00:00:33--> 00:00:35

welcome everyone to this lecture entitled

00:00:36--> 00:00:37

spiritual accounting.

00:00:39--> 00:01:11

As people who are used to conducting business on a daily basis, whether that be at a micro level or a macro level, we are definitely every single one of us used to conducting some sort of business on a daily basis, right? When you go to the marketplace, there's some business that you do when you if you happen to be a businessman or merchant, if he happened to be an investor, there is some sort of business that you do all of us do some degree of business, and we've been doing it for years. Since we happen to be children, we've been doing business and slowly but surely,

00:01:12--> 00:01:20

depending on how much business we were conducting, and we've conducted, we have mastered the art of doing business within this world, okay.

00:01:21--> 00:01:21

And

00:01:23--> 00:01:30

this means that we know all of the phases that we have to go through in order for us to have a successful business deal.

00:01:31--> 00:02:10

We think about the type of conditions that we need to make with the person that we will be doing business with, right? We think about after we make those conditions to oversee every single thing that occurs in the process of that transaction, even if it's something very, very small, you're hiring someone for a service at your house to fix up your lamp or your light or something of that nature. You know, some plumbers coming to fix something, it's a small little transaction, you're going to make some conditions about how you want the job done. And after you make those conditions you're going to look into, you know how this person is doing that job as well, you're going to

00:02:10--> 00:02:21

observe throughout watch. And you know very well that some people when you end up hiring them, and you don't watch every single thing that they're doing, they won't do the job, right.

00:02:22--> 00:02:23

We all know about that.

00:02:25--> 00:03:01

And there are other people However, they will do the job, right, they have more integrity and more honesty, and that's within the world as well. So we have the example of people who have integrity. And we also have other examples as well. But nonetheless, we don't take our chances. When you bring a plumber home, you watch everything that they're doing when you bring someone to fix up your walls or something of that nature. You watch what they're doing. When you bring in electrician, you keep an eye out on every single thing that they're doing. If you happen to be an investor and you buy a place or you invest into a specific place, and you bring yourself a fund manager, you keep an eye

00:03:01--> 00:03:11

out, ensure that that manager is doing his job right. Now, once you're done with all of that, then it comes time to take things to account, then you start looking into

00:03:12--> 00:03:53

the accounting, you start making sure that every single penny has been accounted for you start making sure that every single bit of the money that you invested into the into the business, it added up at the end of the day. And if it doesn't, then what do you do, you start bringing yourselves into penalty mode, you start penalizing the person that you're transacting with. And it goes both ways. Okay? Even yourself, when you're hired and you don't do your job, right, your employer will tell you that there's some penalties for that, you might end up losing a portion of your monthly salary. Or if you're a person who has been contracted, then you might lose some of the

00:03:53--> 00:03:58

money because you're delayed, you had a certain day to make sure that you, you deliver by right.

00:04:00--> 00:04:04

So that is how we conduct our business on a daily basis. Right.

00:04:05--> 00:04:32

And Allah has dealt with jail time. And again, he calls our transaction with Allah azzawajal a business, right? The jaw, he calls it a business with a lot of winners that he was gentle. So it's only understandable in that light. And it's only understandable when we consider that, that we're going to have the same phases that we go through in our regular day to day business. When we do business with Allah subhana wa Tada, right.

00:04:33--> 00:04:59

And so just as we put ourselves to account, and just as we go through all of the all of the preconditioning before we get into the contract, just as we define the terms of the contract, just as we have oversight, just as we bring the person we're contracting with to account at the end of it or we are brought to account and just as with there's penalties involved, similarly when you're doing business with a live agent, all of these stages are there.

00:05:00--> 00:05:03

Right. And this is what they call murabaha.

00:05:04--> 00:05:09

Spiritual, what I loosely translated as spiritual accounting, okay?

00:05:10--> 00:05:14

Perhaps a closer translation might be spiritual guarding

00:05:15--> 00:05:17

spiritual security.

00:05:18--> 00:06:03

But if we really want to understand what this word means, contextually, then we can say that it means spiritual accounting, okay? And the scholars of Islam, they've said that there are different phases for this spiritual accounting that a person has to take. And we have to do it, every single one of us if we want to make a move forward. You know, as a businessman, there are quarterly goals that you have to meet you and I know that and everyone who's worked within this scope, and that's most of us we know that. Similarly, when we're dealing with allies origin, we have to be even more keen. Why is that? Look, if you lose a penny, in this world, it's infinite, it's finite, against

00:06:03--> 00:06:15

finite. But when you lose a moment of this life, and the reward or the punishment is in the Hereafter, or the remorse in the Hereafter, then it's finite against infinite.

00:06:17--> 00:06:38

Your life is finite, that moment could equate to infinity of bliss. Okay? Keep that always in mind when you say Subhan Allah when hamdulillah Allah, Allahu Akbar, where every single time you do Likud, you're filling up a gap within your infinite abode.

00:06:39--> 00:06:42

Just by taking a moment out of your finite world for that.

00:06:44--> 00:07:05

And when you think of that, then things start to fall into perspective. So if you are so keen on the finite world, meaning that every single penny you're keen on ensuring that you don't lose, then why wouldn't you have that same level of keenness? Why wouldn't I have that same level of keenness when we're dealing with a law and we know the reward or the punishment is infinity.

