today is Monday, May 3 2021. And it is the 21st day of this blessed month of Ramadan for the hedgy calendar year of 1442. And it is a gloomy day outside Alhamdulillah there's a beautiful mist, and I say Alhamdulillah because it is a day that we enjoy hanging out, we enjoy the fact that it's you know, just just calm, peaceful, the weather is cool, yes, there's a mist, which is kind of nice and pleasant. And hamdulillah we don't live in the United Kingdom, you know, this would be the weather every single day. So Alhamdulillah we get to enjoy this today and hamdulillah it's beautiful weather that we you know, can can cherish and like we always say here in Canada, April showers bring May

flowers, while the showers are a little bit delayed this year, they're pushed off into may as well but Alhamdulillah you know, you see the greenery, you see the grass around you the trees Alhamdulillah you know leaves are growing buds are showing up on on those trees as well and it's just really nice and hamdulillah the rain washes things away and brings brings new life brings life back from the death as Allah subhana wa tada shows us in the Quran, you know, he he brings death to that greenery and the crops and you know, the fields and the plants. And Allah subhanho wa Taala you know, throughout the winter makes everything freeze solid. And then in the spring it comes right

back to life Alhamdulillah that's from the powers and might of Allah subhanho wa Taala.

Today, we begin with the ending of surah, Tila and root. And then we'll move off into sorta room and then sort of look around and a lot of Taylor, there are other sources that we would read that we would cover, if we were citing through the whole Jews, you know, we would recite through sort of such that as well, and,

but we're not going to have time to go through all of it. And that's the challenge that usually arises when we come closer to the end of the Quran. There are multiple su are multiple lessons here and there, like all these different kinds of lessons are lost, and we tally shares with us. And we obviously can't get through every single one of the surah of the Quran, which is why we try to choose different verses every single year to cover and to learn together. And so, you know, those of you who are unaware, it's kinda like I have like all these different color coded dots and spots and marks all over my notes. But also on my device, I have color coded highlighted verses for the years

we've covered so I can see which verses we've covered already, which verses haven't covered, and which years we took those verses. So every single bond, we tried to cover a few more verses of the Quran. And hopefully, hopefully, you know, in a few years we get to claim that we've covered you know, all of the items of the Quran, Allah Subhana Allah make it easy for us to do so. I mean,

the point is not to

and I say this every single year at the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the point is not to

just fly through the Quran, or you know, just speed through the recitation or speed through explanation. You cannot fully grasp everything. If you're going to fly right through it. We need to spend some time right if la did better on Al Quran, right? That board facto comes with time. I know Forgive me there's, you know what, with the rain outside now you hear the cars driving by a lot louder. So let me just close the window since people all the way in Australia are complaining as well.

So now that should that should be much better.

That's interesting. Technology is really interesting humbler with all these notices notifications, you get like people in another, another continent, in fact, another hemisphere.

On the southern hemisphere, people are telling you that there's too much traffic in the background because of the rain, in the cars driving by Allah. One amazing world we live in, right where, once upon a time, if someone traveled to another city, within the same country within the same province, someone who traveled to another city, you know, you would say tawakkol, Allah, Allah, the Amana, Allah, you would give them a hug, they've driving from Montreal to Toronto, and you'd be giving them a hug and I'm ready to come, I don't know when I'll see you again. May Allah make it easy for you and your life and you know, protect you and so on. At least, that's how it used to be. And now

Subhana Allah, that time has changed. And you know, technology is so much more advanced. We don't bid someone Farewell, who's going from Toronto to Montreal, like we used to now we bid that farewell to someone who's going all the way to Australia, or all the way to South Africa all the way to, you know, Malaysia or Hong Kong, Singapore, a different part of the world. And Subhanallah what's really interesting is that while they're there, while they're there, we actually know everything that they're doing. I know, when I would travel to multiple different countries. I'd be at a conference and my wife would message me and she would know exactly what I said in my lecture, she would know

who I run into, you know, friends, and people around the world would let her know, you know where I am and what I'm doing. It's kind of like, she'd be like, Oh, so I heard you went to this restaurant today. Like, how do you know this? She sends me the pictures of like me being seen there, you know, with friends, and they would forward it. So Pamela so the world we live in is really interesting. Once upon a time, we used to think when someone is traveling from Montreal to Toronto, was like, call us you know, we may never see you again for the rest of your life. And now, you know, you can travel to the other side of the world and with the use of technology, you could figure out

