The Pursuit of Knowledge

For our day to day affairs, there must be lessons for us to learn. And one of these stories that are mentioned in Surah Al Kahf. Towards the end of it is the story of Musa with Al hidden and from the very verses that are mentioned in Surah Al Kahf. I would like to do some reflections with you today. And hopefully we'll find or we'll see some very relevant lessons for all of us. So in the Quran,

the story begins with Musa making a statement and sort of guff. Musa alayhis salam Who's Who is the most mentioned prophet, and his story, various aspects of his story are mentioned in the Quran all over the Quran different different parts. And one of these of these stories, right, is his story with al Qaeda at some point Musa Islam as mentioned in a hadith

Allah subhanaw taala Musa wonders who the most knowledgeable person is,

right? Or blue slide actually asked him who the most knowledgeable person is, he assumed that he is the most knowledgeable person on the face of this planet. So Allah Subhana Allah told him that there is someone who has more knowledge that than him, either it means he has more knowledge altogether or it means that he has knowledge that he doesn't have.

So he knows things that Musa Instagram doesn't know.

So Musa alayhis salam

asks ALLAH SubhanA, WA Tirana to allow him to meet this person and learn from him.

So the story begins with Musa making this statement to his one of his disciples, one of his students, right, an apprentice of his.

And Allah subhanaw taala says, What are the side effects are Hector?

Rainy, I'm the Hakuba.

So he says Musa to him to him, to this young assistant of his, he says to him, I will never give up in pursuing this person, until I reach the area where the two bodies of water where the two seas or two oceans meet.

Or I will continue to travel for ages took over, even if it takes me so many lifetimes. I am committed to this. Right there you see how committed Musa alayhis salam is for what

he's committed to seeking knowledge.

Now Musa has plenty of knowledge, he's a messenger of Allah, he's a prophet of Allah. Yet when he learned or when he knew that someone has extra knowledge so that someone has more knowledge or has, you know,

knowledge in a particular area who Sally said I'm pursued that person and he went as far as he could.

And he was committed. Musa wasn't joking. He wasn't exaggerating. When he said to his disciple, I will continue to pursue this person, even if it takes me ages

and some of us

knowledge what

is made so easy for us. I mean, the access to knowledge is made so easy for us is a click away.

And we find it to be difficult to pursue knowledge from its authentic sources.

And we complain.

So Musa alayhis salam makes this commitment. And practically he shows his students what it takes to be.

He is the Messenger of Allah, not the alum, He is a messenger of Allah open line of communication that he receives why you cannot reach a higher level.

You can't have more credentials, you can't be

you can't beat that. Yet. Musa alayhis salam shows his student, a commitment as a teacher, he humbles himself, and goes to pursue knowledge from someone whom he doesn't even doesn't appear like he knows who that person is, or what his name is. And Allah doesn't mention these details, you know, the name of that person. So Musa alayhis salam travels. And then when the sign that he was looking for

happened, they lost their food they had,

they had a fish

to eat, and that fish miraculously jumped into the water. And he lost it. Now, you Challis. So I'm, the fatter of Musa his disciple, his assistant thought this was a disaster, we lost our food.

Yet he didn't realize after they passed that place, Musa Hassan didn't even realize that he was at the right place. And he went beyond it. So he wasn't joking when he said, I will go as far as I can, if I can't find him where I thought were, you know, I think he is, I will go further to look. So they went past that point. And then when he told him that we actually lost the fish over there, he said, that's what we were looking for. That's a sign we wanted, what we thought was a loss actually was the sign that we were looking for.

And this happens in life.

For those

who are looking for the signs of Allah subhana data, and have trust in the Mercy of Allah, and in the Promise of Allah subhana wa Tala, sometimes you lose something. And it's meant for bigger gain. So Musa alayhis salam goes back, and he runs into this person. Again, the name of this person is not mentioned, he doesn't go and confront that person who say, what are your credentials? What's your level of education? Who are you? Allah already told him that this person has knowledge that Musa alayhis salam didn't have that was enough for him, to humble himself before this person and learn from him. And yet nowadays, you have people who challenged the messenger of allah sallallahu alayhi

wa salam.