00:07:09--> 00:07:11

And that's why we have to bring ourselves to account

00:07:12--> 00:07:56

and when we bring ourselves into account, the first phase look a lot has been spiritual accounting training, this, Allah has made the entire matter of the hereafter related to the soul. I mean, this is something that Allah spoke about in so many places in the Quran. Again, and again you hear the word enough's in the Quran, yo Mataji, Dooku, Luna, FSI ma millet, Min, Hiram, dada, Mama, I mean, it's been so intelligent doodle and avena however, you know, emerged and buried, that on that day, every soul every soul is speaking of the soul will find whatever it did of goodness, dada present, it's right over there. And everything evil it did also that will be there as well, but it will wish

00:07:56--> 00:08:06

that there was something of a great distance between itself and the evil that it had done. And there are law says, all over the Quran, to asako newness.

00:08:08--> 00:08:21

And then every single soul should be compensated incomplete and in full Marchesa, but for whom law, whatever it is earned, and they will they will not be transgressed upon. So

00:08:23--> 00:08:57

when FC warmaster wha ha, and the soul as Allah azza wa jal had perfected the soul of flemons, aka the person who perfects the soul and cures the soul and purifies that that soul that's the person who will be able to do what he will be able to gain prosperity in the hereafter. And the person who doesn't do that harm and the person who doesn't do that he's at loss. Right? So Allah azza wa jal is talking about the soul. So it's upon a person of intellect, the duty of a person of intellect is to bring the soul to account.

00:08:58--> 00:09:04

So how do we bring our souls to account My dear brothers and my dear sisters, we start by something called musataha.

00:09:05--> 00:09:08

We start by the first stage, there are four stages

00:09:09--> 00:09:51

that each one of us has to do every single day. Okay? And the more we do have this, the closer we'll become to a lot and the more we do have it, the more prosperity we'll have. On the day of judgment, you see some of the stuff they used to say that, yes, it's possible that Allah azza wa jal may forgive a person, even if he happens to be negligent. But isn't it a last that the person had time within this world to develop a beautiful hereafter which is infinite, but he didn't do it. So don't just rely upon the mercy of Allah even if you receive that mercy, which you will in sha Allah, which I will in sha Allah, there's also a questioning definitely. But even if that is the case, we still

00:09:51--> 00:09:59

should work harder because there's infinity of further bliss that we can enjoy by every single moment that we fill in our lives with goodness

00:10:00--> 00:10:04

At delta and Inaba and odo and couture, and all of these beautiful meanings.

00:10:07--> 00:10:09

So the first thing we do is Machado,

00:10:10--> 00:10:59

and what's macerata? They say that moussaka is your moment after fudger. Okay. That's the moment after fragile and the Prophet alayhi salatu salam had a moment after fudger and all of the pious predecessors of Islam, they used to have a moment after fudger and the scholars of Islam who act by what they preach, they have a moment after fudger as well. And all of the people who wish to do something good, they know that after fudger is a moment in which the angels descend and they watch and they observe and they witness right in Quran and Virginie Karna mushroom, the Honorable fetcher the recital of the Quran, when it comes to the further time it's witness witness by who by the

00:10:59--> 00:11:28

angels of Allah, by the people who happen to have the taqwa of Allah, by Allah Buddha is that he will gentle himself. It's all witnessed when it comes to the treasure and the Sahaba. They said, or on February is allowed to reschedule so you ensure that you even perfect that failure of yours as well. So that's the moment after and what do you do within this moment after fudger? They said that this is the moment you get yourself prepared for the day. Okay?

00:11:29--> 00:11:42

You start making conditions, moussaka from the word shuttle, you start making conditions upon yourself. You tell yourself that now you have another another day Oh soul.

00:11:43--> 00:11:49

You see every single day is a transaction. Okay? And that's why the

00:11:51--> 00:12:33

so how about they had told us of this as well, for about you know, Nuff said who for muvico home or a typical house every single morning, there's a person what does he do? He sells. He's about to trade with his self with his soul. And then he has two options every single day, what is that he's either going to destroy himself, or he's going to free himself from the fire. I asked a lot as well to make us among those people who will free ourselves from the fire every single morning as we do this, Mashallah. So you make a condition with yourself, you think about your entire day, and you tell yourself, I'm about to get into a trade. I'm about to get into a day of business, just as when

00:12:33--> 00:12:43

you wake up in the morning to think about all the things that you have to accomplish within this day, to make money now, think about all of the things you have to accomplish in order for you to make her not.

00:12:44--> 00:12:45

And then

00:12:46--> 00:13:35

after you've done that, you come to a recognition and you come to an opportunity to ponder that you have 24 hours within this day and you tell yourself you speak to your soul. And you tell yourself that on the Day of Judgment, there will be three things there will be three different times there will be three different hours, there will be three different types of moments, okay? There will be a moment within which I had worshipped Allah and obeyed Allah azza wa jal, and this will be a moment for which I will be happy. And there will be another moment in which I had disobeyed Allah Buddha is at one jalon. And that moment in which I had disobeyed that will be a moment of sadness and grief,

00:13:35--> 00:14:15

and you tell yourself, there's a third thing as well. And there's a third type of moment as well. And that is a moment in neither which you in which you neither disobeyed the law, nor did you obey Allah, rather, you did all of them about half all of the things which happened to be permissible. Those are moments Yes, you will not they will not be recorded against you. Yes, they will not be recorded for you. But when you get to jedna insha Allah and even before that, when you get to the Hereafter, then the hustler will start to remorseful start that Oh, how I wish I could have filled up my hair Oster by doing something at that moment in which I was doing.

