubhanA data, whether you're going

00:18:06 --> 00:18:10

through ease or hardship is required of you, as a believer,

00:18:10 --> 00:18:14

because you are, you're in submission, you understand who he

00:18:14 --> 00:18:17

is. And you, you know, and the thing is, I again, I find it

00:18:17 --> 00:18:22

interesting that we can have this mentality for people in our lives.

00:18:22 --> 00:18:25

I guarantee you if we did a survey, you know,

00:18:26 --> 00:18:27

however,

00:18:29 --> 00:18:33

you know, they'd the survey was, but if we did a survey and we

00:18:33 --> 00:18:38

asked a lot of people if they had someone in their life that they

00:18:38 --> 00:18:43

trusted 1,000% You know, many people would say yes, right? How

00:18:43 --> 00:18:46

about you guys? Do you have someone in your life that you feel

00:18:46 --> 00:18:50

you're so convinced that they would take a bullet for you that

00:18:50 --> 00:18:54

they would do anything for you no questions even asked like I said,

00:18:54 --> 00:18:57

novel bucket to the prophesy. So Right. We know how beautiful their

00:18:57 --> 00:19:00

relationship was. Do you have someone in your life that you feel

00:19:00 --> 00:19:05

like Yeah, I think they would take a hit for me without even any

00:19:05 --> 00:19:09

explanation. Do anybody? Yeah.

00:19:11 --> 00:19:15

Yeah, there you go. Right. siblings, spouses, parents

00:19:15 --> 00:19:18

mothers, right? How many of us believe wholeheartedly that our

00:19:18 --> 00:19:22

mother because inshallah she's a good she is or if she's passed on?

00:19:23 --> 00:19:26

A lot, haha, my mother, for example, that she would have done

00:19:26 --> 00:19:32

anything for us. Inshallah, we all have parents or family members or

00:19:32 --> 00:19:34

loved ones or friends, even their friends who are like against the

00:19:34 --> 00:19:39

number bucket in the province of Sweden. So we can conceive a

00:19:39 --> 00:19:45

loyalty with human beings, you know, like that, like this strong,

00:19:45 --> 00:19:51

unshakable bond. But when it comes to all those Pantha we allow those

00:19:51 --> 00:19:53

thoughts to sometimes get in and that's where you have to take your

00:19:53 --> 00:19:57

own neffs to task like safiullah What am I talking about? This is

00:19:58 --> 00:19:59

my Creator. He literally brought me into this

00:20:00 --> 00:20:02

Since out of nothing, I didn't have to be here. And then he gave

00:20:02 --> 00:20:04

me this, this and this and this and you start going through that

00:20:04 --> 00:20:08

process and you realize that those were just, it's shaitan. He's the

00:20:08 --> 00:20:13

one who planted those seeds. But this is important that we have to

00:20:14 --> 00:20:18

really just the same way that you would when things are going easy

00:20:18 --> 00:20:21

for you. That you have contentment with Allah, it's the same when

00:20:21 --> 00:20:25

something goes hard, which is the brother that I mentioned in the

00:20:25 --> 00:20:30

beginning, I mean, I was moved to tears because you see him like

00:20:30 --> 00:20:33

he's so he loves Allah, no matter what his children were just taking

00:20:33 --> 00:20:36

two of them. I can't even imagine I have two sons, I cannot imagine

00:20:36 --> 00:20:40

May Allah protect all of us from ever having to suffer such a

00:20:40 --> 00:20:45

tremendous loss? But to see this man speak with so much confidence

00:20:45 --> 00:20:49

in Allah was like, yes, that's so beautiful. What a man does he but

00:20:49 --> 00:20:54

guess what all of us are capable of that. If we have an intimate

00:20:54 --> 00:20:58

knowledge of Allah subhanaw taala if we really are doing exactly

00:20:58 --> 00:21:03

what we're prescribed to do, you know, read His words, call on Him.

00:21:03 --> 00:21:09

He will want as he says, right? Walk toward me, I will run toward

00:21:09 --> 00:21:14

you reach your hand out to me, I'll reach my arm out to you. This

00:21:14 --> 00:21:19

is Allah's words. So we all have access to behind law, but it's on

00:21:19 --> 00:21:23

us to challenge those negative thoughts. And to make sure that

00:21:23 --> 00:21:28

our loyalty to him is pure. It's real. So that's a fourth

00:21:28 --> 00:21:33

Foundation. The fifth one is where it's now action. Right? That the

00:21:33 --> 00:21:37

the fourth is like your state, that you're you have this

00:21:37 --> 00:21:42

perpetual state of redraw. The fifth one is that when you whether

00:21:42 --> 00:21:46

you're in prosperity or adversity, that you are consistently turning

00:21:46 --> 00:21:50

to a law that you don't forget him because things when the you know,

00:21:50 --> 00:21:54

things get good for some people, they just, they move on. It's like

00:21:54 --> 00:21:59

God is only there needed all the biller, when I'm falling apart.

00:21:59 --> 00:22:02

That's the only time I turned to God. But as soon as I get

00:22:02 --> 00:22:05

everything I want, I'm just coasting. I'm loving life. And

00:22:05 --> 00:22:09

then oh, yeah, I forgot to pray a while it's okay. It's not for

00:22:09 --> 00:22:14

Allah. So we can't justify that we have to be constantly turning to

00:22:14 --> 00:22:18

Allah subhanaw That no matter what, and never, never getting to

00:22:18 --> 00:22:22

safe, right, because that's the delusion of dunya. Is that and I

00:22:22 --> 00:22:28

think that's probably why those in the West are having more of a

00:22:28 --> 00:22:33

difficulty than people in Gaza right now. There are people in

00:22:33 --> 00:22:36

Gaza, of course, they're overwhelmed. It's horrible. It's

00:22:36 --> 00:22:40

logistically a nightmare. No food, no drink. But their Eman is not

00:22:40 --> 00:22:44

been destabilized? That's why they can still call it Allah. Why is it

00:22:44 --> 00:22:48

that we're here in the west, so far removed from all of that, but

00:22:48 --> 00:22:52

we are suffering these faith crises and asking all these odd

00:22:52 --> 00:22:58

questions about Allah. Why this? Why that? Why, because this last

00:22:58 --> 00:23:02

point, we get, we got to safe, right, or we fell into this false

00:23:02 --> 00:23:06

sense of security, because we're over here in our cushion lives.

00:23:07 --> 00:23:10

And this is the delusion of dunya. So what happens is you just stop

00:23:10 --> 00:23:16

thinking about your own inevitable mortality. Right? Death becomes

00:23:17 --> 00:23:22

this distancing. But when you're living in conflict areas, you're

00:23:22 --> 00:23:27

living, you know, where you don't, you're, your water is rationed.

00:23:27 --> 00:23:32

Like, I traveled to parts of the Muslim world where the first time

00:23:32 --> 00:23:34

I ever went to a Muslim country, the water was rationed. And I was

00:23:34 --> 00:23:38

shocked. Because I didn't understand that concept.

00:23:38 --> 00:23:41

Obviously, we just turn on the tap, and we get whatever we want.

00:23:42 --> 00:23:45

But they every week, I was staying with a family, Mashallah. And they

00:23:46 --> 00:23:50

had these tanks of water that they were, they had to preserve for the

00:23:50 --> 00:23:54

whole week until the government, you know, restored their water.

00:23:54 --> 00:23:57

And so Showers. Showers were

00:23:59 --> 00:24:03

like drops, it was it was drops of water. And it was painful for a

00:24:03 --> 00:24:06

westerner who was like, What is this, but it's upon Allah had to

00:24:06 --> 00:24:11

do it. And I trust me appreciate showers so much more, because

00:24:11 --> 00:24:13

experiencing that in the summer,

00:24:14 --> 00:24:20

was life changing. So we're just too comfortable in our security.

00:24:20 --> 00:24:23

And what happens when you're too comfortable you forget,

00:24:24 --> 00:24:27

right? That the Hadith where the prophet has been said, a person

00:24:28 --> 00:24:30

will wake up in the morning and they can, you know, lose their

00:24:30 --> 00:24:35

faith by the evening, or be in the evening and they could lose their

00:24:35 --> 00:24:38

faith in the morning. This is a very real reality. So for a lot.

