hamdulillah today is the 11th day of the month of Ramadan. And so we'll go through the 11th juices in sha Allah. We took some verses from Surah Toba yesterday. Today we will jump right into Surah Yunus in sha Allah.

So the unis titled after Yunus it was set up and one of the prophets of Allah subhana wa winter Ida whose story we will see right at the end.

Before we conclude for today in sha Allah, throughout this surah, Allah subhanho wa Taala highlights a lot of examples of his signs. So those who ask about signs of Allah Subhana Allah and His greatness, and stories of that being mentioned within this as well and you'll see multiple times when you read through the entire Surah examples that Allah Subhana Allah Allah gives of his signs and when we say the signs of Allah subhanaw data we mean the signs of His greatness. And then to just be on Earth and have something to drink like water and someone gives you a cup of you know, warm water. Water that was just boiled, no tea in it. No coffee, nothing just warm water. You've been fasting all day and they give you

This water like I don't want this water, I want something cooler, so I can drink it faster, that's going to feel like it's quenching my thirst. So that's just an example that we can use here in this dunya of us fasting for a very long day. And then eventually, at the end of the day been given, you know, a cup of water that was just boiled in the kettle and poured into the cup, and now you have that to drink, none of us would really appreciate that water. And, as much will appreciate it, to appreciate it as much as water that was cool, or even room temperature. Right. And so that gives us a little bit of an idea of Allah subhanho wa taala, showing us that, you know, in Jannah, those who

disbelieve those that are there receiving this punishment, they will also be thirsty, they will be extremely thirsty, and they will want something to quench their thirst. And they will be given this boiling hot, you know, drink to drink. And of course, it's not going to be easy, but they will still drink it and consume it. And there's some narrations to talk about, you know how it will boil through and burn their stomachs because of it being so hot. In verse number five of us of handling data says

he is the one who made the sun radiant source and the moon reflected light. Now you can only imagine at the time of the Prophet saw a lot where it was southern having this be revealed to

That the light that we see from the from the moon is actually reflection, right from the light of the sun that we are seeing. And obviously because of the angles of the of the moon and the sun and the earth, then you have different, you know, you have the crescent, and then you have the full moon and the waxing moon and all that. And so Allah, Allah shows, you know, exact things that today we read it and we say, okay, yeah, that makes sense. But put ourselves in the shoes of those who are

hearing this for the first time living in the deserts going, how do you notice? How do you know that it's just reflectively?

This doesn't make sense. Where did you get that from?

And that's really what gets to the hearts of people like Pamela

is that truly what happens and then believing in it as well as in believing that that message is the truth from Allah subhanho to add it because no one else has that knowledge.

And Allah subhanaw taala says, The Sun is a radiant source and the moon reflected light with precisely ordained phases so that you may know the number of years and calculation of time, Allah did not create all this except for a purpose, he makes the science clear for people of knowledge.

Okay, so Allah subhanaw taala, showing us not only is the sun radiant and the moon are reflective, but they are in a perfect flow. And they continue to be that way, constantly, you know, shining constantly, day and night with specific times. And you'll notice this time last year, we had the same amount of daylight, right, that's just the way that it happens. So Allah subhanaw, Medina, showing us he's the one that created and he created it with precision with precision. Now, some people use this idea as well as evidence and proof for following calculations with regards to moon sighting.

So if you're ever in an argument with someone, and then they say, well, Allah says in the Quran that, you know, He created everything precisely. And you know, the sun and the moon and their rotation precisely for us to be able to calculate, you know, months or years and and time, well, we should be able to calculate it. Yes, the calculations gives us an idea. Well, one thing that I personally don't like relying on the calculations is because when people rely so much on calculations, sometimes when the moon is really there, they say, No, it's impossible. The moon can't be there.