00:14:17--> 00:14:57

Okay, by doing something in that moment in which I was doing that would develop my hair after further. So there's only three possibilities about what you're going to think about your your life after you finally get to the afterlife, the first possibilities you will either have remorse, okay. And that's the least of the three. Okay? That's the least of the two actually. The second possibility is that you will be very, very happy and that's when you look back at the times that you filled up with goodness and piety and charity and good ethics and good conduct and vigor and Sala Anza kawatte and all of these beautiful things. And the third possibility is democracy. The

00:14:57--> 00:14:59

disobedience is of a lot of others that he was jealous

00:15:00--> 00:15:10

That will be, that will be something a person will have grief for, I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala, to increase our happiness on the in the day on the day of judgment and in the Hereafter, I mean,

00:15:11--> 00:15:19

by increasing the reward of the time that we spend within the obedience of a lot of Buddhism. And I asked him not

00:15:20--> 00:15:34

to grant us the trophy to completely avoid the sinful moments within our lives. And I asked Allah Subhana Allah to allow us to take those moments in which we do the indifferent things and fill them up with goodness, yada, Aloma, I mean,

00:15:35--> 00:16:01

you see, sometimes, we think that we have a lot of time. So because of that we fill up our time with time with a lot of indifferent things. What does that mean? We things which we think are neither going to affect us nor harm us. But when we start thinking of the fact that that moment could develop something in the eternity, something at infinity, you says to Panama, and allows the widget places for you a tree and gender

00:16:03--> 00:16:48

you say Allahu Akbar and Allah azza wa jal develops for you something within your hereafter. You say, now you know how in the law, and it becomes a card for you within the hair. After that, we'll talk about the card, which will outweigh everything evil that you may have done within this life. So Panama, but I'm denying you the lower low, right. So if you fill your time up with these things were light on the Day of Judgment, you will not you will be a happy camper and I will be a happy camper as well. So this is your opportunity in the morning to do Machado to speak to yourself. And tell yourself that there's only three possibility within possibilities within how I spend my day. Okay,

00:16:48--> 00:17:00

either a moment of grief, either a moment of happiness, or either a moment of remorse. And we want to increase the moments of happiness and we want to decrease the moments of remorse and grief.

00:17:01--> 00:17:05

I asked Allah subhanaw taala to grant us that opiate to practice and to convey

00:17:06--> 00:17:23

now that you've made a deal with yourself with your soul, okay? That you are going to be among the people that in the seal in the transaction in the trade in the barter with Allah azza wa jal, you will be someone who will prosperous, who will be prosperous, and who will prosper.

00:17:24--> 00:17:57

Now the second thing for you to do and for AI to do is a maraca is for us to have oversight. You see, even in your business transactions, as I explained in the beginning, right? After you've defined all of the code of ethics, after you define the terms of the contract, now, you give the contract off to the person they sign it you they start working for you or you start working for them. What's the next step? You have to oversee everything that goes on within this transaction? Isn't that so? So similarly, when it comes to your transaction with a lot of

00:17:58--> 00:18:04

your murabaha your spiritual accounting, now you have to oversee yourself why

00:18:05--> 00:18:53

you are up in your intellect, in this transaction with your soul and Allah azza wa jal, your intellect is the one that is that is conducting this transaction you see the self the soul is sometimes encouraged to do evil, right? We have the knifes within us that's a motto Ebisu it constantly commands us to evil, it is the intellect it is the apple, you know why they say Apple for the word intellect in the Arabic language. Or they call it new here as well. Why? They say the reason why they call it Apple is because Apple means manner, I am narrow to stop something, okay? So the apple ends up stopping you from the evil. And no, you're also because the word means also to

00:18:53--> 00:19:35

stop so that the know your your intellect, it ends up also stopping you from evil. So your intellect is the one that will get to oversee this entire transaction. And that's why the Prophet alayhi salatu was Salam was was was the most perfect of all human beings. Why is that? Because he was the most strongest of all of them in intellect. He was an openness. Okay. And because he was the strongest of all of them intellect, he was the strongest of all of them in conduct as well. And he was the most beautiful of all of them in conduct as well. So if you want to conduct correct conduct yourself correctly, then it is the intellect that will help you conduct yourself okay. It is your

00:19:35--> 00:19:59

mind that will help you conduct yourself. So you have to employ this mind not in pondering different ways and different strategies to do the harm but different strategies to oversee the soul. Okay, the oversight, so this intellect will be overseeing the soul and enforcing the soul into submission. Right? And this is what they call a moral code.

00:20:00--> 00:20:07

You see, once you start to get yourself into this mental state of Morocco about what me What that means is oversight.

00:20:08--> 00:20:45

And the deeper meaning of that is that your intellect recognizes, and your mind recognizes, and your soul recognizes that Allah azzawajal is constantly observing you, okay? And if Allah azzawajal is constantly observing you than a person of intellectual knows he's being observed from above, a person of intellect would always observe everything within his or her care. So since the soul is within the care of the mind, and the mind recognizes that it is under divine supervision, than it is for a person of intellect, to do what to supervise the soul, as well.

00:20:46--> 00:21:06

So you supervise the soul, because you understand you're being supervised by a lot of children as well. You oversee the soul soul, because your mind recognizes the fact that, that there is oversight from Allah as origin within this as well. And that's why a young man, he came, and he became connected to a shape, okay.

00:21:08--> 00:21:40

And he became a student. And this shape, he started to look at this young man, and he would give him a lot of attention, he would give him a lot of attention, more so than some of the other people who are maybe even the elderly, within that gathering. And the people, they started to say, this person is new, he's young, he's all of these things. But you seem to be observing him more carefully and carefully, then all the rest of us, you seem to be opening up to him more than all the rest of us Why? So chase? they asked him. So the shift said, let me

00:21:41--> 00:21:55

give you all a test. He didn't tell them it's a test. But he said, Okay, I have an idea. I have these knives here, you take all every one of you take one knife, and I have these birds also over here, each one of you take one bird, okay.