00:24:39 --> 00:24:40

That's how

00:24:41 --> 00:24:46

we That's how much awareness, acute awareness and mindfulness we

00:24:46 --> 00:24:48

have to have every day.

00:24:49 --> 00:24:54

You know, about the potential of of what could happen to us at any

00:24:54 --> 00:24:57

given moment. Whether it's a spiritual, you know, calamity,

00:24:57 --> 00:24:59

which is the worst of all, like dunya

00:25:00 --> 00:25:04

material calamities are nothing, you lose your car, your phone,

00:25:04 --> 00:25:08

these are nothing the material things, but the greatest calamity

00:25:08 --> 00:25:13

is to lose your faith. So this is where that constant sense of like,

00:25:13 --> 00:25:18

gratitude will kick in, if you're practicing exactly, you know, all

00:25:18 --> 00:25:22

five of these, but especially this last one, which is you're in,

00:25:22 --> 00:25:24

you're turning to Allah always you're just in constant

00:25:25 --> 00:25:28

remembrance constant, they could constant gratitude. And you're

00:25:28 --> 00:25:32

aware that he could, at any given moment, pluck you out of this

00:25:32 --> 00:25:38

thing. Yeah. And not one of us have a guarantee. And that that,

00:25:38 --> 00:25:42

again, hyper vigilance about your about these things is what makes

00:25:42 --> 00:25:47

you continuously again, turn. So these are the five. And it's so

00:25:47 --> 00:25:50

powerful. I mean, again, you could just spend so much time talking

00:25:50 --> 00:25:53

about these five. But he goes on to say, and now he's kind of

00:25:53 --> 00:25:58

breaking it down. He get he says, the realization of mindfulness of

00:25:58 --> 00:26:02

Allah is through scrupulousness and uprightness. So if you want to

00:26:02 --> 00:26:06

practice true mindfulness of all of us find a Taqwa. Then you have

00:26:06 --> 00:26:11

to hold yourself accountable, not to, you know, break the rules, or

00:26:11 --> 00:26:14

bend the rules or kind of get sloppy, you know, with your

00:26:14 --> 00:26:18

practice of faith. scrupulousness is being attentive, you know, to

00:26:18 --> 00:26:21

what you do. And it's interesting again, because in the worldly

00:26:21 --> 00:26:24

sense, for work, none of us even for school, whether you're a

00:26:24 --> 00:26:29

student or you work, we don't turn in sloppy work, because we know

00:26:29 --> 00:26:33

there's consequences, right? We're gonna get reprimanded, we're

00:26:33 --> 00:26:36

gonna, you know, have a, something's going to happen that

00:26:36 --> 00:26:40

we don't want to avoid. So are mentally we know that we have to

00:26:40 --> 00:26:45

do a good job. But interesting, again, when it comes to our faith

00:26:45 --> 00:26:48

practice, we can get sloppy. And this is where you have to be

00:26:48 --> 00:26:51

mindful of yourself. So what does that look like practically? And

00:26:51 --> 00:26:53

I'll give you an example. It's happened to me several times

00:26:53 --> 00:26:58

SubhanAllah. We get up to pray. And then you forget what record

00:26:58 --> 00:27:02

you're on. Right? I know, I'm not the only one brain is distracted,

00:27:02 --> 00:27:06

constantly ADHD, everything we haven't. So I'm like, Y'all I

00:27:06 --> 00:27:09

would record Am I on and then of course, we could do such this. So,

00:27:10 --> 00:27:13

which is the point of forgetfulness, you can do all of

00:27:13 --> 00:27:17

that. But sometimes I get so upset with myself, and I'm just sharing

00:27:17 --> 00:27:19

like, my own way of trying to implement this, I get so

00:27:19 --> 00:27:24

frustrated with myself. And I'm ashamed. That almost kind of asks

00:27:24 --> 00:27:28

me, so have such little time. Right? That I don't even remember

00:27:28 --> 00:27:33

what our chi was on or what sort I just read, where it was my brain

00:27:33 --> 00:27:35

would what happened when memory came in, because you get a random

00:27:35 --> 00:27:39

thought, that I feel disgusted. And then I say, I'm doing my whole

00:27:39 --> 00:27:43

prayer all over again. So that's like, just one example of trying

00:27:43 --> 00:27:46

to hold yourself to a higher standard, because it's not good

00:27:46 --> 00:27:50

enough to just submit, you know, the bar is so low, here's my bare

00:27:50 --> 00:27:55

minimum, first draft, you know, if you have time, right, let's say

00:27:55 --> 00:27:58

you're home, and you're in your pajamas, and you're comfortable,

00:27:58 --> 00:28:03

what is preventing you from saying that prayer was so poorly done, it

00:28:03 --> 00:28:07

requires a do over, it's your knifes, because then I was like,

00:28:07 --> 00:28:11

Well, I just put in all that energy. And, and again, like, I

00:28:11 --> 00:28:15

like to have like conversations where I'm challenging my own

00:28:15 --> 00:28:19

knifes because it is a polarized kind of, you know, conflict,

00:28:19 --> 00:28:22

internal conflict we all go through. So the knots will pose

00:28:22 --> 00:28:26

all of these arguments, right? That justify its justifications,

00:28:27 --> 00:28:30

but we have to be well versed enough within ourselves to counter

00:28:30 --> 00:28:35

those arguments. So, you know, if you if you give into the idea that

00:28:35 --> 00:28:41

I'm so tired, you know, my body so tired, then I like to challenge

00:28:41 --> 00:28:44

and say, You know what, that's such a lie. Because right now, if

00:28:44 --> 00:28:50

like, my sisters or close friends came to the door, you know, they

00:28:50 --> 00:28:53

knocked on the door, I said, Hey, let's go out, you know, let's go

00:28:53 --> 00:28:54

to them. All.

00:28:55 --> 00:29:00

Right, well, let's go for a walk. We'd be all out the door. So where

00:29:00 --> 00:29:05

did the fatigue go? Right? It's the knifes because in the moment

00:29:05 --> 00:29:09

that he you know that you're about to do something good. He it'll

00:29:09 --> 00:29:12

interject with this ridiculous idea. And then we fall for it. And

00:29:12 --> 00:29:15

then we just move on, and we carry on, and we don't think twice. So

00:29:15 --> 00:29:18

being scrupulous is saying no, it's not good enough, I have to do

00:29:18 --> 00:29:18

better.

00:29:20 --> 00:29:22

And this can be applied to everything the food that we eat,

00:29:23 --> 00:29:27

when we're you know, interacting with the opposite * is really

00:29:27 --> 00:29:30

important, all of us have to take ourselves to account, you know,

00:29:30 --> 00:29:35

you you have to know yourself that there's requirements of you know,

00:29:35 --> 00:29:39

gender interactions, how am I interacting, am I trying to, you

00:29:39 --> 00:29:43

know, look a certain way, you know, am I trying to be perceived

00:29:44 --> 00:29:47

a certain way, and everybody has to figure that out, you know, for

00:29:47 --> 00:29:51

themselves from the men and the women, because these are, you

00:29:51 --> 00:29:53

know, issues that we all deal with. But like all of this is just

00:29:53 --> 00:29:59

being very, very again, having Taqwa of God, right. And then you

00:30:00 --> 00:30:04

To the other point here, he says, the realization of adherence to

00:30:04 --> 00:30:07

the Sunnah is through caution and excellent character. So again,

00:30:07 --> 00:30:12

just being careful, practicing, you know, the adab of the prophesy

00:30:12 --> 00:30:15

certain, like the promises that I'm had certain, you know, ways

00:30:15 --> 00:30:19

that that he would treat people like today we read a hadith. In

00:30:19 --> 00:30:22

another class I did where it said that if two people are sitting,

00:30:23 --> 00:30:28

don't go and sit between them was such a beautiful and simple, you

00:30:28 --> 00:30:31

know, social etiquette that a lot of people don't even do.

