Prophets

00:00:38 --> 00:00:41

with the able translation of Imamzade. Allah

00:00:42 --> 00:00:43

raised both of them,

00:00:43 --> 00:00:44

in rank.

00:00:46 --> 00:00:48

One is that, this is the 6th night

00:00:48 --> 00:00:49

of Ramadan.

00:00:50 --> 00:00:51

So for those of you who are nimble

00:00:51 --> 00:00:52

with division and fractions,

00:00:53 --> 00:00:55

you know that that means 1 5th of

00:00:55 --> 00:00:56

the month has,

00:00:56 --> 00:00:58

has now passed.

00:00:59 --> 00:01:01

And, it annoys me to no end when

00:01:01 --> 00:01:02

people say,

00:01:02 --> 00:01:05

oh, look how fast Ramadan passed by.

00:01:05 --> 00:01:07

Because if you're spending every moment,

00:01:08 --> 00:01:11

seeking from it, it's Nur and it's Baraka

00:01:11 --> 00:01:13

in its optimal state,

00:01:13 --> 00:01:15

then it will be a very long Ramadan.

00:01:16 --> 00:01:18

And, that's not because it's boring, but that's

00:01:18 --> 00:01:19

because it's Mubarak.

00:01:20 --> 00:01:21

And this is a

00:01:21 --> 00:01:22

a civilizational

00:01:23 --> 00:01:24

understanding that seems to have left,

00:01:25 --> 00:01:26

certain individuals,

00:01:26 --> 00:01:30

but, it's worth reminding one another about.

00:01:31 --> 00:01:33

And the second reminder is that

00:01:43 --> 00:01:44

I should say.

00:01:46 --> 00:01:48

That Allah there are certain people who

00:01:49 --> 00:01:50

free them from the hellfire

00:01:51 --> 00:01:52

and,

00:01:52 --> 00:01:53

there's

00:01:54 --> 00:01:56

a quota for every night. Meaning, it's not

00:01:56 --> 00:01:58

just the last 10 nights. There's a quota

00:01:58 --> 00:02:00

on every night. May Allah

00:02:00 --> 00:02:00

make

00:02:01 --> 00:02:01

us this

00:02:02 --> 00:02:04

night. Don't take it lightly. Even if it

00:02:04 --> 00:02:06

just means to make du'a for 5 minutes

00:02:07 --> 00:02:09

or to make a sentence, one sentence with

00:02:09 --> 00:02:09

complete

00:02:10 --> 00:02:10

in

00:02:12 --> 00:02:12

sincerity

00:02:12 --> 00:02:14

that, you Allah, make me

00:02:15 --> 00:02:17

make me, from the people who was freed

00:02:17 --> 00:02:18

from the fire in this night.

00:02:19 --> 00:02:21

Even just a moment of sincerity,

00:02:22 --> 00:02:22

it can

00:02:23 --> 00:02:25

give a person an eternity of

00:02:26 --> 00:02:28

of bliss and honor. Allah

00:02:28 --> 00:02:30

make us from the,

00:02:30 --> 00:02:33

this night. There have been many people who

00:02:33 --> 00:02:34

have asked me. They said, well, I thought

00:02:34 --> 00:02:36

Shaitan was supposed to be locked up, but

00:02:36 --> 00:02:38

this is happening, that's happening, the other thing's

00:02:38 --> 00:02:39

happening.

00:02:39 --> 00:02:40

And, sadly,

00:02:41 --> 00:02:43

Shaitan is locked up, but

00:02:43 --> 00:02:44

the nafs itself,

00:02:45 --> 00:02:47

it doesn't like going from 0 to pious,

00:02:47 --> 00:02:49

you know, overnight or in 5 days.

00:02:50 --> 00:02:52

And, that's what we've done to it. And

00:02:52 --> 00:02:54

so it's rebelling right now. And it will

00:02:54 --> 00:02:56

do weird things to you. It will give

00:02:56 --> 00:02:56

you weird insinuations.

00:02:57 --> 00:03:00

It will whisper weird garbage to you that

00:03:00 --> 00:03:01

it it wouldn't have said

00:03:02 --> 00:03:05

to you in a regular day? And what

00:03:05 --> 00:03:07

is it? It's like, you know, when 2

00:03:07 --> 00:03:08

people who hate each other get into a

00:03:08 --> 00:03:09

fight,

00:03:09 --> 00:03:11

they they search for, the meanest thing that

00:03:11 --> 00:03:13

they can say to one another.

00:03:13 --> 00:03:15

So that's when, you know,

00:03:15 --> 00:03:17

imagine if someone is arguing with

00:03:18 --> 00:03:19

a woman, what type of slurs will they

00:03:19 --> 00:03:21

use? And if someone's arguing with a a

00:03:21 --> 00:03:23

black person, what type of slurs will they

00:03:23 --> 00:03:24

use? And if there's someone who's arguing with

00:03:24 --> 00:03:26

the Arab, what kind of slurs will they

00:03:26 --> 00:03:27

use? And if someone's arguing with the Muslims,

00:03:27 --> 00:03:29

they'll call them terrorists and Osama and Saddam

00:03:29 --> 00:03:31

and all the worst things they can think

00:03:31 --> 00:03:33

of to say all of the most trite

00:03:33 --> 00:03:33

and most,

00:03:36 --> 00:03:36

unimaginative,

00:03:38 --> 00:03:39

stereotypical

00:03:39 --> 00:03:41

things that they could say to each other.

00:03:41 --> 00:03:42

They're gonna say all those things.

00:03:42 --> 00:03:44

And the nafs is like that also.

00:03:44 --> 00:03:46

The nafs knows that you value your your

00:03:46 --> 00:03:47

iman, and so when you say, hey, no

00:03:47 --> 00:03:50

more eating, drinking, no more looking at beautiful

00:03:50 --> 00:03:53

women and beautiful men and no more backbiting,

00:03:53 --> 00:03:55

and no more gossiping, and cut the music

00:03:55 --> 00:03:56

out, and cut the Netflix out, and all

00:03:56 --> 00:03:59

this other stuff. It's going to obviously come

00:03:59 --> 00:04:00

after come after

00:04:00 --> 00:04:02

the thing that it knows that you, you

00:04:02 --> 00:04:04

you value the most, the things that it

00:04:04 --> 00:04:06

know it knows you value the most, the

00:04:06 --> 00:04:07

people that it knows you value the most,

00:04:08 --> 00:04:10

The priorities that you have in life. Why?

00:04:10 --> 00:04:13

Because it's in pain and it's in torture.

00:04:13 --> 00:04:15

So the bad news is that's gonna happen

00:04:15 --> 00:04:18

for some people, and nobody likes to hear,

00:04:18 --> 00:04:20

those whisperings inside of their inside of their

00:04:20 --> 00:04:22

heart. But the good news, it means that

00:04:22 --> 00:04:23

you're hitting the nafs where it hurts.

00:04:24 --> 00:04:26

And so if the nuffs is hurting too

00:04:26 --> 00:04:27

much, ease up a little bit off of

00:04:27 --> 00:04:29

it. You know? Go take a nap. You

00:04:29 --> 00:04:30

know, you can read like you could finish

00:04:30 --> 00:04:32

your * later. Go take a nap or

00:04:32 --> 00:04:33

whatever. Ease up off of it. If you

00:04:33 --> 00:04:35

know you're already irritable, it's probably not the

00:04:35 --> 00:04:37

best time to, like, you know, I don't

00:04:37 --> 00:04:38

know, talk to small children or something like

00:04:38 --> 00:04:40

that because you're just gonna end up screaming

00:04:40 --> 00:04:41

at them. And,

00:04:42 --> 00:04:44

the rest of it is what? Is that

00:04:44 --> 00:04:45

you know you're hitting the knuffs where it

00:04:45 --> 00:04:48

hurts, so something right should be happening.

00:04:48 --> 00:04:50

So pay it no heed. Pay it no

00:04:50 --> 00:04:50

attention.

00:04:51 --> 00:04:53

You know, pay it as much attention as

00:04:53 --> 00:04:54

you would, you know,

00:04:55 --> 00:04:56

if getting,

00:04:57 --> 00:04:58

getting cussed out by someone with someone with

00:04:58 --> 00:04:59

Alzheimer's,

00:05:00 --> 00:05:02

which is what, you know, unless you're a

00:05:02 --> 00:05:05

completely hot headed person, a complete fool,

00:05:05 --> 00:05:07

you know, if you're getting cussed out by

00:05:07 --> 00:05:08

someone with Alzheimer's who doesn't even know who

00:05:08 --> 00:05:10

they are, much less who you are,

00:05:11 --> 00:05:11

then,

00:05:12 --> 00:05:14

you know, if you actually get feel heard

00:05:14 --> 00:05:16

about that, then that's a bit,

00:05:19 --> 00:05:21

immature. You know, see the bigger picture and

00:05:21 --> 00:05:23

know that the reason your Nas is giving

00:05:23 --> 00:05:25

trouble right now is because you're you're forcing

00:05:25 --> 00:05:26

it to do what's right.

00:05:26 --> 00:05:27

And,

00:05:29 --> 00:05:31

have some saber and some patience. If you

00:05:31 --> 00:05:32

keep forcing it,

00:05:32 --> 00:05:34

it will it will be subdued.

00:05:34 --> 00:05:36

It will be pliant. Inshallah,

00:05:37 --> 00:05:38

if it gets to the point of being

00:05:38 --> 00:05:40

pliant, then even in Shawwal,

00:05:41 --> 00:05:43

the shaitan, when it does start attacking you

00:05:43 --> 00:05:45

again, if your nafs is on your side

00:05:45 --> 00:05:46

or at least if your nafs,

00:05:46 --> 00:05:48

its rebelliousness is mitigated

00:05:49 --> 00:05:49

significantly,

00:05:50 --> 00:05:52

Inshallah, you'll be able to deal with shaitan,

00:05:52 --> 00:05:54

and you'll be able to deal with that.