everything that's going on in a person's life. Man, Allah subhanho wa Taala allow us to use the technology that we have to our own benefit and for the benefit of the spread of this deep. Right. The benefit of the spread of this Deen of Hannover with Allah And may Allah Subhana Allah protect us from using the technology that we have. And the you know, the, the modern tech I should say that we have, may Allah protect us from using it in a in a harmful way. That takes us away from the remembrance of Allah subhana wa Tada.

As you're walking and going places, you'll be able to read your notifications,

right, you're driving in your car, and your car is navigating you it's telling you where to go, a message comes through, and you receive it in your car, a phone call comes in and you answer it with your voice without even pushing a button, you say answer call, right? And all of a sudden, your your phone or your your car, your device will answer it for you, you know, the technology that we have around us. So Pamela it's, it's low. And Larry, right, it's play an amusement, it's fun, there's so many different gadgets, with so many different things around us so many things that we can benefit from, and so many things that we can get lost in, right, we can get lost in. And that's exactly it

is that this dunya we can get very lost in it. We may set out to find Allah subhanho wa Taala. But we get distracted along the way. How many times do you after fudger, for example, lay down, you're going to go back to bed you say let me put on an Islamic video or something like that a lecture on YouTube or an audio lecture and you're going to listen to it. And you pick up your phone and you get caught doing something else for a half an hour to an hour. How many times do you say to yourself, I'm going to research something Islamic? And as soon as you go on to that electronic device, you're distracted with something else. Right?

How many times do you you know, some handle that even on my you know, on my tablet in front of me.

As I'm teaching, I know that a few minutes ago, you know, something was purchased online by my wife and I see a notification there that this amount was spent in this place.

And that purchase was made. So panela you know the technology can take us away. I could be teaching to you and I'm actually doing something totally different, which I'm not by the way, okay, I have my notes in front of me allows my witness, you know, just just got to make that clear, but I couldn't be right it could be doing something totally different. So Allah subhanho wa Taala is reminding us that this world is

No more than play in amusement. And not only in the electronics and the devices, but the way we live our lives. Like we don't live our lives thinking

that this is just temporary and we're moving off to something more serious. We usually live our lives feeling, I need to go on vacation, I need to have this thing I need to buy that I need to experience this, I need to cross things off my bucket list, right? I got to go and do all these things must have hatillo it's really interesting, my brothers and sisters, is that the Hereafter is really the real life.

The asking about is the life that we're supposed to be working towards attaining a simple example simple example.

You know, I'm on this group with some brothers. And we just have some challenges every now and then that we put out for ourselves like, Okay, let's try and pray Our daily seminar today and stuff like that. And

you know, especially throughout the month of Ramadan, I told myself Alhamdulillah you know, trauma bond, let's aspire to set new goals. Let's make sure that we don't miss the sun relative at all throughout this month of Ramadan. Like, that's a personal thing that I've been trying to do throughout this whole month. Like there shouldn't be a single day that goes by where those 12 Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that he would pray either before or after the compulsory prayers are met and fulfilled. Right. And I was sharing this with our daughter earlier today. So

we prayed

before,

you know, I made, I was praying last summer, she's like, just to write and like no to and then to force them before. Okay, so she prayed two and then two. And then we prayed. And then after that, she was like, let's go, let's go. Like she just wanted to go. I was going to the store, I was going to take her with me to the store, you know, just needed to pick up something for the house. And she was like, let's go, let's go. She's like, Come on. Let's go. Let's go. And I'm like, No, wait, we have to pray to more soon. So you know, we prayed those to some,

and then left. And then when we came home, I was telling others telling my wife that Isla Lena, she didn't only pray for DACA for the HUD, she prayed for some no before the HUD and prayed for her. And she prayed to sum the afterwards. And so I called her over. I said come in, and let me tell you something, right. And she already knows this. But I was just reminding her, said, you know,

there's 12 Sun in the day. There's two before fudger. And then there's two, and then two before the hug. And then another two after the hug. And then there's two after mothered. And two after a shell. And if you pray those, Allah subhanho wa Taala builds for you a palace in paradise. It's an investment that you get in the area. Do you want to house and we were talking about this earlier today? She was like, I want my own room. Right? Oh, my own room. I wish we had a bigger place. And I was like so remember you're talking about that bigger house? Right? Well, now Al Hamdulillah. Allah subhanho wa Taala builds for you this massive home a palace in Geneva even bigger than the houses

that we get in this world. And so our goal as Muslims, right tying it in with what we're saying here, we should be focused on establishing the real estate of the real life in the app era.

