kathira Dear brothers and sisters, tonight we are
going to be speaking about one of the
greatest journeys in the history of recorded faith.
That is the journey of the Prophet Sallallahu
Alayhi wa Sallam from Mecca to Jerusalem, to
the heavens and back.
Al-Isra ul-Mi'raj And SubhanAllah as
we get to it, obviously in the previous
lecture we covered all of the lead up
to Al-Isra ul-Mi'raj So just
a quick recap The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi wa
Sallam has just faced Aam al-Huzun the
year of grief He lost Khadija radiAllahu ta
'ala anha He lost Abu Talib Every door
to his da'wah Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam
has been shut.
He faces the rejection of the people of
Ta'if without the comfort of those who
used to console him after other forms of
rejection that he faced Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala takes him on
this journey from the house of Umhani radiAllahu
ta'ala anha the sister of Ali radiAllahu
ta'ala anhu from Mecca to Jerusalem, to
the heavens On the way from Mecca to
Jerusalem, as we said, Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala allowed the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
to pray in different locations He ascends the
Buraq with Jibreel alayhi salam Jibreel alayhi salam
took the heart of the messenger of Allah
Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and this time, instead
of taking something out of it, he poured
something into it, and that was what?
Two things that we can never get enough
of Well Zamzam, we can never get enough
of Zamzam for sure Al-imanu wal hikmah
Faith and belief to affirm him further in
faith and belief, seals up his chest, he
prayed Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam two rak'ahs
in the hijab of Ismail alayhi salam He
made his way to Al-Madin al-Munawwara,
Tayba and he prayed two rak'ahs there,
not knowing that it was Tayba until Jibreel
alayhi salam told him that this is the
place of your hijrah, and then he prayed
in Sinai, where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
spoke directly to Musa alayhi salam, and then
he prayed in Bayt Lahim, where the birth
of Isa alayhi salam took place and then
he arrives at Al-Quds he arrives at
Jerusalem where Jibreel alayhi salam strikes a place
for the stone he ties the buraq to
that stone he enters into Masjid al-Aqsa
he prays two rak'ahs sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam, and then he turns around and he
sees all of the prophets have been gathered
for him alayhi salatu wa salam, and he
leads all 124,000 prophets in prayer afterwards
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will take
the second part of this journey, which is
the Mi'raj, which is the ascension of
the messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
as we said Allah could have taken the
prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam directly from Mecca
to the heavens why did he choose this
place, and we listed a number of reasons,
one of them was that this was the
qibla at the time and so it is
a sign of bringing the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam nearest to Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala he will bring him to the nearest
point in dunya and then he will bring
him to the nearest point in the heavens,
by the qurb of the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam the closest of the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, when Allah will speak directly
to him we talked about the virtues of
the land, the ard itself the land itself
is mubarakah it's blessed, and so Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala brought him there for that
purpose, we talked about the virtues of al
masjid al aqsa and so Allah azawajal brought
him there for that purpose, and the virtues
of the salah, that are there in particular
from the dua of Sulaiman alayhi salam, that
whoever prays two rakahs there, purely for the
sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, will
leave with their sins completely taken away like
the day that their mother gave birth to
them we talked about this being the place
of anbiya and shuhada prophets and martyrs, that
not a single hand span of that area
exists without a prophet that has lived and
dwelled and taught from that place, and we
said that this is also the only place
where prophets have ascended to Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala that we know about, Idrees alayhi
salam Isa alayhi salam ascended from that place
and also Isa shall descend in ash-sham
so this is the portal between the heavens
and the earth we also said that this
is the place of the end of times
that all of the significant incidents of the
end of times tend to focus on that
area, finally it is al ardul mahshab it
is the place of assembly and from that
place as believers, we pray that we will
go on our journey to jannah, as the
prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam went on his journey
through the heavens and saw what he saw
sallallahu alayhi wasallam quick recap so that we
can now get into the mi'raj itself
the beautiful assumption of the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam now a quick note what month are
we going into now?
Rajab and it is a very popular opinion
amongst the scholars that this journey that we
are speaking about happened in the month of
Rajab and that's why there is always specifically
a lot that surrounds the 27th of Rajab
however, just like other significant incidents in the
seerah, it's not actually certain that this is
the time that this happened with the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam, everything from the birth date
of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam to the
death date of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam
to the hijrah of the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam there is ikhtilaf, there is a difference
of opinion as to when exactly this took
place, and imam bin Hajar rahim allah ta
'ala records all of the opinions in this
regard, many of the scholars indeed said that
it is the month of Rajab which we
are in right now a large group of
scholars said that it was Rabi'ul awwal
in fact, it's probably the most dominant opinion
after the celebrated opinion if you will, that
it was Rabi'ul awwal the same month
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was born in,
that he died in, and the rebirth of
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam of sorts took
place in Rabi'ul awwal and the hijrah
of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam took place
in Rabi'ul awwal some of them said
it was Rabi'ul thani the second month
of Rabi'ul and some even said Ramadan
that it was the month of Ramadan obviously
at that time the command to fast the
month of Ramadan had not yet come, and
that's a very minor opinion, but the ulama
that tried to justify that said, well this
is a month in which the Quran was
revealed and it is a month in which
many blessings descend, and so it would make
sense that it took place in this time
all in all, Allah knows best, but of
course it is in the memory of the
Muslims that it is Rajab, that the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam would have taken this journey
alayhis salatu wassalam before he takes that journey
as we said, Jibreel alayhis salam, who washed
his heart with zamzam offered him two drinks,
the drinks were what, no one knows what
was offered to him wine and laban, I
heard halib, that's how you know us, we
get into the shami debate, is it halib
is it laban milk and wine sallallahu alayhi
wasallam, he was offered these two drinks and
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam chose al laban,
he chose to drink from the milk, now
obviously anything coming from the hand of Jibreel
alayhis salam is halal if you want to
make the argument, he's not sinful sallallahu alayhi
wasallam for what he takes, in fact the
prohibition will come later but the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam chose what was closer to the
fitra and by the way, no one gets
to go and drink alcohol and say it
was offered to me by an angel and
that's why, no, it's haram for you all
the time, the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam chose
the milk and Jibreel alayhis salam felt joy
at that and in elation, he said alhamdulillahi
alladhi hadaka lilfitra all praises be to Allah
who always guides you to the natural choice
the good choice, your disposition law akhatha al
khamr if you would have drank in the
wine, ghawat ummatuk your ummah would have gone
astray it would have had an effect on
the orientation of your ummah so the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam chose well as he always
would, sallallahu alayhi wasallam due to the natural
guidance that came from Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala to him alayhis salatu wassalam al buraq