00:30:32 --> 00:30:35

You know, because if you see, for example, I was talking about this

00:30:35 --> 00:30:38

in the class, but I think women tend to, I think, have this issue

00:30:38 --> 00:30:42

more because we are physically more inclined to like, you know,

00:30:42 --> 00:30:46

we don't mind kind of, you know, that proximity, whereas men are a

00:30:46 --> 00:30:50

little bit more guarded around physical, you know, closeness. So

00:30:50 --> 00:30:55

anyway, but think about why that hadith was relayed to us because

00:30:55 --> 00:31:00

the process was teaching us that when you see people in a private

00:31:00 --> 00:31:04

conversation to people, the Hadith specifically was don't go sit

00:31:04 --> 00:31:08

between them unless they invite you. Why? Because they could be

00:31:08 --> 00:31:11

having a very private, intimate conversation about something very

00:31:11 --> 00:31:15

important. And just because you're overly excitable, and you're like,

00:31:15 --> 00:31:19

happy to see them, you should know that you know, what, the way

00:31:19 --> 00:31:22

they're sitting, this is where I just read the room. That could be

00:31:22 --> 00:31:25

a private conversation, and I'll wait to respectfully be invited.

00:31:25 --> 00:31:29

And until then I'm going to practice some restraint and just

00:31:29 --> 00:31:32

keep myself busy. Simple etiquette, right? But why did he

00:31:32 --> 00:31:36

teach us that is because these are the ways that we preserve the

00:31:36 --> 00:31:40

bonds you know, of in our communities, and our families and

00:31:40 --> 00:31:44

our relationships. So just being cautious and always having

00:31:44 --> 00:31:47

excellent character, we don't always have to say what we what we

00:31:47 --> 00:31:50

think. I mean, I know it's hard for some people, because we live

00:31:50 --> 00:31:54

in a culture that celebrates this forthrightness. And if you think

00:31:54 --> 00:31:58

get flaunted, and all this nonsense, that's not our way,

00:31:58 --> 00:32:01

there's many times where you should actually do the very

00:32:01 --> 00:32:04

opposite. Because what you are thinking is foul what you're

00:32:04 --> 00:32:08

thinking is inappropriate, what you're thinking could potentially

00:32:08 --> 00:32:12

cause issues for other people. So it's actually better to not say

00:32:12 --> 00:32:17

it, right. But this is where looking at the, you know, reading

00:32:17 --> 00:32:21

the seed of the process, and but also reading, you know, the Shema

00:32:21 --> 00:32:26

and for example, right, the Shamal is the physical descriptions of

00:32:26 --> 00:32:30

the process, and but also many of his character traits, how the E

00:32:30 --> 00:32:33

adds a Shiva is another extraordinary text that we have in

00:32:33 --> 00:32:38

English, that gives you insight into how the processing did

00:32:38 --> 00:32:42

everything from the way he walked, the way he sat, the way he ate, to

00:32:42 --> 00:32:45

the way he drank, the way he moved and talked to people of all

00:32:45 --> 00:32:50

backgrounds. So just learning those edit kids will make you a

00:32:50 --> 00:32:54

better, more refined human being. And that's how you then stay

00:32:54 --> 00:32:59

consistent. And what you do is you adopt a new way of being, because

00:32:59 --> 00:33:03

all of us from our respective cultures, our families, we were

00:33:03 --> 00:33:09

raised right a certain way, and we carry, you know those things

00:33:09 --> 00:33:12

forward into adulthood, however, our parents were we model that

00:33:12 --> 00:33:16

behavior, the culture that we were raised in, but at a certain point,

00:33:16 --> 00:33:20

when you accept that you are a practicing Muslim, you have to

00:33:20 --> 00:33:27

discard your cultural identity, right? The bat of the or the I

00:33:27 --> 00:33:31

shouldn't say fully, but I mean, to say that discard this identity

00:33:31 --> 00:33:36

that is informed primarily by culture, and by everything else,

00:33:36 --> 00:33:41

and say, I'm going to be the best version of me, which is adopting

00:33:41 --> 00:33:45

prophetic character. And then the good that you have of your

00:33:45 --> 00:33:48

character and your family are that is that which aligns with the

00:33:48 --> 00:33:51

prophesy sentence character, right. And anything else? You

00:33:51 --> 00:33:57

discard it, right. For example, like in this culture, cursing is

00:33:57 --> 00:33:59

very common. Right?

00:34:00 --> 00:34:04

I was speaking to some young kids, I mean, I teach martial arts. So I

00:34:04 --> 00:34:07

teach different ages. But I was speaking to some high school and

00:34:07 --> 00:34:11

middle middle school kids who recently met up with some other

00:34:11 --> 00:34:15

students, and they were just kind of talking but they were shocked

00:34:15 --> 00:34:20

at how cursing is very common now in the Muslim community.

00:34:21 --> 00:34:27

Like, you know, sisters, with hijab, dropping F bombs, brothers,

00:34:27 --> 00:34:32

you know, with beards and these youth who Allah again, has given

00:34:32 --> 00:34:36

them that FITARA they themselves are like, it's really weird. And

00:34:36 --> 00:34:39

that's exactly what one of them said. You said, It's really weird.

00:34:39 --> 00:34:43

I don't know why they curse so much. It's not our way that is

00:34:43 --> 00:34:47

completely antithetical to everything of our tradition. So if

00:34:47 --> 00:34:52

you're doing anything that counters the prophesies, symptoms,

00:34:52 --> 00:34:55

character, it's a defect in you and if you don't see it as a

00:34:55 --> 00:34:59

defect that you want to correct, then there's a problem.

00:35:00 --> 00:35:03

Right, because he has his perfect character. And we're all

00:35:03 --> 00:35:07

defective, of course, in many ways, but the point is to become

00:35:08 --> 00:35:11

better. And so that's how we do it, then the realization of

00:35:11 --> 00:35:15

indifference to others, acceptance or rejection is through patience

00:35:15 --> 00:35:19

and trust in Allah. So we don't, you know, waiting around to be

00:35:20 --> 00:35:23

invited or worried about being rejected, we just say, Allah

00:35:23 --> 00:35:26

subhanaw, that will take care of that. He'll take care of me, I

00:35:26 --> 00:35:32

don't need to be. And I don't need to people, please. Because as long

00:35:32 --> 00:35:35

as he's pleased with me, then I'll just be patient through all of

00:35:35 --> 00:35:39

that the realization of contentment is through acceptance

00:35:39 --> 00:35:41

of what one is given and turning over the management of one's

00:35:41 --> 00:35:46

affairs to Allah. So, again, that's one of the cures also for

00:35:46 --> 00:35:49

envy. Like if you have has said, you're supposed to sit there and

00:35:49 --> 00:35:51

think about Wait a second,

00:35:52 --> 00:35:58

who is the one who distributes to his creation? Everything right,

00:35:58 --> 00:36:00

almost found a distributes. He's the one who gives everybody

00:36:00 --> 00:36:04

wealth. He gives, you know, different qualities, different

00:36:04 --> 00:36:07

traits, not all of us have, you know, we're not, we're not all the

00:36:07 --> 00:36:12

same, right? But he's the one who's determined how much our

00:36:12 --> 00:36:17

portions are of this dunya. So when you are expressing,

00:36:18 --> 00:36:25

you know, you're just satisfaction with what you have. There's an

00:36:25 --> 00:36:30

allegation there, against Allah subhanaw taala, that somehow he

00:36:30 --> 00:36:36

has shorted you. Somehow he has slighted you all the blah, right?