00:21:56--> 00:22:27

And what I want you to do is I want you to take this bird and this knife, and I want you to walk away to a place where nobody else is watching you. And I want you to slaughter this bird, and then bring the bird back to me and bring the knife back to me as well. Lo and behold, not much time passed. Soon after that. All of the students that came back to the sheriff's and they brought the knife and they brought the birds and the birds are all slaughtered. This student came back and he didn't end up slaughtering this bird.

00:22:29--> 00:23:00

So the sheikh said, Why didn't you slaughter the other students? They said, Why didn't you slaughter actually they started decisis upon law, we have one on this man, because the shank was giving him so much attention and the one simple command of the sheath, or the encouragement of the shift the student was unable to fulfill. So when asked and inquired, this young student, he says, I searched and I searched and I searched. And I couldn't find a single place in this world in which a lot of publicity will tell is not watching. So I couldn't slaughter desperate.

00:23:03--> 00:23:17

We have to get into this mental state where we recognize that a lot of Buddha is that evil gentle is watching us, okay? Because every single moment, Allah is watching us, right? And remind yourself of that.

00:23:18--> 00:23:38

How do you remind yourself of that? You remind yourself of that, by getting to know Allah azzawajal You know, there is nothing that will remind you of the morava of Allah azza wa jal, the fact that Allah azza wa jal is observing you nothing will remind you of that more than you learning about a lot of

00:23:40--> 00:24:26

learning about the Beautiful Names of Allah azza wa jal, learning about the fact that is a lie as the origin is a Latif Allah azza wa jal is Al Habib, Allah azzawajal is an Elohim Allah azza wa jal is a rocky, Allah azza wa jal is the one who knows that which was a large origin knows that which wasn't. A large origin knows that which isn't. And that which will not be, if they were to be how they will be. That is the knowledge and the power of Allah. Allah azza wa jal knows as he tells us in the Koran, what matters to me rocketing Illa Allah Maha, Allah knows that every single time a leaf falls, when it's falling and where it's falling and how it's falling. The more you learn of

00:24:26--> 00:24:59

allies are gentle and his names, the more you recognize your Lord, through getting closer to him through worship, the more you'll be able to come to the state of Morocco. And that is what the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam called, and he sang and tabooed aloha Kanika Torah, the Torah in the era, that you worship Allah azza wa jal as if you see him, okay, that's even a greater state that's called Shahada. That's when you get into the state where you almost feel as if you are watching Allah azza wa jal you

00:25:00--> 00:25:20

never be able to literally within this life, watch Allah azza wa jal, but it's as if you are watching Allah. Think about it when you are looking at someone who you revere who you fear, who you look up to, let's say your appearance, let's say someone within society who you look up to, you can see them at arm's length.

00:25:21--> 00:26:02

At that moment, you will never do something that will be displeasing them. So, if you come to a position where it's as if you see a larger agenda, you will never be able to do something that displeases Allah. But the prophets of Salaam knew that most of us, except us detain and accept us only when they will never be able to achieve this state. So the Prophet alayhi salatu salam, he says, For 11 contura, who fell in the hole Iraq, that if you are not able to see him and that is the fact that you are not able to see him at least not in this life. Then Allah azza wa jal himself is watching you that is a recognition that you and I through learning about Allah azza wa jal can come

00:26:02--> 00:26:03

to. Right.

00:26:04--> 00:26:29

So think about this. And once we see our souls, and observe our souls for all of the shooter with all of the conditions that we had defined for ourselves after fudger once we observe our souls for every single moment that we spend whether we are going by the conditions of Allah as the agenda, we reminded ourselves of our time, right?

00:26:31--> 00:27:12

If we continuously oversee ourselves, that's the only way we will be able to progress Look, my dear brother, my dear sister, if every single day when you have a business deal with someone else think about it will lie sometimes we are so negligent with a lot of the agenda and we're so keen on this world. If when you have a business deal with someone else. You are so keen on Penny pinching at every single cent you have to keep record of then when you make a deal with Lars or gel as you have done after fudger as you will in sha Allah, as you've done throughout your life as you were done before you were even born.

00:27:14--> 00:27:56

When Allah azzawajal said LS to be rock pecan kalu Bella, all of us gathered before we were born and a lot took and a covenant from us when he said to us, Am I not your Lord? All of us at all. But ah we all said definitely our Lord. And aku Yama, Yama, Tina coonan haha funny that you say on the day of judgment that you didn't know that this actually took place. Right? Don't dare say on the day of judgment that this covenant with the law as origin didn't take place. But let's say you can't remember that covenant, which is the reality even though it's been instilled within our very knifes within our souls, every single one of us has taken a covenant with Allah azza wa jal in other ways,

00:27:56--> 00:28:23

right? The fact that we are Muslims, that is a covenant with Allah, the fact that insha Allah, Allah, we will wake up next tomorrow morning and precondition ourselves for our transactions with Allah azza wa jal, that is your covenant with Allah. So just as you are k keen about your conditions with other people in business, then be keen on your conditions with a lot of Buddhism, as well. That's the only way we're going to be able to gain profit. Okay.

00:28:24--> 00:28:28

You see, you have a capital U and I have a capital.

00:28:29--> 00:28:37

And then in addition to the capital, we also have a profit as well. And then we have a loss. Just as in business transactions, we have a capital

00:28:39--> 00:28:43

we have a profit and we have a loss as well. Your capital

00:28:44--> 00:29:20

are your bare minimums, your capital are your YG about your obligations, your Salawat and if you have the gods do upon you, then you're exactly what and if you have hedged you upon you then your hedge, if you have and what I do upon you, then your own law, if you have parents who have your who you owe rights to than them, if you have other people that you owe rights to them, these are your obligations, that's your capital. So by doing that, some of us what we do is when we do that, we say and hamdulillah we have sufficed inshallah, right.