is left in Jerusalem while the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam will now ascend through the heavens
with the hand of Jibreel alayhis salam now
some of the books of seer, it's not
in a hadith form, which means that the
authenticity is not as rigorous, they narrate that
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam saw like a
ladder of sorts which the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam said resembles what a man sees at
the time of death something that represents ascension,
but it's not like the ladders that you
are used to, something that represents that you
would move up high, and it's made of
silver and gold, but it represents the transition
from realm to realm that the believing soul
takes at the time of their death however,
what we know what is authentic of course
is Jibreel alayhis salam takes the hand of
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and he ascends
with him sallallahu alayhi wasallam the way that
this process is going to work is that
every time the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam gets
to one gate of the heavens the angel
who is at that gate will ask, who
is there and it is Jibreel alayhis salam
and who is with you Jibreel Muhammad sallallahu
alayhi wasallam ursila ilayhi has he been sent
for sallallahu alayhi wasallam and Jibreel alayhis salam
will say yes let me give a little
bit of context to this because it's extremely
important for 23 years the rupture of the
heavens was greater than ever when Jibreel alayhis
salam would come down to the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam with the quran and the angels
would surround Jibreel alayhis salam as he was
coming down from heaven to heaven and they
would say what did your lord say and
Jibreel alayhis salam would say he spoke in
the truth and he is the most high
and the most great the angels would faint
at the strength of the revelation the power
of the revelation coming down to the heart
of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and so
they know that in these 23 years supernatural
things are happening of the descent of the
quran to the heart of the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam and when Allah permits some of
them are able to come down from the
heavens in the entourage of Jibreel alayhis salam
as he reveals it to the heart of
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam like for example
surah al-an'am which came to the
prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and he looked up
and he saw 70,000 angels accompanying Jibreel
alayhis salam with the revelation to speak it
to his heart for the first time sallallahu
alayhi wasallam to descend it into his heart
now the man himself alayhis salatu wasalam is
going through those heavens notice as well that
they're not asking when Jibreel says it is
Muhammad and as Suyuti rahimullah says they are
accustomed to Malik al-mawt the angel of
death bringing up the souls why is Jibreel
bringing a man with him notice that when
Jibreel alayhis salam says it is Muhammad sallallahu
alayhi wasallam sallu ala rasulillah I don't see
anyone's lips moving they don't say who's that
they all know who he is sallallahu alayhi
wasallam and so they step aside and they
welcome the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam to that
heaven and they say marhaban bid nabi salih
welcome to the noble prophet and so they're
celebrating him sallallahu alayhi wasallam as he's going
from earth to heaven, to heaven, to heaven
they were waiting for his arrival sallallahu alayhi
wasallam and in that in his ascension alayhis
salatu wassalam the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam is
seeing that just as the world was closing
in on him the heavens are opening up
to him just as more and more people
were closing in on him to reject him
more and more angels are welcoming him sallallahu
alayhi wasallam into the heavens and there's also
a beautiful reflection here that the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam mentioned that every heaven is bigger
than the one prior to it so the
heavens open up each one of the heavens
is like a needle in a desert a
drop of water in the ocean so insignificant
in size compared to the next one, so
what about as-samaa al-dunya what about
this world that we're in right now and
subhanallah if you think about that you know
often times when we are caught in our
world of problems we forget how small our
world actually is and so what Allah has
created is bigger than your world bigger than
your perception bigger than your interactions and so
when you realize that, when you gain perspective
on that, then it's not just your world
that gets smaller your world's problems get smaller
as well because you're able to cast it
into that perspective and so the ratio of
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam's perspective is growing
as he is ascending from heaven to heaven
and seeing more and more and more and
more sallallahu alayhi wasallam and then the messenger
of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam will meet the
prophets now this is the core subject of
what we're going to be speaking about tonight
or reflecting upon particularly from Nisa ul Mi
'raj tonight is the meeting of the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam with the specific prophets that
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has chosen every
prophet before the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam prophesized
on earth his arrival they knew of the
seal of the prophets to come and now
every prophet in some capacity is welcoming the
prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam upon arrival now all
of the prophets were present in Masjid al
-Aqsa but Allah azawajal chose a select few
for him to meet in person sallallahu alayhi
wasallam and to actually have a conversation with
and there is so much to reflect upon
here of the wisdom and I could literally
say that there are books upon books that
have been written just elaborating on the hikm,
the wisdom of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam
meeting the prophets that he met and what
they represented at that particular point of his
journey and I want to make a few
things clear, number one the prophets that he
met alayhi sallallahu wasallam are not necessarily the
most important of the prophets and messengers there
are some that are missing that are of
a higher rank than some of those that
he will meet alayhi sallallahu wasallam that's number
one number two, the order that he meets
them in does not represent their rank necessarily
in terms of virtue now Allah azawajal says
la nufarriqo bayna ahad min rusri that he
does not distinguish between any of his messengers
that's talking about the scope of their mission,
not their virtues because there are some prophets
that are higher in virtue than others and
the prophets that are highest in virtue are
ulul azmi min ar-rusul so generally speaking
you have ar-rusul which are 315 or
so of the 124,000 anbiya, and the
rusul every messenger is a prophet as well
as being a messenger not every prophet is
also a messenger, so that group of rusul
are higher than are higher than those that
are just anbiya amongst the rusul, amongst the
messengers there are ulul azmi min ar-rusul,
there are those who are of the highest
rank amongst the messengers of Allah, one of
them who in fact is the first of
them who's not seen, who the prophet salallahu
alayhi wasallam doesn't necessarily talk to in as
-salawah al-mi'raj is who?
who's the first rasul to mankind Nuh alayhi
salam Nuh alayhi salam and we know that
from the hadith of shafa'ah the hadith
of intercession that on the day of judgment
as the messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wasallam
talks about the people running from prophet to
prophet messenger to messenger, when they see Nuh
alayhi salam they will say you are the
first of Allah's rusul, you are the first
of Allah's messenger, why?
because the first people to commit shirk on
earth were the people of Nuh alayhi salam
therefore Nuh alayhi salam is doing more than
simply reminding the people of the covenant of
Adam alayhi salam he's coming with the legislation
he's bringing them back to tawheed with the
legislation, alayhi salam so he is awwal rusul
the first of the messengers of Allah the
prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam does not meet him,
alright, except in the gathering of al-aqsa,
so that's number one, the second thing in
terms of tarteeb, if you're reading in surah
Maryam Allah azawajal mentions if you go in
the order of the prophets wa thkur fil
kitabi Ibrahim innahu kana siddiqan nabiya so first
it's Ibrahim alayhi salam then who's next?
let's go through the hifadh of surah Maryam
who comes after Ibrahim alayhi salam wa thkur
fil kitabi Musa and then comes Ismail comes
Idrees right, did I miss anyone?