00:36:36 --> 00:36:40

So this is where you have to again, go against your own knifes

00:36:40 --> 00:36:43

and say, No, I am satisfied with whatever Allah subhanaw taala has

00:36:43 --> 00:36:48

given me. And if this is what he has determined, for me in this

00:36:48 --> 00:36:53

world, I'll take it, I will take it. Because he knows best I don't

00:36:53 --> 00:36:58

know what's good for me. Right? And so whatever your tribulation

00:36:58 --> 00:37:03

is, that's how we, we, we, we are satisfied that we turn over

00:37:03 --> 00:37:05

everything to a loss panda. And then the realization of turning

00:37:05 --> 00:37:08

back to Allah constantly is through praise and gratitude in

00:37:08 --> 00:37:11

times of prosperity, and taking refuge in Him in times of

00:37:11 --> 00:37:16

affliction. So southern German, is what at the strike of a calamity,

00:37:16 --> 00:37:20

you turn to Allah subhanaw taala. And then gratitude is a constant

00:37:20 --> 00:37:25

practice, like every moment, as much as you can to be an almost

00:37:25 --> 00:37:29

father to bear witness to his, you know, gifts to you never minimize

00:37:29 --> 00:37:32

the gifts that Allah's father reveals to you, when you see

00:37:32 --> 00:37:36

things that are like, wow, like, that's, that's shocking, or that

00:37:36 --> 00:37:39

there's no coincidence. You know, if you follow me on social media,

00:37:39 --> 00:37:42

you know, I talked about this a lot, but never minimizing things

00:37:42 --> 00:37:46

that are even what we would call coincidental, or serendipitous as

00:37:46 --> 00:37:48

being Oh, that's just fun. It's just like, Oh, can you believe

00:37:48 --> 00:37:52

this happened? No, this is a gift from Allah for you to really

00:37:53 --> 00:37:57

momentous thing, hold on to it. And, you know, an advice I give to

00:37:57 --> 00:38:00

people actually have it right here on my phone, I have a notes folder

00:38:00 --> 00:38:04

of all these moments where there's no way you can tell me that's a

00:38:04 --> 00:38:07

coincidence from God, no way, I'll never believe it, I'll never

00:38:07 --> 00:38:10

believe it. Because the odds of all of these things aligning, are

00:38:10 --> 00:38:16

just too, too low. For for, for it to be just a coincidence, it's by

00:38:16 --> 00:38:21

design. So, you know, just constantly being witness to ALLAH

00:38:21 --> 00:38:26

SubhanA that as gifts and praising him as he so deserves. So now,

00:38:26 --> 00:38:30

these are the as I mentioned, and I want to leave some time for q&a.

00:38:30 --> 00:38:34

But I wanted to also introduce the next section here. So that was a

00:38:34 --> 00:38:36

review from our first session. And the reason why I also want to do a

00:38:36 --> 00:38:40

review is because our recording, unfortunately got cut off last

00:38:40 --> 00:38:44

time. So we didn't even get a lot of this, but Hamdulillah. But now,

00:38:44 --> 00:38:47

so what he's done is he laid that those five, right? And now he's

00:38:47 --> 00:38:54

giving us the, the five foundations that precede those

00:38:54 --> 00:38:58

five, so it's basic or sorry, the foundations of the preceding five

00:38:58 --> 00:39:01

are the following. So it's basically how do we get to those

00:39:01 --> 00:39:06

five? Well, this is what we need. And so he starts us off with first

00:39:06 --> 00:39:11

exalted aspirations. So if you want to achieve what we just set

00:39:11 --> 00:39:17

out, right, this beautiful roadmap for a path to Allah subhana wa,

00:39:17 --> 00:39:22

tada, you, the believer, the secret me, we have to have high

00:39:22 --> 00:39:29

aspirations, which means we have to move our focus from dunya we

00:39:29 --> 00:39:35

concerns to the Africa, right? And we have to align our goals in life

00:39:35 --> 00:39:40

with that the investing in our other world because this world is

00:39:40 --> 00:39:45

is is temporal, and it's just a means to get to the other side. So

00:39:45 --> 00:39:49

if you're stuck here in the dunya, world realm, everything is going

00:39:49 --> 00:39:53

to be duniya focused. My job, marriage, kids and that's what

00:39:53 --> 00:39:58

people end up squandering so much of their life away. fixated on

00:39:58 --> 00:39:59

getting things done.

00:40:00 --> 00:40:04

We just accumulate and we want to accumulate, we want to get, you

00:40:04 --> 00:40:07

know, whatever it is, everybody else has, I want my peace, right?

00:40:07 --> 00:40:11

It's kind of like when they, you know, when the when the wars would

00:40:11 --> 00:40:15

happen and all the soldiers come to collect the booty of the war,

00:40:15 --> 00:40:17

right. And everybody's kind of scrambling and running to get

00:40:17 --> 00:40:22

their peace, we're just like, but Subhanallah again, that's your,

00:40:22 --> 00:40:25

your eyes on the wrong prize, because there's a fortune on the

00:40:25 --> 00:40:28

other side that you're not even thinking about. And that's where

00:40:28 --> 00:40:33

exalted aspirations will lead you. So instead of wasting your time,

00:40:33 --> 00:40:34

you know,

00:40:35 --> 00:40:38

I mean, Subhan Allah, you know, people are free to do whatever

00:40:38 --> 00:40:42

they want. But you know, you I know, people who've spent 1000s of

00:40:42 --> 00:40:48

dollars on self help, like books, or, you know, they go on these, I

00:40:48 --> 00:40:52

don't know, what you would even call them, but it's like very

00:40:52 --> 00:40:57

indulging kind of experiences, and it's all gimmicky and it sounds

00:40:57 --> 00:41:01

really great, but a lot of it is just, you know, it's like I said,

00:41:01 --> 00:41:05

gimmicky, right, so you're going to spend 1000s of dollars to go

00:41:05 --> 00:41:08

get spa treatments and go to this vacation place and go tan yourself

00:41:08 --> 00:41:13

or whatever beautification things that people do, whatever or other

00:41:13 --> 00:41:17

adventures that people will spend a lot of money on. But when it

00:41:17 --> 00:41:21

comes to taking a class, learning not pay the are quote, and

00:41:21 --> 00:41:23

suddenly they're complaining about the price

00:41:24 --> 00:41:28

sounds a lot like really, so you would rather spend, you know

00:41:28 --> 00:41:34

$500 $1,000 on these packages to go and, you know, eat food or go

00:41:34 --> 00:41:38

to these resort kind of places, you spend so much of your earned

00:41:38 --> 00:41:42

money on that because to fill your stomach, but then the moment you

00:41:42 --> 00:41:45

have an opportunity to learn something or even like for Umrah

00:41:45 --> 00:41:50

or Hajj or do something spiritual, the price becomes a factor. Your

00:41:50 --> 00:41:54

aspirations are low, you're stuck in the world, you're not thinking

00:41:54 --> 00:41:59

about, maybe if I go take this class, it's gonna be, you know, a

00:41:59 --> 00:42:03

means for me to get my prayers, right, or start to learn more

00:42:03 --> 00:42:06

about how to read the book of Allah, or just feel more

00:42:06 --> 00:42:09

connected, you know, maybe it's going to be the means to something

00:42:09 --> 00:42:12

even greater and greater and greater. And then that will be

00:42:12 --> 00:42:14

mountains and mountains and mountains of reward from end of

00:42:14 --> 00:42:17

judgment. Nobody's where's that thought process right. So we're

00:42:17 --> 00:42:21

quick to indulge and enough's. But then we let these barriers come

00:42:21 --> 00:42:26

between us and greater goals, which, which are meant to draw us

00:42:26 --> 00:42:29

closer to his father. So that's the first thing if you want all of

00:42:29 --> 00:42:32

this you have to have exalted aspirations. The next thing he

00:42:32 --> 00:42:37

mentions, is maintaining Allah's reverence. This is very essential.

00:42:38 --> 00:42:42

other faiths, I mean, I cringe, I cringe at the way that, you know,

00:42:42 --> 00:42:45

may Allah forgive them, because they, it's all learned. But when I

00:42:45 --> 00:42:48

hear people of other faith traditions, the way they speak of

00:42:48 --> 00:42:53

God, it's so wrong. It's, you know, they they first of all,

00:42:53 --> 00:42:57

anthropomorphize, they give very human like qualities, to Allah

00:42:57 --> 00:43:01

subhanho data, which is an offense to, you know, to our

00:43:02 --> 00:43:05

sense of senses as Muslims, because we hold our spider with

00:43:05 --> 00:43:10

the highest. I mean, he is the most praised, and we we, we would

00:43:10 --> 00:43:14

never speak of him the way that other people speak of God. So

00:43:14 --> 00:43:19

it's, but we should also add to that, so this is where not just

00:43:19 --> 00:43:23

praising all US Plantera. But also, as I mentioned, having the

00:43:23 --> 00:43:27

best opinion, right, he says, an Andy than the appdb, I am in the

00:43:27 --> 00:43:32

opinion of my servant. So what does that mean? Well, when you

00:43:32 --> 00:43:37

have a high opinion of Allah subhanho data, he will literally

00:43:37 --> 00:43:39

confirm that opinion for you.