00:29:21--> 00:30:00

But they say in reality, that is just your capital, you're only staying afloat. When you get into a business transaction in this world. Do you do that just to stay afloat? Or do you try to make a profit? Of course, you try to make a profit, otherwise your time to yourself is being wasted. So if you do just the capital, the bare minimums, that even within this life, what are you doing, you're just wasting your time because you're actually here to gain capital, gain profit, and not just maintain the capital. So your profit is going to be above and beyond the bare minimums because when you go below the bare minimums, you've already started.

00:30:00--> 00:30:38

To go into loss, okay, and that is the loss of the hereafter. Another form of loss is the sin. So if you commit a sin, you're already decreasing your capital. Okay? The more sins a person commits, the more that capital is decreasing. So in order for us to ensure that we end up winning, and we ended up surpassing and we ended up profiting within this spiritual transaction of ours, then we have to ensure that we maintain the capital, we minimize the loss, ie the sins, and we ensure that we continue to gain profit by increasing the deeds that are above and beyond our obligations with a lot of validity, which are not.

00:30:40--> 00:31:05

So how are you going to conduct this maraca? I'll give you three easy steps to conduct this maraca. Every single time you get yourself into an action, any time a thought comes to you ask yourself three questions. Okay. Three questions. Very simple, very easy. If you're taking notes, take them down. If your heart is your notepad, make sure it's engraved

00:31:08--> 00:31:12

three easy questions. The first question is Lima.

00:31:13--> 00:31:56

What is the underlying factor because of which I am thinking of doing this? What is the underlying factor for which I'm doing this? We haven't we haven't gotten to your intentions yet. What is the underlying factor for doing this? Is it a shower? Is it a desire that is causing me to do this whatever it may be, whether it may be a business that you're making, whether it may be you coming to the masjid, whether it may be, you know, you getting married, whether it may be, you know, you visiting a relative, whatever that may be? Is it a shower? Is it a desire? Is it, you know, a personal wish? Is it a hope? Is it something for Allah? Is it for your religion? Is it for the

00:31:56--> 00:32:10

hereafter? What is the underlying factor that's causing me to go down the path of this particular action? The second thing that you want to ask yourself is, how am I doing this action? Okay, how am I doing this action?

00:32:11--> 00:32:14

Let's say it happens to be something good within your mind.

00:32:15--> 00:32:39

It's not enough that it happens to be good. In addition for it to be good, you also have to ensure that the wholeness of your action is correct as well, how am I going to be doing this action? And the only way you will know how to make sure that the How is correct within your actions is by ensuring that you learn the knowledge of how to do this action. If you're going to purchase a house, how do I ensure that my loan is held, okay?

00:32:40--> 00:33:03

If you're going to purchase a car, then just as you ensure that you learn everything related to the car that you need that best best fits your need, you also have to make sure that the money that you're using to buy this car is Hello, hello. So how are you going to do this? And last but not least is Who are you doing this for? Okay, Lehman.

00:33:05--> 00:33:11

Lima. Okay, fair. Lehman, these are the three questions. Who are you doing this for?

00:33:13--> 00:33:56

Are you doing this because normally, you're either going to be doing something for a lot of publicity and gentlemen, or you're going to be doing it to please yourself, or Please someone else, okay. And you only have a limited amount of time, and you only have a limited amount of air that you're going to be able to read within this world until your quota of air is finished and Allah azza wa jal makes you seize from existence, okay. So, you have to ensure the first thing and correct the first thing first thing and that is what is the underlying factor behind this action, if you can minimize the underlying factors that are worldly than do so.

00:33:57--> 00:34:09

And if you can maximize the underlying factors that are for your hereafter, then do so, because this finite life leads to an infinity of bliss or the other way around, okay.

00:34:11--> 00:34:58

If you can decrease the amount mitigate the amount of actions that you do within this life, the underlying factor for which is do neogi, which is dunia related transitory, then do so. Okay. And make sure that the vast majority of the pie of your life is being conducted for a lot of publicity in general, or for something related to the hereafter. The second thing is that every action you do ensure that you learn something about it, my dear brothers and sisters will lie. today. We don't have any excuse. Why is that? Because on every single thing we do, literally information is so readily available, that it's hard to imagine that a person will not be able to find information to

00:34:58--> 00:34:59

ensure that they're doing things basic.

00:35:00--> 00:35:41

And knowledge, okay. Yesterday and in the past, we used to have, you know, stories of people who are worshipers of Allah azza wa jal, who have who are ignorant, perhaps even today, there are those examples as well. But then they've decreased and a person who's keen on ensuring he gets it right. He knows how to get this information today, even from the deserts of Arabia, because internet is starting to reach in many places in the world. Right? So information is available. So make sure that every action you do you do it in the right way. You know, People sometimes ask questions about financing, right hold on hold on this or that lie, there's so much information related to it now

00:35:41--> 00:36:06

that it's going to be very simple and easy for you to find that information. And if you're not able to find that information, just as you're willing to bring the greatest of experts to ensure that your house is made correctly, and the best of architects to make sure that it's designed correctly, then you should be willing to pay someone to be able to audit your contracts to ensure that your transactions are held. Right.

