Today's topic by the will of Allah subhanho wa Taala is not one that we hear often about or is not discussed sufficiently. And this is one of the reasons that we should talk about it.

is there a place for love in Islam?

Or what is the relationship between love, and Islam.

And it is common these days to hear some people believing and suggesting that there is no connection between the two, that there is no place for loving Islam, that Islam is, in fact, a religion of hate.

And the sad part about that phenomenon is that when some of us listen to it, we start believing it.

We listen to all these attacks about Islam, and then we notice some of these global events taking place. And we actually start believing that maybe and perhaps, Islam is devoid of love and compassion.

It's about law. It's about strictness, austerity, but it's not about love and compassion. So some of us, especially the young, gravitate away from Islam lose interest in Islam, and gravitate towards ideologies or beliefs or paths and spiritualities that advocate, love and compassion and mercy. So a question that we want to ask, Is there a connection between loving Islam but this is not only about an apology or defensive Islam

it's really about understanding our religion itself better

Think about it.

If love is one of the strongest human emotions, in fact, it is the strongest human emotion.

And the question is the natural question that follows is, What place does this emotion have in Islam?

Does it or does it have any relationship?

And we'll try inshallah, to answer this question based on the book of Allah and based on the center of His Prophet sallallahu wasallam. And there are all the commands of Allah subhanho wa Taala that he had revealed from A to Z, all of them are in the service of love.

That love is the secret he calls it of La ilaha illAllah Muhammad Rasulullah it is the secret of Islam. And it is what Allah wants from you.

And it is what Allah subhana wa Taala will reward you for so on the day of judgment when Allah will have a heaven and hell, people will be divided in both of these places based on love, based on their love of Allah subhanho wa Taala. So all of this is happening because of love. He says, in fact, that every single movement that takes place in this lower realm, on this earth, and in the heavenly realm, in the skies, every single movement happens because of love. Because we always are moving. And every movement has a has an intent behind it has a desire behind it. And that desire is love.

Ask yourself what motivates you to do something.

So one of these one of three things, either because you love something or you're afraid or you hope for something. So one of these three. And these, by the way are the pillars of worship in Islam. But one of these three,

and the primary among these three emotions, love, fear and hope. The primary one among them is love. The two other two are secondary that feeds the primary. I'll give you an example so that we can understand this person is afraid of death. That's the emotion of fear. A person desires to live longer and to be healthy. Why does he have that hope and that fear because he loves life.

A person is afraid of losing his money and has hope have a better job and better investment so that he can increase his wealth. Why does he have that hoping that fear because he loves money? You follow me?

If we were to imagine that drug club is no longer present, a person loves his life no longer a person loves money no more than he will have no fear and no hope of a person doesn't love money anymore. He will not be afraid of anyone takes it from him and he would not want to add anything to it. So it all comes back to love.

And he's saying that whatever Allah subhanho wa Taala commands and allows in this world he either loves directly he wants it to happen or he loves indirectly that is the consequence of that thing is beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala so whatever Allah He allows either he loves directly or he loves the consequence. Example, Allah subhana wa tada loves, that you will believe in him. Allah Subhana Allah Allah loves that you will love him back. Allah subhanho wa Taala does not love that to make you sick.

Allah subhana wa tada does not want your illness. But Allah subhanaw taala wants the consequence of that illness, not illness itself a lot derives no pleasure from making anybody sick. He does not need to make anybody sick. But Allah loves what the consequence of what happens. And what is that consequence that you will remember Allah subhanho wa Taala that he will purify you from sin, that you will increase compassion in your heart for people who are around you. All of these things are beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala

Allah subhanho wa Taala

one of his names that you will find in the Quran is Allah dude.

And the meaning of Allah dude

is the one who loves and is loved and the one who puts love in the hearts of his creation.

The one who loves that's the first meeting.

