This lecture details the main steps that each one of us needs to take to bring his/her soul to account.

welcome everyone to this lecture entitled
As people who are used to conducting business on a daily basis, whether that be at a micro level or a macro level, we are definitely every single one of us used to conducting some sort of business on a daily basis, right? When you go to the marketplace, there's some business that you do when you if you happen to be a businessman or merchant, if he happened to be an investor, there is some sort of business that you do all of us do some degree of business, and we've been doing it for years. Since we happen to be children, we've been doing business and slowly but surely,
depending on how much business we were conducting, and we've conducted, we have mastered the art of doing business within this world, okay.
this means that we know all of the phases that we have to go through in order for us to have a successful business deal.
We think about the type of conditions that we need to make with the person that we will be doing business with, right? We think about after we make those conditions to oversee every single thing that occurs in the process of that transaction, even if it's something very, very small, you're hiring someone for a service at your house to fix up your lamp or your light or something of that nature. You know, some plumbers coming to fix something, it's a small little transaction, you're going to make some conditions about how you want the job done. And after you make those conditions you're going to look into, you know how this person is doing that job as well, you're going to
observe throughout watch. And you know very well that some people when you end up hiring them, and you don't watch every single thing that they're doing, they won't do the job, right.
We all know about that.
And there are other people However, they will do the job, right, they have more integrity and more honesty, and that's within the world as well. So we have the example of people who have integrity. And we also have other examples as well. But nonetheless, we don't take our chances. When you bring a plumber home, you watch everything that they're doing when you bring someone to fix up your walls or something of that nature. You watch what they're doing. When you bring in electrician, you keep an eye out on every single thing that they're doing. If you happen to be an investor and you buy a place or you invest into a specific place, and you bring yourself a fund manager, you keep an eye
out, ensure that that manager is doing his job right. Now, once you're done with all of that, then it comes time to take things to account, then you start looking into
the accounting, you start making sure that every single penny has been accounted for you start making sure that every single bit of the money that you invested into the into the business, it added up at the end of the day. And if it doesn't, then what do you do, you start bringing yourselves into penalty mode, you start penalizing the person that you're transacting with. And it goes both ways. Okay? Even yourself, when you're hired and you don't do your job, right, your employer will tell you that there's some penalties for that, you might end up losing a portion of your monthly salary. Or if you're a person who has been contracted, then you might lose some of the
money because you're delayed, you had a certain day to make sure that you, you deliver by right.
So that is how we conduct our business on a daily basis. Right.
And Allah has dealt with jail time. And again, he calls our transaction with Allah azzawajal a business, right? The jaw, he calls it a business with a lot of winners that he was gentle. So it's only understandable in that light. And it's only understandable when we consider that, that we're going to have the same phases that we go through in our regular day to day business. When we do business with Allah subhana wa Tada, right.
And so just as we put ourselves to account, and just as we go through all of the all of the preconditioning before we get into the contract, just as we define the terms of the contract, just as we have oversight, just as we bring the person we're contracting with to account at the end of it or we are brought to account and just as with there's penalties involved, similarly when you're doing business with a live agent, all of these stages are there.
Right. And this is what they call murabaha.
Spiritual, what I loosely translated as spiritual accounting, okay?
Perhaps a closer translation might be spiritual guarding
But if we really want to understand what this word means, contextually, then we can say that it means spiritual accounting, okay? And the scholars of Islam, they've said that there are different phases for this spiritual accounting that a person has to take. And we have to do it, every single one of us if we want to make a move forward. You know, as a businessman, there are quarterly goals that you have to meet you and I know that and everyone who's worked within this scope, and that's most of us we know that. Similarly, when we're dealing with allies origin, we have to be even more keen. Why is that? Look, if you lose a penny, in this world, it's infinite, it's finite, against
finite. But when you lose a moment of this life, and the reward or the punishment is in the Hereafter, or the remorse in the Hereafter, then it's finite against infinite.
Your life is finite, that moment could equate to infinity of bliss. Okay? Keep that always in mind when you say Subhan Allah when hamdulillah Allah, Allahu Akbar, where every single time you do Likud, you're filling up a gap within your infinite abode.