00:05:55 --> 00:05:56

Make it easy for all of us. But

00:05:56 --> 00:05:58

don't don't listen to these insinuations

00:05:58 --> 00:06:01

and whisperings of of the nafs when it

00:06:01 --> 00:06:03

just cusses you out and attacks everything is

00:06:03 --> 00:06:05

which is dear to you. It's not serious.

00:06:05 --> 00:06:07

It's not coming from inside of you.

00:06:07 --> 00:06:09

It's just, it's just you dealing with the

00:06:09 --> 00:06:10

irrational part of yourself.

00:06:11 --> 00:06:12

And, the best way to deal with the

00:06:12 --> 00:06:14

irrational part of yourself is, frankly, just to

00:06:14 --> 00:06:15

ignore it.

00:06:17 --> 00:06:20

Chapter 4, categories of scholars. Many of the

00:06:20 --> 00:06:23

righteous forebears, Yani the Salaf, such as Sufyanath

00:06:23 --> 00:06:25

Thori or Hamedullah. Sufyanath Thori was

00:06:26 --> 00:06:28

a great scholar in the Tabi'in of Kufa,

00:06:29 --> 00:06:32

and he was the or perhaps the Tabat

00:06:32 --> 00:06:33

Tabi'in,

00:06:33 --> 00:06:34

and he was a great,

00:06:35 --> 00:06:37

a fairy. He was a great scholar of

00:06:37 --> 00:06:38

the

00:06:38 --> 00:06:41

the method of the Muhaddithun in Kufa, whereas

00:06:41 --> 00:06:43

Imamu Hanifa in that in that age was

00:06:43 --> 00:06:45

the great scholar of the people of Ra'i,

00:06:45 --> 00:06:48

the usul, the people of usul and and

00:06:48 --> 00:06:49

principled methodology.

00:06:50 --> 00:06:52

But he Sofiana Thori was a very,

00:06:53 --> 00:06:54

very well respected

00:06:54 --> 00:06:56

and highly esteemed,

00:06:57 --> 00:06:57

individual

00:06:58 --> 00:07:00

in the in the history of this ummah,

00:07:01 --> 00:07:03

such as Sufyanath Thori and others categorize scholars

00:07:03 --> 00:07:05

into various groups.

00:07:05 --> 00:07:07

The best of these groupings is epitomized by

00:07:07 --> 00:07:09

the scholar who knows both Allah and his

00:07:09 --> 00:07:10

commandments.

00:07:11 --> 00:07:12

This by this expression,

00:07:14 --> 00:07:16

refers to those who combine inner and outer

00:07:16 --> 00:07:19

knowledge. We talked about that in yesterday's band.

00:07:19 --> 00:07:20

So if you wanna have a little bit

00:07:20 --> 00:07:23

more discussion about that, you can you can

00:07:23 --> 00:07:24

refer, to yesterday's talk.

00:07:25 --> 00:07:27

These are the most distinguished scholars. They are

00:07:27 --> 00:07:28

praised by Allah.

00:07:29 --> 00:07:31

Indeed, amongst his servants, it is but the

00:07:31 --> 00:07:33

learned who fear Allah.

00:07:34 --> 00:07:35

Allah says in his book,

00:07:40 --> 00:07:43

Indeed, none fear Allah except for the people

00:07:43 --> 00:07:44

of knowledge.

00:07:44 --> 00:07:45

He also says,

00:07:46 --> 00:07:48

indeed, those who were given knowledge beforehand when

00:07:48 --> 00:07:50

our signs are recited to them, they fall

00:07:50 --> 00:07:51

down prostrate on their faces

00:07:52 --> 00:07:53

saying, glorified is our lord.

00:07:55 --> 00:07:57

Indeed, the promise of our lord will be

00:07:57 --> 00:07:58

fulfilled.

00:07:59 --> 00:08:01

They will fall down prostrate on their faces,

00:08:01 --> 00:08:04

weeping, and it increases them in humility.

00:08:05 --> 00:08:08

Again, the the the tie between humility and

00:08:08 --> 00:08:10

between knowledge, which was discussed yesterday.

00:08:11 --> 00:08:14

Many of the righteous forebears used to say,

00:08:14 --> 00:08:17

religious knowledge is not an abundance of memorized

00:08:17 --> 00:08:19

texts, rather knowledge is humility.

00:08:20 --> 00:08:22

1 of them said, fear of Allah is

00:08:22 --> 00:08:24

sufficient knowledge, and being deceived concerning Allah is

00:08:24 --> 00:08:25

sufficient ignorance.

00:08:26 --> 00:08:27

This is a very important

00:08:29 --> 00:08:31

understanding. We have a

00:08:31 --> 00:08:33

tradition. It's a principled tradition.

00:08:33 --> 00:08:36

It is a tradition in which information and

00:08:36 --> 00:08:38

knowledge is ordered in terms of priority.

00:08:39 --> 00:08:41

If a person doesn't understand the first lesson,

00:08:41 --> 00:08:42

the rest of the pieces of the puzzle

00:08:42 --> 00:08:44

are not gonna make sense to them.

00:08:44 --> 00:08:46

The first piece of the puzzle is what?

00:08:46 --> 00:08:49

Is that a person should know their place

00:08:49 --> 00:08:52

and that put that knowledge is, knowledge that

00:08:52 --> 00:08:53

endows humility to the to the knower. If

00:08:53 --> 00:08:55

they don't know humility, then all of their

00:08:56 --> 00:08:58

knowledge will be like the knowledge of Iblis.

00:08:58 --> 00:09:00

It will just, give them a VIP first

00:09:00 --> 00:09:03

class ticket to the hellfire, which is not

00:09:03 --> 00:09:04

not a good thing.

00:09:05 --> 00:09:08

They further said, one who knows Allah experientially

00:09:09 --> 00:09:11

does not necessarily know the commandments of Allah.

00:09:12 --> 00:09:14

Such are the possessors of inner knowledge who

00:09:14 --> 00:09:17

lack adequate comprehension of judicial matters.

00:09:18 --> 00:09:20

The righteous forebears similarly said,

00:09:21 --> 00:09:23

one who knows the commandments of Allah does

00:09:23 --> 00:09:24

not necessarily

00:09:25 --> 00:09:26

know Allah experientially,

00:09:27 --> 00:09:29

Such are the possessors of outer knowledge that

00:09:29 --> 00:09:31

have no inkling of inner knowledge. They neither

00:09:31 --> 00:09:34

fear Allah nor do they possess humility.

00:09:34 --> 00:09:35

They were deemed blameworthy

00:09:36 --> 00:09:37

by the righteous forebears.

00:09:37 --> 00:09:39

One of them said concerning a scholar,

00:09:40 --> 00:09:42

this type is corrupt. They stopped at outer

00:09:42 --> 00:09:45

knowledge while beneficial knowledge fails to reach their

00:09:45 --> 00:09:45

hearts.

00:09:46 --> 00:09:48

They will never savor its fragrance. They have

00:09:48 --> 00:09:50

been overwhelmed by their negligence,

00:09:50 --> 00:09:53

their hardness of heart, and their aversion of

00:09:53 --> 00:09:55

the hereafter. They vie with one another for

00:09:55 --> 00:09:58

this world seeking exaltation in it and are

00:09:58 --> 00:09:58

vainglorious.

00:10:01 --> 00:10:03

The harm and enmity of corrupt scholars.

00:10:04 --> 00:10:06

Corrupt scholars think ill of those who have

00:10:06 --> 00:10:08

obtained beneficial knowledge.

00:10:09 --> 00:10:10

They do not love them nor do they

00:10:10 --> 00:10:13

sit with them. They may even condemn them.

00:10:13 --> 00:10:15

They denounce them saying they are not real

00:10:15 --> 00:10:17

scholars. This is from the treachery of Shaytan

00:10:17 --> 00:10:20

and his deception which prevents these corrupt scholars

00:10:20 --> 00:10:22

from attaining beneficial knowledge with Allah and his

00:10:22 --> 00:10:25

messenger, the righteous forebearers of the Muslim nation

00:10:25 --> 00:10:26

and its imam.

00:10:27 --> 00:10:28

And it's imams,

00:10:31 --> 00:10:33

the people who have

00:10:34 --> 00:10:35

the people who,

00:10:36 --> 00:10:38

the people who, have been praised by all

00:10:38 --> 00:10:41

of them. So he's saying that the, the

00:10:41 --> 00:10:43

treachery of shaitan is what? Is that these

00:10:43 --> 00:10:45

people think themselves better than the the the

00:10:45 --> 00:10:47

the ulama, the people who have beneficial knowledge,

00:10:47 --> 00:10:50

reached their hearts, the the scholars, the inward

00:10:50 --> 00:10:52

and the outward, they have contemptured them. They

00:10:52 --> 00:10:54

don't sit with them. They denounce them and

00:10:54 --> 00:10:55

say they're not real scholars.

00:10:56 --> 00:10:57

And

00:10:59 --> 00:11:02

this treachery of shaitan prevents such

00:11:02 --> 00:11:03

corrupt people

00:11:04 --> 00:11:05

from attaining beneficial

00:11:06 --> 00:11:08

knowledge, which Allah, his messenger, the righteous forebearers

00:11:08 --> 00:11:10

of the Muslim nations, and the imams have

00:11:10 --> 00:11:11

all praised.

00:11:12 --> 00:11:14

And so this what do we take from

00:11:14 --> 00:11:15

this? That there's a sign

00:11:16 --> 00:11:18

that, if there's a a person

00:11:21 --> 00:11:23

who has contempt for the entire scholarly,

00:11:25 --> 00:11:26

for the entire scholarly

00:11:28 --> 00:11:29

edifice,

00:11:29 --> 00:11:32

for the entire institution of scholarship in Islam,

00:11:33 --> 00:11:33

for precedent,

00:11:34 --> 00:11:35

for the established schools

00:11:36 --> 00:11:38

of of fiqh or of really of any

00:11:38 --> 00:11:40

other ones of the science. They have contempt

00:11:40 --> 00:11:42

for them. They say that these people are

00:11:42 --> 00:11:44

not even real scholars. They're all stupid, and

00:11:44 --> 00:11:44

I'm smart,

00:11:45 --> 00:11:47

as opposed to saying I disagree with these

00:11:47 --> 00:11:49

people for this reason or for that reason.