I'm trying to go through the ayat in
my head as well, so it's ayat like
40 until about 55 alright, wulaika allatheena an
'amallahu alayhim until the end of that verse
the point is that the order of the
prophets has a wisdom to it and the
scholars mentioned that of the benefits of that
in surah Maryam, I believe it's Ibrahim and
then Musa and then Ismail and then Idrees,
is that Allah subhana wa ta'ala what
Allah is highlighting here is indeed the virtue
and Musa is greater than Ismail in terms
of virtue, otherwise if this is about coherence
in terms of just the structural coherence of
family Ibrahim and then Ismail but Musa is
higher in rank than Ismail even though Ismail
is the son of Ibrahim right, so Ibrahim,
Musa and Ismail and then Idrees, and Idrees
is certainly not as high as Ismail alayhi
salam or Musa alayhi salam or Ibrahim alayhi
salam, the point is is that when Allah
gives us a tarteeb, when he gives us
an order there is a hikmah, there is
a wisdom to that order and so the
prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will meet people
in a very particular wise order, and that
order is not of virtue otherwise Yusuf alayhi
salam would not be higher than Isa alayhi
salam Harun alayhi salam would not be higher
than Isa alayhi salam, because Isa is from
ulul azmi minal rusul, he is from the
greatest of Allah's messengers, and some of the
scholars they debate after the prophet sallallahu alayhi
salam is it Ibrahim alayhi salam is it
Musa alayhi salam is it Isa alayhi salam,
and they all make their arguments in that
regard as to who the greatest of Allah's
messengers after Rasulallah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam actually
is ok, so there is a wisdom here
of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam meeting
these different prophets and messengers what I want
to do is give you a framework, I
want to give you a framework as to
how to reflect on those wisdoms and I'm
summarizing about 600 pages here, so bear with
me see it through the following lenses as
the ulama highlighted number one a dominant theme
in the life of the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam was rejection, the nature of rejection
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was being
rejected right and left right so see the
order in terms of the nature of how
they were rejected by their people, that's number
one number two the magnitude of grief because
it was am al huzun the year of
grief so the magnitude of hardship that these
prophets faced see it in terms of the
magnitude of hardship ok, so that's another way
and I'm going to go through prophet by
prophet inshallah ta'ala number three the dominant
theme in this regard is migration is hijrah
every one of the prophets that the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will meet and speak
to made a massive hijrah a massive migration
and the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is
about to embark on his hijrah because the
islamic mi'raj takes place about a year
before the hijrah of the messenger of Allah
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam it was a glance
hiding of the hijrah to come so three
themes again, can you all repeat them to
me I need to know you're with me
inshallah before I proceed the weather is nice,
I'll keep you all night what is it?
Rejection the magnitude of hardship and grief, so
rejection hardship and hijrah so these are the
three main themes that you can summarize the
majority of what the ulama have written about
this and I'm giving these three themes to
make it easy for you to process and
digest it as the dominant themes so let's
go through them now the messenger of Allah
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says that in the
first heaven I saw a man and he
was sitting and there were some souls that
were going to his right and some souls
that were going to his left when he
looked to his right he laughed when he
looked to his left he cried and he
kept on looking to his right and kept
on looking to his left so he said
I asked Jibreel alayhi salam who is this
man he said that this is Adam alayhi
salam so the first prophet that he sees
is Adam alayhi salam and he says the
people on his right or all of these
people are his offspring the souls on his
right are the souls that are destined for
jannah, the souls on his left are the
wicked souls that are destined for hellfire, may
Allah protect us from the hellfire and make
us from the people of jannah, Allahumma ameen
so Jibreel explains when he looks to the
right when he sees a saved soul he's
happy when he looks to the left when
he sees a soul that is doomed he's
saddened by that alayhi salam now he greets
the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam says marhaban
bil ibn salih wal nabi salih, welcome to
my righteous son and a righteous prophet ok
so Adam greets the messenger of Allah salallahu
alayhi wa sallam in that way now what
are the wisdoms of this through those lenses
first and foremost he resembles the prophet salallahu
alayhi wa sallam in his mission to save
as many people as possible and the prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam was the one about
whom Allah says fa la'allaka baqi'un
nafsaka ala atharihim that the prophet salallahu alayhi
wa sallam felt so much grief it's like
you're killing yourself over their fate over where
they're going to go and the messenger of
Allah salallahu alayhi wa sallam said that I
am to you like a man that is
a man who kindles a fire and he
stands in front of that fire and the
bugs start to fly into that fire and
I'm trying to catch as many people as
possible so that they don't fall into that
fire and the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
said and I'm grabbing you by the waist
belt like I'm not letting you go I'm
trying to hold you to the very last
moment so that you don't slip out of
my hands but you're insisting upon throwing yourself
in that fire so Adam alayhi salam's depiction
the father of humanity it represents what the
prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam feels when he
sees a saved soul versus when he sees
a doomed soul the joy of the messenger
of Allah salallahu alayhi wa sallam over salvation
the sadness of the prophet salallahu alayhi wa
sallam over damnation so it represents this theme
in the messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wa
sallam's life Adam alayhi salam faced adawatu shaytan
the core enemy of humanity the rejection and
the enmity of shaytan himself Iblis himself and
Iblis is the enemy of all humanity the
enmity of all of men and women that
come from the offspring of Adam alayhi salam
so the rejection and the enmity of shaytan
who is the enemy of humanity his hardship
was that he was expelled from paradise out
of paradise and his hijrah was from paradise
to earth the migration of Adam alayhi salam
is the most drastic of migrations in that
regard from paradise to earth and that hijrah
would end up being good for him that
hijrah would end up being good for him
because as Ibn al Qayyim rahim Allah describes
Adam alayhi salam in this regard that when
Iblis caused Adam alayhi salam to be expelled
from paradise he was overjoyed but what he
didn't understand is that Adam alayhi salam is
like the diver who goes to the bottom
of the ocean he gathers the pearls and
the rubies at the bottom of the ocean
and then he comes up once again and
he has in his hand the pearls and
the rubies of the bottom of the ocean
so Adam alayhi salam was expelled from paradise
the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam was expelled
from Mecca but he came back to paradise
with even more in his hands of valuables
than when he was expelled so the sadness
that he felt at expulsion was a real
sadness he cried for hundreds of years the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam cried at the
expulsion of Mecca he turned around and looked
at Mecca and he cried over the hijrah
from Mecca salallahu alayhi wa sallam but he
came back and the pearls and rubies in
his hands were undoubtedly the Ansar came back
higher, elevated salallahu alayhi wa sallam with a
new group of people alayhi salatu wa salam
so think of the themes in this regard
Adawatu shaytan the rejection and enmity of shaytan
the hardship of being expelled from paradise to
earth, the hijrah from paradise to earth that
ended up being in his favor when he
returns home he returns home with even more
alayhi salam just as the Prophet salallahu alayhi
wa sallam would return home with even more
salallahu alayhi wa sallam then he ascends to
the second heaven and as the Prophet salallahu
alayhi wa sallam ascends to the second heaven
who did he meet?
if you mumble to yourselves I can't hear
you so it doesn't help me when I
just hear mumbling in the audience someone say
it loud like you know he said I
met the two righteous cousins who are the
two righteous cousins?