00:43:40 --> 00:43:44

So when you put all us past data, as he has, he's perfect, there is

00:43:44 --> 00:43:48

no he does not make mistakes. So what's happening to our brothers

00:43:48 --> 00:43:51

and sisters, all the way across the world is not a mistake of God

00:43:51 --> 00:43:55

out of Allah. And this is how some people who have no idea of who I

00:43:55 --> 00:43:59

was that it is, and they speak of, you know, horrors, and you know,

00:43:59 --> 00:44:04

evils in the world, with this acute, you know, accusatory sort

00:44:04 --> 00:44:08

of tone or just this. It's just very, it's disgusting. Honestly, I

00:44:08 --> 00:44:11

gave it to me, it's very repulsive, but they don't know a

00:44:11 --> 00:44:14

lot. They're talking about something else, right? We don't do

00:44:14 --> 00:44:18

that Allah doesn't make mistakes. children dying is not a mistake of

00:44:18 --> 00:44:23

God. There and we don't you know, we we don't ask us questions.

00:44:23 --> 00:44:28

That's the bottom line. Who are we to ask Allah, the Creator of the

00:44:28 --> 00:44:33

universe, questions about what he does with his own property? We all

00:44:33 --> 00:44:36

belong to him right under the law. He went into Iraq June. So who are

00:44:36 --> 00:44:42

we to question what he does with his own creation? We're nothing

00:44:42 --> 00:44:45

we're insignificant. And again, I'll bring it back on a human

00:44:45 --> 00:44:51

level. Any one of us would be offended if a person called us

00:44:51 --> 00:44:55

into question over how we dress over what we do with our property,

00:44:56 --> 00:44:59

right? Or even God forbid you give me parenting advice that I don't

00:45:00 --> 00:45:04

I agree with, who do you think you are? These are my children. I

00:45:04 --> 00:45:09

really. So you know, we get very touchy, when when it's turned back

00:45:09 --> 00:45:12

on us, but then the creator of the universe, we think we have the

00:45:12 --> 00:45:15

audacity to ask questions. So what we do is we have a good opinion of

00:45:15 --> 00:45:16

Allah and we say, You know what,

00:45:17 --> 00:45:22

all of it, at a certain point will be made clear. And I'm not going

00:45:22 --> 00:45:26

to sit here and judge the events that are unfolding as though they

00:45:26 --> 00:45:29

in any way project anything negative on my Creator, but rather

00:45:30 --> 00:45:34

look to me and humanity as a whole. And how, look at our

00:45:34 --> 00:45:38

species. I mean, what are the largest industries right now the

00:45:38 --> 00:45:42

most profitable industries in the world? Do you know what they are?

00:45:42 --> 00:45:44

It's sickening, sickening.

00:45:46 --> 00:45:47

*,

00:45:48 --> 00:45:54

drugs of every kind, right? We have a epidemic of human

00:45:54 --> 00:45:58

trafficking. The it's I mean, the list goes on and on about the

00:45:58 --> 00:46:01

evils that our species has put into the world. And so when we're

00:46:01 --> 00:46:04

seeing when we see all of this unfold in front of us, these are

00:46:04 --> 00:46:08

the signs of the latter days. It's because we've forgotten our Lord,

00:46:08 --> 00:46:11

we forgotten our Creator. And when we go distant, and we start to,

00:46:11 --> 00:46:16

you know, just spend all of our time and energy, you know, filling

00:46:16 --> 00:46:19

our knifes and that's all we're consumed with, then what do you

00:46:19 --> 00:46:24

expect? So having Allah's reverence, maintaining that is so

00:46:24 --> 00:46:29

essential to just constantly praise the last one that nope, not

00:46:29 --> 00:46:32

going to entertain a single negative thought of my creator,

00:46:32 --> 00:46:36

because I know that he has made all of this manifest, none of this

00:46:36 --> 00:46:39

should be a surprise to any of us. And if it's a surprise, or we're

00:46:39 --> 00:46:42

shocked by it all, it's because we don't read, we're not reading

00:46:42 --> 00:46:45

history, history repeats itself. We're not reading the Hadith

00:46:45 --> 00:46:49

literature that has foretold all of the signs, all of the lesser

00:46:49 --> 00:46:52

signs of the Day of Judgment are here in the world right now. All

00:46:52 --> 00:46:57

of it, the promises sort of gave us incredible gifts by telling us

00:46:57 --> 00:47:00

what to look out for. So he told us all of the stuff that happened,

00:47:00 --> 00:47:05

including mass killings, and angry people like just taking over the

00:47:05 --> 00:47:11

world, he told us. So maintaining Allah's reverence, then expanding

00:47:11 --> 00:47:15

oneself in excellent service of others, this is really also

00:47:15 --> 00:47:19

essential, if you want to get close to Allah subhanaw taala.

00:47:19 --> 00:47:22

Just like all the prophets and many of the saints and the

00:47:22 --> 00:47:26

righteous, there is a path of service you have to be. So you

00:47:26 --> 00:47:32

can't just be like, self absorbed, right service hit them up, is

00:47:33 --> 00:47:37

paying it forward, giving back to your family, your community,

00:47:37 --> 00:47:42

something that teaches you all of those beautiful characteristics

00:47:42 --> 00:47:46

and qualities of patience, all those virtues that we seek, it

00:47:46 --> 00:47:49

comes to the path of service, that's why all the prophets had

00:47:49 --> 00:47:53

what in common? They were shepherds, right they had some

00:47:53 --> 00:47:58

shepherding influence because taking care of a creation, right.

00:47:58 --> 00:48:03

Having to feed look after you know, I should and the great

00:48:03 --> 00:48:06

hadith of you know, article, Qumran, the promises and said all

00:48:06 --> 00:48:12

of you are shepherds, shepherding is part of the believers path

00:48:12 --> 00:48:17

being in service, in other words, right. So this is very important.

00:48:17 --> 00:48:19

And then I love that he the language because none of this is

00:48:19 --> 00:48:24

again, you know, it's purposeful, what he says, expanding oneself

00:48:24 --> 00:48:27

and excellent service of others. So you do it with a smile, you

00:48:27 --> 00:48:31

willingly serve other people. So what does this look like in a

00:48:31 --> 00:48:36

practical sense? When you come to the masjid, okay. And you see

00:48:36 --> 00:48:40

shoes all over the place, and you see people, you know, struggling

00:48:40 --> 00:48:43

carrying things, you don't just walk by and go, oh, I want to go

00:48:43 --> 00:48:47

get my spot and sit and be cozy and wait for my friends? No,

00:48:48 --> 00:48:52

that's not that's not service, what you say is, there's a need in

00:48:52 --> 00:48:54

front of me. And I'm a believer, and Allah has witnessed and this

00:48:54 --> 00:48:58

is his house, and I will keep the sacred sanctity of this house. So

00:48:58 --> 00:49:02

as much as I'm here to enjoy a program, or I'm here to see

00:49:02 --> 00:49:06

friends and loved ones, Allah is watching me and he put me where I

00:49:06 --> 00:49:10

can see something I'm witnessing something that's out of place,

00:49:10 --> 00:49:15

right. Which by the way, the meaning of Adam, right is to put

00:49:15 --> 00:49:18

things back in their place. So when we see something out of

00:49:18 --> 00:49:22

place, we fix it. And this is missing. And the proof of that is

00:49:22 --> 00:49:27

go into any Muslim Masjid go into the bathroom, and look at the

00:49:27 --> 00:49:32

Havoc that's been rigged in our bathrooms that nobody wants to

00:49:32 --> 00:49:35

touch and we wait for the cleaning person to come. But if you

00:49:35 --> 00:49:38

yourself aren't even mindful over yourself, and you're just gonna

00:49:38 --> 00:49:42

splash water everywhere and leave slippers turned over and just

00:49:42 --> 00:49:45

throw your paper towel and boom, you're out because you got to go

00:49:45 --> 00:49:49

run back to the event. Where's that awareness that Allah is

00:49:49 --> 00:49:52

watching me I'm here. Maybe I have a little bit more time than

00:49:52 --> 00:49:55

someone else does. And I can quickly do something. Do

00:49:55 --> 00:49:57

something. You don't have to clean the whole bathroom. Nobody's

00:49:57 --> 00:49:59

asking you to go get a brush and start cleaning toilets.