And you'd think that we're living in 2022. And this doesn't happen, but it happened just two years ago. When that's when the moon was in the sky. And people who were going only by calculations, said no, it's impossible that the moon it's impossible can't be there. It doesn't make sense. There's no way that the moon

can be in the sky because based on calculations, it shouldn't be there yet. What if Allah subhanaw taala puts it there, it's there. Right? And that is us demonstrating our ERP in our submission in Allah subhana wa Tada

that I submit to a lot I don't submit to the calculations on the paper, or on the electronic devices, and Subhanallah it was really sad. It was really really sad to see that the moon was seen and then I remember and I'm just going on a rant now but just you know to express something to all of you that this was was really sad to see but also to hear what was being said about it that oh, the moon was seen in Africa, you know, they don't understand things so much. This is what someone told me they don't really understand we have more technology than them. So really, a lot of they have clear skies we have polluted skies right? We have pollution in our air we also have light

pollution in our sky in the middle of the night they don't right so don't tell us that they're uneducated and don't know and then what was even worse was one one person there was pilots out there make it easy for all of us you know to have good thoughts on each other one person said they thought this other new moon but they were actually just looking at the moon from the previous month. I was like you know they're two completely different angles right?

So Allah Subhana Allah make it easy for us to be able to be united it is in Omaha and.

down to him? Or say Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam say, the knowledge of the unser Allah alone. So wait, I too, am waiting with you. Right? So wait, I too am waiting with you now. When the previous nations were told that a punishment was coming, the punish, kids came, and they're punished and punishment that completely wiped out nations at the time of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam and afterwards there's no punishment that will come as we learned in Hadith of the Prophet salAllahu alayhi wasallam there's no punishment that will come that will wipe out the entire nation or humanity. Okay, so in previous times, previous prophets that was a reality that could come and

destroy an entire town or city or village, but at the time of the prophets all along, it was Sunday and afterwards, there will be no such disaster that will entirely wipe out a nation. Okay, so here, Allah subhanaw taala showing us that the machines are asking, they want to sign like oh, you know, bring us a sign, bring us a punishment and needs to ask for a punishment. Like bring us some sort of money. If you claim that Allah is true and exists then

Have it, show us destroy everything. And they were saying that thinking there's no way things would be destroyed. There's no way that something would come. There's no way that a punishment would come and must handle it. Adam reminds us here, as we'll see that once the punishment comes, it's too late for you to believe pronounce the punishment cane, now, you're gone, you've, you've perished. There's no time for you to turn back to Allah. So don't challenge the last panel to add in asking for a punishment except what Allah has already given. So in the next verse, Allah subhanaw taala says, when we give people the taste of mercy after being afflicted with a hardship, they swiftly device

plots against our revelations, say to them, oh Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Allah is swifter in devising punishment, Surely our angel angels record whatever you devise. Then in the next verse, He is the one who enables you to travel through land and sea now almost kind of like others giving you example of the ship. right the ship that goes into the water.

And it so happens that you are on these ships, sailing with a favorable wind, right? It becomes fairly windy, but you're sailing, remember, the sail boat, you need wind in order to move. Alright, so wind is good, but too much wind is bad. So ALLAH SubhanA, Allah says sailing with a favorable wind, to the passengers delight, the delight of the passengers, they're enjoying themselves going, this is beautiful, amazing sailing, think of the Titanic, right? Suddenly, the ships are overcome by a strong winds. And those on board are overwhelmed by waves from every site. Now the waves are crashing against the boats. Now, it's not like the Titanic. That's this massive ship that has

engines, no talking about these wooden boats that were made out of logs of trees, and have sails and they're sailing like back in the day, right? And Allah subhanaw taala says, Now the waves are crashing against it from every site, and they assume that they are doomed. So they cry out to Allah alone. Right now they turned to a loss of how am I to add it alone, in sincere devotion. And they ask Allah Subhana Allah to Allah.

If you save us from this, we will certainly be grateful. Right? If you save us from this storm that we're in now, just put yourself in their shoes, again, the waves are crashing against the ship, but the ship itself is going rocking up and down. And if you've ever seen videos, maybe some of you were, you know, sailors, I don't know. My dad was a sailor, that's how he came to Canada. Right. And so I've always been interested to see how you know how the ship functions does. I'm not I don't like being over the water. And subhanAllah when you you know, you just Google there go on you to see a ship going through a storm, literally the front of the ship goes right up and you're staring at the

sky.

And you get over the wave and it comes crashing down and the nose goes right into the water literally in the water. So how do I know imagine these are these massive ships that we have today that are huge, filled with so much cargo weighing like millions and millions of tons, right? And yet Allah subhanaw taala with with the water, the water that we just pour out of the glass, the water that we drink, in a quenches our thirst, the same water is pushing these boats and ships in directions that can't be controlled.