Isa and Yahya Yahya alayhi salam who was
beheaded in ash-sham his head taken to
where we now see in Damascus Isa alayhi
salam who they attempted to crucify in the
same place the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
just left right and Allah azawajal ascended him
to the heavens from Palestine where the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam was now ascending in
the heavens and Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wa sallam
is looking at Isa and Yahya and of
the wisdoms that the ulama mention of Isa
alayhi salam being in the second heaven is
that he is in the closest of the
heavens above the heaven immediately of the earth
because he is still meant to come back
again so his descent is still imminent at
any point and so he is in that
heaven at this moment these are not the
darajat of al-jannah very important here, these
are not the degrees of al-jannah, we're
not talking about that yet we're still talking
about the heavens, not paradise and there is
a difference between the two and here Isa
alayhi salam the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
said he described his beauty alayhi salam, he
said that he the person who resembles him
most is Urwa bin Mas'ud al-Thaqafi
radiAllahu ta'ala anhu, I did a lecture
on him on the first, please go watch
it he's an incredible fascinating human being Urwa
bin Mas'ud radiAllahu anhu and the thing
is subhanAllah when the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa
sallam said this Urwa was still a kafir
he was a disbeliever and he was one
of the key negotiators of Quraish who tried
to grab the beard of the Prophet salallahu
alayhi wa sallam but Allah guided him to
Islam and he died, a shaheed radiAllahu ta
'ala anhu an incredible companion, but a beautiful
appearance, very imposing appearance, radiAllahu ta'ala anhu
Isa alayhi salam is described, he said it
looked like he had just come out of
the shower, long beautiful curly hair and like
the gems are falling from his hair alayhi
salam, the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam was
struck by his beauty now subhanAllah, this is
a side note because it's really interesting in
the narration of Ibn Abbas radiAllahu ta'ala
anhuma, his skin is described as lighter in
the narration of Ibn Umar Ibn Umar radiAllahu
anhuma says, wallahi ma qala li Isa ahmar
the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam did not
say reddish skin but instead he described his
skin as a darker tone which means what,
so the the debate over what colour Isa
alayhi salam was even goes back to the
sahaba in that regard but, but Isa certainly
did not look like the guy on Passion
of the Christ or in all the movies
that you're seeing across your screen he definitely
doesn't look European and it definitely doesn't matter
what colour he is and that's actually the
point, is that it's actually subhanAllah, completely irrelevant
in this regard, okay funny story by the
way, the guy that played Jesus in Passion
of the Christ, got struck by lightning two
times on set look it up ask your
GPT or Google or whatever alright, I even
forgot the guy's name got struck by lightning
twice okay, on set but he still went
and finished the movie like, he's not getting
it even at that point, that maybe this
isn't the best idea to imitate a Prophet
of Allah in this regard so the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam met Isa alayhi salam
and he met Yahya alayhi salam, the two
noble, righteous cousins in that heaven in terms
of rejection Adam alayhi salam faced the enmity
of humanity Isa alayhi salam and Yahya alayhi
salam faced the enmity of their own qawm
of their own people two wisdoms that the
scholars mention, they say either it's that the
enmity is closing in, so some of the
scholars mention, there is adawat al-insam there
is the enmity of like shaytan and the
enmity of humanity, and then adawat al-qawm,
the enmity of your own people which hurts
more so some of them said, it's referring
to that some of them said, it's adawat
bani israeel because the Prophet salallahu alayhi salam,
when he would make his way to Medina,
would now face the enmity of bani israeel,
the same enemies of Isa alayhi salam in
this regard when they turned on Isa alayhi
salam, and some of them even said to
the Prophet salallahu alayhi salam, we can believe
in you but not Jesus right, as a
condition, subhanallah, in that regard, so either way,
it's the enmity is closing in the nature
of rejection is closing in, as Adam alayhi
salam made hijrah from jannah to earth and
back Isa alayhi salam makes hijrah from earth
to the heavens and then back and when
he comes back to the earth he will
grow in his portfolio, in his profile alayhi
salam, so it will not just be a
hujjah a proof against those who try to
kill him, and an expansion of his virtue,
right establishing tawheed and justice on the entire
earth and leading with righteousness for seven years
and making hajj in Umrah alayhi salam and
living and dying in Al Medina and all
the beautiful things about his second coming and
his second return that are recorded right, and
everything that he gains from that but it's
also subhanallah the entire package of the continuation
of his good deeds, so the point is
that Isa makes hijrah he was forced right,
they tried to expel him, they tried to
crucify him, Allah azawajal took him to the
heavens, he comes back to the earth and
expands in his portfolio, and so his hijrah
was better for him as well, his grief
his hardship, the enormous hardship of facing an
attempted crucifixion and subhanallah, you know if you
look back at the stories of the attempts
of crucifixion, just as there was an attempt
to diversify blame diversify the blame what was
the plot of Quraysh against the prophet salallahu
alayhi wa sallam shed his blood with multiple
hands so that no one hand has to
take the blame no one tribe has to
take the blame and that was the plot
that they would make against the messenger of
Allah salallahu alayhi wa sallam so Allah azawajal
took Isa alayhi wa sallam from being squashed
into a place of crucifixion to the heavens
and the reward for him continues in this
regard then the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
ascends who did the messenger of Allah salallahu
alayhi wa sallam see Yusuf alayhi wa sallam
messenger of Allah alayhi wa sallam meets Yusuf
alayhi wa sallam marhaban bin nabi salih wal
akhis salih so Isa and Yahya they greeted
the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam marhaban bin
nabi salih wal akhis salih welcome to a
noble prophet and a noble brother and the
prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam said ana awlan
nas bi isa ibn maryam I am the
closest of people in the world to isa
ibn maryam to Jesus the son of Mary
because there is no prophet laysa bayni wa
baynahu nabi there is no prophet between he
and I and the prophets are brothers they're
like step brothers right, that they share the
same source of revelation so all of the
prophets now after Adam alayhi salam they're greeting
him marhaban bin nabi salih wal akhis salih
a noble prophet a noble brother so Yusuf
alayhi salam says to him welcome to a
noble prophet and a noble brother what do
you think the prophet noticed about Yusuf alayhi
salam first his beauty now you all are
talking mashallah everyone's awake now he brought in
Yusuf alayhi salam and everyone woke up Yusuf
alayhi salam the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
was stunned by his beauty said he was
given half of al jamal half of beauty
subhanallah and as the scholars say rasulallah salallahu
alayhi wa sallam was given all of beauty
you know there's a man ajmal who's more
beautiful Yusuf alayhi salam or Muhammad salallahu alayhi
salam and the scholars reconciled they said Muhammad
salallahu alayhi salam was actually more beautiful than
Yusuf alayhi salam but his jamal was covered
by his jalal alayhi salatu wa salam his
beauty was covered by his glory which is
why people couldn't stare at the prophet salallahu
alayhi salam you know when someone's just too
much that you put your head down and
that's why Ali ibn Abi Talib radiallahu ta
'ala Amr ibn Aas radiallahu ta'ala we
were with him but we put our heads
down I couldn't describe him to you because
we didn't have it in us the audacity
to stare at him salallahu alayhi salam even
though he was so beautiful because he had
so much hayba so much presence alayhi salatu
wa salam so we put our heads down
so the prophet salallahu alayhi salam's jamal was
beautiful was clothed by his jalal in that
regard his glory and so there was a
respect that clothed his jamal Yusuf alayhi salam
was given half of al jamal half of
beauty and subhanallah this is of course a
wisdom and a gem for all of us
that we will all enter into al jamal
with the beauty of Yusuf alayhi salam right
with that same type of beauty now think
about it in terms of the themes enmity
there is adawatul insan adawatul qawm adawatul ikhwa
the enmity of your own family the enmity
of humanity the enmity of your own people
the enmity of your own brothers your own
family which is the case of Yusuf alayhi
salam and that's the worst of them all
right that it comes from your own home
right that rejection and that enmity hijra Yusuf
alayhi salam was forced to make hijra from
palestine to muslim and it was for his
own good in that he became a king
right or what resembles a king alayhi salam
resembles a prime minister right in his role
when he made that hijra his hardship was
followed by tremendous ease everything that Yusuf alayhi
salam went through had a parallel ease so
he went from being the favored brother to
being the favored leader right he went from
being a prisoner a slave and a prisoner
to being a king and a rescuer every
there's a flip like if you took Yusuf
alayhi salam's life and you put side by
side Allah azawajal replaced everything that he went
through with an ease that resembles the hardship
that he went through similar to the messenger
of Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam and subhanallah the
wisdom and the beauty as it relates to
palestine his brothers threw him into a well
in palestine under the rubble right they threw
him into a well in palestine thinking that
he would be erased they threw him into
the bottom of the earth in palestine Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala allowed the prophet salallahu
alayhi wasalam to meet him in the high
heavens just think about the imagery of that
thrown into a well in palestine and now
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam is meeting him
in the third heaven alayhi salatu wasalam and
just as the brothers of the prophet salallahu
alayhi wasalam right his own tribe his own
tribe which is so hurtful wanted to get
rid of him right and wanted to expel
him from Mecca in hopes that the world
would not hear of him it was from
Medina that the light of the prophet salallahu
alayhi wasalam would reach the world wa rafa
'na laka dhikrak and Allah would elevate the
name of the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam throughout
history throughout the heavens and the earth for
all places and all times and so you
don't rid yourself of this man Allah azawajal
will save him will elevate him and then
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam met who Idrees
alayhi wasalam and Allah azawajal says wadhkul fil
kitabi Idrees innahu kana siddiqan nabiya wa rafa
'naahu makanan aliyya the only thing we get
about Idrees alayhi wasalam is that we raised
him to a lofty position wa rafa'naahu
makanan aliyya wa rafa'na laka dhikrak we
elevated him to a high position you too
will be elevated to a high position salallahu
alayhi wasalam Idrees alayhi wasalam how does he
end up in the fourth heaven?