00:36:08--> 00:36:54

That is one thing that we shouldn't ever be Penny pinching for right some when it comes to the contracts when it comes to hold on why because the prophets I send them told us in a Hadees that you just said in Nevada, lol harami fornaro olavi, that whichever body ends up, being nourished upon how long then the fire will always be more worthy of the body. I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala to make the agenda more worthy of us a llama Amina. Okay, so you keep these three questions in your mind at all times? Why am I doing this? How am I doing this? And for whom am I doing this? If you asked yourself this question throughout the day, about every single action that you take that in sha Allah

00:36:54--> 00:37:24

Dada over the course of some days, you will be in a state where always remembering a lot as though again, and the oversight of law is right before you at every single moment. And it's only through this stage that you can eventually reach to the higher stage and that is the stage of this routine. And that is the stage of new Shahada where you come to a degree where you almost feel as if you are observing a lot of people and now we come to an Maha Sabha. Okay, Al Maha Sabha.

00:37:25--> 00:38:09

Now we come to the crux of our topic, the accounting itself, okay. So throughout whatever we've been doing, we've been doing the preparatory phases to the accounting itself, what we can cold call the pre accounting, preparing ourselves to mitigate the losses when we actually end up accounting ourselves and allies the origin encouraged us to account take ourselves to account in many places in the Quran, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam endo Sahaba they also encouraged this practice. Allah subhanho wa Taala told us in the Quran in surah, Allah Allah said, Yeah, Xena, Armando tala. Oh, you believe fear Allah when he's done good enough. So mapa de Martini, and let

00:38:09--> 00:38:21

every soul think about what it is delivering for tomorrow. Imagine this, my dear brothers and sisters, Allah azzawajal calls the Day of Judgment tomorrow. Right?

00:38:22--> 00:38:40

And that's because he wants us to realize that, in essence, when we think about our life, when we think about our life, compared to the amount of time that this world will remain, and compared to eternity, it's literally like tomorrow and even lesser than tomorrow, right? Because infinity

00:38:41--> 00:39:28

when you put that next to any number, however great it may be that number ends up becoming zero because infinity is so big, right? So the Hereafter is infinite. That means this life ends up becoming completely nothing, okay? And that's why Allah azza wa jal calls the Day of Judgment tomorrow, even though in our lives it feels like it's a long episode of 60 360-467-7075 years I asked him not to grant as long lives of piety alarm me, okay, so Allah azza wa jal says he Oh, you believe it, Allah will turn will not sue Maka domitilla, HUD and that every single soul think about what it is delivering for the hereafter. And Omar Abdul hubub also told us of this, when he said has

00:39:28--> 00:39:47

evil and forsaken Kabbalah and to have saboo bring your souls and yourselves to account before a day comes when you end up being taken to account. So just as you had a morning time with Allah azza wa jal when you had what the first stage and musah

00:39:48--> 00:39:53

when you started discussing the terms of your contract, contract with yourself, okay.

00:39:54--> 00:40:00

You started mentioning and defining the terms your intellect started defining

00:40:00--> 00:40:38

The terms of your transactions to your soul. So you end up succumbing this soul and submitting the soul for a lot of each other, just as you had that, Mashallah, in the morning, now, when the night time comes, it's now the time for Bahasa, now you start, you have to start taking your soul to account, just as when you wake up in the morning, and you go and open that till and that kiosk, or just as you open your day of business, and you start closing your day of business, you have to now start accounting for the day, or accounting for the week, or accounting for the month, or accounting for the quarter, or accounting for the entire year.

00:40:39--> 00:41:07

Or accounting, but by annually or accounting for however many years that you end up accounting for. So similarly, at the end of the day, now you have to sit with yourself and think about your entire day. And this is what they call Maha Sabha. Okay? bringing yourself to account because look, the neffs the soul, it always wants a way out just as when you hire someone, okay? They always want a way out if you don't give it oversight, okay?

00:41:08--> 00:41:44

In every business transaction that you do in this world, you know, if there's no oversight, except if the person fears a lie, zolgensma always do all these things that are a bit wishy washy, they'll try to wiggle their way out of different, you know, aspects of the transaction, right. So similarly, your soul will also try to wiggle its way out. Your your soul will also try to find a route out of some of the things that it knows it has to do. The only way you can succumb and make the soul yield is if you bring it to account and daily, so, okay, on a regular basis.

00:41:45--> 00:41:54

And that's why and hustle and bustle used to say a believer is always standing taking its soul to account.

00:41:56--> 00:42:32

And on the Day of Judgment, the accounting of only those people who bring themselves to account within this life, only those people their accounts will be easy. I'm going to give you an example over here within this worldly life as well. You see, let's say you become audited, you have a business, alright? And randomly, you become audited by the taxation agencies, right? without any prior notice. You don't have any opportunity to clean up your records and your accounts and all of those things and prepare yourself and one day, they just walk in and bring you to account. Okay?

00:42:33--> 00:42:40

Most likely, many of us will feel or many of us will lose our licenses or whatever else it is that we're worried about, right?

00:42:41--> 00:43:23

So it hasn't been busted. He says that just like in life, the people who end up passing the accounting of this life, okay? are the ones who bring themselves to account prior to being accounted. Just like that, on the day of judgment, those people who account for their sins and all of their moments within this life, they are the ones who will be for Allah azza wa jal will have an easy accounting, okay? Because on a daily basis, you're keeping your records you're ensuring what you're seeing, you're ensuring that every single word that comes out of your mouth, you keep record of it, there are people in the past, who would be able to recall every single word they spoke within

00:43:23--> 00:43:42

one entire week. Well, I think about that, but you would worry otaku lisanna, who, hopefully Konami were in the hula morpho. As a bit dounia reports, this line of poetry from some of the past predecessors in kitamura, he says that maybe a person

00:43:43--> 00:44:18

who happens to be a person of piety, he may end up holding back his tongue from speaking even though he happens to be a very prolific speaker. So when people are silent, that doesn't mean that they're not able to speak that just means that perhaps they're keeping themselves to account. And perhaps they're keeping record of every single word that comes out of their mouth. So when you see people silent, that doesn't mean they're, that they're people who don't have something to say that just means they realize that every single thing that they say, they'll have to pay for it on the Day of Judgment.