Just by taking a moment out of your finite world for that.
And when you think of that, then things start to fall into perspective. So if you are so keen on the finite world, meaning that every single penny you're keen on ensuring that you don't lose, then why wouldn't you have that same level of keenness? Why wouldn't I have that same level of keenness when we're dealing with a law and we know the reward or the punishment is infinity.
And that's why we have to bring ourselves to account
and when we bring ourselves into account, the first phase look a lot has been spiritual accounting training, this, Allah has made the entire matter of the hereafter related to the soul. I mean, this is something that Allah spoke about in so many places in the Quran. Again, and again you hear the word enough's in the Quran, yo Mataji, Dooku, Luna, FSI ma millet, Min, Hiram, dada, Mama, I mean, it's been so intelligent doodle and avena however, you know, emerged and buried, that on that day, every soul every soul is speaking of the soul will find whatever it did of goodness, dada present, it's right over there. And everything evil it did also that will be there as well, but it will wish
that there was something of a great distance between itself and the evil that it had done. And there are law says, all over the Quran, to asako newness.
And then every single soul should be compensated incomplete and in full Marchesa, but for whom law, whatever it is earned, and they will they will not be transgressed upon. So

So how do we bring our souls to account My dear brothers and my dear sisters, we start by something called musataha.
We start by the first stage, there are four stages
that each one of us has to do every single day. Okay? And the more we do have this, the closer we'll become to a lot and the more we do have it, the more prosperity we'll have. On the day of judgment, you see some of the stuff they used to say that, yes, it's possible that Allah azza wa jal may forgive a person, even if he happens to be negligent. But isn't it a last that the person had time within this world to develop a beautiful hereafter which is infinite, but he didn't do it. So don't just rely upon the mercy of Allah even if you receive that mercy, which you will in sha Allah, which I will in sha Allah, there's also a questioning definitely. But even if that is the case, we still
should work harder because there's infinity of further bliss that we can enjoy by every single moment that we fill in our lives with goodness

So the first thing we do is Machado,

you wake up in the morning to think about all the things that you have to accomplish within this day, to make money now, think about all of the things you have to accomplish in order for you to make her not.
after you've done that, you come to a recognition and you come to an opportunity to ponder that you have 24 hours within this day and you tell yourself you speak to your soul. And you tell yourself that on the Day of Judgment, there will be three things there will be three different times there will be three different hours, there will be three different types of moments, okay? There will be a moment within which I had worshipped Allah and obeyed Allah azza wa jal, and this will be a moment for which I will be happy. And there will be another moment in which I had disobeyed Allah Buddha is at one jalon. And that moment in which I had disobeyed that will be a moment of sadness and grief,
and you tell yourself, there's a third thing as well. And there's a third type of moment as well. And that is a moment in neither which you in which you neither disobeyed the law, nor did you obey Allah, rather, you did all of them about half all of the things which happened to be permissible. Those are moments Yes, you will not they will not be recorded against you. Yes, they will not be recorded for you. But when you get to jedna insha Allah and even before that, when you get to the Hereafter, then the hustler will start to remorseful start that Oh, how I wish I could have filled up my hair Oster by doing something at that moment in which I was doing.
Okay, by doing something in that moment in which I was doing that would develop my hair after further. So there's only three possibilities about what you're going to think about your your life after you finally get to the afterlife, the first possibilities you will either have remorse, okay. And that's the least of the three. Okay? That's the least of the two actually. The second possibility is that you will be very, very happy and that's when you look back at the times that you filled up with goodness and piety and charity and good ethics and good conduct and vigor and Sala Anza kawatte and all of these beautiful things. And the third possibility is democracy. The
disobedience is of a lot of others that he was jealous
That will be, that will be something a person will have grief for, I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala, to increase our happiness on the in the day on the day of judgment and in the Hereafter, I mean,
by increasing the reward of the time that we spend within the obedience of a lot of Buddhism. And I asked him not
to grant us the trophy to completely avoid the sinful moments within our lives. And I asked Allah Subhana Allah to allow us to take those moments in which we do the indifferent things and fill them up with goodness, yada, Aloma, I mean,
you see, sometimes, we think that we have a lot of time. So because of that we fill up our time with time with a lot of indifferent things. What does that mean? We things which we think are neither going to affect us nor harm us. But when we start thinking of the fact that that moment could develop something in the eternity, something at infinity, you says to Panama, and allows the widget places for you a tree and gender

either a moment of grief, either a moment of happiness, or either a moment of remorse. And we want to increase the moments of happiness and we want to decrease the moments of remorse and grief.