And I know we've got real estate agents watching I know for a fact anytime I go live, there's at least one real estate agent, whether brother or sister who's online with us, right? Or there's someone who knows a real estate agent or someone whose house is for sale, or someone whose house just got sold. Or someone who just bought a house, right? We live in Milton Milton is like, every day someone's buying a house and selling a house how long we sat outside yesterday, I was reciting Quran in the afternoon yesterday, sitting outside my wife was was you know, sitting there just few feet away from me.

People walking by neighbors in the neighborhood walking by, you know, on the complete opposite ends of the street, two couples going by and they're like, Oh, we heard you sold your house. Where are you moving to? And this is everyone's Pamela is talking about?

You know, buying and selling houses, right buying and selling houses. But how many of us have been talking about real estate in Africa?

Right. How many of us have been establishing homes for ourselves, cities, towns, not just villages, towns, cities, for ourselves in paradise. Right? beauty of that paradise being built every single day. We should think of it this way that every single day. I'm building my paradise.

Every time I see Subhan, Allah a tree is planted in my paradise. So I come to it. And it's even more lush, it's even more beautiful. It has even more saffron, as sand, or the dirt around our homes is of saffron, and of pearls and rubies, right? And diamonds, and the bricks are gold and silver, how many times do we actually focus on doing that, or we're like running day in that I need to go to Home Depot, I need to buy this paint and I need to do this thing on the wall. And you need to, you know, do this modern design. And I'm gonna, I'm gonna mention something really cool because I actually really like it, you know, modern design, where you get a whole bunch of hockey sticks, and

you cut them the right length, and you put them up there and hamdulillah really nice, right? I love it. In fact, if you go down our street around the corner, there's a house that has, you know, those chairs outside those beautiful wooden chairs. Well, they removed the backing of it, and they made the backing of the chairs out of all these hockey sticks. And it's so cool, like the whole back of the chairs, like, like 25 or 30 hockey sticks on each one of those chairs. She's so beautiful, right? But we build this dunya we spend so much time like okay, I did that now we got to do our gardening, right, all the weeds, we need to pull all the weeds out. Right, we need to add around

that chairs. Yeah, we need to go out pull all the weeds, right? We need to make sure that Okay, let's go buy some plants and plant those plants. We need to get the tomatoes and the cucumbers and you know and hamdullah we have Let's plant some lettuce and you know, maybe a few peppers here and there. Because when you need it, you know when to make, you know, make some food, put some chili in there and hamdulillah you know all these different things that we plant. But as we're planting, there's nothing wrong with planting. There's nothing wrong with gardening. There's nothing wrong with doing the weeds. But we should think to ourselves, okay, at least say Subhanallah once and

we're planting something planting a seed in this dunya at least plant the seed in the athleta Subhana Allah and planting it here. Some Hanawon planting something there. Right? Every single day we focus on it. You know what? I gotta buy a house, I need to work hard. I need a house. I need a house. I need a house. Everyone's focused in this dunya has a house, a house a house? So Pamela, I know people in poor countries will have multiple houses. Right? They have multiple houses. And each one of those houses costs less than the rent that we would pay for a house. In fact, some of those people have multiple houses, all of those houses, the total price costs, what we would pay in one

month's rent over here. So Pamela, right, we need to buy a house we go crazy. But are we focusing on those sooner? And that, you know, I think to myself all the time, Allah made it so easy for us to have a palace built for us in Jenna. But the reality is, when you think of it, it is not easy to pray those son every single day. Like we live at a time. I know, growing up our parents, our you know, the elderly in the community, the uncles and the Auntie's that would take care of us and like discipline us and, you know, tell us you got to pray, pray, you're sending up prayers. And All right, come on. Hello, hello.