00:44:20--> 00:44:59

You see, my dear brother, my dear sister, my moon, my moon diploma, Ron, he used to tell us that a person will never be a person of complete piety until he ends up bringing his soul to account more than he does so with his partners. Why is that? Because the person who brings his partners in business to account is only doing that for a transitory possession, but a person who brings his soul to account he's doing that because he knows there is an infinity that he's going to either have bliss in an eternity you either have bliss in or a lot of grief as well. I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala to grant us the bliss of infinity and eternity alone.

00:45:00--> 00:45:00

I mean,

00:45:02--> 00:45:43

so just as you did your mug shot, I thought in the morning, my dear brothers, my dear sisters, just as you do your maraca, your oversight throughout the day, now as we come towards the night, start doing them hacer la. Now you don't stop there because in your business transactions as well when you have an accounting that you go through, let's say a tax agency taxing taxation agency, it ends up putting you into account, then what do they do if you're if you're going wrong, they end up penalizing you, right, you have to pay for penalties. So if you let your soul go and lecture so off the hook, then your soul will feel that your mind is always willing to let it off the hook. Right?

00:45:44--> 00:46:18

The one thing that Allah has placed within your body to bring the soul to account and that is your mind, your soul will start to think that this mind will always let me off the hook. Okay, just as when you're dealing with people in business, you let them go, once you let them go twice, they'll say, Oh, this person always lets us off the hook anyways, right? So similarly, your soul will start to feel that and for that reason, you have to also bring yourself not only to account, you have to penalize it as well, okay? And it was from the practice of the self, that they would penalize the soul,

00:46:19--> 00:46:22

even from the Sahaba or life. Imagine that.

00:46:24--> 00:46:31

Even the Sahaba they used to not only bring their souls to account, you see your own model do hottub was the one who said has evil and forsaken

00:46:33--> 00:46:56

is not so he was the one who said that bring your souls to account before your accountant on the Day of Judgment. And omoto hapa is the first of the people implementing his own nnessee ha, one day, he tells us humara hobby ended up walking to a garden of his he walked through an entire garden of his.

00:46:57--> 00:47:02

And when he walked through this garden, on top of the Allahu Allahu

00:47:04--> 00:47:06

alayhi, the Sahaba, which should be the people of our hearts.

00:47:08--> 00:47:43

Because the Sahaba the type of love they had for Elias origin, we don't see it in any other generation. And it will never be there that level because Abu Bakar is the one against tomb, the entire, the amount of the entire oma is not even equivalent. Right? So Omar, Bob is among the Sahaba and not just any Sahaba any of the Sahaba he's one of the Sahaba about whom the Prophet alayhi salatu was Salam. He said if they do build a name embody follow those two who will come after me of Obamacare and or model. So this is a laudable hottub.

00:47:46--> 00:48:01

Is that seems a hobby about whom the other Sahaba they used to say that we would say that the Prophet came and Abu Bakar and Omar came the Prophet walked in Abu Bakr and Omar walked, this is notable hottub for the Allahu taala

00:48:02--> 00:48:26

Ramadan katabi one day walk to a garden. And after he walked through this garden, he came back and he was coming for Salatu Rasul. Allah, his son, he tells us the story, and he says, He walked and he's getting closer and approaching the masjid and he notices that the people in the masjid have already finished salata docile. Right.

00:48:27--> 00:48:52

So he thought to himself, what is it that has made me miss Salatu rasa? What's made me Misato docile. And by the way, he hasn't missed a lot of meaning he actually could have prayed still, there was still time left as a lazy bum and Sadie later explained that it wasn't that horrible hapa had missed salasar he'd only missed Gemma. Okay. It only missed the congregation.

00:48:54--> 00:48:58

So I thought to himself, what is it that's made me miss this, Gemma?

00:49:00--> 00:49:35

He realized it's that garden, the beautiful garden with the flowers and perhaps the different fruits and perhaps the dates and so on and so forth. So omoto, little hubbub. He said, How are you? Masaki. Misaki sadaqa. My entire garden is now Southern. For who? For all of the poor people. It's that very garden that kept me from one prayer, one solitude also, how dare it and he ended up to discipline his soul. He ended up donating his entire garden for the sake of a lot of research.

00:49:36--> 00:49:38

You see, one day

00:49:40--> 00:49:49

a man by the name of Hassan Hassan even Sinan, he walked by a room. He walked by a room or a house.

00:49:50--> 00:49:56

And he started pondering and he started thinking how old is this house? When was this house built? Okay.

00:49:57--> 00:49:58

So

00:49:59--> 00:49:59

after

00:50:00--> 00:50:45

While he realized he is doing something that is against the etiquette of a Muslim, okay, how so? he said to himself that the Prophet alayhi salatu salam told us in a Hadith, authentic hadith in a Timothy, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said that men Hosni Islam and a Turku melayani from the beauty of a person's face is that he ends up leaving that which does not concern concern him, right. So he said, Oh, knifes, you are asking about something that doesn't concern you know, you better keep your Sony sign up for sama, I will, I will punish you own us by fasting for an entire year. And then this man has signed, he ended up fasting for the entire year. Now ally, I'm

00:50:45--> 00:50:49

not telling you over here to end up punishing yourself to this degree, okay?