I asked Allah subhanaw taala to grant us that opiate to practice and to convey
now that you've made a deal with yourself with your soul, okay? That you are going to be among the people that in the seal in the transaction in the trade in the barter with Allah azza wa jal, you will be someone who will prosperous, who will be prosperous, and who will prosper.
Now the second thing for you to do and for AI to do is a maraca is for us to have oversight. You see, even in your business transactions, as I explained in the beginning, right? After you've defined all of the code of ethics, after you define the terms of the contract, now, you give the contract off to the person they sign it you they start working for you or you start working for them. What's the next step? You have to oversee everything that goes on within this transaction? Isn't that so? So similarly, when it comes to your transaction with a lot of
your murabaha your spiritual accounting, now you have to oversee yourself why
you are up in your intellect, in this transaction with your soul and Allah azza wa jal, your intellect is the one that is that is conducting this transaction you see the self the soul is sometimes encouraged to do evil, right? We have the knifes within us that's a motto Ebisu it constantly commands us to evil, it is the intellect it is the apple, you know why they say Apple for the word intellect in the Arabic language. Or they call it new here as well. Why? They say the reason why they call it Apple is because Apple means manner, I am narrow to stop something, okay? So the apple ends up stopping you from the evil. And no, you're also because the word means also to
stop so that the know your your intellect, it ends up also stopping you from evil. So your intellect is the one that will get to oversee this entire transaction. And that's why the Prophet alayhi salatu was Salam was was was the most perfect of all human beings. Why is that? Because he was the most strongest of all of them in intellect. He was an openness. Okay. And because he was the strongest of all of them intellect, he was the strongest of all of them in conduct as well. And he was the most beautiful of all of them in conduct as well. So if you want to conduct correct conduct yourself correctly, then it is the intellect that will help you conduct yourself okay. It is your
mind that will help you conduct yourself. So you have to employ this mind not in pondering different ways and different strategies to do the harm but different strategies to oversee the soul. Okay, the oversight, so this intellect will be overseeing the soul and enforcing the soul into submission. Right? And this is what they call a moral code.
You see, once you start to get yourself into this mental state of Morocco about what me What that means is oversight.
And the deeper meaning of that is that your intellect recognizes, and your mind recognizes, and your soul recognizes that Allah azzawajal is constantly observing you, okay? And if Allah azzawajal is constantly observing you than a person of intellectual knows he's being observed from above, a person of intellect would always observe everything within his or her care. So since the soul is within the care of the mind, and the mind recognizes that it is under divine supervision, than it is for a person of intellect, to do what to supervise the soul, as well.
So you supervise the soul, because you understand you're being supervised by a lot of children as well. You oversee the soul soul, because your mind recognizes the fact that, that there is oversight from Allah as origin within this as well. And that's why a young man, he came, and he became connected to a shape, okay.
And he became a student. And this shape, he started to look at this young man, and he would give him a lot of attention, he would give him a lot of attention, more so than some of the other people who are maybe even the elderly, within that gathering. And the people, they started to say, this person is new, he's young, he's all of these things. But you seem to be observing him more carefully and carefully, then all the rest of us, you seem to be opening up to him more than all the rest of us Why? So chase? they asked him. So the shift said, let me
give you all a test. He didn't tell them it's a test. But he said, Okay, I have an idea. I have these knives here, you take all every one of you take one knife, and I have these birds also over here, each one of you take one bird, okay.

This student came back and he didn't end up slaughtering this bird.