00:50:00 --> 00:50:05

But being in the service of others, is being mindful and

00:50:05 --> 00:50:09

present that Allah is giving you opportunities for reward and the

00:50:09 --> 00:50:13

best deeds are done when no one is watching. Those are the best

00:50:13 --> 00:50:18

deeds. So when you, you know are walking in a space and you see

00:50:18 --> 00:50:21

something again out of place, you don't need people to tell you to

00:50:21 --> 00:50:25

do that just do it. Right. And I mean, there's many ways that

00:50:25 --> 00:50:30

service of others can be done, but doing it with excellence is really

00:50:30 --> 00:50:33

important. And then fulfilling one's

00:50:34 --> 00:50:39

resolves. Again, if you're a person that takes your word

00:50:39 --> 00:50:43

seriously, then when you say you're going to do something, do

00:50:43 --> 00:50:48

it, don't be a person of lip service of empty promises of, you

00:50:48 --> 00:50:54

know, just these thought far fetched ideas that never culminate

00:50:54 --> 00:50:57

into anything. Because you're so worried about trying to keep up

00:50:57 --> 00:51:00

with people and you throw it all this way I'm gonna do some of

00:51:00 --> 00:51:04

this, just do it was set out to do it and make the NEA and of course,

00:51:05 --> 00:51:09

if you're if you want to do it, you have to tie that intention

00:51:09 --> 00:51:12

with asking Allah Subhana Allah for help, because you're never

00:51:12 --> 00:51:15

going to do anything on your own. And that's why in the Quran, right

00:51:15 --> 00:51:20

and Surah calf, what are we told that when you set out to do

00:51:20 --> 00:51:25

something, on the, the next day, on tomorrow, or tomorrow, always

00:51:25 --> 00:51:32

say what Inshallah, because if you think that you can do anything,

00:51:32 --> 00:51:35

even whatever plan you have, without the permission of Allah

00:51:35 --> 00:51:39

subhanaw without without his facilitation, or that him in any

00:51:39 --> 00:51:44

capacity, you are diluted, because only through him that you do

00:51:44 --> 00:51:47

anything that you're breathing right now. It is only by the grace

00:51:47 --> 00:51:50

and permission of Allah Subhana Allah, we are able to congregate

00:51:50 --> 00:51:55

and speak and breathe. And all of these functions are happening

00:51:55 --> 00:51:58

without any effort on our part. Like just think about that, right?

00:51:58 --> 00:52:01

These automatic like body responses, I forgot, what are they

00:52:01 --> 00:52:02

called there? There's

00:52:04 --> 00:52:06

I forgot there's a branch of it. I've studied biology, but now I

00:52:06 --> 00:52:08

forgot, you know, like our breathing apparatus and the

00:52:08 --> 00:52:12

ability to do things or without any thought, right? We're not

00:52:12 --> 00:52:15

thinking, I'm not thinking about breathing. But what is it called?

00:52:15 --> 00:52:19

Involuntary? Thank you involuntary, right? There's no

00:52:19 --> 00:52:23

will, there is no thought I'm not telling heartbeat pump heart

00:52:23 --> 00:52:26

lungs, taken, nothing is happening. But why is it happening

00:52:26 --> 00:52:29

because our last panel is a sustainer. He's the one who's

00:52:29 --> 00:52:34

maintaining a sustaining is. So have the humility to what plan,

00:52:35 --> 00:52:35

have

00:52:37 --> 00:52:40

your plans. And when you make those plans, be a person of

00:52:40 --> 00:52:45

execution, fulfill one's results resolves. That's the fourth

00:52:45 --> 00:52:49

quality that you need. In order to get to the first five, do you get

00:52:49 --> 00:52:53

how this works, it's really amazing. And then the final one,

00:52:53 --> 00:52:58

magnifying one's blessings. This is such an important practice, I

00:52:58 --> 00:53:02

cannot tell you, if you want to see real transformation in your

00:53:02 --> 00:53:05

life, like wherever you are, if you feel like you're in a rut,

00:53:05 --> 00:53:09

you're stuck, things aren't moving for you in any direction. If you

00:53:09 --> 00:53:14

want to see transformation in your life, practice gratitude, start to

00:53:14 --> 00:53:19

force yourself, to see the good, and to really sit with what an

00:53:19 --> 00:53:23

immense blessing it is that I have. Whatever it is, you know,

00:53:23 --> 00:53:26

you fill in the blanks, you know, but do that. And there's so much

00:53:26 --> 00:53:30

research that shows the transformative power of gratitude

00:53:30 --> 00:53:35

journaling of being a person who's just in that mindset of witnessing

00:53:35 --> 00:53:39

good, that it's like a gift that keeps on giving. Right. And so

00:53:39 --> 00:53:44

unfortunately, you know, we live in a time where, although that,

00:53:45 --> 00:53:50

you know, should be should be something that we can do. What's

00:53:50 --> 00:53:55

happened is because of social media and the effect of seeing so

00:53:55 --> 00:54:01

much abundance, right, we have a distorted view of the world. So

00:54:01 --> 00:54:04

when you're opening up, especially if you're on like, the more visual

00:54:04 --> 00:54:09

platforms, right? Have a big part of your day is spent opening, you

00:54:09 --> 00:54:14

know, up to Instagram or Tiktok or reels where it's just videos, and

00:54:14 --> 00:54:19

it's all perfectly curated and tailored and you know, filtered.

00:54:19 --> 00:54:23

And these messages that are coming from people of authority. You

00:54:23 --> 00:54:28

know, there's a lot of Now today's gurus and people with the sage

00:54:28 --> 00:54:31

wisdom, and everybody just seems to have it all figured out. So

00:54:31 --> 00:54:33

you're going through this and you're just like, wow, I'm a total

00:54:33 --> 00:54:36

loser. I have like absolutely nothing going on. All these people

00:54:36 --> 00:54:41

have perfect lives. Their their homes are immaculate, their

00:54:41 --> 00:54:44

children are perfect. They're going on these amazing vacations,

00:54:45 --> 00:54:48

and then they're like all sages. Like they have wisdom and they can

00:54:48 --> 00:54:53

speak like it's just like, you know, stuff falling out of them

00:54:53 --> 00:54:55

and then you just think of yourself and you're always gonna

00:54:55 --> 00:55:00

feel like you don't have what they have. And so then it makes you

00:55:00 --> 00:55:03

Feel like you do the opposite of this, you start to minimize

00:55:03 --> 00:55:07

yourself, because everybody else is magnified, you get it. This is

00:55:07 --> 00:55:11

why it's very dangerous to be on those platforms, because it's

00:55:11 --> 00:55:17

distorted. When you look at your reality, and you actually start to

00:55:17 --> 00:55:21

dissect all the blessings, all the things that you have been given

00:55:21 --> 00:55:26

and then contrast them to 99% of the world. And I'll throw that out

00:55:26 --> 00:55:29

there, even though that's probably desert. I don't know if there's

00:55:29 --> 00:55:33

any science to back that up. But I really think that a vast majority

00:55:33 --> 00:55:39

of people on this planet are suffering in ways that we cannot

00:55:39 --> 00:55:43

comprehend. Because those stories don't make it to the highlight to

00:55:43 --> 00:55:46

the reels, right. And to the tiktoks. I mean, very rarely,

00:55:46 --> 00:55:50

although earlier today, I saw like, a horrible story out of the

00:55:50 --> 00:55:54

Bulava of a man it was on Twitter just came up. But I mean, these

00:55:54 --> 00:55:59

things are a true they're real. He one of his body parts, who had a

00:55:59 --> 00:56:02

growth that was uncontrollable, like it just was growing out of

00:56:02 --> 00:56:09

control 80 pounds it had grown into so he was walking, and he

00:56:09 --> 00:56:12

can't leave the house. He's like, I'm a prisoner of my own body. You

00:56:12 --> 00:56:15

know, people have tumors, and they have all these horrible health

00:56:15 --> 00:56:18

problems. So it's like those things. Unless you're watching

00:56:18 --> 00:56:21

some rare documentary. You might not see that. But I think a lot of

00:56:21 --> 00:56:25

people suffer. You know, they suffer with drug addiction with

00:56:25 --> 00:56:27

alcohol addiction, abuse, trauma,

00:56:28 --> 00:56:33

health problems. So then, then when do you start to see Wow, 100

00:56:33 --> 00:56:39

I have health. I have, you know, wealth in the bank. I have food. I

00:56:39 --> 00:56:43

have clothes that keep me warm. I have a home, I have a bed that I

00:56:43 --> 00:56:47

love. I know a lot of us we invest in bedding, good bedding, right?