00:50:50--> 00:51:27

If you're able to Alhamdulillah there's nothing wrong with this, because this is what they'll have. I did. And this is what the pious predecessors in the past had done as well, because their soul was so connected to Allah his origin, but at the bare minimum, try to disconnect yourself from this dunya but also don't go to the other extreme and end up doing things that are impermissible in order for you to do what in order for you to punish yourself. I know some people they end up doing things that are held on or that are against the etiquette of Islam in order for them to punish their own souls. Okay, so there are some people and it's been reported in the books as well. They ended up

00:51:27--> 00:51:34

looking at something that is that is how dumb because one is specifically, okay, he ended up looking at

00:51:36--> 00:52:01

a woman. So when he looked at something that was wrong, he started beating his eye until the eye popped out. And he said you Oh, I were looking at something that's wrong. This is not okay. Okay. This is not okay. This is what ignorance leads people to doing. Okay. You guess you treat your soul but you treat your soul like the Sahaba had done. If

00:52:02--> 00:52:19

he ends up donating his his his garden he hasn't done something that is impermissible. If someone ends up touching there's also reports of this Someone touched the leg of a woman by accident then they ended up cutting their their hand off. Still for a lot. This is not okay.

00:52:21--> 00:53:03

Because Allah subhanho wa Taala told us in the Quran not to be a de comida taluka don't end up throwing yourself towards destruction, right? You end up committing a sin and you call out to Allah and you say Oh Allah destroy me for the sin that I'd committed. Allah azza wa jal doesn't need to destroy you. There are people like that and I've heard it myself and bad things that happened to such people as well. And they suffer because of ignorance. So if you ever want to punish your soul, punish it within halaal Okay, so it actually ends up curing the soul Eliza wouldn't doesn't wish for you to destroy your limbs and body faculties in your poke your eye out because you've done something

00:53:03--> 00:53:43

that's head on, but he wants you to correct yourself. Okay? So if you looked at something that's how to make yourself obligatory charity upon yourself, okay, it's not obligation, but you end up making a wager with your soul. And you say, every time I look at something, that's how I'm going to fast a day, every time I do this, or that, I'm going to give some sadaqa for the sake of Allah. Every time I bad mouth someone I will do more Vicar to end up correcting myself. That is the Mujahid that is the spiritual struggle that Allah has is that he will generally wants from you. When you read the law, ob como Yusra Allah azza wa jal wishes is from you, for you, but it is mankind and people that

00:53:43--> 00:53:52

end up wishing evil talk to yourself. And that's what I'll leave you off with. Although murabaha spiritual guarding

00:53:53--> 00:53:59

have other mcommerce as well, these are the four that I've mentioned before you that are the most important of them all.

00:54:00--> 00:54:01

Alamo charata.

00:54:03--> 00:54:04

El maraca

00:54:05--> 00:54:08

and mushara is your preconditioning in the morning, okay.

00:54:09--> 00:54:14

So you make conditions with yourself in the morning and you tell you you remind yourself of the covenant with Allah.

00:54:15--> 00:54:57

And then you sit by yourself throughout your day doing what? Not by yourself, but throughout your day, you keep reminding yourself of the three questions. What's the underlying factor for this action? Why am I doing this? And for how am I doing this and for whom am I doing this particular action. And when the leader night comes, now you bring yourself to account, you literally bring yourself to account and if your soul hasn't fulfilled the conditions you placed in the morning, now you have to also punish the soul as well. Okay? But within limitations of of punishing the soul, but when you're sitting with yourself and you're doing your marhaba This is also a time for you to speak

00:54:57--> 00:54:59

to yourself. Tell yourself

00:55:00--> 00:55:08

knows yourself is like a being it needs to be spoken to by the person that you yourself are because you, you know,

00:55:09--> 00:56:03

well in San Juan de basura, Allah tells us of this in the Koran that a man best knows of himself. Okay? I can speak to you all day, but you know better than I what I do, how your soul specifically gets triggered right? belly in San Juan infc de basura, one comma zero, and then best knows how his soul is and what his soul has done and what the cures of the soul may be, even if he ends up giving 1000 excuses, okay. So once you realize the sicknesses of the souls, once you generally realize the cures of those souls, you best know how to sit by yourself and speak to your soul. tell yourself that also, if today someone were to come to me, and I was wearing a shawl, and someone tells me that

00:56:03--> 00:56:44

under this shawl is a scorpion, even if it happens to be a little baby or a toddler or a young boy, would I take this shawl and tuck it right off. Of course, if someone tells you there's a scorpion under your jacket or something like that, immediately, you will pick it up and and chuck it away, you won't wait to see if there really is or isn't or is a prank. So similarly, if the FBI are coming to warn you of a day of judgment, then the matter is very severe. And if you don't end up taking the matter with the same degree of severity, then this means that that speech of a young boy or a toddler is more apparent to you than that of the prophets. So panela

00:56:45--> 00:57:28

you see, speak to yourself and tell yourself that if I procrastinate today, that it will become even harder for me to correct myself tomorrow, how so the desires are your enemies, and shaytaan is your enemy desires, and up and shaytaan capitalizes on these desires, desires are like trees, and you have been commanded by Allah azza wa jal to uproot the tree of desires. Every day that passes the roots of the tree of desires, they become stronger and stronger within this world, okay. And every day passes you yourself become physically and spiritually weaker if you don't work towards allies.

00:57:29--> 00:57:51

So if you don't start by correcting today, then tomorrow will be more difficult. And the next year will be more difficult. And the year after will be more difficult. And it will continue to become difficult because you are continuously becoming weaker spiritually and physically. And you are your neffs. And your desires are continually growing roots within the heart of yours.