00:11:49 --> 00:11:52

But the person who completely dismisses them, this

00:11:52 --> 00:11:53

is a sign that that person that person

00:11:53 --> 00:11:56

is off the path. And we have, unfortunately,

00:11:56 --> 00:11:57

many people like that.

00:11:57 --> 00:11:59

And, you know,

00:12:01 --> 00:12:03

because there are many people whose arrogance,

00:12:04 --> 00:12:05

prevents them from

00:12:06 --> 00:12:07

valuing what the ulama have to say.

00:12:08 --> 00:12:10

When they find such scholars, they say this

00:12:10 --> 00:12:11

person is like the big, you know, this

00:12:11 --> 00:12:13

is the new sensation. This guy is the

00:12:13 --> 00:12:15

big guy who's gonna revive Islam.

00:12:15 --> 00:12:17

And we have people like that, and they

00:12:17 --> 00:12:18

actually get

00:12:18 --> 00:12:20

space to speak in our in our masajid.

00:12:23 --> 00:12:24

One very interesting,

00:12:25 --> 00:12:27

example of this is this individual by the

00:12:27 --> 00:12:28

name of Javed Ahmed Dukhamidi,

00:12:29 --> 00:12:31

a person who has made in Ka'raf

00:12:32 --> 00:12:35

many of the foundational principles of Deen, has

00:12:35 --> 00:12:38

made in Karah and disavowed a great

00:12:38 --> 00:12:39

majority

00:12:39 --> 00:12:40

over overwhelming

00:12:40 --> 00:12:43

preponderant majority of the corpus of hadith, of

00:12:43 --> 00:12:47

fiqh, of established precedents in in really every

00:12:48 --> 00:12:48

every

00:12:49 --> 00:12:49

different

00:12:51 --> 00:12:52

branch of learning.

00:12:52 --> 00:12:54

And on top of it on top of

00:12:54 --> 00:12:56

it, he was the official

00:12:57 --> 00:12:59

head of the ideological council, which is the

00:12:59 --> 00:13:00

religious,

00:13:00 --> 00:13:03

advisory to the presidency of the Islamic Republic

00:13:03 --> 00:13:04

of Pakistan.

00:13:04 --> 00:13:08

For who? For, Parvez Musharraf, its military dictator.

00:13:08 --> 00:13:11

So even according to actual, like, liberal secular

00:13:11 --> 00:13:13

values, the man was a sellout.

00:13:14 --> 00:13:16

But but because he tells people they don't

00:13:16 --> 00:13:18

have to respect even the most basic norms

00:13:18 --> 00:13:20

of the Sharia, people love him. And so

00:13:20 --> 00:13:22

the masajid that, you know, we're called to

00:13:22 --> 00:13:23

do service for,

00:13:24 --> 00:13:26

oftentimes that sacrifice and

00:13:27 --> 00:13:29

difficulty to ourselves,

00:13:29 --> 00:13:31

Those masajid, at the turn of a dime,

00:13:31 --> 00:13:32

the boards will call,

00:13:33 --> 00:13:35

you know, pretenders like this to go and

00:13:35 --> 00:13:37

speak over there. And even from our own

00:13:37 --> 00:13:39

students, we have the

00:13:39 --> 00:13:41

and the dislike of seeing,

00:13:41 --> 00:13:42

people exalting,

00:13:42 --> 00:13:45

and extolling, you know, things that that that

00:13:45 --> 00:13:46

charlatans like to say.

00:13:46 --> 00:13:47

Well,

00:13:48 --> 00:13:50

you know, I guess if a person if

00:13:50 --> 00:13:52

that's what they want, if they wanna see,

00:13:52 --> 00:13:53

things overturned,

00:13:53 --> 00:13:55

for the sake of overturning them, then a

00:13:55 --> 00:13:57

person like this would be wonderful. If the

00:13:57 --> 00:13:59

knowledge actually had enough importance to them that

00:13:59 --> 00:14:02

they would bother to learn it themselves, then

00:14:02 --> 00:14:04

maybe they would see why such a person,

00:14:05 --> 00:14:05

is

00:14:06 --> 00:14:07

is is really

00:14:09 --> 00:14:12

just very ignorant and careless in their, in

00:14:12 --> 00:14:12

their,

00:14:13 --> 00:14:16

in their just flippant discarding

00:14:16 --> 00:14:17

of

00:14:17 --> 00:14:19

what is deep and meaningful,

00:14:19 --> 00:14:21

scholarship of of the past,

00:14:22 --> 00:14:22

generations

00:14:23 --> 00:14:23

and,

00:14:24 --> 00:14:25

you know, just a weird

00:14:26 --> 00:14:28

type of, like, nuff's trap that, you know,

00:14:28 --> 00:14:30

I'm everyone else in the history of Islam

00:14:30 --> 00:14:31

was an idiot, and I'm the only one

00:14:31 --> 00:14:34

who understood this, which, you know, that type

00:14:34 --> 00:14:36

of attitude to really any

00:14:37 --> 00:14:39

branch of learning or field of learning,

00:14:39 --> 00:14:40

is

00:14:40 --> 00:14:42

is is dangerous. You know? Like they say

00:14:42 --> 00:14:43

about Isaac Newton,

00:14:44 --> 00:14:46

they say that he said that if, you

00:14:46 --> 00:14:47

know, if I have great vision, it's because

00:14:47 --> 00:14:50

I've stood on the shoulders of giants. Meaning

00:14:50 --> 00:14:52

what? He accepted the fact that there's a

00:14:52 --> 00:14:55

whole amount of civilization that brought him, mathematics

00:14:55 --> 00:14:57

and physics that were developed to the point

00:14:57 --> 00:14:59

that they were, that he could, say

00:15:00 --> 00:15:03

and think and develop and work through things

00:15:03 --> 00:15:04

and bring something,

00:15:05 --> 00:15:07

bring something new. Whereas if he had to

00:15:07 --> 00:15:09

spend his whole life, you know, trying to

00:15:09 --> 00:15:10

figure out that, you know, numbers and base

00:15:10 --> 00:15:12

ten are better than Roman numerals or whatever,

00:15:13 --> 00:15:15

maybe he wouldn't have gotten to,

00:15:16 --> 00:15:17

you know, his

00:15:17 --> 00:15:19

development of Newtonian physics,

00:15:21 --> 00:15:23

you know, in the beautiful way that that

00:15:23 --> 00:15:24

he did.

00:15:25 --> 00:15:27

If you're going to just dismiss everything,

00:15:27 --> 00:15:29

then good luck, you know, start from from

00:15:29 --> 00:15:31

square one again. And Rami Di is definitely

00:15:31 --> 00:15:34

not the only person who's like this. And

00:15:34 --> 00:15:36

we have we've had, you know, crackpots even

00:15:36 --> 00:15:37

in North America

00:15:38 --> 00:15:38

who,

00:15:38 --> 00:15:40

who have claimed that they're

00:15:40 --> 00:15:41

and that they don't need any of the

00:15:41 --> 00:15:44

mazahib. We have crackpots that claim their profits,

00:15:45 --> 00:15:46

more than 1,

00:15:48 --> 00:15:50

And I know I have, like, relatives that

00:15:50 --> 00:15:52

fall for these, these types of things. Why?

00:15:52 --> 00:15:53

Because they don't wanna pray 5 times a

00:15:53 --> 00:15:55

day. They don't wanna be told that, you

00:15:55 --> 00:15:56

know, you have to eat halal or whatever.

00:15:56 --> 00:15:58

Some really petty things

00:15:58 --> 00:16:01

because of which people want to rebel against

00:16:01 --> 00:16:01

the entire

00:16:02 --> 00:16:04

scholarly edifice, and, you know,

00:16:05 --> 00:16:06

there's not a lot of khair in it.

00:16:07 --> 00:16:10

And so how does ibn Rajab, who never

00:16:10 --> 00:16:11

met Hamdi before,

00:16:11 --> 00:16:13

describe corrupt scholars?

00:16:14 --> 00:16:16

Corrupt scholars think ill of those who have

00:16:16 --> 00:16:18

obtained beneficial knowledge. They do not love them

00:16:18 --> 00:16:20

nor do they sit with them. They may

00:16:20 --> 00:16:22

even condemn them. They denounce them by saying

00:16:22 --> 00:16:23

they are not real scholars.

00:16:24 --> 00:16:25

This is from the treachery of Satan and

00:16:25 --> 00:16:28

his deception which prevents these corrupt scholars from

00:16:28 --> 00:16:29

attaining beneficial knowledge,

00:16:29 --> 00:16:32

which Allah, his messenger, the righteous forebearers of

00:16:32 --> 00:16:34

the Muslim nation and its imams, all have

00:16:34 --> 00:16:34

praised.

00:16:35 --> 00:16:38

For this reason, worldly scholars dislike religious scholars,

00:16:38 --> 00:16:41

and they and they strive to their utmost

00:16:41 --> 00:16:43

to harm them just as they,

00:16:43 --> 00:16:45

endeavor to harm Saied bin Musayib,

00:16:46 --> 00:16:48

Al Hassan al Basri, Sofiana Thodi, Imam Malik,

00:16:48 --> 00:16:51

Imam Ahmed, and other, upright scholars. May Allah

00:16:51 --> 00:16:53

be pleased with them. So here when he

00:16:53 --> 00:16:55

says worldly scholars, he's not talking about the

00:16:55 --> 00:16:56

people who have the knowledge of, like, physics

00:16:56 --> 00:16:58

and chemistry and biology and these things.

00:16:59 --> 00:17:01

What he's talking about is the people who

00:17:01 --> 00:17:04

have knowledge of stuff like hadith and of

00:17:04 --> 00:17:07

tafsir and things like that, but they pursued

00:17:07 --> 00:17:08

such knowledge for the sake of the dunya.

00:17:09 --> 00:17:10

That's what he means when he says worldly

00:17:10 --> 00:17:12

scholars. He's not talking about just because you're

00:17:12 --> 00:17:14

an engineer, somehow you're gonna, like, you know,

00:17:14 --> 00:17:17

end up persecuting Imam Malik or whatever. That's

00:17:17 --> 00:17:18

not that's not what he's trying to say.

