Inshallah, today we will discuss a few of
these witnesses.
The first witness is mentioned in a surah
that many of us, if not all of
us, memorize it.
Where Allah said, وَإِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ
زِلْزَالَهَا وَأَخْرَجَتِ الْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا وَقَالَ الْإِنسَانُ مَا لَهَا
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا Where Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala said, on that day, the earth will
tell its news.
Rasulullah ﷺ, he asked the sahaba, أَتَدْرُونَ مَا
أَخْبَارُهَا Do you know what the news of
the earth that is mentioned here, do you
know what they are?
They said, Allah and His Messenger know best.
He said ﷺ, فَإِنَّ أَخْبَارَهَا أَن تَشْهَدَ عَلَى
كُلِّ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَى بِمَا عَمِلَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهَا
فَتَقُولُ عَمِلَ كَذَا وَكَذَى فِي يَوْمِ كَذَا وَكَذَى
تِلْكَ أَخْبَارُهَا He said, the earth, here أخبار,
news here means that the earth will testify.
It will say to every male or female
slave above this ground.
It will tell them on that day, you
have done such and such on such and
such day.
This is the news that Allah mentioned in
surat al-Zalzalah.
So the earth يا أخوان is the first
witness.
It is a witness.
And every time I mention a witness, I
want myself and you to ask ourselves.
Will this witness be for me or against
me?
Ya Allah, He used to spread corruption above
me.
Ya Allah, He used to travel to different
communities and spread fitna above me.
Or Ya Allah, He used to always walk
to the masajid above me.
He used to always go and visit his
family to have the surat al-Rahm above
me.
The earth will testify, Ya Allah, He used
to build masajid above me.
Ya Allah, He used to dig wells.
Ya Allah, He constantly visited the sick.
Ya Allah, He did not miss a janazah.
The earth will testify.
Banu Salama, they used to live far from
the masjid al-Nabawi.
So they decided to move closer.
And Rasulallah ﷺ asked them, why do you
want to move closer?
They said, Ya Rasulallah, it will become easier
for us to come to the masjid.
He said, دياركم تكتبوا آثاركم.
Your footsteps to the masjid are all recorded.
So don't worry.
As a matter of fact, the further you
are, the more you will be rewarded.
The more steps you take to come to
the masjid.
And Banu Salama changed their mind.
So the first witness, my brothers and sisters,
is this earth that we walk upon.
Second witness is a witness that with us
24x7, never leaves us.
And that are the angels.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ
لَحَافِظِينَ كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ And upon
you, there are honorable angels writing every single
move, every single word, everything.
An angel on the right, writing the good
deeds.
And an angel on the left, writing the
evil deeds.
Everything is recorded.
And they will be witnesses on the day
of judgment.
And a side note, subhanallah, to show you
how merciful is Allah azzawajal.
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told us, that
the angel on the left who is recording
the evil deeds, every time we commit a
sin, he will be told, wait six hours
before you record it.
Maybe the abd will ask for tawbah.
Maybe he will make istighfar.
And six hours here does not mean six
sixty minutes.
It means six intervals of time.
Look at the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala.
He will keep the sins on hold until
maybe we are making istighfar.
Maybe it's deleted, maybe it's erased.
So these angels, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
told us, مَا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلِ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ
رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ No word we utter except it
is recorded.
So the angels will testify, Ya Allah, he
used to rush to do good things.
Ya Allah, his tongue never stopped from remembering
you.
Because we are recording.
Or Ya Allah, he used to lie a
lot.
Ya Allah, he used to backbite.
Ya Allah, he used to go to the
wrong places.
The angels never ever lie.
Ya Allah, he used to perform tahajjud every
single night.
My brothers and sisters, sometimes when we are
angry, we utter words that we regret all
our life.
A sister came to me the other day.
She said my husband, when he gets angry,
he uses a foul language that's not in
the dictionary.
He comes up with new words to curse.
My brother, these words are recorded.
My young brothers and sisters, sometimes you use
four-letter words in order to fit in
with your company, with your friends, in order
to look cool.
You are making an honorable angel write down
these disgusting words.
They are all recorded.
My brothers and sisters, from the rahmah of
Allah Azza wa Jal, from his greatness, is
that he on the day of judgment, he
will tell us all, اقرأ كتابك Is there
any more justice than this?
Read your own book.
Read your own book.
So, what does that mean?
Whatever I would like to see in that
book, do it now.
What do you want to see in that
book?
A lot of tasbih, a lot of tahmid,
a lot of visiting to the masajid, a
lot of reading of the Quran, a lot
of cursing.