So the sheikh said, Why didn't you slaughter the other students? They said, Why didn't you slaughter actually they started decisis upon law, we have one on this man, because the shank was giving him so much attention and the one simple command of the sheath, or the encouragement of the shift the student was unable to fulfill. So when asked and inquired, this young student, he says, I searched and I searched and I searched. And I couldn't find a single place in this world in which a lot of publicity will tell is not watching. So I couldn't slaughter desperate.
We have to get into this mental state where we recognize that a lot of Buddha is that evil gentle is watching us, okay? Because every single moment, Allah is watching us, right? And remind yourself of that.
How do you remind yourself of that? You remind yourself of that, by getting to know Allah azzawajal You know, there is nothing that will remind you of the morava of Allah azza wa jal, the fact that Allah azza wa jal is observing you nothing will remind you of that more than you learning about a lot of
learning about the Beautiful Names of Allah azza wa jal, learning about the fact that is a lie as the origin is a Latif Allah azza wa jal is Al Habib, Allah azzawajal is an Elohim Allah azza wa jal is a rocky, Allah azza wa jal is the one who knows that which was a large origin knows that which wasn't. A large origin knows that which isn't. And that which will not be, if they were to be how they will be. That is the knowledge and the power of Allah. Allah azza wa jal knows as he tells us in the Koran, what matters to me rocketing Illa Allah Maha, Allah knows that every single time a leaf falls, when it's falling and where it's falling and how it's falling. The more you learn of

At that moment, you will never do something that will be displeasing them. So, if you come to a position where it's as if you see a larger agenda, you will never be able to do something that displeases Allah. But the prophets of Salaam knew that most of us, except us detain and accept us only when they will never be able to achieve this state. So the Prophet alayhi salatu salam, he says, For 11 contura, who fell in the hole Iraq, that if you are not able to see him and that is the fact that you are not able to see him at least not in this life. Then Allah azza wa jal himself is watching you that is a recognition that you and I through learning about Allah azza wa jal can come
So think about this. And once we see our souls, and observe our souls for all of the shooter with all of the conditions that we had defined for ourselves after fudger once we observe our souls for every single moment that we spend whether we are going by the conditions of Allah as the agenda, we reminded ourselves of our time, right?
If we continuously oversee ourselves, that's the only way we will be able to progress Look, my dear brother, my dear sister, if every single day when you have a business deal with someone else think about it will lie sometimes we are so negligent with a lot of the agenda and we're so keen on this world. If when you have a business deal with someone else. You are so keen on Penny pinching at every single cent you have to keep record of then when you make a deal with Lars or gel as you have done after fudger as you will in sha Allah, as you've done throughout your life as you were done before you were even born.

The fact that we are Muslims, that is a covenant with Allah, the fact that insha Allah, Allah, we will wake up next tomorrow morning and precondition ourselves for our transactions with Allah azza wa jal, that is your covenant with Allah. So just as you are k keen about your conditions with other people in business, then be keen on your conditions with a lot of Buddhism, as well. That's the only way we're going to be able to gain profit. Okay.
You see, you have a capital U and I have a capital.
And then in addition to the capital, we also have a profit as well. And then we have a loss. Just as in business transactions, we have a capital
we have a profit and we have a loss as well. Your capital
are your bare minimums, your capital are your YG about your obligations, your Salawat and if you have the gods do upon you, then you're exactly what and if you have hedged you upon you then your hedge, if you have and what I do upon you, then your own law, if you have parents who have your who you owe rights to than them, if you have other people that you owe rights to them, these are your obligations, that's your capital. So by doing that, some of us what we do is when we do that, we say and hamdulillah we have sufficed inshallah, right.
But they say in reality, that is just your capital, you're only staying afloat. When you get into a business transaction in this world. Do you do that just to stay afloat? Or do you try to make a profit? Of course, you try to make a profit, otherwise your time to yourself is being wasted. So if you do just the capital, the bare minimums, that even within this life, what are you doing, you're just wasting your time because you're actually here to gain capital, gain profit, and not just maintain the capital. So your profit is going to be above and beyond the bare minimums because when you go below the bare minimums, you've already started.