00:17:19 --> 00:17:21

This is because righteous scholars are successors of

00:17:21 --> 00:17:25

the prophets alayhi wasalam, whereas worldly scholars resemble

00:17:25 --> 00:17:26

those who have earned the wrath of Allah,

00:17:27 --> 00:17:29

those who were the enemies of the prophets,

00:17:29 --> 00:17:31

the slayers of the prophets, the murderers of

00:17:31 --> 00:17:32

the righteous.

00:17:33 --> 00:17:35

They are the most intense in their enmity

00:17:35 --> 00:17:37

and envy toward the believers.

00:17:37 --> 00:17:39

Because of their intense love of this world,

00:17:39 --> 00:17:42

these corrupt scholars appreciate neither knowledge of the

00:17:42 --> 00:17:43

religion

00:17:43 --> 00:17:47

nor, true religion. Instead, they glorify wealth status

00:17:47 --> 00:17:47

and positions,

00:17:48 --> 00:17:50

of advantage with rulers.

00:17:51 --> 00:17:53

And if you think Imam Junaid,

00:17:53 --> 00:17:55

if you think any of the great imams

00:17:55 --> 00:17:59

of our tradition didn't have very powerful adversaries

00:17:59 --> 00:17:59

and antagonists,

00:18:00 --> 00:18:02

that were ingratiated with the government,

00:18:03 --> 00:18:05

that that would persecute them,

00:18:05 --> 00:18:08

and threaten them with with with, you know,

00:18:08 --> 00:18:10

imprisonment and fine and death and,

00:18:12 --> 00:18:14

you know, imperil their their dunya,

00:18:14 --> 00:18:16

you know, you need to read a little

00:18:16 --> 00:18:17

bit more history.

00:18:18 --> 00:18:20

One of the ministers said to Mufti, Hajjjad

00:18:20 --> 00:18:21

ben Artha.

00:18:22 --> 00:18:24

You know well jurisprudence and theology.

00:18:25 --> 00:18:27

Hajjjad says, why don't you instead say you

00:18:27 --> 00:18:30

have honor and esteem? The minister said, I

00:18:30 --> 00:18:32

swear by Allah you belittle what Allah has

00:18:32 --> 00:18:34

extolled and you extoll what Allah has belittled.

00:18:35 --> 00:18:36

Meaning,

00:18:38 --> 00:18:38

the Mufti,

00:18:41 --> 00:18:44

the Mufti was praised for his knowledge and,

00:18:45 --> 00:18:46

instead he said, why don't you say you

00:18:46 --> 00:18:48

have honor and esteem? And the minister says

00:18:48 --> 00:18:50

to the mufti what? He says that the

00:18:50 --> 00:18:52

thing Allah has belittled, which is honor and

00:18:52 --> 00:18:54

esteemed, you seek that and the thing Allah

00:18:54 --> 00:18:55

has praised which is,

00:18:56 --> 00:18:59

which is knowledge of jurisprudence and theology of,

00:19:01 --> 00:19:02

you you're trying to put push it to

00:19:02 --> 00:19:03

the side. And

00:19:04 --> 00:19:06

so it seems from the siak, from the

00:19:06 --> 00:19:06

context,

00:19:07 --> 00:19:09

that this Hajj Hajj is not somebody that

00:19:10 --> 00:19:11

even Rajiv thought too highly

00:19:11 --> 00:19:13

of. The deception of Satan.

00:19:13 --> 00:19:16

Many of those claiming inner knowledge speak about

00:19:16 --> 00:19:16

it,

00:19:17 --> 00:19:20

limiting themselves to it, and condemn outer knowledge,

00:19:20 --> 00:19:22

namely namely the study of Sharia legal rulings

00:19:22 --> 00:19:24

and matters concerning the lawful and unlawful.

00:19:25 --> 00:19:27

And they defame its people saying that they

00:19:27 --> 00:19:28

have,

00:19:28 --> 00:19:30

that they're saying that they are veiled and

00:19:30 --> 00:19:31

they're people of superficiality.

00:19:32 --> 00:19:33

This is irresponsible.

00:19:35 --> 00:19:36

This irresponsible attitude

00:19:37 --> 00:19:40

in, engenders vilification of the pure Sharia, the

00:19:40 --> 00:19:40

Sharia

00:19:41 --> 00:19:44

and the righteous deeds, that the prophet

00:19:45 --> 00:19:46

brought, encouraged, and fostered.

00:19:47 --> 00:19:49

Some of them go as far as to

00:19:49 --> 00:19:50

absolve themselves,

00:19:50 --> 00:19:52

of the need, to perform acts of worship,

00:19:53 --> 00:19:55

claiming that worship is for the masses.

00:19:55 --> 00:19:57

They claim that one who has attained nearness

00:19:57 --> 00:19:59

to Allah has no need for worship.

00:20:00 --> 00:20:02

In fact, such rituals are considered a veil

00:20:02 --> 00:20:04

for them. Junaid

00:20:05 --> 00:20:07

and others have said concerning such people,

00:20:07 --> 00:20:09

what they have attained is only the hellfire.

00:20:10 --> 00:20:12

This claim that adherence to the Sharia is

00:20:12 --> 00:20:14

unnecessary is from the greatest,

00:20:15 --> 00:20:15

treachery

00:20:16 --> 00:20:18

and deception of Iblis, of Shaitan,

00:20:18 --> 00:20:20

towards such people. He will continue to play

00:20:20 --> 00:20:23

with them until he causes them to apostatize

00:20:23 --> 00:20:23

from Islam.

00:20:25 --> 00:20:27

Among this group of deceived scholars are those

00:20:27 --> 00:20:30

who imagine that inner knowledge is not received

00:20:30 --> 00:20:31

from the lamp of prophethood nor from the

00:20:31 --> 00:20:34

Quran or Sunnah, but that it issues from

00:20:34 --> 00:20:37

personal divination and mystical inspiration.

00:20:38 --> 00:20:40

They entertain malicious thoughts toward the perfect Sharia

00:20:41 --> 00:20:44

thinking that it hasn't come with, the sword

00:20:44 --> 00:20:46

of knowledge that rectifies hearts and draws people

00:20:46 --> 00:20:48

near to Allah, the knower of the unseen.

00:20:49 --> 00:20:51

This attitude ultimately produces in them a total

00:20:51 --> 00:20:53

rejection of what the messenger of Allah sallallahu

00:20:53 --> 00:20:56

alaihi wasallam brought in this regard and leads

00:20:56 --> 00:20:58

them to talk about spiritual matters on the

00:20:58 --> 00:21:00

basis of conjecture and fantasy.

00:21:00 --> 00:21:01

They are astray

00:21:02 --> 00:21:04

and they lead others astray.

00:21:05 --> 00:21:07

And this is interesting because there's a lot

00:21:07 --> 00:21:08

of this going around in,

00:21:09 --> 00:21:10

the age that we live in.

00:21:11 --> 00:21:13

And there's like, you know, there's like mild,

00:21:13 --> 00:21:15

medium, and and and fire sauce for those

00:21:15 --> 00:21:17

of you who are, familiar with the Taco

00:21:17 --> 00:21:18

Bellion paradigm.

00:21:18 --> 00:21:22

There's mild, medium, hot sauce and fire sauce.

00:21:22 --> 00:21:23

And so the mild is what? There are

00:21:23 --> 00:21:26

certain people from the scholars who will talk

00:21:26 --> 00:21:28

about feel goody type stuff,

00:21:29 --> 00:21:30

and avoid

00:21:31 --> 00:21:33

the controversial matters of the Sharia.

00:21:33 --> 00:21:36

That's the that's the mild. The medium sauces,

00:21:36 --> 00:21:37

there are people who will,

00:21:38 --> 00:21:41

talk about feel goody stuff and they will

00:21:41 --> 00:21:42

avoid talking about the sharia

00:21:43 --> 00:21:43

completely.

00:21:44 --> 00:21:45

The hot sauce is what

00:21:46 --> 00:21:48

is that, there are people who will,

00:21:49 --> 00:21:49

you know,

00:21:50 --> 00:21:52

avoid talking about the Sharia

00:21:52 --> 00:21:54

and they will resent the the the people

00:21:54 --> 00:21:56

who talk about Sharia and speak ill of

00:21:56 --> 00:21:58

them. You know, the medium sauce people are

00:21:58 --> 00:22:00

like, well, there's always some Deobandi who will,

00:22:01 --> 00:22:01

bring

00:22:02 --> 00:22:04

up mention of the of the of the

00:22:04 --> 00:22:06

Hilal and Halal and all of those

00:22:07 --> 00:22:09

inconvenient messai or the sharia that are, you

00:22:09 --> 00:22:12

know, well recorded and attested to by precedent.

00:22:12 --> 00:22:15

And, this leaves the, scope open for us

00:22:15 --> 00:22:17

to give, talks about stuff that people are

00:22:17 --> 00:22:20

gonna be happy with. Now while, you know,

00:22:20 --> 00:22:22

whatever, mullah or, you know, unfortunate Mauritanian or

00:22:22 --> 00:22:25

someone who actually sticks to orthodoxy is,

00:22:26 --> 00:22:29

going to, you know, espouse and expound upon,

00:22:30 --> 00:22:33

those parts of the Sharia that we also

00:22:33 --> 00:22:36

inside know are are important, but we're gonna

00:22:36 --> 00:22:38

like leave the, we're gonna leave the the

00:22:38 --> 00:22:39

burden on them and just not talk about

00:22:39 --> 00:22:40

it.

00:22:41 --> 00:22:43

And then there's those who will,

00:22:43 --> 00:22:44

actually

00:22:44 --> 00:22:47

hate on those people for talking about it.

00:22:47 --> 00:22:50

1 is, offloading your heavy lifting onto somebody

00:22:50 --> 00:22:51

else,

00:22:52 --> 00:22:54

and enjoying the ease of not having to

00:22:54 --> 00:22:56

vouch for a part of the sharia, and

00:22:56 --> 00:22:57

the other is actually,

00:22:58 --> 00:23:00

disavowing the heavy lifting incomplete.

