My beloved brothers and sisters,
I want to make it crystal clear
that which I'm about to speak about my
brothers and my sisters does not involve
inciting violence
or harassment
towards the monarchy
or any minority group like the LGBTQ
or any other individual that walks on the
face of this earth.
Normative Islam is under attack.
It is so sorry to say my beloved
brothers and sisters,
that holding on to your religion
has today become something that is verified,
abnormalized.
You are scrutinized
for being
someone who
just holds on to his religion.
And the Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, he
told us in a hadith,
Islam started as something strange
and it will come back to being something
strange. The Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam then
said,
glad tidings to those
who are strangers.
He the messenger salallahu alaihi wa sallam was
asked, who are these strangers?
And his response was,
They are the ones who are going to
rectify
that which my ummah has corrupted.
In another narration, we are told
When the people now go astray, they become
corrupted,
right?
There will be these these
strangers
who will hold on to their religion.
They will remain steadfast.
They are the huuraba.
The Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, My beloved
brothers and sisters, and without a shadow of
a doubt we are living in these times.
He said,
Islam will fade away
up to the point where you will not
know
the basics and essentials of your religion.
People will not know
a zakah, they won't know asiyan,
fasting, the intricacies of the salah will what?
Deteriorate.
It will diminish.
People will
start becoming
ignorant of basics and the fundamentals of their
religion.
You know my beloved brothers and sisters,
the reason
why we see
so much
misguidance spreading amongst the Muslim Ummah.
Would it be fair to say that
a huge cause
is because we've become negligent
in conveying
the deen of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Let me give you guys an example of
the LGBTQ
minority.
Right?
Even though subhanAllah they are a minority. However
every single member of theirs
plays an active role in spreading that which
they stand for.
That which they call to.
You click on one of these hashtags on
Twitter,
it seems, subhanAllah, that they are the majority,
when in reality they are like a drop
in the sea.
And the reason for that is every single
one of them is playing an active role
in spreading that which they stand for.
Sheikh Ullissam Taymiy Rahmatullahi,
my beloved brothers and sisters, he says the
following.
That which you see appearing amongst the Muslim
Ummah of innovations
and also misguided practices,
The cause for that is
when the people
who are meant to be conveying the message
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
became negligent
in spreading the Haqq, the truth, the sunnah
of the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and that
which a guided practices.
Also Sheikh Ull Sameh Tim He says
Whenever there is a negligence
on those
who call to the prophetic guidance,
you will see that the innovations
will start having a stronghold on the community.
Tatar
was only able to overpower
the Muslims in the east.
Why brothers and sisters?
When Al Falsafa,
philosophy started becoming
rampant within
the community and also when the Sharia became
weak.
Ibn Taym Rahmatullahi alaihi. My beloved brothers and
sisters, he says the following.
He says,
when Al Ilhad,
denying Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala's existence,
and also innovative practices
and misguided
affairs
became rampant
amongst the Muslims. Where? In Sham,
which is considered today
Syria, Lebanon, and so on and so forth.
And also Egypt, Wal Jazeera.
Allah
sent the kuffar onto them. They were overpowered
by the kuffar.
However,
However, when they established al Islam
and they also overpowered
those who were denying the existence of Allah
Subhanahu wa ta'ala. And those who were spreading
innovations,
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
gave them victory over the kuffar.
My beloved brothers and sisters, the nukuulat
are many. Right? The statements of the scholars
are many with regards to that which we
are speaking about here. And that is my
brothers and my sisters, when we became weak
in conveying the message of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala,
you find
that
normative al Islam
has become abnormal in the eyes of the
people. And I will conclude insha Allahu Ta'ala
with this one point here,
You may ask, why do I keep quoting
Ibn Utaym
who passed away in the year 728?
With these quotes, my brothers and my sisters,
doesn't it give us the idea that he
was someone who had,
who had an in-depth understanding
of what happens the moment we let go
of our religion. He says,
He says and when the Muslims now begin
to experience weakness
and find the enemy having overpowered them, then
the cause for this is their sins and
their transgression.
He also, Rahmatullahi, he says,
Surin al Kufari,
wal Hindi
was seen, SubhanAllah.
He said this over 700 years ago. When
the people of the East,
they established Al Islam, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
aided and assisted them and gave them victory
over the Kufar and the Mushrikeen from amongst
the Turks,
the Hind, the Indians and also the Chinese.
He's not alive today brothers and sisters. However,
he's saying this over 700 years ago. SubhanAllah.
And then he says
However,
when innovative practices
and also Ilhad
and transgression became widespread,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gave the Kuffar
victory over the Muslims. My beloved brothers and
sisters,
a core fundamental symbol of our deen is
to love and also dislike for the sake
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
This is the very basis
for everything that we do and say and
live for. Whenever we adopt
something it is because it is something that
is beloved to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. And
whenever we refrain from something it is because
that this is something that is disliked to
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. The Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, he mentioned in an authentic hadith.