Brayson? No, no, like, okay, we're just praying because uncle was telling me to pray.

But they developed something within them that we don't see in our current generation, like the 40 year olds of today, are not praying their son now like the 40 year olds have when we were children.

The 40 year olds of today are not getting up at fudger. Like the 40 year olds of that generation.

The 40 year olds of today are not reciting the Quran, like the 40 year olds of that generation. Every single day after fudger every single evening, right? They would do little things, but they would do them without fail.

We see ourselves nowadays talking so much about how cool things are. It's so cool. Check out these automated donations, right? automated donations, everyone's talking about the automated donations, Mashallah, check this out. Automated donations, you could donate every single one of the 10 nights the last 10 nights to 25 different charities. So, have a look, I just saw this on my phone right before I right before I turned on the live stream. You know, it's like a poster. I didn't read through it, but the gist of it was

the amount of rewards that you can get by automating your donations throughout the month of Ramadan. So you can give just $1 to 25 different charities every single night. And so what you would get every night is this many, you know, this, this charity feeds people. So if it was later to cover, you know, this is all marketing, look at how look at how people try to sell, yes, okay, we're being encouraged to do okay. We're being encouraged to do good but come on.

$1 a night or one charity that feeds people. It's like feeding X amount of meals because they do the math and you say okay, three meals

Every single day for over 1000 months, so it's more than this many meals.

And if you caught, you know, Laila to Qatar this night, and you gave $1 in charity to an orphanage, then it's as though you did this. And $1 here in $1. There. I'm not saying that this is bad. What I'm saying is, look at how we get lost in it. We're so amazed by it, as Muslims are so amazed by it. And so we're like, yo, guys, check this out. This is so cool. And everyone's checking it out. They're forwarding it to each other Mashallah, Mashallah, look at that, it's so cool. Some of us forget to even donate.

And then the other thing that I do have to point out, and it's something that you know, does come to mind, the amount of fees that goes towards processing these donations, like, sometimes there's multiple different donations going to multiple different places, like let's say you have 10 different places you're donating $1 to each night. So $10 $1 each,

what is the percentage of processing fees for each one of those charities that you're giving to? Right? That's something to keep in mind.

Last night, at the masjid, right after we finished our live stream, there's a brother who pulled up and I know this brother, he's, he's sincere, very sincere.

He came in person. And he brought the money. And he brought a pledge form. And he put what he's donating, he put his name and his address and everything. So he gets his tax receipt. And I know people might criticize, but don't he put it there. He says, I prefer to give it this way, I prefer to give you my donation this way. Because there's a zero processing fee here, that goes away from the money, we put our time and energy into it. So yes, the labor is there, I agree to that the labor is there. And that costs, right it costs but if someone is donating their labor Alhamdulillah for larger organizations is different story, my brothers and sisters here looking at charities that are

you know, feeding and, and doing projects internationally, there are going to be fees, please don't, you know, think that to yourself that there's 100%, you know, don't and that's going there. But for our own local massage, this brother, he makes a very strong argument. And he has a very valid point. He says I would rather give my donation to the masjid, in physical money.

And I told him in the past, he said, you know, you can just donate through the machine. He says, you know, though, you told me to donate through the machine. But even if 30 cents, or he says like, you know, depending on the card, 75 cents, 90 cents of my $100 goes to the, you know, the the system that is processing this donation is like Alhamdulillah there's Muslims that own it, there's Muslims that are running it, you know, the money is going to them. But he's like, Alhamdulillah, you know, what beautiful, is that you can give this donation directly yourself. And there's a zero percentage of fee that goes anywhere else, not even a single cent. So he's like, I feel comfortable giving,

he's like, I'll get in my car, I'll drive over here, I'll give the donation, but I'll give it in person.

And look at how the older generation thinks, you know, I am not validating it entirely across the board. But what I'm saying my brothers and sisters is that it makes sense, right? There's always going to be processing fees, there's always going to be processing fees, whether it's a fee, that's financial or fee, that's physical, someone actually doing it. Like there is when when you give a donation in person to our mustard, for example. The processing fee is in energy. Right? We have a hamdulillah some, you know, very trustworthy people who will look after it, they will count it. So their time is going in for free. They're not charging for it there that's voluntarily being done.