00:23:01 --> 00:23:03

And then the fire sauce is what? Is

00:23:03 --> 00:23:05

that, you know, those people who follow the

00:23:05 --> 00:23:07

tariqah of the hulat, like the Isma'ilis and

00:23:07 --> 00:23:10

the Boris and the, you know, a great

00:23:11 --> 00:23:13

number of different heterodox groups that may or

00:23:13 --> 00:23:16

may not claim nubuwa or prophethood or some

00:23:16 --> 00:23:19

sort of secret knowledge that that that,

00:23:19 --> 00:23:22

supersedes the the the knowledge of the Sharia,

00:23:22 --> 00:23:23

that we don't even have to,

00:23:24 --> 00:23:26

bother with these things. We don't have to

00:23:26 --> 00:23:28

worry about them. And this doesn't mean that,

00:23:28 --> 00:23:31

our tradition, as Muslims is not a mystical

00:23:31 --> 00:23:33

tradition. It is a tradition in which spiritual

00:23:33 --> 00:23:35

insight is very important.

00:23:35 --> 00:23:36

But the prophet

00:23:37 --> 00:23:38

left us with,

00:23:38 --> 00:23:40

you know, a very important,

00:23:41 --> 00:23:44

legacy, which is that the Sharia is like,

00:23:44 --> 00:23:45

you know, a geometrical,

00:23:48 --> 00:23:50

very sharply defined set of boundaries,

00:23:52 --> 00:23:53

which shows us,

00:23:54 --> 00:23:56

who whose mystical experiences

00:23:57 --> 00:23:59

are sound and will lead to good and

00:23:59 --> 00:23:59

whose mystical,

00:24:00 --> 00:24:03

experiences are and will just lead to destruction

00:24:03 --> 00:24:04

in this world and the hereafter.

00:24:05 --> 00:24:05

And so,

00:24:06 --> 00:24:08

you know, the sharia is what allows us

00:24:08 --> 00:24:08

to know

00:24:09 --> 00:24:09

that,

00:24:10 --> 00:24:11

you know, these,

00:24:11 --> 00:24:14

you know, fake, fake, you know, helvosaurus type

00:24:14 --> 00:24:15

peers who see

00:24:16 --> 00:24:18

dreams in which, you know, if you don't

00:24:18 --> 00:24:19

pay a $100,000

00:24:20 --> 00:24:21

to, whatever,

00:24:22 --> 00:24:25

charitable fund that they're running tonight that, you

00:24:25 --> 00:24:27

know, a 100,000 people entered the hellfire or

00:24:27 --> 00:24:30

whatever, you can tell you can tell by

00:24:30 --> 00:24:32

the sharia that such people are are are

00:24:32 --> 00:24:32

probably,

00:24:33 --> 00:24:36

you know, blowing smoke, blowing hot air, out

00:24:36 --> 00:24:37

of some orifice or the other.

00:24:38 --> 00:24:40

Whereas there are people who spoke from their

00:24:40 --> 00:24:43

mystical experiences like Shah uliullah,

00:24:44 --> 00:24:47

like, the sheikh Mujadid al Thani, Ahmad Salhindi,

00:24:47 --> 00:24:49

like the, you know, in general, the,

00:24:50 --> 00:24:52

the the oliya and the masha'if of the

00:24:52 --> 00:24:55

tariqa that this the Muslims, in particular the

00:24:55 --> 00:24:56

Sunni tradition,

00:24:56 --> 00:24:57

reveres and extols.

00:24:58 --> 00:24:59

And the difference is what? Is both of

00:24:59 --> 00:25:02

them talk about some mystical experience,

00:25:03 --> 00:25:05

but in one case, the mystical experience will

00:25:06 --> 00:25:07

push them toward

00:25:08 --> 00:25:10

doing something beneficial in society, whereas the other

00:25:10 --> 00:25:11

one,

00:25:11 --> 00:25:13

just pushes toward high levels of Hava consumption,

00:25:14 --> 00:25:15

in some form or the other.

00:25:16 --> 00:25:17

And, you know,

00:25:18 --> 00:25:20

even Rajab mentions this this this statement,

00:25:21 --> 00:25:22

which is that,

00:25:25 --> 00:25:29

you know, that they they entertain malicious thoughts

00:25:29 --> 00:25:31

toward the perfect sharia thinking, that it hasn't

00:25:31 --> 00:25:33

come with the sort of knowledge that rectifies

00:25:33 --> 00:25:34

hearts and draws people

00:25:34 --> 00:25:36

near to Allah the Nur of the unseen.

00:25:36 --> 00:25:39

This attitude ultimately produces in them a total

00:25:39 --> 00:25:39

rejection,

00:25:41 --> 00:25:43

of the what the messenger of Allah brought

00:25:44 --> 00:25:46

and, in this regard and leads them talk

00:25:46 --> 00:25:48

about spiritual matters on the basis of conjecture

00:25:48 --> 00:25:49

and fantasy.

00:25:49 --> 00:25:51

They are astray and they lead others astray.

00:25:51 --> 00:25:53

This reminds me of one of my favorite

00:25:53 --> 00:25:55

stories from the kashf al Mahjub, which we

00:25:55 --> 00:25:58

probably mentioned in years past, but, it's alright.

00:25:58 --> 00:25:59

A good story should be told again a

00:25:59 --> 00:26:02

couple of times. There's no problem with that.

00:26:02 --> 00:26:03

And that is that one of the Imam

00:26:03 --> 00:26:04

Jannaid,

00:26:05 --> 00:26:05

Imam

00:26:12 --> 00:26:15

I mean, one of my favorite stories is

00:26:15 --> 00:26:16

that one of his students

00:26:17 --> 00:26:19

stopped attending the majlis of his sheikh,

00:26:20 --> 00:26:22

And the student entertained inside of him some

00:26:22 --> 00:26:24

sort of fancy that, like, look, I've reached

00:26:24 --> 00:26:25

a station with Allah

00:26:26 --> 00:26:27

And so, like, what's the point? I don't

00:26:27 --> 00:26:29

need to I don't need to associate with

00:26:29 --> 00:26:30

my sheikh anymore.

00:26:31 --> 00:26:33

And your sheikh always, you know, his shadow

00:26:33 --> 00:26:35

should be over you. Even if you're exceed

00:26:35 --> 00:26:37

him in every way, shape, or form, this

00:26:37 --> 00:26:39

is the sunnah. Like, a a a child

00:26:39 --> 00:26:41

who's more pious than his parents should still

00:26:41 --> 00:26:43

show honor to his parents,

00:26:44 --> 00:26:46

and just like a a younger, should still

00:26:46 --> 00:26:48

show some modicum of honor to their elders

00:26:48 --> 00:26:49

even if they exceed them in rank.

00:26:50 --> 00:26:51

You know, so he had, you know, so

00:26:51 --> 00:26:53

he had this this this this idea in

00:26:53 --> 00:26:54

his head and it was all just cheitan.

00:26:54 --> 00:26:57

And cheitan was just messing with him. And

00:26:57 --> 00:26:59

so what happens is he started seeing dreams,

00:26:59 --> 00:27:01

when he would sleep at night of him

00:27:01 --> 00:27:01

being Jannah

00:27:02 --> 00:27:06

and, enjoying the various known delights, of paradise.

00:27:06 --> 00:27:08

So he thought, yo man, I made it,

00:27:08 --> 00:27:09

you know, like I'm a I'm a wally

00:27:09 --> 00:27:12

now, man. That's it. This is is I

00:27:12 --> 00:27:13

made it, you know, I don't need to

00:27:13 --> 00:27:14

go to Majlis no more. I got I

00:27:14 --> 00:27:15

got what I need.

00:27:16 --> 00:27:19

I gots it, you know? And so what

00:27:19 --> 00:27:20

happens is that,

00:27:21 --> 00:27:22

his teacher sees him,

00:27:23 --> 00:27:24

you know, in the city somewhere and he's

00:27:24 --> 00:27:26

like he's like, Britta, how come you don't

00:27:26 --> 00:27:27

come to the Majlis anymore?

00:27:28 --> 00:27:30

And, he makes some, like, real, like, snide,

00:27:30 --> 00:27:32

comment, you know, thinly,

00:27:33 --> 00:27:34

thinly veiled,

00:27:34 --> 00:27:36

you know, veneer of politeness.

00:27:37 --> 00:27:39

Like, you know, like, you know, yeah, we

00:27:39 --> 00:27:40

used to benefit

00:27:40 --> 00:27:42

and we used to benefit so much from

00:27:42 --> 00:27:44

your your company and but

00:27:44 --> 00:27:46

has given us so much now. You know,

00:27:46 --> 00:27:47

meaning, like, I don't have to come no

00:27:47 --> 00:27:49

more. I already I made it. It's all

00:27:49 --> 00:27:50

good.

00:27:50 --> 00:27:51

And so,

00:27:52 --> 00:27:53

Imam Junaid,

00:27:53 --> 00:27:56

you know, your sheikh is intimately aware of

00:27:56 --> 00:27:56

your

00:27:57 --> 00:27:58

station,

00:27:58 --> 00:28:00

if he is also of a station like

00:28:00 --> 00:28:01

Imam Jannaid.

00:28:02 --> 00:28:03

And so,

00:28:03 --> 00:28:05

he's like, oh, okay. I see. That's cool.

00:28:05 --> 00:28:07

He goes, look. Just do me a favor.

00:28:07 --> 00:28:09

He goes, next time you see one of

00:28:09 --> 00:28:11

these visions of being in Jannah or whatever

00:28:11 --> 00:28:14

that you're enjoying right now, he says, just

00:28:14 --> 00:28:14

repeat

00:28:16 --> 00:28:17

3 times.

00:28:18 --> 00:28:19

And so

00:28:20 --> 00:28:23

he's like, okay. Cool. I guess. So the

00:28:23 --> 00:28:24

next time he sleeps and he sees a

00:28:24 --> 00:28:25

vision of Jannah,

00:28:26 --> 00:28:28

and, one of the hurrayin is about to

00:28:28 --> 00:28:29

give him a kiss.