Whatever you want to see in that book,
Allah said, do it now.
And on the day of judgment, you will
see everything written.
You wrote that book.
You are the author of that book.
اقرأ كتابك كفى بنفسك اليوم عليك حسيبة You
are the accountant for yourself.
Hold yourself to accountability.
Allahu Akbar Some of us on that day
will look at that book and say, ما
لهذا الكتاب لا يغادر صغيرة ولا كبيرة إلا
أحصاه What's up with this book?
Nothing is missing.
Every small, every huge, everything is recorded.
Everything is recorded.
أحصاه الله ونسوه Allah said, Allah recorded it
and we have forgotten it.
Do you remember 15 years ago at 6
.05pm, what did you do?
No, we forgot.
It is recorded.
It is recorded.
Everything is recorded.
يومئذ يومئذ تعرضون لا تخفى منكم خافية Allah
told us on that day, everything will be
presented.
Nothing is hidden.
On that day, people are divided into two
groups.
One group would say, يا ليتني لم أوت
كتابي I wish I did not see this
book.
And the other group would say, ها أمقرأ
كتابي إني ظننت أني ملاق حسابي فهو في
عيشة راضية في جنة عالية قطوفها دانية He
would be screaming and saying, ها أمقرأ كتابي
I knew I'm gonna stand this day here.
That's why I worked so hard because I
filled it up.
He was so excited and he got the
book in his right hand.
And the other guy is saying, I wish
I can disappear.
I wish this book does not exist.
May Allah make us from the people who
get the book in their right hand.
I ask Allah for these witnesses to be
for us, not against us.
If you can please move forward and fill
up the space.
We have a lot of brothers outside.
Rasulullah one time was sitting with the Sahaba
and he smiled.
And he said, why don't you ask me
why am I smiling?
I said, why are you smiling Ya Rasulullah?
He said, I'm smiling about this guy who
will be called on the day of judgment.
We will be called on the day of
judgment.
Some of so and so come for the
hisab.
And he will be brought.
And he will be reminded.
And he will be told on that day
you did so and so.
And on that day you did so and
so.
And he keeps denying.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, or he
will tell Allah, Ya Allah, didn't you promise
that there's no injustice today?
Allah will say, yes.
Ya Allah, I do not accept no witnesses,
no angels, no earth, nobody.
The only witnesses I accept, Ya Allah, are
my body parts, me, myself.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will say, okay,
no problem.
The lips will be sealed.
وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ Today, we will
seal their lips.
And their hands will talk.
And their feet will testify to everything they
have done.
The feet will testify to everything they have
done.
The hand will talk.
And will say, Ya Allah, he used to
take bribes with me.
He used to buy and sell haram with
me.
He used to write the wrong comments with
me.
Ya Allah, he used to beat his wife
with me.
Ya Allah, he used to beat his children
for no reason with me.
Or, Ya Allah, he used to use me
for tasbih.
Ya Allah, he used to wipe the head
of the orphan with me.
Ya Allah, he used to give a lot
of sadaqat with me.
The eyes will testify.
And they will say, Ya Allah, he used
to watch haram with me.
He used to stare at women with me.
Or, Ya Allah, he used to always read
the Qur'an with me.
My brothers and sisters, My sister, that skin
that you leave the house, where everyone is
looking at you.
Why you supposed to be wearing your proper
hijab?
That skin will testify on the day of
judgment.
That skin will testify, my sister.
What's wrong with this sheikh?
Every khutbah he has to talk about hijab.
Wallahi, my sister, because I love you.
You're not gonna hear this anywhere else.
This skin, and I'm not saying this, Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala told us, that this
skin will testify, Ya Allah, she used to
leave the house uncovered with me.
Ya Allah, Ya Allah, the feet will say,
He used to go to the clubs and
the casinos with me.
Or, Ya Allah, he used to walk a
lot to the masajid with me.
He used to walk to people who are
fighting with each other to fix their problem
with me.
The ears will testify and say, Ya Allah,
he always listening to music with me.
He's always listening to backbiting and gossip with
me.
This is the words of Allah, Ya Akhwan.
These are verses because ayat in the Quran
that will be recited till the day of
judgment.
The fingers will testify.
And they will say, Ya Allah, He used
to go to the wrong websites with me.
He used to, when someone post the wrong
picture, he used to click heart and thumbs
up with me.
And then this guy will say to his
body parts, وَقَالُوا لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَا شَهِدْتُمْ عَلَيْنَا And
this person will tell his body parts, Why
are you testifying against me?
I am lying in front of Allah to
protect you from the Hellfire.