Right. But their their time and energy to count it, to sort it and then to go into deposit it. Right. So there is some sort of processing fee, no matter where you go, some people prefer paying it upfront. And so now Alhamdulillah, what you notice is, and I don't know why we're still talking about donations, you know, it's not it wasn't that wasn't on on the menu for today's class, but on hamdulillah it's part of being distracted in this world, right? It's part of what we're talking about.

What some organizations are doing, or some platforms are doing now, which is good Alhamdulillah is that if you donate, they'll tell you afterwards, your donation carries a processing fee of let's say 75 cents, would you like to pay for that as well? And so you can pay it up front so that your processing fee doesn't come out of the actual donation that you're making a lot. That's amazing, right? That's absolutely amazing. I know Subhanallah when I make those donations, I feel like no, I have to pay that processing fee to because my intention is to for example, give $10

are $100 and I don't want part of my donation to come out as a processing fee. So I'll pay that processing fee up front. Right, we should do that. It's just a few extra cents anyways, right? But a few extra cents altogether is a huge amount. So we ask Allah Subhana Allah to make it easy for us not to get lost in this dunya focusing on this dunya alone, we need to focus on the earth era. And one of the ways to focus on the earth era, like I said, is to focus on the sun, the sun and rewetted we can pray them every single day. And Allah subhana wa tada builds a house for us in Paradise, right? We're building our real estate. And you imagine, you can go all day looking at real estate in

this dunya and you miss out on too soon. And you don't get your home in paradise.

Because it was too hard. It was too difficult of an investment to make for the day.

Allah Subhana Allah is merciful. By the time we reach paradise, and we see those homes Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, that'll be absolutely amazing, right? So Allah subhanho wa Taala, then says,

so let them be ungrateful those who embark upon the ship and they remember Allah, but when they reach land, they forget Allah subhanho wa Taala. Right, let them be ungrateful for all we have given them, and let them enjoy themselves for now, for they will soon know,

our brothers and sisters, let's not get lost in

the luxuries of this life.

Let's enjoy them. Because it's helpful, it's permissible. But let's not get lost in it. And what we mean by this, of course, always is that our wealth should be things that should it should be, should be, you know, in our hands, and not affect our hearts, where we work and we strive day and night just for the wealth. And I'll share this, you know, actually, I mentioned this to you the other day, success in this dunya is not based on the amount of income that we make. Success is not, you know, the job that you will have the profession that you have, the position that you have, the businesses that you own, the homes that you own, that you have our own success is with Allah subhanho wa Taala

What is my connection with Allah, that is success. So to say someone is successful in this dunya because they've made it for themselves, their home is paid, they have cars of luxury, they have children who are educated, they have grandchildren who are going to hike, you know, class schools, they have, you know, vacations that they go on, they go for Hajj every single year. That's not success. That's not success.

Success is being accepted by Allah subhanho wa Taala whether you're wealthy, or you have not a single dollar to your name,

that is success. true success is submitting to what Allah subhanho wa Taala has made compulsory upon us. And following that up with what Allah subhana wa Allah has made voluntary upon us from the Sunnah of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam, and following that up with what Allah Subhana Allah has made

he even more voluntary, from the Nuffield, right the nofit that we can do the extra good deeds that we don't have to do at all. But we do them seeking the pleasure of Allah subhana wa whatever had that success my brothers and sisters, and we ask Allah subhanho wa Taala to make us from amongst those who are successful in this dunya but also successful in our favor.

very quickly we'll go through this in sha Allah. That's my intention, at least to very quickly go through it. I know questions came up in front here. Someone was asking, and I'll clarify because we were talking about it. Someone was asking for the sunnen rewetted. Before the there are four son, can we pray them in units of two and two? Someone is asking which charities do I recommend for zeca donations. I don't like to mention,

or go into too many details of charities, online, especially during the live streaming. But if we were to look at other charities, so zeca donations for the cast, specifically here in Canada, I like to encourage

you know, giving Zakat to janaza cat Foundation, deal with the Zika itself in the ways that and hamdulillah I know is being looked after.