There is one of the names of Allah subhanho wa Taala and one of his attributes is that he loves and is loved back. And when we know and when we investigate the meanings of the names of Allah subhanho wa Taala we understand that there is perfection behind them. That it's not just simply that Allah loves Allah subhana wa tada loves perfectly without any deficiencies and shortcomings in his love. That is, Allah's love is perfect. That is a love loves you more than you can ever love him. Allah loves you, more than any other human being can love any other human being.

When the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says in another Hadith,

All the mercy that you will find in the hearts of mothers, and parents, and children, and animals, etc, etc, all of that if you take it and you combine it, all of that will be less than the mercy of Allah subhanho wa Taala.

It's the same thing with love.

If you're to take all the love that you encounter in your life that you will have received from your parents, from your spouse, from your children. And add to that the love that your neighbor has enjoyed and your other neighbor has enjoyed and all of humanity from the time of Adam, to the last person who will exist on this earth and put it all together. All of that combined will be less than the love of Allah subhanho wa Taala has for you. Because Allah subhanho wa Taala loves in ways and in magnitudes that escaped our comprehension.

Imagine the highest point of happiness that any person any human being can reach. Just imagine how happy Can you be, the happiest you will be is when you think that you're going to die. And then you find out that no, you're going to live well you are desperate of living anymore. And you will find no that Allah subhanho wa Taala is allow you is going to allow you to live your life is the dearest thing to you.

That's the maximum happiness that we can imagine.

And yet the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam says Allah is even happier than that. When you come back to him,

Allah is happier than your greatest happiness when you come back to him. So we cannot imagine the happiness of Allah Subhana Allah to Allah we can only approximate it and we cannot imagine the love of Allah subhana wa tada we can only approximate it. So the love that Allah subhana wa Taala has for us and how he loves is greater than any love that we have received from anyone around us.

And how much Allah subhana wa tada is loved also

is greater than any love that we can give to any other human being.

Just notice the prophets of Allah.

Yes, we love our parents, we love our children, we love people who are around us. But when we decide to actually fill our hearts with the love of Allah subhanho wa Taala

it will be like the hungry person finding food and the thirsty person finding water. Our hearts are ultimately seeking the love of Allah, seeking that love that will secure us from any pain, seeking the club that will protect us from any harm seeking that love that will never leave us seeking

That unselfish love, that doesn't want anything back from us, only wants us. That's what we are looking for that unconditional love that they talk about. And any human love is conditional love.

Every single human love that you will encounter is a conditional love. And that's not necessarily a negative, that is a reflection of our own weakness and poverty, because we need something from other people. Allah subhana wa Taala planted love in our hearts why so that we can come together. Without that love, the mother will not take care of her children, without that love that children will not take care of their parents. Without that club, there will be no union and people will not procreate and take care of their children. A lot brought us together in love because we need each other and that love brings us closer. So when a person when a human being loves another human beings, they

always want something back from them.

That is our need our Hajj our deficiency.

They want love back, they want money, they want protection, they want always something back from you. except Allah subhanho wa Taala he does not want anything from you. He wants you for your sake. That he gives you a lot and as to the war a little in return and he says I will compensate you immensely for an eternity in heaven. If you just love me and turn back to me.

So the love that Allah subhanho wa Taala has for his creation is unmeasurable

and the love that people will have for Allah subhanho wa Taala is greater than any love that they can have. Once they decide to turn to Allah subhanho wa Taala is greater than the love that they will have for their parents and their children and any other living human being.

And if he loves you, He will never allow any harm to come your way especially on the Day of Judgment. So if we want security from Allah as punishment, if we want that

And if you're close to Allah subhanho wa Taala he will increase that love in the hearts of his creation, so that more and more people will love you as a result of Allah's love for you.

And that is the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala that should make us love him more. That everything good that had happened to me happened to me because of Allah, every love that I've received, every good moment that I had I had because of Allah subhanho wa Taala and His love is even greater. He's truly the one that should be loved In fact, because of it more than any other human being. He's the one that should be thanked for that.

So Allah loves you before you start loving Him and He loves you afterwards.

And in the famous Hadith