Same water spamela Look at how Allah subhanaw taala shows us his power and light. And in that moment, those who disbelieve call upon Allah subhanho wa Taala had, right? And they asked him if you would save us from this, then we will surely be from those who are grateful. Like we will believe after this. That's it like this You've brought assigned to us we now see that this is a testament.

And in the next verse, Immediately afterwards, ALLAH SubhanA data says, phenom and German once they've been saved, once they reach the shore, and they're on land, right? That's a good feeling. Right? You're on solid grounds. But as soon as he rescues them, Allah subhanaw metathesis they transgressing the land unjustly, they go right back to committing their sins, transgression in their disbelief, write a loss, how to avoid to either says the UN nurse or humanity if every single human being Yeah, it's your transgression is only against your own souls.

When we commit some Rome or some sins, we're not what else Yes, sometimes someone else's heart. But ultimately, it's harming yourself. Even if it's harming

someone else, whether there's another person involved or not, doesn't matter. We are harming ourselves. And so the sins that we commit, have a toll and take a toll against us. You know, last night one of the brothers came in, he asked me, after tomorrow, we were sitting down in my office, and he was like,

I just feel down and I feel like nothing, nothing works. You know, nothing motivates me, no spiritual motivation. And he's like, when I pray, I feel really good. I feel like hamdulillah everything goes away. But the moment I finished Salah, the moment I finish my prayer, I just feel down again, like everything comes back. And I don't know how to get past that.

So I told them, I said, value yourself. Because I'm not going to judge him. We all have mistakes, we all commit sins.

But one thing that we need to do as muslims is value ourselves. First of all, you're a human being. Right? We were born before we chose what to follow. We're human beings who couldn't read we couldn't write your your human being value the fact that you're a human being and you're not an animal, you're not an insect, you're not the wall, you're not the floor, the carpet the table, you're not something else.

In addition to that, you're a believer,

believer and Allah subhanaw taala. He's chosen you from the billions of people that live on the face of this earth, Allah subhanaw taala has chosen you to be amongst the few billion, right the 2.5 billion that are believers in Allah subhana wa Tada.

And Allah says, couldn't do higher on the mountain orphanages. In the US. Of course, this is referring to the Sahaba, particularly at first, right, that they themselves are the first of the people, sorry, the best of people that ever walked the face of this earth. But we follow the example of who Muhammad Sallallahu it was and didn't they follow the example of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi salam, yes. So by default, we are from the best of people that ever walked the face of this earth. So it's telling this brother value yourself, honor yourself, like hold yourself to, to a higher standard. Because he told me, he says, You know, sometimes the people I'm with, I just feel like,

they're not good for me, not a good influence, like so leave them, leave them. You don't need them around you, if you stay away from them. Consider yourself much better, not being arrogant, but holding yourself to account that I'm not going to be around, they're going to hold me down because I don't feel good. I don't feel happy. I pray and as soon as I'm done prayer and see these friends in the class, I feel sad again, I feel depressed. So hold yourself to that standard, raise yourself up that you are from the people that follow Mohamed salah, where it was one of the best people that ever walked the face of this earth.

And so you have something that your friends need that those people need that others around you need. Be the example for them. Don't let them influence you. As Muslims, we should do this hold ourselves to a higher standard. Not with arrogance, absolutely. Not with arrogance. But knowing that Al Hamdulillah this is the way that I've chosen and this is the way I was paired with Allah has chosen for us as human beings.

Sometimes we let me say, you know,

you know, you look this way, you dress this way, you know, Sister wears a hijab, you know, brothers, they look down, they're talking to a non Muslim woman or Muslim woman looked down out of respect, right? And obedience, two of us.

non Muslim, sometimes they make a mockery out of us. Right? Like, what's wrong with you? We can't look at me. You can't look me in the eyes. You can't shake my head. Why can't you shake my head? Out of respect? I don't do that. I'm not my home for you.

The people who are family, the people who are close to you, they can be with you. They can look at you for me. No, I humble myself. And sometimes we feel like we need to get past this, you know, we need to be modern. No, we don't need to be modern. We already are modern. The Way of Allah subhanaw taala is the most modern way for any human being.

It is the best way for any human being to live their life.

So don't think that we are not modern, we're traditional. No, we are the way of Allah subhanaw taala wants us as human beings to be period

and we continue to try to be better always right.