You have people who have the audacity to say, we can't accept everything that we find in the Sunnah.

I even had people tell me things like, Well, I don't know if the prophets I said lemma tells me something that doesn't make sense to me. I don't even know if I'm ready to accept it. Subhanallah and the problem is, in a hadith, it says that there are two individuals that will never learn a person who is too shy to learn, and the person who's too arrogant to learn.

And this is the problem with many people nowadays. We miss out on opportunities to learn and educate ourselves and improve ourselves in many areas, because because we know that we think we know better

than the specialists.

We even challenging argue with a specialist.

Right? So Musa alayhis salam comes to this man and he says,

and this person is identified as abdomen, imagine he's one of our servants.

Right? What a title, abdomen. Allah subhanaw taala says, We have given him

mercy from Us. Why Athena whom Allah generic man Allah subhanaw taala equipped him or gave him knowledge from from Allah subhanaw taala.

So Musa basically makes a proposal he said, Can I be in your company?

Can I join you? Can I be with you, and to eliminate him or limb to rooster, so that I can learn from you?

Right?

And

this in and of itself also is another lesson. Because there is knowledge there is experience and knowledge that comes from being in the company of people of knowledge.

Right? Sometimes it's not what they tell you, it's what they do.

That you can learn from Musa alayhis salam is doing that with his student, but he's showing him that he himself also is committed to that.

So I'll Hagar whose name is actually identified in the Hadith says to him, you won't be able to handle this.

The type of knowledge that I have, it will be very difficult for you

To be patient with it, you may not have the patience

to learn from me. Right? And this is again, another lesson, you know, sometimes, right? Not every person is capable of learning from every person.

Right? But at the same time, you have to have patience, if you want to learn, you have to have patience, you have to have humility, and you have to have perseverance. And you have to be patient with your teachers.

So Musa alayhis salam says to him, No, I will be committed, I will handle this. Now. That right there, the prediction of Elijah was correct. Another new Musa wasn't going to be able to handle his style of teaching for too long. Musa thought he what he could handle it, because what could go wrong? Musa alayhis salam, after all handled very tough tests and trials in his life.

Right? What he endured in Egypt, his journey to Medion, the 10 year that he spent in Midian, his journey back to Egypt, his in the biggest of all trials, the confrontation between him and Pharaoh, and the magician's.

And he was able to beat all of that by the will of Allah subhanaw taala. And then he parted the sea. And he crossed. And he led by nuestra in which in and of itself was a very hard mission to accomplish. He led by Noah Israel,

right, after all of these accomplishments, what could go wrong?

So they travel and the very first lesson, the very first lesson was that they were, they were carried by a group of people who did them a favor. Right? They were

they, they sailed with them in a ship. So another goes, and he actually pulls two of the two of the platform of that ship. Two pieces of wood

causing,

right,

you know, a defect in it.

Musa alayhis salam couldn't handle that. Why would you do something like this, these people did us a favor. And this is how you reward them by damaging their property.

And not only that Musa accuses him of Little do you want them to, to sink to drown? You want this ship to sink? What were you thinking? Okay.

So I'll hit the reminder. He said, See, didn't I tell you that you won't be able to handle it? And Musa remembers, he says that to me, please don't forgive me for this. I forgot I couldn't handle it. I forgot you were right. I will be patient. I'll hold myself. Now the next lesson was what? Even harder?

Right, the next step.

Musa alayhis salam says, al Qaeda, the province of Saddam tells us in the Hadith that I'm killed, or actually saw a little child playing with other kids. And he goes straight to that child and executes him.

I know this, this is not meant for minors, but he executes him. In a in a very vicious way.