قَالُوا أَنْتَقَنَا اللَّهِ أَلَّذِي أَنْتَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ And
the body parts will testify and say, Ya
Allah, Allah made us talk.
And He can make anything talk.
Allah can make anything speak and talk.
So the third witness are our body parts.
We mentioned one more witness, and that is
Allah Azza wa Jalla.
أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِي بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٍ
Isn't it sufficient that Allah is a witness
over everything?
Wallahi, Ya Rabb, it is sufficient.
وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا And Allah is sufficient as
a shaheed.
How just is Allah Azza wa Jalla?
Does He need the angels and the earth
and the body parts to testify?
He has seen everything.
This is from His justice.
So you will have no more excuses.
So you will have no excuses.
And keep in mind, the one who is
a witness is Al-Basir himself.
The All-Seeing himself.
The All-Hearing himself.
The All-Wise himself.
Al-Raqeeb himself.
And be careful of the sins that you
do in secret.
Because the judge is the only witness.
My brothers and sisters, sometimes when the family
is away, when the spouse is away, we
go to our computer, and we log in
to things that we know that are haram,
thinking that no one is witnessing it.
Remember that Allah is witnessing it.
يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ
مَعَهُمْ They are very scared from people, but
they are not scared from Allah and He
is with them.
Ayah in the Quran.
You know, when someone
is doing or watching something haram, when there's
nobody, let's say someone turned off all the
lights, closed the curtains, sat down and yalla,
start watching something haram.
And then all of a sudden, he hears
a movement at the door.
He starts shaking, going crazy.
That shaking and going crazy is worse than
the act of watching haram.
Why?
Because you feared someone and you did not
fear Allah Azza wa Jalla.
My brothers and sisters remember what kind of
shaheed we are talking about.
When we speak about Allah is shaheed, Allah
is the one who told us the story
of Luqman when he told his son, يَا
بُنَيِّ إِنَّهَا إِنْ تَكُ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِنْ خَرْدَلٍ
فَتَكُنْ فِي صَخْرَةٍ أَوْ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ أَوْ فِي
الْأَرْضِ يَأْتِبِهَا اللَّهُ Oh my son, if it
was the weight of a mustard seed.
When you finish here, stop by a supermarket
and go to the spice section and look
for a mustard seed.
Allah is not saying a mustard seed, the
weight of a mustard seed.
If it's hidden in a rock or in
the milky way or on earth, Allah will
bring it.
If I put a mustard seed in this
masjid, you cannot find it.
Allah said, if it's in the milky way,
I will bring it.
This is what kind of shaheed we have.
فَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَى وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ
مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَى Every smile is recorded,
every gesture is recorded, everything.
My brothers and sisters, alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah that we
are still above the ground.
And we can make these witnesses testify for
us, not against us.
I will be questioned about this khutbah, wallahi.
And you will be questioned because you listen
to this khutbah.
We can still use the pen of tawbah
to erase.
We can still do that.
We are still above the ground.
I can still use the earth to testify
for me, or my body parts, or the
angels.
But when I go under, it's too late.
I ask Allah azza wa jal to make
all these witnesses testify for us.
Oh Allah, destroy their enemies.
Oh Allah, protect our brothers in Lebanon, Sudan,
Yemen, and everywhere.
Oh Allah, oh generous Lord, oh Allah, make
us reach Ramadan.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen.
Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem.
Maliki Yawm.
Iyyaka Na'budu Wa Iyyaka Nastaeen.
Ihdina As-Sirata Al-Mustaqeem.
Sirata Al-Ladhina An'amta.
Ghayri Al-Maghdubi Alayhim Waladda.
Ameen.
Fahuwa Fi Reeshatir Radiyah.
Fi Jannatin Aliyah.
Qutufuha Daniyah.
Kulum Washrabu Haniyan Bimaa.
Bimaa Aslaftum Fil Ayyami Al-Khaliyah.
Allah Akbar.
Sama'a Allah Liman Hamidah.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen.
Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem.
Maliki Yawm Al-Deen.
Iyyaka Na'budu Wa Iyyaka Nastaeen.
Ihdina As-Sirata Al-Mustaqeem.
Sirata Al-Ladhina An'amta Alayhim.
Ghayri Al-Maghdubi Alayhim Waladda.
Ameen.
Wa Al-Asr.
Inna Al-Insana Lafee Khusr.
Illa Al-Ladhina Amanu Wa Amilu As-Salihan.
Wa Tawasaw Bil-Haqqi Wa Tawasaw Bil-Sabr.
Allah Akbar.
Sama'a Allah Liman Hamidah.
Just one more time reminding you that Insha
'Allah we're going to Umrah in January.