The pinnacle point of your faith is for
you to love for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
and for you to dislike
and despise for His sake. The Messenger Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam, He also told us in another
hadith,
Whoever now loves for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
and he despises
for his sake, he gives for Allah Subhanahu
wa ta'ala's sake, and he holds back.
For the sake of Allah's
this individual, my beloved brothers and sisters, has
completed his iman. In another narration we are
told, Hadid Abdulai Bin Umar
Whoever imitates a group of people, he will
become like them. Also Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
he
mentions
You will not find
believers
who truly believe in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And also in the last day showing love
and affection to those who oppose Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and His Messenger sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. My beloved brothers and sisters, why
am I mentioning all of these different narrations
and statements of the scholars wallahi,
what really really broke my heart was
seeing them young children
who
became a meme on social media.
They became a meme on social media
because of their responses when they were interviewed.
Singing the national anthem in the House of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. My beloved
brothers and sisters,
right? It is very very clear that the
non Muslims, they have an agenda
in order to
brainwash our children,
in order to pollute their minds. Whatever they're
trying to do is not in the best
interest of Al
Islam
If we as a community
don't do anything about
teaching our religion, do not be surprised
that they wake up tomorrow
and they are questioning
the fundamentals and the core of their faith.
Many many years ago back in 2015,
I used to give lectures. Right?
In many of the Masaajid up north,
I would say to the parents,
you shouldn't be surprised
if your daughter wakes up tomorrow and she
says, Dad,
I want to marry Mark.
I want to marry Bob and John. This
is not something that should surprise us. Right?
Some of the parents they would look at
me and they would say, you know what,
maybe this guy is not the right person
for the job here. Maybe we should get
someone else to speak about these very important
topics that are sensitive.
I would also mention, and this is when
it got extremely problematic
among some of them,
don't be surprised tomorrow
if your son wakes up and he says,
Dad,
I want to have a relationship with Mark.
This is Muhammad saying this.
Or when your daughter Khadija wakes up and
she says, O father,
O mother, I want to have a relationship
with Charlotte.
This is not something that is far fetched.
Every other week brothers and sisters, I am
dealing
with a case of this kind.
Receiving these phone calls, can you come and
speak to my daughter?
Can you come and speak
to my son?
We have become victims
of fear mongering tactics
and also being terrified
of speaking about that which
is fundamental Islam, brothers and sisters.
They will use these fear mongering tactics
or these jamming tactics to label you an
extremist
or a fundamentalist,
when in essence, we have been told to
hold on to the core of our religion,
especially in times of fit in. And they
have what succeeded
in making us take steps back
when we should actually be taking steps forward,
holding on to what Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
wants us to hold on to. My beloved
brothers and sisters,
this is the life of a Muslim.
This is the lens through which the Muslim
looks at everything in the world. The Yahstik
by which the Muslim measures everything around him
or her. This is the basis
upon which the Muslim
makes every moral decision,
deeming anything
to be good or bad, loving for his
sake and also disliking and despising for the
sake of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. And this
is what is translated into Arabic to be
Hiding or ignoring this fundamental to our faith
is disingenuous
and will do us no favors. My beloved
brothers and sisters,
if we just look at the definition of
Al Islam,
right? You ask our children today, tell me
about Pythagoras theorem. A squared equals b squared
plus c squared. They know it inside out.
Ask them about evaporation,
condensation,
and iteration,
and all of the other shaytians. They know
it
letter by letter. But when it comes to
the definition of Alisa, my brothers and my
sisters,
are we as parents
even aware of what it actually means? Many
many years ago I stood outside of a
Masjid
in Lesta,
interviewing
the young children who had prayed with us.
What is the definition of Islam?
Many of them will say, Al Islam is
a way of life.
Right? Some would say, Islam means peace. Is
that really what al Islam means?
These different definitions that the children gave me
are a part of what al Islam is.
However, this is not the definition. So what
is the definition
of
al
Islam?
That you submit
to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala with a tawheed.
You are obedient to Allah with
the acts that you carry out with your
limbs.
And the 3rd component my brothers and my
sisters, it is what
To
free yourself from shirk, and dissociate yourself
from the shirk practices that people carry out.
It's very very important my brothers and my
sisters that I point out something extremely important
before I am misunderstood.
Hating something or disliking something
does not necessitate
that you are now going to incite
violence or harassment
towards that which you dislike.
You have the vegetarians
who hate meat with a passion.
Would anyone in their right mind start attacking
people because
they hate meat?
Do you see them going around fighting against
the sheep and the cow?
Likewise my brothers and my sisters, if I
as an individual
hate birds,
I hate them with a passion,
right? Does it make sense now for me
to start attacking
all of these birds and slaughtering them?
Does that make sense my brothers and my
sisters?
This is all we are saying,
right?
Al Islam
does not
instruct you now to conform
to the different ideologies
that my brothers and my sisters
is
problematic to the Sharia, in contrary to the
Sharia.
Having said that my beloved brothers and sisters,
the concept of
loving
and also
despising and hating
goes hand in hand with the Samaha
of the Sharia,
the tolerance
and the peace that Al Islam stands for.