00:28:30 --> 00:28:32

Wouldn't that be so nice? Right?

00:28:34 --> 00:28:35

You know,

00:28:35 --> 00:28:37

just don't don't admit that it would be

00:28:37 --> 00:28:40

nice to your wife. But, wouldn't that be

00:28:40 --> 00:28:42

so wonderful. Right? And so he's about to

00:28:42 --> 00:28:44

receive this kiss, and then he he remembers,

00:28:44 --> 00:28:46

oh, my sheikh told me to do something.

00:28:46 --> 00:28:46

He says that,

00:28:49 --> 00:28:51

and so he says it 3 times. And

00:28:51 --> 00:28:52

all of a sudden,

00:28:53 --> 00:28:55

bam, Jannah's gone. And he's sitting in a

00:28:55 --> 00:28:58

garbage dump in Baghdad, and a dog is

00:28:58 --> 00:28:59

licking his cheek.

00:29:01 --> 00:29:02

And,

00:29:03 --> 00:29:05

those are Mubarak and blessed people. This is

00:29:05 --> 00:29:06

a fitna. God knows,

00:29:06 --> 00:29:07

you know, if I would have passed it

00:29:07 --> 00:29:09

or not, I probably would have been, like,

00:29:09 --> 00:29:11

double as profligate, you know. The people who

00:29:11 --> 00:29:12

sat in those majals were

00:29:13 --> 00:29:15

tested them very stringently.

00:29:15 --> 00:29:18

And so he he had enough good sense

00:29:18 --> 00:29:19

to, you know, to hang his head low

00:29:19 --> 00:29:21

and, come back to Sheikh Sab and

00:29:22 --> 00:29:23

admit that I still have a couple of

00:29:23 --> 00:29:25

things to learn from you. And so he

00:29:25 --> 00:29:26

admitted him back into the majlis.

00:29:27 --> 00:29:29

And so the point is is what is

00:29:29 --> 00:29:32

that there are many people who have these

00:29:32 --> 00:29:34

fantasies inside of their heart, that they have

00:29:34 --> 00:29:36

some sort of spiritual experience,

00:29:36 --> 00:29:39

and it's really nothing. And it's very powerful.

00:29:40 --> 00:29:42

These fantasies are very powerful.

00:29:42 --> 00:29:43

They happen to you and they happen to

00:29:43 --> 00:29:46

me. They're very powerful. A person's power of

00:29:46 --> 00:29:49

imagination is like really it's Allah gave human

00:29:49 --> 00:29:52

beings this ability and it's like something that

00:29:52 --> 00:29:54

nobody else in the creation has. That we

00:29:54 --> 00:29:56

have this ability to make tasawwur, to imagine

00:29:56 --> 00:29:58

things inside of our hearts that,

00:29:59 --> 00:30:02

exceeds even the the natural parameters and boundaries

00:30:02 --> 00:30:04

of time and space and cause and effect.

00:30:05 --> 00:30:06

And we can really come up with some

00:30:06 --> 00:30:07

really

00:30:07 --> 00:30:10

powerful ideas inside of our, inside of our

00:30:10 --> 00:30:13

nafs, but it's from our nafs ultimately. It's

00:30:13 --> 00:30:14

not from Allah.

00:30:14 --> 00:30:17

And, the thing that is from Allah has

00:30:17 --> 00:30:18

barakah and that thing that's from the nafs

00:30:18 --> 00:30:20

is chavis, the nafs is a kuti. If

00:30:20 --> 00:30:21

you don't keep her on a chain, she's

00:30:21 --> 00:30:23

a dog. If you don't keep her on

00:30:23 --> 00:30:25

a chain, she'll ruin your entire din.

00:30:26 --> 00:30:29

25 seconds, 15 seconds, she'll ruin everything good

00:30:29 --> 00:30:30

you've done in your life.

00:30:30 --> 00:30:32

And, you have to be very careful about

00:30:32 --> 00:30:33

that. If it's

00:30:34 --> 00:30:37

if it's if it's, been subjugated and obedient,

00:30:38 --> 00:30:39

it will do great good for you if

00:30:39 --> 00:30:41

you let it off the chain. It will

00:30:41 --> 00:30:43

ruin everything that you worked so hard to

00:30:43 --> 00:30:45

make. Years, decades,

00:30:45 --> 00:30:47

a century of work, it will ruin it

00:30:47 --> 00:30:47

in seconds.

00:30:49 --> 00:30:49

And

00:30:50 --> 00:30:52

this is, you know, I remember Sheikh Nuhar

00:30:52 --> 00:30:53

one time in

00:30:55 --> 00:30:56

a Bayan, he mentioned

00:30:56 --> 00:30:59

something very strange. He said that, Shehu Akbar,

00:31:01 --> 00:31:03

Ibunu 'Arabi, once mentioned that the eye of

00:31:03 --> 00:31:04

the Quran,

00:31:05 --> 00:31:08

the person who understood the amazing nature of

00:31:08 --> 00:31:10

the nafs the most

00:31:10 --> 00:31:10

from

00:31:11 --> 00:31:12

mankind was Firaun,

00:31:13 --> 00:31:16

when he said, which was transmitted in the

00:31:16 --> 00:31:17

eye of the Quran,

00:31:19 --> 00:31:22

I am your Lord most high. Meaning that

00:31:22 --> 00:31:23

he didn't know who the real Allah was,

00:31:23 --> 00:31:25

but he knew the physical world. And when

00:31:25 --> 00:31:27

he looked inside of the

00:31:27 --> 00:31:29

the the the the strange and wondrous

00:31:30 --> 00:31:32

powers and abilities of the nafs,

00:31:32 --> 00:31:35

he, he concluded that he must be god.

00:31:35 --> 00:31:38

And, there's a lot of this, like, egos,

00:31:38 --> 00:31:40

you know, Superman, I think, therefore I am,

00:31:40 --> 00:31:41

type of,

00:31:42 --> 00:31:45

you know, type of, thought out there and

00:31:45 --> 00:31:47

there's a vein of truth in it and

00:31:47 --> 00:31:49

that's why those things are so deceptively powerful.

00:31:51 --> 00:31:53

And there's a very dark,

00:31:53 --> 00:31:55

and a very evil,

00:31:55 --> 00:31:59

you know, set of ideologies and philosophies from

00:31:59 --> 00:32:00

Europe that that emerge from,

00:32:01 --> 00:32:03

from this realization of the power of the

00:32:03 --> 00:32:05

nafs. And we ask Allah to

00:32:06 --> 00:32:07

protect us

00:32:08 --> 00:32:10

from all of those things. But it is

00:32:10 --> 00:32:14

possible that somebody using Islam as a gateway

00:32:14 --> 00:32:14

to

00:32:15 --> 00:32:17

convincing people that spirituality is important

00:32:17 --> 00:32:20

and then funneling their own, B grade,

00:32:20 --> 00:32:21

naf spirituality

00:32:22 --> 00:32:24

and nafsik nafsonic energy

00:32:24 --> 00:32:26

onto a person that they can harm such

00:32:26 --> 00:32:26

a person.

00:32:27 --> 00:32:29

And, you know, one last story I wanted

00:32:30 --> 00:32:31

to share before continuing

00:32:33 --> 00:32:34

is a story about

00:32:35 --> 00:32:37

a great share from Arseel Sala Shah Abdulkudus

00:32:37 --> 00:32:38

Gangohir

00:32:39 --> 00:32:42

He predates Durban by centuries.

00:32:43 --> 00:32:44

And he was a great sheikh of the,

00:32:45 --> 00:32:48

of the Tarikha Teshtiyyah in the Indian lands,

00:32:48 --> 00:32:49

in the Indian subcontinent.

00:32:49 --> 00:32:51

So Shah Abdul Qaduz Gangohi,

00:32:53 --> 00:32:55

he he's buried in in Gango,

00:32:57 --> 00:32:59

and his his Mazar in Hanqa and all

00:32:59 --> 00:33:00

that is still there.

00:33:01 --> 00:33:01

He

00:33:02 --> 00:33:04

was known to be a Sahib ul Karamat

00:33:04 --> 00:33:06

in a way that very few people will

00:33:06 --> 00:33:09

even accept as as being possible nowadays.

00:33:09 --> 00:33:11

And so he had and this is a

00:33:11 --> 00:33:12

very strange story, so take it with a

00:33:12 --> 00:33:14

grain of salt. You know, take it with

00:33:14 --> 00:33:15

a grain of salt if you need to.

00:33:16 --> 00:33:18

But, the the point of the story is

00:33:18 --> 00:33:19

what I want you to take from it,

00:33:19 --> 00:33:21

not necessarily you know, you don't have to

00:33:21 --> 00:33:22

believe it as if it's like a eye

00:33:22 --> 00:33:23

of the Quran. In fact, you don't.

00:33:25 --> 00:33:27

But, they say that he had a room

00:33:27 --> 00:33:29

in which he would make muraqabah and dhikr,

00:33:29 --> 00:33:31

that he would meditate and make dhikr in.

00:33:31 --> 00:33:34

And the room had no windows or doors.

00:33:34 --> 00:33:35

There was just a small,

00:33:35 --> 00:33:36

opening

00:33:36 --> 00:33:39

and that, he would make himself water And

00:33:39 --> 00:33:40

through that

00:33:41 --> 00:33:43

small opening, he would pour himself into that

00:33:43 --> 00:33:45

room and then sit there in complete isolation

00:33:46 --> 00:33:48

and do his dikr and marakaba, and then

00:33:48 --> 00:33:50

he he would come out. So, yeah, you

00:33:50 --> 00:33:52

heard me right. Like I said, I made

00:33:52 --> 00:33:53

my disclaimer a minute ago. You can rewind

00:33:53 --> 00:33:54

and listen to it again if you want

00:33:54 --> 00:33:55

to.

00:33:55 --> 00:33:57

And so what happens is one day when

00:33:57 --> 00:33:59

he, enters into this room and he's doing

00:33:59 --> 00:34:02

his, you know, his whatever, thikr and morakaba,

00:34:04 --> 00:34:04

he,

00:34:05 --> 00:34:06

you know, he's interrupted.

