Abu Taymiyyah – Can I Pray Again After Finishing Taraweeh With The Imam

Jamil, very good question. The prophet's asking,

the messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said the

last prayer that one should pray in the

night is what?

Alwitter. So when a person now, he prays

with the Imam,

okay,

and he

has just finished following the Imam in the

winter,

Is he allowed to go home and make

another prayer? The brother is referring to the

hadith of Nirmaliwalahu ta'ala an when he said,

make the last prayer that you pray at

night the witter prayer.

But also he wants the reward with the

Imam.

Because the messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, he

said,

Whoever prays with the imam until the imam

finishes, he gets the reward of praying the

whole night.

Okay?

So now, obviously you can't necessarily just leave

the prayer because he's not going to get

that reward.

And you can't pray another wither later on

in the night.

Okay? Because of the other hadith, There's

no 2 withers, you can't play 2 witzers

in the same night. So what do you

do?

If you now follow the imam

and he is now about to do the

last rakah, You pray the last rakah with

him

but before that you make the intention of

making the salah mythna.

So when the imam finishes, you stand up

and you pray an extra rakah.

But you have finished with the imam.

You finished with the imam but you've done

something extra, you remain. The mrsal alaihi wa

sallam said, Whoever remains praying with the imam

until he finishes.

That's what hadith says,

until he finishes. And didn't you do that?

Why the fatwa?

There's a fatwa of many scholars,

so if you wanna get like, you know,

later on, so I do that sometimes,

you know.

I pray next to rakka and then because

maybe I wanna pray later on.