Right, Musa is is is taken by that? How could How can Musa handle something like this? This is Musa they set up who actually stood up for a man who was beaten in Egypt, and it costs him a lot. Remember, this is Musa alayhis salam who stood up for two women who are waiting for their turn to water their hurts, because Musa could not see something go wrong and not do something about it. And this is obviously wrong. What has this child committed to be treated like this? Why would you do anything like that? You have just taken an innocent life. Allah reminded him, didn't I tell you that you won't be able to handle this? I'm in Canada, Sofia, Maria sobre. I told you Musa this is going

to be very hard.

And he says to him, you know, if I if I ever do this again, then

then that's the end of this. And Musa now is trying very hard to hold himself and not object to anything, until he is told why these things are these events happen.

So Musa had a sermon on how to go to a town.

And then the people of this town mistreat them, unlike the owners or the sailors, who were very nice to them, and they took them and gave them gave them a lift, give gave them a ride. Let them bored with them. Unlike these people, the people of this town once they reached one of their destinations, which Musa didn't realize was going to be the last destination with with

the people of that town would not show them any hospitality. They were asked

usually very cruel and mean to them. They were very hostile

forever why you'll die if they refuse for what you do if you had your data or you read a young cop and the to notice that there was a wall, about to fall apart. So uncover goes and he starts

And now Musa is puzzled. These people were so mean to us. And now you're doing them a favor. And we ask ourselves, how could this possibly be something good for us?

You suffer something, you suffer a loss, something goes wrong, things don't go as you planned. And then someone comes to you and says, it's all good. And even like, how could this be good?

The Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam said if you're a believer, I believe every moment for every for the believer, anything that happens to him or her turns out to be good for them. So there is something good in it for you. You just have to have faith and you have to trust Allah subhana wa Tada.

And you have to have the right attitude. And the person the person wonders, in the case of Musa Allah was there to explain to break it down. It won't happen to ordinary people, you and I may not may never find, find out, why did certain things go wrong? Well,

quote unquote, go wrong.

Where in reality, nothing goes wrong. Everything goes according to what Allah has planned.

For the believer, but there Allahumma sha Allah subhana, Allah wills and whatever He wills happen.

So it turned out to be actually good for them. He was doing them a favor. They were able to fix it. Had the sheep been seized, they would have lost everything. So they had to suffer a small loss for a greater gain, to or to avoid a bigger loss. And then he explained to him that the child also unhealthier was acting as if he is the angel of death. Allah subhanaw taala sent him to take this kid, Allah subhanaw taala found a way out for this kid out of the very horrible future he was going to grow to and turn into a tyrant who's going to torture his parents. So Allah subhanaw taala took him away at this innocent stage of his life so that he could go Jana to Jana and wait for his

parents there.

Or, sorry, I take back that. So Allah Subhana Allah took him out of their life.

Allah subhanaw taala took

come out of their life, to do them a favor.

So that this child wouldn't become the source of the greatest pain or suffering. And the prophesy Salim said that Allah this child was doing from day one.

He was he was born or he was, he was actually, you know, he was a calf or from day one.

This was going to be a horrible child. And tonight specifically, I want to address this particular part of the story. And I want you to come for that. Then the people that they built, on the other hand, the people that they built the rebuilt and renovated the wall for it wasn't the people of that town, but two orphan kids within that town, these horrible people who refuse to welcome a prophet

and a righteous servant of Allah like consider.

What do you think they would have done to these two orphans had they discovered if this wall fell down and expose the treasure that was hidden beneath it,

that belong to these two boys, that their their grandfather left for them?

It would have been lost, they would have taken it from them. But Allah subhanaw taala sends a prophet and he sends a righteous man like I'm here

to reconstruct this so that Allah Subhana Allah will preserve the treasure and the wealth of these two orphans.

Why would you go and spread this? And why would you go without a mask? Why would you even leave your house your place of residence, however responsible

is this. There are people dying, there are children who lost their parents, there are parents who lost their child to children, at least I know of two children who passed away last week

here in the city of Memphis.

Brothers and sisters, this is a serious matter.