So he gives this example of those who are on the ship and the moment they reach land. Now all of a sudden they turn away from us Pedowitz Allah and he says all humanity you transmit your transgression is only against your own souls. There is only brief enjoyment in this world.

Dunya right, ALLAH SubhanA wa

Add to Allah says that, you know, the enjoyment of this world is only temporary, then to us is your return, and then we will inform you of what you used to do.

So the luxuries of this world are temporary.

We know that, how the law you know, sometimes we think luxuries are in things. You know, like I remember there would be a day when I was younger, I'd be like, oh, man, I'd love to have a laptop. Before, before everyone had a laptop. And we all had desktops at home, like a luxury to even have a desktop computer at home. And you had the was the plugin the internet, right? You were plugged into the phone, Jack at home. And you know, the dial tone, TITI TITI, TITI TITI TITI. Probably, you know, these guys probably don't remember it. But you know, we do. Right? We remember that. And I remember, you know, sitting there going Subhanallah one day be so neat to have a laptop and be able to take

your computer with you wherever you go. Now everyone has a laptop. Children have laptops in schools, right, they have phones, they have tablets, they have smartwatches. But we think it's luxury, we think that that's what this dunya is about.

But really, these things are taking away from the luxuries of this life. They're taking us away from sitting and being happy with our Muslim brothers and sisters, you know, having a nice smile shown to you on the face of someone else, and then smiling back at them, you know, sharing some gy or something nice with another person, being with your children and enjoying the fact that they're growing up, I'm not going to see them like this every, again, they're going to grow. And then I'm going to wish to, but I won't have time to spend with them. Right? Because they're grown up. And so the luxuries of this life, they're temporary. And everything is a temporary luxury, even the

children we have,

but at least the loss of habitat have made some things wholesome for us. And some things a major distraction. Like when we think of the technology that we have huge distractions every 15 seconds during, during, during during messages coming in. Maybe not on your phone, but online.

is constant messages, constant information, information about things we don't need to know. I don't need to know what the weather is like in Pakistan today. I don't

like it doesn't really affect me.

It'd be nice to know what our family is experiencing. But it doesn't affect me. I don't need to know that, you know, some major incident happened in another country, somewhere on Earth.

It's good to know, but I don't need to know. Right? You see, as human beings we're like, we want to know everything. I want to know about this. Someone comes to us. Oh, you didn't know about that. And I didn't know or you didn't know, I didn't know. But you know what's interesting is that we start to know so many things about the rest of the world. And things that's irrelevant to us. It's not really going to change how our day goes.

But then you have a flat tire on your car and you don't know

where your car is in Drive. You forgot to put it in park and you're trying to start it doesn't want to start I just don't know what to do. I don't know.

Like, you know, sometimes as children we say whenever mother isn't home and we're hungry. We don't know what to do we just sit there and wait. Right? We don't know what to do.

Don't know how to get food from the fridge. Just remember my mom used to say that the fridge is full of food. You're hungry, go to the fridge and get food.

Yeah, it's easier for her to warm it up and then give it to her. Oh, wow, this is amazing food. Where do you get it from? The fridge. It was there. You just had to warm it up and put on the on I did. I don't know how to do that.

I remember brothers calm. I was at one brother's house. He's a doctor, medical doctor. And he was giving me something to drink. And I never put ice in my drinks. But he was giving me water and you wanted to get ice. And he was trying to get ice from the fridge. And he was doing he had to go and ask the one who looks after the home. How do you get the ice out of the fridge

and you're a medical doctor.

See, we don't know how to do the simple things in life because we're too busy focusing on other things.

Things that don't make a difference in our lives. And so Allah subhanaw taala showing us these are temporary luxuries the things we spend our time on. Eventually it will be taken away.

And eventually we will be taken away as well.

And so even the people that we sit with and we love, like the other day a family came in and brother Allah subhanaw taala had mercy on him and his children and his wife who passed away and his wife is in her 30s She passed away just

In January last week of January,

they live here in our community. You know, this brother now he's 40 single father, three children. Two of his children are teenagers. He's like, my whole life turned upside down.

Because now I'm the father and the mother. Now, you know, I look after everything at home and everything outside of the home, I drive them to school, I pick them up from school, I make their breakfast, I make their lunch, you know, I come home hamdulillah and you know, he works it so you get to stay home and work for now. You know, he's can do that and work from home. But he's like everything from like, teaching them to brush their teeth on time to clothing them to doing laundry, ironing the clothes, he's like, all of these things, all of it I have to do on my own. He's like, it's too much.