To go into loss, okay, and that is the loss of the hereafter. Another form of loss is the sin. So if you commit a sin, you're already decreasing your capital. Okay? The more sins a person commits, the more that capital is decreasing. So in order for us to ensure that we end up winning, and we ended up surpassing and we ended up profiting within this spiritual transaction of ours, then we have to ensure that we maintain the capital, we minimize the loss, ie the sins, and we ensure that we continue to gain profit by increasing the deeds that are above and beyond our obligations with a lot of validity, which are not.
So how are you going to conduct this maraca? I'll give you three easy steps to conduct this maraca. Every single time you get yourself into an action, any time a thought comes to you ask yourself three questions. Okay. Three questions. Very simple, very easy. If you're taking notes, take them down. If your heart is your notepad, make sure it's engraved
three easy questions. The first question is Lima.
What is the underlying factor because of which I am thinking of doing this? What is the underlying factor for which I'm doing this? We haven't we haven't gotten to your intentions yet. What is the underlying factor for doing this? Is it a shower? Is it a desire that is causing me to do this whatever it may be, whether it may be a business that you're making, whether it may be you coming to the masjid, whether it may be, you know, you getting married, whether it may be, you know, you visiting a relative, whatever that may be? Is it a shower? Is it a desire? Is it, you know, a personal wish? Is it a hope? Is it something for Allah? Is it for your religion? Is it for the
hereafter? What is the underlying factor that's causing me to go down the path of this particular action? The second thing that you want to ask yourself is, how am I doing this action? Okay, how am I doing this action?
Let's say it happens to be something good within your mind.
It's not enough that it happens to be good. In addition for it to be good, you also have to ensure that the wholeness of your action is correct as well, how am I going to be doing this action? And the only way you will know how to make sure that the How is correct within your actions is by ensuring that you learn the knowledge of how to do this action. If you're going to purchase a house, how do I ensure that my loan is held, okay?
If you're going to purchase a car, then just as you ensure that you learn everything related to the car that you need that best best fits your need, you also have to make sure that the money that you're using to buy this car is Hello, hello. So how are you going to do this? And last but not least is Who are you doing this for? Okay, Lehman.
Lima. Okay, fair. Lehman, these are the three questions. Who are you doing this for?
Are you doing this because normally, you're either going to be doing something for a lot of publicity and gentlemen, or you're going to be doing it to please yourself, or Please someone else, okay. And you only have a limited amount of time, and you only have a limited amount of air that you're going to be able to read within this world until your quota of air is finished and Allah azza wa jal makes you seize from existence, okay. So, you have to ensure the first thing and correct the first thing first thing and that is what is the underlying factor behind this action, if you can minimize the underlying factors that are worldly than do so.
And if you can maximize the underlying factors that are for your hereafter, then do so, because this finite life leads to an infinity of bliss or the other way around, okay.
If you can decrease the amount mitigate the amount of actions that you do within this life, the underlying factor for which is do neogi, which is dunia related transitory, then do so. Okay. And make sure that the vast majority of the pie of your life is being conducted for a lot of publicity in general, or for something related to the hereafter. The second thing is that every action you do ensure that you learn something about it, my dear brothers and sisters will lie. today. We don't have any excuse. Why is that? Because on every single thing we do, literally information is so readily available, that it's hard to imagine that a person will not be able to find information to
ensure that they're doing things basic.
And knowledge, okay. Yesterday and in the past, we used to have, you know, stories of people who are worshipers of Allah azza wa jal, who have who are ignorant, perhaps even today, there are those examples as well. But then they've decreased and a person who's keen on ensuring he gets it right. He knows how to get this information today, even from the deserts of Arabia, because internet is starting to reach in many places in the world. Right? So information is available. So make sure that every action you do you do it in the right way. You know, People sometimes ask questions about financing, right hold on hold on this or that lie, there's so much information related to it now
that it's going to be very simple and easy for you to find that information. And if you're not able to find that information, just as you're willing to bring the greatest of experts to ensure that your house is made correctly, and the best of architects to make sure that it's designed correctly, then you should be willing to pay someone to be able to audit your contracts to ensure that your transactions are held. Right.