Ibn Hajar rahim Allah mentions of the narrations
in this regard that Idrees alayhi wasalam wanted
to ask how much time he had left
on earth for the sake of his da
'wah he's planning a big project he's planning
the next mission of his da'wah and
he wanted to know how much time he
has left so Jibreel alayhi wasalam took him
to meet Malik al-Mawt to ask about
his appointed time as he is taking him
through the heavens Malik al-Mawt is descending
to take the soul of Idrees alayhi wasalam
Jibreel alayhi wasalam asked Malik al-Mawt how
much time does he have left?
Malik al-Mawt takes his soul right there
in the fourth heaven, meaning he's the only
man to die in the heavens Allah wrote
it for him that he would be raised
to that place to die, to have his
soul taken and so he resided there right,
and remained there and actually died, Idrees alayhi
wasalam did not die yet, Idrees alayhi wasalam
had actually died in the fourth heaven, what
is the lesson that we take for the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam or of the beautiful
reflections Idrees alayhi wasalam was not pursuing was
not pursuing a high mansion, but Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala gave him one because of
his sincerity Idrees wanted to know how much
more time he had to spread Allah's greatness
on earth right, and Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala gave him a great position in the
heavens likewise, the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam in
his sincerity, he wasn't seeking a throne, he
was seeking Jannah he was seeking Allah's pleasure
and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala would not
just bring him back to Mecca but he
would bring him to Fath Mecca to the
conquest of Mecca Fath Mecca and the Fath
of Jannah if you will the opening of
paradise as well, Allah would give him so
much more, would bring him back in a
much mightier mansion then there's a turn in
the Prophets that he meets in the fifth
heaven who did he meet?
Haroon alayhi wasalam and Haroon alayhi wasalam the
ilmah mentioned about him he was loved by
his people and he came back to his
people beloved just as the Prophet salallahu alayhi
wasalam would one day return to his people
beloved ok, so there was a love Haroon
alayhi wasalam was beloved by his people he
had the softer approach and he had the
higher love even though subhanallah they made a
mockery of him later on ya ukhtah Haroon
they call him the fallen prophet and so
they mocked Maryam alayhi wasalam o sister of
Aaron o sister of Haroon but the ilmah
mentioned the return of Haroon alayhi wasalam or
the return of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam
to gain the love of his people as
well and then in the sixth heaven the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam met who?
Musa alayhi wasalam again marhaban bil ibn al
salih wal nabi al salih welcome to a
noble Prophet I'm sorry to a righteous Prophet
and to a righteous brother and the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wasalam is meeting Musa alayhi wasalam
now if you think about the way that
the Quran was being revealed to the Messenger
of Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam Musa alayhi wasalam
is the most revealed about man in the
Quran but that is more of a madani
reality it's more of a madani reality meaning
if you take the Quran up until the
point of al isra wal mi'raj it's
not necessarily Musa alayhi wasalam it's many of
these Prophets that he's meeting and subhanallah of
the beauty of it is that imagine Yusuf
alayhi wasalam surah Yusuf was revealed to the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam to give him comfort
in his heart to give the Prophet salallahu
alayhi wasalam affirmation and right after surah Yusuf
comes to the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam meets Yusuf alayhi wasalam
so the Prophets, the nature of the stories
of the Prophets that was coming to the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam were the Prophets in
their hardships even Musa alayhi wasalam the bits
and pieces of his story up until that
point are in the capacity of the hardships
that he faced and so here are the
names that were being revealed to you and
now you're seeing them in their full glory
as Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given
to them in Madinah of course, especially as
the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam is dealing with
Bani Israel and you have the longer surahs
the long stories of Musa alayhi wasalam start
to come as well but the Prophet salallahu
alayhi wasalam said I saw Musa alayhi wasalam
and he was crying Adam alayhi wasalam was
crying too but Musa alayhi wasalam started to
cry in a different way and they weren't
the tears of despair or tears of grief
they were tears of joy but with halal
envy halal envy I'll talk about what halal
envy is and then I'll talk about the
difference between the difference between envy where you
want something bad to happen to someone and
where you you see something and you envy
them for the right reasons and in good
ways so like the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam
mentioned someone who Allah gave money to but
they spend it in the way of Allah
and someone who Allah gave knowledge to and
they teach it in the way of Allah
so you wish, not for the money or
for the fame, you envy them over their
good deeds I want to aspire to do
good like they're doing like the envy of
the poor of the of the muhajireen, of
the rich right, in this regard the poor
of the ansar of the rich so he's
crying and he said, ya rab this is
a young man who you sent after me
and his ummah will enter into jannah in
greater numbers than my ummah sahih muslim so
it's like there's a sense of pride and
love for his brother but at the same
time Musa alayhi salam knows that his ummah
was the ummah right before the ummah of
Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasalam subhanAllah, so many connections
you can make in this regard the largest
ummah after the ummah of Muhammad salallahu alayhi
wasalam is the ummah of Musa alayhi salam
the largest ummah on the day of judgment
after the ummah of Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasalam
is the ummah of Musa alayhi salam as
it relates to Al-Quds was it not
Musa at the gates of Jerusalem with his
ummah and they earned the prohibition upon themselves
but this ummah was promised instead and given
its opening and its security until the day
of judgment instead, right so it is not
looking at the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam wishing
for his downfall or hating the messenger of
Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam in any way it's
Ya Allah that's him this brother of mine
who you gave even a greater share of
entrance into Al-Jann but marhaban bin nabi
salih welcome to my pious brother and my
pious a pious prophet we'll get back to
Musa alayhi salam on the descent he then
goes to meet Ibrahim alayhi salam obviously Musa
alayhi salam the story of his hijrah, well
known traveled through the sea right, placed into
the Nile Musa to Madian and back and
so many other places right and the hardship
was clear Ibrahim alayhi salam now the prophet
salallahu alayhi wasalam will meet him and subhanallah
you think about the lead up to this
meeting with Ibrahim alayhi salam Rasool Allah salallahu
alayhi wasalam as he enters now into the
highest heaven he says that I saw a
man reclined with his back against what appeared
to be Al-Bayt Al-Ma'mur Al-Bayt
Al-Ma'mur means the frequently visited home it's
the equivalent of the Kaaba in the heavens
70,000 angels enter everyday to do Tawaf
never returning so imagine the site of Tawaf
in the heavens of the Malayka the equivalent
of the Kaaba on earth Ibrahim alayhi salam
when he built the Kaaba on earth with
his son Ismail alayhi salam and he made
dua for the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam to
be from his descendants and to achieve what
he was destined to achieve and now Ibrahim
alayhi salam is sitting in the heavens with
his back to the Kaaba and he sees
the fruit of his dua approaching didn't the
prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam introduce himself and say
I am the dua of my father Ibrahim
and his son Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasalam just
came from the Kaaba on earth there are
too many connections to make here on the
buraq what Ibrahim alayhi salam rode from Palestine
to Mecca to leave Hajar and Ismail and
back now the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam boards
the buraq from the same place of Ismail
alayhi salam to Palestine and now up to
Ibrahim alayhi salam and he is from the
Kaaba of the earth to the Kaaba of