00:34:07 --> 00:34:08

And,

00:34:09 --> 00:34:11

he finds in his room with him,

00:34:12 --> 00:34:13

a Hindu

00:34:14 --> 00:34:14

a Hindu,

00:34:15 --> 00:34:16

yogi,

00:34:16 --> 00:34:18

one of their spiritual practitioners.

00:34:19 --> 00:34:21

And he says he says, Milana Saab, I

00:34:21 --> 00:34:23

wanna ask you something. I have, like, a

00:34:23 --> 00:34:24

I just this thing has been bothering me.

00:34:24 --> 00:34:26

I just need to ask you about it.

00:34:26 --> 00:34:27

I need to talk to you about it.

00:34:27 --> 00:34:29

And, you know, I just I had to

00:34:29 --> 00:34:32

ask. So I interrupted your I'm sorry I

00:34:32 --> 00:34:35

interrupted your, your meditation and whatever, but I

00:34:35 --> 00:34:36

just had to ask.

00:34:37 --> 00:34:38

And he says, what? He says, what is

00:34:38 --> 00:34:40

it you wanted to ask? He said why

00:34:40 --> 00:34:42

is it that you Muslims always,

00:34:43 --> 00:34:45

you know, insist that you're right about everything?

00:34:46 --> 00:34:48

Why is it that you insist you're the

00:34:48 --> 00:34:49

only way to the truth, the only way

00:34:49 --> 00:34:51

to Allah ta'ala? You're the only,

00:34:52 --> 00:34:54

you know, the only people who have knowledge.

00:34:54 --> 00:34:56

You're the only people who have the path

00:34:56 --> 00:34:57

to salvation.

00:34:57 --> 00:34:59

He says, why do you have this this

00:34:59 --> 00:35:01

this this dogged insistence?

00:35:02 --> 00:35:02

And

00:35:03 --> 00:35:05

Moa Shabu Taddoos, he says he says he

00:35:05 --> 00:35:07

says, this is the truth. It's from Allah

00:35:07 --> 00:35:09

Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. He goes, I can give

00:35:09 --> 00:35:10

you a million proofs,

00:35:11 --> 00:35:13

if you want to. And the yogi is

00:35:13 --> 00:35:14

like, I'm not interested in your proofs. He

00:35:14 --> 00:35:17

goes, look, you turned yourself into water and

00:35:17 --> 00:35:19

entered into this room. I also turned myself

00:35:19 --> 00:35:21

into water and entered into this room. And

00:35:21 --> 00:35:24

so you have your karama, you have your

00:35:24 --> 00:35:26

miracle, and I have my miracle.

00:35:26 --> 00:35:28

He goes, why you know, like, I don't

00:35:28 --> 00:35:29

see what the difference is between the 2

00:35:29 --> 00:35:31

two of us, you know. Talk to me

00:35:31 --> 00:35:32

on that level.

00:35:32 --> 00:35:35

And so, Hazar Shah Sab says, okay. You

00:35:35 --> 00:35:37

wanna talk on that level? He says that,

00:35:39 --> 00:35:40

meet me,

00:35:41 --> 00:35:42

you know, at such and such time and

00:35:42 --> 00:35:43

bring a bucket and

00:35:44 --> 00:35:46

a piece of cloth with you. He says,

00:35:46 --> 00:35:46

okay.

00:35:47 --> 00:35:48

So,

00:35:49 --> 00:35:51

the 2 of them, they meet and Shah

00:35:51 --> 00:35:52

Sab has his bucket and piece of cloth

00:35:52 --> 00:35:54

and this yogi has his bucket and piece

00:35:54 --> 00:35:55

of cloth.

00:35:55 --> 00:35:56

And,

00:35:57 --> 00:35:59

he says, now turn yourself into water and

00:35:59 --> 00:36:00

sit in the bucket for a minute and

00:36:00 --> 00:36:01

then come out.

00:36:02 --> 00:36:03

And so the 2 of them do it

00:36:03 --> 00:36:04

at the same time.

00:36:04 --> 00:36:06

And when they come out,

00:36:07 --> 00:36:09

it says, now smell your piece of cloth

00:36:09 --> 00:36:12

and smell mine. And other shasabs smelled like

00:36:12 --> 00:36:12

perfume,

00:36:13 --> 00:36:16

and the yogis smelled like najasa, like putridity.

00:36:17 --> 00:36:18

And this is the story.

00:36:19 --> 00:36:20

Now a person may say, well, I, you

00:36:20 --> 00:36:22

know, I don't know if I can believe

00:36:22 --> 00:36:23

that or not, which is fine. I I

00:36:23 --> 00:36:25

get that and I I respect, you know,

00:36:25 --> 00:36:26

like, I I I have sympathy for that

00:36:26 --> 00:36:27

part of a person's,

00:36:28 --> 00:36:30

for that part of a person's reaction. It's

00:36:30 --> 00:36:30

fine.

00:36:31 --> 00:36:33

It's not you don't need to accept this

00:36:33 --> 00:36:34

as a completely 100%

00:36:35 --> 00:36:37

true story in order to understand the precept

00:36:37 --> 00:36:38

behind it, which is what?

00:36:38 --> 00:36:39

Which is that,

00:36:40 --> 00:36:42

which is that, you know,

00:36:42 --> 00:36:45

that spirituality in and of itself is not

00:36:46 --> 00:36:47

where it's all

00:36:47 --> 00:36:48

at. Spirituality

00:36:49 --> 00:36:52

combined with what? Combined with right thinking, with

00:36:52 --> 00:36:53

wusool,

00:36:53 --> 00:36:55

with something that will bring you to Jannah

00:36:55 --> 00:36:56

forever,

00:36:56 --> 00:36:58

with something which will be your salvation and

00:36:58 --> 00:36:59

be your rectification,

00:37:00 --> 00:37:01

that's what you want.

00:37:01 --> 00:37:03

And those people, there are some people who

00:37:03 --> 00:37:05

actually bring a very, very potent and a

00:37:05 --> 00:37:08

very real spiritual experience, but it's not good

00:37:08 --> 00:37:09

for you because it will take you to

00:37:09 --> 00:37:12

the hellfire. And we have this bizarre,

00:37:12 --> 00:37:14

you know, condition that we're in, that we

00:37:14 --> 00:37:16

live amongst materialist people who don't

00:37:18 --> 00:37:18

accept,

00:37:19 --> 00:37:21

even the existence of spirituality. So that when

00:37:21 --> 00:37:22

someone sees spirituality,

00:37:23 --> 00:37:24

you know, comes face to face with it,

00:37:25 --> 00:37:27

they're completely floored. It's a paradigm shift and

00:37:27 --> 00:37:29

people think this must be the Haqq, this

00:37:29 --> 00:37:31

must be the truth and it's not. It's

00:37:31 --> 00:37:33

not. If it doesn't lead you to something

00:37:33 --> 00:37:35

good, if it doesn't lead you to something

00:37:35 --> 00:37:37

better, there's no khair in it whatsoever. And

00:37:37 --> 00:37:39

this is what the beauty and supremacy of

00:37:39 --> 00:37:41

the way of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam

00:37:41 --> 00:37:43

is, is that it's good spirituality, it's good

00:37:43 --> 00:37:47

physicality, it's good mentality, it's good knowledge, and

00:37:47 --> 00:37:49

it's a good beginning, it's a good middle,

00:37:49 --> 00:37:50

and it's a good end. All of it,

00:37:50 --> 00:37:53

there's, beauty and praiseworthiness in it from from

00:37:53 --> 00:37:56

one to the other. So, you know, with

00:37:56 --> 00:37:57

all due respect, I've heard this so many

00:37:57 --> 00:37:59

times over the years,

00:37:59 --> 00:38:01

from people. They say, oh, look at the

00:38:01 --> 00:38:02

path of the oleman, the path of the

00:38:02 --> 00:38:04

madares, and the path of these people and

00:38:04 --> 00:38:05

those it's very dry and I, you know,

00:38:05 --> 00:38:07

it's just not for me. They're it's good,

00:38:07 --> 00:38:08

you know, they learn hadith and stuff like

00:38:08 --> 00:38:10

that. It's very dry. It's not for me.

00:38:11 --> 00:38:13

If you're not going to find spirituality and

00:38:13 --> 00:38:15

knowledge in the hadith of the prophet, it

00:38:15 --> 00:38:17

doesn't exist. If you're not gonna find it

00:38:17 --> 00:38:19

in the Quran, it doesn't exist. If you're

00:38:19 --> 00:38:20

not gonna find it in the books of

00:38:20 --> 00:38:22

fit, it doesn't exist. If you're not gonna

00:38:22 --> 00:38:23

find it in the books of akhida, it

00:38:23 --> 00:38:24

doesn't exist.

00:38:25 --> 00:38:27

Go crack open the go crack open the

00:38:27 --> 00:38:28

kashu mahjub,

00:38:29 --> 00:38:30

and see,

00:38:32 --> 00:38:33

the

00:38:34 --> 00:38:36

wali's wali. You know, you wanna tell oliya

00:38:36 --> 00:38:38

stories, those are the most, like,

00:38:39 --> 00:38:40

just out there oliya stories,

00:38:41 --> 00:38:43

in the world. And if it wasn't that

00:38:43 --> 00:38:45

all of the Ummah bore witness to his

00:38:45 --> 00:38:47

Haymaqam in his station, You

00:38:48 --> 00:38:50

know, both sides of the of of the

00:38:50 --> 00:38:51

divide,

00:38:51 --> 00:38:54

of any divide in ummah, they all, bore

00:38:54 --> 00:38:56

witness to his, great maqam.

00:38:56 --> 00:38:59

People would be forgiven for not, taking,

00:38:59 --> 00:39:01

some of the things he said seriously.

00:39:01 --> 00:39:03

That being said, Bayezid

00:39:07 --> 00:39:08

He mentioned out of all of his,

00:39:09 --> 00:39:12

out of all of his spiritual self mortifications,

00:39:12 --> 00:39:14

mujahhadat, and struggles, the most difficult thing for

00:39:14 --> 00:39:15

him

00:39:15 --> 00:39:17

to, to do was to study,

00:39:17 --> 00:39:19

in particular, to study Aqidah,

00:39:20 --> 00:39:21

to study Ilmukhollam.