It's part of why we take it for granted the people that were around, but when they return to Allah subhanaw taala. So blessing from Allah. This is what I was telling the children be happy that your mother returned to Allah subhanaw taala as a believer hamdulillah like you, you don't realize it now as children, but you will when you get older, you will be happy and pleased that your mother was a believer and return to Allah subhana wa Tada.

Now the test continues for us. And for them as children. Will you live as a believer? Will you continue to believe when you get older? Right? Will you do things that your mother taught you to do? And stay away from the things that your mother taught you to stay away from? These are things that we need to keep in mind, because this world is temporary. And just as quick as we came into this world, we make you think of where we are right now. The age that you are, however old you are, or however young You're right. Like I see Charlotte Howard, how young you 17 Mashallah, to work. I remember when I was 17, I was like, I don't want to reach 20. Now, I'm 40. And I wish I was 20.

Actually, I'm more than 44 Do you want now? Right? You wish you were 20 we all wish we were 17. Once again, we would do things differently. But think of where you are today.

And it seems like just yesterday, when you were the kid running around your house, doesn't it? You think of your parents you still remember it was like yesterday, some of us our parents are gone returned to Allah subhanaw taala but it seems like it was just yesterday.

And just like that, we will be old. We will be gone. And our children will be saying the same thing about us. Seems like it was just yesterday. We were chilling with them. Seems like it was just yesterday. We saw them in the masjid.

And they're gone. We are gone. Those are our children who will be saying that to their children.

This life is very temporary and goes by extremely, extremely fast. Then in verse number 26, Allah subhana wa Tada says

Lemina Hassan Al Hasina was the, the beautiful idea. Verse number 26 Surah Yunus those who do good will have the finest reward and even more, the lady in axonal Snell with the idea they will get an Eisner was the other they will get goodness because they did good. And they will get even more than that. And this is where it really returned to Allah subhanaw taala constantly trying to do as many good deeds as we can, and the good that we get in return. As believers really what we want is not so much good in this life, right? We can take a little hardship, we want goodness in the hereafter. Because the goodness in the hereafter is much better than receiving the little hardship in the

right. So we take hardship now, Overleaf and we take goodness later having it now. That's the minds lever. Right? There's going to be struggle, that's okay. Because even the preaching of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says even the preaching of the thorn is forgiveness. It's a means of our forgiveness. Just pricking of the thorn, some of us, you know, if someone's diabetic, and they, I know my mom, she hates doing that every single day, puts her finger on this thing to you know, just your finger and get a little droplet of blood out. And because she knows it so well she moves her finger away before it comes out.

You know, just the pricking of the thorn. It's a little annoying, but it's there, okay, it's over in it in a millisecond like split second is gone.

But that's a means of our forgiveness.

If we're patient with it a

little bit of hardship. Okay. hamdulillah take it Barrett something different. Both in life Barrett and his spouse years of going by Barrett, right exam

is difficult. It's okay. How did you learn? Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side to

be happy

with what we have, some brother was telling you that the other day in the office, we were talking, he was saying something. And it was like, you know, sometimes we wish for something. And when you get it, you realize it's not what you wanted. So he was like, Yeah, you're right, the grass is not always greener on the other side. He goes, in fact, the grass probably is never greener on the other side, we should just be happy with what we have, and make the most of it. And that's true, make the most of what you have. So Allah subhanaw taala says, those who do good will have the finest reward and even more in hereafter, neither gloom nor disgrace will cover their faces, it is they who will

be the residents of paradise, they will be there forever and

will continue to do good deeds in this life. And we'll skip through to

a few things wanted to take.

We'll go to verse number 98. Because you know, I said we would end with that Inshallah, verse number 98, of Lhasa panaway To Allah says, about Surah Yunus, a story about Yunus and his son I remember who said this is the surah named after him. Prophet Yunus Allah has sent him is known as what

who was Yunus was the famous for what happened to him.

He was eaten by one

swallow because eaten means he was chewed up and gone, right. So he was swallowed by a whale. Now that in itself when we think of it, like, that's not possible, right? Usually, as human beings are like, No, it's not possible.