the heavens and looking at the man from
whom a dua manifested him salallahu alayhi wasalam
and a da'wah to Ibrahim and the
prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam said that I've never
seen a man who looks more like me
than Ibrahim and so the description of Ibrahim
alayhi salam is the same shama'al of
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam he had long
black hair he had bold eyes alayhi salam,
he had a thick beard the same description
of the messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam
in the shama'al a smooth nose is
all the same description of the prophet Muhammad
salallahu alayhi wasalam and Ibrahim alayhi salam as
he is sitting with his back to the
Kaaba in the heavens and his legs extended,
he says marhaban bin nabi salih wal ibn
salih welcome to a noble prophet and to
a noble son the only one who called
him that before was Adam alayhi salam and
now Ibrahim alayhi salam was calling him that
as well subhanallah, the journey of the messenger
of Allah started from the hijr of Ismail
and here he was the chamber of Ismail,
here he was the promised prophet, the son
of Ibrahim alayhi salam through that son and
he says, I said to my father assalamu
alaykum wa rahmatullah marhaban bin ibn salih wal
nabi salih and Ibrahim alayhi salam who was
always thinking beyond the immediate when he was
in Mecca he wasn't just thinking about the
son that was with him and if they
would establish the prayer he was thinking about
the descendants of that son, extending the prayer
and then the descendants of that son, having
a prophet amongst them, he's always going beyond
alayhi salam and here, just as he made
dua walil mu'mineen, for the believers Ibrahim alayhi
salam says to the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam
ya muhammad salim ala ummatika when you go
back, I want you to give my salam
to your ummah and tell them that Jannah
has a vast plain of pure soil and
sweet water on leveled lands and the plants
in the trees of Jannah grow by saying
subhanallah wal hamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wa
allahu akbar so he sent salam and he
gave the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam something to
tell us to increase our share in Al
-Jannah now subhanallah walil mu'mineen, Ibrahim was always
thinking about the believers and even in that
momentous occasion, he says give my salam to
the believers and he said rabbana li yuqeemus
salat oh Allah, I want them to establish
the prayer and our prayer is established with
salat Ibrahim at the end Allahumma salli ala
muhammadin wa ala aali muhammad kama sallayta ala
Ibrahim wa ala aali Ibrahim subhanallah and he
said salam to us and our prayer includes
salam upon him alayhi salatu wasalam so he
met his father Ibrahim alayhi salatu wasalam and
Ibrahim alayhi salam faced the adawa, the enmity
of his own father and he too was
expelled he was actually thrown into the fire
all of his clothes burnt off and not
a single person to take him in and
the ulama mentions subhanallah when the prophet Saysam
made hijra he had the ansar to receive
him Ibrahim alayhi salam had no ansar he
said to Sara laysa alal ardi mu'min there
is no believer on earth illa ana wa
anti, except for you and me it's just
us but look where Allah brought him to
so ya rasool Allah you are destined after
this hardship for greatness in a way that
you could never perceive the prophet salallahu alayhi
wasalam mentioned that at that point we continue
to ascend, and forgive me I know I'm
going for a longer time tonight he said
as we continue to ascend qala ra'aytu
jibreel walahu sittu mi'ati janaah yantashiru min
reeshihi ttahweeru minaddurri wal yaqoot jibreel alayhi salam
jibreel alayhi salam assumed a new form when
he came to me in the beginning of
al-asawir mi'raj he was wearing a
green garment but he was in his human
form now jibreel alayhi salam had broken into
his heavenly form rasool Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam
only saw that form of jibreel alayhi salam
at the beginning of the revelation in surah
al muddathir in the hadith of jabir ibn
abdullah he said I saw jibreel alayhi salam
spreading his 600 wings across the entire heavens
and the earth filling up the space between
the heavens and the earth and I saw
him from this way this time the prophet
salallahu alayhi wasalam sees him that way from
the heavens so he sees him with a
downward perspective filling up the space between the
heavens and the earth afatu maroonahu ala ma
yara walaqad ra'aahu nazlatan ukhra this is
the second sight that Allah is mentioning with
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam at where?
sidrat al muntaha the low tree which is
the uppermost boundary of the heavens rasool Allah
salallahu alayhi wasalam said that it was its
leaves were as big as the ears of
an elephant and its colors were completely indescribable
I always tell people salallahu alayhi wasalam something
very simple if you've ever snorkeled or scuba
dived and you see the colors at the
bottom of the ocean you can't describe those
colors with the spectrum that we have here.
What then of the colors at the highest
heavens prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam said I can't
give you a color I can't tell you
if it was red or gold it's indescribable
colors of that tree and then the prophet
salallahu alayhi wasalam said that this was the
point at which Jibreel alayhi wasalam was stunned
qala nazartu ilayhi fa idha huwa kalhils albani
min khashyatin la he was like a flattened
rug out of his awe of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala looking up and only the
prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam will pass this boundary
to be addressed by Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala and Allah will speak to the prophet
salallahu alayhi wasalam directly Musa alayhi wasalam was
kalimullah was the one spoken to directly by
Allah on earth.
Rasulallah salallahu alayhi wasalam is the one spoken
to directly by Allah in the heavens so
another leverage another degree of favor that's given
to Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasalam awha ila abdihima
awha Allah revealed to him what he revealed
you see much of that conversation we don't
have it right I hate to break it
to you but atahiyatulillahi wassalawatu wa tayyibat in
your salah that's not narrated that that was
the conversation between the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam
and Allah azawajal we don't have much of
what actually took place in this conversation between
Allah and the messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi
wasalam awha ila abdihima awha Allah revealed to
him what he revealed this refers to according
to Ibn Abbas salallahu alayhi wasalam and others
the two ayat that Allah revealed to the
prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam directly not through the
established means of Jibreel alayhi wasalam what are
those two ayat the end of surah al
-baqarah the two verses at the end of
surah al-baqarah ok and there is a
sign subhanallah that at this point he gave
him that and we know he legislated to
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam as-salat the
prayer in that conversation the mandatory prayers al
-maktubah 50 prayers in total were given to
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam in that is
a sign as Imam Hassan Basri rahimallah mentions
as-salatu mi'raj al-mu'min the prayer
is the ascension of the believer Allah brought
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam to that highest
point physically to give him the legislation of
salah and that's a sign that the believer
who wants to ascend by soul ascends through
their salah to that direct conversation with rabbul
arsh al-azim with the lord of the
mighty throne ok so the legislation 50 prayers
and the last two ayat of surah al
-baqarah look at the irony subhanallah the last
two ayat of surah al-baqarah part of
it is rabbana wala tahmil alayna isran kama
hamaltahu ala lathina min qablina rabbana wala tahminna
ma la taqatalana bih that we don't have
a legislation from Allah that's beyond our scope,
that we don't have a legislation, a burden
like the burden of those who came before
us but he's coming down alayhi salatu wasalam
with 50 prayers he meets Musa alayhi wasalam
on the way back Musa kalimullah the one
who was spoken to by Allah on earth
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam spoken to by Allah
in the heavens what happened with you oh
Muhammad said Allah just legislated the salah similar
to Musa alayhi wasallam wa aqeem as-salata
li dhikri dinna allah tam fee wadi tuwa
wa aqeem as-salata li dhikri established the
prayer from my mention ok, how much is
it?