00:39:21 --> 00:39:25

Why? Because it imposes on a person a

00:39:25 --> 00:39:26

a a a a logical

00:39:27 --> 00:39:29

framework that the nafs doesn't really wanna accept.

00:39:30 --> 00:39:32

But in it, there's great khair. Obviously, he

00:39:32 --> 00:39:34

wouldn't do it if there was no khair.

00:39:34 --> 00:39:36

And so we continue with the last 2,

00:39:36 --> 00:39:37

3 paragraphs

00:39:37 --> 00:39:39

from this chapter and conclude.

00:39:39 --> 00:39:42

This is examples of virtuous scholars.

00:39:42 --> 00:39:43

It is clear from this that the most

00:39:43 --> 00:39:45

complete and virtuous of scholars are those who

00:39:45 --> 00:39:47

are knowledgeable of Allah and his commandments.

00:39:48 --> 00:39:50

They combine 2 kinds of knowledge,

00:39:51 --> 00:39:52

outer and inward,

00:39:52 --> 00:39:53

outer and inward,

00:39:54 --> 00:39:56

which they receive from the Quran and Sunnah.

00:39:57 --> 00:39:59

They examine what people say on the basis

00:39:59 --> 00:40:00

of the Quran and Sunnah.

00:40:01 --> 00:40:03

That which agrees with these sources, they accept.

00:40:03 --> 00:40:05

And that which contradicts them, they reject.

00:40:06 --> 00:40:08

These scholars are the elite of mankind and

00:40:08 --> 00:40:10

the best of humanity after the prophet

00:40:12 --> 00:40:14

They are the true successors of the prophets

00:40:14 --> 00:40:15

and messengers. By the way, what does it

00:40:15 --> 00:40:17

mean the true successors of the prophets and

00:40:17 --> 00:40:18

messengers? These are the people

00:40:19 --> 00:40:19

who,

00:40:20 --> 00:40:22

with Allah Ta'ala, have mandate and have leadership,

00:40:23 --> 00:40:23

yomukiyama.

00:40:24 --> 00:40:26

If one of these people has a disagreement

00:40:26 --> 00:40:28

with 1 of the other people,

00:40:28 --> 00:40:30

it doesn't matter if the other one has

00:40:30 --> 00:40:31

the money or the

00:40:32 --> 00:40:35

control or the political ascendancy or the sovereign

00:40:35 --> 00:40:37

authority. On the day of judgment, Allah Ta'ala

00:40:37 --> 00:40:39

will treat them as as the rebels, the

00:40:39 --> 00:40:41

ones who rebelled against the system. The system

00:40:41 --> 00:40:43

with Allah ta'ala is that these people are

00:40:43 --> 00:40:45

the ones who are the the successors of

00:40:45 --> 00:40:48

the prophet salayahu alayhi wa sallam. I mentioned

00:40:48 --> 00:40:49

this to you and warn you as a

00:40:49 --> 00:40:51

warning that you and myself that we should

00:40:52 --> 00:40:54

never, be on the wrong side of that,

00:40:54 --> 00:40:56

on the wrong side of that fallout,

00:40:56 --> 00:40:57

lest we

00:40:58 --> 00:40:59

face with Allah

00:41:00 --> 00:41:03

a punishment for, for rebellion.

00:41:03 --> 00:41:04

And,

00:41:05 --> 00:41:06

Bahri is one of the worst one of

00:41:06 --> 00:41:08

the worst of the types of sins that

00:41:08 --> 00:41:09

a person can

00:41:09 --> 00:41:10

incur.

00:41:12 --> 00:41:14

These are the true successors of the prophets

00:41:14 --> 00:41:14

and messengers.

00:41:15 --> 00:41:17

There were many, among the companions of the

00:41:17 --> 00:41:19

prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, including the 4

00:41:19 --> 00:41:20

Khalafar Rashidun,

00:41:22 --> 00:41:24

Saidna Abu Bakr, Saidna Amar, Saidna Uthman, Saidna

00:41:24 --> 00:41:25

Ali radhiallahu anhu,

00:41:44 --> 00:41:48

Al Hasan al Basri, Ata, Tawus, Mujahid, Sayyid

00:41:48 --> 00:41:50

bin Jubeir, Ibrahim al Nafai, and Yahibni

00:41:51 --> 00:41:51

Yahibnu

00:41:52 --> 00:41:52

Abi Kathir

00:41:55 --> 00:41:57

And amongst those who came after the latter

00:41:57 --> 00:41:59

were the likes of Sofia Nathuri, Al Imam

00:41:59 --> 00:42:02

al Oza'i, Imam Ahmed, and others amongst the

00:42:02 --> 00:42:02

righteous

00:42:07 --> 00:42:09

scholars. Has dubbed them

00:42:09 --> 00:42:12

the godly scholars, the Ulamar Abani Yun,

00:42:12 --> 00:42:14

indicating their praiseworthy status.

00:42:15 --> 00:42:17

Their kind is referred to more than once,

00:42:18 --> 00:42:19

and in more than one place in the

00:42:19 --> 00:42:20

Quran, Ali says

00:42:21 --> 00:42:23

of them, the people are of 3 groups,

00:42:23 --> 00:42:26

righteous scholars, students of sacred knowledge, and riffraff.

00:42:29 --> 00:42:31

So either you're one of them or you

00:42:31 --> 00:42:32

sit at their feet

00:42:33 --> 00:42:35

or and Saidna Ali said it. So, you

00:42:35 --> 00:42:37

know, don't argue with me. Don't say that

00:42:37 --> 00:42:39

you're being the supremacist or whatever.

00:42:40 --> 00:42:41

And he said it,

00:42:42 --> 00:42:44

he's the one who about whom the prophet

00:42:45 --> 00:42:45

said

00:42:50 --> 00:42:52

for whoever I'm a mola, I'm a wali,

00:42:52 --> 00:42:54

that this ali is also a wali for

00:42:54 --> 00:42:56

him. He's the one who's Rasuulullah

00:42:56 --> 00:42:59

said about him that this ali, his position

00:42:59 --> 00:43:01

with me is like the position of Harun

00:43:01 --> 00:43:02

with Ibrahim,

00:43:02 --> 00:43:04

except for the the only difference is that

00:43:04 --> 00:43:05

there's no nebbi after me.

00:43:06 --> 00:43:08

And so if he said it, I'm gonna

00:43:08 --> 00:43:10

accept it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You know,

00:43:10 --> 00:43:11

it's no offense,

00:43:12 --> 00:43:14

but, I'm sorry. I'm not going to be

00:43:14 --> 00:43:14

able to

00:43:16 --> 00:43:18

reject it so squarely, so easily.

00:43:18 --> 00:43:20

I'm I'm going to have to be bound

00:43:20 --> 00:43:22

by it because if you have authority over

00:43:22 --> 00:43:23

me today, a day will come where,

00:43:24 --> 00:43:26

the authority of these people will be much

00:43:26 --> 00:43:28

more real than the authority of dollars and

00:43:28 --> 00:43:28

of,

00:43:29 --> 00:43:32

of of, you know, blue passports and of

00:43:32 --> 00:43:35

Democrats and Republicans and of police forces and

00:43:35 --> 00:43:35

armies.

00:43:36 --> 00:43:36

Allah

00:43:38 --> 00:43:40

give us salvation on that day. He said

00:43:40 --> 00:43:41

people are of 3 groups,

00:43:43 --> 00:43:46

the righteous scholars, the students of sacred knowledge,

00:43:46 --> 00:43:46

and the riffraff.

00:43:47 --> 00:43:49

Allah gives the to be from the first

00:43:49 --> 00:43:50

two.

00:43:51 --> 00:43:52

And then he went on at length to

00:43:52 --> 00:43:55

describe the corrupt and righteous scholars. We expound

00:43:55 --> 00:43:57

on them elsewhere in this book.

00:43:57 --> 00:43:59

Allah give us to

00:44:01 --> 00:44:03

be people of beneficial knowledge and be students

00:44:03 --> 00:44:04

of beneficial knowledge

00:44:05 --> 00:44:06

and to not be,

00:44:06 --> 00:44:08

ensnared in the trap,

00:44:08 --> 00:44:10

of the nafs, which will always crave,

00:44:11 --> 00:44:12

which will always crave

00:44:13 --> 00:44:15

that which the the the twisted bring because

00:44:15 --> 00:44:18

of its convenience and its warm fuzzy feeling

00:44:18 --> 00:44:19

that it gives us inside right now.

00:44:20 --> 00:44:21

We should,

00:44:22 --> 00:44:24

not put ourselves through torture right now, but

00:44:24 --> 00:44:25

at the same time,

00:44:25 --> 00:44:27

know that, you know, certain

00:44:27 --> 00:44:28

mistakes and certain

00:44:29 --> 00:44:30

types of foolery that we do right now

00:44:30 --> 00:44:31

is going to put us in,

00:44:32 --> 00:44:35

is gonna put us in much more difficulty,

00:44:35 --> 00:44:36

at a later date.

00:44:37 --> 00:44:39

And, out of love for oneself

00:44:39 --> 00:44:42

and out of desire not to put oneself

00:44:42 --> 00:44:42

through difficulty.

00:44:43 --> 00:44:46

May Allah give us all of the tawfiq

00:44:46 --> 00:44:47

to make good choices for ourselves,

00:44:48 --> 00:44:49

for the for those days,

00:44:50 --> 00:44:51

today. And may Allah

00:44:52 --> 00:44:54

make, inshallah, just like there's a Eid Mubarak

00:44:54 --> 00:44:56

at the end of Ramadan, may Allah

00:44:57 --> 00:44:58

make our yomuqiyama,

00:44:59 --> 00:45:01

the breaking of our fast, and the Eid

00:45:01 --> 00:45:04

Mubarak from our, Ramadan of, of worshiping him

00:45:04 --> 00:45:05

in this world.