00:56:47 --> 00:56:50

Just think about how many people right now like if we're really

00:56:50 --> 00:56:53

being honest. That was one of the first things I thought of for

00:56:53 --> 00:56:58

these poor. Children especially like, where are they possibly

00:56:58 --> 00:57:00

sleeping? Like, I don't know if you've thought about that. But

00:57:00 --> 00:57:05

like, homes have been decimated? It's dust. It's Rubble, where are

00:57:05 --> 00:57:10

they sleeping? I don't know. Is it concrete slabs? Is it just because

00:57:10 --> 00:57:15

hospitals can contain 1000s and 1000s of people? And I don't know

00:57:15 --> 00:57:16

if people are

00:57:22 --> 00:57:22

on the floor.

00:57:24 --> 00:57:26

And see I don't know how the I'm sorry.

00:57:27 --> 00:57:31

Yeah, disease. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. Where are they using the

00:57:31 --> 00:57:33

restroom? And then

00:57:36 --> 00:57:40

so restroom, you know, bedding what's happening, right? And then

00:57:40 --> 00:57:43

like today's problem, I mean, just randomly, I'm reminded of it

00:57:43 --> 00:57:48

because it disturbed me. I was driving in Union City. And there

00:57:48 --> 00:57:52

was a construction site and I saw a man on the ground who was half

00:57:52 --> 00:57:55

of his body was hanging over the the street. He was wearing an

00:57:55 --> 00:57:58

orange parka or jacket. So I thought he was initially

00:57:58 --> 00:58:02

constructed were construction worker taking a nap. And then as I

00:58:02 --> 00:58:05

drove closer, I was like, Oh my God, that's just a man like he, he

00:58:05 --> 00:58:08

looks like he's audible. I wasn't sure if he was alive. There were

00:58:08 --> 00:58:11

so many cars. So I had I called Union City Police Department. I

00:58:11 --> 00:58:14

was like, there was a man. And I told him exactly where the

00:58:14 --> 00:58:17

location was. And then she was like, yeah, thank you, man.

00:58:17 --> 00:58:20

Someone else is also called about him. Basically, what we're gonna

00:58:20 --> 00:58:23

go on the scene. It was so disturbing to see that. So now

00:58:24 --> 00:58:27

multiply that look at the scale, we're talking about 1000s upon

00:58:27 --> 00:58:30

1000s of pounds. And by the way, I had a statistic the other day,

00:58:31 --> 00:58:33

there's 1000s of pregnant women

00:58:34 --> 00:58:35

that they're

00:58:37 --> 00:58:39

in about I said, like, I don't know.

00:58:41 --> 00:58:44

But it's like, imagine you're in your third term, and you're about

00:58:44 --> 00:58:48

to have a baby and you don't know. Like you have there's like you

00:58:48 --> 00:58:51

said disease spreading, no sanitation, no bedding, like what?

00:58:51 --> 00:58:55

The discomfort of pregnancy on top of all that, like, yeah, Robbie.

00:58:55 --> 00:58:57

So the point is,

00:58:58 --> 00:59:00

whatever you think

00:59:01 --> 00:59:05

you're not happy about your life? Well, law, he if you started to

00:59:05 --> 00:59:09

look at the circumstances, the majority of people are under you

00:59:09 --> 00:59:12

would be so grateful to all that you would feel like you're living

00:59:13 --> 00:59:17

like a king or a queen, or like, you know, a person of immense

00:59:17 --> 00:59:23

privilege. And so magnifying your blessings is a daily practice

00:59:23 --> 00:59:26

hamdulillah hamdulillah nothing to complain about actually saying

00:59:26 --> 00:59:29

those words vocalizing that, when someone's complaining Hamdulillah

00:59:29 --> 00:59:33

we shouldn't complain. We're so grateful Allah so so generous,

00:59:33 --> 00:59:36

almost so generous and watch what happens to you, when you make that

00:59:36 --> 00:59:43

your existence. If the the, you know, if you don't start feeling

00:59:44 --> 00:59:47

flooded with with really good feelings and emotions, but also

00:59:47 --> 00:59:50

just your reality, your circumstances may change very,

00:59:50 --> 00:59:55

very quickly, because gratitude is rewarded. Right? So Subhanallah

00:59:55 --> 00:59:59

sisters, I sorry, I wanted to leave at least 15 minutes for q&a,

00:59:59 --> 00:59:59

but those are the

01:00:00 --> 01:00:00

Five.

01:00:01 --> 01:00:04

Actually, let me just read one small section and then we'll stop

01:00:04 --> 01:00:09

for today. It says he says here he whose aspirations are exalted is

01:00:09 --> 01:00:12

raised in rank. So he's going through these five and now we're

01:00:12 --> 01:00:16

just giving commentary. Allah maintains the respect of he who

01:00:16 --> 01:00:21

preserves his reverence. So your respect in the sight of people

01:00:21 --> 01:00:25

will be maintained. When you show that reverence to Allah subhanaw

01:00:25 --> 01:00:29

taala it's in this is called the law of reciprocity. We see this

01:00:29 --> 01:00:32

theme a lot where Allah you know, do unto others as you would want

01:00:32 --> 01:00:36

done unto you, but almost father in his generosity will reward us

01:00:36 --> 01:00:39

with what we put out into the world. So you're a generous

01:00:39 --> 01:00:42

person, he'll be generous with you, you're a kind person he'll be

01:00:42 --> 01:00:45

kind with you compassionate, merciful, all of those virtues, it

01:00:45 --> 01:00:50

will be repaid to us. He who does that which he resolves to do is

01:00:50 --> 01:00:54

assured continual guidance. So just as you're a person of

01:00:54 --> 01:00:57

commitment, then that is your reward Allah spot that will give

01:00:57 --> 01:01:00

you hedaya Because hedaya is only through him. He who deems

01:01:00 --> 01:01:05

blessings to be great by his own i has shown gratitude right so when

01:01:05 --> 01:01:09

you're magnifying your blessings, that's what you're doing right?

01:01:09 --> 01:01:12

You're you're witnessing and so you're showing gratitude, and he

01:01:12 --> 01:01:16

was grateful ensures an increase in blessings from the giver of

01:01:16 --> 01:01:19

gifts according to the promise of the truth row one. So that's what

01:01:19 --> 01:01:22

it is, you will you're ensured more blessings in your life. If

01:01:22 --> 01:01:27

you continue to be grateful right then Shackleton didn't accumulate

01:01:27 --> 01:01:30

in Shackleton, Macedon, right? If you are grateful, I will increase

01:01:30 --> 01:01:34

you, Allah subhanaw taala promises us. So hamdulillah these are the

01:01:34 --> 01:01:35

first

01:01:36 --> 01:01:40

sections of this incredible document. We will continue next

01:01:40 --> 01:01:46

month. But any questions about anything or any comments, anything

01:01:46 --> 01:01:47

anybody wants to share?