50 prayers, Musa alayhi wasallam says not gonna
happen your ummah will not be able to
do it I have experience here I'm the
prophet that came before you, I struggled with
my ummah for a very long time 50
prayers is not going to work with them
they're going to refuse it they're not gonna
be able to handle it ya Muhammad sallallahu
alayhi wasallam now subhanallah in here shows you
the beautiful envy because if Musa alayhi wasallam
said here's my opportunity to take a little
bit of his followers off of him so
my ummah can be a little bit more
proportional to his maybe now we can be
more no, no, Musa alayhi wasallam says go
back to your lord ask your lord to
reduce the obligation maybe you and by the
way subhanallah Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam do you
really think the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam had
a problem with praying 50 prayers no, he
loved to pray comfort us with it oh
Bilal he'd pray at night so no companion
could stick with him sallallahu alayhi wasallam not
even Hudaifah ibn al-Yaman, Abdullah ibn Mas
'ud they couldn't pray qiyam with him sallallahu
alayhi wasallam because it was too long, he
loved his salah, 50 prayers for the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam not a problem, you think
Abu Bakr would have had a problem with
it so it's not him that he's talking
about, right but the ummah so he goes
back to Allah asks Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala for a takhif for reduction, comes back
to 25, half of them 25 prayers, Musa
alayhi wasallam says what happened, he said he
reduced it to 25, Musa alayhi wasallam said
go back, it's not gonna work they need
less so he goes back to Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala and he brought it back
to 10, down to 10 prayers Musa alayhi
wasallam says, not gonna work, some of the
ulama say that Musa's people had the obligation
of 7 prayers in total, and they rejected
it they lost their prayer خَلَفَ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ
خَلْفًا أَضَاعُوا الصَّلَاةَ right, they lost the prayer
said they can't do 10, go back the
prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam went back and got
5 salawat, Musa alayhi wasallam said go back,
even Musa alayhi wasallam said 5 prayers is
a lot right, and the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam felt shy to go back to Allah
and to ask for a reduction in this
regard, and so it remained 5 prayers but
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala announced that the
reward of 50 is maintained with 5 so
when you pray your 5 prayers you're still
getting the reward of praying 50 prayers but
not with the burden of praying 50 prayers,
and subhanAllah in that is a characteristic of
the prophets, Musa alayhi wasallam reduced the prayers
for us through his advice to the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam, so we don't feel overburdened
Ibrahim alayhi wasallam gave the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam advice for how to increase our rank
in paradise so we could realize more of
al-jannah shows you the way that the
prophets are brothers to one another and then
the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam mentions that I
was shown al-ummah I was shown the
nations and he said sallallahu alayhi wasallam I
saw some prophets that had one follower some
prophets with 10 some prophets with a large
number, some prophets with no followers whatsoever, subhanAllah
imagine you meet a nabi of Allah, no
followers no one followed them, they were rejected
by every one of their people then he
said I saw this large ummah and I
said to Jibreel alayhi wasallam is that mine?
and Jibreel alayhi wasallam turned the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam to another ummah that ummah that
he was looking at was the ummah of
who?
Musa alayhi wasallam, it was Bani Israel so
there are a large number of the people
of jannah but he showed them another group
and he said haa ula this is your
ummah and it was larger twice as large
as the or much larger than the ummah
of Musa alayhi wasallam in this regard subhanAllah
so many things here, number one the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam at this point only had
a handful of followers that's number one and
this is who we see it's going to
survive and remember subhanAllah when the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam met one person that would believe
in him on the day of ta'af
and it was Addas and Addas was from
the town of Ninewa Ninewa from Yunus alayhi
wasallam ardi akhi Yunus Yunus alayhi wasallam at
one point gave up and now the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam was meeting Addas from the
land of Yunus alayhi wasallam and the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam on the day of ta
'af when Jibreel came to him and he
introduced him, not the heavens, the angels of
the heavens but the angel who moves mountains
so I can crush them all, the prophet
sallallahu alayhi wasallam said maybe their children will
believe in Allah and now he's meeting those
children who believed in Allah he's meeting those
descendants who believed in Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam
and in the context of Al-Aqsa because
they can't destroy Al-Aqsa without destroying the
people of Al-Aqsa and they have never
been able to destroy the people of Al
-Aqsa in that ummah, the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam has the people of Gaza he has
the Marabitun, the people of Palestine, the people
of Palestine and bithnillah ta'ala we were
there when you say I was there, we
were there bithnillah when the prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam looked at us as an ummah, with
pride that that's my ummah I know I
need to wrap up but of the scenes
that the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam sees also
on his descent Rasulallah sallallahu alayhi wasallam he
smells a sweet musk on that night of
Al-Isra and Al-Araj he says Jibreel
what is that what is that beautiful smell
and Jibreel alayhi wasallam says it is the
hairdresser of the daughter of Firaun not Ibrahim's
trees, not Musa alayhi wasallam's pouch not Isa
alayhi wasallam's hair an unknown woman who is
the hairdresser of the daughter of Firaun huge
lesson, the most belittled people are usually the
ones that are in the service industry if
you will right, you look past them the
maids, the servants these people who no one
asks what their name is, no one inquires
about who they are, people just walk past
them you think they're insignificant wasn't that a
problem with the woman who used to clean
the masjid of the prophet alayhi wasallam they
didn't want to wake the prophet alayhi wasallam
up to go pray janazah on her and
bury her it's just human condition right, think
about how insignificant on earth the hairdresser of
the daughter of Firaun is and what happened
to her one day the prophet alayhi wasallam
was smelling her musk meaning what she has
in the heavens is incredible one day as
she was combing the hair of the daughter
of Firaun she dropped the comb and she
said Bismillah the daughter of Firaun looked at
her and said, who?
Allah?
ta'ni abi?
you mean my dad?