We
as law abiding citizens,
are not allowed to start oppressing even the
non Muslims
in light of the Sharia.
This is not something that Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala would be pleased with.
We,
as Muslims,
have to abide
by the law of the land.
Right? And there's many many different narrations for
that. Likewise my brothers and my sisters,
if you have parents that are non muslims,
does al Islam say to you they should
cut off your parents? The answer is no.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says
If they strive against you in order to
commit shirk, then don't listen to them. However,
be dutiful to them and kind towards your
parents. This is al Islam brothers and sisters.
Likewise,
al Islam does not encourage us to cheat
the government,
something that is pretty
prevalent in many different communities,
claiming to be single, separated from your spouse,
just so you could pick up a little
bit more money.
Al Islam is against all of these different
types of oppression. And the Messenger salallahu alaihi
wa sallam himself told us,
Be fearful of the dua of the person
that you oppressed,
even if he's a kafir,
even if he's a disbeliever,
he make he may make dua against you
and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
will end up accepting this dua. My beloved
brothers and sisters,
I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to benefit
us
from
what
we had.
My beloved brothers and sisters,
following the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January 2015,
politicians
and also the leaders of the world,
they came out
to stand in solidarity.
With who? With our Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu
who was humiliated
and verified
and had his honor
ripped to shreds, Lao Allah.
They came out
to boldly assert
what they stand for, which is what? Freedom
of speech. And not just that,
but also the right to offend.
They stood in solidarity with the French cartoonists,
who depicted
our beloved Muhammad
Who created
*
caricatures
of the Messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam
About a prophet
who is revered
at the time by 1.5
1,000,000,000 Muslims. And of course now it's more
than that, 2,000,000,000 and counting.
Freedom of speech, brothers and sisters,
this is what they came out
to really
defend. And not just freedom of speech, but
also the right to offend. And I'm not
even here to offend anybody. As I mentioned
time and time again, we are not here
to incite violence
or harassment towards any
individual that walks on the face of this
earth.
My brothers and my sisters, I want to
speak a little bit about the death of
the Queen.
When the Queen passed away,
there were statements
abound
from non Muslims who were calling for the
abolishment
of the monarchy.
But rarely
would we find Muslims
who feel that they are able to express
such sentiments
because of the fear of consequences
in the shadow of the prevent strategy.
Many Muslims feel that the only reaction
and sentiment that they are allowed to express
is glorification
of the queen
and everything about her.
To whitewash
all of the murder,
atrocities, and plunder that has occurred in the
name of the monarchy historically.
Let's see what one of the non Muslims
had to say, and I quote, because I'm
only here to quote.
Kahinda Andrews,
who is an author and also academic,
he holds a role at Birmingham City University.
Look what he said my brothers and my
sisters about the late Queen the second,
Queen Elizabeth the second.
He called her a figurehead
of white supremacy, and I'm just quoting here,
brothers and sisters. A non Muslim who is
a professor in Birmingham City University,
He called her a figurehead of white supremacy,
author and professor of black studies.
Right, Kahinda Andrews also said
that he would not be mourning
the death of the queen.
It's a non Muslim brother and sisters.
He also described the queen
as a symbol of colonial nostalgia and empire,
and said the fatal shooting
of an unmarked black man, Chris Kaaba,
by a police officer in London earlier this
month, should mean more to society
than the succession
of King Charles the third.
Although we saw her a lot, I can't
remember
anything she ever did. So it's fair to
say that the queen was a figurehead and
a symbol.
And to conclude this point my brothers and
my sisters, he said the following. I'm not
happy that she's dead but all people die.
And yes, it's sad in that sense but
it's not for me to mourn.
Why is it my brothers and my sisters
that when a non Muslim says this we
might
feel inspired?
Right? And like I said,
we are not here to incite
violence
or harassment towards anyone. We are just saying
hold on to your religion.
Hold on to the core and fundamental
of the deen of al Islam.
Which is the essence of
loving that which Allah
loved, and to dislike and despise
that which Allah
despised my beloved brothers and sisters.
The last point that I want to make
mention of today, my brothers and my sisters
is, should Muslims
sing God Save the King?
Singing the national anthem has never been an
Islamic tradition.
As Muslims, you can just imagine
the terror our forefathers would have felt in
the lands that were colonized,
with all the brutality that went along with
it,
when they heard this anthem.
Furthermore,
prayers such as, God save our Gracious KingQueen,
go against the spirit
of loving,
and disliking, and despising
for Allah's
sake.
If that monarch is someone who is unjust
or rejects Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, then that
which is upon us is to make du'a
for them. That Allah
guides them. Can you imagine Ibrahim alaihis salatu
wasalam
standing around singing the national anthem, brothers and
sisters?
He who Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, referred to
as the perfect example,
Allah says you have a perfect example in
Ibrahim alaihis salatu wasalam
Him and also those who followed him
Allah save me and also my family from
what that from that which they do. So
we say,
Allahu Akbar.