01:01:52 --> 01:01:55

I will just give a little bit of advice for the sisters who are

01:01:55 --> 01:01:59

watching and those who are here. Right now, as I mentioned, we're

01:01:59 --> 01:02:01

in very difficult times. And I know that there's kind of a

01:02:01 --> 01:02:06

heightened sense of awareness and we should be on alert, especially

01:02:06 --> 01:02:11

those who wear hijab. So please, sisters, take precautions. I think

01:02:11 --> 01:02:14

it's necessary and I don't want to be an alarmist. But I also don't

01:02:14 --> 01:02:18

want to hear any tragic news. The Bay Area as progressive and

01:02:18 --> 01:02:21

liberal as people are, there's a lot of sick people here as well.

01:02:22 --> 01:02:26

There was a sister in Burlingame. I've watched today. She was spat

01:02:26 --> 01:02:28

on, I didn't see the full

01:02:29 --> 01:02:33

interview, but she was her identity was concealed. She was I

01:02:33 --> 01:02:36

think, a Jordanian sister spoken Arabic. And she had a translator,

01:02:36 --> 01:02:41

but she said some men approached her in the Burlingame area, and he

01:02:41 --> 01:02:46

was he spat on her. So this is right here in California. So I

01:02:46 --> 01:02:50

think we should really practice caution. And what that means is,

01:02:51 --> 01:02:53

you know, just making sure that you're,

01:02:54 --> 01:02:57

you have, you're with people, you're not alone, especially in

01:02:57 --> 01:03:00

areas that are kind of like sketchy or you know, you're not

01:03:00 --> 01:03:06

sure about, please be careful. And then also, like in the car, I need

01:03:06 --> 01:03:09

to do this as well, for those of you who wear hijab, like you

01:03:09 --> 01:03:12

should have like a hat or something, you know, you wear your

01:03:12 --> 01:03:16

hijab, but if you're driving, especially at night, just kind of,

01:03:16 --> 01:03:19

you know, disguise yourself a little bit. I think it's good

01:03:19 --> 01:03:21

practice, at least now to just put on a little hat or visor or

01:03:21 --> 01:03:26

something. Because we don't want to draw, or if you have tinted

01:03:26 --> 01:03:29

windows, you're fine. But you know, there are things that we can

01:03:29 --> 01:03:32

be proactive about, and then that doesn't compromise your failure.

01:03:32 --> 01:03:36

Not a weak Muslim. No, you're a person who's practicing hikma. And

01:03:37 --> 01:03:41

remember that, you know, the aim of Sharia, the five, McCall said,

01:03:41 --> 01:03:45

is the preservation of life. So we are fully in our right to try to

01:03:45 --> 01:03:49

preserve our safety and our life by taking these precautions.

01:03:52 --> 01:03:52

Yes.

01:03:59 --> 01:04:01

Something someone has done wrong, or

01:04:04 --> 01:04:07

is it just time for us to do something backwards?

01:04:14 --> 01:04:17

Sure, absolutely. No, it's a very good question. So the question

01:04:17 --> 01:04:20

was, like any event that someone costs you like this sister who was

01:04:20 --> 01:04:26

spat on, what is the position like what in our shittier? Or what what

01:04:26 --> 01:04:30

what can we do in order to defend ourselves? Can we should we, you

01:04:30 --> 01:04:34

know, respond in any way and in what way? I think every situation

01:04:34 --> 01:04:38

is going to call for a response, right? Because you have to also be

01:04:38 --> 01:04:43

aware of your, you know, have that situational awareness like can you

01:04:43 --> 01:04:47

do something that would not make it worse, right? Because you don't

01:04:47 --> 01:04:50

know if some if that person has a weapon, you know, you have no

01:04:50 --> 01:04:55

idea. So I would say, always err on the side of caution and say,

01:04:55 --> 01:04:57

you know, if there are people around you and you feel like

01:04:57 --> 01:05:00

you're supported and maybe there's you know, it's like

01:05:00 --> 01:05:04

more public space and you will be protected, then you can certainly,

01:05:04 --> 01:05:07

you know, say something if you feel the need to we don't have

01:05:07 --> 01:05:11

this idea of just letting people attack us and not defending

01:05:11 --> 01:05:12

ourselves, you have the right to defend yourself. But if you want

01:05:12 --> 01:05:17

to take it to a point of saying something, to correct that person

01:05:17 --> 01:05:20

or just to feel like this is wrong, and I need to, you know, do

01:05:20 --> 01:05:22

I'm going to be moderate or something, you know, I need to set

01:05:22 --> 01:05:26

the, then I think it's very situational there, one answer

01:05:26 --> 01:05:30

won't fit. Because every situation is going to require an assessment.

01:05:30 --> 01:05:34

And so make the assessment based on your feeling of safety. And not

01:05:34 --> 01:05:36

every personality is up for something like that. Right.

01:05:36 --> 01:05:39

There's some temperaments where they fight flight freeze, they

01:05:39 --> 01:05:43

wouldn't know what to do. But you know, like, I'm crushed in hot

01:05:43 --> 01:05:46

blooded, I will admit it, you're likely gonna get something from

01:05:46 --> 01:05:49

me, you know, and that's just my personality. I've had enough

01:05:49 --> 01:05:52

experience in life, where I don't tend to just let things like that

01:05:52 --> 01:05:57

go. But not everybody, I think, is that comfortable, you know, being

01:05:57 --> 01:06:01

outspoken. And that's okay. Because there's no right or wrong

01:06:01 --> 01:06:05

in this. It's a matter of what you've have assessed. So I would

01:06:05 --> 01:06:09

say, assess the situation. But I don't think you should, in any

01:06:09 --> 01:06:11

way, try to provoke people like that, because we're living in a

01:06:11 --> 01:06:14

time where there's a lot of mental health problems, a lot of violence

01:06:14 --> 01:06:18

people are, I mean, I've seen enough videos where I'm shocked at

01:06:18 --> 01:06:22

how disproportionate the reactions are, you know, someone gets the

01:06:22 --> 01:06:25

wrong order, and a person is like, ready to kill them. I mean, what

01:06:25 --> 01:06:29

is this, so we're not living in times where people are rational or

01:06:29 --> 01:06:32

civil. And you could expect that, oh, they would have a sudden

01:06:32 --> 01:06:36

change of heart and oh, now you're doing, you're probably going to

01:06:36 --> 01:06:39

have, you know, it's going to turn into something bigger. So I would

01:06:39 --> 01:06:43

say even for myself, there are many times where I have just

01:06:43 --> 01:06:47

chosen to not say anything, not because of a weakness, but rather

01:06:47 --> 01:06:51

of I have children and I don't want to compromise my safety or

01:06:51 --> 01:06:54

other people's safety. I don't want to incite someone to even

01:06:54 --> 01:06:57

further violence who clearly may have a mental health problem. So

01:06:57 --> 01:07:01

that's hikma, you know, but if you feel like you know, it's a

01:07:01 --> 01:07:05

different circumstance Maybe it's like a more controlled environment

01:07:05 --> 01:07:08

someone that you know, a co worker and you don't feel that threat.

01:07:09 --> 01:07:13

There may be a different response. Yeah, but I think you know,

01:07:14 --> 01:07:19

we have to again, look at the time that we're in and just be very

01:07:19 --> 01:07:24

careful and as women we already have targets you know, on us so we

01:07:24 --> 01:07:27

just I think I have to be even more careful. Thank you for the

01:07:27 --> 01:07:28

question.

01:07:30 --> 01:07:32

Just like walking sisters I don't want to keep you longer will

01:07:32 --> 01:07:38

inshallah and in da this would let her off mana Rahim wala acid in

01:07:38 --> 01:07:42

01:07:42 --> 01:07:45

Haiti with us I will help you with the rest of the summer Subhanak

01:07:45 --> 01:07:49

01:07:59 --> 01:08:03

01:08:03 --> 01:08:03

their head. I

01:08:06 --> 01:08:11

was like, well, thank you very much everyone show up. And I don't

01:08:11 --> 01:08:15

know about next month dates yet. I think they're we're doing them the

01:08:15 --> 01:08:19

third Thursday of every of every month. It's short and shallow. It

01:08:19 --> 01:08:24

01:08:27 --> 01:08:30