Firaun?
says no talking about rabbu abik the lord
of your father and the daughter says you
want me to tell him?
she said go ahead Firaun brings forth this
woman, says what did you say?
so I said Bismillah who?
is there a lord besides me?
imagine the scene of this woman, this powerless
vulnerable woman with no one to protect her
in that moment, looking at Firaun on his
throne and says rabbi wa rabbuk my lord
and your lord, Allah Firaun prepares a pit
of fire and he burns each of her
children in front of her think about the
people of Gaza subhanallah the prophet alayhi wasallam
met a victim of a genocide on the
night of all of her children one by
one are thrown into that pit of fire
in front of her now you go and
subhanallah her one request, and there is so
much here, so much wisdom here her one
request was that the bones be gathered together,
that when my flesh is burnt off my
body, whatever is left of my bones be
gathered with my children Firaun threw her into
a ditch of fire hoping that she would
not be mentioned or remembered Allah is showing
her to the prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam in
the highest heavens with the mention of the
likes of Ibrahim and Musa and others, subhanallah
the flesh burnt off of her bones, she
wanted to be with her children when we
talk about the people of Gaza disseminated, broken
up into pieces Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
elevates and puts back a new flesh, and
puts back more than what was taken, the
rot of genocide becomes the sweetness of the
musk in paradise of this woman, and there
is a lesson here as well we've come
to know Khalid Nabhan, Hind Rajab may Allah
have mercy on them all, these incredible shuhada,
for every ruh ruh, there are other Khalid
Nabhans that we will never know that were
also genocided in Gaza who were just as
beautiful with their smile, just as regular and
righteous in the masjid, who had just as
much of a painful interaction with their loved
ones as they were bidding them farewell but
we never caught them, but Allah caught them,
and Allah saw them and Allah rewards accordingly,
and subhanallah in that latifa, in that miracle
surat al-isra is then preceded with surat
al-kahf, surat Maryam surat al-kahf is
about miracles that happen to ordinary people surat
Maryam is about miracles that happen to prophets
and so the prophet the miracles of the
prophets and the miracles of ordinary people on
that night as well I'll end with this
inshallah, I'll save the rest of this for
next week, bismillah it's the return of the
messenger of Allah, peace be upon him he
saw on that night all of these incredible
scenes, he saw al-jannah wal-naar, he
saw paradise and hellfire he saw Isa, peace
be upon him and he saw al-dajjal
he saw the good, the bad, he saw
all the opposites, but his faith is increased,
remember Jibreel Isa poured more faith in his
heart, and wisdom in his heart and Ibrahim
Isa asked Allah to show him more so
that he could increase in faith right, so
certainly, seeing things right, laysal khabr to hear
things is not like seeing things so now
that he saw all these things so Isa
even is more addition to it, peace be
upon him in terms of certainty but now
he comes back to Jerusalem he gets on
the buraq once again with Jibreel Isa, he
makes his way back to Mecca one of
the narrations is that he even asks Jibreel
Isa who's going to believe me with all
of this Jibreel Isa says yasduquka as-siddiq
it's enough, Abu Bakr will believe you as
-siddiq will believe you and that's where he
gets his nickname the truthful one, he will
affirm you in this journey of yours then
he says I got back to Mecca and
when I got back to Mecca I told
the people what happened they said wait, what
did you say?
Abu Jahl is listening, these people have been
trying to discredit him all these different things,
sorcerer, liar what did you say?
you went to Jerusalem, came back last night,
hold on one second everybody come hear this
out, hear what he's saying now, we've been
waiting to discredit him now we have it,
alhamdulillah well they're not saying alhamdulillah, but you
get the sentiment we now have it, we
can discredit him, Abu Jahl everyone's calling him
over, listen to what he has to say,
and the prophet says laqad ra'ituni fil
hijr I can see myself in the hijr
in that chamber that area of Ismail Aislam
wa Quraysh tas'aluni an masraya and Quraysh
is interrogating me and saying, oh really, what
happened then and what happened then, and they're
getting such a laugh out of this Abu
Bakr radiyallahu anhu before the prophet could go
tell Abu Bakr what happened, the Islamophobes reached
Abu Bakr first said, did you hear what
your friend said?
what did he say?
said he went to the heavens and came
back qalith kana qalaha faqad sadaq if he
said it, he's telling the truth wait, what?
you're a smart man Abu Bakr you're not
troubled by this?
no, absolutely not he is the truthful one
salallahu alayhi wa sallam if I believe that
Allah speaks to him from above seven heavens,
of course I believe that Allah can take
him and bring him back in one night,
what's the big deal?
if he said it he's telling the truth,
which should be your reaction every time you
read an Islamophobes commentary when they say, oh
look at this hadith first of all, most
of the time it's fabricated, but if he
said it, he's telling the truth salallahu alayhi
wa sallam, I just don't understand it yet
the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam says that
I was in the middle, in Mecca and
all these people are coming fasa'alatni an
asya'a min bayt al maqdis lam ufbitha
they started to ask me about things in
Jerusalem that I hadn't yet captured I mean
this was an intense journey for the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam he saw a lot
in that night, and then you're asking him
about the small details of what did that
corner look like, and what did that door
look like, people that came from Jerusalem before
oh tell us about this, tell us about
that and the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
said fakurittu qurba I felt such grief and
I never felt that grief mithnuha qat, I
never felt that type of grief before, that
anxiety when they were asking me qala fa
ghafa'ahu allahu li anzuru ilayhim then suddenly,
Allah raised Jerusalem for me in the courtyard
of Mecca and I was looking right at
it ma yas'aluni an shay illa anba'tuhum
bihi every time they asked me something, I
simply said this, this, this and that, they
asked for the fine details, imagine the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam with his back to
the Kaaba and the people interrogating him about
Jerusalem, and the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
is looking at al Quds in front of
him and he's saying, this is where this
is, this is where this is, this is
where this is this is where this is,
and suddenly they're going, this is backfiring again
every time we try to discredit him, something
happens and it backfires, how does he know
all this, on top of that al bayhaqi
rahimallah and others narrated, Ibn Hisham narrated Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam said that I saw
a caravan on my way back there was
a travelling caravan that's coming on its way
to Mecca, and he said salallahu alayhi wa
sallam that they had a water pot and
the pot was covered, he said, I descended
I drank from that water pot and I
covered it and he said, and they lost
one of their camels, and he describes salallahu
alayhi wa sallam the number of camels and
the way that the camel looked, and he
said, I alerted them to it that they
heard a roar, and this camel went running
away, I alerted them to it, and they
went chasing after that camel and they retrieved
that camel and put it back to their
caravan, the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam said
ask them when they arrive in Mecca and
when they arrived in Mecca they said exactly
what the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam said
that they had that number of camels and
that there was that night, and they heard
a voice, they didn't know where it came
from, and there was some water that was
missing from their jug and the Prophet salallahu
alayhi wa sallam was once again exonerated in
all of this dear brothers and sisters inshallah
ta'ala with that, we will go ahead
and conclude, and we will continue next week
bi-idhnillahi ta'ala because the next time
the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam reaches Jerusalem,
it will be his letter calling the people
to Allah and the Messenger of Allah sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam we ask Allah subhanu wa
ta'ala to send his peace and blessings
upon him, and as he gave the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wasallam some relief after hardship through
that journey through Al Bait ul Maqdis, may
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give relief to
the people of Al Bait ul Maqdis today,
as he took the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam
from the earth to the heavens, may Allah
subhana wa ta'ala take our shuhda from
the earth to the heavens in an instant,
and as he took the Prophet salallahu to
that momentous meeting with him.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala allow us
to be taken to meet him while he
is pleased with us and as he gathered
the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam with the prophets,
may Allah gather us with the Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam and with the Anbiya and with
the righteous prophets.
Allahuma Ameen.
JazakumAllahu Khayran wa salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa
barakatuhu.
